Names and Faces

Sharon and Stacy. They're who I met this morning at Starbucks on my way to work. Sharon, about my height with beautiful brown skin, was standing at the counter getting her man and her two tall drips of the day (House Blend I think) with two pastries. Didn't see what kind. Already in the bag. Would like to have known but I felt a little funny asking. Sharon watches Wednesdays on Life Today and is going to try to come to the kick off of the Esther Bible study tomorrow night. We hugged like crazy. Then, while the barista was brewing up my Grande Nonfat Cappuccino, I met Stacy, a tiny little light-skinned blond who just finished "Get Out of That Pit" and felt like God had really spoken to her. She's a missionary with YWAM and will head to Amsterdam in January. And, yes, missionaries can feel like they're in a pit, too. And so can Bible teachers. And pastor's wives. And pastors. Praise God, His arm is long enough and His hand is strong enough to rescue us all, no matter how deep we've gone or how long we've been.

I like to know names and see faces. And hug necks. A big crowd is overwhelming and so, somehow, is something contrived (like someone who doesn't have enough to do trying to figure out which Starbucks - she'd be so disappointed with the let-down anyway) but when God alone appoints these momentary one-on-one encounters, something profound happens to me every time. Not to them. To ME. My worst nightmare in ministry - besides letting ministry steal my intimacy with Jesus - is losing touch with real, live people. Loving God and loving people. Serving God and serving people. That's what it's all about or it's about nothing at all. Although I can't see your faces, you have become a very real community to me. I know many of your "names" by this time. Like Boomama and Patty and The Preacher's Wife and Ocean Mommy and so many others beside them and have come to appreciate you so and laugh with you and love Jesus with you. I often stop and pray for you as I read. I don't even have to know a name, my beloved "Anonymous," if I can occasionally read through your words and see your heart because, in seeing your heart with my wild imagination, my mind's eye conjures up a face. And it's so darlin'. Every last one of you are to me. All shapes and sizes and ages and do's. Make-up or not. Highlights or not.

As we launch another Bible study tomorrow night and I labor again at the computer today in the solitary confinement of what God has most called me to do, He has added two names to my life and two loves to my heart. Sharon and Stacy. And I am grateful.

I was touched by your post and your love for us. In a way, I understand. As God calls me into ministry, I too, eat up and soak up every time I get to communicate with a woman who is impacted by what I do. It's hard though too - having a calling, isn't it? In fulfilling that calling, sometimes people get dissapointed by the lack of time and attention I can give them. I hate that part. But we give all we can.
I love your love for us - and we give it back to you 100fold. :)

Beth -

I pray that one day I get to meet you face-to-face and tell you just how you have helped me step out into my own ministry. When I think of what broke the fear and intimidation off of me, I think of you and the story you shared with us. Thank you for being so open and honest. The power in your story and your obedience has encouraged many lives...including mine.

All of His Blessings!

Beth, you bring me to tears. I "feel" your love for me and am touched. To think that the Lord loves me more than I can imagine is staggering. If the Lord were to let me "feel" His love in its full measure I would probably just die. Can't wait to be in his arms of love someday.

Dear Beth,
Yes, divine appointments, over coffee. My latest: God gave me the opportunity to begin ongoing ministry to a past pastor's wife. Me, just a "jo". I feel like Paul because I can boast in my Lord!
My story: mom of 3 grown children; youngest: son, 18 y.o. into his second week of college; oldest, daughter: 28 y.o. newly returned to Germany to finish up oceanography PhD; second oldest daughter, 25 y.o. also very God gifted.Me, over past 30 years 2 divorces, finally saved in more ways than one by my FATHER!, married a 3rd time to a godly man; trained professional, physical therapist assistant, home for the past seven years due to "changing" physical abilities. God has blessed me with work to do from home. He uses this broken vessel in His great work, which includes ministering to women 1:1 or by letters.Amen.
NOTE: I am blessed by your ministry, Bible studies and on-line "talks", your books and Wednesday night T.V.; and trying to pass on God's word using your tools. Praise the Lord He has worked on your heart that you have much to teach. THANK YOU for being God's servant.

Beth,

I guess I should say, "right back at ya, Siesta." You see this blog allows me the connection to you that my heart already feels as I've heard you speak, read your books, watched you on TV, and led your studies. So although I can't see your face as I type this, know that you are and continue to be a dear sister in Christ to me. What attracts me to you most is not you, although you are a downright hoot at times and I'm sure we'd be fast friends given the different cirucmstances, but it's Christ who is so evidently flowing through you. You're such a reflection of Him. And frankly, that's what makes you so absolutely beautiful!!

So, thank you (and Amanda) for this blog. Yes, I feel that sense of belonging and community too. Just wish I could give you a big hug around the neck IRL. I guess, for now until we meet in person or are caught up in the clouds together this will have to do.

(((((Beth)))))

Love ya my Siesta,
~Cheryl

Hi Beth. I just wanted to share with you a little of my story. First, let me say that I love you. I am so thankful for your ministry. I've done one of your Bible studies and leared so much from it. Keep it up, girl.
I have just started the revised edition of your first study and I already love it. There is a group of 25 at my sister church doing it and I hope they are getting as much out of it as I am. My church is also going through the 40 Days of Purpose and through it all God is trying to get me to see something.
The message on Sunday was about why we are here on this Earth and why God created us. (This is something I've been struggling with lately. I've been really feeling unloveable and unloved.) That night I was catching up on my homework for the week and what was the days homework about? God's purpose for creating me. The 'coincidence' that the homework and sermon were covering the same topic was not lost me. His purpose in creating me is to LOVE me. He delights in ME! Oh, Beth, through your study God is teaching me this invaluable lesson. He is digging His Word deep into the roots of my heart. Thank you.

You know, I really wanted to walk down to the floor and hug your neck this past weekend, but I told myself that I needed to leave Amanda's mama alone because there were 19,000 other women in that arena who would have loved to have hugged your neck just as much as I did.

But we would have had a big laugh over the sad state of my roots. I probably would have asked you to lay hands on them.

So you just consider this a big ole virtual hug from me. And now I'm going to do a little Beyonce' dance. And I'm so glad that Priscilla can't see me. Because she would be ROLLING.

Well Beth, I'm anonymous most of the time on this blog...nothing hilarious or profound to mention but I am one who loves too. As my eyes well up, I'm just thinking how privileged I am to be on the receiving end of the over-the-top love that Jesus expresses through you. Every time I feel it coming from you or my husband or my babies or a friend, I just shake my head at disbelief and take a deep breath in awe of it all. I can hardly stand it sometimes--the intensity of it. You feel like your heart is going to explode sometimes. But then I think back to when I came into the family of God (with no church background) at age 14...it was all about the LOVE...of the people at that little country church who loved me instantly, effortlessly. It's what ushered me in and into the arms of the Father.

Beth, I love you. I love your heart. BTW, just started Daniel last week with my group. I did the whole week in one sitting. I didn't want it to end.

Beth,
I am so thankful to hear of your God-given "momentary one-on-one encounters" with Sharon and Stacy. Only God could have orchestrated these snap shot visits at the coffee shop. You need to know what a diffence God is making in our hearts because of your obedience to serve Him. You need to know, one-on-one, your life matters to God and to your Siestas.

When He shows you...now that a Blessin'!

We love you, Beth!

Beth,
Thanks for your heart for people. It is deeply and sweetly felt. You walk a tough road, ministering to thousands, I imagine you could end up feeling isolated. Much like a pastor's wife, or a celebrity. I just want you to know that you don't seem inaccessible and that I believe the Lord only holds you accountable for who He puts in your path this day, this moment. I sometimes beat myself up about not talking to everyone at church or not meeting the needs of all the women I minister to, but the Lord has spoken to me and told me that I am only to minister to who He has in mind for me. You spoke of that I believe in one of the studies. Just thought you should know, you are doing it well. I believe He is being honored in it. Thanks for wanting to love on all of us. We know it. We feel God in it. I pray that you feel loved in return, corporately and individually by friends and family that the Lord has given to you. I know I sure am lucky in that department! God is great isn't He? Whew! You go girl! Holy Moly, I'm talking like some kind of Texan again. Look what you've done to the women of this country. I used to speak "normal". Love ya!Julie Brainard, Tucson

As I was reading your post I thought of Deeper Still and how many people were there and I know how you love to go out into the crowd and just touch our faces and hug our necks(and we do to) and have face to face encounters and I know it's hard for you to do that with so many people. As I was up front praying with the sweet women God sent me, I was touched to see you and Priscilla walk by and touch the ladies and I knew you were praying for them. It was a sweet move of the Spirit and I have chills typing this now. It was fun to see the both of you hugging the ladies who were waiting in line on Friday. They were so excited, I was excited. I stepped back and just watched it all. I have a funny thing that happenend to me, I was going to the bathroom and as I was making my way thru the curtain, they were taking Mandisa and Anthony (somewhere) and the bodyguards looked at me funny and I said, all I want to do is go to the bathroom!! The looks on their faces was priceless. I got a Rhema word this past weekend. Actually, more than one. I just sat there and soaked in the Word! Thank you so much for ministering to all of us. I met the LPM Siestas and we laughed and hugged each other and took a bajillion pictures of one another. It was so much fun. The whole weekend was a delight!! I am so excited about tomorrow night. Esther. I thought of making a blog for my study group called ESTHER-Gen. Is that not perfect?!! I am praying for all of you. Have a blessed Monday!!

Just have to say THANK YOU for being a willing vessel at Deeper Still. I wasn't there, but my mother-in-law was and she was blessed, big time. We have been praying for years that she would fall in love with Jesus all over again. This weekend sparked something in her and I can already tell by her e-mail that God used each speaker in a special way. Restoration is beginning! Praise HIM!

I am currently co-leading a small group of ladies and we're going through Living Beyond Yourself. Last week we watched the video where you were saying you and your lovely daughters call everything either a blessing or not a blessing, and I just giggle every time I think of your husband say he was like a blessing in disguise! Meeting you at a Starbucks no less would be a huge blessing for me. Or a God stop. One of those things that I know would not have happened had He not planned it. You're such a beautiful inspiration to me to want to get into His word and learn all I can about what He has to say. I appreciate Him bringing you into my life because I understand the way you teach and the way you put things (Alabama isn't that far from Texas). Thank you for being such a blessing :). Good luck on Esther. I can't wait for the video series so we can see what the set will be like ;). Love in Christ, Cathy

I am an anonymous replier to your blogs. How blessed I have been by your lessons on Full to the Measure. You see, I have tried many things to fill the emptiness. But, as the song says, "Nothing Does Me Like Jesus". Pray for me (I will 65 in Nov.) that I can live the rest of my life so closely following Him that I am "covered with His dust". Self is my biggest addiction. My family is an idol in my life. I want Jesus to be first in my life. Please pray that this will be true. I have done almost all of your studies and have been so blessed by your ministry. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Signed, He knows my name.

Oh Miss Beth ... I just love you. Nothing would make me happier than to hug your neck right now!!! You are such a wonderful friend and teacher ... whether or not I ever meet you!!! I have learned so much from you - not just about God, but about me and being a WOMAN of God and a Godly wife and a Godly mother - I am still learning and you are always teaching... just by being you!!! I am praying SO hard that my hubby and I will find a way for me to be at the fiesta. Coming from Michigan can be expensive, but we are trying to find a way.
In the mean time, the ladies at church are starting a new Beth study this week and I will be there with bells on - 1 week old baby and all!!!! I need it for me AND for my family. I am such a better wife & mommy and GodGirl when I get my Beth fix - because you lead me to Him and HE makes me who I am!
I love ya Beth - please know that all that hard work pays off!

Oh Beth, if only I could tell you face to face what a difference you make in our lives. I realize you are faced with "all of us" and I'm so joyed that you handle it well. If I could - I want to share with you what a difference you are making from "one of us". I am almost finished with week 5 of A Woman's Heart God's Dwelling Place (new updated version). Know that I continue to stay up in the air - constantly reaching for Jesus and I see the changes He is making in me and my life as well as my family. (This isn't the first Bible study - but the most profound at this time). You are the light of the world, I am the light of the world, we are the light of the world. And all this time I was caugth up in such fear and afraid to say anything for I might not get it right. Oh no, I finally see - God wants us to be fueld by the Holy Spirit and tend to those lamps!!! My husband by the way is so thankful for you - b/c of the changes that I've made towards him. The Proverbs dvd's are incredible when it comes to teaching us how to be the wife God has called us to be. Since I began the Bible studies (three years ago)he has seen the changes in me and he has begun some "changing" too - Praise His Mighty Name! My husband's job carries him away much of the time and three weeks ago he brought me a gift - a leather Bible cover. (he never gives gifts). This may mean nothing to many - but he has so often complained (and made fun of) about me and my "books" that I'm always purchasing. For him to have actually bought me a Bible cover is sooo incredible. I couldn't make him do that - it was nothing but God that has brought him to this level. God is doing a mighty thing here in Cheraw, SC and I thank God that He led me to you and Living Proof. I love God, His Word, and His truth... just cannot get enough! Someone needs to hear this - keep believing God for a miracle! I am one! And so is my marriage!!! Love you all so dearly! Please come to SC!! (Or at least Charlotte, NC). In His Mighty Love I Rest and Abide, Alisa

Good morning from Tucson! Just had to start my day with checking the LPM Blog. Our small bible study meets three Tuesdays a month. We are two sessions into "A Woman's Heart..." Just know that all the girls behind the screen in Jenni's living room love you and appreciate so much your solid, biblical teaching! We'll be in Glendale in November for the WOF pre-conference with you.

Thanks too for the wonderful others at LPM. I sent you a prayer request by mail and received a very nice letter back from one of your assistants. I really didn't expect that!

Wow. Thanks Beth! I have slowly read through chapter by chapter of "Get Out of That Pit" and so I could soak it in, go through the questions at the back and journal about it. I finished it last week while simultaneously finishing "Believing God" with some gals from church. Last Friday morning I had awoken from a dream with you in it. Nothing specific, just knowing God had so placed you, Kay, and Priscilla on my mind and heart to interceed knowing that Deeper Still was about to begin. I attended Deeper Still out here in SF. I can't tell all you all the things God has shaken in me through all 3 of these God-times with you. Well, I can tell you...but I'll do it in a letter. Thank you for your heart, your love for Jesus and your love for us...and for telling us!
Much love,
Kelly

As I sit at my computer (still adjusting to the solitary confinement necessary for writing)I'm praying for you from 1 Corinthians 2:13, that you will speak, not in words taught by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. Much love, and blessings from a kindred spirit in Florida.

Thank you, Beth for partnering with the Holy Spirit to give me just what I need. I also am in a "solitary ministry" in two major areas and I gain strength from your ministry and knowing I am not alone. What a beautiful God we serve. He is so sweet to even give us this and other blogs to relate to one another. Thank you Amanda from one preacher's wife to another for keeping is plugged in. My ladies at church are chomping at the bits for "Esther."

Just last night, and today, I was crying out to God with the pace of it all, the impersonal touch of it all. The cadence overwhelms me. My elderly papa being "dissed" at church because he is slow and not all well-thought out, broke my heart yesterday. My little babies (9,7 and 4) all squabbling yesterday and as a single momma, feeling overwhelmed.

And then, dear Abba, sends three breaths of fresh air: a cool "almsot autumn" morning, my little Tadpole stopping at the school curb, turning and saying "I love you mom" and Beth with a heart that touches my heart. All reminders from God on what is real.

Thank you.

Beth,I first "met" you at Calloway Gardens in GA. You came and sat with us between workshops out on the patio and back then we didn't know you except you were this crazy chic from TX that came with Marge. You have been a part of my life for 11 yrs now and I have "been" through a lot with you.
I have been to so many of your conferences and done all of your Bible studies more than once. You and I back in the days have written each other. You read my testimony and I got to see you right after at a conference in GA and you remembered me! So, yes, you are my "sista". The girls at work just consider you one of my friends and the cool thing is...you truly are!!
Thanks for loving us all so deeply and giving so freely of your self to us as a beloved sister in Christ!!!

Oh Beth, how must it feel to you to see all those faces and names and know how much we love you and the ministry you unselfishly provide us? Tomorrow, 16 ladies (at last count) are starting A Woman's Heart-God's Dwelling Place. In our own little way, we'll be huggin on your neck, because you are precious to us too. You are in our prayers. We'll be waiting for Esther!

I told them we (you & me) had been through a lot together. Again crazy looks. I said "Finish this study you will then understand". Thanks for being there for me during the tough times BFF.

Beth,
I am excited and humbled at the same because tomorrow night will be my very first time facilitating one your Bible Studies. We will be doing A Heart Like His. (Actually, it is my first time facilitating ANYTHING!)
Our Pastor's wife approached me a few weeks ago stating that God had laid me upon her heart and wanted me to prayerfully consider facilitating the study. I have to be honest and tell you that I felt like all of the air had been sucked out of the room! Me....facilitate?!? How could I possibly lead a Bible Study with a group of women who know so much more than I do.....women who are so much more Godly than I am.
But God has been gracious with me and He has shown me (through posts like this one) that He has not called me to "lead" but to "serve" these women. It changed my whole perspective. Am I still scared about tomorrow? Of course! Do I hope to do a good job? Of course. But I have realized that if I approach it with a 'servant's heart' that God is the one who is in control and that takes alot of pressure off of me and I don't have to be perfect.....just willing.
Thank you so much and we can pray for each other as we both start our new studies tomorrow.
Thanks, Michelle from Ohio

Beth,

Deeper Still was such a joy and I got a specific Word from God as you spoke -- more about that some other time!

But I just had to tell you that I had 29 ladies show up last night for Believing God! 29!! (Including one precious Julie Goss!)

A fear that I always have as a facilitator is that no one will show up. Can I just say that I walked into my room 20 minutes before class was to start and I had 10 ladies sitting there waiting to start getting into the Word -- HUNGRY AND THIRSTY, I tell you!!! When all 29 stood up and said the Five Statement Pledge of Faith, I sat in the back and wept! They sounded so enthusiastic, excited and believing already!! It is a moment I'll never forget.

I'm praying for you and your Esther girls, but if you happen to think of my group could you just ask God to bless our socks off at Thompson Station Church?

Blessings,
Dori

That is so sweet. I love your ability to remember people...wow...and your love for people totally shows through your words. I really appreciate that.

So which Starbucks will you go to in Denver? On second thought...just skip the starbucks and find the girl standing in line holding two...lol...of course it might be frozen from me sleeping outside overnight to be the first one in...that's what they do here...lol. I'm kidding...really I'm just so excited for the opportunity to go!

I thought about moving to Houston once my job ends here just so I could attend your bible studies, but a funny thing happened...I fell in love...with the mountains that is. So, instead, I have been ruthlessly begging my niece to attend even though it is clear across town for her. I'm sending her a gas card so there are no complaints about the drive...I just know she'll be hooked! If she goes...I can get updates. :)

Ok, I've said enough...ciao for now.

You are such a blessing to those of us on this blog! I was blessed to meet you face to face several years ago when you spoke at Grace CC in Houston, just after it opened in it's new location. I had flown in from Seattle to attend the event with my sister-in-law that had introduced me to your "Beloved Disciple" several years earlier. I was the very last one your ladies let hug you,(only after begging and using my long distance as an excuse)!! I felt that evening that God was verifying that I was on the right journey. Since then I have done all the workbooks and several DVD's. And cannot wait to be able to enjoy Esther through your teaching! Thank you for the love of Jesus you share with us through your studies, LPL, with the Robisons and through your books.

I'm sure we would all love to join you for a cup of coffee and to hear all 'bout Esther first hand tomorrow evening! You'll be in our prayers throughout this series.

Love & blessings,

Beth, I truly believe you have opened a door for women in ministry. You have helped me find courage to use my woman's voice/heart in teaching other women about Jesus.
I pray that God will continue to bless you according to His glorious riches. I pray He will strengthen your inner spirit. I pray He will always be at home in your heart. I pray that God would never let you forget how much He loves you. I ask God to do more for and through you than you could ever ask or imagine and that He would keep on glorifying Himself through your life and ministry.
Can you imagine what it will be like when all of us women are in heaven together in the presence of Jesus? I might have a spell just thinking about it!

Beth,

I don't know if I'll ever get to meet you, for you to know my name and face, but praise God we both know the One who knows each of us more completely than we know ourselves! I just wanted to thank you for the ministry you've been obedient to do, I've been so blessed.

"The Life I Planned" blessed 16 teenage girls at a Chrysalis flight here in Ohio a week ago when I used it to begin my talk on the Single Life. I can only pray that as they are beginning to dream and plan, that they allow God to teach eyes to see and to walk by faith even if it is, as my life is, so very different than the plans and dreams.

I've just started the "Believing God" online study with my mom, and my women's bible study group is going to do the updated "A Woman's Heart" as well. My friend introduced me to you, through your books and studies, and I'll be forever grateful.

Blessings,
Christine

Dear Beth,
I am new to your blog but not your Spirit led teaching. A little over a year ago I (I would say "by chance" but I know it was God!) participated in "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things." I almost didn't go. It was like advertising I was not living as I should. But that study, and coming to understand how I had allowed Satan to influence me, was the way God began to change my life. Thank you for your teaching, combined with your honesty about the pits in your past. I needed to know (still need to some days) that God wanted me back and loved me. Your blog today reminded me to fall on my face before my Savior about some of the things on my plate this week. Thank you.

I feel like you do know me (I feel kind of silly writing that) but I genuinly do...Your ministry is such a blessing! It is SO real and you are so transparent...such a reflection of Him and how He LOVES us too! Thank you! Thank you! Emmy : )

Thank you for loving us and for putting a face on us anonymous bloggers so that we become individuals and matter to you. Today your blog ministered to my heart because I felt so unloved for some reason this morning. What your blog brought up in my heart today was God calls us by name he puts a face on each of us and loves each of us individually as well as corporately. How important that is to be given a face and a name and to be filled to the measure with his love. Your love was recieved today and made me realize how much God wants me to recieve his love. He intends for me to be filled to overflowing so that I can pour out his love on those around me. Just want to say thank you and tell you how much you are loved and prayed for . I thank my God for you upon every rememberance of you. I love you most cause you invite me love my Jesus passionately and because you
are a beautiful reminder of what a christian looks like. You remind me of Jesus. I pray God keeps you company as you are in confinement studying for bible study and he delights your heart with a fresh revelation of how much he loves you and he blesses you with a fresh revelation of who he is. Also that he helps you to know we are with you in prayer and we are hugging you in our prayers and cheering you on. You go girl. Shine for Jesus. We are changing into his likeness,as you help us learn to study his word, as you encourage us to dig deep and as you invite us to passionately pursue our Savior or maybe just slow down and let him catch us. :-)
Thank you Beth. Love you,Stacey

Beth,
I would love to hug your neck! Your teachings and your love for the Lord have been the main reason for the growth I've had the past 5 years. I've never not known the love of God and have always loved Him, but about five years ago when I went to the first Living Proof conference and then began your Bible studies, something in my life changed. I have a relationship with God that I never had before. I love fellowship with my Father.
Please be in prayer as we begin our 8th Beth Moore Study "A Woman's Heart" tonight in our church library. There are 23 ladies signed up. In the first lesson you ask us: "Where are you?" (in our lives) I know of several who are dealing with some really serious health issues among other situations. I have peeked ahead and am so excited about this study and am so excited for the ladies who will be attending. Thank you for loving Jesus enough to work hard and stay so dedicated and thank you for the genuine love you show us.
God bless you as you begin your Tues. night classes. I wish I wasn't 8 hours away and I'd be there!!!
Love you,
Valerie

Thank you Beth, you were with me today as I took apart my kitchen and put it back together! I listened to a few archives from the weekly Bible Study you have at One Place. Lets see, I was able to listen to Then The Lord God Made Woman...wonderful words of truth. I also listened to My Determined Purpose and enjoyed it as well. My favorite is the one I am currently listening to which is from the Precepts Conference, Facedown is the subject. Facedown is the name of my blog. Facedown is where I know God wants me.
Anyway, thank you for making the chore of cleaning the cupboards actually enjoyable! I had a great time with you and incredible fellowship with the Lord! And since I live in MI, I don't think I will be running into you at Starbucks anytime soon, this blog comment will have to do!

Thanks for your comments, Beth. It's so stinkin' cool that you are so real. I often read but don't post thinking "she's got so many to read and so much else to do". As I start leading your study tonight, "A Woman's Heart..." I am at times overwhelmed with what I see as a HUGE responsibility to these 14 women..that and the fact that as much as I want them to change and grow, I also selfishly want to hear from God about who I am to Him. I have been on this journey for a time now, but I still want God to "shock my socks off". I want to be awed and amazed by Him so I am not the same. I want to do what God has called me to do, and then have the faith to "get out of His way!" The next 10 weeks will be a blast (and I told the ladies that already!) Here we go!! Thanks :)

Just wanted to let you know that I am grateful that the LORD gives us a love for people. There really are soo many diverse types of people and women out there. Being at the Deeper Still event was like a people watcher's dream. I was talking to one of my friends that came with us about the tiny glimpse of heaven we get when we see that many christian women in unison singing to Jesus-you really do begin to see how everyone God has made is very precious to him-so they should be precious to you too.

P.S. You know I will pray for you for the Esther study!! I'll pray that you won't feel nauseous:)

Beth,
I just wish I could hug you to pieces. A good Texan hug to show you the love of Christ that you have poured so completely into my life! I would deliver you a cup of Starbucks to your door to show you the gratitude I feel for spilling the joy of the Written WORD into my life. If you only could comprehend the amount of love He showers to all of us through you, you would most certainly not be able to contain yourself!

One short message... I had to fight Satan to get to Deeper Still. I had help to organize 80+ women traveling to Nashvegas to meet with GOD and I ended up being stuck in Madison, AL at work until 5pm. I have struggled with so many disappointments over the last 7 months and one more came my way Friday.. my sweet sisters were on their knees for me in their hotel rooms in Nashville, begging God to make a way for my arrival. I cried the whole way there. I sure am glad Travis sings so well via my IPOD. He got me primed and God carried me to the Sommet right at 7:26 pm Friday night. How precious is God that your message and Priscilla and Kay's felt like they were for me. I could have sworn you were sitting right in front of me holding my hands and sharing your message straight to my heart! I just bawled! I had no idea that I had been that woman holding my heart behind my back in worship.

So this hometown Houston girl thanks you from the bottom of her big heart for doing what you do every day to encourage all us Siestas and to spread the JOY of the Lord to all of us. Thanks for kicking my hind end. I pray that you see, feel, touch the fruit of your (and your family's) labor right here on this great planet.

Praying over you girls and ESTHER!

A very humbled,
Dedra Siesta

Dear Beth,
I don't comment much on here but I stop by often to get "the news" from you and Amanda. :-) The Lord continues to use you most in my life as a mentor in ministry. My parents were in ministry when I was a child and were wounded terribly--ultimately leaving ministry and then one another. I serve in a ministry to hurting ministers and their families these days and so I am keenly aware of how subtle, crafty, and vicious our enemy really is. (I can only imagine how we can ALL attest to this reality.) As my husband and I seek to be faithful to our God and the people He has entrusted to us, it means so very much to have people like you walking humbly before God and others. Thank you for this post, and for remaining true to who God has created you to be. I am praying for you today as you prepare to teach the beautiful story of Esther, and I look forward to being a part of the study in person for the first time ever in a couple of weeks when I will be in Houston for the evening.
(I haven't been to Houston since 1993! So I've got a hankerin' for some Pappasito's!) May He fill you with all the fullness of Himself as never before!

Thank you for all you do in your ministry and how God ministers to this heart of mine through your studies and listening CD's.

Dear Beth,
My husband and I met you last year at the Downpour Conference in Miami. The week-end was amazing. Before we left to head down to Miami my husband said, "I just feel like we are going to meet Beth" Me of great faith said, "I don't think so!" We arrived at the event site and took our seats. My husband went to get a diet coke and met you in the hallway. He joked with you that I was going to be so upset that he met you and I didn't! He so enjoyed his few moments with you. On Saturday after the morning session you were greeting at the front. We went down to meet you. As I was waiting in line it was as if I was waiting to see an old friend. When I met you all I could do was cry and say "I love you Beth" I thought she must think I don't get out much!HEHE You were so real, it was refreshing. My husband says anytime I want to go hear Beth moore its fine with him. Thanks for caring about names and faces. I pray for you often and feel like I know you. I'm doing "To live as Christ" and we are so enjoying the fashionable clothes. I have done all of your studies except the Psalms one. Most of them more than once. Thanks for opening up the word of God. My mother died eight years ago and her last prayer request for me which she had written down in her bible was to have a passion for Gods word. Her prayer request was answered I can assure you of that. I hope to one day meet you again but if not we will get together in heaven.

Mrs. Beth,
Yes, we too feel like we know you so well. that's the beauty of your transparency and authenticity. Just like you were saying in Atlanta at Women of Faith, where's the ministry in not being REAL. I love that. I am so sad I missed Deeper Still, but given I just went to Women of Faith last month, I couldn't do that to my man again (leave him with our kids) Plus it was SOLD OUT. Praise the Lord. It looked like the presence of the Lord was so real to each face I viewed on the Deeper Still blog. I cannot wait until our Fiesta next year. It will be awesome to put faces to these awesome women we read about each week. Thank you for your prayers for us as we are all praying for you here in GA!!!
We are starting Daniel tomorrow morning in our small group women's bible study. I am fired up!!

Beth, I am so excited about your Esther study! I wish I lived in Texas. Get this .... about a year ago, I was praying about what to teach next to my SS class of high school girls. I felt a strong leading from the spirit to teach the entire book of Esther. I've never taught the entire book of anything!

What a blessing! We broke it down word for word and those words came to life for me and those precious girls in our class. I love to hear those teenagers come up to me even now and say, "You know what Deidre, I'm going to do this or that because God asked me to - if I perish, I perish". Wow!! To have that faith when I was young (er). I was so changed by that study - I even named my blog after it.

I can't wait until your study comes out for all of us to enjoy, but until then, please know I am praying for you and your meetings on Tuesday nights - FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS!!!!

My Siestas,

Ya know, I almost have no words...

I can only say I LOVE Jesus, because in the history of a long line of sin...He found us, right where we were...I am just in awe right now, reading Genesis in my Disciple class..

I was touched by what one siesta wrote on " sea of faces", doesn't that just floor you?

And Beth I just have to say, that I am sure God brought this blog to all of us, to keep us ALL grounded, I can not even tell you of all the amazing siestas I have met through this blog...

and I was so not into blogging in the beginning...

Now I just can't keep silent :)

Praise God:)

Humbly standing with you in the agreement that HE is the center of ALL things,

Dear Beth

Thank you so much for visiting us while we were waiting on Friday! It was so special to hug your neck! I wish I could have had time to tell you about all the times the Lord has spoken to me through your studies and books!

The week-end was such a refreshment for me. As you said even pastor's wives can get into a pit. The Lord has me at a crossroads and I am searcing His word so that I will make the right decisions. I think meeting you was a God thing because I had prayed if it was His will that someday I would get to hug the neck of the woman He has spoken so profoundly through.

I love the fact you pray for us. During the conference you talked about hearing the word cancer. I know this might not be the place, but when I got home I found out that the doctor's think my mom has cancer. Could you pray for us?

You are so right, ministry is all about loving God loving people! Loving God loving people is the motto we use in our ministry called Mission Raleigh where we work with urban multihousing communities. It is so important to love people to Jesus!

I will be praying for you and Melissa tomorrow night!

Love ya

Thank you for your prayers for our first Bible study tonight...."A Woman's Heart." We have 24 signed up and 21 were there tonight. We had the best time and just know it's going to be wonderful. As we sat in our church library, one of the first things you said was that you could just picture us in church libraries....and everyone laughed. So many things are going on in the lives of several of these women.
Please be in prayer for a husband of one of our women. His name is David and he sees a surgeon tomorrow to discuss bypass surgery.
My friend had tears flow as she asked for prayer for her precious husband.
Thank you again for the prayers from everyone for this study. I will be in prayer for the Tues. study in Houston.

I had one of "those" moments this morning when I read this post. I was touched that Beth knew and remembered the names of Sharon and Stacy and Boomama and Ocean Mommy and perhaps even the tiniest (well, maybe more than tiny) bit jealous. Then I heard the Holy Spirit whisper into my heart, "But I know your name." What a thrill!! Even if my name is never known by someone famous here on this earth, the King of the Universe knows my name.

Beth, you are so dear to so many of us and we do feel like you are one of our very own girls. Thank you for your heart for all of us and your love for women. Thank you for always being so transparent and so "Beth".

Praying hard for the Esther study.

Oh I can't wait to do that one. As a child sitting in "big" church I had to sit still. My parents didn't allow us to bring toys or other books so I read the story of Esther over and over again.

Thinking about it puts me right back in that pew with scratchy yellow seats and my feet not touching the ground. But I didn't care because I was off in the palace with Esther, walking beside her as she approached the king with fear in her heart but confidence in her God...

I thank you for inspiring in me to pray for a love like no other for the Word of GOD and I got it, Siesta...every last bit of it and it just keeps growing.

Thank you for being transparent so that when I look at you so beautiful and godly that your words about being in the "pit" lets me know that others have been where I was and OUR precious LORD pulled us out by HIS mighty right arm. Praise the LORD!

Thank you for loving us with such a strong and godly love. We love and pray for you too...just like family to all of us!

I'm expecting Him to help me out. I guess I've always been a skimmer, even lazy when it comes to digging deep into what I am reading.

I'm claiming some good coaching by the Holy Spirit and some extra alertness and attention to HIS WORD.

Beth, I saw you once at a Blockbuster on Highway 6, but I didn't say anything to you because, at the time, I was a 'godly person' having just undergone some 'ungodly things' and I was afraid. Years later, I am now entering my second year of seminary in Princeton, NJ, alongside my husband. Your ministry, books, prayers, and person have no small part to play in both of our lives. I do hope that that knowledge provides you with some encouragement today and always, for I know that I am just one of the many 'nameless faces' that the Lord has blessed and spoken to through you.

(And after reading this post, I'll be sure to say hello the next time I see you).

Beth, dear,
I just joined this post and am so awed by the comments of those who are touched by your ministry. I have done a few of your awesome studies and have been deeply challenged.
However, I have been in a deep state of confusion as to what He would have me do. I have sooooo many "visions" or desires to glorify Him in many creative ways, but fear and anxiety paralyze me. So do issues with my family. We have been through incredibly terrible times and praise God, He's brought us through, but not without gaping wounds that refuse to completely heal. I know that God wants to use me to bless others going through tough times, and I should be "there" by now but I am so very confused. I chose to trust Him to convey His will to me and help bring focus and fruit in my life. Would you pray with me along these lines if it is your habit to do so? God Bless all of you sisters in Christ and the influence you have with all those you come in contact with.
I don't feel I have an "in" to "hug" you, it sure would be one of my greatest desires to have a blessed conversation with you, though.

I can't wait for Esther to come out (I think from what I read on here it's coming out ... I hope it's coming out ... :) I hope the first night was amazing. I just started A Woman's Heart and it's so stinking fabulous. I wanted to send another name that might be a big encouragement - we call her "Della" and she's a 28 year old woman presently serving in Iraq (who also happens to go to my church; my mom has served in a mentor capacity to her for a few years now). Dell asked my mom to send her blue cords for the women in her unit! I asked her to send me a pic when they're all wearing them - nothing like a blue cord to rock out a camo ensemble :) A few weeks ago a whole box of Daniel studies came to HER unit (they were supposed to to go Illinois or somewhere random) and so they'll be doing Daniel as well ... which I'm sure takes on a whole new meaning if you can actually see the world Daniel called home. I know your words have been a big encouragement to her, and some of the women in her unit, some of whom don't know the Lord personally. So thanks L-Proof! Love and lattes :)

I have prayed for years as I ministered to the women in our church for God to give me a way to be poured into also.(selfish of me,isn't it)but our Great Loving Father in all of his wisdom has allowed me this wonderful internet outlet to share and be fed, and feel a deep heart connection to all of our siestas and you and Amanda. What joy to know that you want to be connected to us also! I will be praying for you and the bible study tonight. Wish I could be there - but it's a long drive from Alabama. Thanks again Beth for being obedient, and loving and truly reflecting the love of our FAther.

Beth,
Words cannot express how much I have been blessed by God through you! I pray that one day I can have you over to just "chit-chat" about life in Christ. I love you and I thank you for your ministry.

Big squeeze hug:)

I usually watch Life Today and last week I missed it during the day so I watched it that night at 10:30. It turned out to be a great thing because my husband watched it with me! You happened to be sharing the story of brushing the gentleman's hair in the airport. It was an amazing thing because my husband suddenly got why women are so drawn to you and your teaching. Keep on keeping on whether you know our individual names or not - God knows and He is using you!

Your authenticity is the place where God works. He works a miracle each time you are willing to go "there".

I am forever grateful for your transparent ministry.

I enjoyed what I heard yet kicked myself for what I missed. Found a busy week, diet, exercise and no caffeine for 24+ hours led me to slumber throughout the day Saturday. I look forward to Louisville and know better how to prepare...things go better with Coke. Blessings.

Hi there my dear Miss Beth,

I want you to know that I felt, and still feel, as if the Holy Spirit Himself speaks right through you directly into my own personal situation(s), even when I was in a group of 3,000 + dear women at your Tuesday night studies when I lived in Houston a few years back.

And, even now that I live up here in Wisconsin, I want you to know that He still works this way through your books and studies, etc.

And, I want to thank you for allowing Him to shine through you in such a special way, to both me, and to others.

I am just finishing up re-reading "Get Out of That Pit" as I have been working through the study guide in the back of the book recently, and it has helped me to learn so much about pits, and that although I know that I used to live in one for a long while, I do believe that I am NO longer in that "pit", as I have been "clinging to Jesus" for these past several years, and pray each day to do my best to do His will, and NOT my own any longer.

Not that the Lord hasn't allowed the Enemy to play "hard ball with me Big Time" recently, though. [The Lord has allowed some rather serious physical problems to come into my life, and into my parents' lives, but I still plan to hang onto Him for dear life.] I simply pray that I have "caught more fiery darts" in my "shield of faith" than I've allowed to come through to hurt me.

However, I still know for sure that I know who God is, and that even through the pain and difficulties, I KNOW that He is a good and faithful God, and that He has been taking care of me, as I try to help my parents out as much as I possibly can via His 'dunamis strength' and perseverance, moment by moment, and one day at a time ...

And, even if He does not allow me to see or meet you again in person here on earth, I know that I will be able to enjoy spending time chatting with you in Heaven one day; after Father God helps us get our faces up off of Jesus' feet, that is ... =)

And, I look forward to seeing what He has in store for both of us, you with your newest Tuesday evening studies, etc., and me as I search earnestly, and wait to see where He places me next, job wise, now that my job as "Craft Lady" at a local Bible Summer Camp has ended. [What a blast in the Lord that was, though!]

And, I want you to know that I pray for you and your precious family regularly.

Many << HUGS>> to you!!!

In Christ's mighty Love,

Jennifer O.

Beth,
Many years ago as a new mom, I went to my first LPLive - in Bowling Green, KY! You called us to come forward and pray. My burdens were small compared to others - but real to a new stay-at-home mom. I was one of the first to come forward and you came and touched me and prayed out loud for me. I was moved by the personal touch you gave to me. I look back and laugh because I thought you had come down to pray JUST over me (I had my eyes closed). I was so encouraged by your touch and your prayer - I could feel the Holy Spirit. When I finally got up I realized I was one of so many that you were touching and praying for! I felt foolish for thinking I was "special" in some way. Many years and many studies later, I know that you are one of many vessels that the Lord uses to teach us that we are the "Apple of His Eye." Thank you for touching thousands of women in His name and for His sake.

Dearest Beth,

I am in Nashville praying for you and all the beautiful women you are speaking to now in Houston. I cannot wait to do the study on Esther someday with my precious bible-study group. Many of us were blessed to attend the Deeper Still event this past weekend, and as always we are changed, yet again...and more and more in love with our Father and Christ Jesus. We thank you for your obedience to the spirit and not to your nerves.

Please tell Keith that it means so much to us that he prays over you, and that he prays for us. You and he may never fully now how that has blessed me.

Love your sister in Christ,
Melissa in Nashville

What a sweet post, Beth. Thank you. Because what you bring and explain and help us with has such incredible, INCREDIBLE power in our lives, we tend to feel as if we know you personally. I imagine all of us say to others, "Beth says. . ." all the time --- as if we just had Starbucks WITH you intead of seeing you on a DVD or hearing you, or reading your printed words. It is sweet to believe and know you have a heart for the individuals who are inside each of us. How MUCH, much more good will it get through the years and then to experience Bible Study with you in Heaven with THE TEACHER leading it all!!! Hallelujah, huh? --- My personal heart is broken right now because my sweet Daddy passed away a month ago and everything is so raw. My mother is alone after being with him for 66 years... inconsolable, actually. I look forward to all being our own sweet family again someday, but the todays are very shockingly different and sad.

I'm happy to look forward to Esther. I love her anyway.. and you... and your girls. This blog is sooooo cool! Hugs and prayers and a cup of coffee in my gramma's cups ---- from me to you! -- Gayla

Beth: Your genuine precious love for all of us girls shines through in your ministry to us. And to know that you really want to know "names and faces" just cements that in my heart.

Thank you for being so real. We loved seeing you from "afar" :) at the Downpour event in Nashville this past weekend. Glory - glory - your message Saturday morning was a great breakthrough in my heart for some things I've been praying about for about a year now.

Thank you, Mrs. Beth. Your ministry to us Pastor's wives is precious.

We need you.

I love you. Don't ever let that nightmare you described of losing touch with people ever keep you from sleep. Rest on, Beth. You are a JOY to us all.

I was just thinking today about your names and faces blog. Beth, I just thank you so much for your love of all of the siestas here and those to come...but I was just wondering if there were any siestas like me, who feel strongly that we are a part of this Blog but never post anything, just read, read, read!!! I wonder if there are any "Shy Siestas" like me...I bet we might be surprised at the numbers of siestas just "listening" in and lovin' it! Thanks again for this community! I love to read it EVERY day! We are praying for you Beth!!! Such a big day!

I haven't commented in a long time, b/c I just think how in the world does she have time to read all those comments? I forget too easily that you might actually ENJOY reading them and connecting as well.
I just love you to pieces!

Thank you, Beth, for your love for me, an unseen siesta, but one who God has touched through your ministry. I don't know what I'd do without your encouragement to pursue Jesus. I love you for being my "Elijah" (although I am certainly no Elisha).I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. You are the only one I "know" who truly pursues Christ. May God continue to bless you with His Presence, love, and power. From a former captive who now lives free from panic and depression, by the grace of God.

Beth,
Hi, this is my first time on you blog and I have enjoyed reading and looking at some the pictures (Jackson is adorable!!) I just wanted you to know that I attended your conference here in MI in Feb and that it made a difference in my life. I brought one of your devotional journals A Heart Like His and it has help me in my walk with him. Thank you for all you do for the love of Christ,

Beth, I am more amazed every day how God speaks through you. I watched you on Life Today yesterday morning, and don't want to mention it here but I am in need of God's intensive care, so completely overwhelmed, but somehow I knew He would speak to me through you, can't wait for next week to see what is the next step.

I am so excited by your blog and your whole ministry! I have just begun a woman's ministry with a close friend. We have seen the exciting things that Jesus has done in our own lives and are desperate to bring His power to other women. I have begun teaching Believing God in a small group setting. It is an amazingly powerful study!
God Bless you all for your work.

I just loved what you said about getting up close, getting names, etc. What I like about going to your events (let's see I've been to Greensboro, Knoxville and Boone) besides the awesome Bible teaching is standing in line at the bathroom. I have met so many wonderful women, old and young. In Boone I met a beautiful young woman who was one of the persons from a nearby church who were asked to minister at the altar call and she was nervous so we lifted her up in prayer and you and the praise team... When I went to Knoxville, by a huge fluke we got there so late that it was beyond "nosebleed". So...I went down in the lower tier as Travis and the group started up and had a great time in the aisle and with the women who got out there with me! Please come back to some place near western NC. We all love you in our beautiful Smoky Mountain paradise!!!!

Beth, Your post had tears streaming down my face. You are so genunine, loving, and sold out to Jesus. Thank you for serving Him as unselfishly as you do. I am holding on spiritually until you come to Denver this Friday. God is working on me and its so painful to die to your flesh. Thank you for your love, wisdom and encouragment. I pray that God will renew and refresh you as you travel. Can't wait til your Ester study comes to our church.

Beth ~

I must be honest, last summer I was supposed to attend the OKC LPL with my sisters that I led in Bible study... I planned the trip, made the reservations ordered the tickets, and planned an outing on Friday to the Bombing Memorial. Then, I got sick. Kidney Stones on top of 9 months of grief and 6 months of working 6 hour days came along and smacked me to the ground, I am quite sure that the enemy himself put taped up his knuckles to deliver that blow!

I was so discouraged, but I knew that for some reason I should not go. Well, on Friday while my beloved sisters were at the Bombling Memorial they came within a few feet of you and well, they had a blessed moment in the presence of a humble, loving servant of God. They called me straight away! They later called to say they sat front row center for the entire event! I was at first disappointed and suddenly realized that my tendancy to get starstruck would have completely distracted me from everything else that happened that weekend. You are, my sweet siesta teacha, the real deal! All the way!

So, since I missed the LPL in OKC, I made a reservation to go to LPL in Bossier City, LA in March... My man and I made the drive out on Thursday night after he got off work, spent the day toddling around the boardwalk, and I was sick yet again! Not to mention we stayed in a real dive - It was a well known chain hotel in a really old, run down building. But, alas, a pair of shower shoes and finding lots to do outside the hotel made it bearable. I just asked God to bless and protect us - and I did have my man by my side the whole time.

He lovingly dropped me off in front of the steps and fought traffic and persuaded police officers directing traffic to let him back in to pick me up! Being alone, I could pick just about any seat in the house - I found one on the front row just a few feet from where you were sitting. I didn't have to meet you to have my socks blessed off - it was so precious to sit only feet from you and worship the Lord knowing how true your heart is toward God. Feeling the Spirit descend in that place, with all those women there seeking God with eveything they had was such a blessing. I know you and Travis and all the LPL team members at Lifeway and LPM make it happen, but God really delivers when His people are sold out seekers and that is exactly what you all are! Beautiful inside and out!

You bless my socks off each time you speak, each time you tell a story of someone you meet or a poor redbird pecking itself silly because it is crazy with it's own reflection... or just talking about great big grandma banners and little bitty baby banners and praise dancing with your fave baby dude, Jackson... whatever it is you deliver through God's heart and His hand, it is a blessing and it inspires me to live beyond myself in the Kingdom realm loving every minute of life that God has given me - whether in joy or pain! Life is worth it, definitely worth it!

BLessings Mrs. Beth... your are loved, prayed for and I praise God personally for what has been funneled into my life through your teaching and your testimony.

Love you,
Michelle

:o)... Oops... in my previous post I wrote the many things that landed me in a position not to go to OKC - I was working 16 hour days for about 6 months straight... to my shagrin when I read the post --- I wrote 6 hour days... Not too overwhelming unless you are a slacker like me!

Cest la vie,
Michelle

A blessed day and many hugs to you Beth! And to your daughter, Amanda! This is an awesome site! I just want to introduce myself. I'm a new born again sister in Christ. I became born again two months ago after living in sin for nearly 14 years. I grew up a christian in a christian home, but slid back after I joined the military. And I'm proud to say that I love Jesus and I love God with all my heart and soul. I'm a mom to my miracle baby (she's only 7 1/2), devoted wife for 13 years, and looking forward to doing more Beth Moore studies with the ladies of my new church. I wish you could come to visit our growing church in southeast Virginia. You're a blessing and inspiration to all of us sisters. As I like to say.. Keep it rolling!

Peace and God bless y'all!!
