Finally, A Moderation I Can Do!
I'm so excited! I moderated! Amanda will be so proud! Believe me when I tell you that moderation has never been my strong suit. Keith and I always say there's a reason why our last name is Moore. Maybe I've finally found a moderation I can actually do! I think I accidentally lost a few posts in my learning process but most of them made it! If yours didn't, please forgive your well-meaning, much lacking Siesta.
Newest update: Today the executive director of Camp Bigs took every single camper she had (registration: one) on a field trip to a mall that has a preschool play-yard. We had the most fun! Most of the kids were older than Camper so he tried to act extra big in order to fit in. He ran as fast as his little legs would carry him and climbed as high as Camp Director would let him and talked in his own toddler-speak as loud as he could as if everyone could understand him. (I could use the granny gift of interpretation this week.) He was so darling, I could have eaten him for lunch but he and I both were too full of Sonic. He was so worn out when the Camp Bigs bus pulled out of the parking lot that I couldn't keep him awake. Since Camper never takes a nap if he's had the least wink in the car, his afternoon nap consisted of twelve minutes. It's liable to be a long evening. Grin. Then again, that's what grandparents are for.
It's just about time for camp swim time so I better get going. (That means the temperature in Houston has dropped below 120 degrees in the shade.) Now I wish I'd had time to get a new spray-on tan yesterday. Last week's is fading a bit but have no fear. Tomorrow's a new day and a new tan. By this time, I bet Camper's mommy is getting a real live one on the beach! Thanks for doing life with us, Siestas! I so enjoyed your comments. I love loving Jesus with you! More from Camp Bigs tomorrow!

101 Comments:
After being a camp counselor at a real summer camp for 6 years; I can only hope to one day get a job at Camp Bigs...It sounds soooooo much more fun than the one I am used too. Are you taking applications? Just kidding.....I love being a Siesta!!
Beth Moore, I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH,I look up to you like a mother figure. You make me laugh so much and when I am down, I know I can look your blog up and know I can get some laughs :-) Thank you
You Rock for your age, even knowing I am very young ( young as 20, you still ROCK in my eyes. Not saying your OLD :-) but just know that us 20 year olds think you ROCK:) I sometimes wonder where you come up with some of the things you say on here ITS AWESOME.
I hope one day soon you will come to Canada, because I know that me and my friends would be there with bells on, as we know that you are a hip mama :-) SOOOOO hurry up and come ok. Have a beautiful day or should I say night. and I also hope you get you spray on tan tomorrow lol (that means laugh out loud) not sure if you knew that:)
love Canada girl
Shayna
my own lil' camper (my "adopted" grandson, about Jackson's age) stopped in yesterday for ice cream with his momma. He is so cute I can hardly stand it, and he's always ready to run full blast and give his "grampa" a big hug! Grampa's a pastor, and you should see the folks melt when our lil' guy runs up to "grampa" at church! Kids are just totally meant to melt your heart!
P.S. do you have the granddog, too? I have an 85-lb 10-month-old black lab named Vader that comes over every weekday while mom and dad are at work. I LOVE being a grandma!!!
Where do I sign up my 4 little campers? Sounds like you are having a blast.
BTW, I wanted to tell you about a man's t-shirt I saw at the store yesterday. It said "Next time Satan reminds you about your past, remind him about his future." I just loved that.
Have a blessed week.
At my little man's Camp Granny, he gets all the ice cream he can possibly eat and an open-ended bedtime. The open-ended bedtime works really well since my daddy gives him all the Coke he can drink. For breakfast, even.
It's his favorite place in the world. :-)
I need to know more about this spray on tan. Does it really work? I have heard some horror stories over the years.
You are so computer savvy! I'm leaving town & have to wish you a Happy Birthday before I go...
There are 4 words that remind me of you on your birthday….
B – BRINGER
E – ENCOURAGER
T – TRUST
H – HOMESICK
B in Beth is for BRINGER of life--- you bring God to all of us…Exodus 4:16 says it is “as if you are God to us” like Moses was to Aaron…and we all know it is the God in you making us alive.
E in bEth is for ENCOURAGER---don’t we all have those “moments” when God moved in through something you said like John 5:37-40 in The Beloved Disciple
T in beTh is for TRUST because you trust your God and your ineffable ways delight & intrigue us as you seek Him John 1:38,39 and our God uses you to invite us to “come & see and spend a day with Him,” an Eternity with Him.
H in betH is for HOMESICK ---- you make me homesick to find my place on earth resting safe in His Arms; you make me homesick for my real home in heaven for that’s where our citizenship is, Phil. 3:20.
Happy Birthday to a BRINGER of God’s life who ENCOURAGES us so much as the Great Day draws near to TRUST no other Love, no other One but Jesus---- and a thousand thanks for making us HOMESICK for what really matters. You are one year closer to home!
I want to join in...it sounds so fun!! (and I know the mall in Houston that has the play area, it is a FAVORITE of my daughters...while shopping is not!!) Have the best time swimming...it wears them out quicker than anything :-)
Enjoy the next few days and congrats on learning to moderate...we "siestas" will keep you on your toes, b/c we LOVE to comment.
love-jackie
I love reading this blog - you make me feel so connected to you and your family. Though, all I know of Beth Moore is through this blog (and doing the study "A Heart Like His" many years ago), I feel like we're close friends. I'm suddenly realizing that when I move to Houston next month, if I happen to run into "one of the family", I will probably get a polite hello, but not the enthusiastic "how've ya'll been?" that I'll be feeling. It's weird, huh?
Thanks again for letting me have a window into your world.
You're doing a great job Beth. Isn't being a grandma the best thing in the world. I love having all the fun without that burden of responsiblity we seem to put on ourselve when we're the mommy.
Just have lots of fun!!
Is Keith playing TAPS tomorrow morning at Camp Bigs?
Fun! Fun! Fun!
love,
Cathy
Hey guys:-)
I have to tell you something from today.
How many people saw the Paris Hilton thing on Yahoo?
It was a CNN story about how the bad girls of hollywood should learn something from the good.
It's so interesting, because the world looks up to those who never had someone decent in their life to look after.
A friend of mine told me the " WHY" that people do things.
He said its either by: attitude, agenda, apathy, and God's way.
Obviously, they don't fit into the " God's way" part.
It was their attitude that got them in trouble, the agenda being that they planned on being extreme, and the apathy came because they thought they were untouchable!
God always has His say in the end:)
I feel bad for Paris, Brit, and Linsey, because they probably deep down are good people, but the fame and fortune clouded their heads.
Paris dropped out of highschool her junior year, and where is she now? What legacy will she leave on this earth when she goes? OR Linsey, and Brit?
I was asked in a scholarship question why I deserved it?
I answered that I didn't believe it was a matter of deserving, because anyone can be handed money, but the truth of who was worth giving it to, comes in the end. Anyone can say they will do something, become something, but how many actually do?
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go on like that, it was just all laying on my heart. This next generation under Amanda and I's....it is gonna be tough.
Angie
Hello to all at camp Bigs
You sound like a group of "happy campers." (ha, ha) You are all so precious. How about some pictures from camp? By the way congrats on your moderation. I guess that makes you a moderate? (ha,ha)
Love ya siesta
Kristi B.
You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Beth, Your last two posts about your grandson have made me smile because your joy in him reminds me so much of the grandmother of the 14 month old twins that I keep. She loves those children to pieces. And she has so much fun with them. We took them swimming in the baby pool today as well. And if we're not careful, they will also swim in the doggies water bowl. We also sang songs today. Granny played the piano and Nana(that's me because I'm their nanny)sang. They sat in their little pack and play and ate their goldfish and sang along. It was a great day. So, just know that you are in good company.
Oh Beth...I love hearing about your daily camp excursions. How blessed Jackson is to have you! What wonderful memories you are creating!
Oh man...I am craving Sonic right now! They don't have them in my neck of the woods. I could really use a big ol' cherry vanilla limeade right now! Or a cool breeze! Or some cheddar peppers! YUM!
Happy, Happy Anniversary to Amanda and Curt! My goodness...Amanda looks stunning in that wedding dress!
Love,
Kristen
PS Thanks so much, Beth, for all that you do. You are the one who taught me how to really love love love Jesus! I had no idea that such a relationship with Jesus was even possible until I started your Bible studies. You are such a blessing!
What a special time. I know that my kids love and adore their Gran-time. The memories from the QUALITY time they spend with her are irreplaceable - she too lives far away. :( We always say that the way she spends the time she has with them is what makes their relationship so very special. May God continue to bless Camp Granny!
PS HOORAY that the Wising Up CD's are ready. I can't wait to listen to the study again.
Much love!
Oh, Beth, I just LOVE picturing you as an adoring grandma/camp director! I'll bet you're the best, and it just makes me long for that myself (my oldest is only 7, so I've got a long wait! ha!)
Thanks for creating this community of Siestas where the love of Jesus abounds. I love visiting you daily.
I just LOVED reading this. He is a lucky little camper. Could you be any more fun? A fun Bible teacher. A fun mom. A fun grandmom. You rock, Siesta.
Beth,
How much joy I derive from hearing your stories about your family, and the newest addition, Jackson. I think it is because you are such a huge part of my life. God has seen fit to work through you and your ministry more times than I can count to make me more like Him. I caught that passion/fire from you when I did my first study (Paul study) years ago, and that flame has not been extinguished. It grows stronger every day :)
I write today (a little early) mostly to say, Happy Birthday Beth!!! May this year be one of such an strong, overflowing outpour of His Presence on your life that His Glory is made known through you, your family, and your ministry.
I love you Siesta!!! Kim
I am so, so thrilled, to have found your blog, just today, the day that my group finished up our study of Jesus, the One and Only. I feel like you're an old friend, and now I've found you here. Thank you.
I wanted to share with you a funny story from our time studying together. I led the group, and it began after I dropped my daughter off at our church's preschool. One day I happened to have 2 of her dollies with me that she couldn't keep with her in class. As luck would have it, we were studying Mary and Martha, and one doll soon raced around the table making sure everyone had snacks and sniping at the other doll, while they other sat before her bible and said "i just want to study!" There was much laughter, and one of my gals said "That was such a Beth Moore moment."
We'll be expecting to see your "Camp Bigs" t-shirt at some point in the future--with a grandma-sized picture of Jackson on the front! :)
The "120 degrees" comment reminded me of a church marquee we saw once down in Waxahachie, that perfectly described the sweltering Texas heat.
It simply said, "Hell's hotter."
oh dear Beth,
What an awesome camp...I wish I was going to that camp...hehehe I was highly jealous you got to go to Sonic...I love Sonic and was a craving it today...but didn't get there...I so enjoyed reading your post today and praying Amanda is having as much fun as you and Grandpa.
love and hugs,
Tammy
Sweet Beth,
Can't believe I am the first to post or else you crashed and haven't moderated!
I laughed 'til I almost cried at the schedule at Camp Bigs. (I thought Camp Granny was cute, so do tell, where did "Camp Bigs" come from???) Hope the Executive Director gets early lights out with the camper! As Scarlett would say, "I am pea green with envy!" I cannot wait to have a grandchild and hope God gives me the opportunity. I am loving living as a grandmother through you and Jackson. Thank you for sharing your precious family with us and letting us see your daily lives.
Hope your birthday on Saturday is the finest, the best of the best, the grandest, and more! (Wish I were your age again!) Hope you have a decadently divine chocolate cake and when Jackson goes home, hope you get to shop for adorable shoes. New shoes are guaranteed to eliminate tiredness from directing camp! Happy, happy birthday, Sweet Siesta Beth! Big hugs and lots of love to you!
my dearest beth, i am a new siesta to your blog but not to your ministry. you are one of my dearest friends! i have done many of your studies and have most on audio cd's.you have taught me how to study the WORD and have taught me what to look for when i study!thank you so much for doing what God chose you to do!!!!

song of songs 7:1
What a fun camp!!! :) I want to be a camper!!
Enjoy, Beth! What an awesome time for you and your husband ... enjoying him 24/7
Oh, I just knew Camp Bigs would include the mall. It sounds like you two had a blast!! Ah, the pool, brings back memories of my first born and his swimming pool at his Memaw's house. He was so chubby and yet he had a little baby speedo on!! He was the cutest thing ever! By the way, I am so proud of you for your 1st moderating!! Excellent job!! Looking forward to the next update!!
Love You,
Patty
Hey Beth! I am sure you can appreciate this. As I am reading the posts and now trying to post I am constantly throwing this squeak toy for my 1 yr old puppy Wrigley. I think I have thrown this thing at least 50 times and even when I try to ignore him I can't because of the thud of the squeak toy hitting the floor by my feet. I look over and just can't resist those eyes and that puppy smile! He doesn't seem to tire.
I know you are having a blast with your little guy! You are right, there is nothing cuter than a toddler in jammies! I have one toddler left out of three children and I do so love those thighs on her! I love hers so much and I wonder why I don't feel the same about mine! :)
Thanks for all you do-you have truly mentored me for years and I can't wait to share coffee in glory someday with you and chat! Take care and God bless!
Thank you so much Beth and Amanda for having this spot as my "shelter from the storms" of this crazy world. Toddlers are so fun...my nephew is only 8 months old and he gives pretty GREAT kisses also. I have to show his picture to everyone...my 3 kiddos are all teenagers..you have got to love a baby.
Much love,
Stacy
I can just see Jackson acting so big so as to BE as big as the other kids on the playground - love it! Kids crack me up!
I will pray for the "granny gift of interpretation" for you Granny Bigs so as to make things a bit easier :) Before you know it you will know exactly what each grunt and point means - hehe
Looking forward to tomorrow's "agenda"
God bless,
Kim
I love your comment about moderation. Maybe I am a long lost Moore siesta.:)
I am glad your camp is going so well.
Beth ~
You are so dang stinkin' cute! I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF YOU! I LOVE loving Jesus with you, too!
I just watched session six of Daniel on Saturday and your story about the dogs barking and you hiding in the closed to do your interview was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo FUNNY! I laughed so very hard.
love you siesta ~
Kristi
oh praise the lord i think Jesus just broke down a wall with spray tans :) hahahaha! i was wondering how you kept your healthy glow :)...besides the fact that Jesus radiates all over your face. ;)
do you ever mess it up on your elbows or knees though? the first time i got one they forgot to tell me how to avoid looking like i just rolled in the clay on the softball field...not so pretty :)
Thank you for loving us enough to attempt moderating while Amanda is away. You did a great job!
I look forward to more news from Camp Bigs! Hug your star Camper for me.
I am laughing so hard and I have only read the first sentence! Now back to read more...but you.crack.me.up! I get the joke!
Love ya,
Holly
Amanda would be so proud of your moderating skills :)
(And on that note, I'm glad our Jesus doesn't call us to a life of moderation with Him.)
Enjoy yourself this week! Carry on Camp Bigs! Spray-on tan and all :)
Beth,
I love these posts. It just brings joy to my life and cracks me up. You are a hoot. Keep those camp reports coming....
Jean
Great job on the moderation! :) :) :) Amanda will be proud.
Remember it takes seven days to make something a new habit. One of my favorite things at my summer "camp" was watching my Grandmother study for her S. S. lesson
What fun it is to share our lives as sisters in the Lord. It is an incredible blessing to be included in the "real world" of frustrations with a mate to the pure joy of caring for a grandbaby. Thank-you for sharing your thoughts, your family, your ups and downs; it draws us all close. I must say it again, how I thank God over and over for the journey through His Word, closer to His heart you have led me and "my Siestas" on. May our sweet Jesus hold you close and bless the celebration of your birth...Happy Birthday with love! Kathie
This is what memories are made of... your sure leaving a huge legacy in your little campers life. your are such an example to us all. love always from south africa me
Beth, when I read your blog this morning, it was one of those sad, quiet mornings where my mind is in a battle with the past. While I am wondering if my mind will ever stop "remembering", I read that sweet blog and prayed, "Lord, will I ever be free like that?" Thank you for your funny spirit . Whenever I need a smile I just go and read your daily blog, and it never fails me!
Your Siesta in Christ!
Thank you Beth...I needed a smile, and I got one from your so descriptive blog of Camp Granny. What an awesome ride being a granny must be (I am still waiting).
kat
Reading this to my girls (8 & 6)is creating quite a bit of anticipation for their trip to "Gram's Camp" in two weeks. Gram's will have 5 campers all week. She will be ready for her massage by the time Friday check out time arrives. :)
How you are finding time to blog, I don't know, but it sounds like you all are having a blast. Thanks for sharing your camp adventures with us. :)
Beth,
So glad you are enjoying camp!! I am a SAHM of 3 and I live for the summer when my girls are home with me again. I also have a toddler with DS that makes life fun everyday. We just finished VBS and my 6 year old came to know Jesus. The blessing is more than I can stand. Praise God for the gift of salvation that even a 6 year old can understand!!
Have fun today at camp!! I can imagine your Praise Jesus banners flying high.
Love,
Kelly
ps. do you have an update on Kendall that you mentioned in Boone? I am praying for her.
Ok Beth........we are still waiting for the Camp Bigs interpretation!!! I really do run my own camp and it is called Power PACK Camp. Power Abiding Christ Kids. We run it just like a small group Bible Study. Believe me when I say that even though you can not uderstand Jacks right now, he will tell you all about Camp Bigs for the rest of his life. :)
Happy Birthday........may the Lord richly bless you this coming year.
Melissa, welcome to the mix and I can't wait to hear from you soon.
Amanda and Curt, I can't believe that it has been 5 years and I KNOW you can't. Have the time of your life.
Oh Keith.........you keep them all in line.......bro!
All of us out hear in "LPM blog-land" love you guys!!!!
I am looking forward to directing "Cousin Camp" next year over Spring Break when I get the 2 older grand-girlies together! Maybe by then you will have published a training manual as well as a DVD series for the rest of us!
Connie Hopkins
Congrats on moderating! I'm sure Melissa is a wonderful help on that! Camp Bigs sounds like a blast- for the camper and the director!
You can keep my parents in your prayers as they start their own Camp Grams/Pop next month when they take all 3 of mine (will be 5, 3, and 1!) for a few days so my hubby and I can celebrate our 7th anniversary. Having grandparents we can depend on is such a wonderful blessing and I thank God for them daily, as I'm sure Amanda does for you!
Enjoy your sweet baby boy this week!
Beth, you are so funny! It is just a joy to listen to you. I've completed three of your bible studies, read several of your books, and watch you every week on Life Today. Thank you for sharing the joy you have in Jesus and for faithfully teaching us the Word. Thank you also for sharing your life with us on this blog. It has been such an encouragement to me to hear you speak so much on where you have come from and God's faithfulness in your life. Because of your sharing (the good and the rough times) I have hope for my life and my family through Jesus.
As I read your post this morning, a scripture one of my pastors taught on several months ago came to mind. It's from 1 Thessalonians 2:8 "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us."
Again, thank you and much love to you and your family!
Beth,
I just have to ask, how do you stay so thin? Starbucks, Sonic (which I miss-don't have any here on Long Island) etc...
I have said it before but again, thank you for being and showing us all that it is okay to be real and God loves us no matter what!
In His love,
Stephanie
Long Island, NY
Nothing like a sweet babe and his granny! And with Sonic thrown in, I would have to say it sounds like a perfect day :)
Oh, Beth! I also strive (and struggle) to have moderation in my life where I need it. What a constant focus!
I am thrilled you are having this special time with your grandson. What a gift from your daughter!
Last night I took part of session 2 of the study on Daniel. Thank you so much for all of your prayer, research, and hard work so that I, too, may be able to learn from His word. You are able to help me make sense of so much of it and apply it to my life. Please pray for my understanding to deepen and for my desire to burn and drive me to keep stretching my mind!
Thank you and bless you! Oh yes, I was part of that fantastic group in Omaha! I'llnever forget that weekend.
-Jodi
I want to go to Camp!! Sounds like so much fun!!!!
It sounds like your Camper is having a wonderful time with the world's greatest camp counselors! What a blessing that you can spend this time with your little guy. Happy Birthday late too! :)
Oh Beth...your comments leave me longing for the day (hopefully soon) when I become a Grammy! My oldest of six children is getting married this October so I am getting closer to the day God blesses us with a beautiful grandbaby. Thank you for the wonderful view into this very special time! Have a blast with that baby boy this week!
A looking forward to the day California Siesta
I used to go to Camp Moose every summer - My Gramma's last name is "Moose" - sometimes for a whole month at a time! The Camp Director and I went out to California Pizza Kitchen a lot. That is, until Starbucks started up within walking distance from Camp...
Beth,
I think it is wonderful that you are able to create such wonderful memories for you and Jackson. My children (age 6 and 8) just returned from a week at Camp Granny's which was spent at the beach. It was so heart warming to hear all the stories when they returned. Enjoy your time and rest and relaxation ( grandparents never look at their grandchildren as a job, but a pure pleasure. No matter how tiring it may be.
P.S. The conference in Boone was amazing. Thanks for changing my season to one that will be full of sunshine and vibrant beautiful blossoms as I am Asher Bound. Rain and thunderstorms will be looked upon differently. With God's help I will only allow them to feed the blossoms and not allow satan to kill the blossoms. I am very excited to travel this new road that I have been longing to find. Continue to enjoy your week.
Asher Bound in NC
We are soooo proud of you!!!!
JACKSON & GRANNY's JOURNEY CONTINUES~

You,Keith and family bless us so much. continue to " Carry the Light" for OUR PRECIOUS SAVIOR.

My Christian Chicks are coming over tonight to discuss and watch Week 3 of Breaking Free--In honor of our siestahood I am doing a taco/fajita bar . . . Thank goodnesss none of have food- related strongholds--that we are aware of yet, anyway! :) Lots of Love from a grateful friend--Leigh
Grandchildren--God's way of allowing flawed parents a do-over!
(To the tune of "Do-lordy")
"Do-over, Oh, Do-over, I'm thankin' God for Thee.
Do-over, Oh Do-over, I'm thankin' God for Thee.
Do-over, Oh, Do-over, I'm thankin' God for Thee.
We'll let God's love be our bond."

My heart hurts. Our daughter has made many bad choices. She can't accept responsibility for them, so she blames us. It used to be her father, now it's me. It' hard to walk in the Light of God's forgiveness, when someone keeps reminding you of your past mistakes and throwing in some lies, too. We've asked her for forgiveness repeatedly - once should have been enough. She told me in February that she wants no more contact with me. The problem is she has our only grandchild (a 21-month-old girl). I know the Lord has different trials for each of His children. This is one I never would have expected. My heart hurts.
Beth you are just too cute. When my son and DIL become parents I am coming to visit you to learn all there is to learn about being a grandmother, unless you have built a study around this topic by then! LOL
I am proud of you siesta! LOL You are doing great!!
You know it makes me smile reading how much you adore your grandson. My daughter does not have that sort of relationship with my husbands Mom nor my Dad and his wife like even I had with both my Grandmothers when I was young and I hate that so bad. I had the most godly Grandmother you could ever know and it's because of her life that my husband was saved. Have a great week with that camper! I LOVE YOU LOTS!
Donna
LOVE IT!!!
I am loving these Camp BIGS reports-too precious! You have done an outstanding job at providing a wide variety of activities. Hide n Seek, Music, Field Trips (Mall Playground AND Sonic-yum!), Swimming, I am impressed!

Wow 120 degrees in the shade, I thought Louisiana was hot. glad to hear you had so much fun with your grandbaby. I have a Aunt that lives in Giddings Texas I love her farm with all the bulls, cows and she even has a litter of baby bobcats she befriended the Mother and now she has seven of them following her around. We'll ya'll have a blest day and May Jesus cover ya'll today .
Love ya,
Sue-La
Beth - I just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are. I am reading Breaking Free right now and I have to make myself put it down. I was introduced to your work thru my dad who grew up I believe he said next door to you in Arkadelphia. He was reading one of your books and gave it to me. I pray that one day my Christian walk can be as liberating as yours. Thank you so much! God bless you.
Oh goodness, I bet little camper had a blast at the play place! We have a small one here in our mall in Abilene and it's become a weekly trip. We are having Vacation Bible School this week and today was our hottest day yet (Texas heat is no fun!) so on our way out all the adults were talking about going home to go swimming. :) You can bet my boys and I will be jumping in that pool just as soon as our naps are over! Have fun at camp!
You did awesome Beth...kudos for your fabulous work!
120!!! Uggghhh I just remembered my frequent business trips to Houston, and thoughts of moving to TX just left my mind. It was 90 here in Denver one day this week so I stayed inside...I have a year round tan - no need to go outside.(You think the spray would work to reverse my tan?)
Hey! Beth!! God Bless you and your upcoming birthday. Have a great, blessed day!! Enjoy your g-baby to the fullest. I also have a new g-baby. She turned 6 months old yesterday. We're doing your devotional book "Loving Well" in church and already it is a joy and a blessing. Praying for you daily, please think of me and lift one up for me as well. Lots of unrest. In need of confidence, peace and direction in life these days. Being a pastor's wife, it is a joy but as you know there are many testings and temptations quite often. Standing in need of prayer, I love and appreciate you!!!!
i love this little window into your life. you keep me laughing and keep me challenged!
xo~ alicia
don't you just love spending time with the grandchildren?? i adore the time we have with ours. sounds like fun is being had by all.
"let your moderation be known unto all men...." (KJV) phil 4:5. hee hee.
you are doing great-can you post some pics soon :)
wonder who will get "camper of the week" ???
have fun in the sun!
Camp Bigs is hysterical! I needed a goo chuckle today.
I'm proud of you Granny Siesta! :-)
I love loving Jesus with you as well!
Give the Camper an extra hug from everyone of us vicarious Granny Siesta's.
HIS Daughter,
Teri
I know you are having so fun. We're doing "Loving Well" at our church and we just watched the session yesterday where you announced that Amanda was pregnant. Man were you excited. My husband is in the Army and we're stationed in Hawaii right now but the grandparents are in SC. So when I read how much fun you guys are having I'm happy for you but sad for my mom that misses your baby girl and grandson so much. Enjoy your time at Camp Bigs.
Camp Bigs sounds like sooo much fun! I actually can and cannot wait to be a grandma! I am not even sure what I want to be called yet... but with a 13, 15, 16 and 17 year old... I am praying it will be a good five to ten years or so before I have to decide! I bet Jackson is simply delightful.
Well, Amanda and Curt have a wonderful anniversary and know we are praying for safe travel, a wonderful time to reconnect and just be husband and wife and no major happenings at home... Congratulations on the moderation accomplishment - We are all blessed to know that you are there for us, ministering to us by letting us peak inside your life and the things that you find yourself enjoying or persevering through. It reminds me all the time what it means to be authentic... you are as you would say, "the REAL DEAL." Thanks for being who God created you to be. By the way, I'm not supposed to say anything... But I cannot resist, have a wonderful Birthday to that someone we all know and love but are not supposed to know is coming up! Blessings to the Moore and Jones households... many blessings from our Lord God to You!
Love ya,

I want to attend Camp Bigs! It sounds like so much fun!
I haven't tried the spray on tan, but I am a big fan of my "tan in a bottle"
I love sharing and loving Jesus w/ you and all the great gals here as well! God is good!
Beth,
Being computer challenged myself I so very proud of you for figuring out how to moderate. (I confess it took me a minute to even figure out what that is!) Oh, I miss those toddler days-especially as I attempt to entertain my 12 and 15 year old daughters these hot summer months. I so enjoy hearing about Jackson and, having had two little fellas once myself (they are now grown and on their own), it brings back sweet memories. Thanks for taking the time to share precious moments with us.
Kathy
Beth, you make me want to advertise for a little camper of my own!
Camp Bigs --
Believing In God School??
Just trying to interpret this Camp name...
Blessings to you and congratulations to the anniversary couple! Amanda, we miss you and pray you are having a wonderful siesta time with your darlin'.
To the sister whose heart hurts,
Cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Blessings to all of you!
Oh Beth and Amanda thank you so much for sharing with us.
I have begged and pleaded with our siestas over the past few weeks to pray for mother/family. She has just a couple of weeks left to live and when I log on and see all about Camp Biggs it brings such joy and laughter and smiles to a hurting soul.
My life is going to chagne drastically in the next few weeks as my mother slips away and my father is facing a repeat hip replacement. Our family has not been a happy family and things are very very difficult now. Please continue to lift me up and the future.
Thank you agian for sharing Jackson with us. He's a doll!!!
Beth,
What a special part of my day to sit down and read all about your adventures as a grandmother. It is by far, the best job
I have ever had.
You have touched my life in so many ways. Your willingness to be real, even makes you more special.
The blog has become a such a neat way to share your family.
Blessings to you and a very Happy Birthday.....
Grammy
Beth, Glad you are having a great time with your grandbaby. He sounds like a lot of fun. Have a great week with him. P.S. My mom's name is Beth and I am Melissa. Just don't have a sis named Amanda.
Love you and thanks for all you do.
Oh "Miss Beth" please please do tell some of us fair skinned little ones about the spray on tan. I have enough freckles (angel kisses) to sink a battleship so I try to avoid sun but would love to not be "blinding" those around me with my lilly white legs! Have a great week at camp!
PS! I was scared to go to Camp Grannies. And you didn't dare call my grandmother granny. You call her GG for gorgeous grandmother. She didn't want others to know she was old enough to have grandkids.
Camp Moore Granny take me away! It is 2:30 am my time and all this talk about ice cream on the last post makes me think I am going to go get a bite Breyers vanilla bean lactose free. I do like bluebell. Their HotFudge sundae is divine! It will be in heaven. Me and Jesus will have a big bowl of that yes sir!
Yay! You did it!
I bet you've been saying those words a lot at Camp Bigs! :) I know I say them a lot with my 2-1/2 year old. I also hear them quite a bit from her...especially when I have one-child audience when I use the bathroom. Oh, to receive such encouragement again! :)
Beth, I just love reading this blog. You remind me time and time again to not forget to have fun in life. So often I find myself getting so caught up in the task at hand that I forget to have fun. I know you hear this all the time, but seriously, thank you for your genuine nature and being so transparent with us. Your actiosn truly speak volumes about who Jesus. I love you, precious Siesta!!
Beth,
I hope Amanda realizes how luckly she and Curt are to have a wonderful safe place to leave Jackson. I have a huge extended family that helped me and my husband raise our two girls and when I hear about others who don't have anybody it makes me sad. I always had somebody begging me to let them keep the girls. During the summer I had to make them stay home so I could have some time with them. When I look at them now I see strong, God loving women that are the product of a God loving family. It really does take a village to raise a child. I am now trying to be there for my sisters who aren't blessed with a great family of in-laws like I am. I have 3 nephews whom I adore so I can only imagine what having grandchildren will be like. My mother is raising my niece and so I now have another daughter to add to my flock.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with Jackson, it brings back so many memories and makes me look forward to my own grandchildren.
A grateful siesta!!!
The only rule we had at "Camp Mimi" was that we could not wear our pajamas to Dairy Queen for our daily hot fudge sundae. I cherish those memories.
So glad you camp is going good, what a divine blessing grandchildren are. We are in our first week of your updated edition of A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place at our church and it is already such a trememdous blessing. Thank you so much for writing these studies, they have changed my life helping me to know Jesus better.
Hi Beth, I just recently found this blog and I love it. We just finished doing your "Loving Well" study at our church, and it makes me wonder...Does Camp Bigs include "Praise Dancing with Granny?"
Thank you for being so real and so fun.
Ah, the 120-degree Houston summers. Even as a native Houstonian, I generally despise Houston summers. But once you move away, even if you get to bask in the lovely, mild, low-humidity, mosquito-less New England summers, as I do, you still miss being home. There's all that reminiscent and slightly funny stuff like the steering wheel burning your hands when you get into your hot car and BBQ's with friends (real BBQ, not a cookout with hot dogs that someone calls a BBQ and you get your hopes up and, alas, it is no such thing).
However, I will NOT say that I miss the humidity. EVER. I do not love humidity. It takes your breath away and makes you sweat on the walk to the mailbox.
I can live the rest of my life without humidity, but not without BBQ. :)
hey...that reminds me... i have a few tans waiting for me in town.
It sounds like Camp Bigs is so much fun! When you decide to do one for teenage daughters let me know...oh wait, you've already been there, done that! Camper Jackson will certainly have a lot of fond memories of his first camp excursions!
Amanda-Happy Anniversary! It's great, isn't it?!! Most times anyway..after 21 years of being married to my wonderful hubby, I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather be...except maybe Camp Bigs =-)
Smiles!
Melissa
Your stories of Camp Big are so cute. I hope you have a blast all week.
I just love getting these updates from Camp Bigs!! My own children will be heading out to Camp NanaPapa (sounds like a Native American name doesn't it?? ha ha!!) next week. I just know they are going to have a blast!! (all the hugs, kisses, swimming, and jellybellys a kid could ask for!!)
Thanks for all your humor and encouragement through this blog. It truly does my heart good to see that no matter what we've been through in life, or what we may be going through, PEACE and VICTORY can be ours if we just live under HIS authority.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU my sweet Siesta!!! (I agree with Shayna, even though I am "thirty-something"...YOU ROCK!!)
Hey, hey, hey Beth,
I have absolutely loved reading your last few blogs. You're one rocking Granny!!!
I also love the idea of a "virtual" group meeting face-to-face in real time!! I really hope you do it. I'm actually on sabbatical in Fall studying how women support other women in virtual space (computer mediated communication). As a Communication Studies Professor and as Christian womwan I'm really, really intrigued by your idea of bloggers meeting together face-to-face in 2008. Please, please, please do this!!! And drop me a line. Besides being part of the event, I'd love to
STUDY it. Think about how much we could learn about on-line and face-to-face supportive communication. What a fantastic opportunity!! I'm just blown away by the idea (sorry, it's the professor in me. . always wanting to know more and help others effectively communicate.) I'd love to help your staff factiltate this in some way. REALLY!!
Hang in there, Beth. You're such a blessing. And of course, enjoy your role as camp counselor!!
(((Hugs)))

Haha your so awesome Beth! Your love for Jackson pours out every word you write. He's blessed to have a grandma like you. I just have to say that I've been having a down morning and then I read the line about the temp dropping to below 120 in the shade, and for some reason that just struck me as so funny and it gave me a much needed laugh. Thank you!
Dear Beth,
I love your idea of Camp Bigs for your grandson's visit with you and Keith. I am a retired two year old teacher and every summer I held Camp K-K (that is what all my kids called me). We would play in the water, ride big wheels, go on nature walks and alot more all withing the confines of our little pre-school. so you talking about Camp Bigs brings back alot of sweet memories of all the children that I have been blessed to know over the 15 years I was in pre-school.
I have been very blessed by your Bbile studies and I am waiting anxiously for the new Ester when you have finished it. God has given you the great gift of teaching and I know that teachers are held to the highest standards. So my prayers are with you to continue in your calling to spread the Gospel to as many women(and men) that will answer their calling for learning so they can pay it forward in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you. You are a blessing.
