Dial Up From the Forest
My Dearest Siestas,
I’m still in the mountains and I only have dial-up so I have no idea whether this post will work. I’m going to give it a try. I’ve been up working on Esther since about 7:15 this morning and decided a few minutes ago to take a break and let my mind rest and rejuvenate. I got on-line which itself can be a feat out here in the middle of the forest. As God would have it, I was able to get on our blog and read many of your comments on the “confidence” post. The tears stung in my eyes as I praised Him for you, amened you, and prayed especially for you who I could tell needed an extra revelation of His Presence. I also marveled over the wonders of God’s timing in causing that simple post to be a clear word to many of you as it had been to me. Surely one of the most marvelous mysteries we encounter as a terrestrial creature redeemed but residing so far from Heaven is the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I bet, like me, you have had times when you felt prompted by the Spirit to do something that turned out to be your imagination or an embarrassingly stupid misinterpretation. Or, worse yet, big mistake. Like the time I told a friend whose loved one was in a coma that I felt God had told me He was about to take the loved one Home…and, coincidentally, no sooner had I shared the prophecy than she woke right up. She’s still alive and well many years later and will most certainly outlive me just to spite me. I’m laughing so hard I can hardly keep my laptop still. I don’t know why. I guess because we’re just so danged absurd sometimes, aren’t we?
One of my favorite stories a funny and humble friend of mine told me was about the time she awakened to hear the Scripture reference Philippians 6:13 in her heart over and over. She described how it echoed louder and louder within her like she imagined the voice of God beckoning young Samuel from his bed. She rose to see what personal revelation God would have for her, His dear servant, in that surely profound passage only to find that Philippians ended at the fourth chapter. We both laughed until we cried. I’ve never forgotten the point of that story and have tried since to keep an appropriate measure of tentativeness about what I felt God was revealing to me until it was confirmed or affirmed.
So, aren’t we all taken aback by the wonder that we – stiff of neck and stuffed of ear - really did hear from God on occasion? Oh, the mercy and tenacity of God to make Himself heard amid the clamor and clang of our attention deficit culture and self-absorbed souls! And, oh, to love Him more!
Thank you so much for praying for me to have a fruitful time here in the mountains. God has answered your prayers in a multitude of ways. Not only have I had wonderful times with Him in His Word and am well on my way to meeting my work goal for these four days. He has also greatly refreshed this overheated south Texan with cool forest air, bright yellow aspens, and the warm company of a few good friends who I only get to enjoy here. It’s rainy and chilly today and the only noise right now is the crackling of a fire Keith made a few hours ago before he packed up his tackle box. He trudged through the sagebrush down to the river nearby to do a little fly fishing. Yes, in the rain. He’s a beast. I’m going to study today then later this afternoon we’re planning to grab our binoculars and take a drive to a few of our secret spots in Teton Park where God sometimes puts wild treasures on display for us. Our goal today is some big bull elk. This is the time of year when their antlers are enormous and their distinctive bugling will stand the hair on the back of your neck straight up. I dig looking for wild game as much as Keith. I totally love hunting as long as no guns are involved. God may show us a host of delights this afternoon but even if I only see that handsome, lined face of my rugged man of 28 years on the other side of that front seat, the trip will be terrific.
A few random things before I sign off and hope this blog entry takes:
*Amanda, Curt, and Jackson are going to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas today to eat their annual Fletcher’s Corny Dog (it’s a religious experience for AJ) and to see Boyz II Men.
*When Keith put on his wading boots to fish yesterday, he could not get his right foot in the end of the shoe because something appeared to be stuffed in it. When he turned the boot over to beat on the heel and knock it out, two dead mice fell out on the garage floor.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
I love you.

Goodness gracious Beth, 2 dead mice, what a way to end a post lol:)
I am glad you are finding so much time to just sit and concentrate on our savior as well as those who followed in His footsteps:)
It's a rainy day here in FL, but it makes it so much better when you just picture its the Holy Spirit raining down:)
(Trying hard to picture that!)
Be Blessed Siestas:)

Wow! I truly thought it was surely because I was hopelessly spiritually immature!!! It makes my day to know that I'm not the only one who ever looked up a passage that didn't even exist. I love you dear Beth, so much. Thank you for showing us again and again that God is great AND has a sense of humor. EWWW and MICE!!???!???EEEEEKKKK.
Oh and we love you too Ms. Beth!
I smiled the entire time I read this just thinking of how truly awesome our God is. I mean truly awesome! Is there another word for amazing that I can't come up with right now??
I know you have had a glorious time in the mountains. I got teary-eyed when you said you would be just thrilled if all you saw was your man on the other side of the fence. Ya'll are just so sweet. You inspire me as a wife to have a heart for my husband like you do. We need encouragement in this rough world we live in.
Thanks for loving us. We all just love you right back.
Praying with you and for you!
Your siesta,
Fran
Beth- Thank you so much. Your encouragement and words always come at just the right time. I praise Him for using you to get through to me.
Praying that He would give us all "confidence" to keep on "working out" what He promises to complete and make perfect,
Heather
I was with you all the way up to the mouse remarks -- b/c, serve me up snakes, spiders, and any other creepy crawlers, but just DO NOT head in the direction of RODENTS!!! I'm sure I'd rather meet a massive bugling bull elk rampaging his way through the forest than two dead mice in the bottom of a boot.
Oh well, Beth, you beat all.
Have fun with Keith and Esther,
lots of love,
Warm in Alaska.
How funny and REAL about your word from God and your friend's "scripture"! Here's mine: After a scary pregnancy and the c-section delivery of our 2 lb, 10 week premature baby, I was on the operating table. They had just whisked her to the nursery and I was scared and violently shaking uncontrollably. I prayed and prayed, and suddenly it happened! A calm, warm feeling started at my head and went all the way to my feet. The shaking completely stopped. Wow! I had heard others say the Lord had caused this to happen to them, but had NEVER experienced such a thing. Just as I started praising Him, and the anestheologist said, "You should really be feeling really good...I just gave you a big slug of happy medicine!!" Ha Ha Ha! Sometimes He does it supernaturally and sometimes he uses medicine.
love you and praying for you.
Pictures! Send us pictures of God's country and all the nature in it!!
Wouldn't mind seeing little Jackson with a corny dog to gnaw on!!
May God bless you in your tireless journey of scripture.
Hi Beth! How wonderful of you both to see God's creatures in their element! Please post some photos if you can of them. And glad you are getting much needed refreshing air. It's finally cooling just a bit here in the evenings and early mornings.
Oh Beth I don't comment often as I know you have so many things to read. I adore you! You have brought such hope to me through the words of your tetimonies!! The current ones that I also seem to have on a continual basis. Yes you know many say that you are close to their best friend even though you have never met them. You share my heart in so many ways and my husband is almost a duplicate of your Keith.(Rugged and genuine) I believe you called him your renegade man at one time. Marriage is not easy and we being married for 12 years seem so similar to when you speak of raising young children and where your marriage struggled at that time. Well I guess I just really wanted to let you know that I love you. In the midst of trying to walk in ministry and keep a house of growing children in order and balance I sure wish I could share a cup of coffee with you as I do so many in need of their own Titus woman! None the less I get to sit with the things the Lord writes on the pages of your heart through scripture and for that I am grateful. Bless you today and Praise the Lord for this HOT day in Tesas! Is it ever going to break?
You are so precious, thinking of us and encouraging us while you are still so hard at work and trying to rest in between! Thank you so much.
I had a dream a couple of nights ago. You were giving a conference in the area and I offered to let you stay at my parents place while they were gone so you could get rest since the house would be empty. Leave it to me though. Even in my dream, and even with my heart wanting nothing but peace and rest for you, I still found ways to muck it up. I didn't want to go over and wake you up and bother you in any way so I called on the phone. As the phone rang I realized I had done exactly what I was trying to avoid. I'm hopeless! I'm the prime reason a person like you needs a motel room. And buffers from fans who would kill them with kindness. Sheesh.
As for hearing the "Word of God", and not knowing if the discomfort is from not wanting to obey or actually a warning not to pursue something further--that's an interesting thing. I love that you gave those stories. I thought I was the World Class Buffoon of Misinterpretation, alone in my field. Once in my past nursing career I saw a doting husband taking such loving care of his wife. I love to encourage people when I see something that blesses me but I felt a hesitation in saying something to them. I attributed it to cold feet on my part since day after day I had delayed saying anything. Finally I decided to make a leap of faith and let them know so off I went on a short speech about how wonderful it was to see such a loving marriage. The man looked up at me with an incredulous look and told me quietly that the woman was his *mother*. I could have died. It's been well over 15 years and it still curdles my grits to think of it.
MICE? TWO DEAD MICE?
I would never have recovered.
Great post! Becky at The Butler's Wife sent me to this post because of my recent adventures with mice:

HAHAHAHA i am loving this...
"i totally love hunting as long as no guns are involved" --looks like God answered that prayer-->Mr. Keith got 2 good ones, and his shoes did all the work!!
what a blessing for you to write and tell us that our prayers for your work are being answered--and on time for your deadlines!! :)
and GIRL--us youngins are on the ball planning for this siesta fiesta...we've got a hotel room full of us from at least 3 different states! it will no doubt be the longest year of our lives.... ;)
love you!
Yay the dial-up worked! What a great surprise to hear from you from the Tetons! You're in the most beautiful part of this great state, but then, you knew that. How can anyone see those mountains and not believe in a loving Creator? LOVED the stories. That's why we all love you, Beth, you're just so real. Continued blessings and time of refreshment while you're here in Wonderful Wyoming!
Isn't technology great? There may be some negative aspects to the Internet but it certainly can be used for good too.
I am a sanguine personality and yet at this time in my life, I am helping my entrepreneur husband with a new technology company. It involves lots of alone time on my computer. I would rather be going out to lunch with my friends but I believe this is where the Lord would have me to be during this season of my life.
I have subscribed to your blog and it is one of several on my Home Page so I get to see when a new post has been added. I look forward to reading each one. I also just completed your Daniel study (which I loved) and was able to do so by downloading the sessions from Lifeway onto my computer. These resources have been such a blessing for me as I work alone from home. Thank you for making them available.
Enjoy your time in the mountains and may the Lord bless you abundantly Beth. You have blessed me. Thank you.
Debbie
Dear Beth,
I wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your Blog posts before, but so much more since attending the Bible Study in Houston this past week. The word you shared on Tuesday night was, to my amazement, so appropriate for where I am in this season. The one time this girl from Atlanta got to be there in person, and it was as though you planned the lesson with me in mind. Thank you for setting an example for this young teacher to look up to--one of remaining faithful, remaining teachable, and remaining humbly dependent. Thank you for taking the time out of your unbelievably busy schedule to communicate via this blog. Blessings!!

Two dead mice?! THAT IS SO STINKIN' GROSS!
Love you,
Kristi
PS...Pray for our church. The secretary's son fell from a tree early Thursday morn., broke his neck and was ushered straight into God's presence. He has a wife and two young boys. The two boys he was climbing with are his brand new, baby Christian nephews. Please, would you pray for them?
love you!
Dear Beth,
I'm glad that you are enjoying your mountain retreat, it sounds wonderful! I had to laugh at the two dead mice falling out of Keith's boot...that is too funny! And your friend's Phil. 6:13 revelation! Anyway, I really needed a laugh today. Thank you!
Love your Siesta,
Kathleen
Dearest Beth,
I have never met you and yet it feels like I've known and loved you all my life...there's just no other way to say it. My hubby just took off with waders and pole in hand. Enough said !
Cindy
So glad you are having such a wonderful time!! I am praying for some elk to inspire and bless you both.
My friend Mer at Life at 7000 feet (who happens to live 5 minutes away from me--http://coloradoblases.blogspot.com/2007/09/wonderful-weekend.html) posted some pictures in Estes Park of Elk and a "Bar" (That's bear in Arkansan...Beth will understand).
Now how did those mice get there...how DID they die...and did they crunch when he put his foot in??
Love ya much!
Holly
Beth - can I ask you - how do you really know? I often worry that I THINK I am hearing His voice but it's just my vain imagination? I too have had those non existant verses in my mind? Sometimes that confuses me when I am so desperate to hear from Him.
I often tell Him that I don't want to believe what I think is spoken in my mind I need to hear it from His word. For the past few months a verse keeps coming to me in many ways, it doesn't say specifics but just change is ahead. I fear it's me and I'm hoping it's Him - I want to believe (I've taken Believing God - amazing) so I want practise that kind of believing - but I don't want to be deceived either? Oh I'm rambling It's just that I'm desperate to be so close and so in tune with Him so that when He has something to say I know it - I long to be familiar with His voice.
Sorry for rambling - love you for sharing - you bless me lots
OH MY!! Two dead mice!! Yikes!! I love how God does speak to us and through us at the most unlikely times. I just loved the story about Phil 6:13. I bet God had a good laugh at that one too!!
Blessings Beth and continued prayers for your time to be fruitful. Fruitful with your studies, with your Man, and with your friends!
Much love,
I am now craving a hunting trip such as you describe. Up here in PA there is a place with elk about 3 hours from home. We make an annual trek to see them every fall. Thanks for sharing a bit of your trip and I love the boot story! HA!!!
I love you too! More than I can express! at least on this side of heaven :)
Praying and lifting your time and that rugged man of yours up to the Father...God is smiling on YOU!
HIS encouragement has come through you once again..Praise HIM! Love you Jesus!
Beth,
Your last post was one I had to print out because I knew that I was going to have to read it over and over, both for the encouragement and that push that it is. Then with this one, I've been stopped in my tracks again. In regard to hearing God, I've been making myself crazy lately--so consumed with a sense of failure to hear Him. The result has been confusion and frustration and self-absorption, etc... I've been a mess. Still am. Trying to climb out of it. And feelin' a little puny, you know? If you compelled to do so, please pray for me.
Thanks.
Elaine in TX
Beth- I thank God for you! I'm happy to hear that the writing goal has been met and I absolutely cracked up hysterically at the last sentence of your post!
Beth, thank you so much for letting our Father use you. I have started my first Bible study by you, "A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place" and it is blowing me away. I just completed my week one homework today. The thought of God pursuing me is overwhelming. I have been a Christian for many years, but I need to see more how much
God loves me, how much He wants to fellowship with me. Sometimes,--anyhow this is what I need right now in my life. Thanks for being real (the mice) LOL and for helping me fall in love with my God more.
Beth,
Your posts always make me smile.
I treasure the ones with nuggets of truth God gives you to share - but also delight in your stories of plain ol' real life! I pray you get to see your elk this afternoon. My second born son at a Bible school out in the Rockies has heard/seen several in recent days!
Indeed God reveals His glory in creation through His majestic beasts of the forests (and fields!)
Blessings on your sweet soul!
ROFL!! Beth you are too funny Siesta!!
Thank you for sharing your heart, it is as instructive to hear about your successes as it is your mistakes. Your transperancy is a blessing.
I am so glad God is refreshing and renewing your spirit as He also enables you to get the work at hand accomplished, He is so good!
God Bless you and keep you sweet Beth,
Debbie in CA
I'm new to blogging but oh so excited about it!! I am so thankful to God for the way He is using you and the insight He is ever giving you, Beth! My friends and I started 90 days with Jesus, The One and Only, about 3 weeks ago and WOW!! I'm so touched by my Savior and feel like I'm knowing Him in a new and deeper way - EVERYDAY. God is also using Wednesdays with Beth, to teach me SO MANY THINGS! I'm learning how to be filled to the measure with HIM alone. I wasn't expecting some of the issues that have risen to the surface by being filled to the measure with Christ each day. I naively thought that it would just be blissful - you know?? Well, let me just say that when you pray and ask God to let the light and truth of His Holiness surface any impurities in your life He does EXACTLY that!! I have to admit that I was a little taken aback at first, but then I realized by being filled to the measure each day with HIM was the only way I could let HIM skim these impurities out of my life - or should I say DIG these things out of my life. Some of these things I didn't even realize were there!! I probably need to say that alot of these "things" are rooted in pride. I find pride in the middle of most things in my life that shouldn't be there. All of that to say this - God is Good, Faithful and True. I'm ever grateful for faithful servants who are yielded to my Savior and share what they have learned and are learning with others like me. Thank you God and thank you Beth. He is my Life and you are truly a blessing!!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and obeying the Spirit. My son is going through a terrible time in college. He's a senior and may even be facing expulsion for something stupid he did. He is a precious, godly young man and he is devastated. I shared the verse "So do not throw away your confidence, because it has great reward. For you need endurance in order to do God's will and so receive what is promised." along with your thoughts with him and it ministered to him and to me. Thank you. My husband is on a church staff and our church is close to voting on relocating to continue growing...so you can imagine the angst involved with that! So, thank you for sharing your thoughts. They mean a lot to me. I am praying for you as you work on Esther.
It's ht in Arkansas and I envy your Teton's.
Mice? You crack me up! You know we want more....
Thanks for making me laugh! So good to know I'm not the only one who's ever acted on what was thought was the prompting of the H.S., only to be proved wrong!:) And, if I wasn't in the middle of doing Living Beyond Yourself, I might be just a little envious of your cabin in the woods. ;) Have a great weekend!
K.P. in La.
Beth,
I'm praying for you. May God reveal more to you than you could ever imagine in your wildest dreams and may you and your man have a wonderful time together as you enjoy God's beautiful outdoor design.
~Cheryl
From your fingers to our eyes.....your post did make it! So glad to catch up on you, Keith, Esther. Lately I've been too bogged down with life to blog but it's so refreshing to get caught up on what has been happening in SiestaLand. Many blessings of big elk antlers to you both! May we all drink in the beauty of nature all around us wherever we are. Tootles, Jill
Thank You Lord for pouring Your message out as Beth writes, Lord give her clarity and wisdom as she studies and writes.
I pray Keith had a blast fishing and I pray they saw much of your wondrous creation in the form of wildlife today.
Please continue to protect them and surround them with Your angels. Bring them safely back to Houston.
And Lord, please keep ladies from running over so many orange cones Tues night. In Jesus' Name I pray.
Annette
I have to say it was just awesome experience to read a post from "the holy zone"!
There's one for dial-up!
Oh, I thought I had some profound comment to make until you wrote those magical words--two dead mice...better Keith than you, my dear one. We're watching sunrises at a Mexican beach and you're taking in the beautiful cool aspens in the mountains--isn't God huge! See you Tuesday. Love, Annette
Boyz II Men? They're still around? I hope they're fully men by now! They were around when I was in high school. Believe me that makes them OLD! Okay, maybe not horribly old, but old enough. I listened to the classic rock station a few years ago, because I couldn't get anything else where I was and it was the most depressing experience of my life. Songs that were popular NEW songs when I was in high school were being played on there. It was a horrifying reality check. I hate those reminders that I'm not as young as I feel. My body reminds me now and then that I'm not as young as I think I am. It's so good to hear from you, Beth. I would've completely understood if you ignored us for the week. Sometimes we have to do that. Ignore everyone else for a while. Not because we don't like them, just because we need to silence some of those voices a little, so we can clearly hear God. I hope you know what I mean.
I have just spent about two hours typing out my notes from your Deeper Still session, Beth. I am tired. But it was so good to refresh my mind with your Word for me! I pray that you would write many WORDS for all of us as you finish this study. Thank You so much, Wonderful God for the ministry for women through your much-loved servant, Beth Moore. Bless her socks off and keep her from dead mice! In Jesus Name. Amen.
I can relate to this post. I am a Wyoming country girl and all we have here in the boonies is dial up. That is, until I can convince hubby to get satelite internet. We have the blessing of being minutes from the mountains and just the other day were into a bunch of elk bugling like crazy! It is an awesome thing to hear in real life. God has created some magnificent, majestic animals in elk. It's funny I feel like I could just step out my door and call for you to come on over even though we are on the other side of the state! LOL
This blog has been a blessing to me and thanks for encouraging us mothers. I am finding it hard to get my time in the word like I used to. I have a 3 yr old and a 6mo old. I am a SAHM but things are so busy, I just haven't found the right "groove" yet. It's just a phase I tell myself this regularly. ;)
Have a blessed time while you're here in big WY!
~Misty
Beth,
You make me laugh and you make me love my God so much. I am constantly taken aback by the wonder of God. By his persistant pursuit of man and his willingness to speak to us. To watch us stumble and fall and still extend both arms and say try again my child. His mercy , his grace and his love for us seems too much at times to grasp. Who are we that he is even mindful of us and yet he doesn't just think about us , he engraves our names in the palms of his hands, he rejoices over us with singing. With tears in my eyes I am overwhelmed at his goodness. I go to my knees and say Sweet Jesus, your servant is listening , speak. Open my ears and my heart to hear your heavenly voice over all the noise of life here on earth.Bless you Beth. You let your light so shine that I just stop and praise my Father in Heaven. Isn't he just the greatest!!!!!
Stacey
Dear Beth,
Thank you again for such a wonderful inspiration of words. I am glad to here that your time away is both productive and refreshing. My prayers are that the rest of your time there will be a true blessing for both you and your husband, as I am sure your study of Esther will be to many of us.Thanks for being so honest and open with all of us.
Beth you had me in tears (again) and then I thought I would well, puke when you told us about the mice!!!! YUCK and yuck. Thank you for taking the time during your work weekend - don't worry, still nice and warm with a touch (haha) of humidity here in the big H . . . bring the cool air and crisp fall weather back home with you please. Leaves changing colors - what's that??? Fire in the house??? You have to be kidding!
I'm giggling (out loud) in the library right now over the Philippians 6:13 moment!
Oh how humbled I am at His grace over my hard-headed life.
Uhm...and as for the 2 dead mice...Mrs. Beth, I'm not really sure how to respond to that one either. (AAGGGHHH!)
On my heart...and you are taken before Him who sits on the Throne! Praise His Glorious Name!
Hi Beth, yeaterday's post was just what I was in need of at this time. The enemy has been trying to destroy my confidence in my Jesus. It seems here lately that when I'm in need of a word from the LORD that you always have a way of knowing and God uses you to be his voice. I am so excited to get into that Esther study. I'll be praying for you as you continue this work and hope you enjoy your time away with Keith. These times are few and precious. My husband and I just got back from a trip to the beach ALONE for the first time in 31 years! We're in ministry also and need that time together. Have a wonderful Lord's day, Carla
What a delight to hear from you!! I am so happy that God is blessing your writing. You have mad writing skillz!! :o) What a wonderful place to get away and write and to have your hubby with you. Ahh, a crackling fire. I can't wait to use our fireplace. Enjoy the rest of your time at the cabin. Oh, there is nothing like a corndog from the fair!! Ewwww on the mice. I can't wait to hear the delights God showed to you!! I am still overjoyed at the Rhema word I received from your confidence post. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Love You,
Patty
My husband and I love discovering the Lord's amazing critters in the woods of West Virginia where we are from originally. Nothing brings us closer to Him or to each other than a walk among His wonderful creation. I hope you had a fruitfull encounter with nature today.
I am in awe of the way the Lord gives us just what we need at just the right time! I have been facilitating the Daniel study and boy has He shown up in a mighty way! We ARE having the ride of our lives. Thank you for being available so that He may speak through you. Can't wait for the Ester study!
Hope the Jones had a great time at the Fair. Ours starts here in Raleigh soon and I am salivating for a hot, buttery, elephant ear.
As for the mice, all I have to say is eeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww.
Love ya
Kristi B.
I'm so glad to know that I'm in good company for the times I've been sure I heard God's voice only to find out I didn't. Oh, it's humbling.
And I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one married to someone who is likely to find two dead mice in a boot.
I could have done without the mice story....ewwww!
Beth, I always find myself being blown away at how God uses you in such extraordinary ways to reach the multitudes of siestas that participate in your studies, read your books or read your blog. I also find myself encouraged that He LONGS to use each of us in extraordinary ways if we follow your lead and keep ourselves surrendered before Him, ready vessels. That is how your "confidence" post touched me; I mustn't lose heart and confidence, but stay surrendered and expectant of the fulfillment of His purpose and ministry for my life. Bless you sister-friend...you and your mountain man and the wildlife abundant!
Well, Praise the Lord it was just mice and not a snake. You scared me there for a minute - I thought it was gonna turn into a snake story.
I pray that your mind and heart will be overflowing with words straight from Him who IS the Word. I always say we cannot separate the God from His Word because they are One according to John 1:1. To spend time in the word is to spend time with God Himself.......I pray your time with Him will be sweetly blessed.
Oh yeah, just to clarify my snakes comment. I have an extremely unhealthy fear of those nasty little creatures. It goes back to the garden.....my grandfathers garden when I was little seemed to have lots of those little green snakes in it. I am terrified - I probably need counseling ! hahaha
I love you, too, Beth!
Thank you.
It is so good to hear from you and glad you're having such a good time!
It was a beautiful day here in Oklahoma (except my Sooners lost):(
Today my sister and I drove two and a half hours away to spend the day with our almost 92 year old grandma. She made us soup and cornbread! We had such a special day with her and a very special time traveling together.
While I was gone today, my man was out in the woods putting his deer stand up in a tree and was cutting some branches and a limb hit his head. He bled quite a bit, but thankfully he was ok and he didn't have to have stitches. He is such an avid fisherman and hunter. I can totally see him dumping a mouse or God knows what else out of his boots.
Just wanted to thank you for thinking of us and for reading our posts. You are one special lady who has taught me to just be real with my God. I was cracking up at your story about the person in a coma.
Continue to have a wonderful time in the mountains. Tell Keith hello. Love, Valerie
P.S. Please pray for so many members in my church & friends & family who are suffering from all kinds of attacks. I've heard just about enough discouraging news lately.
Just knew it was Jackson's toy in Keith's boot and GASPED when the word was MICE...but what really took my breath away was that at this very moment my good God is giving you His sovereign Word for me and for all of us bloggers and for those yet to believe who will find the Esther study in their hands and that makes me awestruck in this moment of time. I'm in your Esther study right now---to think He's speaking to you in Colorado for me in Texas tonight! This past year God has opened your mouth and filled it with such hope and encouragement to me Psalm 81:10. God gave me as He says in Hosea 2:14-16 a door of hope through your studies for no longer do I call him Master, but now I call Him my Husband OR at least I want to with all my heart. For my beautiful God wooed me in my wilderness, allured me into my desert and He used you there in Daniel and Loving Well and The Patriarchs big time this year to do just that. We are praying and trusting with you for His words, Psalm 45:1, that you will be stirred by the noble theme of Esther, her king, and your King. May your tongue be the pen of a skillful writer, your lips anointed with grace, as you pour out your heart for all of us to our King Who is shaping this moment the river within you into words.
The only thing worse than having two dead mice fall out of your waders is having three dead mice fall out of your waders.
Although something tells me Keith wasn't fazed in the least. What are a couple of dead rodents after all God has shown you?
(And hopefully, that includes bull elk tonight.)
My husband went in the garage Thursday for something. He found the rubber coating on the end of his hammer nibbled away. He decided right then to clean out and organize the garage. Something I've prayed for - the cleaning NOT the vermin! Now we have 2 nice little traps set to hopefully take care of the vermin. = )
Sorry, but I could have really done without the two dead mice story :(
Can I ask for a prayer? I am really needing a word from God and I've been on my knees begging and pleading for over a week now for some guidance and I'm just not getting anything. I could really use some prayers for direction from Him, but right now I'll settle for a lesson on listening. I'm so insanely jealous that so many of you get clear words from God when all I seem to hear is garbledy-goop.
Thanks for keeping it real! I am so glad that God looks at what is on the heart and knows how things will be because I have done some of the most foolish things in ministry. I am thankful for the mercy on my life that I have been able to grow and make mistakes. It is so easy to be so critical of others and just write people off for not being perfect. When you have been an idiot like me it is hard to write people off. Also, I love how the disciples were unschooled ordinary men. I looked up the word ordinary and it is the word idiota...they were idiots to but people took note that they had been with Jesus! SO glad that you are having a good time and getting some good time with THE MAN and your MAN! Love to all my siestas!
I am glad you are getting some Relaxation and time with God...I am also glad that your man is getting some much needed "mountain-time" and fishing that all men need. I am jealous- a FIRE?? Oh, what i'd give for some crisp, cool air here in humid, muggy Houston!! Praise Him for wonderful weather for you!
I love you!
I did not leave a comment the other day about the encouragement I got from that scripture passage but I forwarded your post to my husband at work and told him how much I needed to hear that that day! How amazing our God is!!! Have a great time up there-and check your shoes BEFORE you put your foot in! (a good lesson for life in general, doncha think :)?)
If the inside of those boots are able to kill mice, it may be time for new boots, or you might want to consider marketing the stuff.
On another note, thank you for being so transparent. So many times I think that I am following God's will, only to wind up in Egypt. Then, I waste a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong, or what is wrong with me. It is good to hear that others, whom I consider spiritual mentors, sometimes take that same path. Maybe I am okay after all.
Also, thank you for the scripture and encouragement on "confidence". I won't go into detail about my situation but your message came right on time!
Thanks for all that you give to us for Him.
Melissa
Dear Friend, That's what you are to me and my gals, even if we have never meet you. Yesterday, I called my friend Cindy, and told her to read the blog. I told her it was written just for her. And it was! It's amazing...You have had a profound impact on our lives and I'm sitting here in front of my computer , reading and laughing, as if I got an email from an old friend. We are off to see Pricilla on the weekend. I will give a full report! Blessings, Ann
Oh Beth!!!
I love you, I love you, I love you!! You are just so real!...and such an inspiration to this little Yankee in CT...hey, if you ever want to see some really AWESOME color of God's creation; you are welcome to come visit me anytime in October!!! You'd love God's artistry along the CT River!! (First/second week is peak :-)
hugs,
helene
Ah Beth, it is no wonder I love you like a younger sister. It is so good to know that you too struggle to hear God's voice. I have such a hard time being sure whether or not it is Him over the cacaphony of outside noises and my own overly-active imagination. I have made some real humdingers of mistakes thinking I had surely had a word from the Lord!
Yes, it is truly miraculous when we really do hear and even more so that He deigns to speak to us. I am so amazed by His love.
I envy you that nice cool weather (yeah - I know I'm not supposed to do that). It is still rather warm here in south Texas. Perhaps you could send a cool front this way?
Blessings on your time. I pray it is productive and just plain fun.
Beth, ew on the mice, but I am a little jealous of the tetons. My sweet hubby took me there two years ago, and I joked that only a man would want to vacation in a place called the "TETONS"... :-) But I fell in love with those mountains and cannot wait to return there. Though I'll skip the trip to Snow King mountain (the ski lift/sightseeing tour). Let's just say if you want to tow anything, an Old Navy denim jacket will be strong enough to hold it! :-) It got hooked on the lift when I tried to get off, and drug me with it. Thank you Jesus for that safety stop. No injuries to anything but my pride, but hubby was impressed that if he needed to tow anything, he could use my jacket. :-)
Enjoy your time my dear. I'm off to the bookstore first thing Monday to get 90 days with My one and only... I need it my frieind. Love your heart!
We love you too...all of us Siestas do! So did you and Keith give those mice a proper burial? Here in the Arizona desert, you would be smart to hit your shoes together before putting them on. Scorpions are common and like to hide inside. The bad part is that they're usually not dead.
Yes, I've had times when I misinterpreted the Holy Spirit and made some really foolish mistakes. Those moments fade into the background though when I reflect on one time in particular when I was prompted to "not miss out on the blessing." I wasn't feeling like going on a weekend choir trip to Mexico. Another young mom who was becoming a dear friend to me kept encouraging me to go and asked me to room with her. I was almost ready to not go but kept hearing, "Don't miss out on the blessing." Long story made very short, I went on the trip and enjoyed many wonderful, deep conversations and times of prayer with my friend. When we returned home on Sunday evening, I was walking to my car to head home. I was prompted again to go back and give my friend a big hug. I did so. The next evening at around dinner time, I received a call that she had been called home to be with the Lord. I would have missed the blessing had I stayed at home that weekend. I'm so glad I didn't!
I want to see pictures too Beth but please no mice... LOL I LOVE YOU SIESTA!
I have a similar experience except it was a rollerblade boot and the momma mouse was still alive, with little hairless/eyes not open yet babies...oh, it was so very sad! I thought about writing a childrens story about it because we sort of shook the daylights out of the boot and the momma went running in circles out of fear and actually left her babies for good. We tried to set the babies sompelace warm, but I think they froze. Hmmmm, not such a great childrens story after all, pretty much a nightmare for soft hearted animal lovers!
Your time in the mountains sounds amazing! God bless you!
Dear Beth,
The two dead mice would have sent me over the edge. I am not a critter person, and we are fighting a raccoon who is eating all of the pears on my pear tree! He knocked on the front door tonight and I almost had a heart attack!
Praise God that He has given you what I call "thoughtful" weather: chilly and rainy. There is no desire to go out for a long walk and put off the writing you need to do and spend the time you need to spend with Him. Your beloved mountains are near where our daughter lives in Driggs, Idaho near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. You can see the Grand Tetons from most of the rooms in her house. It is starkly beautiful and goes forever. She was in cashmere sweaters in August while we were sweltering in 95-100 degree weather in the South.
All I'll say about your almost dead friend waking up and being very alive today is I am still laughing!!! I can't even confess my stupidest mistake....all in the name of God....but I had to confess to my senior minister and God and repent. Five of us were involved, and now we collapse into gales of laughter if just one of us brings it up. So hallelujah! that the Lord gives us a sense of humor to laugh at ourselves in our mistakes.
Your whole post had me in hysterics! Thank you for this, because we have been mourning the loss of a good friend who was killed in an automobile accident late Wednesday afternoon, and today was the funeral. Laughter makes us know that life goes on and God heals broken hearts.
Keep writing, dear friend. I know you will be greatly inspired by the beauty of God's work all around you. God bless and much love!
Beth,
We arrived home today from the other side of the world, literally, where we've been for 10 days and as I laid in my own sweet bed not able to sleep, all the worries for my troubled 19 year old began to push forward to my mind. "Why aren't You helping him, Lord? Why must he suffer for my mistakes?" Anyway, since I couldn't sleep, I came downstairs to catch up on the blog and He said to me to just Hold on. Keep believing. Never give up on the love and power of the cross. Thank you for the post and may He bless your time away.
Kathy
Beth, Thanks so much for allowing God to use you and giving all the credit back to Him. It's refreshing to see someone allowing God to do great things through them, but then they give the glory right back where it belongs. You are loved.
Pattygirl
I am praying for you while you are in the mountains. I thank you for seeking God for the message He will want me to hear in the future. I know it will be timely for me. Thanks for listening to Him, I know it will be exactly what I need.
Well, I guess the old adage "men are hunters and women are gatherers" is true. My man of 44 years hasn't gotten to fish or hunt much yet as of this date. So true to form he has been out at the swimming pool "hunting" frogs that have gotten in and "fishing" them out with our net. Ha!Ha! I love that man so!!! He is going on a big fishing trip the end of October so maybe he will get his fix. I love you so much, my sister in Christ!!! Keep up the good writing.
Dear Beth! How I needed this reminder about not rushing to assume I've heard God's voice.
And I must say, my goodness you make me laugh.
Chris in Canada
I always find that just when I think I know what God is saying to me for the day (or even the hour or minute) it usually ends up being exactly the opposite! While the enemy would have me believe that I am "spiritually challenged", I find that it only makes me dig that much deeper into His Word and seek Him even more for clarification. I have come to love the Holy Surprises Jesus sends my way even if it points out how my interpretation skills are lacking.Praise God for keeping me on my toes at all times!
Beth - you are such an inspiration. I love your engery and passion for the Lord. You have made me a better Christian in the way I read the Word and pray to our Father. Your posts are wonderful and your insight even better. Thank you for giving me such hope and understanding of God and His plan for my life.
I'm looking forward to seeing you next August in Louisville. You don't know me, but you are a such a big part of my life and I have learned so much about the bible through you than I ever knew I could.
Have a blessed time in the mountains and a safe trip home.
Layla
I am THRILLED your time has been awesome! YEAH! I have been praying for you! I get to go to Colorado on Thrusday for the Captivating Retreat (John and Stasi Eldridge) have any of you all been? I am so excited I am about to POP...I am going by myself (which I never do- I am usually so friend dependent... plus I am not crazy about flying) but it will be SO worth it to be with Jesus in the fresh mountain air! Oh I am in need of a retreat! : ) It is still so hot here too!
I thank you too about the "confidence" post I have always struggled with confidence in general...and boy does Satan have a hay day with me if I have followed through with something I thought the Holy Spirit was promting me to do! I needed that word especially this past weekend! Thank Jesus for your perfect timing!
Hope you enjoyed you corn dog Amanda! Yum!
God Bless all my precious Siestas! Emmy : )
TWO DEAD MICE!!! Don't tell me that Keith still put those boots on!!! EEEeeewwwwwwww
Can't wait to hear what delights God places in your path today. Praying it is not a bear!!! ;o)
Prayers continue for you and the work being done on Esther.
Beth, I am praying for you and for your time there in the mountains! And I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not...but I was thinking...what if those mice had been alive when Keith tried to put that shoe on?! They might have run right on up his pants leg! Dead or alive...two mice is just too many for me! Be brave, girl!
One thing I loved about reading all the responses to the last blog is that not only is it awesome to think that the Lord would use us to bless others or deliver a message of hope or encouragement, but also it is so amazing how He can take one little message and touch so many different lives all at the same time. I was humbled by the diversity of circumstances women are facing, and blessed to know that He cared enough to speak to each one as though they were the only one listening.
Beth, it's Sunday. You're always giving to us, and now I want to give back. Here's my prayer for today:
Let Me Be Blind Today
I ask for blindness, Lord, as I come before You in worship. You, more than I, know my frame.
I am a writer, so You know I love words! It would be so easy for me to be caught up in the eloquence of my pastor's words.
I am a person with valuable personal experiences to share, so it would be easy for me to deify my own experiences.
I'm a musician, so it would be natural for me to be swept away by the musical ecstasy offered to You this morning.
Today, as I sit in this pew, save me from the worship of eloquent words, the deification of my own experiences, and the distraction of even the most sacred musical ecstasy.
I am grateful for each friend's greeting this morning. But let me see only You, worship only at Your feet, and be entirely dependent upon You and Your Grace.
Until You touch me, Lord, let me be blind to all else but You. "None but Thee, LORD, None but Thee."
You have refreshed my heart so much.
I don't think mice would survive a night in my husbands combat boots.
I love that you tell us all your good stuff!
Oh how I Love the way you make everyday occurance's funny and full of God's Love.
About 5 years ago my husband and I were driving out of Yellowstone and were amazed as a Bull Moose was crossing a steam to a Mother and Baby what a sight from two people from North Carolina.
What a beautiful country we have to see God's glory all around us.
Oh My-Rodents taking up residence in Keith's Wading Boots...it may take me days to get over that picture. Those sweet little Mickey Mouses instill a fear into me like you would not believe....anytime I see evidence of one, I turn into an obsessed Clorox Queen-Needless to say, I would have bleached the snot out of those waders!!! I am so glad that your days have been productive and I pray that you have taken some time to rest. You are so wonderful-
Love,
Lissa
That is hilarious about the verse that does not exist! I have likewise awakened, thinking about a scripture reference, only to go there and say, "WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?" I guess maybe it just evens us out a bit, when we get to thinking that everything in our lives has to have some eerie mysticism about it! I am glad, however, that God does choose to speak directly, intently, and through us, so many times, as in this case with you.
Praise to Him!
(Hope you see lots of elk! - Our family spent time in a cabin in the mountains of NC last Thanksgiving. We got all excited thinking we were seeing some mountain lion out on our hike --glowing eyes--. It turned out to be a cute little furry domesticated feline.)
OK, I'm cracking up...I too had one of those "I know God told me this" and it turned out to be totally BOGUS! (that's NOT because of God, it's because of me living in this crazy world and being me)...you know, that stuff can really mess with your faith, if you don't get some perspective and laught about it...so THANKS A MILLION!
God is good, He's extra good when I'm particularly dense and need some comfort about it! :-)
Have fun with your man..."of mice and men" applies here!
OH thank you so much for sharing your story, Beth! Sometimes I feel that 10 years on this Christian path and I should not be so quick to assume what God is going to do. I still do it!! How encouraged I was to know those more "seasoned" are still learning too. I pray such a rich blessing on your study time. How honored I am to learn from you and your family as I am a young mom myself (AJ and I are around the same age.) You all are so real and I just love loving Jesus with you! much love, rachel in Wichita
Beth,
I am so incredibly touched that you would take the time to dial up the blog from your mountain hideaway! How precious you are! I pray blessings on your writing time and your "hunting" with your man!

Mice, Ickk!!! Last week I went in my bedroom to find a bat flying around. I ran, screaming girl-like, to my husband and told him there was a bat in our bedroom. He said, "I don't like them either." I explained he was the man and it was his job to deal with the bat. He insisted he would need help to direct the bat outdoors. I ran and got my 14 year old son. This was definately a man's job.
I should say we live in North Dakota where the mesquitos are very large and plentiful and the bats are necessary to keep the mesquito population down.
Beth, I love your posts. I love how open you are about your love of the Lord and His Word. It is an encouragement to us all.
Hope God gave you some exciting sights of His wonderful creation. I thank you for sharing how you take these blessings personally and me and my family have been trying to keep and eye out and share evidences of His amazing love. At your example we've started to applaud God for seeing His awesome gifts around us. Ones that we missed before or just took for granted. [we can certainly add corndogs to this list!!!] Pray you all have safe travel back. In Jesus' Love Kathy Knoblock
I winced at the dead mice comment. At least it was Keith's boots and not a pair of yours! :)
Oh - to have a cabin to go away to. I'm so glad you have your place and have indeed prayed that God would restore and refresh your soul while you are there.
I love seeing wild game too - well - maybe not bears or cougar - but all the others. Take some pics for us! :)
This post ended up being so funny! Thanks for the laugh! You and Mr. Moore have such a sweet relationship! I hope you enjoy the rest of your time together in the mountains!
Oh and the mice thing...
All I can say is eww!!!
Love,
Suzi
I just love you! Nuf said!
twiggi
Yuck!! Not one, but two dead mice...oh, I hope you screamed, because I did when I read it!! Thank you for sharing...I just returned home from our Church's women's retreat, where we enjoyed your teaching on Loving Well! It was so wonderful and we left so full of God's word and his love. Thank you for being the one God used to share it with us. I'm home now, with my "joy", but I'm afraid I'm so tired, I might be his "testy!" Not to worry though, I'm well loved and I'm loving well!!
Hi Beth,
I'm glad to hear things are going well during your time in the mountains.
As I mentioned before, I'm so thankful for your post about confidence. I can see how it applies to me, but I want to keep myself in check as to what and how I feel God's speaking and working in me until something's "confirmed or affirmed." I don't want to go off of my vain imagination.
OH....A Boyz II Men Concert!! Tell Amanda I'm soooo envious! I hope she had fun.
Well, I love you to my friend. God Bless and I'll see ya Weds (on TV that is).
Beth, I am laughing so hard my children want to know why. The lady in a coma, that's why. FUNNY. I've been there myself. Be careful when you think you stand, lest you fall. I have done my share of fallin'. It only makes us cling to Him all the more. I would give you some examples of me getting it all wrong but this is a comment, not a book.
Love you and am praying for God to be a shield round about you as you labor for His Kingdom.
Kara
Mrs. Beth!
What an honor to hear from you while you are out in the forest. Please let us know what wild creatures you saw (i can almost hear you shriek with delight!)
Thanks for reminding me that He can be found in the beauty and majesty of His creation!
You are dearly loved by this siesta!
Bonnie
Now what I'd like to hear is what you really did say about those two dead mice when they fell out of the shoe. Whoowhee!
Blessings to you sister.
Bethy,
This is a particularly fantasic entry! Bless you and Keith for sharing your lives and loves with us. I am diggin' the elk,the MICE and those Aspen leaves. AUMMmm, I can smell the fire and think for one moment it is fall somewhere.
I adore the way you speak about that man of yours. Very sweet, never stop testifying to God's POWER for healing your marriage to our Father's Great Glory! I may be the only one who wants to know it can be done well. I'm sure however, I am not.
I am especialy crazy right now about my time with my best girlfriends these 11 weeks as we study "Living Beyond Yourself". You on the other hand on week 4 video were killing me with the topic of rejection. But, I grew and got it out on the table that day. ALL OF IT. Pain undescribable with the skit @ the end of the tape. My teen Jake- just wont have a thing to do with me-unless there is food. I am praying @ every turn Lord change us , grow us , healing us. My Holy Father is doing just that. Praise Him!
I love you all
Love you too!
And after doing "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things" last spring, I can just picture you two tromping about in the beautiful autumn woods.
Emjoy each moment,
Joanne
Thank you so much for sharing about misinterpretations. A few times I've been so sure about something only to have it turn out completely different and I've wondered about that. I so enjoyed the Philippians story. I laughed out loud. I feel so much better. :o)
You take out your own trash AND have mice?? With every passing post I feel like I know you more;)
Blessings!
Dear Beth:
So glad you were able to read our comments and write to us from the Tetons! How glorious the mountains must be. It is raining here in MN today too. Made it out with my man of 15 years for a quick walk. God gave me the gift of making a delicious Sunday dinner complete with fresh homemade apple pie. The happiness of my family touched my heart.
I start leading my first small group bible study tomorrow. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to give me the right thoughts, word and actions and that they aligned with what he wants me to do with this new adventure He has me on...
Namate,
Your MN Siesta,
Mary Ann
Im so glad you are finding time to relax and enjoy God,Keith, and even two dead mice..eww! God bless you always and i love you sista Beth!
One year when we lived in Alaska, my friend and I attended Easter services together because our husbands were both out of the country- or at least out of the state. When we got back to my condo, I took her downstairs to see some new window treatments in a bedroom. She admired them as a good friend ought and turned to face me to make some comment when I noticed that behind her (outside) lay a moose- the downstairs was a 3/4 basement. We have photos of ourselves posing with this moose, nicely framed by my new curtains! The thrill of it all! Hope you saw your elk! T.G.
God is so amazing! I am studying "Believing God" and at least twice this week God answered something I had ask Him through the study just as though He, Himself was in the room and of course He was. So, as you think about how your words in a post speaks to someone's heart be blessed to know that words you spoke at His direction years ago He is still using today. Thank you and PRAISE HIM.
Oh My! That last line got me Beth! Yuck! I would have died right there.
Oh my!! Well, the first thought I have is "EEEWWWW!!" I so can NOT stand mice (dead or otherwise, I might add)!! My hubby would have just tossed them in the trash, put on the boot and went along---I would have screamed like you can't imagine!
Secondly, I am thrilled to hear how richly you are being blessed on your working mountain get-away. God is so awesome.
Oh, and I just have to say, Beth, last week's post about you praying while taking out the trash was SUCH a blessing to me. I had just that very day been fighting the guilty feeling that sometimes, my "prayer time" also includes showering, bathing a child, vacuuming, making someone's breakfast/lunch/dinner, cleaning up the kitchen, etc., etc., etc. God so wonderfully answered my prayer with your post in showing me that He is there even in the mundane, everyday life. Thanks again for being so real!!
Love you!!
Lisa J. in Michigan
Hi Beth. I was one of those women that the Lord touched through your mention of Hebrews 10:35-36 on the 29th. I read it through a few times and felt like God was wanting me to chew on it a while. Then while I was having some quiet time in bed before going to sleep my "Ending Your Day Right" devotional was none other than Hebrews 10:35. The Lord is always speaking to me that way.
I really love your blog. I'm new to my city/state and making friends takes a while so it's nice to be able to jump on your blog and feel like I'm talking to a good friend. I've done three of your studies since 2004 and each has blessed me so! I also have read many of your books. I love "Feathers From My Nest"!
Well, have a wonderful time with Keith! I have got to go tend to my babies!
Sleep tight!
Rosie
p.s. I would love to see pictures of your vacation too.
Ms Beth,
Praise God for some good work getting done and for some well deserved rest. I hope God showed you some real widlife treasures that He stored up just for you! Oh how He loves to WOW us!
Oh and the dead mice stuffed in the boot - too funny!
We love you too!!
God bless,
Kim
Beth,
Oh, to be in the mountains rather than the much too humid coast of TX.
What a timely entry for me.. just this week I have been praying that I would truly know the voice of God. We go through this life making decisions constantly and I have always prayed and gone with my "gut". As I continually grow in this walk, I desire to recognize the voice of my Father.
We will be gracing the State Fair with our presence in a couple of weeks. What a fun family tradition, Great-grandparents to a toddler join in the fun. God is so good even in the "fried" things of life.
Many Blessings!!
Ha! And I just had to shake my little ones' fishin' boots out today at Grandpa's farm to make sure they wouldn't find resident Fiddlebacks.
Being a prophet of any kind is a frightening proposition. I'm currently taking your Daniel study, and found myself wanting to be one of the three who prayed and did not get a revelation. I would've been scared to death that the vision was just my own crazy imagination. Then the next lesson was about stepping-up, and I felt properly penitent. =)
Beth,
I had missed your "confidence" blog thanks for the reminder, it ministered greatly. I have felt much persecution after taking a firm stance with a bible study group about a false teaching they are choosing to be under. God prompted my heart to leave. It is a group that has continued to remain comfortably warm, not hot nor cold. The author of the book makes some subtle statements contrary to truth. My heart is sad and my confidence shaken after 25 years of ministry , though I know I followed God's lead in the matter. I needed the ministry of your words. It gave me hope. How I wish I could sit across the table and ask for your counsel sometimes. Thanks that you continue to share your heart in creative ways and direct us to the ONE who gives the ultimate counsel.
beth-tell keith my man took our 2 boys pheasant hunting for the first time on sat. 9yr&13yr.
what can you say when you get kids snow boot "hand me downs" from the neighbor and they didn't quite fit at 1st for the same reason keith's didn't. just one dead down in there.
lovin life in Him!
lisa
stormy at the beach.
Hee hee hee hee.....
The dead mice story is funny... Gross - but funny. I'm glad it wasn't scorpions lurking in Keith's boot!
Love,
Adrienne
I would have been pronounced dead right there in the garage had I been there ... oh my!
So glad you are able to get so much accomplished and great times with your man!
Oh sweet Beth how I needed to be reminded and reassured that it is OKAY to believe that you truly felt the words and breath of the Holy Spirit prompting you to act - but in fact it wasn't Him at all.
Today I begin yet another journey made possible by the showering of Gods mercy and grace. You see, I acted about 3 months ago and took a full time job at our local Bible college and Seminary. I thought it was the PERFECT job and it must be given to me by God himself! I could get my masters in Bibical studies (at no cost mind you) and bring in extra financial resources to make the living here at home a bit "easier"
However, being a mother to my 5 boys(teenagers)is what God is calling me to do in this season. The job never felt "right" even though I truly believe it was from Him! I am home now and this time I KNOW the voice of the Holy Spirit is saying, "Now this is where you need to be child. All the learning you want to do about Me - I will be your teacher. You don't need a formal seminary degree. You are mom."
Praise God that He got me out of the job with little effort! How can we wind up so confused??
Beth - you give so much life with your words every time you write to us. Thank you!
I want to join you in that cabin and share a cup of coffee and talk and talk and talk!
You are so loved!
Mr. Keith!!! as if I needed further proof that you truly are a man's man!! ...two dead mice in your boots, and I bet you simply beat them out and slid your feet in all the same!!! :)

As so many have said about your last post (and I probably did too), the timing of my reading was so appropriate. I was feeling so insecure in my venture as a small group leader. I printed out your post and put it in my journal and read and read it. I shared it with my "girls", and I posted it on my little blog.
What I have found so amazing is how so many of us needed those words at the same time. He's just so awesome and I'm tickled He used you! Otherwise, I might have missed it.
I also don't get how I can just love someone without ever touching them or meeting them face to face, but do know that I love you and I have no doubt of your love for me.
(Sorry to read about those mice...)

Beth,
Oh, how God works through so many different ways to touch us with His love and grace. I had just read two devotionals, one from your 90 days with the One and Only, and the other from Encourgement Today. They both were on this same subject of God's timing, His Presence in our lives and fulfilling His purpose even when we have such doubt. As I walked into my classroom today, I prayed all the way here that God would help and lead me to be His child, to fulfill His purpose, to be His light in the lives of my students. Somedays it is so hard to believe that I really make a difference at all. But, then I realize, it is not necessary for me to know-- God knows and that is all that counts. Enjoy your time in the forest with your husband and your God. You are blessed and loved Beth Moore...
I am not sure which of your studies it is, but you spoke about God showing you a delight when you were in the mountains. You talked about you and your little disposeable camera. I LAUGHED SO HARD. It still makes me chuckle when I think of it. So here is to your delight Beth. Lord please delight her today, give her the eyes and heart to see it.
Beth,
Thanks for the encouragement on the way to the mountains, and "live" from the mountains. I copied the "quick word" on Wed. and claimed it for my very own. I am in the midst of preparing to start teaching a women's class at our church. The enemy is obviously not happy and decided to attack me in the very area he knows is my weakest. Unbelievable how as Christians, we allow the enemy to use us against one another. Yes it is a test, and I was grumbling along with it, until I read your post. But, your "quick word" fell over me like a blanket of love and protection. It washed me with a flood of confidence, not with myself, but God confidence, to assure me that through His empowering, I can "endure hardships, do the work...discharge all the duties of my ministry." Thank you for taking the time to share the Word with us. (Is 50:3) Is what the Lord has spoken to me as one of my main purposes. To "speak a word in season, to those who are weary" You just did that very thing for me. Thanks for listening to Him! Enjoy your time away with Keith, and I pray the Lord will bless you and Keith while you are there seeking His face for so many of us, and bless your family that is holding the fort down on the home front! Love and Blessings!
Beth, thank you for writing a note while you're up in the mountains. Reading them is one of the highlights of my day!
Much love from NC.
Between the two dead mice and Phil 6:13 you crack me up. I agree with you about being very careful about thinking that we hear God. I heard one pastor give a message to his church explaining his decision to move to a different church. He used the phrase - "it seems to me that God is saying..." That phrase leaves room for human error. I'm so aware of not wanting to hurt God's reputation. Then I remind myself that He is God and He's not worried about His reputation. (We're the grasshoppers! The whole idea of being grasshoppers and yet so important to God is mind-boggling, isn't it?)
Anyway thanks for the uplifting entry. Lots of love!!
All I have to say is I am glad it was Keith's waders and not yours. Although that would have been a great story told by you Miss Beth!
I just think how amazing God is. To place a scripture in your heart and to share with us and how so many of us related immediately! God knew we all needed to hear this and you listened to his prompting to share! We serve an awesome God!
This is my first post so I hope this is relevant. Your heart for your family inspires me to pray for God to teach me to love. I am always so inspired by the humanness of our lives entwined with the holy. and to add a human comment, my pap gave me a mattress from his attic when I went to college and one morning while I was sleeping on it (ugh) it tore and little piles of mouse bones fell out!!!
Hey Beth-I don't know how God does it-but apparently I am on schedule to get a specific word through you everytime I read this. Seriously--- Just before I read your blog today, I was considering how cautious God has been telling me to be in the area of advice. He has told me to confirm and reaffirm things and reveal only if He says to AND makes an opportunity for that info to be revealed- I laughed so hard over your "poor girl in a Coma that woke up" story! It resonated with me because--- God consistently drops a call on my cell phone whenever I am about to act holier than thou and reveal my solution to someone else's problem... Seriously---it's happened 7 times in the last 3 weeks! Right when I get to the "you know what God may be saying is...part...it's like "Hello...anyone there...??? Ok, sorry God" And then I call back and I'm like,"OK well' I'll be praying for you, let me know what God reveals to you".
So, at least we can laugh right? You-- have an incredible God filled time up there in the mountains and we will continue to pray for you! I hope you have a great girlfriend with you to share a cup of coffee with or have had an amazing time with God there, or both! Love, Shell
Hey There!
Nice that the dial up actually worked and you were able to post your message. You are such a blessing to think of us in the midst of so much to do.
I personally cannot wait until you finish Esther so we can uncover and dig into Scripture ourselves. WOO-WHOOO!
All righty then. The mice in Keith's boot remind me of how we used to store our western boots in the closet one upper stuffed into the other to keep the scorpions out. Talk about a shocking moment.
One night as I walked up the sidewalk to the front door of our house I saw a small field rat scurry across our covered porch to settle just under the front door sill. I squealed and froze. My oldest daughter opened the front door with her cell phone to her ear and her eyebrows scrunched together in the middle of her forehead. She mouthed silently, "What?"
I point down and she sheepishly stuck her head out and peaked over the ledge of the sill. I whispered, "It's a mouse or ... a rat."
My Brittany hastily retreated inside squealed even louder than I had and slammed the door. We looked a the epitomy of foolish women with all our squealing and slamming. I finally stomped my foot which sent my rat retreating up into the corner trying to shimmy between the concrete foundation border and the hardy plank siding that makes our little bungalow look like a stucko cape cod style home. I asked for a broom thinking I would nudge it away - fearing the poor thing might get stuck in there and die. Dreadful for our household and the rat - the stench would have drove us out I am sure.
I tapped the concrete near his little rat rump and he just squeaked and seemed to try to crawl further into the crack he had wedged himself into. I finally relented praying, "God, please don't let that rat get stuck and die."
I guess it worked because a few hours later I looked and the little guy was gone and we have not seen fur or tail since.
Dear Lord, Please bless our sister and friend Beth as she continues to teach others the deep treasures of truth hidden within Your Holy Scriptures. I pray that with each word written and taught many will come to seek and know You more. Bless her Lord with insight, wisdom and truth - protect her witness and her legacy. You are a blessing to us through your humble servant. Thank You Father for such an example of faithfulness and love - love for You and Your Word.
We love You, We praise You and We honor You in this place. May Yours be the glory forever and ever, Amen.
So...his boots are that potent ehhh. lol
Fly fishing in the rain is a very good time to go.
I was jonesing to see the changing of the aspens, but went to Estes Park to stand among a heard of deer like all the other dummy-head tourists that like to chance being trampled. :) It was just divine to stand near the massive creatures and listen to them bugle.
I am go glad your time went well and that it wasn't ALL work. :)
Many blessings to ya,
Kate
I just have 2 things to say...no, 3...
First off - I love ya, girlfriend, you make me smile.
Second - yellow aspens and bull elk - awesome stuff. I live in Colorado, so I know it's grand!
And third - 2 dead mice in the boots. Ick. But, better in Keith's boots, than in yours!
-Marti
I am totally blessed by the technology God has given us in this generation. Though I can't understand how the Internet works I am thankful to use it to speak with my Siestas and learn from them.
Beth, it was good to hear God answered our prayers on your behalf. I hope you and Keith had a time of refreshment together while you were tucked away in the beautiful Grand Tetons.
May God show Himself to you today in the details of life.
Hugs to all,
Mary
Well Beth-
Glad to hear that other people have a problem once in a while with a "word from the Lord". I really do wonder sometimes if I'm the only one flipped out or not. As far as the two dead mice: At least they died together (maybe they were a couple)who knows? They have no more family members living in the house I assume? I love the Grand Tetons, one of the most beautiful National Parks in the whole of USA. Send pictures!
(Not of the mice though) Love you lots!

Thank you so much for those stories of "not hearing" God's direction. I woke up Saturday morning with something on my mind. Proceeded to read my morning devotion, thinking I had really grasped a word from God. Now, I'm wondering, "Did I really hear Him correctly?" It will be a good Sunday School lesson, but what is it God was trying to tell me personally? I asked Him again this morning if I had heard Him correctly. I'm still not sure. What I am sure of is that I/we have an AWESOME God, and either way, my antennae are up. Maybe right now they're on "dial up," too! :0 LOL Hugs!
Amanda, How was the concert? I heart Boyz 2 Men!!! Or at least I used to! Oh how that brings up do many memories! Ah...the good ole days!
You are precious to share, your vulnerability is so refreshing, and your sense of humor delightful. Thank you for giving the verse of Hebrews 10:35-36. I copied it and typed as large as I could on an 8 1/2" x 11" paper that I have displayed on my desk. It is the first thing I see and it is a comfort at this time for me. I am feeling the grieving of a mom's heart as her daughter has choosen to part from the Savior's path. It hurts so bad, to watch and as I write this it brings tears to my eyes. I continue to pray steadfast to my precious Lord "I choose to believe what I cannot see, and His promise of never leaving or forsake His child"
My husband and I look forward to God's victory in our daughters life. Again thank you and have a wonderful time with your man as you enjoy the Master Artist paint the canvas. God bless and keep you both.
Love In Him
Celeste
i love corrie ten boom, don't you? in her book, the hiding place, she tells of God's visions that prepared her for things. i have had visions. some have happened, and others i ask God never to allow. how can we be certain when they are the real deal?
Dearest Siesta,
It's so nice to know you relax and rejuvenate through our posts back to you. God is so great to give us this forum and thank you that you were right on target for that revelation!
Bless you as you continue in His service.
Dear Beth,
I love hearing your and how you call Keith "your man." You are so real and lovable and at the same time so respected as an anointed woman of God. This pastor's wife wants to be like you!
All of our women were so excited to hear that Esther is the topic of your next study. We can't wait! Also, I will celebrate a birthday next week and I plan to use some of my b-day money to buy the Wising Up series. Not to teach or share - just for me!
I hope you have a wonderful mountain retreat. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Much love and prayers,
Kristen
Your comments about the prompting of the Spirit was, ironically enough, exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you so much for your endless willingness to be honest and transparent in your walk - it is beyond inspirational.
Oh sweet Beth! What a delight it was to jump on this blog on Saturday night and see that you had sent us a note from the mountains! What a dear you are to think of us.
Beth, you have blessed me tremendously this past week. I had the great privilege of being at your Esther teaching last Tuesday, and what an amazing word you spoke to my heart! And then on Wednesday, you gave us the Hebrews passage along with your precious reminder of the confidence we have in Christ. That was such a timely word for me, as I am currently in a season of discouragement. And while I realize that it is just that - a season - it was such a gift to receive such encouragement from our Lord through you. It made me feel newly inspired to "perse-dang-vere" through this time!
I have been praying for you faithfully during your time in the mountains, and am so thankful for your faithfulness in study, which blesses us all so!
As for the mice in the boots...ABSOLUTELY RIOTOUS! I had to read it three times before I believed it! There's bound to be a spiritual lesson in there somewhere. Ya know...casting off that which is dead so that we are free to walk in newness of life with Jesus! Something like that...
I love you and I thank you!
Kristin
Thank you for sharing from Hebrews 10:35-36. It is the same message the Lord spoke to me from you, Pricilla, and Kay during the Deeper Still event in Nashville. It changed my perspective on a difficult trial - literally - that we are facing.
A year ago, I was named in an ACLU lawsuit filed against our children's elementary school. This has been one of the toughest years of our lives. However, God is good, and He is doing a mighty work that will have far reaching affects. The Alliance Defense Fund is defending us, and we are confident that God is in control. (But the day-to-day steps of the battle are still hard.)
Until Deeper Still, I didn't realize how many times I told the Lord and my husband that I wanted to quit this battle. I wanted relief, not release. Not anymore! We’re pressing on in this battle, and God has given us more peace and joy in the last several weeks, than we have had in a year!
Thank you, again, for speaking God's Word...it has accomplished God's work in yet another life. I thank God for you and pray for you daily.
The trial (Doe vs. Wilson County Schools) is set for December 11 at the Federal Courthouse in Nashville, Tn. Beth, AJ, and Siestas, please pray for God's will to be done, and His glory to SHINE!!!...
Q: “Why did the Christian climb the mountain?" A: "To get to the other side!” :-) A men!
In Jesus' Joy,
Jennifer
I am a new visitor to your blog, and let me just say... I'm addicted! My first entry to read was the one on Confidence and it was one that I definitely needed to read that particular day.
Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule to enlighten us women on a daily basis.
Grace & Peace...
Erin
I was transported right to the Grand Tetons with you!
That crackling fire, the fishing, even those poor dead mice causing a giggle, the delights... oh what a wonderful God we have!
Enjoy!
Oh, Beth, I have suffered a case of "holy asthma" tonight. I have just finished watching video 4 of Dwelling Place and I can't hardly catch my breath. I am so in awe of Him!!! I thank you so much for being the humble servant you are to all of us. I am simply so overwhelmed at the words He spoke over my life tonight. In the middle of this wonderful experience with God, I had to go pick up my son from football practice--with tears streaming down my face and the huge West Texas sun going down behind that field---just a cherry on top!! Just pure delight.--Oh, I'm understanding this!!! PRAISE HIS NAME!!!
We prayed for you last night...I'm leading two different groups in this study...so we'll pray collectively again Wednesday night for you. We prayed for you to have such a sweet time with Him and I pray that he will give you the most wonderful delight and "cherry on top!"
We love you and thank God for you and your ministry. Thank you for serving me, blessing me, teaching me, and ministering to me through your studies and through this blog!! Please be encouraged today that God is using you like CRAZY!!
Beth,
Oh dear ... Maybe those 2 mice were the ones who left all of those "droppings" in his truck a couple of years ago when you were teaching to us in SS class from Ephesians 6:10-12??? Hehehe !!! And, just in case you are wondering, No, I have not forgotten the lesson that you taught to me on that day... :) You taught us about how we can be out of our own personal strength, and still have strength to fight him, through God's dunamis strength pouring through us... How incredible He is !!!
I just want you to know that God answered one of my prayers through a dream, but I didn't know about it until today when I read how you were praying for all of us! :) One night this weekend, I had woken up in pain, even though I was already using an ice pack on my shaking neck (due to a Tic Disorder that I have) and it hurt so badly that I grabbed a colder one out of the camper's freezer, but I ended up "wrestling a few things through with God" about all of the difficult things that my family and I have been going through recently, before I was able to fall asleep again, tears streaming and all, and then I was finally able to fall back to sleep.
But, where you come into the picture is that when I woke up the next morning, I vividly remember having seen you (Beth) in my dream, wearing, of all things, a bright blue, but very pretty outfit, just smiling away like you normally did when I used to live in Houston. It was almost as if the Lord Himself wanted me to know that you had been praying for me/us. That is so special. Thank you. You are so sweet! And, yes, I love you, too ...
But, I can imagine how you could walk outside of that sweet cabin of Y'all's in the mountains in the "middle of no-where's land" and be able to see God's glory just laid out before you, seeing all of those gorgeous mountains and animals in their natural habitat like that (from a safe distance, I pray), as I was in that general area on a family vacation once ... And, I agree with some of the others, I would love to see some pictures of those beautiful mountains on the blog, too.
In Christ's mighty Love,
Jennifer O.

I just found your blog and am SO EXCITED.
I am always moved by what God says through you. I've taken several of your studies and learn so much from them all.
Sometimes I question what the Holy Spirit is saying and other times, he's so deep in my gut and saying things I don't want to hear I KNOW it has to be Him. Thank you for the reminder though to at least really seek Him to make sure "self" is out of the equation.
The story of the Phil 6 is hilarious! I will have to remember that one.

My beloved & I usually head to Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons every fall. This year we swapped for a Springtime trip to Yosemite so he could photograph (his hobby) the waterfalls at their peak with the snowmelt! We even got a 6" snowfall, something as you know, is rarity for us Texans! I remembered how you referred to such things as "delights" from our Lord. A little something extra to thrill us and let us know He loves us and is thinking of us!
We too, love to look for the elk, since they are in rut this time of year and are especially active (and aggressive). I remember listening to Chris Tomlin's "Indescribale" last fall as we drove through the Grand Teton's! I felt as if I were watching a p[ower point set to music as I absorbed the scenery around me! One of my favorite stops, especially in fall is "The Chapel Of The Transfiguration" in Grand Teton NP. The huge picture window behind the cross on the altar, looks out at the mountain range. You see the cross and behind it the mountains and the shimmering, gold aspen trees! Now THAT is certainly a delight!

I wasn't going to share becasue it seemd "silly" but since everyone else did...
Yesterday morning when I got up I had the cast of L A Law on my mind and I could not get them off my mind. I rarely even watched the show when it was on.....
So, I kept saying this is so silly but "if God puts someone on your mind you are to pray for them"...well I did, I prayed for the cast of L A Law....even though I felt very silly!! I'm not sure God was telling me that or not....
Love you Beth! Thank you for sharing. Holly, you made me shake all over with the, "did they crunch" part. Have mercy! Praying for you Beth, praying for us all to listen, not for loud words, but for the still, small voice that can speak loudly.
Blessings to you all!
Debbie in Tennessee
P.S. I was wathing The Food Network last night and they showed a rerun of Unwrapped which happened to be featuring the Texas State Fair and Fletchers (i think that was the name) corn dogs! It took all the strength I had not to jump through the screen and take a bite! They looked wonderful!!!
can i just say "thank you" for posting this?? i was definitely feeling very discouraged over the weekend about my shortcomings and failures in ministry. coming in on monday morning to read this was such a lift to my spirits. then this morning, my devotional happened to be on humility. i think God is reminding me that it's all Him working through me despite my flesh. i don't know if that makes sense, but just know that i was encouraged and thankful!
Can't wait to study Esther with you. It is one of my favorites! So glad you are having a wonderful time there. Your idea of hunting is my absolute favorite. To see God creation in the wild is a real high for me. My favorite type of vacation. Being in the car with my man, a long way from home is a perfect day for me. BTW, love the dead mice...my question is, how did they die????
That reminds me of the thing of just opening your Bible and blindly pointing out a verst to read...when I do that it's always about a donkey or something like that. :)
So glad that your are having a blessed time in the mountains. That part of the country is a favorite of mine, and I can't wait someday to take my son and my hubby there (they've never been).
Loved the story about the mice... You can't even make something like that up. :)
Love you
Cynthia in OK
PS - Love the corn dogs at the Texas State Fair - when I get to go to OU/Texas - that's one of my favorite parts!! I always make hubby get there early so we have time to stand in the huge line to get one before pregame.
Glad to see you took my advise and stopped to enjoy the mountains and the wildlife. As I said before we just moved to the mountains - some would think the wilderness, but one thing I love is it is so quiet up here, away from the hum of the world. We see lots of wildlife and my favorite are the deer and the bucks. We apparently have bears, cougars and big elk and I may only wish to see these from afar not close.
God is so funny, I always tell my husband that to live in our world you'd need a sense of humor. That was such a funny story about your friend, God was just keeping her on her toes I guess and the other story about you feeling God was taking the person to heaven and they lived. God probably had a good chuckle over that as well. Glad to hear you can have some fun in between your writing. Been reading some good scripture this morning while I was doing your " New Every Morning." I love doing that every morning. God is so awesome, thank you Lord for laughter.

Beth,
I just had to share something with you today. We just had our third night of "A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place" last night. I cannot tell you how timely it was for so many of the women in our study. One of the women stood up and shared that, after last week's lesson, the Lord prompted her to call her daughter and share what she had learned. It was the last time she spoke with her daughter, as she woke up in eternity to meet her Savior.
And as we returned home after viewing week three together, and hearing you speak about the twists and turns in life, one of our dear sweet sisters in Christ had a massive heart attack. Praise God she is somewhat stable today, but oh how God has spoken to us through His word and through what you shared with us last night. Be encouraged, Beth. God is USING you in a mighty way to bring His word to us. Thank you for being faithful to His calling. Keep writing. You are SUCH a blessing to us all.
Love from all of us in IL,
Happi
This is the refreshment that I needed right now - a break from putting things to rights after being away for 2 weeks and then sick with ear and eye infections! Uncomfortable but not enough to keep me from "hearing and reading" God's word (even through plugged up ears and sticky eyes)!!!!
There is a peace of coming home to the forest - where I live - that brings rest to the spirit. With the ocean to the west and the mountains to the east who could ask for more?!
With all the unsettledness in my life - a marriage that is breaking up because of adultery and non-repentance - I know that my God reigns and will bring peace and joy because I choose to seek Him! Thank you, God, for normalacy and absurdity - fishing, writing, elk watching and mice!!

Beth: Thank you for not only teaching me, loving me, and encouraging me to get into the Word of God, but also how to honor and love my husband.
I don't think you set out to do it on purpose, but your stories and genuine words and the way you love your man Keith has been so good for me! The way you said just "looking at his handsome face would be worth the trip" made my heart skip a beat.
May I say that it has been even better for my man because he has observed the "difference!" I am learning to take the time to appreciate his good qualities and be thankful for the 30 awesome years of marriage and ministry we have shared. In fact, just yesterday, there was some stirrings of a little healthy jealousy for the first time in a long time. (Totally silly of me - several choir members called just wanting to tell him they were not going to be at a special rehearsal - perfectly appropriate, but I did get a little "green.") :) I attribute that to being more aware of what a gift he is to me - sort of like in the early days when I was so aware of EVERYTHING.
Thank you for being a woman we can learn from and for being so real.
I sure love you,
Jan
Romans 15:13
Look this is my third time on ur blog and I was hestited to write but I am going to anyways. I read a bit of your stuff , All I can say is that you guys try to make this so called walk of yours so easy. Let me tell you it isnt and if you think it is then tell me your secret. I am tired and frustrated on how everyone is so easy to point their finger at me and tell me that I am doing everything so wrong. I CAN'T SEEM TO Do ANYTHING RIGHT. I think your name is Beth and you run the show here, I don't get you. I try but I just don't get you. Can you explain to me how you do it. I am not a church person nor do I serve this god of yours but I came across you a few days back. I don't want you to tell me what I am doing wrong or what I can't do as I am tired of people judging me and thinking I am a loser. I am 24 years old and I think I lived life to see what the world is really like. If this so called God is so REAL then why don't I see him or feel it. I had this lady from this church not far from my work place come in and tell me that I am a sinner and that I am going to hell because I work in a place that serves alcohal and plays musiic that is worldly. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ABOUT. I will never step into a church as I can't deal with people like that. Is there a HELL come on now that is so full of it. I don't even know if you will ever get this or read it but if you don't thats cool but if you do please explain to me why it is so easy for you to do what you do and why you believe I am going to hell because I work in a bar and that I don't go to church and so for.
Thanks
Diana
I am loving Daniel, I can't wait to be lovin some Esther! You are such a loving, jubilant person. I feel like I know you, I wish I could find some godly friends around here. Thanks for being you!
Beth, I so enjoy hearing from you personally on this blog. Your previous blog really touched me and I was led by God to read it to my best friend, who really needed to hear it. I am glad you are relaxing and getting done what you need to...it is wonderful to be able to have that perfect peace in Christ sometimes, is it not?! That rest that only he can provide.
Oh, and the mice in the boot thing...I agree, 'nuff said! lol
God bless you! Jennifer
Beth,
Your blog encourages me everytime you write. Your honesty and real life stories capture all of our hearts.
Thank you for being so real.

Diana,
We would like to respond to you personally rather than on this blog. Would you send us an email at blog@lproof.org? Thanks so much!
Love,
Amanda from Living Proof Ministries
Beth,
Your word on confidence really hit home today. My husband is a motivational speaker and he was "attacked" last week and made to feel like an idiot. He is coming home from Fl today and I can't wait to share with him this word. God Bless you!
The mice in the boot gave me the chills!
Thank you for blogging. I just love reading it and its nice to see even more of the real you. Love the paint bucket photo. Life feels like one sometimes...lots of colors, lots of layers, all mixed up, and sometimes dumped out...but in the end all of those layers of color are beautiful.
Boyz 2 Men and two dead mice?!?? I was enjoying the post on a serious note until I got there and starting laughing out loud!
God bless the rest of your time there. I love how He gives you the words for your study and then uses them in all of our lives weeks, months and years later.
Diana [the one that's 24]
I read your post this evening, and even though you're not talking to me, I wanted to comment.
I am so so sorry you've felt so judged, and have had such a poor representation of the Christian faith presented to you. I honestly, would feel like you do, and wouldn't want to set foot in a church if I felt like I would just be slammed, who would?!
I am also 24, I am a Christian, who loves music, dancing, going out, MTV "The Hills" greys anatomy, timbaland, shopping, and basically anything else people our age like..I also have no idea how to budget, make about 50,000 mistakes a week, am probably addicted to caffeine and my ADD medication, and have no idea what I am wanting to do with my life. You say you don't go to church? I literally oversleep about 70% of the time, and sometimes my only "church" is a podcast.
I am saying all of this to let you know that Christians are people, just people who have been saved, and by saved I mean, literally God pulled me out of a pit of despair (a 7 year battle with anorexia to be exact) and planted my feet firmly on the ground. He gave me purpose, and showed me He loved me DESPITE my crud.
I also feel like Beth has like this super natural ability to walk the straight path, and this direct line to Jesus, and feel like sometimes I will never measure up, but that's my own deal. We ALL have insecurities, fears, and doubts. We all think to ourselves, will I ever get this right?! we all go through really hard things, sometimes out of our control, and sometimes completely in our control, but also completely self-destructive
Diana, "We" are no different from anyone else by our own measure or progress. Everything I am that's of any good is from God, so I have nothing to judge, or boast about. I am a mess. God never said it would be easy, but He said He would be with us.
My prayer for you is that weird/ mean people with no social skills will NOT be the representation you see of Christ. That you will recognize as Christians, we are ALL SINNERS, none of us better than the other, and we are ALL in desperate need of grace. Some christians unfortunately spend way too much time worrying about others, not in a productive way, but in a way that judges them, and sizes them up, that's completely about them, not YOU.
"We" have no place, and when you meet someone who thinks they do, run like a bunny.
My favorite quote is:
"let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others."
You're just fine as you are, and my prayer for you is that you'll see and believe the truth, and not some clouded perception of some hyper spiritual woman who either lacks emotion, or social skills..
He meets you right where you are at, and loves you immensely AS YOU ARE TODAY.. Whether you work at a Bar, or Lifeway Christian Bookstore, He loves you, as YOU. He created you, and knows you. You are HIS, and made in HIS image, He is enthralled by you, and so so proud of you. He wants you to know Him, and by that, really really know Him. I can't put into words the depth of the love He has for you. You are meant to feel that, and to feel whole. The purpose of being a christian is not for "life insurance" because you'll go to hell, the purpose of being a christian is knowing that you were chosen, and if it would have been just you, God loved you so so much that He sent His one and only son to die, so that you could LIVE. He isn't going to strike you with a lightening bolt, He's not distant, or cold, He's not ticked off with you.. Everything you can possibly think of that's good, is who He is..
Please know that you'll run into people like that lady anywhere, but that the only true representation of God is Himself. This is soo long, but what I want so badly for you to see is that you're not judged, and that you're so OK right where you are at.
Again, I am so so sorry you've felt so wounded by people in the church..Broken people do a bad job of representing a "WHOLE" God.

Thank you, Beth for all that God does through you. I've grown so close to the Lord through your studies. I have beed so blessed.
I just have to share a story that goes along wtih Keith's mice. Before I was married to my husband, I house-sat for my future mother-in-law for a a week or two. Before she came back into town, I noticed a bunch of dead flies all around. I thought it was gross, but cleaned them up and didn't think topo much about it. A few weeks after my mother-in-law got back into town, she and a friend went to a classical concert with an audience of old geezers. Her friend leaned over and whispered to her how much the old geezers stunk (They are in their 70's as well!). On the way home, my mother-in-law stopped at the 7-11 and reached in her purse to pay and discovered something furry. To her horror, there was a dead mouse in her purse!!! Hence the files in her house and the smell at the concert! Her old cat loves to bring her presents from time to time. This is one we will never forget!!
Thanks again for all you do! I'm currently working on my patience in "Fruits of the Spirit" and loving every minute of it!
