God of Wonders
Hey, my darling Siestas!
I got back from the Atlanta Women of Faith conference a few hours ago (I'll tell you about that in a minute), smooched my man hello, then was inspired by the PGA tournament Keith was watching to take a little nap on the couch. After making me a wonderful cup of John Martinez Breakfast Blend, I decided to jump on line and check on you guys. I knew I'd see the pictures of Matthew because I'd asked AJ to post them but they caught me off guard anyway and I'm just about to bawl.
Girls, it was a true miracle. God has allowed me to see a number of them but none any more staggering than that one. If you've missed the story, my induction to ministry in Angola several years ago was a trip to a malnutrition clinic where I saw some of the most horrifying sights of my life. If it wasn't vitally important that we open our eyes to the suffering of children, it would be too much for the soul to bear. If you can imagine this, Matthew looked worse in person than he does in the "before" pictures and his breathing was already like a death rattle. The purple treatment came out dark enough in the picture to hide what was happening to his skin. I was told that, bar a miracle, he would most likely die within forty-eight hours. He was too far gone to tolerate any food and they just don't have the facilities for IV's, etc. I could not fathom the hopelessness of the sight in front of me. I did what any of you would do. I prayed. And the thing is, I didn't even pray with faith. I felt total despair. I prayed out of nothing but desperation. Then, I stood up and walked straight to the vehicle, got in it and shut the door (passionately), feeling mad at someone but not knowing who.
We had no more than gotten home to Houston when we received a picture of him standing straight up (utterly unfathomable) and on the mend. It was impossible. There was no doubt it was the same child because he still had the exact same markings of skin disintegration on his body. Jesus performed an outright miracle. I know that He did it for a host of reasons, the chiefest of which was most certainly His great compassion and love for Matthew. I am convinced that, way down on His list of reasons, however, was God's desire to affirm to Keith and I that we were doing something He very much wanted us to do. I think it was an authentication of sorts that He was in it. Two years later the little guy looks as robust and healthy as any child you've ever seen, running and chasing a soccer ball he'd just been given. Flooring. Just flooring. His mom and I had the sweetest encounter. She knows perhaps even better than I do that God raised that child from the grave that day. Matthew's grandmother had even come with her to express to us the miracle they knew they'd experienced. I wanted to try to convey to them that Jesus had shocked me as much as He shocked them. May His Name be highly exalted. He is a wonder.
Thank you for caring so much about Matthew's story and all the children he represents. On another note, God gave us such a fabulous group in Atlanta on Friday at the WOF preconference. We studied "the God of all comfort" from 2 Corinthians 1:3-11, something new the Lord had engaged me in. At first count, well over 500 women received Christ that day and many of the rest of us made a commitment to be compelled by the love of Christ rather than the comforts of this world then count on God to comfort us when we're called to do something very uncomfortable. I know that I have made a fresh commitment. I just loved the group. I love ministering to women so much. I love ministering to YOU so much.
My staff and I stayed over Friday night to participate in the real, live WOF experience because my buddy and worship team leader, Travis Cottrell, was slated to sing at the big event. I was so proud of him that I had to stay and watch. He sang one of my very favorites among his songs ("His Word is Life," which conveys everything the Moore/Cottrell ministry partnership is about and became the theme song for the Daniel study). It was breathtaking. He then sang "It is Well" with none other than Sandy Patty. What an evening! I took Melissa with me because I knew she had never in her life experienced anything quite like a Women of Faith event. It is such a blast. I got so tickled at Melissa getting tickled (the speakers are so great and so funny) that my side split. (Anita Renfroe did a thing on "Purse-anality Types" that was stinking hilarious) I also got to hear my good friend, Patsy Clairmont, speak and she was, as always, absolutely tremendous. That tiny thing is a lover of God and His Word if you'll ever find one.
One of the all time highlights was a mini-concert by Nicole C. Mullen. SIESTAS, you cannot BELIEVE how fabulous it was. She is one of the most gifted people I've ever seen. She not only expresses the deep things of God (proclaims Scripture from memory and sings songs she's written like "I Know My Redeemer Lives," "When I Call On Jesus, All Things Are Possible..."), she is also one of the greatest Christian entertainers I've ever seen. (And I'm a big proponent of good, wholesome, stomp your feet, shake-a-leg, Christian entertainment. A huge believer that it has its place.) Nicole has a fabulous group of talented kids (some hers) that join her on stage, singing and dancing like nobody's business. I was mesmerized (and also once again convinced that somewhere deep inside of me, there is a black woman screaming to sing and dance her way out). I have new inspiration for Jackson's and my "Praise Dancing With Granny" sessions. Yes, they used some banners. I have been a fan of Nicole's music for years, belting out praise with her from the front seat of my car, but I'd never seen her in person. Incredible. If you get a chance some time to praise God with her, don't miss it. Even my staff-buddy's that don't play CeCe Winans and Kirk Franklin constantly like I do had a fit over the concert.
Well, my man has a divine smelling concoction ready in the kitchen and I want to keep him encouraged (heehee) so I'd better go. I've had fun visiting with you today! Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow. Take a moment to look around you at church and think how blessed you are to know and love so many of those people. Then go and tell a few of them so. I love you, Siestas.

Ohhhh, man! First you get a birthday call from Cece then you get to hear Nicole C.'s best songs. IF I didn't love you, I'd be jealous.

The God of all comfort, wow I know you've been blogging to preach that. That is totally the answer to prayer.
I love you Beth! And love seeing you when I can in church! Allison
Thank you for sharing the phrase Lord of All Comfort and the passage from Corinthians, it is the exact thing I need for a situation this very day.
It brings me to tears when I realize before the foundation of the world, the Lord knew I would read your blog today and the answer I needed would be on the screen.
Bless you dear Siesta in Christ.
Annette
What a treat to hear from you today!! There is so much to comment it on! Matthew. This story gives me chills and seeing the pictures, our God is limitless!! WOF pre-conference, I am so excited that 500 women gave their hearts to Christ!! Another miracle!! I would have enjoyed hearing the message God gave you. How fun to stay over with Melissa and your other staff to hear the other speakers! I am with you with Kirk Franklin and CeCe and Nicole."Praise Dancing with Granny" will be taken to new levels. I have seen you moving at your conferences, you got mad dancing skills!!! Enjoy your dinner and have a blessed Sunday tomorrow!!
I love you,
Patty
Dear Beth,
I attended my first Women of Faith conference this weekend and loved it!! I also attended the preconference and loved your devotional on Comfort. You truly blessed my soul!!! Thanks for a great first conference!!
Oh, Nicole C. Mullen! Tell me about it. I saw her at the KSBJ Brown Bag at Willowbrook Mall about 3 years ago and walked away thinking I COULD work-out just to get the arms she has! GOOD NIGHT!
She can bring it like no one else. And she IS one of the MAIN people that I bust LOUD in my car. She was even my ringtone for 2 years!!
Glad y'all had a good time. I'll have to catch a WOF conference sometime when it's near Houston!
Lindsee :)
Thank you Beth for sharing your wonderful week. Mine was quite different, but reading about the amazing things God has you involved in is only inspiring me to look to see what He has in store for me. I, like you, love ministering to women. Thank you for ministering to me. Shelly Havener, Largo, Fl.
Hello sweet Siesta Beth
Thank you for sharing the story of Matthew with us! Our God is amazing! I can't stand it when people say there are no modern day miracles; that our Lord doesn't heal as He did in ages past. Matthew is "Living Proof" of a miracle!(just as you and I and all of us are)
Praise the Lord for 500 new sisters in Christ!
I am getting excited about September in Nashville. I am going alone but I know I will meet some cool siestas that I can visit with.
Thank you for all you do in the name of Christ our Lord!
Love ya,
Kristi B.
Beth,
It's unusually quiet in my house today. My 2 1/2 and 4 year old girls are taking a late nap. So is my husband. And sleep just won't come to me much as a nap sounds good.
But now I'm grateful to be awake and read your blog and once more be encouraged by the simple sharing of your life with us. You just open the doors and ask me to come in--to talk about life and Jesus and coffee and praise dancing and the things our men do. Thanks for being real and being really in love with Him.
Uh-oh, my curly red-head Zoe is coming in all tousled and groggy. Asking for cinnamon toast. And just like my heavenly Father, I'm happy to give her a good gift!
Happy Saturday, Beth and welcome home.
Hi Beth,
Thanks for writing on a Saturday.
You are coming to Providence, RI very soon and I am praying for that event. So many here in the Northeast have had bad church experiences. Others pride themselves in good works and believe they are good people and that that is what gets them to heaven. So many Catholics live by so many rules and don't even realize they can talk to our Jesus directly. They don't know they can read the Bible for themselves. My husband and I have a new church plant here and I'm bringing 5 ladies to the event. They have never been to anything like it.
Dear Beth,
I am clapping and shouting!
It is fantastic to have you back on line. Yes we serve the Living God and Matthew is Living Proof!
Thank you for giving to the Lord and sharing the mighty testimony of ressurrection and life!
Excited to see you in Denver WOF.
Princess Beth, you are so encouraging for me to just keep moving in the direction that God has laid out for me.
I have been to several WOF, and did see Nicole C Mullen with them, she is incredible, high energy, and you know I did get my praise dancing groove on! I will have to put it on now and do it all again!! :) its still going on in your head..meet you there! Love you!
I will see you in RI! and I am very excited about that!!!
Beth, I just stumbled on this site after sitting down to look for some ideas for a devotional that I have been asked to bring at our church's first Ladies Group Meeting. How wonderful to read a not from you. I have not attended a WOF conference yet but desire to do so. I want to attend when you are speaking and now that I've read your blog today, I hope to get the chance to see Nicole N. also.
I am half way through your study on Daniel. I can not tell you what it has meant to me, how much I have learned and grown in the Word. I wish I could remember everything about each lesson. I am doing it on my own. I buy the sessions for my ipod and listen daily while I walk and do the homework early each morning. So sometimes, I listen to each session three times and never get enough. You have been such a friend to me. Thank you for giving to the Lord! I can't wait to meet you someday and thank you face to face. How great is our God!
Jackie
Dear Beth,
I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your ministry. I was so encouraged by one of your staff members yesterday in Atlanta. At 33 years of age, I made my first trip into the Big City of Atlanta--my home town--all by myself. I had to pray my way through the traffic, finding a parking space, getting into Phillips, etc. Talk about getting out of my area of comfort and obeying God in the midst of discomfort! This has been a phobia of mine my whole life: being in the city alone. It was so worth it! God spoke to me throughout the day in various ways. Jenn is a GEM! I just wanted to thank you for coming to Atlanta and also to let you know how blessed I was by one of your team members.
Dearest Beth, you never leave your ability to reach out and touch us so profoundly, so sincerely. I prayed for your trip, Keith's dad, and everything in between and outside too! I just wanted to say THANK YOU once again.....I do not think any of us could ever express it enought to you, your family, or your staff. We certainly always fall short of Thanking Our Heavenly Father; however, you are a beacon of light who intercedes on our behalf when it goes unsaid~ unexpressed individually and likely, unexpressed collectively as it should be. This blog lifts me when I am falling short, but it lifts me even higher during the times I have already managed some degree of flight.........never stop being Beth, the very Number One Siesta to each and every one of us! as always I send my love and my hugs, Annette

Dear Beth,
I just discovered your blog this week and have found it to be a blessing. After a hectic first few days of school and a birthday party for my two boys, I am finally sitting down for a few minutes. I hope you get some rest after all of the traveling you have been doing. I am glad to know about the miraculous things the Lord is doing. I watched the story of Matthew on LIfe Today and to see some updated pictures was so uplifting. Our church is sponsoring a family of Burundian Hutu refugees, and Matthew's picture with the soccer ball reminds me of them. While they were nowhere near the verge of death like Matthew, when they first came to the states 2and 1/2 months ago, they were scared and pretty thin. They are filling out and all smiles now!
God bless you and your ministry. Our women are doing the Daniel Bible study now. Our brains and our spirits are very full! Thank you!
I love that our Abba uses the most unlikely circumstances to reveal His work...
That way there is no disputing-- that it was He....!!!!
I just got home from the Woman of Faith in Atlanta.. How awesome was that...!!!
Thank you so much for a God-filled weekend.. Totally awesome...
For again, there was no disputing, that it was He...
In His Love...
Connie
Thanks Beth!!
I know you get told ALL the time how wonderful we think you are. I just want to say you and the work you do make me want to be a better person. You make me desire God in a loud way. You bring him to a "real" place with me. You are the perfect choice for God to show how much he cares for his children. So thank you Beth for your willingness to recieve Gods direction for your life.
Love ya

God of Wonders, indeed! I can't imagine your full heart and tired bones...
Oh how I thrill in a God who still works miracles to make His Name famous!
Enjoy your man-made supper...If he does laundry we'll just go ahead and consider him perfection...lol
Dear Beth, Thank you so much for taking time from your Saturday to visit with us. I feel so very blessed to have found the LPM blog and to be able to keep up to date on all that is going on. Your story of Matthew just amazes me, each time I see his name, I just cry, it is just so amazing, the power of God amazes me each day, but this story of Matthew just gets to me, what a true miracle that little boy is. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at the WOF conference, that is great, I have never attended one but it sounds like it might be time, sounds like it was an amazing time for all of you. I hope whatever Keith was making in the kitchen was wonderful and the two of you had a blessed and wonderful dinner Saturday evening, again thank you for taking time to visit with us. It is so appreciated. Much Love To You Always!!!!
Hi Beth! I just got home from WOF and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your preconference yesterday. I tried to tell my hubby last night over the phone how awesome it was and I kept getting a lump in my throat and crying! Poor man. He was like, "Beth who? What happened? Are you alright???"
I had been praying all week to be moved by the Holy Spirit and He's still stirring it up in there today. Thanks for coming, Beth. Thanks for your honesty. Thanks for sharing what He's teaching you.
I could babble on and on, but let me just say one more thing: Last year the Lord gave me a best girl friend. I haven't had one in years. At the end of your session, we got to commission each other. It was soooo far out of my comfort zone! We cried the whole way through! I am crying now just typing that. She and I will never be the same. I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME! Thank you!!!
The WOF Amazing Freedom Event in Atlanta was great. And Beth's Pre-conference teaching was wonderful. Her intensitiy kept us focused. Her stories illustrated her points and she always returned us to The Word. She closed the day with us pairing up to promise to each other to put her teaching into action in our lives. I had gotten seperated from my group and had been sitting alone for the last part. I paired up with a lady who was also alone. With tears in our eyes we made our promises and after a big hug she disappeared. I have a new sister to pray for.
I want to share about a time God comforted me. My husband was out of work and I was working two jobs. One night I came home at midnight, tired and upset. I fell asleep, praying or was it complaining about my frustration. In the middle of the night I was awakened and felt the need to go outside. I sat down on a chair on my back deck and began praying again. I looked up to see the big dipper "pouring" into my chimney. God was showing me that he would pour blessings into my house for my family and me! At that moment my frustration left and God's peace filled me. I knew then that God was with me and we would be fine. God is Good!
Beth,
I live in Georgia and attended the WOF conference. It was my first and I have just returned home so TOTALLY and FULLY blessed that my heart is just about to pop! I agree that Nicole C. Mullen rocked our socks off, and we laughed til tears of extreme delight rolled down our cheeks today, but the absolute best part of my week-end was hearing God speak to me through you. You are a blessing to many. Thank you for coming to Atlanta.
Can i tell you how excited i am about Septemeber - Deeper Still. I know I write that so often,. but I am about to jump out of my skin for some WORD!!!! I am so pumped!! Oh boy, i can not wait..... but i guess i have to!
Can't wait to stand in awe of what He is going to do!!!
Praising Him!!! with a stomp!
Beth,
It is great to hear from you and hear the amazing stories of your travels. I'm so glad you shared about Matthew. Seeing the before and after pictures is something I've never seen before and can't even really imagine actually exists. Praise God for his healing!
I love Nicole C. Mullen too. I heard her sing "I Know My Redeemer Lives" a few years ago......she is definitely anointed. I'm glad Melissa got to go with you too.
I read all of your comment and the very last sentence made me cry. I love my church and my church family. Just last Sunday I sat there and got teary eyed looking around at the people who are not well physically but don't want to miss church and make the effort to get there. One very faithful couple has a child in prison, but they are there serving the Lord. I prayed for each one of them last week. I will look for people tomorrow to let know they bless my life.
Thank you and tell Keith hello. We're pretty proud of him too.
P.S. I loved seeing Amanda's pictures of your church, home, high school, your dad's movie theater etc.
Hey Beth,
Thank you for asking AJ to post the photos of little Matthew. He is truly one of God's miracles.
AJ takes care of us by her excellent management of the blog. Amanda thank you for taking on this project. You will never know what a blessing this "blogspot" means to me.
Beth, I had the joy of attending WOF in Little Rock this year. My heart is always refreshed by the gathering of so many women comimg together to worship. I remember listening to Sandy Patty sing How Great Thou Art. As the song was coming to an end, I think every hair on the back of my neck stood straight up as I heard Sandy's miraculous voice praise our precious Lord. Patsy Clairmont is a small package but what a dynamo for Christ! Siestas if you've not attended a Women of Faith event check it out. You will be blessed!
Beth, I am so glad you love ministering to us. Your gift of teaching is phenomenal. You've been my teacher for years. The greatest blessing I've received is the longing to know Jesus more. I remember you saying after being in Bible study with Marge Caldwell and listening to Buddy Walters as he cracked open the Scriptures....."I want that....I WANT THAT!"
Beth, I want that too! Thank you.
Beth,
I so identify with your "black woman just dying to get out" statement! I absolutely love Nicole Mullins, Mary Mary, and Kirk Franklin! Their music moves me and sometimes I just want to dance before our Lord - and only before the Lord!(if ya' know what I mean ;o) )
Thank you Beth for all you do in jesus name
Atlanta was awesome. Thank you for sharing that message. It was just what our group needed to hear. Do you think you could post the commission we spoke to each other at the end? It was such a special time. My partner in the commission was my recently married daughter, such a sweet and special moment for us. I would like to remember those words. Thank You!!
I know that you all must have had a fabulous time. I happened to pull into the Omni Hotel at the exact time that all you siestas were trying to get your vehicles from valet and load up to travel home. I have to say that I was a bit envious of you. I would have loved to have been there. And boy, did I have a time getting checked in. Every person in the hotel was working hard to get you all out of here. Judging by strong scent of hairspray, I think I may have gotten the room that you just left, Beth!
My daughter and I are here for her to audition for American Idol. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of Mandisa and Melinda, and shine the light of Jesus from the American Idol platform ("flatform"). I sure was wishing that I could have treated her to a dose of WOF before she gets in front of those judges. Thanks for your update. You always make me laugh and paint a picture so clear that I almost feel like I have been there.
If any of you siestas would like to pray for my daughter, her name is Kate, and the auditions are Tuesday. We have to register tomorrow. She is 17 and has lead worship for the youth since she was 12. In the past year she has done the female vocals for our worship team for Sunday morning services. We want her to be in the center of God's will more than anything, glorifying Him. Thank you.
What a great post. And thanks for sharing the miracle of Matthew. God is good...all the time!
I was at WOF in St. Louis and was blown away by Nicole C. Mullen as well. She was AMAZING and just plain fun and Anita Renfroe was hysterical. WOF is always a wonderful encouragement--glad you and Melissa got to experience it anew.
While you were singing and dancing with Nicole Mullin, I was singing and dancing with Mandisa (well, her CD :) and praying FOR the ladies at WOF. I love big Christian events...but you can dance more in your own kitchen...and in your pajamas!
The Atlanta conference was wonderful. I wasn’t able to stay for the WOF event, I know it must have been glorious. I was so excited when they announced that Travis was going to be there. That wasn’t on the web page and it was a wonderful surprise. He truly leads us in worship – he doesn’t perform .
I am amazed that every time I have been able to hear Beth speak, is it always exactly what I need. I know it is because you have so abandoned yourself to God (Oswald Chamber’s term) that God uses you. It is like in Acts 2 “a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.” We each hear from you a word from God – we each hear you “speaking in his own language.”
I came alone to the event and couldn’t wait to share what I learned that I called some of my sisters to tell them on the way home. I have typed up all the notes that I took and I would love to add the prayer at the end. I hope you will post it soon.
God bless you and Travis – you have truly been vessels of God’s comfort to me in the past three years.

Thank you so much Beth for keeping us informed with what's going on around you. It's such a joy to be able to hear and pray about these things. I saw Nicole C. Mullen in concert about 5 years ago and you are absolutely right - incredible!!! Also, thanks for reminding us to look around at church tomorrow and thank God for our family - His!!!
Your Siesta in Louisiana.
One more thing - I've also wondered from time to time if there's a black sister in me too when it comes to praise!!! heeheee
Beth,
PRAISE THE LORD for His mercy and divine love for Matthew and all of us :)
Also, thank you for the update on the WOF conference. I had been praying for God to show up in a mighty way and 500 women saved - GLORY TO GOD!!
You cracked me up when you said "once again convinced that somewhere deep inside of me, there is a black woman screaming to sing and dance her way out" LOL!!
I feel the same way. My husband (who is a bit more conservative - hehe) just gives me that look when I get going!! Because when I hear some great praise and worship it is ALL I can do to keep from having a fit!! LOL!!
I am so looking forward to seeing God move at the Deeper Still Conference - I can't wait!!!
We love ya siesta,
Kim
Beth, your message in Atlanta was fabulous! I know in my heart that God had a reason for that particular message and I'm sharing it with my small group at church tomorrow night. How cool to see Melissa with you! I am one of those "sistas" that has been with you since your girls were still in middle school and it has been a true blessing watching them grow up! I do hope you two had a great PJ party in your matching PJ'S!!
I'm glad that you chose to keep on sharing your life with all of us because we truly do feel that we are sisters in Christ with you and it is a very tender relationship.
I loved you sharing about the lights going out and you stuck in the lobby til your man came to get you!
I was glad to have the chance to take off work and go to your conference right by myself. The timing and topic were perfect for me.
Thank you with all my love, sister.
Thank you for being a blessing to me and to so many many others. I so appreciate you and your ministry. And thank you for sharing with us your sweet Matthew...WOW!!!!!!!!! What an incredible miracle God performed in that child's life. I can hardly believe it! I am praying for you and your ministry. Much love and many blessings to you...oh, and you totally inspired me to do more praise dancing with my 14 month old daughter! She is loving it!
Hi Beth, I have done many of your studies and have always been so blessed by the way you share God's Word and your heart. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to follow your ministry through your blog. I wanted ot share that several women from our church recently attended a WOF conference in Chicago and it was such a blessing! I laughed, cried, praised, and sang to my hearts content. I came home a different person than I went and rejoiced at the blessing that it was to be a part of what God was doing that weekend. May God continue to richly bless you!
Happi in Illinois
Thank you for allowing us to witness this miracle for Matthew through pictures and telling of the story. Right now I am doing the Beliving God devotional and am reminded of (Ps 44:1,3)...it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them. (I love that last line)Thanks Beth for going were God wants you to go and doing want He asks of you. Your obedience effects us all in profound ways! You have taught so many people what it means to truly Believe God!
Oh, I forgot to say, Travis was fantastic as always!! Boy, when God blessed him with a singing voice, He REALLY put the blessing to him, didn't He? When he sang that awesome solo with that opera voice of his, all of us girls just let out a big sigh and developed massive "glory bumps" on our arms!! You guys make quite the team together!! I love, love, love that song His Word Is Life. I'm sure it caused "glory bumps" on many arms in that arena that night!! Sorry I missed it!
God bless!
love,bunny
Welcome home Beth. It was a struggle for me to be one hour from Hotlanta and not be with you, but a new job prevented it. However, I have been looking forward to Nashville since I bought my tix in Aug 2006- Coming w/ my best bud since 4th grade- we will be worshipin' crazy women! I am way too excited.
Thanks for a little more info. on Matthew, I'm so glad he's better than ever expected.
"I didn't even pray with faith," it means a lot to hear you share that because right now I'm dealing with something where I pray but I feel no faith. Thank you for being so vulnerable. God Bless you in all you do Beth.
Love,
Kara
Sweet Beth,
How wonderful that you were able to take Melissa to Atlanta, and to be a participant in the audience, praising the Lord with Nicole Mullen, and being fed with praise music and by the Women of Faith speakers. I cannot wait to come to Phoenix in November to see you and for the WOF. Nicole Mullen is scheduled on the program Friday night, so I guess I'll be dancing in praise to the Lord! It always does my heart good to know that you are being fed spiritually. After the trip to Africa, coming home and racing to Atlanta....dizzying at best. How lovely that you could be at rest and soak up all the Lord had to give to you during the WOF program. Best energy shot around!
"The God of all Comfort".....indeed He is that and more. As one who cannot take any pain medicine and has had to have back and neck fusion and hip replacement surgeries without any pain medicine (that means NONE...cold turkey), I can tell you that God is the God of all Comfort. He was my Pain Medicine in every sense of the word, and I cried out to Him for His grace often. He never fails to be there for His children who cry out to Him.
One night after my right hip replacement surgery, (the epidural had not worked, so I could feel everything in my right side and leg)I had these leg things on both legs that squeezed every minute to keep me from getting blood clots. The pain was beyond excruciating. About an hour earlier I had asked the nurse for a glass of ice water, and when she gave it to me, I thanked her and said, "Praise God," for the water at that moment was His Living Water. About midnight the nurse came in and I was lying across the bed, in agony, and wishing I could die. BUT, out of obedience, I was praising the Lord for the trial I was in, believing He would bless me with some pain relief. And He did!
The nurse said to me, "You praised the Lord earlier; are you a Christian?" I told her I am, and she asked me if she could ask me some questions. Her sister had gotten involved in a cult and was trying to get her involved. She wanted to believe in Jesus, but was being torn. So for 2 hours we talked about Jesus Christ and His Good News. It was my pain relief...for 2 hours I was focused on telling this nurse how much the Lord loved her and had died for her sins so that through her faith in Him, she could live for all eternity with Him, that I forgot how horrible I felt. So, the Lord was right there with me, and He gave me relief from the pain in a way that glorified Him. Of course, I didn't realize this at the time.
Trust in the Lord for all of your comfort...especially in your most uncomfortable times. He will never fail you or leave your side.
Be blessed, siestas! I love you, siestas Beth, Amanda and Melissa! God bless!
Beth

Beth:
You've been so darned busy in the name of our sweet Jesus, that I have so missed chatting with you like this.
When will Women of Faith be near me, because I am going, going, going.
LOVE YOU!
It was a joy to have you and your staff in Atlanta with us WOFers!! Your staff has been AMAZING to work with!! Looking forward to Denver! MUAH
Mrs.Beth! I was like SO upset my WOF group didnt get pre-conference tickets..I was like pretty convinced you would have already left by the time the conference started so when patsy introduced you i about fell out of my seat and was SOO excited (even if i did only get to see you for like 2 minutes...haha i guess that'll have to keep me satisfied until I go to another one of your AMAZING conferences next year :) ) I dont know if you were there any today but let me tell ya..Anita Renfroe was a scream today! Sooo funny! and Sandi Patty had the whole crowd on our feet as she did a mini-concert today and had to come back up and sing more after she had finished because we were just going crazy wanting more! So glad you stuck around a little bit longer yesterday!
First of all Welcome Back !
Praise You For Healing Matthew My God . I had tears in my eyes.
So off my pity pot I come because my kids and I are not starving and we go to an awesome church and I was in Wal-mart just really down the Lord sent a Brother from church to tell me He Loves Me.
I disappoint Him everyday I am struggling with my temper and self loathing and I look at that Little boy and I think the God that saved Him can do the same thing for my Life and my Kids and even save my marriage. So Lord Jesus I commit all of this in your Hands and Trust that you will do what best for my family.
Thanks so much for sharing with us and loving us. You have two special daughters and a Wonderful Husband You My Sister are truly Blest and are Humble to.
My prayer is to fall madly in love with Jesus and only desire the Father and Holy Spirit and to Live for Him and Be a Nurse and Help others to know Him and to Love Him.
Sue-La.
Beth,
How great it is that God uses you to pour out His love on other people - both a world away and here at home - and then He fills you back up again with blessing upon blessing! Praise God for the wells that truly never run dry! No matter what God asks of us, He always gives us everything we need - and more! - to accomplish it. How great is our God!
Bethany
How awesome to hear of such a miracle with Matthew!!! He looks so great in the pictures!!
Beth Moore! Praise God that you are back home safe and sound after many weeks of travel!!! I thought I would let you know that a couple of days ago, I was grumbling about something and my husband reminded me of scripture that you had quoted in the Living Beyond Yourself Study (I didn't even think he was listening to on a recent road trip) :) - and then last week as he was traveling to DC, as he does often to deal with political stuff-I was reminding him to "be a light in a dark place" from The Patriarchs that he got to listen to last summer in the car! You know, I so love it that my husband and I are growing in our relationship with Christ, together, hand in hand-and it is so awesome that he enjoys my Beth Moore Bible Studies!! Thank you for walking this journey with all of us, and for being so obiedient to God's will! Take some time for yourself-you deserve lots and lots of Starbucks!! Love, Lissa
Dearest Beth,
The story of Matthew is too amazing for words. Thank you for sharing him with us. Our God is able! I hope you have a blessed day tomorrow.
Love Ya,
Kathie
Beth's words to tell someone at church that you love them are right on the mark.
A friend of mine from church called me a couple nights ago to tell me just that. She said that God just told her to do it!
Little did she know that I had been feeling really down for a few days, and God used her.
What a blessing!!
You, Dear One, are blessed to be a blessing and how I rejoice with you over the incredible things our LORD has done and continues to do!
I really feel like we are in the year of Jubilee!
What a mighty God we serve!! I just want to sing Him a song right now!
In moments like these I sing out a song
I sing out a love song to Jesus
In moments like these I lift up my hands
I lift up my hands to the Lord
Singing, I love You, Lord
Singing, I love You, Lord
Singing, I love You, Lord
I love You
I'm so excited and so supernaturally overwhelmed! He is ALIVE!!! Bless His HOLY name forever!
"I was mesmerized (and also once again convinced that somewhere deep inside of me, there is a black woman screaming to sing and dance her way out)."
now MY side is split. and to make things funnier (word?), i just told my friend in the car today (while gettin' my praise on with MANDISA) that i think i was born the wrong color :)
i just love you...you are the cutest thing i know ;)
I had so much fun in Atlanta! Thank you!
Hello Beth! So glad to have you back home with us! I really can not imagine how horrible it is to see such suffering! I think that I could not go for fear my heart would completely break into pieces! It is close just looking at the pictures and reading your details of the trip! I believe our Heavenly Father must put extra protection around your heart so you can see such sights as you do and live to tell! I am totally overwhelmed at the unspeakable pain and suffering that goes on in precious lives. We only see a small fraction that is out there! I think that God is so proud when His servants go and do even if it hurts our hearts in the process! I want to be willing to leave the comfort of my home and help the hurting that is out there! My friend and I started an organization helping find orphan animals homes. We have no problem finding strays. The problem is that I get attached to the little critters! I have an extremely hard time letting them go. Even when I find a wonderful home...I worry that it might not work out and the sweet babies might end up back on the street! My husband is furious with me!! I pray that God will give me peace in letting go when we find them homes. Thank you for caring and sharing your experiences with us siestas! I love you and all the fab siestas!! You know it really helps just knowing that God has placed siestas everywhere in the world that are willing to share at times when we are in need!
What an awesome God! jan
Mrs. Beth!!!!!!
LOL! My side aches over this one: "...convinced that somewhere deep inside of me, there is a black woman screaming to sing and dance her way out...
All I can say is 'ditto.' And I praise Him for the challenge of this past weekend's Word. Praying He will capture your heart to love Him even more...only because there He is always 'more.'
Precious Beth,
As I read your amazing story of your prayer for Matthew, I was touched by God's great mercy and everlasting love for each of us.
Thank you dear friend for having a profound part in teaching me to really pray. I am a Raleigh Girl. When you spoke on the Psalms of Assent, that truly set my heart on fire and I have never been the same since. I left that conference broken hearted and determined to learn how to REALLY pray. I immediately began to study and read what I could about prayer. God crossed my path with a wonderful mentor who encouraged, inspired and shared her passion for prayer to me, it began an incredible journey that is still going to this day. These last years have not been what we had planned, we have had major heartaches and disappointments in ministry, BUT GOD has NEVER failed us, only strengthened us. I am so thankful to you for what you began in my heart for prayer. God has used that over and over again for HIS GLORY. On many days of these past years it is prayer that has sustained us.
The road we are taking is for us, uncharted but God has prepared our hearts with things we have learned.
I was so thrilled to hear of Matthews miracle. God is good all the time!! He has given us miracles in our life this week. The difficult times fall into each of our lives, we must hold on and BELIEVE GOD!! HE never fails us!!
Thank you for the love you show to each of us, thank you for your teaching and for loving Jesus with all of your heart. Thank you Beth for living out LOUD for our Lord. May HE richly bless your ministry as you bless each of us in return.
TheSONisshininginFlorida!!
Thank you Beth for persistently and consistently keeping us in "the know" and in the loop of what is happening for the glory and praise of our GREAT God!!
Matthew is a miracle isn't he??!! I know God desires to show us His heart through more miracles....sometimes, no matter how hopeless it seems, we, like you, just need to PRAY...it's so good to know that God doesn't always expect us to have a "supersisterchristian" faith....He simply WANTS us to PRAY. Thanks for sharing how you were feeling "faithless" and "helpless" at that moment....but....you still prayed.
I wanna be just like you when I grow-up!! BIG hair, BIG southern drawl and that BIG, BIG Texas size heart of yours!!!!!!! You make me wanna love God and other people all the more AND I totally get-it, how you can get your GROOVE on....there are times I would swear there's a black siesta in me just dying to get out too!!!! Can't wait to "Get Down" with ya'll down those streets of gold someday!!!!!!
Welcome Home - I love you....Keep Jammin' for Jesus Siesta!!!

XOXO
Beth,
Your posting was a Divine appt for me!
I wanted you to know that God used you to take me to 2 Corinthians 1 right now. I cannot sleep because my little brother went to jail in Houston this week and it has turned my family and my heart inside out. I needed to run to this passage to find some peace for my heavy heart.
I am in awe again at Gods' divine intervention for me tonight. Thanks for helping me jump into the comforting arms of Jesus. I am praying my little brother will get the Word in his hands and be led to this exact verse and find peace, comfort and hope in such a dark and dismal place.
God Bless you for sharing!!!!
Tears are burning my eyes at this moment. My heart is ready to burst w/ emotion - and I do believe it's every emotion a person can feel all rolled up in a ball. The healing power of prayer and of Jesus' mighty love - I can scarcely take it in. I can see why this little boy captured your heart as well as so many of us here. I do believe that our God has mighty things in store for dear Matthew. He is limitless!
Praise God for 500 new siestas! Oh Yeah!
Looking forward to Seeing you in Nashville soon. I'm going there by myself, but I know I am going to have a Spirit-rockin' blast!
God brought Matthew to my mind several times over the last few days -- ever since Amanda posted the pictures. I just throw my hands up in praise over His wonders and miraculous power.
And then it hit me -- a glob of Play-Dough thrown by my son.
:-)
And then a deeper thought hit me, thrown by the Holy Spirit. I have witnessed the same breath-taking miracle in my own marriage and in my own heart!
Surely my spirit looked just like Matthew before God intervened. And then -- He restored me to health. There is no other explanation for my marriage today.
What am amazing God. Matthew is a physical example of his greatness. I am a spiritual one. May He continue to "show off" for the rest of my days, and may I never cease to give Him praise.
I love what Karen Milligan said about us hearing our own language through you. It's so true!
I was at the Women of Faith conference this weekend and had an absolute blast. Does Nicole C. Mullen rock or what! I just wanted to share that I did receive a VERY comforting word while I was there. I have struggled with being morbidly obese for years (started gaining weight when I was 5 while the rest of my family was lean and athletic). But I believe that the Lord was telling me this weekend that I have been entrusted with this trial so that I can minister to others. I joined weight watchers a few weeks ago and as of this morning have lost my first 10 pounds. Woohoo!
Anyway, the conference was totally awesome. The only bummer: I had a ticket to the reception and TOTALLY LEFT IT AT HOME! I so wanted to hug your neck and tell you that your siestas were representin' at WoF! Oh well. Love you, Beth!
Hey Beth:
This is my first time on here. I had a very intense dream about you last night. I have been doing your studies for years, but have never once had a dream specifically about you and to my amazement, when I logged on to your site, you actually have a blogsite!
In the dream, I had been selected to ride in a boat with you across the dark sea. We reached the place we were supposed to be (a place on the beach that had many people in it). For some reason, even though my children weren't to ride in the boat with us, they were with us in the public building on the sea. They kept getting lost in a "sea" of people. You looked over the balcony with me from the second floor of the building and said you knew exactly where they were. You pointed out a concession stand and sure enough, I looked over there and they were there. Then, I got involved with a lot of things on the upper floor of the building and overly confident that the kids would be okay on the first floor since I had already spotted them. When I went downstairs, I had trouble finding them again, but found them sleeping at a dinner table.
Then, you and I went outside in the dark. The sea was stormy and the winds were blowing every direction (north to south AND east to west). The waves were cresting very high and the boat was not going to be very large. I was afraid, but knew I had been chosen to do this with you. You told me you had done this before and asked me to have faith and join you.
I have had many dreams in my lifetime that I am very confident are from God and many have come to pass as prophetic truth, but I have never dreamt about you before and I feel this dream was from God.
I am not completely sure what the dream says about me or my future, but I know that it says a lot about the storms you have been through and the dark scary places God has called you to that not everyone can absorb when they see your smiling face on the t.v. screen. I recall years back wondering what all the
broken spiritual times you went through were all about. I had never "been there", but the past couple of years I have and now I get it.
I also think that there may be some stormy times ahead in this world. The dream made me think of the four winds in your Daniel study.
I was raised Baptist, so all the intense spiritual dreams and miraculous experiences I have had the last several years are sort of new ground to me because we didn't talk about modern day miracles or prophetic dreams much when I was growing up in the church.
I look forward to keeping up with this blog. As far as prayer requests, I have a cousin whose two-year-old daughter passed away from leukemia on July 6th, 2007. Beth, if you or any of the people reading this post would care to read the little girls' story as documented by her mother, here is the blogspot address:
http://www.aliviarachelhaughery32005.blogspot.com
I can't fit all that on one line, but if you are searching for her, the blogger (the mom) is named Emily Haughery.
Thanks,

GOD OF ALL COMFORTS VS. MAKING COMFORT A god MESSAGE WAS A MUCH NEEDED 'FRESH' WORD ON FRIDAY AND CONTINUES TO LINGER IN MY MIND(I PRAY THAT IT DOESN'T CEASE LINGERING THERE). BETH, WHILE YOUR COMMENT "SOMETIMES GOD WILL CALL US TO LEAVE OUR FLAT IRONS!" WAS VERY FUNNY, IT REALLY DROVE THE POINT HOME. (BETH STYLE OF COURSE)THANK YOU BETH, FOR REMINDING ME THAT HE IS MY COMFORT!
I VOLUNTEERED FOR THE WOF CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND AND HAD A BLAST DOING IT. NICOLE M. WAS REHEARSING WHILE WE WERE PLACING PROGRAM BAGS IN THE ARENA SEATS, WHAT A PLEASURE & TREAT!!!!!!! I ALSO HAD THE PLEASURE OF ASSISTING YOUR LPM STAFF (LINDA,DIANE,JENNIFER,KIMBERLY,SHERRY)
AT THE LPM PRODUCT TABLE. THAT WAS A HUGE HONOR!!! WONDERFUL & SWEET PERSONALITIES!! HOPE YOU AND MELISSA HAD A FUN PJ PARTY!
BETH, THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH YOUR SISTERS AND ALLOWING OUR FATHER TO BLESS OTHERS THROUGH YOU!
LOVE KITTY
Just got home from Atlanta...so fun to read what you wrote about the WoF conference there. I have the privilege of working with those wonderful women each weekend on the road and it is always a blessing and a blast! I so agree with you about Nicole C. Mullen...that girl can dance and praise Jesus like few I've seen before. And thanks for your message on the God of all comfort. I didn't get to hear it all, but what I heard was powerful and moving. God sure uses your gift of teaching, Beth, to inspire, encourage, and motivate me and thousands of others. Thank you for faithfully pursuing God's Word. Your passion is contagious! Blessings, Anna
What a blast hearing about Atlanta! You happened to mentioned 3 of my very favorite anointed Christian singers, albeit all of them with quite different styles! Travis, Sandi, and Nicole are my 3 faves of all time. And the thought of a Travis/Sandi duet sends chills down my spine! I HAVE to hear that...did it by chance get recorded and posted anywhere??!!
I love you all! God bless!

Hi Beth,
This is the first time I have posted, but I read the blog all the time. I want to say that you are by far my favorite Bible teacher. I was at the Atlanta WOF this past weekend. I was so excited that I was going to finally get to see you in person! I've done many of your DVD studies, watch you every Wed. on Life Today, and attended the "Out of the Pit" simulcast. Right now I am doing your study on Romans at One Place.com. When you prayed for a double portion of God's anointing for the Atlanta conference, He answered your prayer ten fold!! He was so IN THAT PLACE!! I wanted you to know that I experienced some true deliverance Friday! Praise God! The video of the little girl quoting Ps 23 was so precious! It reminder me so of videos we have of my daughter; but, what touched my heart so was that I have never been able to view my heavenly Father as feeling that way about me. For that matter, I've never been able to imagine anyone feeling that way about me. Thank you for making that so clear, God really spoke to me. I thank you for your passion, love, and obedience to Christ in your life! He is truly using you to reach millions of women for HIM!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! I wondered if there would be anyway that I could get a copy of the commission statement we repeated at the end of the conference Friday. It was such an awesome experience! My friend and I would love to have a printed copy to read everyday to remind us and encourage us of our commitment. The entire WOF conference was awesome too! The best I think I've ever attended! I could write forever about all that God showed me! Again, thank you for being such a wonderful teacher and encourager in Christ. Even though we've never met personally, I feel that I know you and can't wait until one day when we can fellowship together in heaven.
First time blogger, first time Women of Faith conferencer (is that a word?)& all I keep saying is WOW!. We were in ATL this weekend and I have to tell you that your message was
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! What a presence of God in Philips Arena! I am 1 yr, 9 months post diagnosis and transplant from Leukemia and I KNOW God has a plan for me now. I claim His healing, but have been unsure of what comes next. Thank you for YOUR gift and for sharing it with us. I am so excited about life and Women of Faith. I told my mom and Godmother that I want to work for Living Proof Ministries or WOmen of Faith, even if it means moving from ATL and I will do just that! My verse while I was sick was Psalm 91:11. "For He will give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways."
YES HE WILL AND HAS!!! Praise be to GOd for your work. I will pray for your blessed family, both personally and professionally. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart! Heather Peacon-Corn, Dallas, GA
I'm so glad you got to share WOF with Melissa. What fun to connect with a stadium full of believers (and laugh to boot!!). I only wish I could have been there with you, especially to see my guy Travis. He has one set of pipes on him!! Just love to hear him belt one out.
Thanks so much for this blog. It's opened countless conversations here in my home, most notably of recent days about your trip with Keith to Africa. Great discussion starter with hubby and the all too grown up teens.
A Sizzling Siesta in St. Louis,
~Cheryl
Oh, Beth! I was there!! I was there in Atlanta with my 16 year old daughter! The minute, the very minute I walked into the Arena I felt the Lord's presence. When the music started tears came to my eyes. I laughed and cried the entire day with you. You must know that I'm not easily moved to tears, but the Spirit of the Lord was so strong I couldn't help it. He most definitely answered your prayers that He come with emotions for the day.
Thank you for ministering to me and my darling daughter. Your message meant as much to her as it did to me.
May God continue blessing you for being His vessel.
Beth, I feel like I just got a hug straight from God reading and fellowshiping with everyone over this blogsite! Thank you for including us in your ministry news!
love,
sarah
Beth:
i'm also floored at the pics of matthew.... i watched the lifetoday clip where you prayed over that little body... its amazing.
a number of my friends and blogging sisters attended the women of faith event and they said it was amazing... i got an earful of your teaching via telephone within minutes of the preconference ending! and those words spoke vicariously to me on friday.
thank you for that message!
and, i'll also confirm NCMullen.... i received a second phone call DURING the concert because my girlfriend was TOO excited to be there. oh i laughed and laughed at her.
my redeemer lives is one of my favorites as well.
lookin' forward of Praise Dancin' with Granny pics when you let that soulful woman in you come out!
blessings
Beth, I loved hearing from you today. The whole Matthew thing is so overwhelming. I had seen the video of you praying over him. At that time, of course I didn't know that your faith was faltering (I know in my head that you are capable but my feelings don't always check in with my head). Anyway seeing Matthew's pictures last week was very moving for me and then now to read your commentary on the whole thing was the icing on the cake for me. Thank you for sharing with us.
And hearing about WOF was fun because it gets me geared up for the one in Denver in Sept. I'll be there eating up every word you have to share with us. I went last year for the first time. Seeing that many women together praising His name is hard to describe. It was the first time I really loved women as a group. I was so proud to be part of it.
Enough for now before I start rambling too much. I'm glad that your trip went so well. I love you. Su
Good to have you home Beth! How wonderful to see Him constantly attending to our needs whether we ask in faith or NOT! He is so GOOD and His mercy is just unfathomable! I've been prayiing through your schedule, hectic as it is! Love you and your family so much! The favor of God rests upon you since you got to see Matthew healed, women give their hearts to the One searching for them, hear Nicole AND Travis, have Melissa next to you,AND FOR THE FINALE: Keith cooks for you! WOW! You are blessed among women, my friend!
Hi Beth and all my Siestas..
I hope everyone is having a good Sunday.
Beth, I was sincerely touched by the story of Matthew, and it must just bring your heart more joy then we will ever know at the miracle God did in His life.
Sometimes loving someone enough is the best way to pray to God:)
This blog may have been a little quiet, but girl, you should just take a moment to see what the other Siestas have written while you were gone; there is some richness there yes:)
Some wonderful blog siestas you should check out if you have a moment:)
To Know Him( SHELLY!)
Princess, Overcomer(Sweet Darla)
Just a girl( Mandy)
Worship in Spirit and Truth(Deb)
The Great Adventure(Faith)
Fabry Family)Suzi)
The Preacher's Wife(Lisa)
I have had such a wonderful time getting to know them, but I am sure there are so many more wonderful Siestas out there too, and I look forward to getting to know them:)
Starting the blog, definitely hands down was a total God thing:)
Be Blessed:)
Angie
I also wanted to mention I saw Nicole C. Mullen in concert too, and I have such a habit of asking questions when there is a crowd around lol, I asked her where " My Redeemer" came from like the idea itself, and it is from Job, but she told me it took nothing more than just sitting down one day and it all coming together.
That was pretty cool:)
I think that was then when I decided to stop trying so hard to write, and let God do it for me.
:)
Dear Beth,
I was in Atlanta for your pre-conference and just wanted you to know that God was speaking straight to me. I had just had a conversation with my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law concerning not having any true friendships. I have been praying for a mentor, a friend, a sojourner that can come with me on this journey. God spoke loud and clear to me Friday that I need to make him Lord of my everything and not be happy to be comfortable. It takes time and work to make friendships and I am going to start trying to let God be God of everything. Second, I am going to try to take the time to start some new friendships. I live my life so selfishly, and it has to change.
My sister-in-law was there with me at the pre-conference with me, and we both were bawling out eyes out during the commissioning. We shared such a special time, and it meant so much to us. Thank you for allowing God to use you. I am learning that each day of my life, I can't do this without God. I can't do it on my own. I need him to be first and all the other stuff will just fall into place.
Thank you for all you do. It really is changing womens' lives. God is so proud. Tonya
My Dear Siesta Beth: Isn't it awesome when our precious Jesus gives us confirmation so we'll know that what we are involved in is "exactly" what He wants us to be doing. I LOVE getting confirmation from Him. He truly IS a "wonder". Glad to hear that Atlanta went well and I love listening to Nicole also. Have a wonderful week. Love from your Siesta in Lathrop, Missouri!!!
I've bought Women of Faith DVDs in the past and Patsy Clairmont is the first one I listen to. She is hilarious and, like me, has panic attacks in her background. Her display of rubberbands never fails to make me laugh. I guess we've all felt like those wads at one time or another. LOL Glad you made it back safe and sound, Beth. We love you.
This was my first WOF conference and my first time hearing you Beth. I can't tell you how much I learned! I know I will never be the same. I am taking my name off of the Cult of Comfort membership. And, Jodi thank you so much for your sweet comment about me! I was thinking on my way home from your house that I was so thankful to God for giving me a best friend after so many years. At 41, you would think I would have many close friends but it just isn't so. Beth, I hope to change that by opening up more and LIVING! I just about lost it when you told the story of the blackout. There are not many people who have a man that will come and "rescue" them. I couldn't wait to get home and grab my man's sweet face and give him a big hug! By the way, I came home to a clean house!
My husband just returned from his third 2-week mission trip to Kenya. Our niece, who also just returned
from Kenya, sent this to him.
I am an African by Wayne Visser, a South African currently based in Nottingham, UK.
I am an African
Not because I was born there
But because my heart beats with Africa’s
I am an African
Not because my skin is black
But because my mind is engaged by Africa
I am an African
Not because I live on its soil
But because my soul is at home in Africa
When Africa weeps for her children
My cheeks are stained with tears
When Africa honours her elders
My head is bowed in respect
When Africa mourns for her victims
My hands are joined in prayer
When Africa celebrates her triumphs
My feet are alive with dancing
I am an African
For her blue skies take my breath away
And my hope for the future is bright
I am an African
For her people greet me as family
And teach me the meaning of community
I am an African
For her wildness quenches my spirit
And brings me closer to the source of life
When the music of Africa beats in the wind
My blood pulses to its rhythm
And I become the essence of music
When the colours of Africa dazzle in the sun
My senses drink in its rainbow
And I become the palette of nature
When the stories of Africa echo round the fire
My feet walk in its pathways
And I become the footprints of history
I am an African
Because she is the cradle of our birth
And nurtures an ancient wisdom
I am an African
Because she lives in the world’s shadow
And bursts with a radiant luminosity
I am an African
Because she is the land of tomorrow
And I recognise her gifts as sacred
Beth, One by One - just like Matthew, God is doing great things in Africa.
Hi there, Miss Beth,
I'm so glad to hear that you made it back safely home from Angola. Know that I was praying for y'all, and do so regularly.
Wow, hearing Nicole C. Mullen sing in person must have been wonderful! I have loved her music on the radio, but don't have any of her cds yet.
Seeing Matthew now must just make your heart leap for joy, huh?
Mmm, Mmm, Mmm. Talking about the "God of all Comfort", sounds so great. He has been just that to my family and me during the past week or two, especially, as my Dad was just diagnosed with something called "Agressive Lymphocytic Leukemia", which we were told is a fast moving cancer. He will be starting chemotherapy to slow the cancer as much as possible in a couple of weeks, as soon as his hernia surgery from 2 weeks ago heals up. But, throughout this whole ordeal, God has been giving us peace, although we have also had our share of tears flowing, but thankfully, I know for sure that my parents and I have been seeking the Lord a great deal and He has been giving us a special portion of His peace and love. Praise God!

AMEN! I SO get that! You are awesome! Praise the LORD!!!
I just scrolled down and saw the before and after pics of Matthew. Oh how I praise You, Lord, for your miraculous work and for the faithfulness of your daughters to document what You have done so NO ONE can dispute what has happened. My world has been ROCKED...Hallelujah!
Beth,
I was in Atlanta this weekend as well.
Wow did God show off or what!!
Comfort was the exact message I needed.
On Saturday Carol Kent shared and what a blessing that was for me. I so get her idea of a new normal.
Anyway thankyou for your ministry - I am blessed so many times and have grown so much in the last couple of years and you have been a huge part of that growth.
As we were participating in the Lord's Supper today, I was thinking about how many of the people around me I didn't know but how I'd get to know them all in Heaven someday and it just made me tear up. Your comment about looking around and seeing how blessed we are in our church really resonates. It's such a privilege to know how many more will be in Heaven than just the few I know.
Beth,
Your message really touched me this weekend in Atlanta - "the addiction of comfort". You never cease to amaze me and you always speak on a topic that I need to hear. May God continue to bless your ministry and I can't wait to see you again!

Beth,
We just got back tonight from that WOF conference in Georgia. What a blast! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. You were right- it only got better. Anita Renfroe showed her video "Don't Breathe" Saturday morning after you left. If you've never seen it, you have GOT to get a hold of it. It's the funniest thing I have EVER seen!
I was so overjoyed to see you and my sister-in-law was one of those who checked the box on the postcard to accept Christ. She's got a long way to go, but I believe something happened to her this weekend, even though she said nothing about it to any of us. She was blown away that the lady who introduced you, so nice-looking and "religious" could have had a past almost identical to hers and yet be accepted by God. I believe that woman's testimony is what softened her heart to lean forward and listen to every word you said. Please let her know her vulnerability was used. Do not lose heart and grow weary- your work is so effective!

So comforting to know in this world with so much competition and jealousy amongst women (in the Christian and secular "worlds), that you are such a cheerleader for other women leaders. Thanks for sharing how much you love and suppport the other women in ministry. Thanks for your loving heart, Beth.
Beth~
Thank you so much for speaking at the Atlanta pre-conference this weekend. It was just as powerful and life-enhancing as it could be. And I'm glad you and Melissa got to share in the whole Women of Faith experience with us, too! You are right... Nicole C. Mullen was absolutely unbelievable! Rockin' one minute- sweet and deep the next. The "Touch of the Garment" song was just so touching to me, I can't stop playing it now! And between Anita Renfroe and Luci Swindoll, I think we were all laughing 'till we cried!
Thanks again for being part of such an awesome weekend!
Thanks for sharing about your trip and the Atlanta WOF conference. We girls from behind the screen in Jenni's living room in Tucson, will see you in Phoenix. It'll be the dry season by November so you'll be sure to have "great hair!" Thanks for teaching and reaching through God's Word, real-life stories, brutal honesty and a good dose of humor! Love to you from the Tucson girls.
Miss Beth! Your'e back!! I have loved reading and catching up on all that you and God have been up to. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip. The pics were beautiful! Thanks for showing how much Matthew has grown. Every time I see Nicole C. she has kids with her!! At the bowling alley, the grocery store, Lifeway...I'm not stalking, I just live in the same town ;-). She is Glad you are back and I can't wait to hear more of what God has done as the days go by!
Love you, sista!!
Nikki
OK I am now inspired to go to the next Women of Faith conference if I have the chance! :) Thanks for sharing more. And that passage from Corinthians is one of my very favorites--something I have definitely experienced personally (and in Asia, no less!).
Thanks for sharing more about the Matthew story, too. May many more like him experience our God's healing, inside and out!
Beth!
I still missed the pre-conference, but a good friend got to go in my place. I did attend my first WOF and it was great! I had only heard of some of these ladies, but knew none of their stories. It happend to be the one I expected the least from, that GOD had the most to say to me through, which was Marilyn Meberg.
Because I was late getting there, my friends from church pointed you out to me, and then leaned over and said, "the dark haired girl next to her is her daughter, Melissa." I said, "I know! I just saw them. You know, Melissa just graduated from Grad School and is working at LPM, now." My friend gives me this look like, How do you know that?! Is something wrong with me that I can pick you out of a crowd?! Anyhow, do you know if I can buy a copy of what you taught on in Atlanta? I am still so sad that I missed it!

Oh Wow!! I sure did enjoy getting to attend the Women of Faith Conference and PreConference! It was an amazing experience. My mother got us both tickets and we were both so encouraged and inspired.
Thank you for your dedication to what the Lord has called you to do.
Hope you enjoy some time with your hubby this week!!!
Love, Kate
Beth: I brought 47 ladies from good old "middle Georgia" to the big city of Atlanta for our "Day with Beth Moore," and it was absolutely marvelous. My mother wondered "where does that little bit (you) get all that energy?" From the power of God on your life! We had the best time together and we love Travis C. What a voice - so powerful! Your message on The God of all Comfort vs. Making Comfort a God was tremendous. One of our ladies is a dentist, and she said the message was for her and specifically confirmed decisions she was praying about for her practice. Others shared how it applied to their lives at this time. Just think how that was multipled 15,000 times in that arena! Thank you for loving us siestas and for having such a heart of transparency. Thank you for loving us enough to be obedient to study and share. Thank you for sharing precious Melissa with us on Friday, and Amanda and Curt, and Keith, and Jackson, and your life. You are the SWEETEST SIESTA SAINT and we adore you.
Jan from Georgia
What a treat to read of your travels, experiences, and testimonies!
I am most encouraged this morning being reminded that God hears and answers our prayers - even when we can't shake the emotions of despair, anger, or bewilderment that we may feel at the moment. God is just not like us, is He? His compassion for and patience with me makes me long to be more faithful to Him, more trusting of Him, and more eager to please Him! He is just unfathomable to me!
Thank you for taking the time to post in the midst of schedules and other duties you have each week. Fun!
Beth, I am so thankful for you and your ministry. It was a true treasure to sit under your teaching (literally, because we were on the floor of the arena) Friday morning and afternoon.
I'm also glad y'all got to stay and do some holy dancing with Nicole! She rocked the house, and we had a blast with her.
By the way, this was my first time to see Travis live, and there is just no comparison. That boy's voice cannot be contained on a CD. Shook me to the core, he did. What a huge blessing!!
dear beth.
one sat. morning in april , during my quiet time in isiah, i read chapter 58 about true fasting. the Lord spoke to me so clearly that i could help the needy in India. confirmation after confirmation and lots of preparation, my husband and i got ready to go.
here i sit in amazement that you posted that scripture...you see i am now in india. my husband was here too. he just got back to nj this morning. i am here an extra week, helping teach homeless kids.
i have only been online twice since i have been here and both times i have checked the blog. what a comfort it has been. i miss my man sooo much and desparately miss my little ones back home. this is only a God thing because i am a stay at home mom and never imagined i would do this.
on the plane ride here i just kept thinking what you had said in one of your studies...to add a verse at the end of hebrews 11 and say, by faith....aura....went to india, and left her little ones behind (with wonderful grandparents)....etc. you know its faith when there is no other explanation.
i attended an amazing church here on sunday and the pastor used heb. 11 as his text!!! now i read Is 58 on your blog!!! He is a God of Wonders!!!
please pray for a safe return. i will be home in time to see you in RI.
sweetly broken but strong,
aura
well hi. :)
i just wanted to say a quick, but heartfelt thank you for coming to atlanta and faithfully sharing with us what the Lord had laid on your heart. i was absolutely floored because what you spoke on is so much of what the Lord has been laying on my heart (and the heart of my husband) over the last few months. i so appreciate you, and wish i could give you a hug in person to tell you how grateful i am for the sacrifices and time that you put into ministering to us siestas. many thanks!
Great report Beth! We serve a mighty God! May he equip us all with everything good for doing His will and may he work in us what is pleasing to Him through Jesus TO WHOM BE GLORY FOREVER AND EVER AMEN!
Help us Lord to listen, step out of our comfort zone and give a cup of cold water in Jesus name.
love you sis,
I was SO blessed to be with you in Atlanta this weekend. Your message (God's message through you) was awesome. He showed up in a BIG way. You are so right about how we let the comforts of this world take the place of the True Comforter. You have inspired me to contine to set my face on Him until I see Him face to face. And, WOW Nicole C. Mullen raised the roof!
Thank you for being so real and your dedication!
I had the best time in Atlanta! I got to bring my 14 year old (in a couple of weeks) daughter! She LOVED it and was riveted to her seat! Oh Beth to praise and worship with your daughter...that is the BEST! Then to hold her hands and and look her in the eye and have her comission me and me her... there are no words to explain it I cry as I type this! Probably one of the most special times in my life! (PRAISE you JESUS!) : )
I also got to meet "Shelly" and "Jenny Hope!" It is so cool how you feel an instant connection from a blog on the computer...they were precious! Not only beautiful on the outside but their hearts for him were so beautful! I pray my daughters will have the same kind of love for HIM! At that young age!
We have been ROCKING and dancing to Nicole's music since we got home...WOW she was awesome! I think I may have to get my arm weights out...boy she was ripped!
Thanks for your heart for HIM!
Love to ALL at LPM!!!! Emmy : ) Rome, GA
Beth, I often fantasize about coming to your church in Houston and hugging your neck. I can't tell you how much the Lord has spoken to me through your messages. A group of women at my church and I are completing your A Woman's Heart Bible Study. We are so in love with all of it. I can't tell you how much you've blessed my heart and contributed to Jesus radically changing my life. I wanted you to know this since I'm not real sure when I'll be making a trip to your church :) Love, Lindsey
I have never been to a conference like WOF and just reading about it makes me wish I could!! We have a highway going through our town and meet travelers often when I'm at the park with my kids. I often wonder if they are fellow Siestas! That means a lot to me that when you prayed for Matthew you didn't pray with faith. I've felt that way at times. How awesome that God answers us anyway! Nicole C. Mullen live must've been awesome! My kids and I have played her "Victory Chant" over and over and "My Redeemer Lives" is one of my favorites. Thank you for teaching us all the things God teaches you! I SO need to learn!
Your Siesta,
Kathleen
Good morning. It's great to have you and your hubby home safe. I can resinate with you because my husband is a pastor and I get "taxied" around alot too. I was amazed just how much little Matthew had progressed. It is a work of the God of miracles. I too have a Praise and Dance session with my grandbabies---they are 8 and 4 now but we still do our dancing before the LORD to CECE's Hallelujah Praise. we ahve done this since the ol;dest one was 2.One of the most amazing blesings God has lavished on me is being a Grammy!I hope you get to steal some precious moments with your little Jackson. I am looking forward to another wonderful time of learning and watching God be HUGE in my life, as I dig deeper into his word. Pray that my mind will be able to read and comprehend what he sets before me. again, good to have you home safely--Have a relaxing yet productive week, Loving much Carla
my first experience with Nicole C Mullen was on the music boat cruise this last May. All of the enterainers were great. But Nicole sang on the last night. She just blew me away. I am now a big fan of hers.
I already have my ticket for the WOF in September. I am on the main florr.
Thank you Beth for an absolutely beautiful pre-conference in Atlanta last friday. I just love how our God works miracles through you and your presentations! It was truly a wonderful day. I can't speak enough about it. Thank you again and Praise God for you.
Beth I feel the same way about a black woman inside waiting to just burst out. I get so full of my GOD that I can't sit still. The best times are days like today when the kids are at school and I'm off work. My dog thinks I'm crazy and you know the saying "this white woman can't dance". But when I get to Heaven I will definately have rhythym. Beth, thank you for being obedient to the Lord, you are such a blessing to me. It was me that said "Thank You" when you were leaving the Bossier City LPL. You looked up at me and said "bless you". Thank you so much for being that little word of encouragement. The first time I ever went to a LPL event I went to see you but wound up seeing GOD. He is so amazing and has changed my life. Thanks again, Sisters in Christ, Jill Lovell
You CRACK me up girl!! I love it that you and AJ just sit down and talk to us like we're your best girlfriends. I sometimes forget that this isn't a personal email to just me! Haha! Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and your life. You are so precious! Blessings to you sweet sis! :)
Love,
Missy in SC
beth- thank you for praying for mathew out of obedience and not out of yourself. greater is He.
love you dearly!-lisa
As a black woman who attended this awesome preconference in Atlanta, I am so proud that what connects us is not the amount of melanine in our skin, but the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. You spoke a truly "NOW" word to my heart. Thank you for all that you do, and I pray that God blesses you and continues to minister to you as you minister His word to us.
Thank You!!!
LeNore
Dear Beth,
Thank you so much for this blog! I was at WOF in Atlanta and YES Nicole brought it in TRUCKLOADS!
I have to say, however, that my new favorite singer is Travis Cottrell...I could not shut up about him all the way home! His singing blessed me on so many levels and in so many ways. I thank God that he came with you...what a joy.
I was deeply touched by your speaking on the "God of All Comfort" from Corinthians. The most touching part was when you had us take each others' hands and look into each others' eyes and repeat the words you were saying...I didn't make it through the first 2 sentences before tears came to my eyes. The woman I was holding hands with was the one that paid half my ticket, just so I could go.
Now how cool is God?
I am facilitating the Daniel study for our ladies here in 2 weeks. We have 20 women signed up! Isn't that tremendous? We completed the "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things" study last fall. Just on a funny note: we decided to meet twice a month because we all wanted more time to soak up all the activities in the workbook and in the Word!
Thanks for following God's dream for your life ... your candid way of speaking and tender care of those who hear you is inspiring, and heart-warming.
Blessings,
Heidi
I told a friend the other day that she needed to go to WOF in Dallas next week. She's never been and has not heard Patsy before. I said, Girl, you have got to hear her! Hilarious!
I've taken to having a box of Kleenex next to the computer when I read this new blog. Thank you for sharing your lives with us and thank you for helping with my walk toward believing in Jesus.
I was at the Atlanta WOF pre-conference this past weekend, and I was blessed seeing you in person and hearing what God had given you the share with us. Thank you for the moving commissioning service.
I was truly blessed to see you as you worshiped during the praise music. I am one of our churches designated Beth Moore bible study leaders, and we are doing your study on David and were in week five last week. That's the week we discussed not being ashamed to worship freely. I shared with our group last Tuesday night how I was blessed to see you praise Him without reservation.
Thank you so much for your ministry throughout the years. We love you and pray that the Lord will keep you safe and healthy as you minister to us all.
Beth- I love & admire how unifying you are with the body of Christ. Be encouraged because you are the real deal, with the real message, with infectious passion & love for Christ. I laughed hysterically over your post (there is a black woman screaming to sing and dance her way out). I had the pleasure of attending events in Phoenix and SF witnessing the passion, rhythm & soul you exhibited during worship. At the time I remembered smiling and thinking Beth sure has a lot of soul for a white woman. Like you I love worshiping to a whole plethera of music such as gospel, contemporary, traditional hymns, celtic hymns, instrumental etc.
I know that it hurts the heart of God that Sunday mornings are the most segregated time of the week. I forget which bible study Beth mentioned that sad fact and challenged us to get real and stop all the stinkin thinkin about race or different styles of worship.
I applaud & admire that Beth tackles head on the difficut issues that the "church" would rather avoid. I stand in prayer with you dear soul siesta for a Technicolor vision for the church. One Faith, One Love yet many colors. To God Be The Glory.
Miss Beth and Team - thank you SO much for coming to Atlanta! God spoke to me so specifically about areas in my life and heart that need some upkeep. In effort not to be too graphic, there was a specific area you mentioned that I have been struggling with so much. As a typical twenty-smoething female, this is an area I feel awkward discussing even with women in my life I know I could depend on. A recent battle with intense lonliness (not to mention seriously questioning God's timing) has led to a struggle I'm really ashamed of. If anything, certain boundaries are getting harder and harder to keep as I get older. In my heart and mind, I've already fallen so very far when it comes to purity. I hadn't acted on what I was seeing, but I believe it was only a matter of time. Instead of feeling completely condemed, I left with a renewed feeling of peace. God wouldn't bring something to the light if he didn't want to heal that place (right?! :) I'm prayerfully, and with accountability, learning to guard my mind, my eyes, and my heart which is stinking hard but worth it. I know ultimately this desire is a good thing and will be a great thing in the right context. I think many people assume only guys struggle with guarding their eyes and hearts. Not yielded to God and his timing, it was making me feel miserable and ashamed. Thanks for reminding me I'm neither of those things and that through Him all things are possible. It's sweet to have siestas like you guys!
