Please More Spirit!
Since some of you Sistas brought up the subject of PMS (after all, we are sistas and if sistas have anything at all, it's hormones), I feel compelled to tell you what I told a group recently. If you want to live those fretful days of evil principalities with any measure of victory, if, when the day of evil comes, you indeed want to stand, you have to get in your head that PMS means Please More Spirit! Need a reference? OK, how about John 3:34 - "for God gives the Spirit without limit"? (It's a good thing.) Need another? Luke 11:13 - "how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" You know how furious we get when one of our loved ones makes the merest suggestion that maybe we're a little hormonal? Like those times when waking up to an open bag of Fritos on the coffee table and a water ring left from a sweating glass of soda seem perfectly legitimate grounds for divorce? If, while we're denying the remotest chance we could have PMS, we start looking for the nearest thing we could throw at them, we might want to see these words flashing in red florescent lights across the marque of our minds: Please More Spirit! Please More Spirit! This morning Keith drew my attention to a darling 12 year old girl at church with that look on her face and said, "I hope her parents are really keeping an eye on her. She really seems sullen." "Honey," I said, "All 12 year old girls are sullen. They are a hormone waiting to wreak havoc." How could he have forgotten? Between his three women - Amanda, Melissa, and me - his skin was in jeopardy the greater part of any given month. But don't think he wasn't the kind to invite trouble. He'd say stuff like, "I'm so sorry, Baby. That zit really looks like it hurts." Where's me a lamp?? Good thing we have God. That's all I'm saying. And good thing for THEM we have God. Next time around, remember two very important things:
1. Pray "Please More Spirit!"
2. Take Your Midol.

Oh what joy this brought to my spirit today!
Oh my gosh- you crack me up!! Seriously, what can sistas talk about if they can't mention PMS?? I get offended even if my husband mentions PMS- that time of the month or not!! I need to remember that- "Please More Spirit" that puts it in a much better light! Thanks for the insight Beth,
Love ya- Jackie
:) That sure is a better definition for PMS than the typical one we are most familiar with. I give you a hearty "Amen", sista.
Thankfully, God will give us more of His Spirit if we ask. His grace is truly sufficient for us, isn't it.
May God bless you today.
keeping a bag of chocolate nearby always helps too :)
and by bag i mean enough to eat or throw ;)
and if that doesn't work...how bout
Pretty Mean Sistas!!!!
(ok, i'm kidding) ;)
Beth, after reading your comment on PMS, a verse came to mind that our Pastor used this morning. James 1:19,20, "Dear brothers(and sistas!) don't ever forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry; for anger doesn't make us good, as God demands that we must be." I am going to memorize this verse to death. Since I am realizing that I am a very angry mama and wife. I clearly need more Spirit. Thank you for this blog, luv it!
Every time I cry my husband will ask me "Are you about to start?" He thinks whenever I cry that its PMS! (Beth, it reminds me of the Mary of Bethany series when Jesus asks her why she is crying?!?!?) I will be like NO! I am a person...with feelings!! Then when I start grabbing for the soft-baked chocolate chip cookies and I know he was right!
AMEN to PMS! Please more Spirit LORD!

Your post was perfectly timed for *me*!
Laughing out loud at this:
"those fretful days of evil principalities..." printing it out for my sweet husband. I have a feeling he could really use a laugh right about now...These being the days of Please More Spirit in our house.
And I appreciate this warning: "All 12 year old girls are sullen." But I am very afraid...because I think my oldest (almost eight) is already practicing! At least with the moods. Yikes! You know what you always say about cute kids? My "baby" girls (5 & 7) get complimented *everywhere*. Every. Where. And I always repeat in my mind what you say about cute kids. In fact...I seem to remember *my* mama having a phrase like that of her own for me. *grin*
"Good thing we have God. That's all I'm saying. And good thing for THEM we have God."
Amen. And Amen.
A friend found your blog and immediately shared it with meand I am absolutely tickled she did.
My almost-eight-year old is already planning for the day she and I can share a blog. I daresay, it would/will? be lively!
Blessings!
In Christ alone,
Kari
I happen to have a zit right IN BETWEEN MY EYEBROWS! It hurts REALLY bad!
I've told some of my friends what you said PMS stood for and they all thought that was GREAT!
What age does the "sullen" look start? My TEN YEAR OLD is "sullen" looking ALL THE TIME! Today, just today, we were at Target and she said to me "mom, do they sell you know what here?" She meant the essentials that we women need. HELP ME, LORD JESUS! Like Keith, my husband's "skin is going to be in jeopardy the greater part of any given month."
We have an eight year old right on the heals of my ten year old. Most of the time, I feel like they have PMS ALREADY! Girls, girls, girls! DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!
Calgon, or should I say, Jesus, take me AWAY!
Please More Spirit...I love it! I am laughing out loud at "Good thing we have God." Amen to that! Good thing they have God too.
It's scripture. "Honey, is it that time of the month?"
Proverbs 26:21, "....As charcoal to embers and wood to fire..."
PMS---"Pardon My Sobbing", I would say..
Why is that??!! To be more feminine? The Damsel in distress?
Mercy....it's pitiful,whatever it is.
Please More Spirit...I will pray!
Blessings,
Connie Barris

To my dear local Publix grocery store:
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to you for emptying your shelves of all items that are high in fat this week. My 'Please More Spirit' days were fighting against my 'Perpetual Munching Spree' flesh and I have left you void of many of your prized possessions, such as chocolate chip cookies and pizza. To all mothers with young children, I humbly receive your 'thank you' for making it easy to take your children to the grocery store this week; due to my consumption, I have removed those sugary items that your kids pitch a fit over in the middle of the floor while you continue to stroll through the aisles, pretending they aren't yours for the moment. To the 'Publix Massacre Spotted' scene - the name fitting b/c of its current empty state, I wanted to let you know that I've been encouraged with something that will keep me from wiping out all of your goods in the future. 'Please More Spirit' - I will seek!
"Where's me a lamp??"
THAT is priceless!
Thanks for the insights -- Please More Spirt!!! Our house inhabits a pre-menoposal mother (me) and a 12 year old daughter surrounded by brothers. On any given day she's Sullen -- along with most of her friends. I too, can be rational one day and barely holding onto my patience another. Please More Spirt -- We need it Morning, Noon and Night!!!!!
God wired us, he understand us! On those days, I need prayer time like I need breathing!!!
Sistas -- Breath in the good air (Christ) and breath our the bad -- (our emotional rollercoaster)!!

It only gets worse, doesn't it? Now that I'm on the back side of 30, there is all sorts of new "spirit" that comes on a monthly basis.
And with an eight and a half year old daughter with beginning hormonal issues, I am already seeing (and dreading) that full hit.
Boy, can I relate! In my family, I am the only woman. There are three wonderful men in my life, my sweetheart and our two sons. There have been times when I'm sure they thought I must be from another planet. Case in point overhearing one of the boys say "it must be that time of the month".
Beth, thank you for sharing "Please More Spirit!" I wish my need for more Spirit was limited to those times due to PMS. I confess to you, my Sistas, when Christ is not the focal point of my heart my thoughts become myopic and the stage is set for a pity party. No one wins when this happens. I pray to learn to ask for "Please More Spirit" on a daily basis.
"He must become greater; I must become less." John 3:30
On another note, I want to tell you how much I am enjoying the songs on Travis Cottrell's latest release. A couple of months ago a group of ladies at my church finished your study of Daniel. The intro music for the study was awesome. To find the song, including words, on Travis' CD has been a great blessing. The song entitled, Your Word is Life to Me, brings back some of the lessons learned. After hearing it, I find myself trying to recall the chapter rhymes.
My son, Nathan, is in college at the University of Arkansas. He is having great difficulty with one of his classes, organic chemistry. If you will, please lift him up in your prayers this semester.
Have a great week everybody!
I just love it. Thanks for the redirect!
Ha ha! I am not PMSing, but don't you think we all have our hormonal moments during other times of the month? This afternoon, when the Clinique salesperson told me my shade of foundation was out for a week, I must admit the look I think I gave her was not one to be proud of. I was so upset; I had been waiting until today to"refill" so I could get my free gift....you all know what I am talking about. Anyway, I regrouped and decided to try a new shade (after 5 years!). AHHHHHH! I just hope that I, in the end, left a pleasant enough feeling with that counter girl. I have a retail business myself, and sometimes, I just get so upset with how I do others in retail.
O.K, this is for the women young enough to still have their monthly visit but because of a doctors hand not longer have signs of the visit. Hope that wasn't TMI. Now when that emotional time comes around I know it only when my level of patience is about one minute. But I can't give in because my Mom in all her wisdom, told me years ago, "You are responsible for your reactions no matter what anyone else does". There was no blaming it on PMS in our family! So I have learned during those "times" to hold my tongue(I'd sit on it if it was long enough)until the Spirit quiets my spirit. I remind myself--What is down in the well comes up in the bucket. If the well is peaceful and content before ---during won't be as much of a problem. So until I can fully say my well is peaceful at all times--I'll carry some heavy duty tape for my lips during those sweet hormonal visits. And pray, pray pray!
Beth,
I had a hysterectomy a few years back ( after three beautiful children) so I no longer have to deal with the more messy aspects of that time of the month. But I still ovulate so I have all the fun mood swings. Now is that fair?! :) My friends and I call it Aunt Martha. In high school we used to use the code that Aunt Martha was coming to visit again. That Aunt Martha sure carries a lot of baggage! It's good to have sistas who get that. My sweet husband just shakes his head and wonders what in the WORLD is wrong with me! Now that he's getting smarter, he doesn't actually ask that out loud. :) Lots of love, Julie B. Tucson
Thanks for the verse Beth lol.
As a mom of two daughters, one of those just turning 13...I love it!
Does Midol really work?
Ha, ha! That's GREAT! My husband will be SO THRILLED you taught me that acronym. Especially this coming week! ;-)
It's amazing to me how every month the PMS thing catches me off guard like I haven't been here before. I just can't put my finger on what's wrong and then finally, perplexed,I blurt out something like..."I don't know what's wrong. [After much thought...]It may be my period coming...I don't know. Maybe." And then, like a blubbering thing, I say, "[sob] I'm [sob] so [sob, sob] sorry [sob]!!!! You'd think after 24 years of this, I would see it coming. Nope. Not me. :)
Elaine
beth-love it and passing it on. so simple. Please More Spirit! oh, the beauty of simplicity. how He longs to be apart of our everything!ooohh i gotta go- my son just lost his last baby tooth!
lovin life in Him-lisa
Oh Beth - that is great advice. However, some of us Sistas are way past PMS and well into Menopause!! Can we say night-sweats and hot flashes? We all have husbands who are freezing to death while we try to stay cool!! I guess we can be a tad moody too. So perhaps more Spirit helps here too.
Thanks Beth!!
Hilarious!!! I don't think I'll ever look at it the same again. I've often said my husband doesn't stand a chance in this house with me and 2 daughters. He doesn't know what's in store for him - poor thing!
That's BRILLIANT! I love it!
I will need that next week! Isn't God the best?
And yes, Midol is truly FABULOUS!
Much love,
Sarah

As a 12 year old full of hormones, my mother would often great my father at the door and advise him on my mood. Often her words consisted of, "don't look at her, but don't ignore her!" My husband, who was an only child, has much to learn as our two girls are growing so quickly! Won't he be surprised?!
Happy Sunday Beth,
This was a great post, I needed this very thing today!! I loved the scriptures you used and will keep them in mind. Thanks for the great post.
that was great...thanks for the encouraging word
oh Beth - you are such a bright spot in my day! PMS - Please, MORE SPIRIT - I love it! I need it! Believe it or not I live with 46 other women (I'm a nun!). So just imagine the hormone level here! Whew! I have long been advocating jsut putting the Midol directly in the water!
blessings in abundance to you and yours - Lynn
Please More Spirit would be much easier on my hips than my current method which is Please More Snickers.
I've been reading the blog for about a week now but this is the first time I've posted. I was at the Seattle LPL and heard Please More Spirit loud and clear. I so needed that reminder. Since having my first baby 9 mo. ago, my emotions are all over the map. My mom never let me take out PMS on the rest of the fam growing up, but since these mood swings don't seem to follow my cycle, I'd forgotten to battle them the same way. Thank you for your reminder (my husband thanks you too! He was starting to think he'd need a canoe to paddle thru all the tears around here) Much love in our precious Jesus!
Angie
thank you for this sweet word... it's exactly what i needed to hear. Please More Spirit - I will not forget.
lol, I needed to hear that. I don't typically get angry, I get overwhelmingly sad. All the things I try so hard to run from the rest of the month burst through for that one week and I am plummeted to the depths of despair with no tools to claw my way back out. Thanks so much for providing that perspective, it is very near time for me to give that a try! Of course, the wise thing to do would be to quit running, so I've been working on that, too.
Thanks for these words of wisdom! The same suggestion would have also served me well after my second child was born last October. Those post-partum emotions will get ya every time! :) I'll definitely keep this in mind when the PMS days roll around again for me again!
Several years ago I sat in my doctor's office (a sweet Christian man) with tears running down my face and asked, "Is there any way to have PMS and remain Spirit-filled?" Acknowledging my challenge, he then said, "Sounds like the title of a good book...you ought to work on that."
The book has never been written... because I'm still trying to find an answer to that question and also because an author I am not. But I know someone who is....how 'bout it Sista?
Thank you for your sweet words of admonition and encouragement they mean the world to me!

You have no idea how many times I've wondered, "What kind of advice would Beth give me about PMS?" I finally found out..........4 months after my hysterectomy! :)
Hey Beth,
I just stumbled on your "blob" and I wished it had been earlier. I'm in the PMS area of my life again and my husband had to remind me of the bumps on my face this morning. If only I could have said Please More Spirit. I have enjoyed reading everything so far. By the way I'm one of your Raleigh girls that the Lord put on her face during my homework. We spoke about it after I sent you my letter. Thanks for everything you do. Sherrie W
THANK YOU so much for addressing this issue. I have been struggling with it more recently than I have in a long while, and I admit to having let it get the best of me. Thank you for giving me a tool to use against the "evil enemy" we call hormones!
And THAT is why I love ya so much...you are so willing to go "there", for the glory of Jesus Christ! Thank you sweet sista!

" You must let go of childish wisdom, and look inside your soul, for the wisdom that is buried deep within you, For there, is where you are strong, because your strength comes from what you already know. Hold it close." ~God
This was spoken to me awhile back to my heart, and thought I would share with you:-)
thanks beth , that is one more definition of PMS to add to my collection:
1. pass more snickers
2. punish my spouse
3. praising my savior
i could just picture you pecking at the keys writing that blog. a great reminder--His word is so practical!!
p.s. i just got a copy of your new reprinted childrens book. i will be giving it to a friend for valentines day. my emma grace(six years old) already has it. we love it. please write more.
Poor Erin. Savannah's on her way! Any day now and we may take our leap to woman-hood. If our monthly emotional outbreaks are anything like the preliminaries I don't know what we will do!! I believe I will wake her up to memorize "Please more Spirit" in the morning!!
Maybe God knew the monthly combination of Peyton and Savannah would be just about ALL Erin could handle. Maybe He DID appoint my hysterectomy after all...teehee!
I so could have used this a week ago! But, It works now too!
any of you Houston homegirls want to give me some help on what the cheapest safest easiest way to get from IAH to Katy Freeway is?? I am flying in to hang with you all for Tuesday night bible study in March and am not from the area. Actually I'm presently living as a missionary in Honduras and am passing through Houston to be with my sisters as we hang out in His Word for a bit together. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks girls!!!
Hello everyone. Please lift me up in prayer today or as you think of it. My mother who lives in CT passed away tragically last night in an apt fire. Today was frantically trying to find a cheap flight from Houston to BDL; Defeated and unable to, I will wait for tomorrow when I can contact my church and see if there's anyone that can help. Unfortunately my mother and I were estranged for the most part. I never thought this day would come.. she was only 46. Please please lift me up in prayer as I face the lions (her family) who can be quite hateful. This will be the first time my husband will meet my family. With Love, Aveina, AKA Star. (Sahsha's Mummy.. http://sahsha.blogspot.com)
...one more thing, you all are in my subconscience....
my four year old "lukie j" (luke josiah)was sick all last week , when he was finally feeling better and had an appetite--his request was an oreo mcflurry!
while sitting in the parking lot and the kids were eating in the van, im thinking..poor amanda cant eat this. then one night i couldnt sleep because i caught luke's cold and im thinking of the sistas who asked for prayer, the differnt comments i read about anna nicole smith, beth' great explantion for the celebrity thing, boomama's site
(great one, thanks)and much more, i starting thinking: this sista stuff is the real deal--the Lord is our bond and glue.
p.s.
i got to spend all day saturday with my one of my real sisters who happens to be one of my best friends. we had a blast. shopping, getting a haircut, laughing , talking and off course eating:)
she is not married and doesnt have kids but she is like mary poppins with my kids who adore her....plus she drives a "fast car"-- too cool.
no fries in her car!!! anyway, praise God for sisters!!
No. 1 .... I am glad I have a boy.
Also, my husband always calls it my "friend" which never fails to aggravate me... it brings new meaning to "with a friend like that who needs enemies?"
I love this, sistas! My personal recommendation (having early menopause, chemical and then 'natural'. . . my poor husband) and having 2 daughters grow up at the same time is this:
get yourself a box of Junior Mints.
open box, and take out 1, and only 1.
put in mouth and let it slowly dissolve -- DON'T CHEW!
The dark chocolate is high in antioxidants and magnesium; the peppermint is soothing; and best of all. . .
if you are sucking on a Junior Mint you can't yell at anyone without getting chocolate slobber on your sweater or shirt!!
It also doesn't hurt to recite Ephesians 4:29, while your mouth is otherwise engaged. . ."Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."
Thanks for the blog!
note to self: Read The LPM blog first...THEN go to WalMart. Not the other way around.
As a friend of mine put it, "it's PPPMS for me" PRE, PRESENT AND POST! I'm with her on that one. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MORE SPIRIT for us!
Star, I'm going to pray for you tonight. Who knows why God allows what He allows sometimes, but I can testify that the other side of your tragity is His glory!
love you all!
Oh Beth,
Thank you so much for a powerful reminder. My, my how those 3 words can be used to spare hurt feelings of our friends and family.
For some of us, it not about tears or sobbing but, "I have PMS and a hand gun, any questions?"
Please More Spirit!
Please more Spirit...Amen Sistas. Being on the brink of 45, I am going through some stages of menopause. Even though in the past I have been dealing with mood swings, chocolate and salt cravings. My daughter is only 22 and she goes through this as well. We often laugh at this together. My husband and son always make it a point to stand clear as if the enemy could attack at any moment. Ha! Ha!
I remind my husband that God created females too! I will choose to place my trust in him to help me through those turbulent times. Another way of stating this...Please more Spirit!!!
God Bless you ladies...we will overcome in Christ Jesus
Here is a poem:
Cause my eyes to see
may they be focused on thee
in the midst of my longing heart
hear the beat
the crying deep
troubled mind be silenced with ears
brightened with eyes
than the light that brings a message sure
the song with melodies stir
hope springs anew no more adieu
and my heart captured by you.
Thanks for your insight Beth! I needed it! My husband just returned from a week long trip and I found myself annoyed at him and wondering what is wrong with me? I really missed him. As another sista said, "you'd think I'd see this coming"!
Lord - Please More Spirit!

Sent to ALL teen girls in my life!
Beth,
That's a wonderful perspective! I'm still smiling :) I just had a baby 2 months ago and between pregnancy & post partum hormones I've been a mess for awhile now! It's good to look at it from a different angle and also read y'alls comments on the subject! My husband and other 2 at home (both girls...another thing to look forward to..) will probably appreciate a new attitude! I'd been praying for help on that one!
Side note to Star: I will lift you up in my prayers! When looking for flight arrangements some airlines have special allowances or rates for bereavement or emergencies, it may help. May our Abba Father see you through this time.
Your Sista,
Kathleen
Oh, that reminds me of something my oldest son did years ago! I can tell it because he's now 24. My son found some birth control pills (in a friend's purse) and ate 1 or 2 thinking they were candy. The poison control told me he'd be ok but might have a little "bit of the baby blues" for a few days. And YES, he did!!! I wonder if that experience has made him more thoughtful during his wife's time of the month?
Kathleen
Star,
You will be lifted up many times this week. I am so sorry.
Good thing we don't have any lamps in our house! Too funny Beth! I'll have to remember the Junior Mint advice from Mama Bev.
Kathleen
Oh Beth, how wonderful!! I have three daughters all with slightly different cycles so there are some months when -- well, let's just say the Spirit is with us for a LONG TIME!!!
Star,
You are in my prayers Sista, Remember, he is there with you...
Your blog sista in Christ,
Debby Ann
Well, I don't have my cycle anymore but I have traded them in for hot flashes (Now, I qualify as one "hot" mama) and night sweats. A funny memory, my younger brother went to the store with me (years ago) and we went down the dreaded aisle with the women products, and I asked my brother to grab a package of pads for me and place them in the buggy, well he freaked out and wouldn't touch them, I laughed my head off, well on the way to the car he was carrying the groceries and he dropped a bag and guess what went flying out of the bag in the middle of the parking lot?!! He was so mad and his face was so red and he picked up the pads and threw them in the car. I nearly died laughing!!!
My boys complain all the time about my hot flashes and tell me how hard it has been on them since my hysterectomy. Too, much!! They make me laugh!
AMEN AMEN and AMEN!!!! I so love your candidness, my sista!!! Just what I needed to hear this morning!! Love you, Beth!!
A Raleigh Sista needing "please more spirit"!!
Beth,
Thanks so much for "Please More Spirit"!!! I have soooo needed that. I will use it from now on as my prayer to get me through those times and of course my Ibuprofen. Anyway, I have to share with yall how much this bloggin' stuff is affecting me. Positive affecting I mean. I returned home Saturday from running errands in town, and Third Day was playing in my car. I'm not sure of the title but this song is from their 2004 CD. Anyway, I just had such overwhelming joy and praise for my Lord and what He is to me, that I just sat there, in my driveway, with the CD player turned up loud and sang at the top of my lungs. It was great!!! You have to know that I do NOT sing. I make a joyful NOISE at best. My 2 boys and husband often give me looks when I get too loud in church; embarassment to them you know, but anyway, I didn't care Saturday morning in my car. I was just so full of joy. That is a fruit that is more meaningful to me everyday of life. I just had to share this because as I was sitting in my car, singing at the top of my lungs, dancing in my seat, my children stopping their play in the yard to look at the car rocking in the driveway, I thought to myself, "This is something Beth Moore would do". I don't know Beth if you have or not but I can imagine you doing it. Anyway, thanks for the bloggin' and know what an inspiration you are to me. I have truly enjoyed reading comments from ALL of my Sistas in Christ.
Isn't He lovely?
Have a blessed day ladies.
Sarah in Georgia
Hey Everybody!
Let's pray for Star every time the Lord brings her to mind. May the Lord be all over that situation. Bring comfort Lord! Only You can help.
I was thinking about what one sista said about the statement, "Do you think I'm lovely?" I think that was from John and Stasi Eldredge's book "Captivating." One thing that it mentions in the book, which goes right along with PMS is that as women, we feel like we're either too much or not enough. Too much emotion, too much talking, not beautiful enough, not thin enough, etc.. Well, one thing that I want too much of, Beth, is exactly what you said...Please More Spirit....oh please, oh please!

I LOVE IT. Now what about those of us who are post-menopausal? Those "personal summers" are so taxing on my emotions. Speaking of emotions - up one day, down the next. Will my personality ever level out?
Please More Spirit NOW!
What about when you're pregnant!? I have 3 little girls in my belly right now and they are going to be beautiful, but they are sure making me HORMONAL! When I cry (i often have no good reason to cry) I ask the Lord to help me through this...just remember the beautiful miracleS at the end! ...but it still feels good to just let it all out occasionally! My husband asks me why I'm crying and even if I have no REAL good answer...he has been wonderful and as understanding as possible! I think God for him daily!

I love your humor on a topic that usually brings dread... But I wish you wouldn't give the ok to take Midol! Leading researchers agree that Vit D (sunshine) is a preferred treatment vs. more harmful drugs - even OTC like Midol and Motrin which can lead to liver and kidney disease!! God gave us the Sun!
I've been tempted to just pitch a tent in the backyard and yell "unclean" everytime anyone comes near :-)! I think those Old Testament folks might have had the right idea! Thanks Beth for keeping it real. A bigger dose of the Spirit is what we need...a little chocolate and a Venti Starbucks doesn't hurt either.
Another remedy for PMS is menopause. Am lovin it!!
sista lynn- i am laughing out loud! "advocating putting the midol directly in the water" - your 46 sisters are lucky to have your sense of humor in residence.I just thought of madame clavell - maybe Madeleine just needed a drink!
Thank you for this insight :) It helps to think of this problem from a more spiritual perspective. And those men that call it a "friend" ha I say my curse on bad days and my visitor on others. I've heard and used the term "aunt Martha" and also "aunt Flow" :) Beth I am lovin you guys' blog, I read every post but dont always comment. xoxo melzie
That is TOOO funny! You are a mess!
Thanks for the laugh. Laughter is good medicine!!
Beth,
You are so hilarious, and yet it
is SO true at that time of the month, isn't it? More of Him, that's what I need!
I've been clinging to my sweet and merciful Savior since I came to know Him as such a few years ago. However, I've never had a tighter grip on the Lord since last February when I started having involuntary movements in my head, neck, and sometimes arms and legs. They are now calling it a "tic disorder" and I get to play "guinea pig" to see which medications will help lessen these tics. I need His dunamis (sp?) strength more and more each day
YES, YES, YES! Please More Spirit!
And, my cyber sistas have been wonderful as prayer warriors. I appreciate them so very much! (Lifeway Boards)

What a timely post for me! This is my week and I'm a "little cranky". Now instead of yelling at everyone, I'll be chanting "Please More Spirit" in my head. Thank you Sista for the assist on this one.
Haha! You are too funny. Thanks for the laugh this morning. :)
Hi Shelly, You and I are cut from the same cloth, sista! Perpetual Munching Spree describes me perfectly right this very moment, no less! When I was in high school, we called it "falling off the roof"--could we have been more obvious? And to this day, I don't know how that phrase got started. On a much more serious note, thank you Star for opening up your heart to us. We will pray for you often.
Star -
I lost my mom 3 months ago last Tuesday. We were not estranged, in fact she was my best girl-friend. Losing your mom is a terrible thing. I will lift you up.
Connie
Abby,
Your acronyms are hillarious!! I loved "Pass My Shotgun." Reminded me of a bumpersticker. :)
Beth,
I, too, was at the Seattle LPL (celebrated my birthday with you) and heard "Please More Spirit" loud and clear. Even wrote it in my notes! Thanks!
Philemon 7 "...you [sista] have refreshed the hearts of the saints." :)
Love ya! --Janet
As my best friend and I would say to each other "just throw me outside the city & come and get me in a week"!
Remembering the Daniel Study when you said, "We Moores always have to have MORE." Hope I quoted you right. It was after you rolled out the scroll of "family stuff."
Father, work out Stars traveling plans. Help her and love on her for all of us! Jesus, we love you for the work you are going to do for Star this week and in the times to come.
Aura, I'd love to ride with you and your sister in her fast french fry free car. Route 66 Goes thru my town!
Please more spirit...as long as it's the right kind. My eighteen year old daughter can be plenty "spirited" during that time. (I think it's a plot to persuade me to let her get married earlier...and sometimes I'm ready to say yes!) Since we are "in that time" right now, I enjoyed the comments and certainly will be praying that the Lord will guide her to have His spirit. (That makes me sound like I never have PMS moments but unfortunately, I know where she got her "attitude" from.) On the plus side, as her younger brother looks at her (us) like we are critters from the black lagoon, he doesn't seem to be inclined to "date" at the moment. Hopefully we haven't scarred him for life!
Beth this is great. You are too funny. I just can hear you saying this out loud and to me it is even funnier hearing it in my head. Love ya girl.
A houston sista
I cannot believe how many funny, gifted women are here! I have been laughing so hard I snorked.
My family has graciously allowed me an "out" for my less than spirit-filled moments. They have decided that I have an evil twin whose name is Rowena. I know I am a little (or a lot) snippy when someone in our house yells, "Hey Mom, Rowena's here!!!"
I apologise to anyone who might be named Rowena. :)
a little laughing goes a long way when it comes to PMS. Wish my husband could remember that fact:-)
and Star, sweetie, you are in my prayers...hold onto Jesus. He knows the way through this and He will guide you...just hang on. And when you feel like you can't hang on anymore...know He's hanging onto you.
I have had strange reactions to Midol, so let me offer that Pamprin also works. :)
I LOVE the Please More Spirit. I'll remember that next week.
Bless you, Beth & Amanda!
Love,
Pattie
Oh, I have plenty of spirit. Just not the right kind! :)
I'll tell you what ... I PMS everyday! LOL Please MORE Spirit! That was great.
