Prophecy Under Fulfillment

Hey, my Darling Siestas! I just have to share some news before I head out of the country. It has to do with an accidental prophecy that came out of my mouth about six years ago. Some of you may know that I started obsessing about a future "Baby Curtis" way back when Amanda and Curt were engaged. It all started when I asked his sweet mom to send me some baby pictures so that I could prepare a slide show of them both for their wedding. I opened that envelope full of snapshots and nearly died. He was the cutest baby boy I'd ever seen. I promptly stuck the picture in Amanda's face and announced, "I want me one of THOSE. Right there. Have me a grandbaby that looks like that." At that time, Amanda was convinced that she could only handle baby girls so I was scoffed and, in fact, told not to speak a thing like that over her again. Of course, in our family that means nothing. We tease each other to no end. When the night for the rehearsal dinner finally came, after the groomsmen and bridesmaids had lifted their Cherry Cokes and given their toasts, Keith stood to give his: "Be fruitful and multiply." That's my man.

A while passed after the wedding and I was sprawled out on the couch day dreaming while my beloved son-in-law was sitting on a chair at my house watching television. "You know what I can't wait to do, Curtis?"

"What, Ma'am?"

"I can't wait to praise dance with my grandson."

He looked a little stunned as if I'd just said something random. "I've been thinking about it," I said. "I think I'd like to have weekly 'Praise Dancing with Granny' sessions where we can turn the worship music on and dance all over the house. I want him to know how much fun God is. When the little guy gets a little older, he and I will make us some banners. He'll have a miniature one and I'll have a regular one and then we'll run through the house waving them to some really great praise songs. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

Silence.

I was messin' with him just a tad but he knew it sounded just like something I was capable of doing. Then, like I'd received a sudden jolt of revelation, I blurted out, "And he can even bring his friends!"

Finally, the silence broke. "Ma'am, he won't have any friends."

A few years later I was sitting on the kitchen counter eating Fritos after work while Keith conjured up some masterpiece for us to eat. (It's his fault I'm a terrible cook.) The door bell rang and I finished my sentence, hopped off the counter and went to see who it was. No one was there. Only a package. A tall, skinny package. I glanced up and down the street and didn't see anybody. (Keith was already onto a prank and was making a far more thorough search which ultimately proved fruitful.) I tore into the odd package curiously and, after tugging and pulling, lo and behold I pulled out a long banner. Don't think it was a dead give-away because I get all manner of creative praise aids since I'm in such interdenominational ministry. The shoo-in came when I pulled out the second one. A miniature. And burst into tears and screams. The card inside said, "You better get ready for Praise Dancing With Granny!" Oh, my word. To this day I could cry and squeal about it. And if I'd truly known how in love with the little dude I'd fall, I would have fainted flat on the floor from an overdose of joy.

I'm taking the time to write when I should be packing because you need to know that the praise dancing prophecy is under fulfillment. As God would have it, Jackson Curtis Jones would rather dance his legs off than anything on earth. Even if he hears music from a TV commercial, he'll stop what he's doing, get a certain mesmerized look on his face and get down with his darlin' self. And if a commercial will bring it on, you ought to see the man-child do what he was born to do! That boy can get his praise groove on to the Glory! Last week when he and his mommy were here, we turned on the music every single day and all of us danced to beat the band. He has more moves than a locomotive! Needless to say, he takes up a lot of dance floor by making some wide running circles, but the best part is when he stands in place and lets it happen. He does a lot of side-to-side lunges kind of like an 80's aerobic move then shifts his vibe to the front, alternating his arms up and down like he's almost in a trance. It looks like a slow-mo throw back to the "Jerk" my oldest sister and brother used to do in the den when they were playing their Beatles 45's. Only, me and my grandboy were spending our time doing something a whole lot better than that. We've got us some praise going. My favorite part is when he does the Stomp. Kirk Franklin would be so proud. The boy picks up his right foot and stomps it on the dance floor over and over with his feet so wide apart, I think he's going to do the Chinese splits. I'm not telling you the little dude does it every once in a while. I'm telling you the little dude is a dancing machine. I'm telling you he can point to the CD player, tell me to turn it on, then break it down.

Sigh. This, Girlfriends, is what makes getting older worth it. You live long enough to see some prophecies fulfilled. Even a few you didn't know were prophecies until they came to pass right before your very eyes. Yep, God sure is good. You want to hear just how good? Almost every night before his parents put him to bed, Curt grabs his guitar and plays while Jackson and his mommy give God some praise with the dance. One of these days my darling Curt may just put down that guitar and shake a leg. And I'll invite some of his friends.

Have a great week and a half, Siestas! I'll have so much to tell you when I get home. Thank you for your prayers! Our Angola trips involve some of the most difficult ministries we ever have the privilege to do. The suffering is unimaginable but God has called us to open our eyes and our hearts to it and do what we can to help. There will also undoubtedly be moments so tender, we'll remember them forever. I will get to see darling Matthew, the tiny child that God raised from the death bed after we were there last. A miracle if I've ever seen one in my life.

I will keep you on my heart and freeze some frames in my mind and describe them to you when I get home. I love you so dearly and I'm so honored to be your servant. Your siesta!

Today the little man and I were driving down the road, listening to some funky 70's soul. I caught a glimpse of him dancing in his car seat - and about that time he started to sing, "GOTTA GET ON DOWN, GET ON DOWN."

And I was proud.

Praying for y'all - such a sweet privilege to lift you before the Father.

Sweet Beth,
You probably won't get this until you get back, but travel with angels, my friend. You all will be in my prayers as you bless the lives of thousands of people. And watch out for miracles....the Holy Spirit loves to perform miracles to increase faith in His disciples.

My hat is off to you that the Lord removes your need for any make-up or good hair while you are on a mission trip! I'm afraid I would scare someone without being "fixed up." However, I know that His love will make you beautiful to all who see you, for they will see Jesus in you, Keith, Betty and Jim. God bless, dear one. "They were hungry and you fed them."

And oh, how I cannot wait until the Lord blesses me with a grandchild who will dance before the Lord with me in praise! I LOVE to dance...and you must have the time of your life. Laughter and dancing in praise...how glorious!

Much love to you. May the Joy of the Lord be your strength and may you know He touches the lives of the children through your hands of His healing love.

You'll be in my prayers as you & Keith head to Africa! Loved this post about the "little dude"!! We enjoy getting our praise & worship groove on here too,esp when cleaning the hardwood floors :) My daughter is getting at the age where mom's groove is a little embarassing - ha!ha! We love singing to the tops of our lungs in the car. Of course, I'm always getting scolded "both hands on the wheel, mom!" & my singing can only be called a joyful noise because I'm smiling when I do it! lol
We're so thankful for you, Beth and we praise God for His ministry through you. He's wonderful! We'll be praying!

Oh Beth my eyes are just swimin' with tears....tender tears and the just laugh till you cry kind!!! You have such a way of writing, such a gift...it's as if I was right there in the room. Thank you so much for including us in this special, special moment, really a private family moment that you choose to share with your extended family in Christ and this siesta feels so honored!!

Makes one really stop and ponder the POWER in the spoken word doesn't it?!?!! How many more prophecies would the Lord so graciously be willing to fulfill on our behalf, if only we'd speak them??? Pray them??? Not a "name it and claim it" sister, but rather one who firmly believes there is MUCH POWER in what we say.

I will be storming the gates of heaven on your behalf. Love will NO DOUBT be ALL that those precious ones see as you come in Jesus' Name and minister to them. My heart is raw just thinking about all that you will see, as I have followed and supported this outreach for years and just watching it on T.V. seems as times more than I can bear. God bless you and strengthen you as you reach out and share the love of Jesus.

Love them for me will you, for all of us siestas that would so desperately love the chance to do what you are doing. God Bless you and Keith and James and Betty and the rest of your team. You KNOW we will be covering you all in prayer.

Go with God!!!! XOXO

P.S. Don't forget to come back with HIM too, we all need you here!

My daughter loves to dance, too. Any music, whether I'm just humming a little diddy in the next room, she runs in and starts shaking her little backside. She calls it her "Buca", like the restaurant...I don't know where it came from, but somewhere in that just-a-month-from-being-three mind, that's what she came up with to shake. :) But one of the most fun things is when we're driving and I have worship music or Jill Phillips in, and we're both kind of quiet, just listening for a minute, but then I hear her little raspy voice lifted up in song and see her arms waving. Makes me want to cry and tell God, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" over and over again. Which probably looks just a tad funny to other drivers, but who cares? My baby is praising the Lord!

Blessings and prayers on your trip to Angola. What a privilege the two of you and whoever is going with you have to minister.

The Lord recently gave me a break through and I am now able to praise Him through dancing!

The thought of praise dancing with my son is putting the biggest smile on my face! I'm going to add praise dancing to my prayer list for him and start to make little banners (I'm not a knitter but am a pro with the glue gun).

Blessings to you this day!

Grandparenting is the best!!! If Jackson likes dancing, he'll love VBS. There's nothing like watching the grandkids immerse themselves in VBS. VBS bring about some frenzy worship when the music starts playing and the kids start groovin. Grandma Beth will have to be present when Jackson attends his first VBS.

I just had one of those "Steel Magnolia" moments- laughing through tears of sadness. My precious mom died 15 years ago at the age of 42 after a long battle with cancer. She gave that dreadful disease a fit and brought glory to God every step of the way before He took her home and released her from this earthly pain. It just breaks my heart that she never met my wonderful husband or two precious sons, Connor 12 and Ethan 4. God has laid on my sentimental heart that instead of crying about what my children are missing out on with my mom, that I should sit and plan all the ways I will leave a godly legacy. Your endearing words reminded me of what I have to look forward to with my grandkids. I praise and thank God often for you Beth, for the examples you show and the way you help make God's word come alive. I am careful to give Him all the honor and glory but can't help to think that He really showed out with you.

Love In Christ,

Karen M

When my 9 year old daughter was Jackson's age my Daddy, who's in heaven now, would put in a Gaither video and the 2 of them would praise dance all over the family room! I can see it so vividly in my mind. Precious memories--the kind that make you laugh through your tears! Thanks!

I'm sitting at work, and yet your story makes me feel like I've got a front row seat to "Praise Dancin' with Granny"! Beth, you paint such a beautiful picture with words. Thanks for including all your siestas. Praying hard for ya'll and can hardly wait 'til you're back and tell us of the victories you've seen!

A note to puzzlepiecesista, thanks for bringing out the point of SPEAKING the prophecy out loud. How many times has God shown me something and I kept it in? No more!

My 17 month old son and I were just dancin' to God's glory this morning with Mandisa playing loud in the background. It was a great morning! I share with you the joy of praising God with a little one. What a blessing they are to us, and a reminder that to God, we're just His children too. So let's keep dancing! Thanks for sharing that beautiful story with us.
I will certainly be lifting ya'll up to the Throne this coming week and a half. God's blessings on you and all who will be ministering to His people in Africa.

My kids and I just had a session of praise dancing! It has just been since the Living Proof event in our area this year that I've been able to dance to the Lord. I am from a conservative church, and the conservatism has carried over at home. No more! Our God is worthy of praise and our heartfelt dances of joy to Him. I am so thankful for a new way of praising Him!

Beth,
I have poured my heart out in prayer for you, Mr. Keith, and the rest of the team. Thank you for yielding your heart to the Lord so that He can use you to minister all over the world!

Dear Beth,
I must tell you this story.
This past March our women's ministry had a weekend retreat. They showed your Loving Well teachings. Here comes the kicker!!! At one of the breaks I dumped my coffee all over my Bible! I jumped to clean up my mess but in the mean time the coffee had soaked into the page edges of the first three books of it. I was so upset about what I had done.
My husband and I are preparing to move to the UK in three weeks to help staff a sister church over there. Everytime I open my Bible I see those pages and hear your voice in my head asking me "Are you loving well today?"!!!!!!!!
It was a teaching well in season for me!
Keep up the great work!
Blessings,
Beth from Lancaster Co. PA

Dearest Beth,

Thank you for sharing such a sweet, sweet story about your beloved grandson. I am in the middle of leading When Godly People do Ungodly Things - you mentioned the "Praise Dancing with Granny" and we were all tickled! I even wondered after hearing that section if you had started your Praise dancing - since the Lord delighted you w/ the gift of a grandson. My guess, this angel will have loads of friends!

God Bless your trip! Prayers for safe travel - I know the Lord is going to do BIG things through you, Keith, The Robisons and anyone else travelling and ministering w/ you!

He always grooves and lifts up those chubby little arms to praise music! Thanks for keeping us laughing and for being so real.

Also, Amanda...you have helped inspire me to enter the blog world!! So fun!! Thanks

Hello! I love this story. We heard your announcement to be a grandma in the Loving Well study I did a couple months ago. Hearing it again brings such joy to my heart for you! My best memories of my childhood are of us dancing at Grandma's house. Those days are gone now. I can't wait to have me some babies and grandbabies and dance all around the place.

We will all be praying for all the requests you sent out.

Yes ma'am, I was right there (well, via simulcast) when I heard you give that prophecy about praise dancing with Granny and I think it's just as wonderful now as it was when I heard it then! I have a 7 year old girl and a 2 and 1/2 year old boy and we, too enjoy a myriad of moves during "praise dancing!" Isn't God precious to give us such glimpses of Him?

I love the fact that your son-in-law calls you Ma'am. That's just precious. Oh, how I miss the South!

My husband came in the room while I was reading the blog entry, and he asked what I was laughing about. All I could think to say was, "Beth Moore is crazy." He responded, "but she's crazy in a good way, right?" He's right. Beth, you are crazy in the best way, crazy in love with Jesus. Crazy in love with your man and your family. Your enthusiasm for Christ and life is contagious and such a blessing to me.

By the way, can we get some pics or video of the little man gettin' down? What a joy he must be!

God bless.

What fun! I hope they never outgrow it...

Beth, I am praying for your trip that God will truly bless you and the team and use you to bless many others.
I have an "accidental prophecy" story as well. On April Fool's day 2005, I decided to have some fun with my family so I sent an email saying that my husband and I were going to be grandparents; that our son and his wife, who had been married just under 4 years, were expecting. I decided to spice it up a little more by saying that they were expecting twins! I thought that would push it over the edge of believability. But, I got so many congratulatory emails back that I felt a little guilty when just before midnight I sent out another email saying "April Fool!". Well.... those little "April Fool jokes" just turned 18 months old and are the light of this grandma's life! Two precious little boys... couldn't imagine loving anyone more. Isn't God good!!!!!!

God Bless You on your Trip Beth and Keith! I wanted to add a little sad note for me to the Prophecy , my daughter ( my only one) has been married for 15 years and does not want children. I have a son who is not married yet, but he is 32. So I am of Granny age with no babies. Reading all the wonderful things that Grannies get to do makes me want one soooo bad. I know in God's time I shall have one, but it is so hard to wait sometimes. I will have to have a prophecy of my own.
