Airport Sightings and Divine Blessings!

Siestas, I have to talk fast! I am at the Houston airport and just about to board but I have had the best airport morning and I have to let you in on it! God is so incredibly fun. Last night my poor overworked, post-op, back-injured body didn't know how it was going to make it to IAH this morning. My spirit was so excited to go to Tucson but my flesh was feeling weak. When my alarm went off way too early this morning, I was kinda like, "OK, God, You better do this! Let's go to Tucson!" and I felt that surge of supernatural energy. I felt joy in my soul and excitement over the Word I believe He's giving us this weekend. It was time to go forward in obedience and put one foot in front of the other.

THEN, Michelle and I got to the airport and, for this consummate people-watcher, it was blessings all mine and ten thousand beside! I saw a group of Wildcats from Kentucky. I saw a missions group from Honduras. (I didn't get to talk to any of these folks. I just enjoyed the heck out of seeing them.)

THEN...THEN....THEN...I was on the tram going to "C" terminal because our "B" terminal from which we are flying doesn't have a Starbucks behind security. (I know. TMI. I'm trying to hurry here.) AND, lo and behold, I looked right next to me and my eyes nearly bugged out of my head. I tried to contain myself but finally gave way to a Fan-Attack. "Sir," I said. "I am so sorry to bother you but are you one of the Duck Commanders?" (He had on his black glasses and camo and everything.) He took off his glasses, smiled in the cutest way a man with all that hair on his face could possible smile, and said, "Yes." As I live and breathe, it was Willie Robertson. (You'll have to Google it if you are out of the duck hunting loop which I suppose a few of you are.)

And YES I DID get off that tram and ask if I could have my picture taken with him. YES, YOU BET I DID. Then I texted it to my husband who has never loved me this much in our entire marriage.

I love Tucson already! Praise You, Lord! A deposit on what is to come!

P.S. And now this??? Too much!

This is the cutest thing I have ever heard, and pretty much exactly what would happen if I ran into you at an airport! :) So cool how a God serious enough to pursue us, fling this earth in existence, send his son to die in the cross for our lives, yet, even in our times of weakness provide a moment of laughter, fun, and enjoyment in the simplest things!

I am praying for you daily. God is overwhelming relentless, right?

Love you

I was just thinking that if I saw you in an airport I would want to just walk up and start talking to you because I feel like I know you so well! And yet I would be a total stranger. That must happen to you, though, because so many of us have sat under your teaching for years. I guess it seems like you know us,too.

Actually, upon second glance, is that hair in the back actually hair or is it residual beard growth? I was just assuming it was his hair and, judging by the width of it, I naturally assumed that, should his hat be removed, there would be an overflow of hair. Now I'm not so certain. Perhaps you're not in danger of being out-heighted by a duck hunter? One can only hope.

I just love that God gave you an insight on how all of us feel when we see you! I read so many Christian blogs (mine incl!) that always start out with a phrase like "Ok, I'm not a stalker, but I feel like I know her..." when they talk about you. I know what you mean when you say "my husband who has never loved me this much in our entire marriage." I'm so glad you guys can share duck hunting with each other!

Beth, when you show us your completely spontaneous side, we just can't help but love you Moore :) I flew to Houston for a family wedding a few yrs ago. I told Julie, a friend of yours, that I hoped I'd run into you at the airport. She just shook her head and said, "You know it's people like you who scare Beth." Oh I hope not! We love you so.
But you may be relieved to know that as I learned one of God's names in your Patriarch's study: El Bethel, I believe God layed it on my heart to never seek the Beth of God, but ever only seek the God of the Beth of God. Confused? Thank you God for not minding my odd sense of humor

How funny! My husband is an airline pilot...I'm often hearing stories of folks he's seen. If a pilot should ever ask to have his picture taken with YOU I hope you will oblige him because he will sending it to me in a text with the same enthusiasm!

I have to share this....I just completed my Esther study this morning. Fantastic! But here's the story. I was out eating with one of my boys and a couple of moms and their young kids were also there. As one was leaving and got near the door she turned around and called out, "Bye (mom's name), Bye HAMAN!" I almost spewed food from my mouth. She likely HAD NO clue, but to me it was like hearing a child named Hitler!!!! Made me wish I had researched my own kids names before choosing them. Made me chuckle and scratch my head.

Hope it's as pretty where each of you are as it is here where I am today. Blessings!

When he walked in with it she said, "Ah, he's bringing me my anniversary gift." They were both so blooming cute! Simple.... but just right! Perfect! Gotta love it! A frosty, who would have "thunk" it!

Sort of reminds me of the time I met Donny Osmond. OH MY WORD, that was a thrill I will NEVER forget. Praise the Lord!!

You gave me a great laugh this morning! God is so gracious...even in an airport early in the morning, He still finds time to reach down from Heaven and give us gifts that are uniquely suited to us. I love it!

What did Keith say?

Having gone through many of your studies and read your books I know without a doubt that you will roll your eyes and say, "Honey there is now way on earth you could have been more confused." as you read the next sentence. I am thankful that God has once again reminded me that you are not supernatural, that while you are a child of God, and annointed by His Grace you are not able to walk on water.(unless you are carried in the arms of our Lord)
I was thrilled to read about your airport sightings and about your reaction.
I am from Kentucky and yes, I do bleed blue. Sorry that I don't know who the hunting celebrity that you noticed was but I certainly know the Wildcat family from Kentucky, we are as thick as thieves.

Oh MamaBeth thanks for sharing, it makes me feel like less of a goof for getting all squirrelly about wanting to meet you at SSMTC.

I wasn't one of the lucky ones to meet you on Friday and didn't know if there would be a chance on Saturday, so I asked a question during the Q&A time.

The first thing I said was "I love you, Mama," because I wanted you to know, even if it had to be in front of 500 other people.

The ironic part was, when I asked you the question, I was so wound up about it all that I have absolutely no idea what your answer was.

Praying for you and everything in Tucson!

Love it! Of course I'm one of the ones whose going to have to go and google "Duck Commander." But I still love it. :)

That brings up an interesting question. I'm always thinking if I see someone I know from "tv, radio, authors, whatever" is it bothersome to ask them for a picture? How do you feel when you're asked in the airport, at a restaurant, etc? Because I certainly would want someone to feel comfortable to blend in and relax - but know there may come a time when I am just beside myself (as you were today) and want to record the moment for all eternity.

You are absolutely hillarious Mrs. Beth! This just totally made my day because it is so totally YOU. :) I had to reply today not just because of your post - which my dad used to duck hunt when we lived in Alaska...some 30+ years ago - but because I just finished the Fruit of the Spirt study last night.

After I left class I seriously had to go for a drive (I have 2 teenagers that bug me all the time...lol) before I went home as I was totally in awe of how He works in our lives. I haven't felt that "total awe" in a long time to the point I was just totally thanking Him with prayer during the hour drive I took to get back home. There were times I just could not speak because it was so profound. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. You're truly awesome "my mentor" - Ms. Beth.

So, I did exactly what you said, Beth, and googled him (my dad makes duck calls so I thought he'd be proud of me reading up on a duck hunter). Funny thing is that the story I was reading about Willie involved him having knee surgery and going out on a hunt on crutches right after that. I found myself laughing because I had just got done reading the other day your story of sitting in paper shorts and heels waiting for your own knee to be looked at. I'm trying to picture him in those paper shorts when he first went in about his knee and it's cracking me up! : )

You're too funny! Don't have a clue who the duck commander is (sorry, Keith!) but I'm green with envy over the "IN-N-OUT"!!! That's my favorite CA. restaurant.

If this weekend is going to be anything like the 'bringin' you did on Tuesday night-Tucson better be ready! I'm still playing it over in my head and heart. No kidding, you spoke right to me!

Aren't people in the airports fascinating! Love to watch everyone.

Thanks Google! Now I know who the commanders are....interesting! Now Beth, do you and Keith ever watch Veterans Outdoors? They're a group of young men that give some wounded Veterans the hunting trip of a lifetime. (It's on very early on Saturday mornings, we tape it!) But it's awesome to see what's being done for these guys.

Have a great weekend!

You are the greatest inspiration I have ever had! I love to hear how God loves you in your obedience to Him. Thanks so much for sharing that duck story, even though I had no idea who he was till I googled him!

I'll be praying for you this weekend - what a honor to do so!

That is FANTASTIC! On the way to our honeymoon, Brian and I got to meet to professional wrestlers that he enjoyed watching. Another time, when I was traveling alone, I met "The Big Show". Of course, he was flattered that I knew who he was...enough so to take a picture with me twice! The first time, my camera didn't have any film in it, so I tracked him down for a second shot!

Beth, we go to church with Willie Robertson...and he is an awesome character! His dad, Phil Robertson, aka THE Duck Commander is one of the most unbelievable sharers of the gospel and God's word that I have ever heard ..... both of you have such a special way of sharing the truth .... may you both continue to be BOLD and BLESSED!(would love to see you speak together ... you 2 would be a hoot!)

I just have to say, I enjoy your blog so much. I love your Bible studies but I think I love this blog more. It's so nice to have someone like you really and truly care about the people. I'm sure other authors do also but you actually take the time to reach out to all of us. You have just become my new favorite person. Thanks for being so real.

Beth, I have already commented on this once today, but I want to confess to you what I honestly thought when I first saw this picture........that yet again the Lord asked you to do something for Him in an airport.......and that was to comb this mans beard or hair! I also thought at first he looked like Tim Allen's side kick that wore the red checkered flannel shirts on Home Improvements. And yes, I too googled Duck Commanders. LOL!! Love you Beth,
In His Grip, Mary
