Some Folks I Really Love
Hey, My Sweet Siestas!
A few days ago I received this picture that someone took in September at the Deeper Still conference. I thought I'd share it with you because it's got some folks in it I severely love. That's me and my buddies, Lisa Whelchel and Priscilla Shirer, in the forefront. I am wild about both of them. Priscilla was on the program with Kay and I that weekend (I so wish Kay were in the picture with us!) and Lisa had come to participate, receive a word, and show support for her friends. She, truly, is one of the best friends to people I have ever seen. Priscilla, Lisa, and I are pretty close. (With me that's a relative term because…well, because of a lot of things, schedules mostly. Quit trying to get me off track here.) We stay as in touch as we can with our crazy schedules. We pray for one another as we travel and speak and usually know what city the other is serving in. Lisa and Priscilla live in the same area and get to be together a lot more than all three of us do, but they embrace me as their buddy and make me feel loved and included in their journeys with Christ.
That fellow in the background of the picture is certainly not in the background of my life. That's my man and I don't have to tell you how crazy I am about him. He's not with me at an event very often because he makes me danged nervous. For the most part, I've settled the issue about not needing the approval of a group, but I still struggle with wanting his. And I have it…but sometimes it's just awkward to have him sitting on that front row and if he says the least critical thing afterward, I'm promptly devastated. You keep getting me off track. Anyway, Keith calls Priscilla, Lisa, and me "Prissy, Sissy, and Missy" and it always makes me laugh.
And, quickly, about that last post on the fashion news: You guys are so much fun. I got a huge kick out of your responses. I'd like to say a three things in response to your responses:
1. I was really moved by the homeschooling mom who asked us to pray for her and said, "I still haven't figured out if homeschooling is one word or two." If you happen to be reading today, I just wanted to hug you to pieces. And tell you that you are some kind of woman. Siestas, pray for homeschooling moms today. They have a tough and important job. (If you're thinking about homeschooling, check out this page on Lisa Whelchel's web site.)
2. Speaking of being "some kind of woman," I'd like to respond to our beloved sister who wrote in and said that she was a tomboy and just trying to get a little more comfortable with her own womanhood. As much as I tease about lip gloss and shoes, I want you to know that if you have two X chromosomes, I am your servant. You don't ever have to put on a pair of capris as long as you live and you'll still be a real woman to me (far more than that, to CHRIST who created you) and I'll still feel called to serve you the Word if you'll let me. To tell you the truth, Christian womanhood is hard for all of us. That's why we're doing this thing together. You are welcome here and I love you dearly.
3. That brown jacket several of you asked me about in "Loving Well" was from the store "Forever XXI" (which, of course, we're not) and you'll be pleased to know that it was also a steal. BUT, it's a few years old so I don't think you'll find it on the shelf any more. I surely would let you borrow it if I could! I got it in green, too.
Stay in the Word!!! I love you profusely.

Beth, thank you for sharing a bit more of your life journey! What a great picture of you and Lisa and Priscilla.
Have a great week Siestas - is it August yet?
That is such a fun picture...one can just feel the happy from it.
Serious kudos to homeschooling moms! My bff :) homeschooled (8 years) until this year...I watched her struggle and I watched them thrive...I guess that's what it's all about. So, all you selfless moms...you rocks, you truly ROCK! I'll be praying for you today.
Your posts always make me laugh Beth. I'm a newbie siesta (if you all will have me, is there like some induction ceremony or anything that I should know about, lol?) Thanks for being you and making us laugh!!!
Beth,
Thank you so much for praying for us homeschooling moms. I am in the midst of it today with my four-giving lessons, grading papers and keeping people focused. When people say to me "I could never do that", I say I can't either except for the grace, wisdom and strength of Jesus Christ. I am nothing special, just trying to be obedient. We women should encourage and pray for one another whether we are moms or not, stay at home or not, homeschool or not. There is so much condemnation in this world, and we should stand together in prayer.
You are a hoot, getting off track and all that!
Beautiful woman, inside and out, is our Beth!!
And that jacket? I couldn't get my hand in it, nor my arm, nor around my back...but I CAN appreciate it on you.
I love Lisa! And Priscilla? My Chris and I have really loved her Daddy, Dr. Evans, for so long...we miss hearing him here on the radio in Colorado. She comes from a great family. I look forward to hearing more from her!
Praying for your week, Sister! See you at the taping this weekend...I'm flying in to see my friends Bev and Christie, and we're coming to see and hear God's Word through You!
Love,
Holly
precious post...
you make me want to find the River within me, my beautiful God within...
this spoke to me that you are no respecter of persons and accept those from the highways and biways...there's no such thing as 2 groups in life---those who are IN and those who are OUT...i've spent too much of my life thinking I am OUT and people like Missy, Prissy, and Sissy :) are the ones IN...you made me think of Psalm 46 as your God is your present help...when our earth gives way...there is a River within where our Most High dwells...God is within you; you will not fall...thank you for taking us to our beautiful God saying to our souls to be still and know He is our refuge and a strong God in us. I just love reading this blog and glimpsing into your precious heart for Him, for Keith, for your girls, even for bloggers...
You are such a great siesta! I think what is so fun about you is the complete package. Now, don't get me wrong...I know noone is perfect other than our Lord Jesus Christ. What I mean by the "complete package" is fun, funny, a wonderful Bible study teacher, encourager in our faith and our own personal walk with the Lord, a great example of loving our husbands through the good and the bad (ours as much as theirs!) and fashion/shopping tips! You are a fun person...and for the life of me I don't know how you have the energy to do and travel all that you do. I get tired watching you or hearing where you've been or where you are going. Bless you and you are in my prayers!
See you Tuesday night at Bible study!
Good Morning,
I so much enjoy being able to check in on your blog and see how God is blessing you and all the other ladies that comment.
Beth, you are truly bless to have a man in your life that suppports you in your ministry. Up until 4 years ago I did not have that blessing in my life. Always choosing the wrong kind of guy. I was married 13yr to an unbeliever been divorced 10 yrs. A friend of mine a few years (4 yrs)ago prayed for God to send someone into my life and of course he did. It is such a blessing to have someone in my life that now shares the same love for God and ministry. He is my best friend and supports me in my walk with God as I do his. But believe me, because he is my best friend he also keeps me straight when I need to be kept straight.
Tell your husband thank you for taking such good care of you and supporting you.

PS I still have friends praying for this man. Because we are just friends that everyone is praying to be more. If you would like you and say a few prayers our way also. By the way he is in our Daniel bible study at church and loves do your studies. Pray also on Oct 21st I have to lead the class and he will be in there.
Love you Beth!! It is great to see you having fun, as I expect you do often. There is something about your 'man' being disappointed. Anything else is bearable!! :)
Thanks for sharing your life with us! I too struggle with if Homeschool is one word or two! haha My spell check always makes it 2 words. I guess it is 2. We are beginning the home school journey this year. It is tough but it is fun!!
Blessings.
I met Priscilla and Lisa here in Chattanooga,TN. They were very sweet but I was too nervous to be sweet so I just smiled and said very, very little. I tried to just be "normal" but I guess I am not as cool as I would like to think I am.
Thank you Beth for being so real. It is true that we are all so different and that is what makes this journey so interesting!! I love that picture of the three of you girls. I would have loved to be right in the middle of you all!! I too am a home school mom and some days I really think I am going to lose it!! Thank you for lifting all of us home school moms up in prayer!! We need it!!
God Bless,
Charmel
So much fun!!! In all the stress of my life I love finding places where women are just real. It's so fun just to be the women God made you -- frumpy or frilly!
Beth, I just love you like I love my own mom! You are great and so real. Thanks for being so real. God bless you today.
I can not begin to tell you how excited I get every time I check this blog and find a new post!! Whether its from you or Amanda, serious or too funny for words, a huge happy feeling comes over me! I know that whatever I am about to read will make my day a little better. I have been blessed more through this blog than I ever thought possible. You have made me stop and think. You have also made me bust out laughing!! And I love that!!
Thanks Ms B! For sharing you life with us. Your family and friends. Your walk with our Father.
Thank you most of all for being you! You Rock!!
Just to clarify, were you Missy or Sissy? I can't really see you as a Sissy! ;-)
Love you, Ms Beth. Tons and tons!
OH Bethie! How we love you. I was sitting at church after choir practice yesterday, reading one of your books, and everyone who walked by just gushed, " Oh, I just love the things she writes! She just seems so real!" Thank you Beth, for being real. You have inspired me to be a better wife, foster mom and to continually seek Jesus, and to fall head over heals in love with him, b/c after all, he is already head over heels in love with me!
Beth, AJ and Melissa,
Don't you just love the fact that Jesus loves us all completely--doesn't matter if we are a girly-girl or a girly tomboy or a tomboyish girl or any combination of the above. He loves us to pieces!! He even likes us, which is often more than we can say about ourselves. He likes us, girls. Take that in!! Drink it deeply!! Believe it!! I am so darned thankful that no matter what I've done or where I've been or how deep a pit I've been in (and I've been in some mighty deep pits) He still likes me and loves me!! Yahoo!!
Thanks for sharing the picture, Beth. It reminds me so of my relationship with my Bible study sisters. We've been together for 7 years now and we have such a strong bond in Christ. Have a great week!!!

Beth, I loved seeing a picture of your man! I'm sure that there are other pics of him out there but I haven't seen one. Or at least I have forgotten about it if I did see it! I struggle with the approval of my man too. He is a Christian, but I feel like I have gone to the next level with God in the past year, and he hasn't. It makes me really sad, because there are things I can't share with him fully. Fortunately, I get my satisfaction and identity from God and not from my husband. But still, I wish he was where I am. I pray for him all the time. I wonder if you ever went through the same thing. Was Keith always as supportive of you as he is now?
I had to comment back because one of my coworkers, who just loves you, saw the photo and said that she knew that Lisa was there because Mandy she recognized her hair! How funny is that!! And she was setting way up high in the arena.
Just thougt I would pass that "funny" along!
First I am staying in the word Mrs. Beth! Second you still have yet to let us in on the skirt. that is the cutest skirt I have EVER seen. Next, don't you love how God would take one of the manliest men and bring him to one of the girliest events ever! That is God and with Him all things are possible!! I really think Mrs. Amanda looks just like that daddy! I never could decide. I love you all at Living Proof. I met this man at the store I work at this weekend. He has done almost all of your studies! Rock on brother!!! Whenever men try to come to my bible studies my man gives them a disclaimer that "this is a woman's bible study you know". I could beat him! Anyway, I told that man that he was a real man for doing those studies! I just knew you would be proud!! Much love!
Dear Beth, It reassures me to hear you say that you still need to know of your husband's approval. Like you, I know my husband approves of me, REALISTICALLY, I know that, but often I am just not sure how or why. So often it seems we women feel approval from one another much more than we feel it from our most significant other. Maybe you have some other words of wisdom or honest feelings you can share about why it is so difficult for us to comprehend and then feel that we keep such approval? Sometimes I think it is just all me and the inside of my head saying it isn't what you hope for....expect of............the longings for romance that only us girls can define but don't want to admit (lets say more correctly, SPELL IT OUT!) to our husbands. Shouldn't they know us better after decades of marriage? I love it when you include your men on your blog........Keith and Jackson........blessings, Annette in SC
What a great picture! I will always remember Deeper Still Nashville...it was amazing! I just moved to Fort Worth from Arkansas and a small group of seminary wives and I just began A Woman's Heart God's Dwelling Place. What a neat experience to sit in Price Hall on the campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, watching you on the big projector screen in a classroom. We all have recently moved here and most of us are still blown away at actually being here. So the question posed by God in the garden of Eden, "Where are you?" really rings in a unique way at this time in our lives. I'm a 37 year old homeschooling mom of 3, ages 10, 7, and 3 and my husband and I recently surrendered to international missions. At times it seems like a mid-life crisis! But we are thrilled to be on this journey with God...and Believing God and the Patriarchs have been so instrumental in God's calling on my life. I am excited to see what the Lord has to show me through this new study and also am thrilled to just have discovered this blog! It is lonely here without friends and family!
Love the photo!!! I have been a fan of Lisa Whelchel for a long time. Love her website. I have homeschooled my son since 7th grade and he graduated this weekend. He's only 16!! What an amazing boy his is... You can check out my new blog spot at http://onetexasmama.blogspot.com hope to hear from y'all Karen
As a homeschool mom I thank you so much for asking our siesta's to pray for us!! I wouldn't trade this job for anything! Even on those days I send everyone back to bed and make them get up again. (Usually, we're all in a better mood on the second try!)
Loved the picture! I had the honor of leading worship when Lisa was at our church to speak and she is the real deal. She kept me on my toes, but it was a blast! God used her story in a mighty way and we welcomed several new siesta's into the family of God. It was just awesome.
blessings!

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful picture of Prissy, Sissy and Missy ;) - that is just darling! And you precious Keith looking on... just a sweet glimpse of the life you two share. I thank God and thank you dear Beth and Keith, for sharing your lives with so many of us out here!
I've been reading this blog for sometime, but this is my first comment. I love to see the friendship! There's nothing like our girlfriends. They just understand some things better than our men. For instance, the morning I painted my toenails on the way to work (only at red lights, of course). But my man thought that was insane. My best girlfriend thought it was very normal. Thanks for your "real life" blog, it's so uplifting.
I love the picture!! You all look like you have so much fun! Thank you for asking others to pray for homeschooling moms. I have been homeschooling for 9 years and I did it when it wasn't the popular thing to do and there were a lot of people who gave me a hard time about it and said not so nice things to my children.
I have told anyone who asks me that I homeschool because God led me to, otherwise I would have never done it. It is a huge task and we do need the prayers. It's also a lot of fun. My oldest graduated and I have 1 to go. During Bible study I am teaching him your study, When Godly People do Ungodly Things. Beth, it speaks to teenage sons!! Have a blessed Monday and thank you for serving us!!
Love You,
Patty
Beth- what a privilege it is to read your blog. Whether filled with inspiration, restoration, hope, wisdom or well, just plain fun... it is ALWAYS filled with the Love of God.
I too have a blog- though read by only a few close friends- I realize the work that goes into maintaining it. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the time and energy required to post... what may seem insignificant at times brings joy and often direction to many who drop in to see what you've offered.
And thank you for humbly staying before the Lord first to further your relationship with Him... and also to minister out of your overflow to women everywhere.
Your love for Him is contagious for which I am grateful.
Sincerely,
Chelle'
another homeschooling mother of three that wonders if homeschool is one word or two. :)
Hey Beth, I just love knowing you are a real person with all sorts of things going on. You seem so at ease talking abot things, from loving your man to trying to find the best deals on clothes we can wear out in public. I'm not very good at expressing myself, I just wanted you to know what an inspiration you are to me. Your love for Jesus comes through loud and clear and just flows all over me. Thank you for being so willing to serve. May God continue to bless you as only he can.
Some days when I'm homeschooling, I think, "What am I DOING??" Thank you for your encouragement for us to pray for each other, every woman, homeschooling or not! One more word on the challenge of being a Christian woman who is trying to look cute and modest. Recently,a sweet lady informed me, "Well, you shouldn't care about your hair! You're a missionary!" And I thought, "If good hair is important to Beth Moore, it can be important to me!" Thank you, Beth! And I'm blonder than I pay to be, too!
You just kill me! I'm always smiling and frequently laughing, sometimes crying when I'm on this blog. You are so much more than our Bible Study teacher. Though we've never hugged, I feel like your friend because of the way you talk to us. I'm just one of millions (yes, I think it's millions!) of women who love you profusely too. AND yes, I'm staying in the word!! It was a year ago this past weekend that me and my five dear sisters made a trip to Salt Lake for LPL. You talked on His measureless love from Ephesians. Guess what verse our pastor ended our worship service with yesterday?!!! Yep. Those of us who went were looking around at the others and smiling. We remember. We will never forget HIS MEASURELESS LOVE!!!
Melana in Wyoming
I don't know how you do it Beth, but your love for all of us shines through in your writing. Most of us will never get the chance to personally meet you and tell you how much we love you too.
I think it is so important to know how much you care and love us, because you are connected to us through your Bible Studies/writings/& conferences. You are a mentor, friend, mom, sister, & fashion diva :) to us. Your family feels like they are our family, and we celebrate and mourn with you when those times come around. It doesn't always make sense, but God has connected us all in a very special way. I love you Beth, and will continue to pray for you, your family, and LPM.
Blessings today and forever!!!
PS. Love the picture of Sissy, Prissy, and Missy. I was at the conference too...What a blast!
I love my girlfriends, God's Word, my man and shoppin' (I am so missing it right now...). Thank you for loving us and sharing so much! It is really good to know that you love your girlfriends too... :-) It makes my heart sing to read new blogs and hear everyone's hearts! God bless the homeschooling mom's. That is one spiritual gift that God surely left off of my list for good reason! I love ya'll - all ya'll siestas!
I find it absolutely hilarious you actually were fighting with yourself as you wrote that post LOL.
" Quit getting me off track."
Its all you girl lol.
I want to say. I have been listening to " Who do you trust." off my ipod, and that was definitely one of the most profound studies you have done, right next to Daniel and Believing God(ok, haven't taken all that many.)
I am gonna break apart Psalm 62 piece by piece.
You rock;)
Angie
WOW! I enlarged that picture to see it better and my computer made it so big I could only see these three really big, beautiful, and very white sets of teeth! It has inspired me to go buy some teeth whitening strips! Anyway! I'm thanking God for all three of you and for the ways he has spoken to me through you at different times...most recently through "Taking Care of the Me in Mommy" by Lisa. Take care!
The Journey Continues~
Hi Beth! I just got back from walking on the beach in California with my man. Today is his 50th. We were talking about favorite memories and times and he responded that one of his favorite times with me was at your San Francisco event with Kay and Priscilla. He was one of the only men there that weekend. He said it made him happy to see me praising God with all those siestas and hormones. I am sure he would have preferred shooting birds with Keith.
I want to know how tall you are and also Keith? Tell Lisa,Kay & Priscilla that I love them too!
BE THE MOON, REFLECT THE SON!
With "Heaven Bound" blessings,
Kim Safina ~ Cayucos

I love the pic! Could Priscilla's jacket be any cuter???
I also LOVE that you shop at Forever 21! It is a great place for bargains!
Oh Beth! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets all nervous when I speak in front of my husband. I can stand in front of ANYONE else and be ok, but as soon as my hubby walks in I get all clamy and start stumbling all over the place.
I tell ya, that man just knocks me off my feet. :)
What a great picture! Girlfriends just get it don't they? I too am a tomboy at heart and I'm glad you love me anyway! :) I'm especially glad God loves me the way I am and that He chose you to teach and reach us. Thank you for being obedient to Him and blessing us.

I think Beth needs THIS jacket...in a pinch it could arguably be 'huntresswear"
Love you~
I love it, you girls looks like the modern day Facts of Life Cast. Except you all are realing telling the true facts of life. Amen!!!
What beautiful women you all are. Thank you for your willingness to serve God in a modern day Babylon.
Yes, I too, love a steal and a bargain on my clothes. You always have such cute clothes Beth. I love to shop at TJ MAXX myself!!!
you 3 ladies are so cute...who could ask for more than 3 sisters who are crazy in love with our Mighty God- WHEW, i'd love to just sit and drink starbucks with you 3, I think i'd just sit and listen...while i sipped some yumminess!! and how cute with keith in the back, he looks so patient there, while I am sure you 3 are just chatting you heads off having a hoot-of-a time!
and as far as forever 21 goes, I am sure if you got it yesterday it wouldn't be there anymore, that store changes inventory DAILY I think!! You are precious girl!! LOVE YOU!
Beth, I followed Lisa's website faithfully every week for years and I remember when she was meeting you face-to-face for the first time (for a dinner in a hotel). I remember her recording how nervous she was. How just like our Lord to bring you both together as friends!
Now, I must go because you see, I need to shower so that I can get to this bible study I'm leading ....it's on the Life and Ministry of Paul - maybe you've heard of it??? Ha ha - we're on week 2 and I'm so excited to get there tonight to discuss Stephen and Paul and Barnabas and forgiveness and encouragement and withholding prejudice and, and, and.... Thank you so much for serving us, Beth! Press on!
This post and the comment have made me cry. It is just what I need right now. This homeschooling mom has been struggling with feeling inadequate for longer than I care to admit. I have graduated two and still homeschool two. Anyway my abilities to school, do house work, the way I look, etc. are all being questioned. Sorry for getting so Blah. Anyway please pray for me.
On a different note: Friends are such a blessing and gift from God. I am very thankful for every one that God brings my way.
Thank you Beth for the many words of encouragements and exhortations you give. Thanks for being real. Kim B. in Az.
Pictures with friends are so much fun! You girls are just the cutest ever!
San Anotnio is going to be a blast and a half---I can't wait!
Beth, you are somethin' else and I love you so much! I laugh and cry with you. You're getting off track cracked me up because that is so me!
Hey sweet Ms. Beth...
I think you have a "leg" of Ms. Kay's in the picture!!! Having been at the FANTASTIC conference, I recognize that boot anywhere!!
We just love ya and I pray God's presence and blessings over you my sweet Siesta!!
Blessings~
Fran
Beth,
I just looked on your schedule and noticed that you will be in Billings, MT next year! I'm excited already. Thanks so much for taking the time to post here....it is a blessing to so many.
Sarah from Wyoming.u
Three beautiful women! And to know the spark in each of you is knowing Christ - all the more beautiful!
Well, Beth, I'm just dying to know which one is Sissy, which one is Prissy and which one is Missy! :)
I've never met your man but feel like we all know and love him. I am very blessed to attend church with some of his family and they sure do look alike!
Thank you so much for sharing with us the way that you do!
Michelle

I should have said "Thank you for serving HIM" ... we just get to reap the benefits :)
It is so tough these days to have time with our friends, but when we do, isn't it grand. Even when we don't see them all the time, it is so nice that the Lord has put them in our lives. I have a great friend who lives far away (10 hours). She will call sometimes and ask if I want to go to Target with her or I'll call and say you need to meet me at Gap for a great sale. Not the same as being together, but still puts a smile on our face and makes us laugh. Thank God for great friends, close and far away.
Thanks for all your encouraging words, Beth. You are a gem!!
Praise Jesus that someone thinks it's ok to shop at Forever XXI if you are clearly not... I am going to purposely buy something there now.
Praise Jesus for siestas!
Praise Jesus for two XX chromosomes!
Praise Jesus for women with the honor, the patience, the spirit, the committment, and the mental stability to homeschool their children. We could all learn a thing or two.
Thanks today Beth, love you bunches.
Y'all are stinkin' adorable.
And thank you for reminding of the coat Priscilla had on that day. It had an anointing of its very own. Oh yes it did.
I love Lisa Welchel from "Facts of Life" days and have heard her testimony in person! WOW how exciting! God has given you so many cool experiences and friends! I love the fact that we can shop at Forever 21 even at 50! I do too! I love your fashion sense and try put together as many "Beth" outfits as possible! :) I'm also trying the hair thing! Not as successful with that! :)You are the best!
Thank you for praying for home schooling moms. Sometimes I think the reason God wants us to home school is to deepen our prayer lives! Being home all day with our 12, 7, and 5 year old boys definitely brings me to my knees some days. Actually every day:)
Dear Beth,
I love the three of you, too...
But I have to say that two of my sweet friends are in that picture, too. I'm sure they would have smiled had they known they were being photographed...
That's Selma Wilson -- a friend who has always encouraged me in my marriage and in my writing.
The other is Linda Coggins. Linda and I gathered around a little preschool table, sitting in those little tiny chairs about 8 years ago and started Women's Ministry in what is now a huge church in Smyrna, TN.
When I see them (and you, Priscilla and Lisa), I smile and thank God for Women's Ministry!!!
Blessings,
Dori
I love what you said about the chromosome requirement. God is so thrilled that we are all uniquely different, I'm sure he gets bummed out when we try to make each other "look alike, be alike, act alike", etc. I LOVE it that being in HIS family means we can embrace the common ground: being in love with Jesus and celebrate the differences. I have friends who are stay at home moms, home schooling moms, I'm a single career woman, and I have friends who could cut timber with the best of them and friends who think pink is our national color! I LOVE IT!!! Imagine God looking at his family of daughters enjoying his athletes, his fashonistas and everything in between...boy wouldn't the world be impressed if they saw how much we can love on each other not despite our differences, but because of them: might even make 'em want to Jesus for themselves :-)
Beth,
Thanks for being real! I think I truly love that best about you.
God is always good, but this road seeking HIM is very difficult, and sometimes hard to stay focused. There seem to be many frauds that jump on and off the road, and if my eyes aren't on HIM, I stumble all around the place! I will finish this race, but for the record, I will be severly torn and tattered til I get there.
Princess to princess
(Prin Mandy, you don't have to post this comment if you don't want to...just wanted to put it out there)
Thanks for the reminder to pray for homeschoolers. My sister has 5 kids (9,4,20mo,20mo,6mo)...and home schools. She's great at it and the kids love it. How she does it and stays sane though...only by the grace & strength of God. I've told her about this blog several times, how encouraging it is & fun. Maybe one day - in the next decade, or two :) -she'll be able to have a minute to check it out.
I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who shops at Forever XXI. The Lord has blessed me with many a bargain item on those shelves.
Darling picture. The three of y'all couldn't be cuter!
What amazing women you are---Missy, Sissy, and Prissy. You are all anointed servants of our most high God. I love your studies Beth and so appreciate all of your insights. Your studies have helped me through many tearful times.
I heard Priscilla at Going Beyond at the Met in Houston, Texas in July. What valuable jewels she brought with her to share from her own jewel box. She autographed my book but I was way too shy to doing anything but stand and gawk.:-)
Seeing your man supporting you makes me a tad bit jealous of all the women whose husbands are believers. I am unequally yoked. Talk about a hard place to be!
Pray! Pray! Pray! That is my motto.
Blessings and Grace to you.
Mama B--
*I'm SO sorry that we kept getting you off track..we will do better ;)
*and not a total let-down...Mama Kay did make the picture...well, her cute shoes (scratch that, SHOE) and coffee cup made it :)
*tried to find a fun acronym before dinner for you 3 darling girls, but all i got was "Lead-Based Paint" and "Broadband Power Line" ...hahahahaha...not so much :p
love you...mean it.
Loved the photo! "Prissy, Sissy and Missy"...Keith got it right and each of you are precious.
Beth, thank you for taking time to share with us. You always make me laugh and sometimes cry but I am always spurred on to know Him more after having read your posts.
Your next to last sentence, "Stay in the Word!!!", caught my eye. I want to tell you how God has used your study, Believing God, to work in my life. Last year, I watched the videos and completed the workbook at home. It spoke to my heart in such a way that I wanted to share the study with the women at my church. Every one who attended loved it. Believe it or not, I am going through it with yet a third group of ladies. (I guess I will be wearing a blue bracelet from now on and that is okay.) I share all this to say, the light bulb finally came on for me...the fifth statment that we were asked to learn says this: God's Word is alive and active in me. Each time I would say this statment the Holy Spirit would prick my heart by reminding me, "God's Word is alive and active but it's not in you." He was faithful to keep showing me the importance of hiding Scripture in my heart. Whenever I have been obedient He has been so faithful to bring His Word to life in my heart. In the everyday coming and going He has been faithful to bring a word to mind at just the right time to help me make a decision or counsel a friend whatever the need. He is truly amazing to show me this and I am so thankful. Now I can truly say, God's word is alive and active in Me, because John 15 in is my heart. This truly has made the Word come to life for me. I used the New American Standard version to learn the chapter. The word "abide" is mentioned over and over. I remember waking up one morning in a cold sweat asking myself, Am I? Am I? Am I abiding? I went straight to my pastor and said, "Please tell me what it means to abide. I said, Bro. Clay explain it to me as if you were speaking to a 10 year old. I want to get this." He said, to abide means to stay connected to Jesus. He is the vine and we are the branches.
I am probably going on too much I just wanted you to know what a blessing this has been; to hide the Holy Scripts in my heart and see it come to life.
Love,
Mary
I was wondering why homeschooling went so well today :) Thank you for all the prayers! With one graduated and one graduating this year from homeschooling, one would think I would have it down...but teaching my last one to read....my oh my....today we spelled bat and I asked her to read it back to me and she said fish!!! Close, real close :)lol
I love your love for us and so appreciate your acceptance. I love your outfits even if mine usually always include jeans! Not that a more than a few haven't tried to upgrade me :)
grateful
mk
ps - thank you leah for the post that God likes us. Now that's a hard one to accept but I sure needed hearing it today!
Thanks so much for your wonderful and letting us peek into your real life and friends (like Lisa and Priscilla)!
More than that today- thanks for the prayers for homeschooling Moms! I'm one of those who left her nursing management career behind to come home with my 3 kids and homeschool! I've never done anything so hard in all my life but God knows what He is doing and it's all worth it!
Blessings to you and yours!
All of those lovely women in one place! Oh how I wish I could have been there!
Beth,
I do the same thing - if I really like something I buy it in every color (at least every color that I like). So when you said that you have that jacket in green, I smiled.
I'm glad you've got some good girlfriends. We need each other. I assume you're the Missy. Keith must be lots of fun.
I think that it was when you were in Denver that you mentioned the 5 Love Languages book. I just finished it and was thinking about how God loves me through my love language. Kind of a cool thought. Then today I found out that there is also a book by Chapman about that very subject. Before I read it I think that I will let God speak to my heart about it. What fun. Thank you for the referral.
Thank you Beth for sharing more of you. I just love that and what a wonderful picture of you and your dear friends.
I am praying for all you dear siestas here. Being a teacher with 16 very busy thrid, fourth, and fifth graders I come here to let my hair down and just be me and laugh and love yall so much. Thanks for sharing siestas.
love and blessings
I am so glad to hear someone else over 40 (sorry but had to say it) shops at Forever 21. They have a new store for just accessories now-Forever Love(???).
Debbie
Dearest Beth-
How cute is that picture? I can see and feel the love!
My testy showed up today....but I asked God to give me insight...:~)
I had one of our church members (88 years old) call me and ask me,"when is the next Beth Moore conference?"
My dear sister....you have that special touch from our Father!
Have a blessed evening!
Precious picture! Precious people!
oh beth - thank you for posting that picture. I have had a rough, rough week and just needed to reminded of all the Lord taught me that weekend at Deeper Stil. That picture brought back so many great memories, hopes, and dreams!!
thank you and have a wonderful week!!
Leigh
When circumstances seem to suck the life out of me I love to come to your blog and escape for a minute. I never know what will be there waiting, but usually it just perfect! Thank you for being so beautifully authentic.
Okay Beth... you were all over my toes tonight in Wising Up at Work...I am SO tired!!! I dont have the energy to exercise..because I cannot sleep through the night and it is driving me crazy!!! I am taking great vitamin and mineral supplements and they do help some. Obviously the HOT FLASHES of Menopause have not hit you yet.. thank God! I am going to do my best to try and get to sleep earlier and get up and walk... please pray for me!! I love you to pieces!! Martha in Mississippi
Beth,
I especially want thank you for encouraging all the readers to pray for homeschooling moms. I homeschool 2 boys & my oldest will graduate in May. Lisa Welchel's book was such an inspiration to me when I started out the homeschool journey 4 years ago. What a great source of inspiration all 3 of you ladies are! I also wonder if homeschool is one word or two???
Blessings in Christ--
I just wanted to say thank you to Kate for her post. And after homeschooling my 4 teenagers all these years(this is their last year!!!) and just beginning all over again with our 7 yr. old, I too still do not know if homeschooling is one or two words. I write it both ways so that sometimes I'm bound to get it right!
I love the picture of you and your girl friends, there's nothing like girl friends!
Much love and prayers for you Beth, Amanda and all my beautiful Siestas!
Joanne from NH
Prissy, Sissy and Missy! Keith is so funny!
Loved the comment from the divine mother who homeschools! I think she gets an A+ for spelling such a tough word as "homeschooling!"
And a note to moms who homeschool:
my sister homeschooled her two youngest. One is a multi-degree holder from several noted universities and even studied at Oxford. She's smart as a whip! The other passed away at the young age of 23. My sister really treasures the many days spent homeschooling him now. Blessings to all those who choose to teach their children at home.
I love to log on and find a new entry too. I usually just read... but today, I took the plunge and decided to reply. Thank you for the prayers for the homeschooling moms... I also have the pleasure and opportunity to have my children home with me. We watch you on Wednesday mornings on Life Today... my youngest (6) loves it as much as I do. I am praying that they will think back on it later and realize how much I loved them... not the moments that I went crazy. LOL!
Anyway... I want to thank you for being so real. I feel like I know you...
Right now, I am doing "Wising Up" with a few other ladies in my home... and I wanted you to know that I got a great bargain on baggies the other day. I thought about you when I put all five boxes in my cart.
Blessings,
I'm so excited to have just found your blog! I'm still fairly new to the blogging scene, but am loving all of the great girlies (aka siestas) of faith I am finding to hang out with! Can't wait to come back and read some more! :-)
I love Lisa!! She is such an inspiration to me in my own homeschooling adventure! It is neat to know two are friends!!
That is a great picture! You all look so super happy!
I am a new siesta, but have been reading for a long time! My sister did a mission trip with Amanda and her hubby once or twice years ago in either Houston or Corpus Christi. Small world!!
You are too fun! Homeschooling would be daunting for me to say the least. I am in awe of the precious mom's who do so...they have my prayers! Let's also remember to pray for mama's to be blessed with some quiet time each day! Each and every time I go to dig into my Bible study, I am interrupted, without fail, by the cutest little 3 yr old you have ever seen. HOWEVER, mama needs some spiritual refreshing somewhere between laundry, groceries, and Wonder Pets. Amen??
Much love,
Sarah, TN
Great picture of great Godly women. Very nice.
I just got back from session 4 on your study of the tabernackle. WOW!!!! Everytime I take one of your Bible studies, I end up wondering if you have a kid version set up. I have a 13 year old daughter who I try to explain what I'm learning and she just tells me, "mom, that sounds interesting." and that's that. I'm probably talking to much info, because I'm excited, and she tunes me out. Of course, she is 13. Ha!! Thank you for your burning light that stands out in a dark world. Youv'e caught a spark from that pillar of fire that was sent from heaven. Thank you for showing us the way to the all comsuming Flame!
Kim
I so appreciated the prayers for homeschooling moms b/c I am one! I have 5 children... two with Asperger's Syndrome and have homeschooled some or all of them for the past 11 years now! Wow! That's longer than I realized!
Anyway, I need all of the prayers I can get... then, again... don't we all?
I also wanted to mention my blog name... YOU actually inspired the name when I first started the blog! You didn't know that, did you? Funny, how I feel like you are a friend of mine and you don't even know me!
Anyway, when I first started blogging a couple of years ago I was going to call my blog, "The Perils of Parenting and Other Musings", but didn't really like the implications that went along with the MUSE.
As I was thinking about it my eyes fell on one of my favorite books... "POINTS PONDERED". Guess who wrote it?
It just jumped out at me and I loved the alliteration and it reminded me of the verse that speaks of Mary pondering "all these things" in her heart!
Thus was born my first blog: "The Perils of Parenting and Other Ponderings".
I started out here on blogspot and then moved to Homeschool Blogger where I now have 3 blogs, (The Perils of Parenting, Bundled in Prayer... a blog showcasing my afghan projects, and my newest one Recipe4Survival... my easy recipes that I whip up at the end of my crazy, busy days!)
All 5 of my children have blogs too and love it when we can squeeze computer time into their weekly schedule!
Okay, I have definitely rambled long enough, but thanks again for your prayers for homeschooling moms!
AS a homeschool mom myself, I profusely thank you! We need all the prayers we can get. It ain't easy...but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
4 kids, 3 dogs, 4 horses, several cats, a flock of chickens, and a herd of goats: I am the Queen of Quit ALot!
Life is school!
I really do appreciate my Siesta's prayers as a homeschool mom. There are some days when I tell God that I just can't do it! But I know I can with His help. The rest of the time I'm really enjoying watching my daughters learn and being their teacher.
I sat down expecting to smile at whatever you'd written, but instead got tears in my eyes over your comments on homeschooling. I am also a homeschooling mother to a 3rd grader and also have a toddler and a 4 month old! The world tells me I am crazy, but God tells me I am in His will. How hard it is to not listen to the world on some days. Thank you for your prayers and your words of encouragement. Whenever I start to think, "What AM I DOING!?!" God immediately reafirms our decision. He used you today to do that. Love you Girl!
Seeking His Heart,
Marion
I just love how you can still find like-minded friends doing the same thing where God has placed you.
I will never forget the story Lisa told me about you when she came to speak at our church in Chattanooga. She was so funny and played your part well. I think it was one of your first meetings and involved a credit card! See if you can remember that. It should bring you a good laugh!
I think our first encounters with our friends are so funny. I have so many stories but this is not the place! Just know you are so blessed. Lisa is such a sweet and real gal. It was an honor to have her serve with us and our women.
Blessings and love,
Angela
I had a good laugh at this photo! I noticed the girl in the background---the one in the wheel chair. She was "styling" even though she has one foot in a cast, she's got the other one in a high heel pointed toe shoe! You go Siesta!
Sue Sue
I am so glad that you girls have each other. Being in the public eye and recognized everywhere you go, your "normal" life is very different from most of us. God is so good to give you girlfriends with a similar "norm" to understand and empathize with you.
I believe (in all humility, not a hint of boasting here)that God plans to use my daughter to reach the multitudes just as he has used you. She has been divinely designed for it, and He has already done some amazing things through her. AND she is a willing vessel and loves Him and so desires to follow Him. But envisioning that future for her scares me once in a while. My fear is for her life to change so drastically, and that it must be lonely sometimes when you cannot go anywhere without being recognized - you cannot lead a "normal" life, not ever being sure of another's motives. Like I said though, she has been designed for it, and trusts that God will take care of all of that. It is just good for this momma's heart to see that you girls have each. God is so good.
Thanks from a homeschooling mom and her 4 kiddos, who probably appreciate the prayers for their mom more than she does, lol. It isn't always easy, but it is so wonderful!!!! I am sure all the other homeschooling siesta's here appreciate it too!
You can see the love in that pic, I love it. I don't know Priscilla, but Lisa was one of my favorites growing up. Who didn't want to be Blair? I love seeing her as someone besides that. She is a strong God loving women, I can see how you two get along so great!
Sweet Beth: Loving Well! Oh - I can't wait until this Friday! 100 of us girls are headed to the North Georgia mountains with "Loving Well" packed and ready to go. (I'm still a wee bit nervous about the few that still have not figured out that YOU are not going to be there with us physically. I've explained it every which way I can - but they're going to have so much fun -I know they will be okay. Disappointed yes, but okay.) Now I'm looking forward to the brown jacket too. :)
Your word from God to me at Deeper Still in Nashville was amazing. I had a real breakthough from your message on Saturday morning!
It is SO GOOD, and I hadn't been believing that it was coming - but here's my news:
My oldest son and his wife have been praying for children, and they haven't been able to conceive. This has been a heartbreaking season of life for all of us. They are precious. He is a pastor and we have prayed for a godly heritage for future generations.
They began adoption proceedings and recently found out they are going to be adopting TRIPLETS!!! Abundantly above what we could have imagined. Thank you Jesus - Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow.
When I began to pray for God's will and quit asking Him if I could be a grandmother, the bitterness began to leave my heart. Then the good news came.
Thank you Beth for being so precious and real and funny - you crack me up - I love your wit and sense of humor. Timing is everything and you've got it - girl.
Love to you -
Jan in Georgia
Dear Beth, Thanks for sharing your life with us. Great friends who know us (all of us) and love us anyway are just the best!! Can we also lift up in prayer all teachers in general. I teach in the public school system (junior high...I know I should have my brain checked...lol) and each year I see students come into the system with anger, rage, bitterness, and no study skills. Its a miracle that I can actually teach lessons sometimes, because dealing with behavior and organizing their binders can take most of the period. All teachers have a hard time in this day and age can we just lift them all up together. Thanks for the prayers !!! Keep looking up.
Wow. How neat is that...I am doing Priscilla's study, Discerning the Voice of God, using your Praying God's Word and just love Lisa's stuff! What a dynamic group of ladies you are! Because of your obedience to God, I am being blessed!!! Hallelujah!!
Oh I'm so supposed to be doing laundry right now.....but your blog was a good reason to stop and take a break! =) You always give me a good laugh (something much needed on laundry day!!).....I love the "Prissy,Missy,Sissy" part.....I think I might use that for my three girls, it fits them OH SO WELL!! If I can snag it from you?? =) hee hee!!
I think it's great that you still get nervous in front of your husband. What they think of us - and say - it impacts us so dearly doesn't it?
Beth, I just wanted to tell you that I've been studying with you both in Daniel and on the Life Today Wednesday studies. This morning I did the Filled to the Measure series. I have a print-out of the old man/airport story and was led to read it yesterday. To hear you re-tell it on Life Today only confirms to my heart that God wants to do a miraculous work through me. Please pray I would be filled to overflowing. I pray for you and your family often. Thank you for the sacrifices you make in order to be a vessel through which thousands are blessed. Blessings LB
Beth, thank you for being so real! Our girlfriends are a great blessing in our lives. Ya'll look so cute!! Thank you for always encouraging us - you are a gift from God!!
That picture was taken in Nashville wasn't it?? What an awesome weekend that was.
Rita
Ah darling Beth! Fifty-years old and still able to shop at Forever 21! I am jelly (jealous) in a good way! How precious you are! I did buy a hat at Forever 21 once, so I guess I can in all honesty say that I shop there as well. :-)
Thank you for this post and for the accompanying picture. The affection that the three of you feel for each other literally jumps out of the photo! I have loved Lisa Whelchel since I was a child and watched her on "Facts of Life". And I remember how thrilled I was when I found out she was a Christian. She boldly refused to participate in the episode in which one of the girls loses her virginity prior to marriage. I'll bet those Hollywood folks didn't even know what to do with that kind of integrity!
I have had the great thrill of hearing you speak in person several times, and I look forward to one day getting to hear Lisa and Priscilla in person as well!
Thank you for the day-brightener, and please know that we love you whether you are on-track or off-track! Every word from you is a blessing!
Love,
Kristin in Austin
Beth,
You have been one of my "main" spiritual mentors....I thank the LORD for you every time I think of you....I have had the privilige of doing several of your studies & watch you online on Life Today every Wednesday....Thanks for showing me that God really can use Sanguines! A million thanks...
Jodi
My GOODNESS...Do you EVER take a bad picture??? Seriously...I'm not kidding! You're all adorable and the very essence of girlfriends having good times!
Hi there, Miss Beth,
Your blog posts always seem to cheer me up, even though I've been struggling in some valley times for the past few days... And, I want to thank you so much for that. :)
And, as far as staying in the Word goes, I've been reading your
"Praying God's Word Day by Day" book almost every day since I got it last fall, but sometimes life is just "tough". I'm sure that you can understand what I mean when I "say" that.
However, I've got "The Patriarchs" study cds, workbook, and music cd on order via Lifeway, so I will be able to "truly" get back into His Word more deeply soon, I hope. I'm not sure what the Lord has in store for me through that study, but I know that He will have a bunch of "rhema words" in there for me, as I've been being nudged by Him to order this study for a while now, but didn't have the money, but He has now provided that for me, praise God, even though I have not yet found a job that my body can handle these days quite yet. [I have been struggling with an involuntary movement disorder, and have had to fight with muscle weakness, more recently now, too.]
But, I know that my God Loves me, and has been here with me throughout this whole "ordeal", and I know that He does have a plan for my life, too, but it is just so difficult to "wait upon the Lord" sometimes.
So, I simply do a lot of crying out [to Him, of course], (and to a few other trustworthy Christian buddies), confessing, and consenting to try to do His will in my life; moment by moment, day by day.
In Christ's Mighty Love,
Jennifer O.

I LOVE FOREVER 21, and I'm going to be 35 already, but I love their nice, affordable stuff!!
Love ya!!!
Your blog always makes me smile!
Love you!

Precious picture! I have to share something SO COOL that God did!!!!! He is SO AWESOME!!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!! I love to hear these kind of things so I thought maybe you all do too?? This past weekend I went to Colorado for the "Captivating Conference" John and Stasi Eldredge (SO AMAZING!!! POWERFUL!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!) Anyway...the morning of the first full day we kind of had the heavy talk about our wounds we have received etc...you know the kind of talk...the reasons why we believe the lies about ourselves that aren't true!?! Anyway after the talk Stasi said we were to have about a 45 min covenant of silence, a time to go talk to Jesus to linger in His presence...to invite Him into those places where we were wounded...b/c that is the place where true transformation begins and the healing and beauty will come (I'm probably not explaining it right....) but hopefully you know what I mean...Anyway everyone was crying...we all went outside.....to different spots to reflect, pray, sit at His feet...it was a GLORIOUS day....overlooking a valley with mountains surrounding you! God presence was so HUGE! BEAUTIFUL! THEN all of a SUDDEN TWO not ONE but TWO RAINBOWS appeared! (NO RAIN IN SIGHT I MIGHT ADD!!!) Now is that LOVE or what! As Beth would say, "WHEWWWW!!!!" I was on my face crying... everyone's mouth dropped open! I cry to think about it! I wish I could put a picture up for you all! He was there telling all His BELOVED wounded daughters "I AM HERE!!!! MY PROMISES ARE REAL!!!!" "In this world you will have trouble....BUT TAKE HEART I HAVE OVERCOME the WORLD!!!!" Girls HE LOVES us so much! He is PASSIONATE for YOU! He LONGS to HEAL and RESTORE us! We can be FREE!!! We are FREE!!! GIRLS we need to BELIEVE HIM!!! He wants to KISS us awake and let us know WE ARE, CHOSEN, BEAUTIFUL, HOLY, DEAR, SOUGHT AFTER, REDEEMED, DELIGHTED IN , REDEEMED, PRECIOUS, CAPTIVATING!!!! and as Beth would say, "just plain DARLIN' !!!!"
I just had to share that or I was going to POP! I Love my Siestas! In HIS PRECIOUS NAME! Emmy : )
Beth, Cute pic! Not long ago I finally finished your Daniel study (talk about stretching my mind, I had no idea!) and you got me hooked on bible studies! This next one that I am involved in is Discerning the voice of God with Priscilla! I had no idea ya'll were such great friends! She is a spectacular speaker and, like you, am being blessed with understanding from faith-filled women who can deliver the message in a way my simple heart can comprehend! You both have been blessings to me! Thank you so deeply!
Jen in Indiana
Beth, thank you for the link to Lisa Whelchel's site! Even though my daughter is only 12 months old, I'm already thinking about the best choice for her education. I found Lisa's book at my library and I can't wait to read it!
thank you for your enthusiastic love Beth
Y'all are too cute. I love the picture! And Keith looks like he's having a blast!!
Praying for tonight...wish I was there!!
Lots of love,
Lindsee
Hi Beth, I just got back home to Washington State after being at M.D. Anderson in your home town of Houston. On Sept. 23rd, the day before my procedure we went to First Baptist Church of Houston. I saw you a few feet away and wanted to say Hi so bad but wanted to respect your time on Sunday morning. All my friends here in Washington know I saw "Beth Moore". We will be going back again in December to see how the cancer treatment affected the tumors in my leg. The Lord has been so faithful through this whole process. He provided the way. He went before us and was there with us. One night while in the hospital I was really struggling and my family members were praying that God would send an angel and He sent a volenteer after 10 PM at night and she stood by my bed talking to me about the Lord. She was God's messanger to me that night.
Well, I just had to say Hi and that I am home from Houston.
Ms Beth,
You crack me up and we are so sorry about getting you off track - hehe. But how can you stay focused with a man like that and friends that you cherish :)
I know what you mean about your man making you nervous. God called me to women's ministry in the fall of 2006 - would you know my BIGGEST FEAR is public speaking.
I love my ladies and truly enjoy my role now but if my hubby were to show up I would probably throw up or pass out one or the other :)
I love those homeschooling moms - I am not called to do that but at one point I thought about - God quickly showed me that it was not for me - LOL!! It is a definite calling!
You are precious and we love you!!
Kim
Beth, having just seen Pricilla last weekend in California, the word "captivating" keeps coming to mind. Her grace, beauty, and love for our God was absolutly captivating. We were blessed to be there with her. Thank you (and Kay) for introducing her to us. Last night,we did session two of "A Women's Heart".Now,that was a lesson that sticks! We were so blessed. Thank you so much! I gave them each a bag of skittles. i love you! Ann
California Girl,
I soooooo agree!! I am a teacher also and we need so much prayer as well. I have taught for twenty years and it is harder now than it has ever been. I teach third grade and you would not believe how hard life is for some of these kids. They are having to grow up way too fast.
Thank you Beth, as well, for bringing the Word to us teachers. We love you, and we know a good teacher when we see one!!!
Teacher Lady
Beth, I've never commented here before but I love reading your posts and hearing from your heart. I am so thankful for your ministry and how you have followed God's leading for your life. I am praying I would have courage to step out in faith in whatever the Lord might ask of me in the same way (big or small). I just had to tell you, I was watching one of our Bible study sessions online today (A Woman's Heart) since I had to miss going to our group session at church (stayed home with a sick kid). While I was watching, my daughter came in and saw you on screen and asked, "Is that Belle's Mommy? (we've watched "Beauty and The Beast" around here about a hundred times in the last week). I don't know if you take that as a compliment or not but I definitely think it was intended as one! :)
Thought you might get a laugh out of that!
What a fun pic! I have never had the chance to see Priscilla or Lisa. They look like they were having a blast.
Beth, now about your make-up. What is the lipstick you have on? Looking for a pink/wine color...
Thank you so much for the shout out to us homeschooling mama's. I know for alot of us, it is the very will of God for us to be doing this, so it is the very place where the enemy strikes the most. I'm sure that I have the freedom to speak for all of us when I say that we covet your prayers.
I am reading Get Out of That Pit right now, and I have to say, you have nailed it once again.
I know you hear this alot, but I love you sweet Beth, and I am glad that God has used you in the way that He has.
Your sister in Christ,
Gayle
Oh! Loved the picture :)
What a great picture, you are all so gorgeous! But I have to say after meeting you and Priscilla (I wish Kay had been there too) you are even more beautiful in person. The glory of the Lord shines through to make you just radiant!
I get nervous when my husband is present when I speak too. But he is always so supportive and complementary I don't know why I get this way. I guess most of us worry about making sure our man is proud of us. (and in my case that he is not embarrased either)
Wanted to let you know that my group that is studying Daniel continues to grow. All my ladies are just precious and beautiful too. The Lord is the best make-up artist ever!
Love ya sieasta!
Kristi B.
Beth,
Thank you your sweet words at the Deeper Still conference and for following God's lead and encouraging others to do the same. I attended Deeper Still and was touched when you mentioned how Keith refers to the three of you. The term Prissy reminded me a sweet memory of my great Aunt Tonita who now lifes in Heaven. That was her name for me Little Miss Prissy, praise God for this sweet reminder of her!
This fall we started a "Beth Moore Classics" series at our church, which I am leading, To Live is Christ. I am humbled be your sweet reminders of God's words that are truly heart felt. My prayer for the ladies in the study is to have a teachable heart.
Thank you for your obedience to bring the word of God!
Sending you many blessings!
Beth, you have no idea... WOW. ...I am the Home schooling mom you quoted and yes...I have learned that home schooling is 2 words...(ok I think)and the last 48 hours were beyond description.Ever seen God show up so big that it's like you just shake your head and wondered if you dreamt it all?? I half thought to write a testimony but that wouldn't be fair to the blog. I just have to tell you, God showed up HUGE yesterday with a deep pain in my life and I believe so strongly in the power of Prayer. Thanks YOU and my siestas...God heard you...and I am so humbled. To read this blog on any ordinary day is like a lifeline to me and such a sure connection with Christ, and today it was like 50 birthday presents in one and a huge confirmation from God. I just realized you really all are my sisters. Thank you girls. Love you all. Love you Beth,SHELL
So glad about the capris; with these skinny calves they are a big "no-no" for me, so I'm glad you are willing to serve me anyway! :) I love you, Beth!
I look at the picture of you and your friends and I love them with you. I haven't getten to know their hearts as well as yours, but I have a blast imagining your times together are a refreshment and a breather. I think of you ever Tues night as I know you are bringing what the Lord has shown you. It delights me and then I am exhausted for you. Blessings to you and I CANNOT wait to see Esther and seriously I am waiting with anticipation for the Psalms of asscent. I love the way the Lord shows you the Word as I study on my own now I see things so differently as you have passed your love of learning through the TV screen and CD player. GOD is so very creative. Blessings tiff
I hear ya! I would rather sing or speak in front of a hundred people than in front of my hubby. I think I make him nervous when he teaches sunday school also. I think it is because the opinion of those we love is so important to us!
I love me a deal! I don't buy it unless it is on sale! I'm not so good at picking out clothes for myself. I spend it all on the kids. Can you come pick out my clothes? Ha!
One more thing....I homeschooled my son for 3 years and at the beginning when I was doing research I read tons of books on the topic and just finished each one wondering if I could really do this or felt overwhelmed. Lisa's was the only book I read and actually felt encouraged and with a feeling of "I can do this!" For anyone out there considering homeschooling.....you need to read Lisa's book.
Pray for my 8 year old son today. He is sharing a recent experience to about 200 kids in Chapel at the Christian school he attends. Last week, he was dropped off at guitar lessons at his instructor's home. His hair-brained parents forgot that lesssons had been canceled that day. Once Chase (my son) got to the door he realized no one was home. He ran after my husband (with bookbag and lunchbox in tow)
but his dad's truck disappeared over the hill. Chase realized he was alone, in an unfamiliar neighborhood (we are new to the town) and didn't know what to do. So, he dropped to his eight year old knees on the pavement and prayed the following prayer,"God, you have GOT to help me in these DESPERATE times!". He began walking down the hill towards a HIGHWAY in the direction of his school. A few minutes after walking, an elderly woman pulled up beside him and asked him if he needed help. He explained his situation and she knew exactly where his school was located because SHE RECENTLY RETIRED FROM HER WORKPLACE IN A BUILDING DIRECTLY NEXT DOOR TO HIS SCHOOL. She returned him safely, his teacher called his mom (who immediately began to hyperventilate and feel as though she were going to vomit)and we were able to retrieve him immediately. So today Chase is going to stand in front of his peers and tell his story because he experienced first hand God answering a prayer of his immediately. (Thank you Jesus)He told us later , and will tell his school today, that when you don't know what to do, the first thing to do is drop to your knees. Isn't God so great! Despite the apparent inadequacies of his parents, Chase is going to be able to give the glory to God in a big way today. Sorry for the long blog - I just had to share.
By the way, when Chase walked through the lobby of his school after being dropped off by the kind lady, the receptionist asked Chase how he had gotten to school. Chase turned around to point at his rescuer and THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. Still gives me chills....
Ohmagosh, Beth!! This is Jen from WoF! I am still doing Believing God and He is rocking my world!!! I had to tell you this story because I was laughing this morning when I woke up because I had a nightmare last night and in my dream, in the nightmare, I was doing my "I'm Believing God" hand gestures!! I dreamed someone was holding my family hostage and all through the dream every time something would happen, I would shout with my hand one of the five things: "God can do what He says He can do!" or one of the other statements. I had to laugh when I woke up because there all the teaching was, even in my sleep!! I just had to laugh about it and at the same time praise God because it is engrained in me now, even in my sub-conscious obviously! Everyone misses you and Travis and Sabrina at WoF! You are a treasure and God is doing so much in me and my Believing God girls lives! Thank you for bringing His truths to us, and even into my nightmares!! haha

You three are too precious. I hope I get to be half that cute when I grow up. Beth, you should know that outside of a wonderful Bible teacher, I've always looked up to you as a beautiful woman of God and have actually found myself asking "Would Beth wear this?" when I was shopping. You've always done a great job with fashion & modesty. Thank you for the example. It's hard to find them out there these days.
Love the picture. It was Lisa's book that changed my thinking about homeschooling and helped me in my obedience to the Lord as He was calling me to homeschool this year. We moms do need and appreciate your prayers. You girls are precious!
The only thing I can really add is that I love you profusely as well.
Beth, Thanks for sharing that photo. I loved your husband's nick names for the three of you. Haha! I love coming here each day and checking out your blogs. Some of your comments crack me up. Like this one. And a big kudos to all those home schooling moms out there. Y'all have patience and a good heart.
A Note to Joni,
Your account of what happened with your son, Chase, has me sobbing. I love God. What a testimony and what a faith building time for your whole family. Glory!!! Thank you for sharing. It will be one of my favorite stories. I don't mean to gush but it really touched my heart.
Beth, Do you know that everytime I log on to this web site I can't help but smile and praise God profusely for you. You are truly one of my best gifts God has ever given me. Even if you don't know me I want you to know I consider you my long distance good friend and mentor. I love you for all you do.
Kari
I opened the blog as my 5-year old was passing by the computer tonight. She had a fit when she saw the picture. She said, "Momma, I just told everyone in Mission Friends tonight that I know Beth Moore. They were happy to know that she helps kids who need food and water just like we do in Mission Friends." Yet another generation of lives touched...
I LOVED Priscilla Shirer's study, "Discerning the Voice of God". I did it this summer and it was LIFE CHANGING!!!!! And I grew up watching "Blair" on The Facts of Life. How fun, Beth! Great pic!
:)
Love the nicknames! Especially since I am called "Miss Priss" on occasion.
Aren't good girlfriends such a cherished gift from the Father?! They are our chosen sisters.
Oh, you girls are all so cute! Is there like a cuteness factor in whether or not you are called to be a bible teacher, cause I haven't met one who wasn't just adorable! If that's the case, I don't want to be cute. I used to think I wanted to be cute, but if it means speaking I don't want to be cute! In school I was always asked to give speeches cause apparently I was quite good at it. I was in contests and everything. I told people if I had to do that on a regular basis I would dry up and blow away cause I would never eat! I could never eat a thing before I had to speak! My stomach was always in knots. Never again! Anyway, I considered homeschooling at one time. I was crazy. There is no way I could do that. I just want you all to know that life has been pretty stressful for me and my family lately and I've had a migraine since Monday that won't go away. So please pray for me and my family.
Beth,
I just wanted to say thank you. You have no idea how God's word has moved through you to me so that I could hear him more clearly. He has used you to bring me through the deepest trials of my life including my mother dying, battling anxiety, depression, and dealing with my past. Thank you for being so transparent with your life, for it has benefitted many. I am studying the Daniel Bible Study you wrote with a small group of ladies, and I have to say I feel like it is wrapping up some things left untied in my life. Thank you so much for being brave and stepping out in faith to write what God has given to you. May you and yours be abundantly blessed!
Your sister in Christ,
Leslie Reed, WA
Beth , I love you dearly.
I notice you always wear layers ! You must be cold-natured. Cuz I am your age also and due to the ( ahem ) hormonal changes at this time in my life , I am ALWAYS HOT !! I cannot wear cute , layered clothes ! The lady behind me in church on Sunday , said that she's been meaning to bring me a fan she has at home , because she notices I am always hot ! Those are true words.
I forgive you for being cold-natured and able to wear cute layerings when I can't. Especially since you SERVE ME with excellence !!
I ordered some of the 90 Day Devo studies from LPM ( thanks to the contagious excitement from your eldest daughter ! ; ) ) , and I ordered them as gifts ( Christmas gifts. ) And lo & behold ,when they arrived , they were all wrapped with tissue paper individually and had the LPM stickers on them. I know thats a small thing - but that IMPRESSED me. How many people go out of their way to go that extra mile for you anymore ? Not many. So I was touched by that and just that simple , pretty wrapping on each book , caused me to feel loved and like I was a child of God , worthy of His love, and part of a bigger picture - of my eternal siblings in Christ. We stand for something greater , someONE Greater , I really mean. Thank you for ALWAYS treating us with love and respect Beth and LPM Ministry-ers. You gals are awesome.
I love how God is bringing us all together too , via Beth and her studies , her conferences, Blog , email... how He has seen fit to bless your ministry Beth !! I'm so excited about this. What an amazing time we live in.
I love Lisa Whelchel and yes , I too wanted to be BLAIR !! I've not seen Priscilla , but hope too !
I praise God for you homeschooling moms. Wow ! What a work you are doing. Your kids are our nations future leaders. They will know God and family values and will be able to pass on that inheritance . What could be better for our country ?! So , thank you home - schooling mommas !!!
I guess thats all I have to say now. Except come to New Mexico more often !!!!!! : )Mucho X&O's !!
A siesta in New Mexica. ( ho ho ho )
By the way , New MEXICO IS a STATE in the United States. Its the one between Texas and Arizona. ( You'd be surprised how many folks don't know this !! )
XOOXOXOXOXO Love you all !
I will start home-schooling my girls for the first time this Monday...today is their last day of public school...I was starting to feel uneasy, doubting our decision, then "happened to" read this post. Thank you Lord for holding me by the hand when I need it, and using people who don't even realize how they're being used!
Looks like fun! I travel with my friend as she sings and talks on a much smaller scale than you do. I am her entire entourage..her "roadie" and sounding board on the drive to and from her events. I get to sit in the audience and listen to her over and over and over. It is so awesome. I bet that Pricilla and Lisa feel the same way.
Blessed by "work" that doesn't feel like work at all. HUGS!
When people tell "oh, I could never do that" regarding homeschooling, I think about our dear sisters that obeyed their call and chose to minister and teach in the public school system. Now that's something I don't think I could ever do! My prayers are with you and thank you for reaching out to those "little ones" that so need to see Jesus' love for them. Don't we all remember our favorite teacher from way back when!?
Lord bless you!
mk
who is remembering a particular "God-stop" teacher from my childhood!
The people in that picture look so happy. Great smiles!
This picture really made me laugh. You are always telling us how you feel like you really know us and love us. Well, I opened the page and when the picture pulled up I actually said outloud "Oh look, it's beth and Lisa." (only because I have not had the privelage of getting to "know" Priscilla)and I actually had to remind myself that we have never actually all hung out together. You are all just so real and honest I feel like we all are such friends. Thank you for opening your life to us so we can feel this way. It's good to have friends out there, even if we've never met :)
"Prissy, Sissy, and Missy!" LOL!
I am sure there are a few names bestowed upon my siesta Abby and I when we connected in Nashville this week...by certain gentlemen. I'll have to pass that one along!
She is a blessing from this blog. We just chatted in fiery speed over some chips and salsa about our dear Jesus. What a ministry this has been for us.
Thank you so much Beth for the links to Lisa's pages on Homeschooling! (i never even thought about it being one word or two but now that I am thinking about I have no clue- I hope that isn't one of my daughters spelling words). Our family is about to embark on the journey of homeschooling and I am full of fears and doubts but just trusting God will see us through. Reading her page was encouraging to know that there are other families out there stuggling and succeeding along side me.
thanks!
BTW I found my way to your while looking for information on you speaking in Jax FL this coming March, so perhaps God knew what information I really needed.
