What's Up For Thanksgiving?
Hey, my dear Siestas!
How is my favorite blog community doing this fine holiday season? It's Monday and LPM is closed all week so we can all have an extended Sabbath and spend a little extra time with our families. The staff works so hard through the Fall semester of Bible study that, by Thanksgiving, everybody could use a rest in the worst - and best (we love what we get to do!) - way.
Melissa's already here and her darling Colin will join us tomorrow. Our men let us have a special weekend just with the girls so she, Amanda, and I have already had the best time together. We laughed until, honestly, I pulled a muscle in my stomach. I'm not even kidding. I can't remember ever doing that in my entire life but we got that kind of tickled when you think you're going to throw up or your face is going to freeze in a contortion. The stupid part of it is that I can't even remember exactly what originally got us tickled but it was in a restaurant and I doubt anybody was blessed but us.
We will have a big four-generation family Thanksgiving here at my house with several new guests followed by a tad quieter Christmas. Keith, the Joneses and I will all head to Atlanta soon after for the Passion conference. That's one reason Thanksgiving will be our big holiday blow out this season instead of Christmas. Amanda is going to bring this incredible pumpkin dessert that you serve warm and I'm sure Melissa will fix something really good. She hasn't committed yet. I'll do the traditional Thanksgiving meal. As poor a cook as I am, generally speaking, I make a really good meat-and-potatoes meal. I can make cornbread dressing nearly as well as my mom did and Amanda lives for it every year. I have this small window of opportunity to be built up for my cooking so I relish the fleeting moment.
I can't wait for the big family to see Annabeth. Jackson has always been a huge crowd pleaser and, boy, is his sister trying to hog some of his spotlight. She is at that stage where she is doing something new constantly. Crawling all over the place. Starting to say a few words (we should have "Bibby" mastered by Christmas), waving, clapping her hands, laughing her head off, and giving her big brother a run for his money over his toys. My firstborn is about to have her hands FULL because her baby is going completely mobile. I think God makes toddlers extra cute so their parents can bear the trouble.
OK, I'm anxious to hear what you guys are doing for Thanksgiving, even if it's just regular stuff. That's the best kind of holiday if you ask me. So here are three questions so we can see what everybody's up to this week:
1. Where will you be for Thanksgiving and with whom?
2. Do you guys eat turkey and dressing or do you have a different tradition? If so, what is it?
3. What's your one favorite dish at Thanksgiving?
Like you, we Moores, Joneses, and Fitzpatricks have so much to be thankful for. God has been unreasonably good to us but, of course, that's the nature of divine grace. We have had a really challenging 2009 in several respects that we haven't necessarily been free to share on such a public format but God has been active and powerful in our midst. Several of those situations are ongoing so you won't waste a prayer on us right now. I will look forward to sharing about some of the things we're walking through as we get to the other side and have some of the clarity and revelation that retrospect brings. Meanwhile, we need God enough for His Word to be such life and breath to us that we're not taking a lot of spiritual time off...and that's the way I like it. Many wonderful things have happened, too. I'm sure our lives are much like yours: a wild concoction of joy, laughter, pain, and bewilderment. Our one true unmovable thing is Jesus. He continues to be the uncontested center of life around here. Even when we waver, wander, or stumble, He remains steadfast and faithful.
Later in the week I'll give you a chance to let us know what this holiday season finds you most grateful for. I'll look so forward to that.
Amanda, Melissa and I are honored to serve you. You are loved here. Let me know what you guys are up to!

Hey, Beth! Love ya love ya love ya!
1) This year, my family was invited to eat with some older friends of ours for Thanksgiving and I'm so thrilled! We are away from family and I miss them so much.
2) Yes, turkey and dressing. I grew up on my grandma's stuffing with chicken giblets in it- so good! But my husband only likes the Pepperidge Farm stuff, that's okay. i want to please him!
3)My favorite dish is squash casserole. Me and my daughter fight over the last of it.
You have a good one! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!
i cannot believe i'm the first responder to show on the blog! amazing!
thanksgiving is a huge deal for my dad's side of the family. it's everyone on his side and i've looked forward to it every year that i was able to understand the excitement. i still have the same excitement every year and it doesn't fade! now, i have cousin's that have their very own children too and we are growing up with that same importance of getting together and giving thanks on thanksgiving. it's great. sad to say, though, that this year i'll be missing it to join with my husband's family for thanksgiving. i know we have to switch sides, but it is so hard! thanksgiving isn't nearly as big as mine every year. i know that we will have a great time too with my in-laws but i am sad for giving up my side of the family for thanksgiving. ;(
answers:
1. with my husband's side of family. small gathering.
2. yes, we do traditional thanksgiving all the way.
3. oyster dressing
have a happy thanksgiving! so much to be thankful for! God is the giver of them all!
Just me and my 2 daughters and hubby at home here in Vermont.
traditional...:)
My favorite would have to be the gravy, seems it's the only time I make or eat it... and pumpkin pie. :)
1) We are spending our Thanksgiving with our dearest friends in Virginia right before we leave them four days later to move across the country. :( It's probably going to be my favorite Thanksgiving ever! :)
2) We have six children under 8 between the two families so we opted for a deal that our local grocery store does that cooks everything for you and you just reheat it. All for $39.99! I can't even tell you how blessed I am already.
3) Stuffing, stuffing, and more stuffing.
Love you, sisters! Hope you have an amazing holiday!
I will be in Charlotte, North Carolina this year with my mom, sister, and numerous other women. It's going to be 'estrogen-overload' this year.
My mother's a chef and over the years has done everything with the turkey that can be done with it. She has decided to make a prime rib this year. I'm not all happy about it, since I love turkey and recently gave up red meat. But the dressing is my favorite part of the meal, so I guess I'll just get a double portion of that.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
1. We'll be with my in-laws, whom I love dearly.
2. We'll be having the traditional turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes...pecan pie, etc.
3. The dresssing is my favorite; I may not eat anything else!

Happy Thanksgiving to y'all too!
As we live overseas, it's always a bit different, but here goes...
1. We will celebrate on Saturday since it's business as usual here in the UK. We will celebrate with 9 American university students and 9 British university students. I'm tempted to make us wear Indian hats and the Brits wear Pilgrim hats. :)
2. We will have turkey and ham, and whatever else we can round up here. It's not as easy because we can't get some of the traditional ingredients. However, I paid almost and arm and a leg for 3 cans of pumpkin. I was not about to roast my own for a pie.
3. My favorite is my Nannie's Pumpkin Bread.
Hey Mama Beth,
so glad to hear from ya! So glad you and your sweet girls had a great weekend.
1. This year we are eating my brother in law's and I am so happy about that as I have a very small house.
2. I will be taking turkey as my hubby's dear family eats prime rib. The first time I had Thanksgiving with them..I was what is wrong with this family...what no turkey...Thanksgiving to me is all about the turkey. So it has become a standing joke that I won't come unless someone brings the turkey. I am also taking chocolate pie as it s the day after my birthday...I was a Thanksgiving baby so dear sweet mama cooked dinner and never got to eat. But chocolate pie is a standard with the pumpkin for me.
3. My favorite dish is dressing and of course the turkey.
Like yall we are so thankful for many things this year. I will be saying a prayer for yall and all the dear siestas.
love to you all,
Tammy S.
1. Thanksgiving is at our house. My parents will join the 5 of us. Our call into ministry took us far from family*, so having family for a holiday is always special.
2. We do the traditional thanksgiving turkey. My kids don't care for most of the sides, so we're mixin' it up a bit. Still doing sweet potatoes and stuffing.
3. My favorite dish is the sweet potatoes with brown sugar and pecans on top. I could eat the whole dish...which is why then won't be on the table this year...or maybe they will!
Diane
Gig Harbor, WA *not a bad place or God's ministry call to take us. We are blessed and very thankful!
1) This year we'll be spending the day with my precious mother-in-law. Last year, on Thanksgiving Day, her sweet mate for 43 years went on to GLORY. My husband especially needs your prayers on this day. It will all be so tender and sweet.
2) Turkey, dressing, and 3-day coconut cake.
3) I love the sweet potatoes. You know, in the South, we sprinkle brown sugar and pecans on top and call it a casserole. Nothing like it.
Have a fun, fun day with those babies and your people. I am thanking the Lord for Living Proof Ministries today. Aren't you thankful for technology?
Paige from Alabama
Happy Thanksgiving, sweet Beth, to you and yours!
1. We will also be having a 4-generation family gathering at my house. We will be celebrating our sweet little 8-month old granddaughter's first Thanksgiving! I'm a first-time Mimi and it is wonderful!
2. We do have turkey and dressing, but I'm going to let Cracker Barrel Restaurant cook that for me. I'm preparing sides and my Mom brings desserts. (Do you have Cracker Barrels in Texas?)
3. Our favorite dish is sweet potato casserole with a coconut, brown sugar, butter and pecan topping. Yum!
1)We will head to Atlanta (from KY) to spend time with my husband's family. We do some house hopping so we can spend time with both his mother and father's side.
2)We do the traditional turkey meal. And thank goodness, because I start thinking about it several weeks in advance.
3)My favorite dish is hard to pinpoint because the whole meal is my favorite. But I'll choose the potato casserole. His aunt makes the best version!
my stomach is growing all ready!
Hope you have a blessed time with your family.
1) As for my Thanksgiving, my man and 2 little boys are traveling to my parents where my sister and her family are.
2) We eat turkey and dressing every year (usually fried turkey). My sister's mother-in-law makes "cracker" dressing. Never had it until they started coming to our dinner but it is delicious.
3) My husband taught me the joy of corn pudding. He doesn't think it's Thanksgiving until there is corn pudding. Now, I love it too! Yum Yum!! Oh, and Sister Schubert parkerhouse rolls.
1. We have had a change of plans. My mother got sick and will be unable to travel so my husband and I are headed her way.
2. We eat the traditional meal. Lots of carbs!
3. I love dressing. Good old corn bread dressing with a little gravy.
My family is going to my mom's an hour and a half away. We always have the traditionally extremely burnt T-giving fare, (my husband "makes me" feed him well later). If it wasn't burnt at my mom's, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving.
My favorite dish is coconut pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate pie...you get the idea...PIE!!
I love you so much right now, Ms. Beth...you have no idea.
I am praying.
Hey Beth and fellow siestas!! I'm cooking Thanksgiving all by myself this year for the first time (I'm only 23 and have always gone to my parents). But lets add to that stress the fact that my future in laws are coming for the meal, oh yeah... and I forgot to mention, this is the first time I've ever laid eyes on them! They are not christians and the only information I've pulled out of my man is... "Good luck with my mom." STRESS doesn't begin to touch me at this moment. I need some P-R-A-Y-E-R!!!! Why is it that you can never officially have a "clean house" if someone important is coming over?? No matter how many days you spend cleaning... i'm rambling.... okay... back to reality... sure hope everyone has a blessed thanksgiving... love you all!!!
~Amanda (Georgia)
1. Where will you be for Thanksgiving and with whom? We will eat at my mom's. It will be me and my daughter, not sure about my hubby who is a truck driver and may not make it home in time- say a pray that time will go in his favor. My brother, sister in law and 9 mos old nephew. My parents are divorced but my mom has invited my dad and some of his relatives, so I'm not sure if they will all come or not.
2. Do you guys eat turkey and dressing or do you have a different tradition? If so, what is it? We eat traditional, turkey and ham. I've been trying for years to do something non traditional but no one will budge!
3. What's your one favorite dish at Thanksgiving? Anything w/sweet potatoes.

Hey Beth!
I'm totally looking forward to seeing you at the Passion Conference in January....you have no idea!!! I'll be the absolutely crazy one in the crowds : )
1) I'm getting together with my Dad's family on Thursday...it will be a huge gathering as all 36 of us get together for an awesome time of fellowship and feasting!
2) We are definitely a turkey and dressing kind of family and in fact my sister and I were just discussing how we cannot wait to load our plates with nothing except turkey and Grandmother's dressing (smothered in gravy of course) and a humongous portion of corn casserole....
3) My absolute favorite dish is my Aunt's corn casserole....makes the holidays better I tell ya!
Thanks for being obedient to the Lord and allowing us to follow along in your journey. And you are most definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you have an awesome time with your family!!!
~Rachel
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
1) I will be with my family and we have added a new addition to out family this year in the form of a soon to be sister-in-law and so we are combining families for the first holiday together we can be rather loud and obnoxios I sure they are ready but,it should be a blast!
2) Turkey and dressing all the way!!!! I can't wait, after being away from home from August to November and surving and Wendy's and McDonald's I am ready for some TURKEY!!!!
3) You would think turkey would be my favorite right but what I am really ready for is the homeade macaroni and cheese YUMMY I can smell it already.
Have a great Thanksgiving Moore Clan!
Hey!
Thanksgiving this year is at my mom's house here in town. It will be my husband and I, mom, and my brother. We might go see my dad and his wife and family as well. Sigh. Holidays are so hard on divorced families. But it gets a little easier every year.
We are definitely the traditional turkey dinner family!
I think my favorite dish is the sweet potato casserole, with layers of mashed sweet potatoes and a brown sugar, butter, and pecan mixture. SO YUMMY. I can't wait to eat!

For the first time, this Thanksgiving my husband and I are spending it alone. We look forward to it. Both my kids are going to their in-laws, my mom and siblings are doing other things with family.
I am making a ham with all the other dishes. I will make chocolate pudding pies for my husband, a tradition in his family which I've carried on with our family now. It HAS to be cooked pudding not instant! and he can tell the difference!!
I look forward to the cooking.
And of course, we do start the day out with attending Thanksgiving service in the park with our church.
Blessings to all the Moores, Joneses and Fitzpatricks. I'm thankful for all of you.
I love Thanksgiving. It's one of the few times each year that all the cousins got together when I was growing up. Now we're all grown up and our children are the cousins. It's fun to see them playing like we used to.
I'll spend this year with my parents and sister (who is pregnant) and brother-in-law and my foster baby (whom I'm hoping to adopt).
We will have Turkey and all the fixins. I can't wait for my birthday pumpkin pie. :)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL too!!! As a mom, I know you are in heaven having your "girls" and sons-in-love home. We have two daughters also, and they are both coming home - I can hardly wait and look forward to our walks/talks so much that I can hardly stand it!!!
1. Our little family unit will be at our house in East Texas and we are going to get my mom-in-law for a couple of days.
2. Turkey and all the extras. We started having a cajun creamed spinach dish a few years ago and always have to have it on the menu. My sister-in-law used to always bring it and now that she has passed on, we still make it in her honor.
3. My favorite is the turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce sandwich for dinner that night!!!!My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I would like to have Amanda's pumpkin dessert!!
Blessings in abundance,
Betsy
As a new bride 10/10/09. My husband and I will be having thanksgiving with friends who are like family to us. Both my husband and I are from the Midwest and now we are in NC so we will be away from our families. We thank God we have friends to share with otherwise were not sure what we would do w/ ourselves. But looking forward to starting some new traditions and spending our 1st Thanksgiving together as a "married couple"!
Happy Thanksgiving! My family and I will spend it at home eating the traditional turkey dinner. My most special dishes have to be dessert. I have a wonderful apple pie and pumpkin bread recipe that everyone looks forward to!
God bless and enjoy the day!
Tammy,
Lusby, MD
1. Here, with my folks who live nearby and traveling cousins. It's our third "tradition" since being married...it changes as people move or grow up or go to heaven.
2. Turkey - with at least two kinds of stuffing.
3. Any dessert with chocolate. Somethings are NOT seasonal.
Hey Beth & Family:
We are doing low key as minimal extended family will be home. Traditional turkey, stuffing, etc. with the addition of a new marinated carrot recipe. Lots of pies, too. Blessings.
1. We are spending Thanksgiving day with my extended family on my mom's side (Dad's gets Christmas) and my sweet mother-in-law, who is a trooper for joining chaos that isn't her family's, is staying with us for the entire weekend. Saturday we will do the traditional meal with my husband's family. It is a holiday weekend not one day and we love it.
2. Totally traditional food all the way!
3. My mom's stuffing is the BEST! About 10 of us wrestle for the last bit of it. I've started making it for my husband's family so I get more! They love it too.
Mrs. Beth,
So good to hear from you.
1) For the last 8 years family comes to my house for Thanksgiving lunch. We will have four generations there(Four generations of my family and four generations of my husbands family.) My daughter has three great-grandmothers living. Isn't that special!!!
2) We have the traditional turkey and dressing. However, my husband deep fries the turkey. My mom will also fix a ham. Everyone will bring a dish. So I don't have to do all the cooking.
3) My favorite dish is pineapple casserole!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to LPM!!!
From Mary H. in Ardmore, AL
Beth, I am praying that none of your previous health issues has raised its ugly head again! We need you out here and treasure you more than you'll know on this side. My #2 daughter and her precious fam. (hubby, plus girl, 4 yrs. & boy, 18 mos.) are traveling along with me to visit my 95 year old mother in Fla. She's in good health and LOVES Jesus (you might say, it runs in the family). We'll be eating turkey w all the trimmings at my OLDER sis' house, who lives in the same town. My fav is probably sweet potato casserole, altho it all goes together so well, hard to pick just one. I pray our Lord's blessings on you & yours this Thanksgiving; one of the things I'll be thanking Him for is "wild & crazy" YOU. Looking so forward to the David study in the spring!
Hilda in Houston
Hey Beth,
What a treat to hear about your celebration and then to share ours:
1)We are going out to a restaurant to eat with our dear friend Dorothy, who lives in a nursing home. She can't get up the steps at our house any more so we have a nice place to take her to instead. They are serving a traditional Thanksgiving feast "family style" and we get to take home the left-overs. Our daughter will be with us, my hubby's brother and wife and another friend if she can make it.
2)Turkey and all the trimmings are what we like. I love to be the cook but will enjoy the day off from cooking this year.
3)My favorite is the dressing. Mine is just like Mom's so I will enjoy trying someone else's recipe.
We are excited about sitting around the table and sharing stories of thankfulness. I hope you have a wonderful week off.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!
1)We will be at my parents with 4 generations - probably 75 of us!!
2)We refer to our meal as "The Oyster Roast". In addition to the steamed oysters, everyone brings 2 dishes of their choice. I'm bringing a smoked ham and a spinach salad.
3)Homemade mashed potatoes with turkey gravy. What a treat to have the real stuff!
Love and prayers to everyone at LPM and all my siestas!

Happy Thanksgiving (early)
We will have the traditional dinner at home with 4 of our 5 children and then in the evening will be with my in-laws for dessert!
On a completely unrelated note...the bible study group I lead just finished the Esther study last night and girl I have to say you outdid yourself with that one. You have never see 30 women so thrilled to study something in your life. From the ladies of Centennial ARP Church thanks from the bottom of our hearts for your passion for the study of God's word. We were truly blessed!!
Julie
I will be with my wonderful daughter, her precious husband, grandson and granddaughter. The meal will be at my son-in-law's Dad's home.
Of course, we will have the traditional turkey and dressing (my daughter, like yours Beth) insists on my dressing and I'm pleased to oblige!
Our favorite dish is sweet potato casserole! Yum!
Blessings to you and yours!
I have prayed and will continue to pray for you all.
Sincerely,
Happy Thanksgiving!
1) We're having Thanksgiving with my parents and my brother's family. SO hoping that my grandparents (age 97 & 95- married for 65 years) will be able to make it... it's been a hard year for them! My grandad is the closest thing to Jesus I've ever seen.)
2) Turkey & dressing fo sho!! I think my youngest is spreading his wings and will try it this year, too!
3) My favorite dish is my grandmother's tamale pie. This is my second year taking over that family tradition. Last year it tasted great, but was a little too wet. Hope I can do her justice this year...
Love to you and your family! I just finished your Breaking Free study and am still floating daily over how beautiful God is and how He is entralled by my beauty, as well... I'm so in love with Him I could burst!
1. We go over the creek and through the woods, to Memaw's house we go. It's 3 miles by road or 1 mile as the crow flies. It's my mom and dad, brother, sister-in-law, 3 nieces, my husband, our daughter, and me.
2. My mom does the turkey and dressing, my sister-in-law and I contribute.
3. My mom's coconut cake.
PRAISE REPORT TIME!!! I posted on the Back-to-school post that my 15yr.old daughter w/autism is starting high school. THANK YOU LORD!! She loves it. She is mainstreaming in 2 classes and doing WELL!!! Thanks everybody for praying.
donna mt. pleasant nc
1) Thanksgiving will be spent with the family. They're all here so we don't have to travel.
2) Fried turkey and dressing... the best way to go :)
3) My favorite, of course, is the turkey. I only get that good fried turkey once a year so it's definitely my favorite :)
Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful, Beth!!.. I'll be praying for you and your family. Love you!
Hey there blogger fam! Okay, here goes:
1)Darling hubby and the kiddos and myself (with new baby Caleb) are going to my grandparents' farm. It's a tradition, we always have Thanksgiving there, and we just finished having one on my Dad's side of the family this past weekend.
2)We always have the same things, the traditional Thanksgiving day feast. Turkey, ham, stuffing, and tons of pies.
3)My favorite is the whipped cream. NOT COOL WHIP! There is a big difference! The whipped cream with way too much sugar drenched over either pumpkin or chocolate pie, followed by several cups of just plain whipped cream in a bowl.
Hope your family has a great time together! I'll pray for you guys!
kaci
My parents and I are going to the cracker barrell for thanksgiving. Isn't that a hoot? It's our first time to skip cooking but that makes me happy!
Happy Thanksgiving, Beth and everybody!!
We have 3 Thanksgivings to go to this year! Family all over the place.
And Beth, have you always said "you guys"? Have you been speaking up North here lately? ;)
Sounds really nice. Hope you enjoy your time together and that it's special for you as a family.
Thanksgiving isn't so big here in the UK but I'm really looking forward to Christmas already!
Enjoy!
1. As of today, I will be at home with my 2 teenage sons. We may end up at a friends house, just not real sure yet.
2. My sons are not crazy about turkey and believe it or not one won't eat mashed potatos. So we will probably eat ham, creamed corn, salad, and 2 pies: pumpkin cream and chocolate cream.
3. My favorite dish at Thanksgiving would depend on where I am. I love my mom's dressing and can't make it like she does. If I'm at my house, it would be sweet potato casserole (I'm telling you this could be in a pie shell as dessert!)
Whatever we eat, we love to play games together and put a jigsaw puzzle together.
Have a great time with your family and enjoy those grandbabies.
Happy Thanksgiving Siestas!!!
T-Day will be at my house with my four grown sons, married daughter and son-in-law. We do the traditional dinner. Dad takes care of the turkey; one year we brined it; one year baked; and last year we fried it. This year he's marinating it in some delicious sounding concoction and we're baking it. I have so many favorites, but if I have to choose it would be the strawberry pretzel salad! I can't wait. Then on Saturday we will head to Mema and Papa's in Tallahassee and do a big meal all over again with aunts, uncles and cousins. Whew...time for that 5 mile run.
Going to Arkansas to my parents house. Arkansans know how to do Thanksgiving (ahem).
Turkey and dressing - traditional.
Corn Casserole is my FAVE. Have to have it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
1. I'll be in Virginia Beach two sets of grandparents, my parents, my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, three sisters, one brother, a niece, and my husband. I can't wait!
2. We're definitely the turkey and dressing kind of family.
3. My favorite dish sweet potatoes!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
1.) We'll be in CA celebrating at my sister-in-law's where all of my hubby's immediate family is coming together. It will be the first time the cousins get to meet (Jadon 1.5 years and Brennan). :)
2.) Turkey and dressing all the way! Although, this is my first TG spent with my hubby's family.
3.) I'm in charge of making my two favorite dishes: a family recipe for cornbread dressing (the first time I've made it), and a pecan pie. oh ya!
I hope you all have such a fabulous week. Thank you for serving us and showing us the love of Jesus!
Hi there!
1) We are having our first Thanksgiving dinner with family in 11 years! Moving back home to Texas comes with so many opportunities that we've missed over the years.
2) Traditional turkey and dressing. My great-grandmother used to make the dressing and took the recipe with her to glory! My mother has finally mastered something really close, may the Lord be praised!
3) Hands down, my own sweet potato souffle...not the stuff with marshmallows, but a whipped concoction with a crunchy pecan topping! DEE-LISH!
May blessings abound in your precious family every day! You are a blessing to us, for sure!
Happy Thanksgiving to all LPM staff and "siestas" and families!!
1)I will be alone on Thanksgiving day but that's OK-I can watch the parade or do whatever I want! All four of my kids and their spouses and all 7 grandchildren will be here on Saturday night for our meal together.
2)We will have turkey, dressing and all the traditional trimmings. Sometimes I would like to try something different but my kids act like it would be sacriligious to not have a turkey on Thanksgiving! Are we "in a box" or what?:)
3)My favorite dish is hard to answer-there are a lot of good things on a Thanksgiving table. I guess if I had to choose one it would be squash pie. I love it but I don't make it because no one likes it but me-and I certainly don't need to eat a whole pie-which is precisely what would happen!
I am so very thankful for this blog. Even though I don't comment very often I read it faithfully and enjoy it so much. It's such a joy to get to know the siestas out there-I'm beginning to recognize your pictures and names. Thank you to every one!
Marcia B.
We will be at our house with 2 very special families. They are close friends that seem like family.
Yes we do the traditional meal. Beause at Christmas we go rouge and do a prime rib instead of turkey.
My favorite is always something sweet either the sweet potato souffle or the pecan pie.
This year, my husband, children and I will head to Flordia! YEP! Lats year we spent the day moving into our new home as it was the only day my husband could get off! : ) So, we plan to enjoy this year with some food made my Aunt and Uncle and just be thankful that is such a torn world, we have a Saviour who is Faithful!
Hi, I love the Holiday Season. I really try not to stress and leave it all to the Lord. I hope you all have a great holiday.
1. We will be going to my parents house. My brother & sister and their families all come. It's always a good time. My husband, dad and I spend the rest of the week deer hunting. We do the opposite of most people on black Friday.
2. We have turkey, dressing & ham. We are responsible for the ham this year. I should say that my husband is responsible for the ham.
3. My favorite thing I would have to say is pumpkin pie. We only eat it at Thanksgiving & Christmas.
Have a good one & God Bless!!
1)My husband, kids and I travel to southeast Georgia for Thanksgiving to be with the rest of my family.
2)Wednesday is always "girls only" shopping spree (sisters tradition)
3)Yes, turkey and dressing is a tradition for us. Favorite dish is definitely my mom's dressing...it is the best! This year I'm making Paula Dean's Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake. (Easy and delicious)
So much to be thankful for...God is good!
Oh so much to be thankful for.
1. Our daughter, Stephanie will be hosting her first Thanksgiving at her new home. We are excited about joining my son-in-law's family as we love them so.
2. Yes, Thanksgiving Turkey, Ham, Cornbread Dressing, Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans and a fresh cranberry Salad. Plus good DESSERTS!
3. Cornbread Dressing....I live for it every year.
Happy Thanksgiving Living Proof.
God bless you all.
Thanksgiving is a beautiful time!
1) This year we are joining our families. I was recently married and our families get along beautifully. My mother-in-law will host at her home
2) Yes, turkey and all the fixings! There is no other way :)
3) Actually, stuffing has become one of my favorite things! I used to highly dislike this dish. Funny how things change over time. I also love anything pumpkin!
Blessings & Enjoy the extra sabbath!
Just this morning I was hoping to see a post from you--and you did not disappoint! :)
1.) We will be at our in-laws house up the street for Thanksgiving. All of my in-law relatives (that sounds so outlaw-ish, doesn't it? hehehe) will be there. FUN, FUN, FUN! I'm sort of in the same boat as Amanda--I've got a two year old baby girl and a six month old baby boy. My six month old is trying his hardest to be mobile. If I've not been running a marathon already, I will certainly be in overdrive when he does become mobile! HA!
2. We eat fried turkey and gravy at my in-laws. It's been a tradition for years. They cut up turkey breast, flour it, then fry it up. Then my mother-in-law makes gravy out of the drippings and puts the fried turkey back in. OH MY WORD. Sinfully delicious!
3. As good as the fried turkey smothered in gravy is, I think I have to say the ham. I just LOVE Thanksgiving ham. Love it. Love it. LOVE IT!
Happy Thanksgiving to the Moores, Jonses and Fitzpatricks. May God abundantly bless your time together as you continue to praise Him and offer up prayers of thanksgiving.
Prayers and blessings as you face your challenges with the sword of the Spirit and the Truth of God,
Rebecca
Happy Thanksgiving!
1. Will be here at my house with many of my husband's family members (mother, one sister, sister-n-law and her new family, and others! - will be about 16 of us)
2. Traditional all the way
3. ONE favorite? Well, the dressing!
Hi Beth! This year I will be with my wonderful family (husband, 2 little girls, parents, brothers, SIL and nieces). We will eat ourselves silly and play games into the night - laughing at each others expense but loving every minute of it. Oh, how I NEED me some family time!! My daddy will fix the turkey, my Mama the dressing and my cute husband will bake me a delicious apple caramel cheesecake. Yum!
We love you so much here in Hickory, NC and are blessed because of you!
1) For the very first time EVER, we'll be helping to serve and deliver Thanksgiving dinners to some families who wouldn't otherwise have any. (so excited) Then we'll head over to my bff's for dessert (or round 2 - or both!).
2) Turkey and dressing is the usual fair for us along with a ton of awesome side dishes.
3) If I really have to pick only one - and this is really hard - I'd have to say load me up with mashed potatoes and gravy, baby!
We do something fun and different on Thanksgiving Day. My sons and son in law get there bb guns and my husband and I hide a stuffed turkey in the woods and who ever finds it first and shoots it gets a prize. Then we put that turkey as the center piece of the table. We call it our "Annual Turkey Shoot". It is so fun. This year the turkey has lots of feathers on it. I found it at Michaels craft store. We have the traditional "Thanksgiving Day feast". Then we put in the long movie called "Centenial" by James Michener and we watch that the rest of the day. Hope all who reads this has a wonderful Thansgiving from our home to yours.
Hi Beth,
Haven't had a chance to reply in a long time! I'm off from work this week and looking forward to dinner Thursday. Here are my answers:
1) Dinner at my home with my mom. Dessert latter in the eveing with my brother, sister in law, and nephew.
2) This year we are doing the traditional dinner. However, every couple of years we mix it up by doing hot wings (my brother's speciality-he makes his own hot sauce).
3) My absolute favorite dish of all things is green bean casserole with apple pie running a close second.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Hello Beth:
We will be driving to Hot Springs, AR this year to be w/ my husband's family. Turkey and dressing will be the menu. My favorite items are dressing and sweet potato pie.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Enjoy your time off.
Julie
1) This year will be very different for the Hubs and I. Instead of traveling to one of three parents' homes in different cities, or hosting a houseful, we accepted an invitation to be with another couple in their home. This time will be precious as together, we've walked through some terribly hard things this year...and as such, are keenly aware of God's hand in the midst of it all.
2)My girlfriend is a top-notch cook but we're all bringing a little something to the table. It's all about tradition, though - turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and green bean casserole. Yee-haw!
3)My favorite would definitely be leftovers of any kind the next day. Eaten on the couch. In stretchy pants.
Wishing you and yours a safe, happy, healthy Thanksgiving. I just have to say that one of my "giving thanks" moments these days is the REMARKABLE time I had in Springfield, where you b.r.o.u.g.h.t. i.t.! Thank you, thank you, thank you for lavishing your energy, passion and instruction on us...I am still reaping the benefits!
Hey Beth! It's so good to hear from you, especially this week!
1) Since the A&M v. tu game is here this year, we're having a feast here prior to game time and then will probably take an hour (at least)to walk up all EIGHT ramps in Kyle Field!!
2) Turkey, Dressing, and all the southern sides are on the menu with my SIL bringing a ham b/c she doesn't care for turkey.
3) My favorite dish is my Mama's cornbread dressing. The smell of the onions and celery cooking always woke me up on Thanksgiving morning and is so comforting to me now-50 yrs later! I make a large pan so I can eat 'just dressing' for a couple days after! Every year I wonder why I don't make it any other time. It's not a difficult dish.
Thanksgiving blessings to all of you and thank you for all you do for us in keeping us encouraged and in God's Word!
You're in my prayers as always!
1. We usually spend Thanksgiving with my husbands family. He will come home from hunting Wednesday night eat Thanksgiving with the family that day and then leave to go hunting again that night.
2. My mother-in-law has always fixed a big meal every year. However, this year we are going to have steaks. Not quite sure why but it is fine with me just as long as I do not have to cook.
3. My favorite dish would be cream potatoes. Then bring on the Dessert!! Chocolate Cake!!
1. This year I will be traveling to a wonderful place in Arkansas called Sheperd of the Ozarks - my son and his wife and my 2 wonderful grandsons and my brother and husband will all be there. We will be missing my daughter and her husband and my parents. I know no matter where we are we will be together in spirit!!!
2. My son and his wife don't like traditional Thanksgiving food so they prepare Mexican food - taste great and a change for me!
3. I like cornbread dressing and green bean casserole!
May everyone on this blog feel the presence of the Lord during this time of the year and know you are loved by many Siestas!!!

1. We will be with other Thanksgiving "orphans" this year! Our entire extended family lives in Oklahoma and Texas, so a little far to travel from Hawaii! So, we will be dining with some other sweet families that don't have extended family here, too.
2. Traditional food even if we are in Hawaii!! You can take the girl out of Oklahoma, but you can't take Oklahoma out of the girl.
3. Cornbread dressing!!!
1.We are going to be home in Kansas for Thanksgiving (and Christmas but that's another story). We try to stay home every few years and this one happens to be my daughter's last year at home before college. I want to go all out and if has to be VERY wonderful. That is why we are home at Christmas too. We usually go to Florida and lie on the beach (is it lie or lay?). Anyway...home.
2. Turkey and dressing. I adore turkey and dressing and all the side dishes. Yummery!
3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE so many things but two in particular are my husbands GREAT grandma's noodles (always made at holidays) and ambrosia which I know alot of people think is gross but I'm a MAJOR fan of marshmallows. :)
We're across the country from our extended family :( so we're going to take the kids to a community potluck dinner for people who are homeless or less fortunate.
Yes on traditional foods! I love mashed potatoes. And stuffing. And yeast rolls. Notice a theme?
I so appreciate your whole family, and I'll definitely pray.
Amy Storms
Hi, Sweet Beth.
Yes, four generations here, too! My 94 year old grandmother and my 7 and 4 year old will no doubt silly fight over the ping (Italian stuffing - delicious!)!
We'll be staying local this Thanksgiving, which is unusual for us. Traditional feast here, too.
Beth/Siestas -
If you could part with a side-dish recipe that is sure to please, I would be so grateful. Need to bring something over to my moms. The cornbread stuffing sounds great!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving! Love,

Happy Thanksgiving!
1) We are at home in Charlottesville this year. My daughter's god-parents and their sons are joining us for a party of 8!
2) Turkey dressing and all the fixin's except pumpkin pie. I know...how on earth could we have Thanksgiving with out the pumpkin?? Well, God made cherries too, so we will have some cherry pie!
3)My favorite dish is the homemade parker house rolls with lots and lots of homemade gravy...Y.U.M.!!!
Mama Beth, I love you and Thank my Father for you! Blessings Blessings!
Kate in Charlottesville
I've been in a flurry around here... My whole family is coming: mom, dad, 3 siblings and their spouses and children, and my 96-soon-to-be-97 year old Gram is coming too! And that includes 8 kiddos and one-in-the-oven.
It will be a great time including a great traditional meal with bread stuffing AND cornbread stuffing (my hubby's family has Texas roots), and 3 kinds of pies made with the help of my Gram who is the expert pie maker in the family.
We will no doubt watch the Cowboys and Raiders, so my sister can pick on my husband if the boys in blue lose, and maybe even catch Texas and A&M (he's also a Big 12 fan).
We always cap off the evening with a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit, which I love, because for once people want me on their team!!!
I love the bread stuffing which is my mom's recipe so much I even like to eat it cold, with some cranberries on it for fun.
Hey Beth--how about passing that cornbread stuffing recipe this way... I can't find my m-i-l's and she's on her way to the new Cowboy Stadium for the holiday...
Blessings on you and yours! Prayers too!
1) Thanksgiving with my man's fam. here in TN
2) Turkey is the chosen one for the meal.
3) Favorite dish = sweet potato casserole or the green bean casserole :)
1) This year I will be with dear friends for Thanksgiving in Houston; it will be quiet (minus the cheering during the UT vs. A&M game), spent watching the Macy's parade, cooking, eating, napping, and tree decorating. And of course we will be thankful :)
2. Totally turkey!
3. Sweet potatoes :)
Beth - It's Monday and I'm SO bummed we don't have T Bible study tomorrow :(
I will be entirely alone this year. What little family I have left are all going other places. I used to volunteer but that place is no longer. On the plus side... a special friendship is developing, even though I won't be seeing that person on this holiday weekend.
I am going to eat at our families house and then off to the hunting club!
Hey Beth and Melissa and Amanda! Bless you three and your beautiful families.
1. Two different Aunts houses..so two dinners!
2. Turkey and dressing all the way!
3. My favorite dish is Sweet Potato Casserole made only by my sweet sister, Carri...no one else's will do!
Happy Thanksgiving!
1. Hubby and I (with our dog in tow) split the day in half. We spend the first half with his family (his parents, sister, her hubby and their two boys) and the 2nd half with mine (parents, sister and her hubby). Luckily, our families are 30 min apart and we're able to do that. Then, me, mom and my sister hit the malls on Saturday!
2. Yep, we eat the traditional turkey meal at Hubby's family get together. Then, we have steak and baked potatoes with my family.
3. Sweet potatoes!! YUM!
Becky
Murfreesboro, TN
1. Thanksgiving at my house with my niece her husband and a dear friend.
2. Turkey and dressing. Dont' even bother with anything else
3. I would have to say cold leftover dressing!!!
I was in Branson this week and although I will not be there Black Friday I am going back the following weekend. Any Siestas going to be there? Let's meet.

Am having everyone over to my house this year (am cooking for them for the first time!) including my brother and his family. I've opened my home to anyone who wants to come so it should be interesting to see who the Lord brings. I think we have a pretty traditional dinner, but have got to say - just love pumpkin pie with whipped cream!
Sounds like you're going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving with most of your family there. I wish you a week of rest and relaxation and will pray that the your time with your extended family is all that you hope it will be. I sure love you.
Gretchen
Thousand Oaks, CA
1. Home with my husband and 2 children. Then Friday, an adventure to Great Wolf Lodge! Christmas this year is our big blowout with extended family!
2. Yes, turkey and dressing and we love every bite of it!
3. Our favorite dish is my sister’s apple cranberry casserole! And pies, lots of them!
Hello Beth, Amanda & Melissa.
1. We will be hosting a traditional Thanksgiving feast at our home on Friday instead of Thursday. We are in the season of "sharing" our kids with their spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend's families. The gathering will include, my husband and me, our daughter, son #1, daughter-in-law and adorable granddaughter (15 months old and so fun!), son #2 and his serious girlfriend (hoping for a ring by Christmas...)and my 90 year old Dad. Missing this year will be our youngest son who is serving Jesus as a Missionary Associate in Argentina. We'll share the day with him via Skype!
2. We'll have a big ol' turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes (I make really good taters) and gravy, green bean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, home made rolls and pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream. I'm feeling stuffed just thinking about it!
3. I like it all!
Gratitude is a powerful thing. Trying to remember it all year long and not just during this "thankful" season.
Blessings to all,
Vicki
Fun!
1. My husband and I will travel to my family at the other end of the state.
While there, I'll be trying to talk my mom and sisters into a girl weekend of our own in June to go see YOU in St. Louis! Pray that they'll be receptive to the idea.
We'll be driving back Thursday night for basketball practice though (he's a coach).
2. YES. And dont forget the mashed potatoes.
3. Sweet potatoes... or pumpkin pie. Both, please!
Happy Thanksgiving week!
Praying for you!
1. We will be at my parents' house here in town. Just me and my boys and my parents.
2. We have turkey & dressing and all the fixins. But, we're from the north and do NOT do cornbread dressing! (Here in TX that apparently some sort of a sin. LOL) We do regular white bread dressing or what my mother always calls sage dressing.
3. My favorites are the dressing and the pumpkin pie!!
Hi there Mama Beth! You are such a blessing to me! To answer your questions:
1. This year I will be traveling on Thanksgiving, which hasn't happened in years. My mom, my brother and his wife, and I are traveling to my sister's in Indiana. I am from Erie, PA, so that is a 7 hour drive. My whole family, besides my mom and I, are unchurched, so this could be interesting.
2. We always do turkey and dressing, though we will see what my sister does this time around.
3. My favorite dish will always be green bean casserole. I always have extra helpings, and it is fabulous!
1)Our family will be converging in Philadelphia at the home of my brother and his wife. This is their first time hosting Thanksgiving, and it is sure to be a blast.
2) A traditional turkey feast with the added bonus of ham for my hubby who isn't much into turkey.
3) Like Amanda, I love cornbread dressing. I can almost smell it now.
You and your family will remain in my prayers. I am so thankful for you and Living Proof.
My sweet husband, my mother and myself will be sharing ham, chicken dressing and all the trimmings. We are saving the turkey for Christmas. This will be our second holiday season as Arkansans and we're loving it.
I have to tell you we are in the 9th week of "Living Beyond Yourself" and it has got to be THE best study yet! Of course, I say that after each one but this truly has been a blessing to every lady in my North Little Rock group. I highly recommend it to everyone!
Dear Beth & Family, This is a crazy year for us. It is all of our dear ones to be with the other side of their families, so my husband & I decided we would serve at a homeless shelter that serves Thanksgiving dinner to those in need. But, we were turned down....a homeless shelter didn't need us! But, they had so many dear ones willing to serve them, they were all filled up! Praise!! So we're joining our daughter & grandbabies at her in-laws. Our favorite is my mother in law's sausage stuffing! And mine just can't seem to quite measure up to hers. And we're a pie family...coconut cream, chocolate, butterscotch, apple, cherry & pumpkin.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving
1)I will be with my children and extended family. We are all praying my husband will join us and that our prayers will be answered. That this holiday season will not be as last year-a time to be survived and endured (eph 6:13) but a time of celebration from captivity (2 tim 2:25-26) Pray for us please. I'm so very tired.
2)Turkey is just really not that great:) My mom is frying chicken instead, amen!
3)The stuffing. The only time of the year we eat it and it is great!
This year, Thanksgiving is just my little family, the parade and football. I do the turkey with all the fixin's. My husband and daughter love the turkey, but the mashed potatoes are my favorite. The dogs just love the little bit of the leftovers that they get and we have been known to be bad doggy parents and even give them the carcass to chew on.
It is such a blessed Thanksgiving for us. Our cup runneth over!
We're having Thanksgiving here in Colorado with cousins and their kids and my aunt and uncle from Florissant and a single friend, too. We tend to adopt people...
Traditional thanksgiving for us (though I'm from the north and my Chris is from the south--which are a bit different fare from each other)!
I love oyster dressing (I know, but I really do love it!) and broccoli rice casserole. My Chris loves sweet potato casserole...I'm praying it turns out like his mom's.
PS You know that I am praying for and love each of you so much.
Sounds like you all will have a DIVINE Thanksgiving, and with a "first-timer" little girl at the table I'm sure it will be memorable!
My husband and I decided several years ago that we needed a holiday to actually RELAX, without the stress and family drama. Thanksgiving has become that holiday for us. We stay at home and have a delicious meal with our 2 (almost 3) little kiddos. No drama or stress, just fun and merriment.
Yes, we have a traditional turkey meal, only with a twist. We buy one of those tasty Honeybaked Ham turkeys that just have to be heated in the oven for a few hours. Same thing with most of the side dishes. It's easy and if someone else can make it better than we can, why NOT?!
My favorite dish is pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream! Gotta love the sweet stuff! This year I'm trying to make my own pumpkin pie, so we'll see how that goes. I better do a test run today or tomorrow so if it doesn't turn out fantastic, I have time to go buy us one!
Have a truly blessed feast with your darling family!
Happy Thanksgiving Siesta Mama Beth, Amanda, Melissa, et.al.
1)We will be leaving Wednesday morning for a 10 hour drive to be with my dear MIL and her husband in Grand Island, NE. On Turkey, my FIL's daughter and husband come from Omaha.
2)We have the traditional turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce. I'm bringing Trader Joe's cornbread stuffing mix with us. It's the best.
3) My favorites are stuffing and pumpkin pie. I learned at my Weight Watchers meeting if you only eat the filling, you can save 5 points!!
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! You are in my prayers.
Blessings & Love,
Mary Ann
Thank you for your ministry - you have encouraged me so very much this year. I could just go on and on about scripture memory....
1. Thanksgiving is mine to host and I love it! We'll have about 12 or so family members and friends.
2. We go traditional all the way - the more, the better.
3. I love it all, but mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes are probably my favorite. I really like everything mixed together and covered with gravy....
HI LPM family!!
1. Family and extended family for lunch. Then, we work with the Race Track Chaplaincy Ministry that ministers to 200+ people that work and live on the backside of track. Feeding them Thanksgiving supper and Gods word.
2. Yep, turkey and cornbread dressing. We are from the south!!!
3. Favorite dish(es) are (cause I love them all) the cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole and a to die for, grape salad and there is never leftovers of that to take home :(
Love and continued prayers to you, your family and ministry.
Hey Siestas!
1. I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year. What started out as a small gathering has taken on something much more than I planned! It will be my mom and step-dad, my father-in-law, his wife and my husband's grandma (straight from your neck of the woods - Deer Park, TX) and my uncle and aunt. I've got a full blown "Cooking and Prep" schedule all mapped out for our very traditional turkey and cornbread dressing dinner with lots of other great recipes! My favorite is the sweet potato souffle that (sweet potatoes, cream, melted marshmallows and butter with a yummy brown sugar and pecan topping!) YUM YUM!
Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful! Thanks for everything you all do!
I will be praying for you Beth and all your family! God has blessed me with being able to take 3 of 6 children (hubby has to work) to Lynn Haven Florida to visit my grandparents (late 70's and early 80's is their ages). It's been about 8-9 years since I've seen them. They are declining in health so I wanted a special time to visit them. Usually we do the turkey thing but this year it's still a mystery of what's being served! My favorite dish is my mom's homemade stuffing!! My God bless each and everyone this season!
My husband and I along with our three children and several families from our church will be serving a free Thanksgiving meal to some folks in our community. I can't wait to meet those people God brings our way on Thursday and watch Him do great things in their lives.
Your story about laughing so hard you pulled a stomach muscle just tickled me. It reminds me of 15 years ago when my sister, mom and grandmother had a girls weekend. When we realized that ALL FOUR OF US do this little "hmmm" sigh at the end of a good hard laugh, we nearly couldn't stop laughing. Then minute we tried, one of us "hmmm'd" and it would throw the rest of us into fits all over again. It makes me smile now to think of it.
1) We'll all be at my house this Thanksgiving - my sister's family and her 2 precious girls, my mom, dad and stepmom, and 91 year old grandmother. JOY!
2) Traditional, except for my stepmom's now famous stuffed jalapeños. So good with turkey!
3) My mom's dressing (we don't call it stuffing in Arkansas).
Enjoy your time with family!
We are headed from SC to West Virginia! We usually always go to my husbands parents. It will be a LONG drive with a almost five year old and an active 15 month old!
We typically have the usual Turkey and trimmings but my favorite Thanksgiving dish is Waldorf salad or some variation of. I don't get it any other time of the year so I really look forward to it!
Thank you for the Esther study - I have been longing to hear what God had to say on those very subjects for years! And, of course, His timing was perfect because it is also helping with the trials we are currently going through!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my siestas!! Our Thanksgiving was back in October and we have a very similar meal to what many of you are having. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and all the trimmings! Enjoy!!
Ron & I frist of all will celebrate ou 42nd Aniv tomorrow, we will have Thanksgiving at home just the 2 of us, he dosent feelike going to my sis, 1 hr away not to our daughter 4 hrs away,he sisters want have anything to do with him & hasnt fo 10 yearss(this is so hard for him because sis & I get along great, its not him its them)so we sill once again just eat at home, i love turkey, massed pot, dressing, coen own the cob & love ham to.will fix smaall ones for us.I pray all have agreagt Thanksgiving.Recive many bl;essings for i have been so blessed.
1. My family is coming to our house this year
2. Traditional Turkey Dinner
3. Except for this one dish - traditional for us but probably weird for everyone else. Its called Cherry Rice. Passed down from my great grandmother. She classified it as a salad but its much more like a dessert with loads of whip cream, cherries, sweet rice and marshmallows in it.
We all love it and fight for the leftovers.
Can I confess that I have been dreaming about your coffee maker every since I saw the picture of it? I can almost smell the coffee brewing in that pretty thing. Suddenly mine looks way too much like the drug store replacement and I'm sure I've been missing out all these years.
Something for the Christmas list:)
Also, so sorry it's been such a challenging year. I will pray for you. Its tempting to imagine that "the successfuls" are exempt from those nagging problems we "ordinaries" face but I'm sure that's not the case. I know as you look to the Lord He'll get you through this brillantly and then you will have much to teach us in the end. I am looking forward to that part! I have learned much from you already.
Have a great Thanksgiving and please gift us with lots of photos of your great-looking family!
We'll be waiting....
Hello sweet Beth: Much love to you and your family and I pray you have a wonderful week - I'm off this week too!
1. Thanksgiving is at my house and is hands down my favorite holiday. This is a good year because it's the one where "everyone" can come - the ones that do the every other year thing, you know? Both my sisters and their husbands and kids, and my parents and my boys and their wives and my grandson Zeke - who loves Gran Jan the BEST.
2. Turkey and cornbread dressing, very Southern - very traditional.
3. My Dad's cornbread dressing (I gave Melissa the recipe last year) and my sister's sweet potato souffle.
Much love,
GJ
PS: Both my daughters-in-law are expecting babies in May and are just 5 days apart. I am BESIDE myself. Just wrote a blog post about it - Double Daughter-in-Law Delight!
Glad to hear you have a time of rest and refreshing this week. You all deserve it very much!
My husband and I will be spending the day at his parents with all his siblings, kids, etc. It is always a loud, joyful, and blessed time. We will eat the traditional turkey with all the trimmings followed by dessert. My favorite is the dressing, I believe, though it is hard to pick.
I pray for your family and team every day.............you must come under such opposition for the truth and life that you speak....keep it up and we'll keep praying! God Bless! I, for one, am very thankful for your ministry and how it has changed my life.
1) our family gathering just got too big so we're downsizing Thanksgiving this year. kinda sad but a houseful of 40 is certainly more managable than double that! last year we had to use our church's family life center for our dinner! we'll catch up with those we missed throughout the holiday season.
2) yes, turkey and dressing. my mom makes the best dressing. did see an intriguing recipe though for a jalapeno and bacon dressing. do you texans know about that one?
3) but mom's best is definitely her HOMEMADE noodles. i think it's everyone's favorite! I love mine over top my mashed potatoes!
Thank you for the blessing you are in my life. LPM is definitely one of the things I'm most thankful for this year. You have helped bring me closer to Him than I ever thought possible!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
1. We'll be spending Thanksgiving with my Mom and Dad...we're having a really small group this year...only 12 people.
2. Yep, we have turkey and dressing...the traditional.
3. Favorite dish at Thanksgiving is my sister's sweet potato casserole.
Thanksgiving is my very favorite family holiday because the weekend after Thanksgiving is filled with all kinds of fun. Our family has a family dance called the Turkey Trot. We rent out a church or school gym and cut a rug! It is SO MUCH FUN!! The guy's play in a golf tournament called the Granny's Cup, in honor of my sweet Granny. The girl's go on a walk called the Granny's Walk. We also all get together and watch the LSU/Arkansas game. During all these events, we have yummy food. What more can you ask for than dancing, food, fun, fellowship, and lots and lots of laughter and love?! LOVE Thankgiving!
1. Me, my hubby, our son,my in-laws and grandma. (Our daughter and son-in-law are out of state for the first time) :(
2.Ham-instead of Turkey, and all the traditional sides.
3. ESCALOPED OYSTERS!! MMMMM......need I say more?
Blessings to your family, Ms. Beth
Beth - thanks for all you do. I'm just finishing up with my first study of yours and it's amazing!
1) We will be with my husband's family in Kentucky
2) Turkey and Dressing... YUM!
3) There are 2 dishes that I can't do without for Turkey Day - though I don't get them when I'm with my husband's side of the family :-( They are Asparagus Casserole and Corn Pudding... Soooooooo yummy!!!!!!!
1) We will be traveling to my in-laws and celebrating with my hubby's grandmother, parents, brother and a whole host of aunts, uncles, and a few cousins. Probaly about 20 of us. We have a grand time and make a big deal over Grandma Green as she is still the matriarch of the family. I am blessed to have wonderful MIL and FIL whom I love dearly.
2) Traditional turkey and sides. My FIL fries more than one and now that Grandma is up in age, everyone chips in on the side fixings.
3) Collards! Collards! Collards are my favorite!!! My 4 year old loves them too!
Please pray as my husband's brother and his wife are separated this Thanksgiving. This situation has been heart breaking on the entire family. My husband and I are on our knees constantly praying for healing and a renewed love for their marriage. They have a 4 year old and a 2 year old in the middle of a MESS.
p.s. I am also celebrating 13 years of marriage today. Praise the Lord!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun!
1) This year I am hosting my first Thanksgiving! We built a new house this year so we were graciously nominated by all the family to host! I am a little nervous!
2) We are traditional!
3) My favorite dish is a sweet potato/apple thing my mom makes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
1. My husband, sons, and I are headed to spend time with the Joyful Lunatics (a.k.a. my parents..lol) and my sibs and their families. There are 20 of us when we all get together and yes, we stay under one roof! It's merry chaos for three days and then, we'll head back home to NC.
2. Love turkey. LOVE stuffing MORE! (and so do my hips)
3. Thanksgiving just wouldn't be complete for me without pumpkin pie.
We've had some major changes over the past year, including my sister's divorce. Her teenage daughter will be spending Thanksgiving Day with her dad this year, so our family is having the traditional Thanksgiving meal on Wed. night when everyone can be there. On Thanksgiving Day, we are having Mexican food. \
New times - new traditions.
Anne
We're having Thanksgiving on Saturday since some of our family only has Thursday off and it's too far for a turn-around trip. So the weekend worked best. And since there are a bunch of us we're moving to the church fellowship hall for food and then maybe we'll watch Polar Express on the multi-media screen! We do eat Turkey and I'm nuts about cornbread dressing! Can't do the giblet gravy, though. My mom who is 86 and my youngest brother with his year old TRIPLETS, another brother with a new love, my nieces and their families, my daughter and son-in-law and two of our 7 grandkids will be together. I love it. I'm happiest when I'm wearing my apron! And that amazing man I've been married to for nearly 42 years is a pretty awesome cook too! And he looks so cute in his apron!
Have a beautiful day. Thanks for showing Him so powerfully to so many.
1. I will be in Tokyo, Japan with my husband and kids. It's a vacation for us since we live in Okinawa.
2. Yes, turkey and stuffing although I don't like stuffing. The hotel we're staying at has a wonderful Thanksgiving buffet so we won't have to eat sushi either.
3. Hard to pick just one but my mom's crescent rolls are probably my favorite
Happy Thanksgiving!
1. We're having dinner with another military family; the invitation was a blessing as we pack in about 1.5 weeks to go overseas. I'm beginning to give away food, and didn't need to host anyone!
2. Traditional.
3. Sweet potato casserole 2 from A Taste of Georgia cookbook.
1) It will be me, my husband, 2 sons and 1 daughter. I believe I will cook up some great pies, order out dinner and we can sit in front of the TV to watch the Cowboys. What is Thanksgiving without the Cowboys?
1. We're having Thanksgiving at our house with my in-laws!
2. Yes, yes, yes! Turkey and dressing - cornbread dressing!
3. I love this amazing corn casserole! Very southern! Very good!
I am so glad the 3 of you got to have a fun girls weekend! There is just nothing more fun than that.
1) Even though I only live 15 minutes from my parents, I am spending the week at their house. My roommates husband is coming home for the week before he gets deployed for Iraq at the beginning of December, so needless to say, I am getting out of the house and letting them have this week alone. I am excited because it is fun to spend the week at your home once in a while. Especially with my little brother who will be in from college! So, I'll still be in Houston, just at a different house. And I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for all you peeps. :)
2) Turkey it is! And I can't wait!
3) My favorite is by far Green Bean Casserole. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Well, and the carbs in the form of bread that I will consume. Yum.
Have a marvelous Monday. I've got to get packing!
Lindsee
P.S. If y'all think about it, you wouldn't waste a prayer on my roommate, Claire and her hubby either as they spend this last time together as they leave. Pray that it will be sweet and not to overwhelming with everything going on! They would so appreciate it.
Oh , Siesta Mama Beth, a happy, blessed Thanksgiving to you, Keith, Amanda, Melissa and their respective families! I cannot WAIT to meet you all at the SMT Celebration in January. ... I also continue to pray for you and your entire family!
... and as your questions:
1. This is my husband and my first Thanksgiving in Florida (we moved here last month!) I think my husband (brand-new to the U.S.) will want to discover the typical American Thanksgiving meal tradition… hence, we’re off to Cracker Barrel ! I don’t think there could be a better place than that for us novices… is there?!??
2. Growing up in Italy and then living in the UK, we – sadly – do not have Thanksgiving traditions, but having myself lived here in the U.S. before I have come to absolutely LOVE this day and, therefore, I will strive to follow its ‘strict’ meal traditions – with the exception of this year… we’ve literally just moved and I lack the necessary pots and pans!!!
3. My absolute favorite dish at Thanksgiving has *GOT* to be the STUFFIIIIING!!!!! Who’s with me on this one?
Love you, Beth, love you, Siestas!

Hmmmm....let's see:
1. Thanksgiving and Christmas are at our house this year before our family of 4 packs up and moves to Singapore next year. It's bewildering to think we'll be living in a country that does not pause for a special day to give thanks. We will most definitely have to be purposeful about that while we are living there.
2. When we finally realized that there was more moaning and groaning and popping of buttons after our Wed. night meal than after Thursday's meal we decided to ditch tradition and go for a tamale, red and green chile, tortilla kind of Thanksgiving meal. We are all VERY thankful for that good 'ol Texas meal! Of course, my husband makes the red chile and this New Mexico raised girl makes the green and trying to keep some of the competitive edge out of whose chile is gone first....well, not always successful at doing that.
3. My favorite dish is whatever has sugar in it....that is just the honest truth!!
It will be a house full of Aggie and Cowboy loving folks with 2 boys under 12 to add some fun to the mix....I wouldn't have it any other way!!
Aww!! I can't wait to go home this Thanksgiving. My household is much like yours! I just finished my 44-page Senior Thesis paper and will get to drive home tomorrow!
1) I'm going home to visit my family in Warner Robins, GA. I am still in college (graduate in December) and my sister has two girls. One is 5-years-old and the other turns one-year-old tomorrow!!!!My Mama is thrilled to be having her two girls together.
2)We always have turkey and dressing and giblet (sp?) gravy.
3) Girl, I like it all! In fact, I'm hoping to come back to school 10 pounds heavier, because I'm about to indulge in a whole lotta goodness. *wink*wink*!
LOVE y'all!!!!
Hello, Miss Beth and girls! My family is in TN and we will be having a Thanksgiving brunch on Thankgiving morning with my Mom's side of the family, dinner that night with my Dad's side (my parents divorced when I was 12) and another Thanksgiving meal with my in-laws Saturday. The brunch will obviously not be traditional food, but every other meal will be! My favorite dish hands down is sweet potato casserole. It's always been my favorite!
Have a wonderful day! I can't tell you enough how thankful I am for you and the fact that you are using your gifts for the glory of God. You are all a blessing.
1. We will spend Thanksgiving with extended family at my aunt's lake house, where we often move the dining room table outside to the deck for the meal.
2. Smoked turkey that has been cooking all night outside- so good it makes you want to slap yourself.
3. Mama's oyster dressing. Mama actually tried to get out of making it one year. I'd say the phone company made a killing off the family drama that followed over not having The Dressing. Bless Mama's heart, I don't think she will ever again attempt to get out of making it! LOL.
1-I will be at my house this year and will have the privilege of having two of my four children and their families with me. I will be meeting a new great granddaughter and will be delighted.
2-Living in the deep south, turkey and homemade dressing is a must.My daughter and I will make the dressing together. Not to mention the sweet potato casserole.
3-My favorite is dressing - pure, unadulterated cornbread dressing, no gravy.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am praying.

Beth and Siesta's:
My precious Mother-in-love moved to our Nursing Home the first week of November just two days after her very own 87th birthday. So Thanksgiving will be spent around the dining table in her new home.
Growing up, my normal holiday meal was German food, jell-o, and home made bread.
My favorite dish, still today, is the stuffing/dressing.
1)My husband, son and daughter will be traveling south to San Diego for Thanksgiving with my family. San Diego is a great place to visit anytime.
2)We will be feasting on turkey, dressing and all the trimmings.
3)Candied yam(sweet potatoes) are the best! A close second is cranberry salad. But really what's not good on the Thankgiving table?
1. I will be in Pigeon Forge, TN. This is my first time going there. I am going with my sisters husbands family. My dad passed in July so this will be a nice break for all of us.
2. We eat turkey and dressing. Love it!
3. I have two favorite dishes at Thanksgiving. Chicken and dumplings and Cheesy Rotel Spaghetti!

Hello All!
1. This year I will be working on Thanksgiving!! I am a pediatric nurse so I will spend the day celebrating with my co-workers. What a wonderful opportunity to be thankful to have a job during these tough times. I have helped to coordinate a potluck sign-up and will try to make this the best Thanksgiving yet!
2. We are a traditional bunch in my family. However, none of us are huge turkey fans so we usually eat more honey-baked ham than anything else.
3. My favorite dish is corn casserole. Paula Dean's recipe to be specific.
Thankful for God's blessings and faithfulness in my life this year!

Happy Thanksgiving Moore's!
1. I'll be having Thanksgiving at my parents house: my mom and dad, my husband, me, our 5 kiddos and my grandma (4 generations!)
2. We eat the typical stuff.
3. My favorite would have to be the turkey. We don't have it too often the rest of the year. YUM!
Blessings on you and yours!

I will fly home to Michigan and be with my four sons, my new daughter-in-law, my sister and brothers family. 11 nieces and nephews from 18-30yrs old not to mention there dates!!!!...a complete blast!!! Hilarious with all the personalities.
Mom's traditional stuffing is best and the one dish we always look forward too.
After were all stuffed like turkey's we crash in the den to watch the Detroit Lions game and than play our traditional ... Left-Center-Right game. We play this with $3.00 each and its WILD!!!!
Thanksgiving has always been at our house for many, many years now. We expect our three children, their spouses and our two grandbabies. We will be celebrating on Friday though instead of Thursday in order to let our married daughter and son-in-law eat with his side of the family. That will just give me an extra day to prepare!
I always cook the same menu which goes over great.
Chicken (not turkey)& dressing (southern cornbread style)
Creamed potatoes
English Peas
Corn
Cranberry sauce
Homemade whole wheat rolls
The desserts vary from year to year but they will be homemade.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!

Hey, sweet Beth (Amanda and Melissa, too)!
This year we'll be in North Carolina at my in-laws farm. We love going out to the farm and I'm excited that my 14 month old is old enough now to explore the great outdoors with his grandpa. They've been waiting for that for a while. :)
Growing up, my grandparents didn't like turkey, so we always had ham, but everything else was pretty traditional. Now that we usually have Thanksgiving with my husband's side we definitely have the turkey and traditional sides.
My absolute favorite is green bean casserole. I love mashed potatoes, too, but for some reason we only make green bean casserole for Thanksgiving. Can't beat it!
Glad to hear that you are getting a much needed break! Sounds like the girls had fun this weekend! If you're going to pull a muscle, I can't think of a more fun way of doing it!
About Thanksgiving:
1. We are going to my mom's house. There will be 18 people for dinner and about 25 for supper.
2. We have the traditional meal. My mom makes a ham and a turkey because she is afraid that we will run out of food otherwise.(Is that a "mom" thing?)
3. My favorite dish is green bean casserole.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Everyone!
Love that you guys made a scene in a restaurant :)
We always gather with my husband's family for Thanksgiving, and yes, we have a traditional turkey dinner. We do mashed potatoes with noodles on them instead of gravy. Some people think that sounds weird, but it is oh so good.
My favorite part of the meal is the homemade rolls. I make them (how vain is that for saying it's my favorite!), and I use my grandma's recipe for crescent rolls. So many memories of her rolls and Thanksgivings on the farm...
Love and blessings to all of you!
First, I have to say: If Paul were Southern, I'm sure he would have put "you won't waste a prayer on us right now" in at least one of his epistles. (Or maybe that's how it literally translates from the Greek? Melissa will know.)
To answer your questions:
1. Thanksgiving is hosted at our house. It's been that way for years. This year, we'll only have 8 people around the table. But it can flux to as many as 20.
2. I think by "dressing" you mean stuffing? (Oh, I kid.) I'm honestly not a huge stuffing fan. I'd rather save my carbs for mashed potatoes and rolls. But we definitely do turkey. It wouldn't seem right to do something else.
3. Favorite side dish? Pie. I love everything about Thanksgiving. But if there were no pumpkin pie, I would cry in despair.
Hi, Beth! My family and I will stay home this year and put up our Christmas tree. I have a cousin in the hospital here, having just received a liver transplant, and hope to be at the hospital some that day, too.
We do turkey and my Pa-Paw's dressing! So southern good!
My one favorite dish ... my grandmother's potato rolls. To die for (well, almost)!
God bless you and your sweet family. I'm so thankful for you.

Beth - I love hearing about Annabeth. I think she & my baby are just a few months apart - he just turned 1 this past weekend. Everything that she is doing - my baby is doing too. Isn't it wonderful to watch them grow & learn?
My family of 4 will be spending T-day w/my mom, dad & grandparents in Northeast Texas where we will vere from the traditional turkey & dressing (we're just not big turkey fans!) and indluge in some gumbo & potato salad. My favorite T-day dish would have to be pecan pie. We'll probably keep that tradition!
Thanks be to God for you, Amanda, Melissa & the rest of the LPM staff. You gals are making a difference in the Kingdom of God - DON'T EVER DOUBT IT.
BTW - I lifted you & your family up to our Savior, asking him to give you guys wisdom in how to deal w/the situations you are facing.
I love you too!
Hi Miss Beth!
1) This year we are going to Reeves, LA, which is the hometown of my hubby's maternal grandma. She is 87 and funny as ever. Her siblings that are able to make it and their families will be there as well.
2) We are pretty traditional in our food - turkey, cornbread dressing, and the like.
3) Honestly, I can say that I am nuts over dressing. I don't know what it is. I can eat it for two weeks straight after Thanksgiving and Christmas and never get tired of it!
Have a great week!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
My beloved husband, 3 daughters (ages 6, 7 and 9) and I will be at my parents house. My brother and super sis-in-law and their 7 kids (ages 12 - 1) are coming up from VA. I can't wait! Then on Saturday, we get to hang with my hubby's extended family.
Totally traditional... I could tell you exactly what will be on the table, down to the pickles and after dinner mints! Did you know that it's called "dressing" at the first serving, "filling" at the 2nd and "stuffing" at the third? Just a little PA Dutch humor for y'all!
My favorite is the combination of ALL of it! Turkey, green beans w/ toasted almonds, sweet potato casserole! Makin my mouth water just thinkin bout it!
I'm so thankful for you Mama Beth... thanks for serving all of us an extra large, sweet and satisfying helping of Jesus' love!

1. The first part of the day I will be volunteering with my mom at a local restaurant that feeds a meal to the homeless and very poor. The later half of the day, I will be celebrating at a friend's house who has a potluck for people who don't have other places to go.
2. A bit of a mix, depending on what people bring, but turkey and dressing are part of it.
3. mashed potatoes. mmmmm
Hi there, Siesta Mama! :) Good to hear from you!
1. I'll be in The Woodlands with my parents and my Dad's side of the family.
2. Yes, we eat a traditional Tgiving meal.
3. I love my Mom's pecan pie...it's my Gram's recipe...recently she's made CHOCOLATE pecan pie--YUMMY!!! :)
Very thankful for God's grace and provision this past year...would take too long (and you don't have time to read) all that God's done...and some is still very hard. But He has been faithful. He's provided when my salary was cut...He's provided a way for a vacation for me (CA on the beach!)...and my baby niece (joy of my life) will be 2 Sunday, so I praise the Lord for her sweet life. My heart hurts that I won't be with her, but I am thankful to be able to see her Dec 18 for an early Christmas. (She lives in OH; I live in TX).
Happy Thanksgiving to all of LPM and their families! :)
Ya'll sure bring a ray of sunshine into the day for me! Thanks for being here and sharing your lives! :) I'd just like to state that I'm in the middle of Stepping Up and I'm like, reeling from the sowing-seed lesson, among other things! I LOVE how He changes my life with truth, and I love how He uses you to teach it! Okay, I will get on task. For thanksgiving... I will be:
1 * Here in Wewak, Papua New Guinea, where I live, with all my lovely coworkers (only about 12 of us right now!)... we'll all miss our families at home, but we're also that for each other and we shall have too much fun ;) We even have an "old" recorded football game to watch while we digest!
2 * We have done a big sign up for the traditional meal and Lord help me, I've got sweet potato casserole again :?! And a veggie... we'll see what I can find rolling around in the dirt at the market...! :/
3 * My favorite is not a dish, but a bit of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce all at once! And then I'll tell you where the real excitement is... the pumpkin pie, baby!
You all SOAK UP your time off and soak up the blessings He pours on you this Thanksgiving! You are loved and prayed for!!
1 - We're going down to mom and dad's (on South Padre Island). It'll be me and hubby, mom and dad, and my brother and his 7-yr old daughter.
2 - It'll be the traditional fare, but Mom has been able to talk Dad into taking her to Thanksgiving buffets in recent years, so she got a bit nervouse over the whole meal thing. Anyway, their church had a Thanksgiving dinner catered in yesterday after service. Looks like we're having leftovers! (Her friend is the caterer and bailed her out.)
3 - I do enjoy the meal as a whole. But I really look forward to the snacks while we watch football all day.
Have a fun and thankful week!
Thanks for the post about everyday life.. It's nice to keep in touch ;)
Glad to hear the whole family will be together - multi-generational celebrations are always great fun around here.
1. This year I am hosting four generations (11 extended family) for the 3rd year in a row after having lived away (far away) for the previous 7 years. This year Wegmans is doing my cooking and I am so excited! Wegmans is this awesome grocery store with all kinds of prepared foods. One just opened near us back in the summer. So, all I have to do is pick it up and warm it! Yippee. I am going to spend my "free time" making some fun appetizers and not being stressed.
2. Traditional food - turkey with all the trimmings. However, when we lived about 800 miles away and it was just the 5 of us - i have tried all kinds of other things like steak on the grill and an italian buffet - different pastas and sauces. That was yum!
3. My favorite is this cranberry jello salad that my aunt makes. It's got nuts and celery and whole cranberrys and I could eat the whole thing! Silly, but delicious.
Just finished Esther today and I would have to agree with a previous Siesta's post - it was a fabulous study. God spoke to me on so many levels. Thinking I would identify on some levels with "the woman" in the story, I was humbled to find I could really relate to Haman many times. Ouch! Thanks for all your hard work on that study, words really can't explain how much your dedication and love for your students means to me.
1. Well, we just moved from Colorado (from Alaska two years before that) to BORGER, TX 3 weeks ago. We have met some really nice people, but can you say culture shock! (Anyone reading this from Borger...want to be friends?)
So here is the deal with our plans: My brother and his wife and beautiful baby girls were supposed to drive up from Orange, TX today, but a boy in his youth group was killed in a car accident. So, please pray for their church and all the youth and for my brother (their youth and music pastor) who will be singing and speaking at the boys funeral. I am sad that we will be alone here without them, or any family, but praising God for my husband and two precious babies and thanking Him for all that He has planned for us here in the TX Panhandle! :) We're so close now, I feel like I could just drive on down there and see you all. :)
2) Pie! Pie! Pie! Homemade crust and real whipped cream! Chocolate, pumpkin, pecan...Yum!
3. Ditto on question #2. We, of course eat other nutritionally substantial items, but the homemade pies are our specialty.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving Week everyone. (Can't wait for January!)
Heather Charton
Happy Thanksgiving Week!!
1) This is my first MARRIED Thanksgiving so we'll be at my parents in the morning time and my hubsands parents in the afternoon! Double the family, FUN!!
2)Turkey and stuffing for sure! I always want the wish bone! Other things that grace our tables will be a mean potato casserole my grandma makes and KILLER sweet potatos complients of my Mom-in-law!
3) My fav....for sure the potato casserole, starch and cheese = happy me!!
We too have oodles to be thankful for too!! We have had a year of tears and joy as well, and He has been ever so faithful. Lots of "this far" moments.
LPM, thank you for your ministry, you are in my prayers!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
1) For the first time ever, my husband's family will be eating out. It's kinda nice not having to combine baking and cooking and packing, and I'm looking forward to letting Vargo's do all the work!
2) Tradition all the way. Turkey and cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce and pecan pie.
3) The dressing is my favorite! And I love that you are a fellow Southern gal and call it dressing and not stuffing!
Beth,
Me, my husband and three kids are going to my sister's house in Louisiana (1st time there for Thanksgiving). We will have a cajun version of turkey, dressing and all the fixings! Any type of dressing is my favorite plus a chocolate cake for dessert would be perfect!
Praying for your family!
Much Love,
Tina
1) This year we are going to our neighbor's home for dinner. We rarely have family dinners as we live 3500 miles from them. We often do the friends thing for holidays!
2) We love Turkey and with my husbands Celiac disease, we can have it! Most stuffings are no-go (he can't have wheat, rye, barley), but we have lots of other goodies.
3) Our favorites are desserts: I love fruit pies (tart cherry is my fave) and he likes pecan. Mashed potatoes are a close 2nd!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all, Beth! Our Bible study just finished Esther . . . I am soo...thankful for your insights, teaching & challenge :)
1) The Bouchard family will be 'split' this year - 3 on the west coast, 5 on the east coast but my husband, 3 of 4 children and my wonderful in-laws will be sharing Thursday's meal together at our home in Beavercreek, Ohio.
2) We are 'traditional' - turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. - love it, love it, love it! From my husband's family comes oyster stuffing!
3) Homemade california (yeast) rolls and whipped potatoes w/gravy have got to be my favorite, but it's really the combination of all the 'uniquely thanksgiving' foods I love!
1.We are spending Thanksgiving at our house with my sister and her family, our neighbors and their extended family, and some family friends. It will be so easy and relaxed I don't even plan to clean the house!(Plus, we can eat outside, weather permitting)
2. One fried turkey, one baked, and all the traditional accompaniments!
3. EIther my sweet potato souffle or my cranberry dish. Yum yum!!
Kae H, Jacksonville
1. We will be staying at home, making dinner for my family and my mom and sister's families too!
We do eat turkey and dressing although I also love ham!!!
I'd say my favorite dish at Thanksgiving is pecan pie!!
Thanks so much for sharing a part of your life as well!!
1. This year we are going to my in-laws for an early dinner as we do every year. I will not be seeing my side of the family because they decided to change the time and make it the same as my in-laws. Needless to say I'm a bit broken hearted. Holidays always seem to bring out the worst in people when a couple is trying to make both sides of the family happy. We never do and then we everyone is unhappy. Why don't some parents/family members understand they have to "share" us and it can be their way only. Sorry to vent. It upsets me every year and this year seems worse. I dont want to feel that way so I'm trying to keep my eyes on Jesus.
2. Yes, Turkey and Stuffing but we also have ham. I'm more of a ham girl.
3. My favorite dish/side at dinner is Stove Top Stuffing. Yep the box stuff. Oh and the canned cranberry sauce you know the kind that come out of the can and still looks like a can and even has the little ridges on it to slice it. LOL
Your family is in my prayers and it is so nice knowing that you all are praying for me too. Really you dont know how much that means to me!!! I do have so much to be thankful for! Happy Turkey Day!!!
1) My sister and I will drive down to spend Thanksgiving with our parents in TN.
2) Turkey and bread stuffing (rather than dressing) and candied sweet potatoes and homemade cranberry sherbet (family recipe) and either pumpkin or Kentucky Derby pie. We may also have garlic mashed potatoes. (The turkey and giblets on toast is at lunchtime--we don't eat dinner until 6P.)
3) I can't say that any of the dishes is my favorite--I just love the family time together with great food. We're taking the turkey and fixings with us this year because my mom had a hip replacement (driving down on Wednesday).
Of course I love the leftover turkey--in sandwiches and tetrazine and salad . . .
Great to hear from you Mama Siesta!!! Before I forget, Blessings to all of you. I pray our Lord blesses you out of your socks over the week and weekend!!
I am cooking, only turkey breasts, believe it or not, nobody likes the dark meat......We will have mashed potatoes, dressing, sweet potatoe casserole, gravy, corn (for my son), rolls, veggie platter. The desserts are to die for, pumpkin pie, carrot cake, homemade cinnamon rolls (compliments of my son) and French Silk Pie!!! Who can say "oh I ate to much???"
My favorite thing is the sweet potato casserole.
We do the dinner at my home. There are 9 of us....small but fun!! After dinner we play games...even the kids play the games.
Have a great Blessed Holiday everyone.......

1.I will be with my older sister, her son and daughter, mom, maybe brother and girlfriend in Houston (my sister is married to Scott Duvall, sister Shelly Duvall) fun to share.
2.The usual turkey and dressing but sometimes there is a surprise entry in the feast... I will bring this incredible dessert I've made before called: Chocolate Cloud...oh yea! rich and fat with a orange sauce that goes with it and if you love chocolate...

3.Oyster dressing!
1. We run the Sheltering Arms Turkey Trot here in Houston and that afternoon go over to friend's house for dinner.
2. We are vegetarian, so hubby with cook his wonderful squash casserole to take over to our friend's house. We will have side dishes that have no meat in them.
3. My favorite dish is pumpkin pie.
My prayers are with you and your family.
I feel like I need to let you know I have Multiple Sclerosis. I am doing great, but I felt like for some reason that I needed to let you all know. Maybe there is someone you know that has this disease. I am thankful to HIM that I am doing so well and can still do my running, including marathons.
I love reading everyone's Thanksgiving plans!
This year I am especially grateful to be celebrating Thanksgiving because of where my life has gone this past year. You see, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving of last year, doctors told us that my 52 year old father had a 12 cm tumor and he was immediately admitted to the hospital. A week later we found out he had a cancer called Multiple Myloema. We ended up moving him to Little Rock Arkansas where he was hospitalized until Christmas Day. Today my dad stands IN COMPLETE REMISSION and is once again home. So, it is with an overflowing heart that my husband, 3 kids and myself will be celebrating Thanksgiving with BOTH of my parents and the rest of our large family.
Yes, we do the traditional Turkey and dressing meal, although my hubby is pushing to get steak added to the menu!
My favorite dish (and this will sound crazy) is left over turkey sandwiches! And my grandmother's chicken and dumplings.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
1) We will go to my parents' home, just 30 min. away, with both of my brothers and their families, our 3 grown up children, daughter-in-law and 3 year old granddaughter.
We have invited my mother-in-law to come here, too.
2) Traditional turkey, dressing AND ham, and all the trimmings.
3) one of my favorites is broccoli casserole, I like everything.
I sold my ticket for Deeper Still next week. God made arrangements for me to go to Houston in Jan. instead. Can't wait!
1)This year we will enjoy Thanksgiving with a family in our community...sort of our home away from home. My husband is a Music Minister and we live in MS...a LONG ways from our beloved Texas homeland!
2) Yep, turkey and dressing...although I'm sure I'll be surprised with at least one new southern delicacy! ha!
3) My fav dish is not a really a dish at all, but a bite...you MUST try it! You take your fork and load a bit of turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce onto it. Then you shove the whole big bite in your mouth...c'mon, I know you can do it! Tell me how it goes...love you much!
TO ANONYMOUS WHO MOVED FROM THE MIDWEST TO NC: Sweetheart, if you need a place w/ lots of love from total strangers who dig God, then drop me a line fethfamily@gmail.com. We're outside of Raleigh and have 4+ families from our church getting together. If you've got it covered, then enjoy your celebration!
My Mom died in July, so our new fam tradition will be to pick up my 44 year-old sister from the nursing home where she lives (yeah, you read that one right) and have her up for the Holiday.
We're fixing stuffing a la Biggest Loser style. If anyone wants the recipe it's on the website. It's delicious.
My favorite will be my husband's pies.
Praying a fun and safe Thanksgiving to all!

Happy Thanksgiving, Mama Beth!
We are off Wednesday for a nine hour drive to Savannah, GA to be with my wonderful in-laws.
Turkey and dressing definitely are at the top of my list.
My favorite is dessert! My mom makes an apple pie and pumpkin pie and pecan pie that could seriously be sold. I, unfortunately, have not been able to master the family recipe, but must get serious about doing so.
I totally relate to your life being a mixture of pain and joy. That has been my life for an extended season. But He is good all the time!
Love you much,
Shawn
1. We will be "just us" this year. My husband is a pilot so we will celebrate TG on Friday. My four daughters will be with us. One home from college!
2. Turkey and dressing. And I make both southern cornbread with pecans and sausage a and yankee dressing.
3. My great grandma's baked pearl onions. I know it sounds strange but they MAKE Thanksgiving. they are boiled and then baked in a butter/brownsugar/mustard sauce. They are FABULOUS!!
1) A handful of us single girls get together for Thanksgiving. We are all far from family. This is our third year in a row. One of the girls makes the entire meal...we offer to contribute but she insists on doing it all. Who can argue with that?! :-) Then we play games and laugh our heads off. It's a huge blessing since I'm so far from my family.
A note to those who have family to spend Thanksgiving with...pay attention to friends around you that don't have family near. Chances are they might not have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving. Take it from a single gal...it means the world to be invited to someone's house for a holiday celebration when your family is so far away. You have the opportunity to be a huge blessing to someone who might otherwise feel very lonely during the holidays.
2)Typical turkey and dressing meal although my friend always mixes it up with the appetizers and desserts each year.
3)Mashed Potatoes...that's all I need. My grandma used to double the amount made just to accomodate my grandpa and I since the two of us would go nuts over the mashed potatoes.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Abbie
1) My husband is a pastor and we have a service on Thanksgiving a.m. (@ 7:00 in the a.m.!!!!!!) so we'll be draggin ourselves and our 3 kids out of bed at- gulp- 6 a.m. and heading to church.
2) Once we get home from church and I get a nap.... I'll fix a small, but fairly traditional dinner. This year my oldest son will be cooking the sides. He's been taking cooking classes all year and is anxious to show off his skill :)
3) My favorite dish is really chocolate pecan pie, but I never get to eat that for some reason so my next favorite is a fork with a little bit of turkey, dressing and cranberry suace on it. YUMMMMMMM :)
I didn't mean to leave anyone out! If there's anyone in the Triangle area of NC (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) who needs a place full of love and laughter, please feel free to e-mail me - fethfamily@gmail.com. There's always room for more at the table!
Peace,

Happy Thanksgiving Beth. Blessings to you and your family. Thanks so much for your study on Revelation. I learned so much. Just finished Esther and bought your "To Live is Christ" study to do next.
1. I will spend the holiday with my parents, siblings, neices, nephews, geat-neices at Walden on Lake Conroe just outside Houston. It's a perfect meeting place for everyone (around 15-20). Us girls will laugh till our stomachs hurt too (My Mom and 3 sisters), especially while we have Keyword tournaments.
2. My Dad always does the turkey and dressing and gravy. I do two sides and my Mom and sisters do sides and desserts.
3. My dad's dressing and my Mom's squash casserole.
Peace be with you all. Be safe in all your journeys.
Houston, TX
We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving this year with a small group of our American friends in Singapore (on Thursday night since all the men have to work because it's not a holiday over here). We'll have traditional food, which I am so thankful for and I don't have to cook it! My favorite is my mom's dressing and pumpkin pie!
I'll be with my husband and my in-laws, in Ada, Oklahoma.
We will be doing the traditional feast!
My favorite is cranberry sauce and turkey.I love the salty sweet combo!
blessing to you

We are missionaries in Peru serving our first term! We will be having a nice Thanksgiving dinner (complete with CHICKEN) with two American girls who attend the Bible Institute we work at. We had friends and family send down boxes of good ol' Stove Top Stuffing and cans of pumpkin. The rest will be made from scratch. We found (rather expensive) cans of sweet corn and are looking forward to having good corn for the first time since arriving. It will be different, that's for sure!!

1. We live far away from extended family, so this year I'll celebrate Thanksgiving with my husband and two sweet boys (3.5 and 1.5 years).
2. This is our second year of just our small family for Thanksgiving, so we're still trying to perfect the traditional Turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.
3. Ordinarily, my favorite dish would be the pumpkin pie (hands down), but I'm pregnant with #3 and I loose my taste for desserts during pregnancy. So, this year my favorite will be the Turkey...and we bought the 22 pounder...so I'll have lots of it. :)
Happiest of Thanks-giving days!
1) All three girls home from college and extended family here at my house too!
2) Turkey and dressing - every time.
3) Favorite dish: pumpkin dessert made with yellow cake mix and lots of butter. Yum.
Much love to you, your family and your wonderful staff! You're all in my prayers.
1) We will be having dinner at my grandparents house with just close family.
2) We do the traditional Thanksgiving meal except this year my sister and I are doing all the cooking. (could turn out to be quite an experience!)
3) My favorite dish at Thanksgiving is the sweet potatoes.
I have 4 boys, 2 of them are in college and live in other states, they will both be home for thanksgiving. So i am looking forward to all 4 boys being together again. It gets pretty crazy! also my parents will be here as well.
we have Turkey with all the trimmings and i have to say the stuffing is my favorite!!! YUMMO!!
We do have a new member of our house, we just got a new puppy yesterday. She was a rescue dog and is very shy. Should be interesting to see how she handles the craziness of our house with all the boys home :)
1. I will be with my in-laws on T-Day & then make a quick drive to KY(from TN) to see my parents and enjoy the TN/KY football game in Lexington on Saturday with my sister and her husband...a tradition we started about 6 years ago. (my sister, her husband, my husband and the cousins)
2. We will have a traditional meal, however, our Christmas dinners...you never know. My favorite one was seafood a few years ago.
3. I don't have a favorite dish...please don't stick your tongue out at me but....I'm just not crazy about food. I know, WEIRD!
Have a great holiday!
Richelle in Tennessee
1. My house, my husband and two children and my parents, aunt, uncle , cousin and her husband and my father in law.
2. Traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.
3. My favorite dish, my momma's potato salad while it is still warm...YUM, YUM!!!!!
Wishing for you a very Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless
Dear Beth, wishing you and yours a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
I will be working Thanksgiving; voluntarily. No hubby, no kids; so volunteer to work for those who do have kids and grandkids. Hope to get to my sister's Thursday evening before all turkey & dressing is gone. Favorite dish: toss up between cornbread dressing and pecan pie.
Prayers for you and your family. Thank you for all you do!
Joy; Cairo, Ga.
Happy Thanksgiving
1) This year, all of my kids will be home for Thanksgiving along with my new daughter-in-law. We will all travel to my sister's house and enjoy a big Thanksgiving with cousins and grandparents. Can't wait!!!
2) We have the traditional Thanksgiving with turkey and cornbread stuffing. It's got to be cornbread stuffing. I will not settle for anything else.
3) My favorite dish is sweet potato casserole. Love it.
Melissa's hot pumpkin recipe sounds interesting. Will she share it?
1) Thanksgiving tradition of lunch with my mother's family. At 46, it is reminescent of my childhood. So blessed to still see my mom, aunts, uncles and cousins(there is usually at least 40 of us)
2) Turkey and dressing with giblet gravy, but also gotta have some ham.
3) Sweet potatoe casserole with pecans and brown sugar on top. Usually save it for last so I don't eat so much dessert.
So thankful for your teaching.
Blessings to you and your family.
Hi Beth, Amanda, and Melissa!
*I am having dinner at my home, we will be eating later in the day so my mom can enjoy a meal too as she works at an assisted living center cooking for the dear elderly folk!
*We are having turkey and stuffing and all the fixins and of course best of all pies...pumpkin cream cheese and pecan (my husbands favorite)
*I love stuffing and if it is not a secret I would enjoy hearing your recipe!
Blessings to you and yours!
Love Tammy in SD I'm thankful for prayer- know that you are in mine: )
Hey Beth and fam!
I am hosting 14 in-laws at my home this Thanksgiving. It should be loud with 14 Italian/Portuguese family members.
We have the traditional meal (I'm from Louisiana), but there's always lasagna as well. Lots of pies and laughter.
I heard a quote from a John Piper sermon this past week that I think is profound: "Sustaining grace is not a grace that bars us from all but bliss or flight from distress, but it is a grace that orders our trouble and pain and in the darkness is--sustaining us." Awesome! Thank you John Piper.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Stephanie
My family and I are spending Thanksgiving right here in the midwest...just the three of us. But we will spend Christmas with our extended family in South Carolina. We plan to have turkey, ham and dressing. My favorite dish is the dressing!! Love the stuff. I'm in seminary and I will take a 2 day break to spend quiet fun time with my family. God is doing great things in our midst and we will offer him extended praise and thanksgiving.
Hi, Beth!
I'm so excited to hear about your Thanksgiving plans.
Right now, we still do not know what we will be doing. Usually the men in our family will go deer hunting on Thanksgiving morning while the ladies are making last minute preparations. We gather at my uncle's house around noon for a pot-luck meal and allow the men to regale us with hunting stories of the morning. However, my aunt recently had surgery so I don't know if she will feel like having all of us. Her name is Barbara, and I appreciate your prayers for her. If we don't go down there, then our immediate family (Mom, Dad and I) will have Thanksgiving dinner that evening and let Dad tell some hunting tales. This year we are especially looking forward to Christmas, since my brother will be down from Alaska.
Instead of turkey, we normally have chicken and dressing. It seemed there was so much waste with a turkey. We have all the trimmings as well
My favorite things to eat are the casseroles that people bring (we don't eat casseroles at home, Dad does not care for them), my aunt's baked beans and sweet potato pie.
1. We'll be at our place in the country in Arkansas along with 17 of my hubby's family. He told them to "come early and stay late" which I interpreted as a loooong day. Nope...They arrive Tuesday and stay until Saturday!!! Whoa...lots of happy hungry faces, and I'm SO EXCITED to get with it!
2. All the traditional fattening stuff followed by football and naps for those lucky enough to find one of 4 recliners!
3. Just one??? chicken and dressing with a layer of cranberry sauce spread over the top!!! (and pie...and homemade yeast rolls)
I am hungry for some stuffing. I made a 6 quart crock pot full from 50 cups of dried home made bread, for our Sunday church dinner. Well, some dear man put my crock on top of the hot stove. No crock, no stuffing.
And I love pumpkin pie, but my Mom and sister do not. So we always have a lemon meringue pie, too.
Terri
It is the Annual Schwartz Family Thanksgiving for me! I think that I have only missed it once (we were living in FL and couldn't make the trip to MI that year.)
We will have Turkey and dressing, both a store turkey (cooked by me-it'll be my first one this year!) and a wild turkey-compliments of my Dad. We also have a roast every year.
My favorite dish is mac n'cheese! I just love it! Yum!
1. My daughter (expecting our first grandchild) and her husband will be home with us for a couple days. Along with our son (who lives with us) and my husband will all head to my mother's for the noon meal. And then to my sister-in-law's (my husband's sister) for dinner.
2) Turkey and ham with the homemade dressing and all the fixin's.
3) Cauliflower with cheese and the homemade dressing. And my mom's custard pie if she makes it.
Blessed Thanksgiving to all of you!
Kim
hello Siesta family!!
I'll be spending this Thanksgiving here in Kansas with my man, our three sweet kids and a pregnant 28 week belly! =)
I'll be slow cooking a turkey with dressing and the fixings...but only making enough for the 2 adults to eat w/ a little left over. The kids are 5, 3 and almost 2 ~ so they're not real *into* the deliciousness that *IS* Thanksgiving Dinner! (poor souls ~ they'll learn soon enough!)
Picking a favorite dish is soooo hard! Mostly because we never eat these things at other times of the year...usually. So. Hm. {doesn't help that I'm pregnant!!!!} This year, I think I'm most looking forward to cranberry relish. The sweet and sour tang is going to be very platable. I found a great recipe a few years ago that uses pineapple, cranberries and walnuts. YUM!
Much love to each of the Moore/Jones/Fitzpatrick family members! May you be richly blessed this Thanksgiving Day!!
~rachel
Love you ladies and appreciate you immensely! My business was able to donate some of Beth's books (among other practical things) to a local battered women's shelter, so we are praying that they would be blessed. Moving on...
1. First year of being married and my husband and I are dividing the day between my family and his. Love it!
2. Turkey and dressing, for sure.
3. My favorite dish is the mashed potatoes! Although, I asked my dance students what their favorite Thanksgiving dish was last week and the overwhelming response was: pie! :)
Already celebrated Thanksgiving!!! We Canadian's celebrate, in October and then leave room in between before Christmas. We have turkey and stuffing(I'd like to try cornbread stuffing, never had it) and it sounds yummy! I love apple pie but most like pumpkin pie. Happy Thanksgiving to us GOBBLE GOBBLE TILL YOU WOBBLE WOBBLE and please be Thankful for all that you have!!! We are blessed!
For every single year of my 35 year old life, Thanksgiving has been at my parents' house. Until this year. And all 21 members of my dad's family will be coming to my house. And let's just say that they are a colorful, interesting, "is that REALLY your family?" bunch. Prayers appreciated.
But I love them to death. All of their tattoos, skin colors, hilarious stories, piercings, and quirks. (And my dad is a ultra conservative Southern Baptist Pastor and these are his peeps. Totally Pilgrims and Indians, for sure.) Thanksgiving isn't right without them. Well, and my mom's dressing, which should be its own food group.
Happy Thanksgiving, LP Peeps. So much love to you all!
Robyn
1)We are with my parents this year. My grandparents (only living ones) will be here and may be our last with them. My brother and his wife are here, my sis in law's grandmother, my aunt and her son ... should be a fun time as we are all sleeping in the same house :)
2)yes, very traditional around here! Will miss my grandmothers stuffing this year but my mom does a good job of making it as well.
3) favorite dish is pecan pie and my daddy's smoked turkey! Oh it's the best!
So much to be Thankful for this year and every year past, but seem to be more aware of God's goodness and blessings on our lives this Thanksgiving season! I am becoming keenly aware that if Thanksgiving is the month of thanks, then Christmas is the month of redemption! So we are redeeming time this year.
1)It will be an intimate immediate family affair in our home. Our oldest arrived from college today, and we are all ready to get this party started.
2)Traditional is the only way to go in our home...but we pardon the turkey and go solely with ham.
3)My personal favorite is corn bread dressin'. Since I haven't perfected, I am thawing my mother-in-laws frozen contribution and going to be blessed!
Enjoy your Thanksgiving...I am thankful for the ministry God has allowed you to have and the many ways it has changed, challenged and comforted my life!
So glad you guys are enjoying some time off :) love to all-
1. Our extended families all live with in an hour of our home, and therefore we get to see everybody!! Its great! We'll eat 3 TIMES....yes a full Thanksgiving dinner x 3!! But we'll have a day or so in between to rest LOL.
2.Turkey all the way...every time.
3.My favorite dish is...Apricot Nectar cake my aunt makes YUM.
Hi Beth- I enjoyed hearing about your Thanksgiving, and thanks for asking us to tell about ours.
My dear sister Marion hosts the Thanksgiving Dinner at her home in Montgomery, AL. ALL of my loved ones will be there, including my 2 sons John and Sam and my daughter-in-law Cathleen that I have not seen in a few months! I am so excited!
My family always has turkey and dressing and the dressing is my very favorite part of the meal when it is topped with gravy and cranberries (the congealed kind in the can!) on the side.
I am also looking forward to a few days off- my little Indians in my kindergarten class have about got me tied to the stake in their excitement!
Yes, we all are incredibly blessed...you and your dear family will remain in my prayers.
Lovingly,
Fran
Happy Thanksgiving!!
1.We will gather at my mom and dads home as we do every year...4 generations as well!
2.Turkey,dressing and Chicken and Dumplings. My mom makes the dressing with gizzards and all that stuff I would rather not know was in there. My husband thought for years that it was just mushrooms in the dressing!!LOL.But oh so YUMMY!!
3.Squash casserole and pecan pie
Have a great week together!!!
Jana
We will be getting together with family at our house. Our older three children (step) will be with their mom but will likely visit us later. My mom will be here and we will have to call my brother in Hawaii to wish him a happy Thanksgiving. I believe my Mother & Father in Law will be here and possibly some cousins, if they choose to make it. So it could be a smallish affair or a big one... (shrug) It's good to be flexible. :o)
We'll have pretty much all the usual. Turkey, dressing, corn souffle, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy and pumpkin pie. We are going to do a couple of things different this year though. We are going to cook the sweet potatoes by baking them with olive oil, rosemary, & salt and pepper and we are making cole slaw instead of salad.
Hmmm... my favorite dish is probably the corn souffle... very tasty.
May you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving!
Anna
Sullivan, MO
Just for variety; pizza, pie (Rhubarb my husbands fav), some crudites at my parents (they have TV) and football with my 3 teens and hubby. Looking most forward to serving and spending Wednesday with the homeless and needy families at the local Thanksgiving Feed. Saturday partial Vegan Thanksgiving with my sis and her family at my house. Different is good too. So grateful... that's the focus. Praying for Passion already (will be praying there too)!
We are headed up from Indiana up to Minnesota to spend Thanksgiving with my 4 children, their spouses, and my DARLING 18-month-old grandson! Happy Thanksgiving...the Lord is GOOD!!!
