My Two Favorite Authors Together!

Ladies, I have some very cool news. My two favorite authors are joining up for a "Heart of Texas" book tour on Friday and Saturday. Would you like to guess who they are?

One is our very own Siesta Mama, who will be signing copies of So Long Insecurity. Woo hoo!

The other author is...

...Drum roll please...

Francine Rivers!

Eeeeek! Can you believe it?!?!

I screamed like a little girl when I heard the news.

Mrs. Rivers will be signing copies of Her Mother's Hope, which just released this week.

Here are the details in case you're interested in coming to one of the book signings.

And finally, what's your favorite Francine Rivers book? Mine's the Mark of the Lion series. I wish I could read it all over again for the first time.

Redeeming Love is one of her books I read - some parts of it were hard for me to read, but I love the way it shows how God is persistent in putting people in our path to change our lives. I have people in my life, that have so enriched my spiritual journey - and I had many opportunities to know them sooner; but I made choices that led me a different direction.

I loved the 'Mark of the Lion' series too; the first book is my favorite of the three. And I confess, I tried to read 'Redeeming Love', but I got so annoyed by the way the character "Angel" acted that I just quit reading.... I know it is supposed to be a modern version of Hosea, but I rather just read Hosea in the Bible.

Wish I lived in Houston! I'd be there for the book signing.

Oh I wish I were in Texas! I love both those authors, I ordered Francine River's book and it's on my Kindle already! I'm reading her Lineage of Grace series right now, it really fleshes out the amazing stories of the 5 women in Christ's family - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. I get emotional just thinking about God's grace in allowing each of these flawed and some gentile women into His Son's lineage! And Francine's first novel - Redeeming Love - who doesn't love that book?

But I really loved the Mark of the Lion series as well. I was so struck by the similarities in our cultures. Hadassah would make an interesting study in insecurities don't you think! Francine Rivers is one of my favorite authors! I am sooo excited about her new book. I wish I lived close enough to attend one of the signings. Oh well... It's hard to choose a favorite! I loved the Mark of the Lion series, and also the Lineage of Grace series. And the Shofar Blew, about a minister's rise and fall, is both sobering and thought-provoking.

Have fun!

I am sooooo excited. I am in Dallas for spring break and heading home to Kansas on Saturday. I am planning on attending the book signing. I had a dream Monday night that I ran in to Beth in Dallas. Then I found out she was coming in to town. I purchased my 3rd copy of SLI (1 is on my nook. That way no one can see what I am reading:) ). I am sharing one copy with my preachers wife and will keep my autographed copy (it's a little hard to get my nook autographed.) I have never read any of the other books. Might have to check them out.

OH, I love Francine Rivers too. A few years ago I took the first and maybe the second book of Mark of the Lian on vacation (can't remember). My husband wanted a book to read too. I told him he probably would enjoy mine. That was a big mistake. He loved it so much he bagan reading it and at one point we were trying to read the same book at the same time in different places. It was tricky.

The character Hadassah fleshed out servanthood for me. I've begun reading it to my sons 10 and 13 at night.

I'd love to be at one of those signings but live two far away.

That's quite a book signing event! Lucky Texan ladies :)

Favorite Francine Rivers book... I don't know if I can completely choose... my first experience with a FR book was when I was about 14/15 and an avid reader... A friend of my mother loaned me the Mark of the Lion series which I read under my covers at night with a flash light! My very conservative mother likely would have thought they were too graphic/discriptive for me at that time... :) I guess I should confess my sneakiness, but once I started I could NOT put them down! Need to re-read...

The Lineage of Grace series opened my eyes to see those biblical women in a whole new light that I could relate too... wow.

I think the only book I didn't get, and again, I read it way too young, was the Sin Eater. Need to read it again since I've enjoyed all her other books.

But favorite... I do think it's Redeeming Love. Such a story of grace, forgiveness and love. Only the heart of God could offer that, and I'm so thankful I have received that same love, forgiveness and GRACE that Angel received... what a wonderful picture of God's heart.

Sorry - long post... I get excited when I talk about books! haha

My favorite so far have been "Redeeming Love" and The Mark of the Lion series. However, I think this new book may become a life-changing read for me. My mother had issues with her mother(my grandmother), I had issues with my Mom, and my oldest daughter and I have issues. I am so anxious to read this book to gain useful insight into this dilemma. Francine Rivers can write such powerful, thought-provoking, life-altering fiction. Can't wait to get my hands on it! Also, I have heard via Mrs. Rivers Facebook page that they are in the planning stages of turning Redeeming Love into a movie. Let's hope they stay true to the message and story line and don't ruin it.

I cannot imagine having two more dynamic authors from my life in a room together. Mark of the Lion series and Redeeming Love are powerful pieces of fiction that bulge with the intensity of real Christian life. Of course, Beth has the rare gift from God to say and write what all of us are secretly thinking. She reminds me of the words of an older hymn (May the Mind of Christ My Savior): May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

I even wrote her an email one time, telling her that I think someone ought to write a Biblical fiction account of the life of Daniel and I think she is the perfect one to do it! (I'm pretty sure I wrote that when I was doing your mom's Daniel study!) So, maybe if you think its a good idea too, you could mention the idea to Francine again for me! ;)

Have fun!

Oh! How I wished I lived in Texas! My two absolute favorite authors together in the same place! What a beautiful thing! I pray God blesses both of you. Thank you for allowing God to use you and bless us with your studies and stories, they have both touched my life more than you'll ever know.

I LOVE...LOVE...LOVED! The Mark of the Lion Series!! I have to admit that I have not read "Redeeming Love"....yet. I just picked up "A Lineage of Grace" which I have read several ladies' comments on the various stories within (ie. Rahab and Bathsheba) so I can't wait to find time to pick it up and begin!!
Sorry that I live more than a hop, skip and a jump away or you would find me in one of those lines! :)

My favorite Francine Rivers is hands down, the Mark of the Lion Series as well. 'A Voice in the Wind' was my favorite. In trilogy work I always tend to love the first installments!!

Oh how we all wish we were Texans today. We'll get over it come summer :) Your mom is my favorite non-fiction author and Francine Rivers is my favorite fiction author. What a Team! My favorite book of all time (besides God's Word, of course) is The Last Sin Eater. I literally sobbed like a baby the first time I read it. Have purchased it more times than I can tell, because I keep giving it away. Profoundly spoke to my heart. Actually considered asking my husband for a quick ticket to Texas. Now, calm down, Kathy and quit acting like a groupie :)
Blessings to Texas today!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I could CRY! I am a Houstonian living in Mississippi and can NOT believe I won't be there for this! I LOVE the Mark of the Lion series! Actually, I love everything I have ever read by Francine Rivers--I think she is the finest fiction writer of our time.

A favorite Francine Rivers Book? Not possible. Each was my favorite for many different reasons.

Thats like asking which was your favorite Beth Moore Bible study? Again... totally not possible. God used each and every one for different seasons of my life.

I love both these ladies and their tremendous talent to share Gods character and his goodness through their books.

Wish I lived in Houston!

Francine Rivers. The 'Mark of the Lion' trilogy is my absolute favorite. Once I read those books, I find myself constantly comparing all other books I read to them!!

I just came from the book signing at the B & N in Southlake, TX! It was so precious! It was truly eye-opening to say that Ms. Beth really looked at people & saw them, not just past them among the crowd of people there - I didn't expect that! There truly was a genuine sense of her joy in being there, her love for people, and her burning commitment to Him. One really precious moment was when Beth stopped to hug a friend in the signing line, and then stooped down to hug the cutest little girl with a full bag of potatoe chips in one hand, & her arm around Beth with the other.
That's called having your cake & eating too, knowing that pie is on the way! I was so blessed to meet Beth today after all the years of doing her Bible Studies, watching Life Today, and listening to the radio program when it was airing. available. As another lady in line said today, "I met Beth, and we've made a coffee date for when we get to Heaven to chat, and hang out with our God!" Count me in sister!

Definitely my two favorite authors. Can't be there, but I'd love to.
My favorite Francine Rivers book is definitely "Redeeming Love"!!!
Pray that I allow God to love people through me like He required and equipped Hosea to love. 'Cause if it wasn't for the Lord's love to me I'd be a broken mess.

Hallejues! Hallejues! A new Francine Rivers book... My favorite is "Redeeming Love." I couldn't put it down. At the time I read it my girlfriends and I had cast it for a movie. I've changed my leading actors now, tho... I now propose Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin for the leads.

Very exciting that these two wonderful ladies will be together. Bummed that I live all the way up in MSP.

Hands down Redeeming Love. I cried like a baby because I felt like Angel. I had just started a season of understanding Jesus' deep love for me and really feeling it for the first time. This book put powerful words and emotions to what Jesus had already started in my heart.

Wish I was in Texas for the book signings!
