Birthday Shopping Spree
CAUTION: Read no further if you are offended by completely trivial girl stuff.
OK, so here's what I got! As Melissa says, I dropped it like it was hot. (The money, I mean, and if that means anything bad, Melissa and I don't know it does so forgive us.) The cutest cuffed jean capris EVER. (I got them at Banana Republic and I never would have spent as much as I did on them, but remember, I had a gift certificate and, by the way, I met one of our Bible study sisters who worked there and we had the best time together visiting through the dressing room door.) I also got a darling large billed straw hat for when I'm in my backyard in the sunshine messin' with my birdfeeders and my flowers. (My sweet and very committed dermatologist says absolutely NO SUN on the face. At my age, I mind her.) A couple of little T's for wearing under stuff that would otherwise be too low. (Modesty isn't always easy with some of the cute summer stuff, Siestas, but it's a must if we're going to walk our talk.) THEN, I went to Steinmart (still with gift certificate) and got two new jackets and one pair of brown dress capris for speaking (I had told myself I wouldn't spend my birthday money on work clothes but I couldn't resist and, anyway, they'll certainly be put good use.) And my favorite part was a brand new pair of chocolate brown patent leather open-toed heels. They are DELICIOUS!!!! And, dern it, then I went over my gift certificate balance and had to put some on my own card. To top it off, on the way home, I had to stop at Walgreens (thank goodness not for you know what) for a thing or two and I splurged on a jar of macadamia nuts and ate a third of them on the way home like I just didn't care that they were about a million grams of fat. Nope. On your birthday, you get to not care. (And I don't know about you, but it's still my birthday as long as I'm still getting presents.) It was a great day and everyone involved (me) had such a good time! Seems like I'm forgetting something I got. If it's of great significance, I'll let you know. OH! I know one thing I wanted to say. A few of you asked for pictures of some of it. I've got to learn how to do that. AJ knows how but I don't. Keith's got a really great camera but I'm too scared to use it. I just need to get me one of those digital disposables. I'll see if I can learn how soon.
NOW, for a couple of far more important things: Melissa is off to a terrific start at LPM. We are beside ourselves to have her. She and I are having a total blast comparing notes and she is researching so hard (and her office is really cute. She was an interior design major before God called her to Bible exegesis and, clearly, some of it stuck.) I have stacks of Esther commentaries that I've already begun studying one by one. (I read numbers of them before I ever write the first word. Won't start writing still for several weeks at least.) I've assigned Melissa a couple of tough books of the far more academic variety on what we're studying and she has specific instructions on what she's to do with them. She's already got pages of notes for me to give a look and consider. I already know that I'm going to be able to use several things she's discovered and I'm so excited. Melissa is not afraid of hard work and I am so proud of her, just like I am of her big sister. Melissa is having a hard time being in Houston without AJ, though. She tells me almost everyday, "I want Amanda to move HOME! I want her to work at Living Proof with me HERE!" If and when God wills. Right now, my firstborn's getting to work out of her own home and still be with my grandson!
Lastly, if you get a chance, be sure and read our Siesta's excerpt from Tozer on meekness. It's under the "Missed You a Ton" comments and it is INCREDIBLE. Look among the longer entries and you'll easily find it. I've read that book more than once in past years but I didn't recall those exact words. So rich! You guys make me want to love Jesus more. That's the kind of folks I like nearby. And that's what Siestas are for. I love you.

Beth, Amanda and Melissa,
Thank you so much for the gift of this blog..... It always brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. The shopping trip sounds SO fun.... what a perfect birthday treat! God Bless.
With love,
Kim
nIf my mother-in-law - who has NEVER met a Steinmart she didn't adore (only she says "Steinmarts") - were to read about those brown dress capri pants and those chocolate brown shoes, she would clap her hands and say, "Oh! That's so much fun! That's just more fun! Isn't that the most fun?"
Thanks for sharing your fun with all of us. Sometimes a girl just needs to shop. And I'll be glad to finish any leftover macadamia nuts as a pure act of selfless service. Just so you know.
Beth,
It is so fun to hear your accounts of life. Your mishaps, your joys, your struggles. I thought that I would share one of my joys with you: I never was able to master the gears on a bike (like a ten speed when I was a kid) but the dream of riding a bike with the wind in my hair has never left me. Well, I just found out that they are making what they call cruiser bikes: fat tires, 3 speed on a dial at the handle bar and foot brakes! Maybe because of baby boomers hitting the scene. I approached the subject with my husband who was initially adamantly opposed to it but slowly warmed up to the idea. Yesterday we ordered one to try out! (They don't stock them, still too many 20 somethings walking in the door). Anyway I know it sounds silly but usually it's the cute clothes that get me excited and this is so different and so exciting. So once I get this bike, no hairspray for me!!!
What fun! I just discovered the clothing section at Anthropologie today...BIG mistake! Unique and adorable (but whoo-boy, highly priced). Jesus sent my "way out" (1 Cor 10:13) via our 8 year old son who kept holding his nose and saying "IT SMELLS LIKE GIRLS IN HERE....CAN WE PLEEEEAAASSSSE GO NOW?!"
Happy continued birthday. So glad you were born, Beth.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! hearing about the shopping!!! Glad you had such a wonderful day, you deserve it so much!
STEF
did you end up at thoses stores because The banana republic, The steinmart and The walgreens were closed!!!!!
Love the trivial girl stuff!
Hey we can be serious students of God's Word and still wear cute capri pants and love shoes!
Love the piece on meekness. I just did a presentation on humility at a women's conference because the Lord has been working on me in this area.
Wanted to give a shout out to the proffesor who blogged earlier. I teach in a college as well. In the communication department. I teach intepersonal comm and public speaking. (By the way Beth you get an "A." I actually show clips of you in class as a good example and "oops" sometimes students "accidently" hear about the Lord in a secular setting.)
If it is O.K. I would like to ask for prayer. I will be having back surgery next Monday July 2nd at 7:15 a.m.
Thank you so much. I love you my siestas in Christ.
It's all about Him!

Thanks so much for filling us in on the birthday shopping spree! I am a sucker for the girly details. ;) And I so agree with this bit: "On your birthday, you get to not care. (And I don't know about you, but it's still my birthday as long as I'm still getting presents.)"
Glad to hear Melissa is off to such a good start at LPM. What a blessing to have both daughters involved! It is encouraging to see how they are both living out their legacy. My husband and I don't have children yet but I am already praying for the ones to come, that they will love Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
Beth
I loved hearing about your birthday shopping spree. So glad you had fun and found some neat things.
Sounds like Melissa is settling in nicely at LPM and will be a great asset to everyone. To this day, I go back and read Melissa's post back in February. It blessed my heart and quite frankly opened my eyes to the part our society plays in the downfall of celebriies when we idolize or worship them.
Seistas, if you've not read it go back and check it out.
Melissa, I'm looking forward to more of your thoughts in the future. You are in my prayers as you get settled in at LPM.
Amanda,
Thank you sooooo much for keeping us connected through this blog. I appreciate your hard work. Please know my heart has been blessed beyond measure by you love for me and the Siestas.
It is so much fun to hang out here with so many sweet friends in Christ.
Have a great week everyone!
p.s. just followed your suggestion re:Tozer..i like the soul rest idea...Sabbath and a wild ride at the same time!!!

We Are Best Friends FOREVER!!!
Yo are the most fun Beth! Just wanted you to know that! <3
Oh This is sounded so fun...what a blast..arent birthdays just the funiest things...I am so glad to hear yall are starting to feel on the mend and that Melissa is doing so well. I can't wait to see what you do with Esther. I am doing your Daniel study and let me tell you I am being stretched beyond my mind. I have been realizing that God has been asking me to simplify my life and look at my choices and let me tell you I have not always been very agreeable about that...but I have been on my knees and this week I began by clearing the clutter out of my house..so far I have two rooms done..and then God went further and said simplify your time on the net so I gave up my website and came here cause I have to have my siestas and somewhere to share with them what God is doing in my life...this giving up and making changes has been hard...but I have been reciting I will have joy...and working on the memory verse you asked to learn from Daniel...God is so good...I am sorry for writing a book here but I am just so excited about what He is doing to my little ole heart .
love ya Miss Beth and Melissa and Amanda too
Tammy
Happy Birthday Beth and we are so glad you are back. Would it not be soooo fun if we could all go shopping together? My daughters and I have great times together, doing just that. You are such a blessing in the lives of my daughters and myself..I've told you before about my 16 year old with cerebral palsy, she has such a SENSE OF HUMOR and cracks us up. She has watched all of your videos so know we have gone to taping you on Wednesdays...and she thinks you are histerical..her brother cracks her up pretty good too!! Thanks for all your dedication and for loving us ALL so dearly.
Much love,
Stacy
Sounds like you had a successful shopping spree, Beth! Stretch this birthday out as long as you can, girl!!! Just returned from church...great day.
I'm looking forward to WOF in Atlanta in August! My friend and I are going to the pre-conference you are teaching...can't wait. In the meantime, my hubby and I will be leading missions teams in Romania for 26 days. Hopefully, I can pull up the Living Proof website and check the blog entries. I'll sure be praying for you.
Thank you, Beth, for being so real, so excited about Jesus, and so faithful to His Word! I love you, Siesta!!!

Glad to got to have some "you" time with the shopping. That's always a delight, isn't it?
You see mto share our family's outlook on birthdays. They start early, they late long, and it's just too much fun to stop!
Speaking of which, I'm off to buy stuff to make a cake. Tomorrow is the hubby's big day. Big number 48.
I can't understand how he keeps getting older. Hmmm.
Happiest of birthdays to you, Beth!
ya know we're gonna be watching for those sassy shoes!
lovin life in Him-lisa
Oh I am so glad you had a great time. It sounds like God led you right to some perfect choices (the chocolate shoes sounds yummy cute)!!
I know you are thrilled to have Melissa home and working with you -what a joy!!
Oh and if Amanda could come home too .... It might just be too much - hehe!!
God bless sweet Beth,
Kim
pps....thank goodness for the bday presents of what-sounds-like-an-adorable bird-feeder (i want this one) and a beautiful water fountain (that would be Jackson's choice)...that straw duck-billed number will need some accessories...for sure!
Hey, girls can have a little fun too, right? Shopping is definately on my list of fun things to do! Do some really get offended by trivial girl stuff?
As much as I appreciate all that I have learned through your studies, I also appreciate hearing about the "girl stuff".
It is fun to share with others who care! Hey, that rhymes..:)
Beth,
O, how I would love to run into you one day like your Bible study sister did while you were shopping.. Or, I would love to sit in your Garden with you (Straw Hat and all), and talk about what the Lord is doing in both of our lives.. Much of what He has done in my life has to do with you and your ministry. I'm so thankful...
I am so glad that both of your daughters (they are so precious in their own individual ways...see I can call them precious because I am in my 30's :) are working with you at LPM. I can't wait to see how God will use the addition of Melissa at LPM.
Amanda and Melissa, thank you for sharing your lives, and your awesome mom with us... I can't wait to see what the Lord will do through both of you as well.
Blessings and so much love goes out to you from your SIESTA... Kim
Wow! How fun to go shopping and spend someone elses money! :)
I'm excited about a study on Esther. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one. I'll have to do it on my own, even if it comes out before I get my Master's Degree in Early Childhood, which I'm about to start. Kind of nervous! But Esther is near and dear to my heart, so I'll have to make time for that study! :)
God Bless,
Michelle
Just busting at the seems here with love!! From CHOCOLATE brown patent leather heels to Tozer!! Amen, sisters; Jesus loves us! So glad you love God and you're fun, Beth. I'll be looking for those new outfits in D.C.
HA!!!!! You always have a way of making me laugh out loud. You know, the deep belly laugh. And my husband gets a kick out of seeing me laugh so hard at the computer screen. Then I have to read it to him and I get to laugh all over again with him.
By the way, my birthday is today. My daughter helps lead worship at our church, so she and our worship leader thought it would be great fun to have me come up in front of the church while everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. I wanted to go through the floor. Fortunately, it is a short song. I really did not know what to do with myself while everyone was staring at me and singing to me.
I would have loved to have gone birthday shopping with you! My gift, however, was one of those really nice cameras that you spoke of. And I am NOT afraid to use it!! I got some great shots of my daughter worshiping on stage this morning. Do you think that is okay to do during church? I only took 87 pictures!!!!!
I am glad you had a wonderful day. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I want my birthday back after reading that!!! Although I was also amply spoiled on my own day back in April, I sure wouldn't mind having another go at it. :) I'm so glad you got a chance to spoil yourself. Like you always say, it's ALL God's grace that gives us blessing after blessing in our lives, and like you also always say, He delights in delighting us. :) I sure hope you get that picture-posting-of-goodies thing figured out, because I'm all about sharing with others' joy, and I'd love to see everything you got!
What a blessing your daughters are to not only you as their Mama, but also to all we Siestas. They've most definitely gotten the fire lit under them like you have under you, and I pray that it just keeps growing and growing! I admit, I need to look up exactly what Biblical Exegesis entails, but it sounds like something I would've had the energy for fifteen years ago and wish I had now. :)
I've always had fair skin and I'm getting one too many freckles -- thank you for the loving reminder to be careful. I've never been a hat person (LOVE 'em on other people, not so much on myself) but I think I'd better learn to love 'em on me.
Wow, I just went a little nuts on my response here, didn't I? (((blush))) Thank you, Ms. Beth, for your faithful commitment to keeping us connected to you, and to each other, as sisters in Christ. I love Him more every day, and that's the absolute truth! He IS the Great Adventure!!!
- Lisa in Western PA
Here is a bit of useless trivial information: I have one sister, and our names are Melissa and Amanda. There are 3 years between us. My name (Melissa) came from my great-grandmother. My sister's name (Amanda) came from some novel my mother was reading while she was pregnant. I am the oldest in our family, though.
Oh, too fun!! I am sure it is all precious, simply because your precious!
After reading this post, I thought of the time after "When Godly People do Ungodly Things" you had the question/answer time. My mom and I stayed and the first question that was asked was "Where do you get your clothes?" I laughed, because you responded with saying you just can't tell us. I love it. That was it and we moved on to the next quesiton. OH, I love it.
Glad you had a good birthday and good shopping day.
Happy Shoppy day to you, Happy Shoppy day to you, Happy Shoppy day to Beth, Happy Shoppy day to you!
I'm so glad you're still having a great birthday! I totally love your philosophy on still celebrating since you're still getting presents. I'm going to definitely put that into practice. :)
I also wanted to write and simply say Thank You, Beth! You are an inspiration and encouragement to me. You love for God and His Word is so contagious!
Well, this SC gal is heading to bed. We did a HUGE STINKIN yard sale this weekend for my mother in law and I'm so tired I could probably sleep through a hurricane.
Love Ya'll... mean it :o)
I'm proud of you Beth. You did a great job taking care of that gift certificate. I tend to get in the store and just stand there in a state of confusion trying desperately to remember what I have and what will go with what and what I need.....You can tell I don't have to get dressed up very often. I guess I just don't get out enough.
It must be heaven to have Melissa working with you. I just love being with my grown children. They just bless me more than I can ever say.
I am looking forward to that Esther study. I'll be praying for you girls as you do the research.
I read those comments about meekness, as well as many other sweet things people said about you. We all love you so much. I think you do such a good job of showing him to us that we can't help but love you. Looking forward to WOF in Atlanta.

As Amanda would say, chocolate patent leather open toe shoes are my love language.
Sweet Beth,
Well, praise God that you and all the family are well, that you had a fabulous birthday week (and will continue for a year!) AND that you were given a shopping spree! I have missed you!
BROWN PATENT LEATHER PEAK-A-BOOS??? I am pea-green with envy! Of course, I couldn't wear the high heels, but I can pretend. Surely, for all of us who adore shoes, you will model them and post a picture?!?
Loved all the birthday pictures, so thank you, ladies (daughters A&M and LPM Staff) for your efforts to let us share in the celebration!
As I approach my big 60th this fall, I can tell you, Beth, that the next ten years will give you blessings that you cannot begin to imagine! In the past 10 years I have endured my worst trials, and my greatest blessings. One of my greatest blessings has been meeting you, Beth, through all of your Bible studies, and REALLY learning how to study the Bible and retain Scripture verses. I will never know enough, but the more I study, the more I learn....an ongoing process for life! So thank you, dear friend!
Now I have a confession, after looking at Beth's picture at Starbucks in those high heels and cute dress, looking like she is 25 years old. We just received pictures from our daughter's wedding. I have been highlighting my hair for years, mainly because I always wanted to be blond (like my 2 sisters) and my hair bordered on being black, it was so dark. However, when the first white hair appeared, it was just the excuse I needed. Quick as a wink, I went to the beauty parlor and had my hair highlighted (we called it frosting back then). Well, in the pictures, I think I look like Methusalah, so I went quick as a wink back to the salon (new name for the beauty parlor)and had my hair dyed back dark!!! First 3 comments I heard were, "You look 10 years younger!" So now I get to be 50 again! What a nice early birthday present!!!
I can't wait for the bloggers event! Thanks, Beth, for thinking of it! Count me in! Who knows what color my hair will be!!!
Fellow bloggers: I am trying to figure out how to put the list of Healing Scriptures and the Armor of God Prayer on a blog. I am waiting on my son to help me.(Please don't laugh.) Until then, my e-mail is: preciousginny@gmail.com.
Much love to you, Beth, and thanks for being such an obedient servant of the Lord's to us. We are blessed by every teaching we receive from you. Have a great week ladies!
Well, I finally created a google account so I don't always have to post "anonymously". I of course want to be included in the Siesta Retreat, Conference, whatever we want to call it if the Father wills it! That would be so much fun! :) I have been reading this blog a while and it is such an encouragement to me. I am so glad that you were so blessed on your birthday. And gift certificates are the best birthday gifts, I think! I love them! Have a wonderful week and I'll be watching you all week on Life Today with James and Betty.
Amanda, I'm the one the posted the comment about where you and Curt went in Mexico. My husband and I are planning on going and we cannot decide on where to go. Give me some ideas if you've got some! :)
Happy week to everyone!
So glad the shopping trip was fun! Did you get to enjoy some Starbucks on the way back?!
Can't wait for the Esther study!!! She is one of my favorite women of the Bible.
Praying for you Nicole!
Love and hugs,
Dawn
*Sooooo* sorry if this is sent twice! My connection for my previous comment was lost just as I clicked "publish".
I will certainly be praying for your & Melissa's study of Esther. I *love, love, love* digging into commentaries and doing research! :) We are in our third summer of trying to finish OT Survey (now starting at Judges/Ruth/Samuel). :)
In regards to modesty, I just wanted to say thank you for your specific efforts in that area. I am *not* a girl who is much into shopping (my fashion tastes tend to run about a hundred forty-five years behind current trends) :-D but I have always noticed that your clothes for each videotaping are definitely "in style" for the time at which they are taped and yet are always modest.
God has helped me to understand the imporance of modesty and it is so *encouraging* to see other girls who love God, look great and demonstrate both. :) So, thank you!
Have a *delightful* first full week of summer! :)
~Deborah
Oh my Beth – I love the way you look at words and their meanings. It just sort of opens up the whole understanding of the intent. BUT…you give a new definition to the word “tad”. In your entry on June 23rd you said you were going for a “tad of shopping”. My kids and I use the word and it would never be used to describe you shopping spree! I am SO glad you did enjoy yourself – birthdays are special when you are our ages and are enjoying who you are!
Thanks for mentioning the quote from Tozer – wonderful words! Just right for me at this time and am going to email them to a girlfriend (a Siesta!). Another quote you may appreciate (if you are not already aware of it..) is Vance Havner’s comments on Eph 3:20 (God is able to do exceeding abundantly…)
“So often we miss so much because we live on the low level of the natural, the ordinary and the explainable. We leave no room for God to do the exceeding abundantly more than we can ever ask or think.”
I am praying for you as you enter into the new Study – that God will have His precious way with you and then you can pass it along to us!
Thanks also for this blog – you and your daughters are wonderful instruments of our Father.
Dear ladies,
I have posted the Healing Scriptures and Armor of God prayer on my blog (I really hope this works!). Blog is:
http://preciousginny.blogspot.com/
Hope this helps all of you. Thank you for your requests!
Beth,
I loved - loved - loved the excerpt from Tozer. I have copied it and sent it on to bless others the way it did me.
Can't wait to see those shoes. ;)
Much love,
Kim in Katy
I love posts like this! haha o you make me laugh! We girls get so excited about our new cute clothes...its great! You never cease to brighten my day!!
You go girl! What would we do without "trivial girl stuff?"...I think it's God's way of blessing us for all the "not-so-trivial" stuff we endure!
My heart just rejoices with you over the fact that you get to work with your girls! What a blessing! Welcome aboard Melissa!
Sounds like you had a fun day! And while you were shopping for cute things I watched video seven of Daniel. The first words out of my friends mouth were "CUTE JEANS." :) I'm usually focused on your hair and this time was no different. I said "CUTE HAIR!" And then I told my friend, "she's shopping right now." And then I thought, "I want her to take me shopping. She's always so cute."
Anyways, I truly meant what I said about how you display Tozer's description of what meekness is. It's really how I see you. From all you've shared about yourself in your teachings and writings you show absolute meekness. It's awesome to see what you've allowed God to do in your life despite all of the VERY HARD things you've been through. What a GREAT AND AWESOME GOD WE SERVE!
Love you bunches and bunches Siesta,
Kristi
LOVED the Tozer excerpt. Powerful. And loved hearing every detail about your shopping expedition. What a blast you had, I bet.
Beth,
I just thought I would take the opportunity to thank you for writing back to my sister-in-law,Corrie Clay. I had sent you a letter a month ago and that was such an encouragement for her to get a response.
God informed her of the ministry he has planned for her 4 years ago, and now she is just waiting to be able to do it full time. She is undergoing some serious attacks from Satan through an autoimmune disease (Takaysu's arteritus).
I told her that I just know that this is going to be "Beth Moore Big", and we just laughed. I know that it is definitely going to be "God Big" and that is HUGE.
Corrie has a website about this ministry if anyone wants to check it out or if you need a speaker for an event-she is constantly looking for opportunities to go and speak this message.
This is her website,
www.fillingthegapministries.com
Also, if you really want her to come speak at your church you can email me at ktaylor83@charter.net
Beth, I'm so proud that you spent your B'day gifts on yourself. We're so tempted to buy things for our children and "grandchildren"!
You deserve everything you received and so much more! You are such a wonderful blessing to me. My birthday gift to you is a prayer that the Lord will continue using you to minister to us all.
Blessings, Ginger
A girl after my own heart - loves Jesus more than anything - loves her family - and loves shopping! :)
I promise AJ can teach you how to use the digital. I wonder what Keith has that camera for??? I am kidding because I crack up when I see the pictures that my husband takes. It is usually some sort of green field. So funny!!
Can't wait for Esther! Praying!
Happy Belated Birthday Mrs. Moore!!
I love you all!
And I'm very soon leaving in about a week for a large Asian country that rhymes with Dinah to minister to students there. (technically I'm leaving for training in a week and then I go...whatever) I'm so excited!
Prayers from anyone who reads this would be a blessing. :-)
Beth,
Any chance we'll see those cute new clothes at the WOF Pre-Conference in Washington DC?
I'll be there with my teenage daughter - it's her first "stadium" Christian event. We have new capris, too. ;)
BTW, next door to the Verizon Center (across 7th Street) is the newly reopened National Portrait Gallery - a magnificent building recognizing important Americans. It's free, it's fabulous, it's air conditioned and a reminder that each person can make a difference.
Sounds like you had a fantastic time! That is wonderful! Auhhhh shopping, does a body good =)
Yeah. That excerpt from AW Tozer was pretty cool. I'm just impressed that she's reading AW Tozer and doing the Daniel study. I didn't do any other reading of any kind when I was in that study. I'm still confused and I finished it months ago. I clearly didn't pay enough attention in History class in school. The only name I actually recognized in that whole thing was Alexander the Great and I found out just how little I knew about him.
What a blessing to get to work with your daughters! I'm sure you thank God every day for girls who love Jesus and serve Him. :>)
I love Esther but now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever done or seen a really good Bible study on it. One of my favorite verses in the book is chapter 4 verse 14 where Mordecai is talking to Esther:
"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”
It always serves to remind me that God's plans are so much bigger than I am, and He doesn't *need* me but He *chooses* to use me. He has put me in just the right place, in just the right circumstances to be perfectly suited for His purposes. Amen and amen.
Bethany
Oh my goodness. . . chocolate brown patent leather open-toed heels!! Just where in the world did you find them??? Woo hoo! What a find! (and yes, I love shoes, not as much as Jesus or my family. . . wait a minute on the family. . just kidding. . lol)
What a blessing to have Melissa on board at LPM. All I can say is Wheaton trains 'em well. You're in good hands. Can't wait to see what the two of you discover about Esther.
Crazy for Christ,
(and shoes too!)
~Cheryl
St. Louis
It sounds like you got some great finds with your gift cards. Way to go! It is so good when all involved are having a good time.
Hi Beth!
I love a good shopping spree. I had one just Saturday, as a matter of fact! I've had you on my blog reading list for a while, but haven't ever left a comment. I feel like there are so many, that one more won't add anything. But, I decided to leave one anyway!
I wanted to tell you that I love your blog. I love that I can hear your voice through what you write. I'm currently living in the UK with hubby and 3 children and unable to do your studies with any girlfriends like I usually do. And I miss you, girl! So, reading your blog has been just the ticket for me! BTW, I read your blog with the Beth-Texas-Accent! And --LOVED the Tozer quotes from last posts comments. Thanks for mentioning.
Glad you had a good time. Thanks for letting us vicariously enjoy the day!
Sounds like a WONDERFUL birthday shopping spree! It cracked me up to hear you describe your capris as "work clothes"...!
Hugs,
Adrienne
Oh Beth, it sounds like you had a great time at the mall and Steinmart is one of my favorite places to shop. It's ok you spent some of your gift certificates on work clothes, clothes is clothes and you always look cute, beautiful and just plain gorgeous in whatever you wear! I was very excited to hear about the shoes!! I am a shoe gal and I am of the mindset that you can't have to many. Alot of times I buy the shoes and then the outfit. Oh, I laughed when you said as long as you are getting presents it's still your birthday! Amen to that! In our family our birthdays last for a week. Is that terrible?! I am still excited that I get to spend my birthday with you at Deeper Still in Nashville, that is a great present! I am so glad Melissa had a great 1st week at work. God is so good!! Who knows, maybe God will move Amanda and Curtis and Jackson back to Houston. :o) Enjoy your week and have fun with Jesus!
Love,
Patty
Happy Birthday Beth! I've been traveling for more than a week so I had to get caught up on all the happenings! 50 is a blast! I just rolled over to 51 today June 25th. But I must confess I've decided not to read Oswald on my birthday. Check it out--"Receiving yourself in the fires of sorrow". Oh well...maybe I could just skip and come back to that one another day. Well, your shopping trip sounded great and I know it was well deserved. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I have been a faithful "lurker" here until today. Beth, what you said in your closing words ("You guys make me want to love Jesus more. That's the kind of folks I like nearby.")struck a chord in my heart and I just had to comment.
You and all of our fellow siestas here in blogland do exactly that for me. You make me want to love Jesus more! Since I am a "worker" in a country whose major religion is not Christianity, I don't have the privilege of having many folks like this nearby. All of you are quickly becoming the people who encourage me to keep on loving Him.
This is one of the main places where I'm spurred on toward love and good deeds and encouraged! Thanks, siestas! Whether you know it or not, you've been doing Hebrews 10:23-25 for me!
Princess Beth,
I love it! I love it! I love it! I am a believer that the birthday is not over until the presents stop! I am also a lover of AW Tozer along with Andrew Murray, Brother Lawrence, and well the truth be known if they loved Jesus and wrote a book...i probably love it! I don't watch television unless I can find Christian programming, and I just read in my spare time. Of Course my Bible is my favorite book.
I am also excited about melissa being with you. Through your studies I just feel like I know ya all, and I have prayed those babies of yours through weddings, and college. Do you think Melissa will blog? I am just waiting to hear from her.
I am going to be patient to see the pics as I also don't know how to put pictures on. As many know, my page is not even a page yet, just my name...hahaha I will get to it!
Amanda is darling! and I love hearing from her too.
Praying God's protection on you and all at LPM...this blog really is a blessing, and an encouragement to me. Love you, all eyes fixed on Jesus!
Beth -
It sounds like you had such a good time. Don't feel bad about the nuts, I agree that if you are still getting presents then it is still okay to not feel guilt. By looking at you you don't splurge too much because your "temple" always looks great. You must be very disciplined on a normal day. However, it sounds like you got to get some great presents! Glad you had so much fun. You are the best. Glad you and Melissa are hitting it off so well (like we knew that you wouldn't?!) and I know she will do a great job. After all, she is her momma's girl right? Take care and keep loving Jesus!
Hey Beth,
I read the Tozer comment. It was exactly relevant to a discussion in my Sunday school class on Sunday. We were talking about how to get your head around the point that in God's eyes we are Saints when we feel and act like such sinners. Our pastor spends a lot of time on trying to get us to understand "who we are in Christ." This exert was an AHA moment for me. Now I have to read the book! I know the comment was for you but Thanks Kristi.
Nothing like a good shopping spree to keep your mind off the age thing. It always works for me.
Kathy
I'm blind I couldn't find it lol.
Anyways, I wish I could go on a shopping spree, for the moment its all Walmart and Goodwill for this college bound girl lol.
I have more of a habit of buying books and music before clothes.
I appreciate what you wrote about modesty. Its true, and I have never seen you wear anything that was the least bit revealing.
We need to remember that.
I have got to get ready for work, love you siestas!
PS. I saw Life Today this morning, we have Beth a whole week again YAY!
" God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." I don't remember where in Peter that is at the moment, but that is her message, talk about a break down ladies!
Angie
Fun stuff! :) Where is the Tozer reference on meekness? I can't find it. Amanda - God spoke through you a few weeks ago in a very small statement you made regarding your camp experience with Jackson and something about "when that part of us dies to self - and we're just happy being a Mom with our new life (vs wanting the old one and the old fun)." Hugely paraphrasing. God has done a work in the first seven years of my daughter's life--BUT, I think it took me way to long to come to that 'dying to self' part. So ashamed--but so thankful to the Lord. Listening to your Mom's love for Jackson is so healing for me..I want that love for kids. I love my little one..but based on my past and what was poured into me (or wasn't)--it's a definitely work of the Lord. Thank you for letting Jesus rock our socks off through your family. :) Be blessed in Him! -Kris
Beth,
I've shopped viacriously through you today, and let me tell you how thrilled I am to have found something that actually fits and that I could afford!
Hi Beth! Thank you for sharing your B'day "gifts" with us! Don't you just love being girly! I love dressing up....something my mother instilled in me very young. Since we were preacher kids, we always had to be on our best behavior and always be "dressed" up.... I wished more ladies felt that way, especially the "young" ladies. I, too am a believer of being "modest"...we are to set that example because we may be the only "bible" someone "reads"...and if we're gonna talk the talk, we better be walking the walk!
Love you!
Beth in NC
Let me first say that it's good to know that my own personal "National Holiday" is as close to your personal "National Holiday". Mine is tomorrow (the 26th) and I've already begun the celebrations!
My first was yesterday at church. We had a huge "Celebrate America" program but I like to subtitle it with "and Valarie's Birthday"! I just have to tell you that I "hooked up" with a Siesta from Greenville, SC thru this blog and we've been emailing and calling on the phone since you were in Columbia BUT she came to my church yesterday to see our program and I FINALLY got to squeeze her scrawny neck!! AND she surprised me with your "David" 90 day journal!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!
Thank you, again, for starting this blog and for bringing us Siesta's together!! I know the Father is pleased!!!
Beth, I'm so glad you had such a fabulous shopping spree. Sounds like a good time was had by all.(you) Steinmart and Banana Republic are two of a girl's best friends.
I did the Daniel study during the spring and have to tell you it was life changing. I was more interested in the first part as we got started. God had been speaking some of those truths to me already, such as: when will it be enough, when will you be satisfied, etc. We helped an elderly cousin move last year and her house was full of treasures hoarded over the years. She's all alone in the world except for us. It was very sad because those things and hefty bank accounts were all she had to show for 83 years of living. She never had any children and lost her husband over 20 years ago.She has dementia and doesn't even remember all her beautiful things now. Even though she still has many of them she'll ask "who does that belong
to ?"So I was definitely in the mood for a little perspective on being a material girl. I have to say however, that the prophecy part blew my mind. Thank you for having faith that we could handle it. It made me want to dig so much deeper.
It made me really put this whole life in perspective. It is just the beginning of our stories. So many adventures to come. I always look forward to the next study with great anticipation. Can't wait!
I'm so happy to hear that your precious daughters are such a help to you now. My daughter is 21 and just becomes more darling to me every day, so I love to see and hear about your girls. May the Lord continue to bless you in all you do and show your entire family favor.
Michelle
Beth you are so funny!! I too like to celebrate birthdays for as long as possible! =) Sound like a lot of fun!! Have a great day!
Thanks for the girly news...I hate to shop but I want clothes so I have lived vicariuosly through your posting.
Today is my birthday and my husband has forgotten, I am trying to decide how long to wait to drop a hint.
Anyway this is a day the Lord has made and I am rejoicing and glad in it, I hope all you siestas are rejoicing as well and praising Him this a.m.
Looking so forward to the Esther study.
Annette
Beth,
I really look forward to reading your blog. Thanks for being real...it means a lot.
Shalom, Cristi
My husband was hired by our state convention as a campus minister right before their campus ministers' family retreat in Branson, Missouri...they gave each wife a gift certificate to the outlet mall, and put in the agenda that one afternoon the husbands were to take the kids and let the wives shop. It was SO MUCH FUN!! What made me share this was that I went over, too. I tried to convince my husband that it was a matching funds deal, but since the other wives did better than me, he didn't fall for it. Hee hee. Thank you God for providing and for blessing and for fun!
Recovering Shopaholic Kecia
Just thought I'd say hello! I have some extra time on my hands as my 2 1/2 year old has gone to his grandmothers for the week. It's sad to be without him but I know grandparents need their time. So it's just me and the 13 month old .. oh and the hubby too when he's home from work. :)
Just took some time to read around and enjoyed the blog. Beth, thanks for speaking such words of life. God uses you in great ways in the lives of many women. Thanks for being willing to be a vessel He can use. I know that with that comes many extra times of fire in your life caused by the enemy who doesn't want you to be used. Thank you for being willing to stand on the front lines and proclaim what God lays on your heart. To God be the Glory!
I loved hearing about your shopping spree! Thanks so much for pointing us to the Tozer excerpt. Wonderful!
I just love you so much, Dear Siesta in Christ, and I look forward everyday to a word from you.
I'm off to watch you in Session 3 of my Believing God internet study. I am just soaking it up and loving every minute of it!!
Dana
Beth!
I so enjoy you sharing your life with us! It is so fun to read about! And ofcourse it makes me feel like I know you so well! I have posted several times on this blog, and once after the simulcast very defeated. BUT, I am dying to share with you that I am a FREE woman now! My deliverance has come! For me, GOD delivered me awhile back, only I was too shamed to walk in it...do you know what I mean? I was too comfortable in my pit, to realize it was much more wonderful out of it! It was like I was hovering down in it for security! Anyhow, GOD gave me a new song and I want to share it with you. A good friend of mine recently spoke at a women's conference on how the first song we learn in church is Jesus loves me. But in life that song changes to Jesus can't love me, this I know, for my experience tells me so. Well, GOD gave me new lyrics to the familiar Jesus loves me, and it goes like this:
Jesus still loves me, this I know
for the Bible tells me so
Shamed and scarred to Him belong
We are weak, but He is strong
Yes, Jesus still loves me
Yes, my Jesus still loves me
Yes, my Jesus still loves me
for the Bible tells me so
Jesus still loves me, He who died
It was for my sins He was crucified
He desires for me to believe
Nothing I've done can change His love for me. (Repeat Chorus)
I am sorry this is so long, but it was a combination of that conference, Believing GOD, the simulcast, Get Out of that Pit, and my personal time with my LORD that has brought me to this place, where GOD set my feet upon a rock and gave me a new song!
I just wanted to say thank you for being apart of that! I can't wait to see you in Atlanta!
Love,
Holly, Ga
I think you are a hoot, Siesta Beth! I am glad you are "you" in all of your intensity in loving Jesus and being HIS daughter, but also being happy to find something pretty to wear that is modest (geez that is a chore at times and I get so frustrated with this culture!!)
But, I just want to say to dear AJ - "Thank you for everything you do here. Even though Jackson is the apple of your eye, it's tough being away from your extended family and a fairly new mommy. I remember it well. You love it all, but sometimes you feel a little unappreciated. You are doing the greatest job of anyone, raising that little one to be a man of GOD."
Thank you Siesta, A.J. We love you and your hard work!
As your Mama would say, "We esteem that!"
HIS daughter and your siesta,
Teri S
Beth...thanks so much for sharing your shopping adventure with your sietas...so glad to share such great blessing with each other...love you so much...
ARGH!!! YOuldu CANNOT crow about cute clothes deals without pictures!!! I sooo wanna see!
Thank you for posting your "insignificant silly girl talk." It is so helpful to me as a 33 year old girl who loves Jesus to see that it is okay to be excited about fun stuff as well. I have spent my entire life being terrified (literally) of God and Jesus and just in the past 5 years am learning to walk in truth and it is very helpful to me to see how you deal with "non-spiritual" stuff in your life. I was raised in a Christian home but i am learning now that so much of it was Christian in name only and not in heart. You would love to know that God has used the most painful things of my life (my husband of 5 years leaving when my daughter was 1 week old) to teach me about His character. And every lack in my life I know now will be the biggest blessings because God gets to use my lack of time, money, wisdom, and resources to teach me what i truly needed to know-that he is good and trustworthy and that He LOVES me. So i am still a single mom who might not look like much on the outside, but i am a girl who has had the priviledge of such hard and painful times that my roots go deep into Him and i can truly trust Him with everything in my life. I have been set free beyond what i knew existed. I used to think that you could either be happy OR be a Christian and i could weep even now when i think of all that Christ has done for me. My life, although still hard and painful, is characterized by JOY and REST in letting Him be God to me. And your obedience and transparency has been such a GIFT in my life, so thank you for letting us see all aspects of what a godly (yet just human like the rest of us) woman and mother looks like. And for everyone in the midst of pain, dont stop giving Him room and surrendering to Him. He is SO WORTH IT!!
Beth,
I was thrilled to read about your birthday shopping spree this morning, since today's my birthday and I'm spending a "girly girls" day out. Shopping is on my agenda after a gift of a facial and then I have gift cards to spend! I hope I some great things today too and that the clothes don't reject me. Is there anything worse?
By the way, I was thinking it would be fun to hear from other Siestas who is the "Queen" of their iPod. I'm always looking for new worship music to lead in me as I praise the King!
Hi Beth,
I am so glad you had a great Birthday!! I love Birthdays and think that it is a great time to let people know how you feel about them and maybe make them feel a little special for at least a day. One day out of 365 isn't bad.
I loved the entry by Kristi that you pointed out for us to read. So many times we confuse meekness with weakness, but in our paradoxical Christian world it is when we are weak that HE is strong. Paul states the following after receiving a thorn in his flesh. 2 Cor. 8-10 " Three times I pleaded with the LORD to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therfore I will booast all the more gladly aobut my weaknesses, so that Christ's power my rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hearships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
When we are weak we get out of the way and let GOD work. I am a physical therapist and GOD has granted me the privelge to work with individuals that are experiencing pain or disability in their life. Mnay of them have shared the above passage with me and they cling to it. I will also share with them the quote from Kristi's entry. Thanks for sharing that with us....
Good day to all,
K
Hi Beth,
Thank you for sharing all of the fun that you had shopping..."all of this and Jesus, too" is right!!
It's only because of the joy we have in Jesus that shopping can truly be fun...the stuff is not what brings us true joy!
I read the Tozer quote and it is AMAZING...after I read it I said " oh, how I want that to be said of me" I want to be meek!! God IS everything!! And we are NOTHING without Him!!!
Thank you for the enthusiastic way that you point us toward the One who makes our lives worth living!!
Praising Him, Lisa
Hi Beth!
Thanks for sharing how you "spent" your birthday gift certificates and also how you celebrated! Yes, we would love to see some pictures! My friend and I have wondered where you shop, because you always look so adorable! You are a beautiful lady inside and out. We also enjoy shopping at Stein Mart!
We truly had an incredible time in Boone. How we praise God for you and Travis and your whole team! May he continue to bless you mightily and richly!
Love in Christ,
Penny
Burlington, North Carolina
What fun!! Vicarious shopping with Beth Moore. The only thing better would be to be the lucky one to spend the day shopping with you! Especially for us who can't figure out how to put together a wardrobe!!
For Melissa: (From a mom of a newly graduated son who is finding his way in a new job in new surroundings) For such a time as this...this is what God has had prepared for you...it is time for you to launch! Not in the shadow of your Mom or older sister, but for you, dear one. And He has given you Esther to make your feet wet. I can't wait to see and hear what God will reveal to you in your research and how He will bless all of us through you.
with love and prayers
Happy Belated Birthday! I'm glad you a had such a great time shopping. Aren't gift certificates the best? I'm also so glad to hear of Melissa working with you now. I can't wait to see what treasures God sends to us through the work you will do together.
Thank you for all you do!
Big hugs,
Marni
A shopping spree without spending your own money is the best kind of all. Sounds like a great day. Honestly though, I don't see how you find the time to do it with your busy schedule. I'm not even a tenth as busy as you and I can barely find the time to shop.
I'm grateful you allow God to use you the way he does. You've been a blessing to so many....myself included. Put on that new straw hat, go sit on the swing in your backyard, and relax a while.
Miss Beth, You just make an appeal to Keith about the pictures and I am sure he will help you. Especially if you bat your eyelashes!!! Why??? Because we want to see what you bought!!!
This is my first time commenting. I love your energy Beth! It gets rubbed off on me everytime I read. Thanks for taking the time to keep this blog. It's a blessing.
Hi Beth! I've had trouble posting my comment too, but I'll try again. I attended WOF in Ft. Lauderdale (that you have yet to mention! -ha!) Ouch! Your lesson on "Words" was perfectly timed for me. In fact, a few times you even said my name "Debbie" -though you were speaking to one of your staff. It still got my attention. I was there with my firstborn (3rd year college) and it was a special time for us together.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the Lord. Always fight those critical words you hear and replace them with God's. What would we do without you!?
Your shopping spree sounds FAB - good for you!!
I am part of a SHOPPING CLUB. 10 of us get together once a month and bring $20 - we load our money onto the table while we eat goodies and laugh and chat - then at the end of the night we pull a name and whoever gets the name gets the money!! You can only spend the money on yourself - and the next month shopping club is at the winners house and they provide the snacks and show off their purchases - it's a blast - But once your name has been pulled you can't win again. It's kind of an easy way to save money and have a once a year shopping spree to treat yourself or renew your wardrobe - I love it. Otherwise I would never go & spend $200 on myself just because - but this way you kind of save for it month by month!!
Anyway that's my shopping story - so glad you had a great time and yes please we need to PHOTOS!!!
I'm glad you had a good birthday! Shopping is the best medicine sometimes! My favorite pastime is shopping (if I have money and no kids with me :)) I get the luxury of going out with some coworkers tonight for a pedicure and shopping. The hubby is watching my four little kids. You might want to say a prayer for him!
Beth, I'm so glad to see how close you are to your daughters and how close they are to each other. That is so sweet! I pray that my kids will be that way when they are grown!
I took my 7 yr old to GA camp friday and it was a blast. Take your daughters friends! It was a special time.
Mary, upstate SC
WOW!!! What an amazing birthday! The whole day and the "after glow." I just love it when we get to be showered with love from those who are dear to us and God fills our cup to overflowing. He, like any parent, just loves to spoil His kids, doesn't He?
I had not yet gotten the opportunity to send to you my own Happy Birthday wish and prayer to you, Beth. Thank you for helping to lead me to His throne again and again. My journey would never be as rich without the guidance you have helped to give me. It has blessed me to hear how our Father has so richly blessed you. May He continue to do so...
I also wanted to thank you for highlighting the AW Tozer comment - I was blown away by it! What rich and deep insight! I must admit that I have yet to dive into Tozer's work, but you can be assured that I will be grabbing his books off my husband's shelves soon.
I suppose that's all for now. Thank you Amanda & Beth for all the work you put into this blog. I am encouraged and loved through it. And I always look forward to what ya'll have to say.
God's Blessings,
Melissa
I know you are so happy to have your 2 girls serving the Lord in ministry!
What a shopping day you had! How fun! Thanks for sharing with us about the personal things in your life...even if it is about clothes, shoes, and coffee!!!
We love you!
Wow! I need to get that Tozer book. That's good stuff, Meinard!
Hey, we are starting the "Believing God" study tonight. I'm so excited I could spit! Well, I spit like a girl so maybe I'll just refrain.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your shopping trip with us.
Beth,
Thank you for the glimpse into your wonderful birthday celebration, and the too-fun shopping spree! I feel like I've just spent a delightful morning with a best girlfriend, and then topped it off at Starbucks! Funny how I can be so many miles away from Houston, and yet feel like I was part of the fun. I needed that connection with you and my other siestas today ~ thank you!
Hugs,
Linda
P.S. Welcome Melissa!
So glad you had a great time shopping. What a joy it is to have Melissa serving with you. It is such a blessing for moms to have kids who love the Lord and serve him with all they have.
Beth,
I am an occasional poster but mostly I am a happy lurker. Sometimes I find it hard to know what to say when y'all are so incredibly witty and even more profound. Ok, not everything that is written is profound (DELICIOUS! brown patent leather shoes, e.g.) but everything seems to fall into those two categories.
I can easily go to the end of feeling inferior and feeling like I'm coming up short. But I have to tell you that the Lord encouraged me when I read your latest entry...to be more of a risk-taker, to be less afraid. Because He really has gifted me in lots of ways. I stop before I start, you know??
Anyway, just wanted to share that and say thank you for being so genuine. AND Happy Birthday too. Our 17th anniv. was the same day.
Enjoy Him today,
Elaine in TX
Beth,
YOU have put a smile on my face... and today was a great day for it as we had to put our sweet dog, Grace, to sleep last night. Now the earth in our backyard holds a treasure box, but she was first buried deeply into our hearts thirteen years ago. She was with me while I was living in the pit years ago and got to enjoy all God has done in my life since climbing out of it!
Dogs... they are little hugs from God... and I miss her terribly... I knew you and the family would understand... since I've heard so much about your furry babies over the years.
Love ya, Beth...
Mama Beth, I feel like we just gabbed for hours on the phone and giggled til it hurt. :)
The best ever is when you buy something new and then wear it for the first time...you feel like the cutest thing (no matter what anybody else thinks)...and it sounds like you've got some mighty cute days ahead of you. :)
You Moore girls make me so excited about studying God's word. Thanks for that. :)
I always love your style! You are always so great at dressing modestly and so very chic! Very inspiring!
Glad to know you, Beth, still believe in "cute" - I believe you mentioned that in the Daniel study. :) God made us girls and all the stuff that goes with it - good and bad (ie: "special"Walgreen trips)! So shop on, siestas! Shop on!
Su, where did you find that bike???? I want one, too! The closest I found was a Schwinn at Target...and a $600 one at a bike store, but that is WAY out of the question (even though I loved it).
Rock on, Elaine in Texas! You are valuable and most likely have some wonderful nuggets of truth and/or with to share! You never know until you try. Don't be afraid to fail, or else you'll never have the opportunity to succeed! :)
Beth,
It was so much fun hearing about the shopping trip. Your blog entries (as well as Amanda's) brighten my day. I have respected and admired you for so many years now from the studies and books but never as much as now. Getting to see your day by day life lets me know that you do walk the walk and talk the talk. We all love you!
This is to Stacy from Arkansas. Stacy, I too have a special needs child. She is 28 and has Autism. My husband and I are in ministry in our church for teens and adults with developmental disabilites. The name of our ministry is Masterpiece Ministry. It was so named because of Ephesians 2:10 that says " we are ALL God's workmanship (or Masterpiece in some translations.
We have several individuals in our SS class with CP. They are such a blessing to us. We can't wait until Sunday to get to be with them and all the others. May God bless you and your 16 year old. I know she has to be a blessing to everyone she meets.
Here is my confession for the minute: I COVET your commentary collection!
I am slowly working on building up one set (New International Commentary), but they aren't cheap!
So glad you had a fab shopping spree...sounds like some great finds.
Check out the Kodak EZ share camera if you decide to get a one, they are easy to use and they take great pictures. Plus it was recommended to me by a professional photographer. :)
Love ya, girl!
Just got back from Europe and I am almost ashamed to say but I bought 5, yes 5 pairs of shoes. Oh, glory be I am the worst!!! But, I did only buy one purse and I am Queen Baglady in my family. I love you, Beth, and wish you a glorious year all year not just your birthday.
Beth,
I haven't really figured this blog thing out yet. I have posted blogs that I thought went through but I do not see them. I don't think I said anything offensive.:( Just wondering what's going on with my blogs?
Ginger F.
Just want to tell Hannah that she is being prayed for. If you would like to email me directly, I have a new email account for blog siestas!
It is densgirl96@bellsouth.net.
Blessings!
Dawn
Beth,
First time responding to the blog, have been reading for several months and I love it. Thanks for sharing your life with us. I'm so excited about the new study on Esther and thought that Melissa should write one geared to teenage girls and their issues. Just a thought. Just heard you in Ft. Lauderdale a few weeks ago and loved your red shoes.

What great fun! Steinmart is my favorite and when I get there (we don't have one in our town) I go crazy! I did just that last month and we wont' talk about how much Ispent, guess it's a good thing there is not one here! And Macadamia nuts, ummmm! I can't put the jar down either.
Thanks for sharing with us, it's fun to see you are so real.
Beth,
Tickled pink with you!!!!
To Su- you will love that bike! Hubby and I are in our 30's and bought a pair this past year. They are retro cool in looks and ride like a la-z-boy. I love, love love my little red cruiser.
Beth, thanks for sharing a description of your plunder! It made me smile to read about, and of course it satisfies our curiosity. Every time I see you I wonder where you find all those cute clothes. I'm glad you had fun!
I absolutely can't wait to see how God uses Melissa in this ministry, and hope that she will share her thoughts with us from time to time on the blog. It's been a joy getting to know you through the blog, Amanda; you're doing a great job gardening this blog.
girly girl - some great worship songs can be found by:
Lincoln Brewster
Chris Tomlin
David Crowder
Desperation Band
Paul Baloche
I teach an aerobics class to contemporary Christian music, and we use songs from all of these artists - you can't go wrong.
Thank you for sharing this with us. It sounds like you had a blast.
Okay, my dear Miss Beth, with all of your "word pictures", I think that we need to see some real pictures of some of these
"darling" items on the blog, preferably with you wearing the clothing items ... What do think? Are you game? =)

Wow Holly's comment on the how life can change the lyrics to the song Jesus loves me is so profound and the new lyrics so confirming. Thank you so much for sharing that, Holly I needed that.
I love that you shared your shopping spree!!! We're all such girls ;-) I personally love ROSS. I could get lost in there for hours!
Thank you for sharing about your birthday as well. I didn't get to wish you a happy birthday then, so accept this one really late. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I will be praying for Melissa as she begins at LMP. God Bless you Beth and Amanda!!!
Beth-
Aren't birhtday shopping sprees the BEST! :) I mean a shopping spree in itself is a blast, but a b'day spree filled with giftcards is just MORE FUN than a gal can stand!!
I know you are loving having Melissa around! I can realate to her wanting Amanda around! My sister moved 16 hours away, and I miss her terribly too!
I eat all these girly details up, so keep them coming! :) Patent leather, opened toed, chocolate brown....oh, how I love those words!!!
Much love,
Sarah, TN
Beth...Thank you for alerting me to Kristi's comments about Tozer...I have got to get that book...Glad you had such a great time shopping...and a wonderful birthday
In Him...
What a fun day! I totally am with you about how long your birthday lasts! My husband(who turned 50 this year), just doesn't get why my family continues to celebrate for weeks, what he would rather forget! I just tell him I don't care what the number is(I'm younger than him), just send me cards, etc. and I'm running to the mailbox for the days/weeks surrounding my birthday!
Gen 2:31 (niv)"God saw all that he made, and it was very good." I always come back to that when i read your blog....whether God is watching you have the time of your life with the chocolate brown shoes He has set out for you to find, watching Melissa write pages of notes or Amanda trying to master the web while loving her son and husband to pieces!!!! He's watching all these siestas gather in his name at a keyboard....He looks down and sees so many hearts for him and just has to feel the way that you, Beth describe your feelings when looking at Amanda for the first time...Oh How He uses this blog....it reminds me of your current weekly devotion...enough said!! Praise Him! and Blessed are those who do so!
Don't you hope that in heaven the streets of gold are lined with a few really good shops?!? :D
re: Melissa's Calling I think it was God who called her to be an Interior Design major....He just has a slightly different definition....doesn't he always!!!!! (it all began with her tearing down that picture from her bedroom wall)
Amanda-
I don't know if you were addressing me with your blog housekeeping. I erased my comment about what was going on in our lives. I couldn't decide if I should post it or not, but decided to since what bad can come of prayers from other believers? Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what was going on. Thanks for all you do.

Beth,
Since you mentioned shoes--loved your red shoes in Ft. Lauderdale!
It was so good to be there-love what the Lord does through you.
Amy
Beth,
Happy belated birthday!!!
Thank you *so much* for sharing all the fun details of your special day - your gifts, your b-day activities, your pics. The way you write makes me feel like I'm right there with y'all, having a blast; I just can't help but smile!
I read your blog regularly, though I don't usually post. But I wanted to let you know what a blessing it is for me. I thank you and Amanda and all the others who help out for taking the time to run the blog. (I did finally figure out that I'm already registered on google, so I don't have to be "anonymous" anymore!)
Also, awhile back, you were talking about Melissa and Amanda both working at LPM, and that this is their heritage. Well, I've been chewing on that for this whole time, thinking about my 2 kiddos (ages 10 & 7), wondering what the Lord has for them - their heritage. I know He has something unique and special for each person. Your statement inspired me to pray about this more for my kids; what will it turn out to be? One thing I do know, the unfolding of His plan will be excellent, and it's really exciting to hear how it's happened for my siesta!
Well, I'm looking forward to seeing you again in the fall for the study of Esther. I plan to bring my soon-to-be-8 y/o daughter for the first time, too!
Blessings,
Karen K.
p/s: I work at that mall y'all were at, but I wasn't working that day. It would've been fun to run into y'all, even for just a minute!
Oh. My. Goodness. My best friend just said recently, "I told my husband that if he went into Banana Republic and got me anything in my size, I'd love it." She said that while we were celebrating HER birthday just this month. Do you know what her husband did for her??!! He sent the two of us to a beautiful BnB in the countryside of Nebraska for a night. We live 6 hours apart and having a slumber party was too awesome! Major bonus points for him, huh?! Glad your b-day was and still is awesome. Love Sarah in MO
Whew! I finally found the Tozer comment. haha I thought I was blind for a while. :) I am so thankful for Amanda, Melissa and Beth! Your ministry is so authentic and I know it is because you remain authentic. Thank you Seistas for being so normal and thank you to ALL the staff that makes LPM flow as God intended. Many blessings to you all!
Beth -
Well, I think I could eat those shoes they sound so yummy!
We definitely do need to see pictures. I NEVER find anything when I am shopping with someone else's money. It takes me forever to decide how to spend a gift card, because you don't want to spend it on something you need...but that's hard to do.
I'm thinking that the siesta get together needs to be a shopping trip. I will echo the comments that you always look too cute. I need lessons. I always need help with looking finished. Someone needs to dress me. I need a dresser - ha ha.
I think I say this every time I post, but again...thanks for sharing your life with us and for being so real. We love you too!!
Keep the presents coming!!
Love

What a great birthday!! I bet after a week of birthday, having your grandson visit, and Melissa beginning to work with--you had no idea which one to thank God for first!!!
Amanda, after reading about the haircut, I had to go look up Cody's pictures...*sigh* LOVE that age....(actually I haven't found an age I don't enjoy yet..of course we are just beginning the teen years! :~)
Beth, Steinmart is my Mom's favorite place, she loves their reading glasses because they are so wild looking...we joke with her all the time...she has Steinmart glasses that match every outfit...gotta love her-- :~)
Oh, its good to be girl!
Beth,
Thanks for sharing all the details from your shopping spree! What fun! I'm glad you had such a wonderful birthday. If anyone deserves it, you do! Thank you for your encouraging words....your blog is such a joy to read! After walking alongside you through several of your Bible studies, I find it so refreshing to be able to "touch base" with you through the LPM blog. Thank you for your ministry. What a privilege to be your sister in Christ!
Dear Beth,
You remind me so much of me! I also spent all of my birthday money on clothes. Sometimes a girl just has to shop!
Right now I am on my way to finishing the Believing God study. I started it a couple years ago at church, then again in my home hosting a bible study, and now I am working on it by myself. I have never prayed so hard or had to believe God for so much. But Beth, he is working MIRACLES in my life! Your study has helped me so much that I can't begin to tell you the far reaching effects. I am believing God and listening to Him. Sometimes I find it scary, but I'm going to call that anxious anticipation! I know that this is going to sound like I am straight from the funny farm, but God is leading me to write a book about my trials and how he has helped me. (I know that it is Him telling me because I am half scared to death!) Your stories help me and give me such hope. I just know that we are going to meet someday. Take care and know that I pray for you and your family.
Your sister in Christ,
