Sistas, That's What!
Our fellow blogger, Jackie, asked a good question after our lesson last night in Houston on friendships: BETH...... Okay tonight at Bible study we learned about calling our relationships by the right name.. we have friends, acquaintances, mentors, counselors, etc. SOOOO.... what do we call all these crazy ladies that have become an "online family"? They are a new sort of relationship.
I'll tell you what we call us: SISTAS!!!!! Blood-kin in Jesus' Name.

Have you ventured over to Boomama's blog yet? I don't know her from Adam's housecat, but she is a riot!!! Her blog about your blog left me looking for a box of kleenex and a depends.
Oh, my gosh! This is just hilarious. I've never heard anyone but my best friend use the term "sistas." Sometimes she'll sign her emails to me like this: "Spill it, sista!" (That's her way of asking me to email back.) It never fails to make me laugh.
I absolutely love this blog! And I love my blog "sistas!"
That's right!! We are Sistas in Christ!! I love this blog and we have a common bond-Jesus!! I love how the enemy uses the internet for evil but GOD uses it for good!! We are Family, I've got all my sistas with me!! Boy, my singing sounds good in here just like in the shower!!

"Sista" is what I call my real life sister. I think that is a GREAT name for all of us online SISTAS.
I've been reading the blog since accidentally stumbling upon it right before Christmas. What a blast it has been! What an unexpected source of encouragement and joy!
I have to say something really jumped out to me from the post on the Proverbs teaching. Just last night I woke up at 4am and was wide awake feeling very troubled over some ongoing life issues. Yep, right there in the middle of the night, it was just me and HIM. After the requisite tossing and turning, I decided to have a little chat with Him...and in my heart I was compelled to begin counting my blessings out to God...and I drifted off to sleep with all the good things in my life swirling around in my head. Whew! What an awesome God!

That was precisely my question. So, Jackie thanks for asking and Beth for responding. Acquaintance just didn't seem right for you Beth. I have met you before and I have done so much life with you (unbeknownst to you of course)that I could not be satisfied with just acquaintance.

Yea, it reminds me of the women in my grandmother's little country baptist church where all the women called one another sister. It was sister Rosie, sister Lorene, sister Edith. Have you heard that in a while? It brings back lots of sweet memories. I think I'll write this in my journal.

Beth, I just discovered your blog yesterday and have been reading your older blogs and trying to piece together all the thoughts! I'm enjoying it and am deligted to call you a SISTA!
I'm in my second "Beth Moore" Bible study, Daniel, and really enjoying it. Although my neighbor and I are just participants in this study, we've been invited by a church in a neighboring county to come get "Beth Moore" started in their churches. We will be starting A Heart Like His in March. I prayed for God to show me where He wanted me, and the next week He answered! Praise God! Thanks for all you do, SISTA!

Bless Your heart Beth! Last night the Lord spoke directly to me through you on friends. I have carried unforgiveness and distrust over something that happened 25 years ago, and have not had a dear friend since. God has really been using you to heal my broken heart. I got your "Get out of that pit" and your "whisper of hope" organizer for Christmas.
I come home on Tuesday nights and my husband says "how was Beth" as if you & I are getting together!
I'm facilitating "Beloved Desciple" on Wednesday nights at my church right now.

HELLO, SISTAS! :)
Well, this is the first time I have ever kept up with a blog or commented on one.
It is intriging to me how a hunger for and love of the Word of God has brought so many women together. Words can't really express how encouraging that is!
I went to the first session of Breaking Free last night. This is the 3rd time I have attempted to do this study. Satan won't stop me this time around! Pray for me!

Oh amen, some of these women I may never meet face to face on this side of glory. But Lord do they help me with my walk and keep me accountable. If I don't show up a few days, they come "looking" for me. They are as real to me as my close friends in real life. I praise God for the bond through the internet.

I love it! This is what I taught my 2nd daughter to call her older sister when she started talking, "Sista".

Thank you for holding up so well in the recent event of such epic proportions. Adding an unknown number of LPM Bloggers to your list of people to love I'm sure was a shock at first...it was to me too. I was going to ask you to stop smiling so big because you are becoming a terrible distraction to my studies. I guess the beautiful thing about love though, is that when you get to this point of loving so much it hurts, you find that it actually doesn't hurt at all. So on second thought, love all you want. These sisters are my life. :)

P.S. I was thinking the other day about how when I was little, my mom used to go to you at the MET. I always wondered who you were, and then you came to our church and did something, your flyers were everywhere. I was in the bathroom and asked my mom who beth moore was...

Beth, I just love having you as a Sista. I have 2 sisters and when we write we call it "Sistah mail" (with an H). Whenever we get together in person or on line somehow the conversation always gets around to you. We talk about you, your family, your books, your Bible studies and how many studies or siminars we have attended. We can now officially call you
sista. I love this Blog and anxiously wait daily for a word from you. Just think, If it were not for the love of Jesus we would not be friends and now we are Sistas.

I'm so grateful for you, Beth, and for this lovely community you've permitted to flower here. E-life can be a little grim; it's wonderful to find a group like this, ready to encourage and laugh together.
I started listening to "Living Beyond Yourself" this morning, and almost the first words of the study spoke directly to my situation and my life. You have a way of doing that - I am so grateful for you!
This blog brings out the Jr High girl in me.
I was quite the note writer...and had great "note folding skills" Yall know what I'm talking about. I remember the thrill of a blank piece of ruled notebook paper, a sharp pencil and a teacher that wasn't paying attention. I think the way this blog makes me feel is sorta like the way it felt to get a note passed to me...that someone thought about me to write me a note....that someone read the note I wrote too! It's a great feeling to connect! Even greater when God is glorified in it!

I just had to add this after reading the last couple of blogs. We are truly sistas in Christ, and only God understands us, as proven by this study. :-)
A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.
For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with a spear lodged in his chest and tape over his mouth while he is on fire.

I am definitely lovin' my SISTAS! I knew I was getting myself into a ditzy family (by choice), but I think I'm only just now realizing how amazing this is. "Laughing until I nearly choked and threw up in my mouth" describes my own reaction to reading many of these responses. It's a good thing that I'm usually alone in the church office when I read the blogs in the morning or the pastor would immediately call for a prayer meeting!
I grew up without any sisters, only 2 brothers 10 & 12 years older than me, so this "Sista" neighborhood has captured my heart. I find myself throughout the day remembering a comment and laughing to myself or remembering to send up a quick prayer. But it's becoming addictive. I'm looking for ways to cheat every hour or so and check in to see if anything new is going on! Like Salty Sister said, it's the wonderful feeling of passing notes in class and knowing a friend is thinking about you and even cares enough to write back. Not to single out only one person because I'm coming to love ALL of you and would love to have a slumber party together, but Boomama - I can't wait to meet you one day!
Now that we have a name for our online family, maybe we could designate a time every day or a couple of times a week to drink a cup of coffee together (or tea or diet coke over ice) and give thanks to God and say a quick prayer for the sistas. To know that, regardless of how the day is going and the differences in time zones, etc. - for a moment nothing matters but the absolute joy and privilege of being able to pray for my sistas and know they're praying for me!

This is my first comment here and I am a little embarrassed to say that I about had a heart attack when I found out you girls had a blog going. I love blogging and the friendships I've made so much through writing. Being a music pastor's wife at a very large church is often difficult for me in finding confidants. Blogging has definitely given me friends, acquaintances, mentors, counselors, etc. I can be myself in a very open honest way with girls going through the exact same things I am going through. Glad to meet you SISTAS!
