Cute as a button!!!! Thanks for sharing.

I liked the title too..."Sunday Best"...unfortunately our church just had a little tiff about what somone 'should wear to church'.....not just any someone but the preacher......we are looking for a new pastor and some people were 'bothered' that one very good and godly candidate did not dress up enough for his day to preach.....honestly, some young people got up and walked out(not out of the preaching service, but out of the business meeting later when someone brought up the topic). They were so disgusted with even the discussion......As my son said, "I love God but sometimes I hate church."
What are your thoughts on 'wearing your best to church"??
PS- I wear nice clothes but not necessarily a dress. And I couldn't care less what someone else wears as long as it covers what it's supposed to!

Living proof (ha, no pun intended there) that she's adorable not matter what she wears or how dirty or wrinkly she is! I know I struggle with this with my boys too. But, no matter what, when I pick them up from the nursery with their heads all sweaty and their faces covered in cheerios (or snot), I still just wanna kiss their whole faces and show them off to the world.

Thanks for sharing your adorable daughter with us! She and Jackson are such cuties!

At September 21, 2009 at 11:32 AM , Blogger Amanda said...

Annabeth's hair is light brown, although sometimes it looks reddish in certain light and in pictures.

Pat, there is everything from casual to formal dress at our church. (Last week I had Annabeth in her jeans.) I don't think it's a big issue for us, although maybe for some people it is and I don't realize it. God knows the attitudes of our hearts when we get dressed for church. I think whether we are dressing in jeans or suits, we all have the capacity to honor or dishonor Him with our clothing.

Look at me breaking my own rule! Anyone can email me at blog@lproof.org if they have questions. Love y'all!

Too sweet! I love pictures, and appreciate you sharing with us. I'm sure your kids will love having all these precious memories when they grow-up. The digital world of cameras makes it difficult for me to control how many pictures I take. Back in the 35mm days--I never would have taken as many as I do now.

My "before church" looks all-together, pressed, every hair in place.

It's all that praisin', worshipin', huggin' & lovin' for a few hours.
Little AnnaBeth...it only gets better!

Tres darling!! The way Annabeth looked after church is pretty much how I looked when walking INTO the doors yesterday. Some days are like that. I about died laughing seeing the condition of her angelic blue dress in the "after" pictures. Nursery must have been a war zone cause her dress looks like it went through a bunker or two! Thanks for making me bust out laughing, Amanda. Your kids are way too cute!

I so remember those days of dressing up my daughter in all her frills...ribbons & bows - only to have her pull and tug on them until she she was down to her dress and barefeet. How many bows and lace socks she ruined! She went through a period of jeans and t-shirts, but now at 20 she is all "girly" and I love it!

Only too true in terms of reality isn't it? My two look pretty cute Sunday morning, but if we go out for lunch- the dresses and faces get totally covered with all manner of stains! Thank heavens for oxiclean.

I remember a line of the the lyrics from Amy Grant's song " I love you" off of Unguarded- "Oh to stay your princess, if I only could. If you never saw the rotten, only saw the good." I guess that's still the longing of all of our hearts from adults to little girls as we dress up on Sunday morning. Thankfully God still sees us as his princess however we look- both the before and the after! Thank you Lord!

Thanks for sharing a little reality with us, Amanda! :)

Annabeth has innocence in those eyes.....but they also say "catch me if you can"!! Almost reminds me of the stories of her Aunt Melissa!

With an older brother that is all boy, it will be interesting to see the personality of this girl.

Just as cute as she can be....you are going to have a lifetime of fun and challenge....get ready for a fun ride!!

That is why my child wears $10.00 princess costumes to church most Sundays.

Add in Kool-Aid and donuts to the mix and it's a dangerous place for smocked dresses.

Awww.. you make me miss my babies!!! They grow UP sooo fast!

She's beautiful! So's her mommy! And so is her precious big brother!

Wonder, Amanda, if God doesn't take snapshots that He loves to capture in a Heavenly Album of His Own of His girls (and guys) in their "Son-day Best"... looking to Him as just beautiful!!!

Wouldn't you just love to see His album?

Hugs! And enjoy your Heavenly Blessings!

Hey Amanda/Beth I'm sure you all have been filled in by Melissa, but I wanted to ask if you all would do a prayer for GA because of the terrible flooding so the sisesta could pray as well.
Thanks so much

Totally!! Why does it always look like they've been through a war when they get out of the nursery?? So funny though, my daughter's hair is always a mess too :) And she usually smells like the perfume of whoever held her!

okay so I'm curious...the bow is gone at the end....with my 5 month old they rarely last 5 minutes anymore, she grabs them and has them in her mouth, has ripped one apart and pooped on one! I wonder how in the world you manage to keep a bow on that girl's head?

(since I had two boys first, Daddy really likes the bows...just can't keep 'em on!)

Thank you for letting me into your life. I truly enjoy reading this blog. I have done many of Beth's study's and am now starting "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things." I am enjoying the study very much. Thank you, to all of you, for your ministry.

LOVE IT! There are too many Sundays to count the times I would pick up my son, Charlie, who just turned six and he would be standing at the door of the nursery in his wife beater, jeans, and socks. Yes, he's a PK...

She is such a doll baby!! When my baby girl was little, I loved to dress her in the same type dresses (with the smocking) and I got them from the Strasburg store - I kept a few of them. My daughter is almost 9 years old now! Cherish, cherish!!

Amanda,

Although I'm late in responding (haven't had a minute lately), these timeless pictures of Miss Annabeth are just too precious. I've smiled everytime I've thought about them. Thank you so much for sharing such joy. My youngest is a girl and just turned 17 last Sunday. I always put a bow in her hair for Sunday morning church, and inevitably by the time we were home, it was hanging somewhere on her head. By the time she was 10, she adamately announced (please!)that it was time to give up the bows for she was a big girls now and none of her friends wore bows anymore. I agreed. Sending love to you and your sweet baby girl.
