Spring Break, Anyone?

Hey, you Darling Siestas! Just a really quick post this morning. I bet a ton of you are on Spring Break this week. What are you guys doing for it?

The Houston schools are all out this week and we were supposed to have a week off from Bible study but remember that Tuesday night when I told you the whole city shut down over 17 flakes? Well, tonight's our make-up week so that we can end on schedule. That's fine with me though. I trust that God is going to bring us a neat group tonight even if it's a small group.

CJ and AJ and the kids are at a high school camp right now in East Texas where he's teaching and she's...well...trying to entertain two small children during the day and trying to get them both to sleep at night in the same small room as their parents. The first night was pretty challenging because Annabeth is old enough to stand up in the pack-n-play and scream bloody murder for her mommy - three feet away from her - to come rescue her. And, about the time she gets quiet, Jackson is big enough to blurt out with things like, "Did Annabeff finally go to sleep?" and rouse her up again. He's a party animal like his Bibby and LOVES all of them sleeping in the same room.

But, the Jones are troopers and, after all, the week is filled with so many fun things. Amanda is with one of her very best buddies from the Dallas-Fort Worth area where they served for several years. I was so happy for the Jones to move back to Houston but so sad to see AJ leave some of the best friends she'd ever made. For moms, I don't know if there's any replacing the friends you had when you all started your families. Several of those friends are still in my life and we talk about those days all the time. I will hear many good Janelle and Ella stories when the Jones get home. Janelle is one of Amanda's BFFs and her darling Ella was born within the same few days as Jackson and in the same hospital so she is really special to us. She also made us want a little girl the second time around in the worst way.

Melissa is working like a mad woman on her thesis and her other classes this semester so she can be finished with this second Masters in May. I don't even have to tell you that she's chasing her tail. She's coming in town this weekend for a wedding and I have to work over part of it but I'll still enjoy her like crazy when we get to be together.

Good grief! I've got to get off of here. My handout for tonight is not finished. I just wanted to say good morning to you guys and see who was doing something out of the ordinary for Spring Break. Finances are tight this year so many of our Siestas are probably trying to get pretty creative on Stay-cations. Give each other some great ideas!

PS. For those of you who followed the comments to the last post, did you see that the young mom who collapsed into the coma has awakened and talked some? Praise You, Lord! Raise her up a living, breathing, walking, talking MIRACLE!

My family is skiing along with two other families in Angel Fire New Mexico. There are 12 of us total and we arrived last night after a 11 hour drive from west Texas. We are having a blast. We are all church buddies. Two of us are in the middle of Breaking Free and we were sitting at the table late last night with our Bibles and books. We will ski today and tomorrow and head home Thursday. Hope everyone has a great Spring Break!!!

Working. However, in May I will be getting some time off with my sweet husband. No big plans. But that's okay with me. sometimes rest and a good book and good cup of coffee are the perfect get-away. We will just sit on our porch and pretend we have gone some place far-away. :)

Blessings to you all

Hi Mama Beth and Siestas;

We are not going anywhere this year. Our oldest daughter, sophomore in college, is having 2 of her wisdom teeth surgically removed tomorrow. She will be on IV sedation and she does not do well with anesthesia.

Prayers are appreciated.

My husband is on a business trip this week, and I packed up and joined him. A swanky resort type place that's just beautiful. And a place we'd never go except for times like this. I work out of my home office, so the chance to get away for 2 days is refreshing. So thankful for the time of rest!

Our girls' Spring Break is the week after Easter. Speaking of darling baby girls, I'm hoping and praying to get a chance to meet my sweet niece Mia (my baby sister's first baby) down in South Carolina that week. She was born on February 3, and I haven't seen her yet. It's killing me!

Here's a tip for Amanda that I've used many times when trying to get toddlers to sleep in a pack-n-play in the same room:
Using a sheet or blanket you can partition off the pack-n-play by draping the sheet over a curtain rod, closet door, desk, chairs, etc. If the child can't see Mommy 3 feet away she's less likely to call for her (at least in my experience.) It makes a mini-bedroom for the toddler.

Hope that helps!

I'm still in college, so this was my second to last Spring Break as a college student. (Since I'm going into Elementary Ed, I know that this isn't my second to last Spring Break ever though!) =) I road-tripped home (1000 miles away from my college) and got to spend the week with my family. From the house, we all road-tripped out to the Grand Canyon. One of my favorite Spring Break's too date! Oh my word, is it beautiful!!

My spring break trip came in January! Best "spring" break ever getting to come to Houston! I so appreciate my hubby and kids for giving up their spring break trip to allow me to do that.
Looking forward to a week of togetherness at home. My hubby teaches and this year he has the same break as the kids! We are so blessed.
Love and prayers to all.

staying at home but working in my roses and getting their beds "spiffed" up. Also, working in the yard, getting my front porch all ready for some quality time in the swing, AND painting my kitchen and breakfast nook.....I was inspired to make the change when we were previously talking about being movers or non-movers. :) This season is my most favorite time of the year so I'm thrilled to be busy at getting everything ready.

Our kids are out of the house, but we still do spring break around here because my husband is an instructor at the local community college. Our spring break is a little work sandwiched between spending time with our kids, and it's always a good break when we get to see them. Looks like they still rule spring break! :)

I just came home from my Spring Break with our new grandbaby! We were blessed to be with our son & DIL when she was born and I stayed an extra week to help her teach her new mommy and daddy how to help her! Teaching wasn't necessary tho--I've never been more proud of my son and his God-given heart for this little princess! He had 'swaddling' down with the first try!! He jumped right in and changed her first dirty diaper. I'm still grinning!

See you tonight at Bible Study-can't wait!

Our spring break was last week, and my husband and I pulled our camper 100 miles west of us to Lake Conroe for 5 days of reading, studying SLI and learning lines for a community play I am in. Also shopping for mother-of-the-groom dress for son's wedding. Had a nice, restful time and hope all the rest of you will do the same this week.

Spring Break for our kids is not for another two weeks.... We had hoped we would be able to go to the beach for a couple of days, but hubby and I looked at finances last night and decided that we can't swing that right now. We'll take a couple of days off work and do some fun things around town, but will also do some gardening and spring cleaning. Riveting, I know - LOL!!! Oh, and our kids have a ping pong table stored in the garage that they have been pestering hubby to move into playroom on the third floor of the house. That sounds like quite an adventurous task to tackle over spring break!

Love and hugs,

Well, my spring break is not until Good Friday and then runs that week after Easter. I am a special ed. teacher and I am looking forward to REST! Watched you on video last night (revised breaking free) and you talked about rest and how we need to trade our yokes for Jesus's yoke. The message just really, really spoke to me about the importance of rest. So, besides resting here at home I'll for sure be taking a day trip to the coast to spend time with Jesus. This area is much, much, much needed. Feeling a little fried right now. Hoping that a little "retreat" with Him will help.

Since my girls are raised and have fled the nest, I am spending Spring Break praying for the youngest one as she is on vacation with 20 kids in California! I'm also enjoying the extra time to soak up all I'm learning in Breaking Free (week 9) and chapter 9 of So Long Insecurities. Is it a a coincidence that the peak lessons of both of those came on the same week? NO! I am praising the Lord that He privileged me to be working through those at the same exact time and that I have this week off to really work through them to shake off insecurity and break free forever! Isn't He amazing? :)

Spring Break for my family is nutso this year. My oldest 2 had theirs last week. My youngest 3 will have theirs next week. And dare I say so will their mother who is taking a college Stats class. Oh, and dad will have vacation next week as well. The older boys and I got out and did some nature walks, shopping (but you know with teen boys that didn't take long!), and eating out at a new place. It was slow paced but fun. Next week my plan is to take the young ones to the zoo in Memphis. My professor just announced we'd have our next test the Monday AFTER Spring Break. Now what was he thinking?!!!? SO. Given that this one class is putting my 40+ brain to task, I will also have to study. And, oh yeah, I will have to pull at least one 12 hour shift at the hospital. Then also, DH will be pouring concrete for a large addition we are somehow trying to afford, I mean get done! lol! (I will be grateful when this season is over.)

That's my crazy Spring Break in a nutshell.

Here's my memory verse for the 15th of this month, thought someone else might benefit from this Word today as well. With it, I'll sign off. Blessings!

I am continuing the time honored tradition of using this time to deep clean the house. My men children and I spent four hours yesterday washing the walls in their room and the baseboards, as well as going through clothes and toys. Today we tackle the living room and bathrooms. The goal...make them appreciate school:) Or so my mom says when she revealed to us that was the motive behind it for all those years. Sneaky mama...sneaky mama.

One of the benefits of being away at college is that your parents expect you to make the trip home for Spring Break... so that's kind of a vacation in itself. It has been a blessing to spend some time back at my home church, and of course, getting to enjoy time with my parents. And let's not forget about a few quiet mornings which give me time to catch up on my SLI reading!

Praying everyone finds rest somewhere this week!

We thought we were getting a break and spring was around the bend, but alas! More snow here! Since we had a very long break from our school routine for this move, we're plugging away- it keeps us busy while we wait for our own things to arrive. I'm anxious, though, for things to warm up- we live very close to the Botanical Gardens and when the cherry trees bloom, you get the most beautiful view of them, the river, and the monastery.

My oldest daughter is home on spring break this week from college. My other 3 daughters have school this week so we are having a "stay-cation" here. But we are doing a lot of baking, talking and some "chick-flicking". My daughte brought her bff home with her and they are visiting the zoo today and throwing in some shopping at the Mall.

Usually we load up the pop-up camper at spring break and head for the mountains. We bring a stack of books, and yes... the portable DVD player. How else can I catch up on the movies I've missed?

I love it. Got my coffee maker, microwave, gas stove, and lap top. You know... really roughing it. All in the great outdoors. All for $25 a day.

Bless you all,
Heidi

Well, I'm in Australia so it's not spring...it's fall. I'm at school at Hillsong and we are in the midst of Colour Conference. First one was last weekend and the next starts on Thursday! However, the enemy is using a nasty sickness to try and keep me uninvolved - so prayers for healing would be appreciated!

Spring Break for us is divide and conquer this year. One is on a road trip with her Daddy from LA, ARK, TN and back to TX looking at colleges all week. One is with a friend (at her friend's Grandma's house) in the TN countryside. So... that leaves the youngest and myself dealing with the contractors at our new house all week. However, we will be seeing Papa and Mama tonight after Tues. night Bible study and spending the night with them. How I love spending time at my house I grew up in. And then, some staycation. It's been fun just to hang with the youngest. Usually I'm crazy busy with all of the girls' social calendars and don't have much alone time with her. We have laughed our heads off more than once. So...I'm having a GREAT spring break:o)

I know it is only Tuesday, but so far they have been fabulous! I recently taught my 3 year old daughter that it makes Jesus happy when we are nice to each other, and he is sad when we fight with each other. This morning she said, "Is Jesus happy, cause Lukey(her little brother) and I are being so nice!" AND THEY HAVE BEEN! Thank you Jesus for loving, thoughtful, sharing spirits today!

Working over Spring Break. (But oh so thankful for a job!) In April, though, my husband has given me the gift of 6 days away by myself at my brother's home in North Carolina (my brother and his wife are in Europe). They generously share their home with us when they're away. I get 6 days of quality time with the Lord, before my husband drives out to pick me up. Oh, I can't wait! I know the first minute I shut the door and know I'm alone with Him, I'll start to cry!! It's been too long since I spent quality Solitude and Silence time with Him -- the world is so busy, I can't hear His voice! Solitude and Silence is a lot of work -- I pray I can concentrate. Thank you, Lord, for this precious gift!!!

I am reading Beth's new book, "So Long Insecurity" for my Spring Break Stay-Cation. I can't put it down. Girlfriends, this is a must read!! I'm only on the 5th chapter and God is already using it to bring major healing in my life. Just knowing that Beth Moore struggles with this thing too. WoW!! In the first few pages she describes an experience having to do with rattlesnakes that is almost exactly like a moment I had last summer. In fact I blogged about it at.... http://www.kelli-kelliscorner.org/search/label/Facing%20Fears--%20Snakes
She writes, "I got a dichotomous glimpse of myself while trudging down a rocky path, dodging thorns. I had my headphones on and my ipod blaring. My left hand, complete with wedding ring and fresh manicure, was up in the air, praising God, and my right hand was down by my side, gripping a shotgun. I know how to load it. I know how to use it. I grinned, shook my head, and thought to myself, how on earth did this happen?" All I can say is YOU GO GIRL. Thanks for allowing God to use your ministry to speak straight to my heart through this amazing book!!

I always take off at a different time than the school's S.B. so that we can avoid the crowds.

We kicked off Spring Break with a youth activity (Guys went on a camp-out in Centerville and Girls had a lock-in at Student Ministry Building). So, Larry and I came home sleep deprived, but were greeted by our exhausted sitter and 4 refreshed and super-excited boys.

The rest of the week is for our family! Larry still has to work at the church throughout the week. However, we have planned lots of fun stuff and places to go. One of our guys' favorites is Battleship Texas on the way home from Kemah. Of course, Larry loves it also!

In my province school finishes later in the year so we have a 2 week spring break we are in the middle of right now. We are a stay-cation family, so to spice things up we are:
- using the digital camera everday and making a photo album of everyday trips (going to the bookstore, the park etc)
- Spring cleaning where everyone has a job, keeping track of progress on a big chart and having a pizza party at the end followed by sundaes. The more stars on your chart the more toppings you get
- emailing/snailmailing one friend or family member per day to tell them how much we love them
- we did a 2 week menu plan together and are letting the kids help even more with supper, the 8, 10, 11 year olds are coooking almost the whole meal on their nights
That's some of the things we are doing. I work from home, so the kids still need to entertain themselves a fair bit. Since we don't have tv or a childrens computer, they should finish a lot of books, and play outside until the backyard grass is set back by a months worth of growth. :)

Staycation? Never heard of that! But it's just what we did this year - and our three kids had fun learning to snowboard right out our back door down a distinctly steep hill and out onto the frozen lake ("Mom! It's SO much fun!!)

Hearing that Jackson calls Annabeth, "Annabeff" just cracked me up and reminded me of what my oldest (4 years old at the time) would call his little siblings. Two year old Noah was "Oah" and baby Lily was "Wiwly" and he was "Bobaz" - when in truth it's Boaz.

Oh. Those were happy days and sleepless nights! Amanda, you have my thoughts and prayers this week!

One day they'll be out back snowboarding (...well, maybe not in Houston) and you'll be wondering where the time went!

Warm in "Awaska".

My little girls, 4 and 5, are home this week from their 3 days a week preschool because of spring break. At first, I'll be honest, I was dreading it a bit, because my husband has had a huge work load and I have been doing all the parenting. BUT we have had the best time together. Hanging in our pajamas, making pancakes, making a cake for my husband, watching Barbie movies together and playing with playdoh. I love them so much. I am so thankful for this time with them. Praise God for my little girls!!!!

I have always wanted to be a grandmama ... and having a granddaughter ... makes me cry with joy! Our other son told his brother that he did not have to worry about coming up with a name ... just call her Princess! :) I have been pondering all your precious times with Jackson and Annabeth ... can't wait until she is big enough to dance!

My baby girl had her first baby 2 weeks ago..so we are missing them this year, but so very thankful for baby Silas' arrival and that he is healthy and they are doing great! Loved being awaken this morning to cries for a bottle from 10 month old Wesley and being able to give it to him and let his mom sleep. Got him back down and layed back down myself and then had my 2 year old and 5 year old come crawl in with me... nothing better! Enjoying very minute until my house goes back to an empty nest later this week!

lots of love,

Here in our neck of the woods the school kids have lost some of their spring break days due to this years more than expected snow.
I too remember the pack-and-play days. My baby girl, who is now 8, did the exact same thing as Annabeth. You would have thought that thing was a midieval torture device!!!

Hi Beth, It's so great to read about Amanda's camp adventures with little ones in tow. It made me smile because I think we've all been there :) Please keep me in your prayers this week. While my daughter is on a mission trip for her spring break, I'll be having tests done for similar problems for what you just went through. Please pray that all will be benign and that God will give me many more years of mothering. Please know too that I am at peace, for Jesus has walked me through many hardships in life and He is my everything! Wish I could be at your Bible study tonight, but I'm enjoying beautiful sunny skies in Atlanta. I have my spiral close in hand, and I'll always remember my Siesta time at your home church in January.

With love,

Good morning! :)

My kids aren't on spring break until the week following Easter--it's just how they do it here in Michigan! Although, I am a college student as well, and my spring break was last week! I spent the week running my three children where they needed to be and just spending time with them because I'm usually studying when I'm not working. (Life is a little crazy right now...but I counted the cost of it all when I decided to become a college student in my late 30's.)
My husband was in NYC on business all week last week, and it worked out splendidly because I was home! God is good.

I am looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta next month! I'm meeting up with some of my most special siestas who've become my dearest friends. I have three major papers to write before then, so it'll be extremely busy until then!

Enjoy your home girls tonight!
Much love,

Sweet Beth - once again, your timing is amazing. Because, I actually have a little prayer request that may involve spring break.
See, my little family and I are renting a house. The house has, let's say, moisture issues. And NOW the house has mold. Needless to say we cannot stay here and are on the hunt for a new house to rent.
The possibility of a move is already causing anxiety for my sweet 6yo daughter. She is high functioning autistic and is not a fan of change in any form. However, relocating her HOME is not just any change.
Please pray that A: we are able to find a home to rent where she will not have to change schools, and B: we can find it soon. Our goal (this is the part that involves Spring Break) was to move over that week so she would have time to settle in and get comfortable before going back to school. Spring Break is just a few short weeks away now, so we are getting anxious. Plus, our lease here is up at the end of April.

I know this was long, thank you for your patience and thank you for your prayers!

XOXOXOXO
Becky Jo

Hanging here in Dallas with the kids this week...I've got a birthday in the house and we will celebrate that with excitement...My oldest is 12, how did he get that old?

We are going to see the tabernacle exhibit here in town on Friday, so that will be a highlight!

That same day I may go to a certain person's book signing with my kids *wink wink* They will love it!

Tonight though I lead the Daniel study, we are on week 8! There is a lady in there *non-believer* who is seeking to find who God is...she has done ever bit of homework! I mean Daniel is hard for a believer who has years of learning, she is doing it though! We just found out that she meets with Jehovah's Witnesses as well, we are praying the Truth be evident!!

Hope you have a wonderful study tonight!

Going to the BEACH! Two girlfriends and I are renting a house at Fort Morgan, AL and I am taking my two black labs with us. The sight and sound of the ocean is so soothing and gives me catharsis time, since losing my husband last August. The three of us are in an Emmaus reunion group and get together regularly to talk and munch and share a glass of wine (yes, really) and pray. I have also been caregiving for my 86-year-old-mom for the last two months, so I am looking forward to relaxing, taking long walks with the dogs on the beach and hearing what the Lord has to say to me in this time.

Spring Break is kind of wasted on me even though I am in Jr. College. I work full -time so my stay-cation is here. Although, with the time change and the rediculous weather...I get to walk the beach at 6pm (unheard of in the fall) and watch the sun glitter on the waves, like silver frosting. I am not much of a beach person, but I have to say, when you stare out at the open water and the sun and clouds dancing around it naturally, it takes my breath away. GOD's creation is just, well that...GOD's CREATION!
And man, is HE an artist! I couldn't help but spill a few tears the other night. Just stunns me!
Have a great week everyone <><

Our home school will take a break at Easter because this PW has a lot to do around that week. All that to say the two still at home are doing some school this week. My two oldest are away at college and neither has break now. About the only thing different this week is the high school senior/college student turned 18 today. Hubby and I were reflected on her birth and grateful for her. Please pray for that sweet girl she's got a migraine today. (What a crummy way to spend a birthday.)

Our spring break is next week, so I am trying to control 21 3rd graders during the day and keep up at home during the evenings. My husband just started a new job with crazy hours and varying days off, so I am feeling the stress. I am trusting the Father that this is a good thing for our family!

Since finances are tight, we will stay home for most of spring break. March 26-27 I am taking our daughter and youngest son to Plainview, TX, so she can register for fall classes. She turns 18 while we are there!! Barlowe Girls will be in concert on Friday night and the kids are excited. It won't be a family outing, since our middle son and our dad will stay home and work.

I was on Spring Break last week, and it actually felt kind of spring-y which was nice considering that we've had just about as much snow as anybody this far south can stand.

We actually ended up going on an overnight trip so a family member could see some out of town doctors. That doesn't sound like much fun, except that actually it kind of was. You know you're in need of a vacation when two doctors' appointments and a night in the Holiday Inn totally make your week!

P.S. Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day!

I'm on my own journey traveling with Abram and Sarai at the moment. We've just left Egypt to get back to the promised land where we should be. Thus far, it's been an interesting road that we've traveled. Hmmmm..... makes you wonder where all that we wander when our stomachs are famished?! Right now my stomach wants unneeded food.... my legs are ansty to move toward the kitchen... where surely God has spoken to me earlier and told me, 'Sharon, you need to GET THEE OUT of that fridge and fill your hunger with the manna of My Word instead of that fattening thing that surely won't satisfy you!'

I love how the Lord still speaks... and even sometimes with humor!

Stay-cation for us, but being in the ministry that can be tough (I keep telling hubbie he doesn't have to answer the cell, if it's an emergency they can leave a message & he can get right back to them!). We finally took the Christmas mini flag off the stand in the front yard & the "Let it Snow" wreath off the front door - major accomplishments, ha ha.

Movie watching, game playing, some long-put off household chores...but the important part is we'll do it TOGETHER!

I'm a homeschooling mama of 5 girls and last week was our spring break. I spent it finishing up painting a bedroom that will be for hubby and me. Then Sunday, hubby left for Romania with a group of men from our church to help complete a project at our sister church in Pitesti (about an hour west of Bucharest). The team will be installing a brick paver patio and retaining wall in the backyard of the church. Hubby will be home 3/24. It's a long 10 days without him, but I'm so excited that he went and he is too. Now if I can keep it together until he comes home. When he's gone, I miss the second pair of hands and the help that he is to me.

Gotta get back to our lessons.

Needless to say, my husband and I want him to have a summer vacation, so we won't be having spring break. In May we will have break. We will be taking our son to Williamsburg, VA, and while we are there will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. That will be special! God was really with me as I lead these ladies. It was so wonderful to see the ladies share their thoughts and prayers. They stood shoulder to shoulder wtih each other. I used the leader's guide and it was a big help. Thank you, Lord and thank you Beth!
Our next Bible study is Esther. I have watched the DVD's and finishing up the workbook as well.
It is a hugh project and I will need lots of work with prayer. It is so exciting to learn what God has next for me and others to learn. I can hardly wait for the next thing to come along. I love it!
I always wondered why we could learn what the preacher's learn at school...it should would help.
Another Baptist church is also doing Beth Moore Bible studies so we had a extra workbook we are giving them, so they can do Stepping Up too. We are getting ready to have a church brunch and we have invited churches in the area to bring their ladies and join us. I can hardly wait!! God is Wonderful!

I like the "stay-cation" thing. It's the only thing I've ever known. *smile* I am very much a homebody and so is my husband. I desperately want a family vacation though and my man does what his Dad did with them....take them on "work" trips. At least they got to go to Florida! I keep looking for a beach and the ocean in Atlanta and I just can't seem to find it. Right now, my only prayer is the salvation of my two children (9 and 8, boy and girl) and for my man to fall in love with the Jesus that he says he knows. I know God will answer my prayer. Sometimes I fall into the lie that I am as alone as I feel but then I pray and pull out my spirals and His Word fills my mind... Praise Him!
I loved what Rhonda said about spring cleaning with her 4 man-children...to make them appreciate school. he he ha ha...
We do a fair share of that ourselves! I love you Bibby and all the Siesta's on here. I covet your prayers and I am lifting you all in prayer as well.

I'm a student with Liberty Online and we have our spring break this week. My son was out of school a few days last week and will be out again around Easter - so you can see, it would've been hard to plan a trip. BUT...I welcome the time off to get my spring cleaning done. We'll be going to Tybee Island for my cousin's wedding in April, so we're looking forward to a weekend getaway soon.

We had a big road trip last week with the kiddos from Colorado where we live to Tucson, AZ to see Grandparents. We went down through Santa Fe and visited the old church with the miracle staircase, learned a lot about the desert/ saw petroglyphs and came home through the reservations - lots of education! (for my husband and me anyways!) Kids just remembered bike riding, finding the stick bug, the lizard my daughter picked up (that's my girl!) and all the jackrabbits we saw at night! We had a lot of fun and best of all, I read the first eight chapters of your book and I'm finally caught up with the group - yeah!

Like many of you, my kids are at different schools so their breaks don't coincide. Whenever I feel "jipped" out of a vacation I think I had coming, I try to do something I perceive to be "vacationy". For me that means putting all the leaves in my dining room table and quarentining half of it for a jigsaw puzzle. Pretty corny, I know, but it seems to have the desired effect of making me feel relaxed. Of course, I have to allow myself to actually work on the puzzle guilt-free. Last time I did this my teenage daughter and her friends ended up finishing the puzzle for me. Little did they know that was part of my evil plan all along :)
Happy staycation from your nerdy siesta!

I am home in Middle Georgia and this is the least amount of "break" I've ever had. I've got tons of homework, but of course I'm putting THAT off to relax in the sunshine!
Tomorrow night is youth where my friends will be sharing their testimonies from an incredible experience with God four years ago. If you're around & want to come - send me an email!!
I'm also just taking some time out to paint and catch up on this dear book. =) Yep, I have a copy now - thanks to a beautiful siesta. seeing Adonai move is grand. :)

Our Spring Break plan for next week is to redeem the Christmas gift we gave to our son, our daughter & son-in-law and our 22 month old granddaughter: A week of skiing and relaxing in Breckenridge, CO.
I am not the avid skier that the rest of my family is, so I plan to spend much of my week simply enjoying my wonderful granddaughter, catching up on
So Long Insecurity and its discussions and just enjoying the simple beauty of God's wonderful creation.

This is our 1st spring here in North America & we're just spending the spring break at home.
So much is different in this land of abundance from Kenya, where we come from back in Africa.
As we've just started to go out on long walks since the winter,I see the shoots spring up from the ground. It kind of reminds me of God's power & goodness springing up from our hearts, sometimes frozen & hardened by the winters of life. Like what God is doing in us through SLI.

Beth....just wanted to let you know what "happened" after I read your book. I didn't know just how long I had struggled with insecurity or all the ways that it was controlling my life. I've got a long way to go--but I'm getting there! I started applying the principles in the book and realized that I am a terrific 52 year old woman and I can do much with my life. :) In fact, I'm leaving in 2 weeks to do something I've wanted to do for many years, but never felt that I "could" do. I'm planning to hike the lower 1/2 of the Appalachian Trail. And I'm going alone. There will be other hikers on the trail, but I'm going by myself. I am so excited. I can do this. I am worth the money we spent on my supplies and I have a terrific husband who is so excited by the "new" wife he has, that he is encouraging me to go. God and I are going to have a terrific few months together. The hike is just over 1000 miles, I'll be going from Georgia to Pennsylvania. I never dreamed that I could do this! But God and I together can do anything! Thanks Beth!

My sweet babies are also helping out, it is such a blessing to see them helping out at church (even though they get alittle cranky about it!)

I don't have spring break as a homeschooling mom of four, but I'll tell you some of our sneaky Stay-cation ideas we use during the summer. We invite the buddies over and have "game" night. Depending upon the age group that day, we play some Monopoly, the Wii, Boggle, etc... We typically grill and the kids LOVE it! We also hit the library for free movies and they don't know the difference. (if they do, they don't care! lol) For my youngest, who's six and a girl, her girly buddies have "spa" day. Fingernails are painted, toenails are splendid and eyelids are any shade from hideous blue to eye popping orange and they think they're in hog heaven.(my grandma used that term...please excuse it as I'm fully Southern ladies!)

You can also pile into the car and hit a park. My kids and their pals like this, too. Frisbee is a favorite of the teenager (he's 15) and his friends. We've even taken a portable grill and had hotdogs down there. The little ones will take a thing of bubbles and you'd think I'd discovered some kind of gold they love 'em so much! Another cheap way to have fun is the old pass time of horseshoes. Most of the kids have never played, and even the "good" sets are fairly inexpensive.

The biggest benefit? Having the opportunity to bring the Lord up to these kids and know they are hearing you because they respect you. Spending time with our kids friends has made us the "popular" parents and also given us real moments for God to reveal Himself to these precious kids through us. I'm forever grateful for that.

Have fun over spring break siestas! I pray you have lovely weather, fun times and God moments that just slay you!

Amen, may our Lord heal the precious young mother and restore her to her family fully healthy.

Beth, thanks for thinking of us and your on going ministry. I also pray Amanda to have a wonderful and peaceful time with her family and friends with some sleep to go along with it! I adore having the opportunity to share in a small part of your wonderful daughters' journey, they do reflect their mother and father's gift and commitment to generational healing. You are an inspiration, my dear- I just cancelled my trip with my husband this week due to financial issues- not sure the issues have anything to do with the economy- but I am having to hold tight to "HOPE", something is wrong in "Dodge" and I may be witnessing a crack in the foundation of my marriage and/or the emotional health of my husband- it is late in life and I pray God will give me a "peak" into what he is doing in this unexpected crisis- when do the major crises end? Have a blessed study tonight.

Hello Sweet Friend:

I am actually off work during Spring Break, and our break is the week before Easter, March 29-April 2. We are going to Savannah, GA for our pastors/wives retreat the first part of the week, then back home Wednesday. We cannot miss choir rehearsal heaven forbid!!!
The choir has to prepare for Easter Sunday! I can't wait for the special worship my sweet minister man has planned.

Then the last of the week I hope to get some gardening done. I am going to have a vegetable garden this year - and I always have my flower beds to get ready. My daylilies, snapdragons, hydrangeas and roses are all putting out new growth even now!

Come see me and we can fish in the catfish pond!

And I hope to read, read, read, and will enjoy some quiet mornings with coffee and the Lord - not bound by the clock!

Much love to you Beth and family,

Well, you already know that I started spring break by nearly losing my mind! Today has been much better. In fact, the kids cleaned their rooms and Jeremiah did the dishes (is it too much to ask for more of the same for the rest of vacation?) Right now they're at the park with daddy with bats and balls and gloves and doing whatever else they like to do at the park. I hope they stay gone a while, so I can finish up on here and maybe actually get to my Chapter nine lesson. I just have so much to catch up on! Last week, they all got the stomach flu or I'd probably already be done. I knew I was going to need it done for this week, so planning on it Thursday last week and then 3 a.m. Thursday morning, probably before you even posted the new assignment, Jeremiah woke up throwing up, and shortly afterward Chloe came in my room to tell me her tummy hurt. Later on that day I got a phone call from school that I needed to pick up Angela because she was throwing up. I've never seen my oldest two that sick in my life. Chloe never got quite as sick as they did, thank God! Poor things. This flu was so bad that two days earlier when Josh (my husband) got it, we thought it was food poisoning! It wasn't until that Thursday morning we knew it wasn't. Good thing Josh got it first so I didn't rush the kids to the hospital thinking they were dying!

By the way, the anonymous siesta that talked about being jealous of other siestas getting comments from you? I know the feeling, although, I've told myself a million times it's stupid. Like you could possibly read all the thousands of comments that come in! No way! So, good to know none of us are being intentionally ignored or something! Of course, I was pretty convinced of it before, but having a hard time convincing my heart. Like she said, don't let it stop you from commenting. Just me always feeling invisible up here in little north idaho! Oh, God, please don't let that noise outside be my kids coming home! Praise God for husband's who know when you need them taken away for a while!

Working puzzles, memorizing Scriptures (which is our family Lent celebration), playing games, and rescuing doves from our bird-dog. We used washable markers to draw mustaches and tattoos on our kiddos today for something fun because it is cold and rainy weather. They ran to the bathroom mirror ever couple of minutes just to laugh at themselves. We baked cookies, played some Wii games, and scrubbed our tiles floors, old-school, which was a great work-out!

Bible Study Tapes" and I have been thinking I would call my Pastor's wife and loan them to her so that she could lead a bible study. But I keep looking skyward and saying "Lord, are you kidding me?"
Cuz I feel He's leading me to do it! Do you have any idea how far out of my comfort zone that is?!
Good thing I'm reading So Long Insecurity Huh? Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son (25) who teaches orchestra in the Round Rock school district came home, my daughter (19) who is at TTU came home, my son (22) lives at home goes to MSU and my husband is on vacation. I, of course, am working. But, on Friday, we will all be headed to Midland to help my parents celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. WOW 50 years is a long time. Congrats to them.

I am just finding this blog. Love it. And you, Beth. Our ladies group is studying Esther. What a blessing it has been. Our family has been and is going through some troubled times. I ask that my newly found Siestas pray for us. I know that God is in control. It is hard to wait for answers!! God is using the study of Esther to give me strength. And blessings. Thank you so much for allowing God to use you. Love you. My spring break is going to be pretty laid back. Much needed time of R & R.

I'm a nursing clinical instructor with 2 weeks off for spring break! Wahoo! My husband does not get a break until Easter however but we will be flying to Alabama (from Ohio) to visit my aunt and her new husband. Looking forward to some warm weather :~) Until then I will be working on homework for graduate school and finishing the Breaking Free Bible study...(I have also read the book and I highly recommend both:) I have also done Esther and Believing God and also just finished So Long Insecurity. The next book I will tackle probably next week is The Beloved Disciple (Because I long to be one!!) I can't get enough of my Jesus and I'm so thankful for some great downtime to spend with him. Enjoy the SONshine all have a blessed day!!

oh, Beth - praising God for the miracle in that woman's life! He is the miracle maker and I rejoice with that family!

A young girl in our church family has been in coma for 32 days after being hit by a car. She is off the vent and breathing on her own, but is still in a coma. THe doctors say she is a miracle at this point. She had serious brain trauma and a brain stem contusion, but the Lord has had His hand upon her so far. Please pray for her! Her name is Chelsea and she is 17 years old.

Love you so!

We planned a ski vacation & then our 16-yr-old son was in a dirtbike accident that split his spleen in two....Emergency surgery last Sat. night...he almost didn't make it....Wow, God did some amazing things...The dr. said today that the hosp. recorded that Rhett had lost 5 liters of blood ~ but he said, "That's impossible - that's all of his blood"....in other words, he wouldn't have made it. Well, we believe in miracles and we believe God answered our desperate prayers for RHett. So, our SPring Break is especially SWEET this year, taking care of him! THANK YOU JESUS!

My mom and I took a road trip. We went to see my son Mat in Jacksonville, Fl where he has been living for the past 6 months. Met his beautiful ladies in his life, Katie and her daughter Lanie. It was an interesting trip. Spent Saturday getting there, Sunday with Mat and Lanie seeing the sights, Monday mom and I had Lanie shopping and then Jacksonville Zoo. Then home today. Back to work Wednesday.

Our Spring Break was last week and after three days of cloud and rain, the last four days were warm and sunny. I spent them outside in my backyard, grinning from ear to ear when I heard our first pairs of purple martins. They warbled and chirped while checking out the "rooms" in the martin houses. Usually, we get them by mid-February, but the cold weather has kept them away longer. Our hummingbirds haven't arrived yet due to the azaleas which haven't bloomed yet. The weather has turned cold again. But that's okay. The longer the cold stays, the colder the Gulf of Mexico gets and that means less chance of hurricanes this summer.

Dear Siestas,
Please pray for my precious daughter. She has her first "grown-up" job and has made some big mistakes. She is a Christian, but the mistakes are huge and could be devastating to her future. Please pray God's protection over her. Satan would like nothing better than to destroy her witness and God's calling on her life.

Thank you so much Siestas!

Hey, Bethie! Bet you thought I fell off the planet... I've just been spending the last several weeks running about as hard and fast as I can go... (I've added a ton of new violin students this semester.)

Spring break for us is next week. I need it! I need to catch up on reading and homework for Breaking Free...and maybe catching up on some of the posts from SLI, too. I haven't had time to even read those! (But I have been staying up to date on the reading... just no time to comment or read the comments.)

Hunky Hubby and I will be hanging out at the house here next week, not doing much of anything, if I have anything to say about it... (I need that time to myself... and I relish it.)

Have fun with Melissa! :)

Spring break in my part of Tampa is the week of March 29. My husband and I (emptynesters) will be going to visit friends in North Carolina and then to our cabin in the mountains for a few days. Right now deep in the new edition of Breaking Free. Just viewed Session 8 video last night at class. I was a student of the first Breaking Free in 1999 (life-changing at a very personal level). Then led it in 2003. Couldn't imagine what it would be like leading it again with the new edition. God bless you Beth for all you have brought to the page and through video lessons. We are all being challenged - discussions powerful and some have realized the need for help outside of class. Prayers needed that healing will come where needed. By the way, looking forward to your coming to Tampa! Take care and God bless you and yours.

Hi Beth and fellow Seiestas
Wow Toronto was AWESOME! Some people that I talked with said that it was the best Christ centred conference they had been to ... right from the worship to the teaching... thank you Beth for providing the opportunity and forum for me to experience God in such a powerful way... Please pray for me that I will continue to have such passion and discipline to seek Him through His Word especially...

Hope you all have a great spring break!

My sweet husband flew my two daughters and two daughters-in-law all the way from Texas to Illinois for us to have "girls' week". We have laughed & danced & played & prayed & shared stories. I'm so very thankful for this gift of godly young women for my sons as well as our own precious daughters. It is a blessing, & I am grateful!!!!

We are in the middle of moving out of this house into an apt until we find the house we want. But had to give the kids some kind of a break from the chaos! (poor babies!)
So we head to Dallas for some shopping, museums, good food and sweet SIL who is always happy to have us! Thank God for family close by to save our spring break to actually be a break!!

Having a staycation; saving money for our honeymoon in August. So exciting...new beginning for me (after 1st marriage of 28 years; many very difficult years). Peter is a Baptist minister and I am thrilled to bits that God has done this amazing thing. Our little church is all invited as well as the Women's Bible Study Group (we're doing Living Beyond Yourself now). I will have a procession of these beautiful women to lead me down the aisle. We've been through alot together and we will celebrate together too.

Beth,
Do you have a Facebook page? There is a page that looks like yours and I was accepted as a friend on it, but it says you are a fan of Ellen Degeneras taking over the world. That does not sound like you. Is it really your page? It has your picture as the profile picture.

My 17 year old son was invited to go on a mission trip to Panama, Central America with a group of wonderful, godly college students just last week. One of these students has become part of our family while he is away from his family, and is my son's "big brother" and mentor. Since I homeschool him, his schedule allowed him to take his spring break on their schedule.
Now, I am waiting to see what seeds God planted in his heart as they begin to take root and grow.

We are leaving in the morning for a long weekend in New York and New Jersey. One of my best girlfriends lives in Connecticut so I get to see her!! She is the one who brought me to my first Beth Moore Bible Study when Kim Hill was the guest artist and it was at the brand new Second Baptist Church out in Katy!! I could't even have imagined the wild ride this would have been!!! God surely knew!!

God is so creative and amazing! My son, husband, and I will all be traveling together so I am looking forward to maybe being able to utter more than just a few syllables to my son. He may even do more than just "grunt" back!!
Did I mention that my only image is 15 years old?!?!?

He is precious and I am one blessed Siesta!!

Prayers for health, rest, and safety over all of my siestas out there!!

Spring Break??? My 17 yr old son tried to slyly slip in a comment the other night... "My friends and I want to go to the (Jersey) shore for Spring break."... and he continued the rest of his conversation. WHAT??? You hear so many horror stories of kids getting into such trouble on these spring break outings, the idea's already spoiled with me. A group of 17 yr olds going for a week UNACCOMPANIED by adults to a beach community?? I don't think so!! Besides, I thought spring break stuff was for seniors! My son's a junior. I thought I still had a year before I had to deal with this. Lord, Help me.

Now, last week, my husband and I spent a gorgeous day at a place north of Philadelphia called "Longwood Gardens." Absolutely the most beautiful day we've seen yet this year! They're having their "Orchid Extravaganza" and we were in such awe! Did you know there are over 3200 species of orchids??!! Isn't God just so amazing?!!!

Now THAT was a spring break!!

Hey sweet Beth ... we are not doing too much this week, as our eyes and wallets are focused (next to the Lord) on Disney at the end of the year! But our youngest daughter, our cancer survivor, turns 10 this week! Yea, God!! When she was 13 months old, I didn't know if she'd live to be two! And here we are turning big, double-digit "10"!! We are meeting our best friends in Abilene to celebrate at Chuck E Cheese. Then we are heading to Wichita Falls ... my former FBC Sunday school director and good friend is having a tea party for the girls on her new Mad Hatter tea table and then we plan to go see Alice in Wonderland together! Fun, Fun!!

I would normally spend my time being busy and loving on my grandson, but God had other plans. His other grandparents asked to spend time with him and I have enjoyed some much needed time with just me and Jesus. I am so thankful for bible study and have been praying that God give me a greater desire to love his word and to have a heart like his. Thank you for serving and for your transparency in sharing your heart. The law of the LORD is prefect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned;in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11
