Here and Now, There and Then
Is there something you've always dreamed of doing? I've always wanted to do two things. Well, if I thought hard enough about it I could probably name a hundred things, but we'll stick with two. First, when I was a kid I used to dream about galloping across a golf course on a horse. Don't ask me why! Second, I've always wanted to work in a bookstore.
In college I was sort of an unofficial Beth Moore book supplier to a lot of the Christian girls on my campus. Our resource director, Diane, would hook me up with the books that had been requested and then I'd get them to my friends or friends-of-friends. The only problem was that since they were my mom's books, I had the hardest time letting the girls pay for them. Diane probably had to mark most of them down as donations, which I'm sure she was pleased to do, but the point is I was a terrible book seller!
Even so, the dream of working in a bookstore has lived on in my heart. Every time I drive past a LifeWay store, I imagine myself working there. I think it would be so cool!
Well, this semester I've been getting to work at our resource table at Bible study with Diane, Evangeline, and several other co-workers and volunteers. It's kind of been a scaled-down version of my dream and I've loved it! It's been really fun to stand behind the tables and help our ladies with questions they have about the products. (But it's so hard for me to take their payment. I'm still compelled to say, "Oh, don't worry about it!")
Tonight is the last session of our Revelation study. It's been an amazing semester and I can't wait to see how the Lord will wrap it all up for us. Some of you have asked if this series will be made available and I wanted to let you know that it will! Praise the Lord!
The Revelation DVD Set - Here and Now, There and Then - will be available after the New Year. We've actually been taking pre-orders for it on our web site for the last month. The product will begin shipping the first week of January and it will go out in the sequence in which we received the orders. If you're interested in doing this 11-week series, you can see a video clip and pre-order it here. There is an accompanying listening guide that includes some brief weekly assignments. (Not full-scale homework like many of our other studies.) If you have any questions, you can email our resource department through the contact page.
As usual, I didn't ask my mom if I could tell this on the blog because she's generally averse to product promotion. But I wanted all of our siestas who wished they could be with us every Tuesday night to know that this is going to be available. At least if Mom gets mad and wants to fire me, I can now put book sales on my resume. Maybe a LifeWay store would take me!

I'm laughing at that last paragraph...so funny! I've always believed strongly in the whole "easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission" thing! ;)
Thank you for posting this. I am very interested in doing the Revelation study, and I wouldn't have known that it was an option if you hadn't mentioned it. Thanks!
woohoo! so excited. i am passing this info on now!
I sooo can't wait! I knew it was coming and have already been counting the hours until it actually does!... until my "There and Then" is my "Here and Now" (in other words, until your new "over there" bible study is IN my "Here and NOW" immediate moment in my very own hands and I get to hold the thing and begin its study!).
I love you all so much! And am continually grateful to the God Who breathes His Life so abundantly through your lives into ours.
How GREAT is OUR GOD! Shall we all just burst into song to sing and to say so.......... :)
And just think - you may get to ride your horse across a golf course when we ride with Jesus upon his return. That was a cool part of your mom's study -- was it last week? We get to ride!
Yay! I so have wanted to hear the Revelation teaching. Thanks, Living Proof and LifeWay and whomever else (I suppose that would include you, Beth!) for deciding to make it available.
I've always wanted to go across India in a train; become a strong swimmer; donate blood, and learn to drive a stick shift.
But what I think would be most especially random and cool is to become a drummer!!!
Warm in Alaska.
Well I for one am very glad you passed this info on to us. Thanks Amanda! I will have to check it out. This year our pastor took us through the entire book of Revelation in Sunday services, and my head is still spinning. So much to think about! I think this material will help.
Love,
Adrienne
P.S. I can't imagine there is a Lifeway store anywhere that wouldn't love to have you working there....
Ya'll are so funny-you sure do know how to put a smile on this siesta's face........
Praise God, one more resource from your gifted siesta mama.....
Dear Amanda,
I don't really think I've ever told LPM what a blessing it is to have the mp3 files, the downloads, the DVD's, etc., available at the website! I've thoroughly loved having that additional resource. So thanks for plugging these things here.
Finally, I must tell you that the Franklin, TN Lifeway Store is like Disney World to me...so I totally GET YOU! :)
Have a great week, friend!
Blessings,
Dori
Will this be in the Lifeway store, my dream was to be a missionarey & go to 3rd world countrys, all sso to teach children espcalley in church(SS&VBS so own)I wanted farm & all kinds of animals,i waanted to write children books.
I am a housee wife I do teach some in church & have before(I am new at the church that God brought me to).I think mom will keep you.
Amanda, I'm so with you on the bookstore thing. Every time I go to Lifeway, I think, "Why am I in law school when I could be working at Lifeway?" In fact, I love Lifeway so much that it's my destress zone. If I'm having a bad day, I go to the nearest Lifeway and stay awhile. There's something about knowing that each book represents the ruminations/life lessons of fellow Christ followers that really gives me a sense of joy and peace! If only I could sit down and read everyone one!! (Plus, it doesn't hurt that all of the people who work in Lifeway are so friendly! Lifeway is to bookstores as Chick-fil-A is to fast food. Gotta love the fruit of the Spirit!)
P.S. Can't wait to do the Revelation study! I put it on my Christmas list :).
I am so glad you posted this. My church is in the middle of a revelation series and I would love to have another resource to look at.
Testing
Ahhhh...I have SUCH good memories of working at a small independently-owned Christian bookstore in high school (and the summers of college). I was definitely blessed with a perfect first job! Christmas time was definitely my favorite time of year...we would leave the door open and let the cool (not cold...its Texas!) air in. Another lady that worked there a few hours a week would bring in hot apple cider, cookies, and all sorts of treats to enjoy while shopping. I felt like I was in a scene from the 50's...so happy!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so glad to hear that Beth's study on Revelation will be available! I've been so envious of the ladies living in Houston who have been able to attend the Tuesday night Bible studies this semester. I'm currently doing Beth's Daniel study & have been wanting more to study on eschatology. I love the way Beth presents information.
And I don't believe for a minute she'd consider firing you. Blood is thicker than water!
That's funny about the golf course. My brother-in-law is a Lifeway Manager the DFW area and every time we are in town it's fun to hang out in his store! :)
I love, love, love books of all kind and working at a bookstore would be heaven on earth for me....except I would probably do very little working and much more browsing. I miss my days working in the resource room at LPM........when Evangeline didn't keep us busy wrapping books, I would hang out and read the covers (and maybe a chapter or two) of the books in there.
Good luck on the job thing.......I'm sure you have nothing to worry about!
Me too... I have always wanted to work in a Christian bookstore...When I am in the bookstore I seem to find myself helping someone decide what to get, and I don't even work there.
It was so much fun a couple of weekends ago when I got to work the Lifeway table at the LPL event in Springfield. It was a dream job, and since I was familiar with Beth's bible studies, and other author's studies it made my job easy :)
Blessings and I hear that bookstores always need some extra help during Christmas :)
You know Amanda my dream wasn't to work in a Christian Bookstore....but I darn near own one. It seems I am "addicted" to Christian books. Unfortunately I can't read as fast as I buy. But I LOVE them!!!!! I love that you have that to add to your resume'.
Have a blessed day.......
Bible Bunny in NO MI
Thank you for telling us - I have been wishing I was in Texas every Tuesday night since you ladies started this study and am excited to know I'll get to be a part of it after all!
I love your heart!!!
Amanda, I was the gift buyer for a local Christian bookstore for six years. Started there in highschool and continued on with the promotion to the buyer while taking my college classes. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was such a sweet season in my life and God really showed up in my life during that time. I even got to meet your sweet mom at a CBA convention one year when my man was in Iraq. I will never forget what she told me. It was so precious. It brings back such sweet memories. That was in 2003. God used those six years to bring me to Him like I had not known before. And, its funny b/c I still dream about galloping across a golf course on a horse. Or in Scotland on those green pastures.
xoxo, Bethany
I always wanted to work in a used bookstore...just love flipping through old books wondering where they have been and who has picked them up and flipped through their pages...
I've wanted to gallop on the beach but never a across a golf course..LOL too funny!!
I already pre-ordered the Revelation study and I CAN'T wait!!
I will pray that your "boss" is merciful and keeps you on. We do love your input and I can't imagine life without the Moore/Jones/Fitzpatrick updates!
Well I liked your idea of riding the hores of course I pictured Mr. Darcy waiting to greet me from Pride and Prejudice. OH I digress.
I have always wanted to have my tea and book store. I would call it something like the The Tea Book Nook. I know it sounds dorky. I haven't given up on that dream yet. Maybe when I retire from teaching who knows.
I am pretty sure Mama Beth will keep you on staff.
love to you all
Tammy
So funny Amanda! Right before I read your post I was calling Barnes and Noble to check on a book, and the automated message said, "If you would like to talk with a BOOKSELLER stay on the line." I thought that would be a cool job, a bookseller. Then I read your post! I agree.
I have always wanted to ride a horse across a BEACH, but have to say a GOLF COURSE never entered my mind!! (although maybe I should say 'fall off a horse at the BEACH.....) I hope you can one day though (ride it I mean, not fall off it) .....
Blessings,
karen:):)
I always always wanted to be a singer (I have 2 well known ones in the family). I feel like it's in my blood to sing for Christ since the others sings mostly country. God, show your will, do your will in our lives! Amen!!!
I have a ton of things I wished I had done but didn't. But I guess the one that sticks out is I always wanted to work crime scene investigation. I really like the idea of breaking down a crime until I figure out the who dunit part. My husband said a hearty NO to this plan because he said I have the worst nightmares (I call them dreams) he has ever heard of and he doesn't want me up all night rattling around the house sleepwalking - go figure haha!!
Tell mommaseeta Beth I am sooooo happy that Revelation will be available for all of us to study. I'm really looking forward to it. (My husband - not so much - back to that dream thing - haha)
Thanks a million!
Blessings

I love that you gave us this info! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Just this morning, laying in bed, I was thinking about how I've always wanted to be a waitress at this small restaurant downtown. It's like a 50s diner and the girls wear ribbons in their hair. Sometimes I think I'd like that life, seeing the same customers every day, talking to them while I refill their sweet tea.
Of course, I usually only fantasize about this job when my real job is stressful. :)
Awesome insight into what Here and Now, There and Then will be! Count me in with this wonderful Bible study! God is so good!
No worries, Amanda! You are so not pushing products at all! You're doing us all a great service letting us know what's available. I look forward to doing that study!
I work for a Lifeway! It is a pleasure and honor to suggest your mom's books as well as a host of other ladies bible studies!
PS I am sure a Lifeway is hiring somewhere....it is Chirstmas time in retail LOL
Amanda, I'm with you! I would love to work at a Lifeway. The only problem is they would fire me within the first week. I know I wouldn't get a thing done, I'd be too busy reading the books and looking at all the fun stuff they have. I can and have spent hours in that store! What a blessing from God it is!
Thanks so much for you time on the blog. It offers so much to all of us. I don't think you realize how much!!
God Bless
I will join you on riding across a golf course dream... my other dream is to have my own little cafe... serving great coffee, ice cream and fun food... and of course a GREAT fun atmosphere...
Oh - this would be such a great study to follow-up Daniel with. I'll finish it at the end of the year - so the timing is perfect. My husband and I are doing a pre-Advent study together now, and we're enjoying it together - so he'll get to do the Revelation study with me, too! Woo-hoo!
I've always wanted to travel the world. Great post, Amanda. I managed an independent Christian bookstore a couple of years. It was awesome! Sometimes I still miss it!
Thank you, Beth and everyone at LPM for making this study available. I can't wait to get it. Maybe a Christmas gift!!! I'll add that to my list.
I agree with everyone else, Amanda I don't think you have a thing to worry about, firing you could not possibly be on your boss' mind!!!
Love your humor, girl!
I am excited it is coming out! I used to live in Houston before getting married and was always there on Tuesday nights... I was there for Daniel and was hoping you would do a Revelation study!! Yeah!!
Sounds good Amanda. We finished Esther last night. Man, your mom just did a marvelous job with this study. I especially liked the chiastic structures. I spent a lot of hours looking through familiar stories looking for chiastic sructures.
We will start Daniel in January. Everyone I've talked to says it is such a good study.
Now as to what I would like to be: Mother to all the orphans in the world. I just love kids and have 2 adopted sons right now. My heart goes out to kids who have no mom or dad to love them. I may not of had the greatest home life, but I had a home to go to and I knew tomorrow it would be here also. Maybe someday I will inherit a billion dollars and could afford to adopt more.
Jan
I would love to be a librarian. That way I don't have to ask for money. We love it when you tell us about new books and studies.
wow, my first Bible study order Stateside!!! I am excited!
by the way, I love Living Proof's new website look!!
Maria Bruschi - Orlando, FL
Never much one for riding horses, I always wanted to picnic on a golf course. So if you manage to find someonewilling to let you gallop across the 14th fairway, let me know and I'll be waiting on the other side with a sandwich and some lemonade! ;)
And a Revelation study?! Are you serious!? How excited am I? I have wanted to get into Revelation for so long now and to know that Mama Beth has a study available?! I am beyond delighted!
I wanted to write for LifeWay, and now I do write for several of their publications, what a thrill the day two contracts came from two different magazines the same day for devotional articles I had submitted to each publication. There were a lot of rejections first, but God kept me going while I kept submitting article after rejected article until they finally started buying my pieces. I love to write of Him - for LifeWay!
Oh I so understand not being able to accept money for a book! I would so rather give it away!
I guess what I have to say I've learned about what I wanted to be as a child and who I am now, what I'm working towards...God changes the perspective. He always does.
I really love the fact that we have spiritual gifts; mine are creative communication, mercy, prophecy, and helps. Although, I'm not quite sure where wanting to be a teacher really fits in there, but I love to share with others about all sorts of things, including the Bible of course, but I get so enthusiastic about science, history, english...everything except math.
Okay, I dont' know where I was going with this, but I think I will say with regards to your wanting to work at Lifeway...girl, I would love to live there:) Just kidding:)
hate to tell ya, friend, but if you ever put "book sales" on your resume, you better make sure you can actually take the money first! ;) lol -you're too sweet!
For many years I've wanted to write a book that would encourage working women and provide some tools for dealing with the stress and struggles of the workplace, juggling family responsibilities and living our Christianity in the boardroom, on the assembly line, behind the cash register or wherever God has placed us. On Sunday mornings, I have all this inspiration, but by Monday morning at 8:05, it is often difficult to live my Christianity - meeting budgets, dealing with challenging people (and not just non-believers), disappointments in my career, etc. Maybe you will sell my book at Lifeway someday, and maybe you will ride across the golf course on your horse and find a quiet place to read it! In the meantime, will someone be by prayer partner about this? I don't want it to just be a dream. I've never done anything like this before, and it's hard to know where and how to begin.
I've always wanted to do a photographic journey type book.
And I've always wanted to meet Reba Mcentire, dont know what I would say, but it's what I want
Being a book addict, they would just keep my paycheck so that would not be a good career move for me!
My dream job has always run more along the lines of speaking, but believe me there would be SO much to overcome that it would take a blasted miracle!
I hope my "church" picks this study up, as they have purchased many of hers. I have longed for a qualified guided tour of Revelation for years now. Thanks God for answered prayers!
Many Blessings.
Tonya
Hey Amanda - I have the perfect job for you! I work with Institute for Christian Resources in San Jose, CA, and we establish Public Christian Libraries in foreign cities. (Budapest, Prague, and Berlin so far...) You could work at one and provide people with books they really need... for free! :) Don't tell your family or co-workers about this... it could get me into serious trouble! :)
- Diane
#1- Riding a horse on a beach would terrify the tar out of me. Running on sand = falling. Riding a horse running on sand = falling hard.
#2- It has been about 8 years since I have worked at one, but here are the top 5 things I think you you should know before working at a LifeWay store (in no particular order):
-Handling books dries out your skin. Have moisturizer handy. A moisturizer/ sanitizer combination is even better.
-Formal equivalence vs. dynamic equivalence.
-You should read every book in every genre in the entire store and retain all of the information, because some people will be surprised, for example, if one doesn't know all about "men's issues" or "intimate issues" even if one is an unmarried teenage girl.
-Most people tend to think you are friendlier and more interested in them if you over-exaggerate you southern accent.
- You will have to listen to the same veggie tales movie play over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and it will haunt you in your sleep :-)
><>Becca<><
Bless your heart if you could work in a bookstore. I'd be paying them to work there by the time it was all said and done which is precisely why my husband would probably never allow it. From a financial standpoint, it would be detrimental to our family.
Excited for this to release!
YIPPPPPPPPI, I was SO jealous last year to be so far away! Thank you guys so much for the goods! We are very grateful here in good ol' Tennessee! I can't wait to crack open a new study! I get so pumped cause I know I am going to meet with Jesus!
Kelly
can't wait to study THE REVELATION with by local siestas....yea!
I just made my way through the cattle drive and am in my seat for our Revelation study. I can't believe this is our last night!!! It's been a great study so, for any of you considering it for January, do it, do it, do it! Beth did a wonderful job in presenting the subject matter (and you know that's no easy task with that particular book). Besides being a fantasic teacher overall, in this study in particular I "extra" appreciate how she organizes the research to present a variety of scholars' viewpoints where it's needed. She does so much work for us! That means we don't have to wade through all the commentaries and we get to focus on Jesus and the important message. I hope you enjoy the series as much as I have!
Thanks,
Lynnette
Well....
1. Your mom is NOT going to fire you...you do a great job! And your ministry to us is priceless.
2. I'm betting any Lifeway Store would LOVE to have you....until you started not accepting payment for the goods.
3. I would love to do this study!!
I hope you get to have your horse on a golf course dream come true some day.
Melana
Amanda, I so get the "wanting to work in a book store" thing. I'd love to but I know I'd never take a paycheck home - it would go straight to buy books! And working in a Lifeway store? Are you kiddin'. I would almost pay them to let me work there! When I go to Lifeway, it's an event. There is no quick trip. And thanks for the tip on the Revelation study. I'm thinking that would make a lovely
Christmas gift - for me!
I too have always wanted to work/own a bookstore, a children's bookstore to be specific. I LOVE books and love sharing books. It would be wonderful!
Sherrie
This post was way too much fun. I do the same thing with my books--give them away. I can't help it! My hubby finally had to put his foot down (but he does look the other way quite a bit). I would loooooove to work in a bookstore with you! But between the both of us, we'd go broke in a week. How about a library? That'd be fun too.
p.s. I had a dream about you and your mom last night. I was trying to find something to wear that you wouldn't think was scandalous. :)
I had the privilege of working in two different Christian bookstores before I had kids. My dream has always been to own my own store! I might call it "Chapter & Verse" and it would definitely involve coffee as well. Maybe someday....
Thanks for letting us share our dreams!

well let me tell you...I am a Lifeway Employee and it is totally awesome. I've worked at lifeway two other times, while in college and while my hubby was in seminary. Now he is a pastor of a church and my kids are in school and i thought...what the heck, and here I am again in good ol' lifeway. I do love it and it is an awesome job. You're welcome to come visit anytime!
Well....I cannot wait to get my hands on this study and am so thankful that you shared this nugget of info with us!!!
Praying for your momma tonight as they are probably wrapping up right now.
Blessings over each girl there tonight!!!
Hugs~

Something tells me she won't fire you. I tried to get fired from working for my Dad when I was mad at him. He wouldn't fire me. He'd have fired anybody else, but not me. Parents are like that. And if she did I am sure LifeWay would LOVE to have you. Of course, you'd have to assure them that you would take people's money! But I know your mom will not fire you.
As for me I've always wanted to be an author. That would be enough for me, but since being a part of this, I want to do what your mom does. Maybe not on that huge a scale, but writing books and bible studies, and teaching God's Word to women sounds like a dream come true to me.
Already ordered mine and the Bible study gals can't wait! If I worked at a book store I would not make any money!

I just wanted to express my appreciation for making the Bible study sessions available to us. I live so far away ... so thanks for the promos and for keeping us posted.
Thanks! xo
You are adorable Amanda. I want to work at Lifeway as well! My dream job. Everytime I go there I spend way too much money, but I figure it is well worth it!
I'm so excited to see this becoming available! Will you have download versions of the sessions? Those are so nice when I can't meet with the group.
Thank you for including us in the Tuesday night lessons.
I always wanted to be a mommy and I am! I used to spend my allowance at the grocery store buying diapers and bottles for my baby dolls!
I saw the Revelation study on the website (the new site looks great, by the way)! I might just have to order that one :-).
I bet your mom will keep you on a little bit longer ;).
Our Bible study ladies just finished "The Inheritance" and I've already pre-ordered this series and can't wait!
We'll start in Feb. :)
Prayed for ya'll this evening. I always wanted to work in a bookstore too!
Love ya!
Amanda...you are my kind of girl! The "real" voice with which you share your heart blesses me more than you can know. Don't lose that quality of genuine humor and sweet grace! Jesus needs the pleasure you bring Him - this world is so heart breaking.
I was just telling a friend of mine how I longed for a study on Revelation...God is so good to me! Okay - He loves everyone else too! :-)
Kim
I thought I wanted to work in a Christian bookstore too, but when I did, I spent most of my earnings buying books, gifts and lattes! So be careful what you hope for!
Amanda
I can't imagine you being anything other than a joy and blessing to work with. I used to have a fish hatchery I built it from scratch I imported Cichlids (sick lids not Chiclets that's gum) LOL from Africa and catfish from So. America. I loved it and I cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed that enough but I went back to school for fisheries and aquaculture because I need the paper to really work in the field even with my 15+ yrs. of experience. So I had to give it up. I really miss it. So now to appease that yearning I play Fishville on face book LOL LOL My dream is to Have a humongous fish store. I want to carry everything possible. Now I am a discriminating fish person, I believe there are some fish that absolutely do not belong in someones aquarium. However my years of experience in the fish sub culture taught me that hobbyists like myself will travel for a great selection of fish and success in the hobby, that is what I want to give my customers. I would also like an aquarium showroom where people could come and see the latest technology in aquariums themselves, like the seamless spun acrylics, they are beautiful. Well there ya have it my dream oh, I would name it GinsFins. What do ya think about that name LOL

I think there is like a rule that Moms can not fire their daughters...at least as long as she has her coffee in your case, haha. My dream is to own a coffee house/bookstore with used and new books with a meeting area for bible study...maybe one day. In your defense, if you do not advertise, how will we know it is out there...food for thought
May I ask everyone to pray for me tomorrow.
Last week I had a routine mammogram. No nerves, I was back at my office in less than 30 minutes.
Monday I received a call from my doctor that they seen "something". Tomorrow (Thursday) I am going to our hopsital radiology to have a further diagnostic mammogram and an ultra sound.
God is in control and I am not too concerned over this. My biggest concern is the finances. This will not be covered by insurance becuase it is diagnostic not wellness and my deductible is $2,500. This should be about $300.00.
Pray that they find nothing and that God will provide the extra money for this at this time of year especially.

I've always wanted to work in a bookstore too. A couple of other things are that I've always wanted to be a writer (want to find inexpensive classes to help me structure & write books). The other thing is I've always wanted to be an Aesthetician since I was a little girl. Today I sell skin care products which is close but not the same. I've thought of going back to school for it but I have two little ones (4 & 1) and it's a little tough to do that. I'll be 44 this December so two out of the three may stay dreams. That's ok too.
Pity the Lifeway person that tried to take you from your momma ... she'd fight for you ... I know she would!
Our Bible Study group is currently doing The Inheritance and we love it. We will be ordering this Revelation study very soon. Thanks for the information.
Royana
Oh, it's so nice to know that someone else dreamed of working in a bookstore. I did too, and a couple years ago I worked part time at a FCS location near my house. I L-O-V-E-D it - sweet fellowship, lots of laughter, and a hard days work at the same time. It was very rewarding, and some days I miss it.
The only thing I don't miss is that I hardly ever took much $ home. I spent it all on books!
Love you guys dearly! Can't wait to jump into this study next year!
You are hilarious. I DO work at a Lifeway and it's great! And they would snatch you up in a heartbeat, so do apply if you feel the need. :) Sending big hugs your way! ~Laurie
Hi Amanda,
Last night wrapped up with nothing short of magnificent up lift. Up lift regarding end times some may ask? With your Mom at the helm to keep us focused on the truth how could anyone of us have left last night without such joy and anticipation in our hearts for what God has instore. I have pre-order the series and I can't wait grasp and digest more of the information that we have been given. Amanda, thank you and sweet Evangeline for putting up with Siestas like me that always had to stop at the resource table to chat and hug you both before study. Hope you continue to work in your mini bookstore and so look forward to seeng your sweet self at upcoming studies.
Many blessings and much love,

Amanda-
I know how you feel, I am a self-published author, and when I am out doing book signings and selling i often want to tell the one buying my book, don't worry aobut it this one is on me.
If your momma gets 'unhappy' at you, just look at her pitiful like, with big eyes, maybe pout if needed, I'm thinkin' she crumble. :0)
Reba
I have had the opportunity to work at a Joshua's Christian Bookstore and it was a fun job- especially since it was a Christian Bookstore- organizing the Veggie Tales area after kids have played and putting books in alphabetical order, but the funnest time was Christmas- it was busy!! That was back in the 90s
I've always wanted to be a stage manager. - I don't even know what that really means, but I've dreamed of making sure a show or event gets everything done in a professional fashion. Lights, camera, music, action! Ha!!
Amanda,
It was great seeing you "behind the tables" on Tuesday nights. I know you are a blessing to be on the front row for your momma.
Revelation was FANTASTIC!! I do not have the words to express the proper thanks to you, the LPM staff, and Momma Beth for this magnificant study. I can truly see God's Word coming alive for us as she speaks.
Bless you all.
Houston Ann
I may have to order that one to do on my own next summer.
I love the Lifeway stores. Unfortuanately we do not have one in the Twin Cities. The closest one is in Chicago. A couple of us have talked about taking a weekend trip to go shopping in Chicago. If I worked there, I'd probably owe them money every paycheck!
Amanda, Hosanna Lutheran Church in Lakeville, MN, suburb of Mpls., has a bookstore in their facility, kind of a mini Lifeway. It is called Daily Bread.
BTW, I love how LPM wraps items order. I received the Fresh Advent DVD yesterday and it was wrapped in such pretty pink tissue paper, I hated to open it. I loved the message. Wish I could have been there in person!

Oh, takes me back...when I worked at the Baptist Book Store in Kansas City, MO when my husband was in seminary. And back in 1973 I had to work in the basement because I wasn't Southern Baptist. I didn't mind because one of the perks was that we got to take books home for free as long as we returned them in good condition.
And as one whose daughter works for her--trust me, your Mom wouldn't change it for the world.
And we who don't live in Houston are so glad that you are sharing these studies.
Terri
I've already put my order in for Revelation. We just finished Esther last night. It's always sad when a study ends. You think you're ready for a break then after the 2st week you're ready to get back into it. Can't wait to receive Revelation. Thanks to all of you at LPM & Lifeway.
Beth, please don't be mad at Amanda for this post! So far my day has not been going so well, but finding out that you Revelation series will be released made it much better! I love Revelation and can't wait to hear you teach from it, especially after the Stockton LPL! :)
Amanda,
I love that you get to enjoy a little piece of your dream.
As for my dreams, I would love to write books.
Blessings to you, sweet sister,

I so can't wait to do this study! I am such a bible study junkie. However, I might be a little disappointed in the light homework. Oh how I love to do the scripture digging!
I have always wanted to be a business owner. I'm one of those people who drives by an empty building or lot and say to myself "what could I make that into." I have the pleasure of now being able to say I am a business owner. I have also always wanted to be an author. Part of my business is writing. So Amanda, when all my writing is published I'll let you sell it... or maybe give it away. LOL
I'm sure LifeWay would hire you as long as you got treatment for that "don't worry about paying us" issue.
So, I just went to neimanmarcus.com b/c I often do my "window shopping" there. As a newlywed, I can rarely afford to buy anything, but they have one of the most viewer friendly clothing websites, so I enjoy getting ideas!
Imagine my surprise when I see under apparel for her, the words "Here and Now" in a remarkably similar pink lay out to the Revelation study. I have no idea what to make of this coincidence, but I'm thinking I want the Here and Now God has to offer - not the one Neiman does. :)
We just finished studying Revelation in our Sunday School class. It was an awesome study - with all the stuff going on in the world, I am ready for Jesus to come get me!
As for books, I am an avid reader and would LOVE to work in a bookstore, especially Lifeway or Mardel. I live about 2 hours from Lubbock, TX, where both stores are located. I am like a kid in a candy store when I am in either establishment. My family literally has to drag me out. I guess it's a good thing we don't live closer!
Iam praying for our friend having the mammogram tomorrow.I hope the something is nothing.
I worked at a Christian bookstore for about one month and discovered that God had not called me unto retail. I did get work as a Christian school librarian for several years and had a lot of fun with book fairs. You get used to taking money after a while (and with being a substitute "mom" for kids who have no clue how to count their money or match it to the cost of a book!).
Note to parents: Your small children really do have no concept of the value of money. They have no idea how to correspond a price tag to the number on the currency.
Gallop across a golf course on a horse? isn't there a scene like that from the Son of the Black Stallion book? I wonder if that is where this particular dream of yours came from.
I think it sounds perfectly reasonable. Look me up in heaven and we'll go do that.
I was able to work at a Lifeway store from about this time last year until May 09. I learned so much and loved helping customers--especially those who were looking for a Bible! My problem was as you can imagine---trying not to spend all my paycheck in the store!

I've always wanted to be an archaeologist. There are days when I'm sweeping up dirt from my kids' cleats that I feel pretty darn close.
Is there any possibility I can get a free ( it can be used ) copy of this study Ive been out of work for close to a year and have a daughter who hasent been lately gong to church but has agreed to do this study at home with me if it can be supplied to us Who can say no to that right? Maybe she can ease her way back into church this way again You dont have to post this comment I'll understand but I thoght it would be a way to express my need to the source who makes it available. I was thinking of inviting some of her frieds to and turn it into a home group bible study. Please help make this possible for us & thanks for your time

OK......I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "LifeWay" bookstore! We have 2 Christian book stores in our town and only one carries Ms. Beth's studies. Needless to say, that's the only one I go to.
I have ordered online from LifeWay but to go to a real store.......oh, my.!! I would be IN TROUBLE for sure!!
Oh, so much to do and so little time! :-) I don't know what I want to do first...Breaking Free, Updated Version or "Hear and Now, There and Then"...I thank God for LPM (and Lifeway) for making such wonderful Bible teachings available.
Thank you. Didnt know she was working on Revelation. Bought mine yesterday.
This made me think of something overheard at the dinner table last night from my 4 year old son to his dad...
"You're fired."
Who does he think he is? Donald Trump? LOL. Who knows where they pick this stuff up, right?
Thanks for sharing the info, Amanda. I hope to pick up a copy. Is it the kind of thing that a group of girls could go through like a Bible study together? Would love to use it that way if y'all think it would work.
My church is already planning to have a home study with your Revelation series at my house starting in January. Can't wait!! I am just about to finish Wising Up, which is truly one of my favorites, although they all are! God speaks to me so much through Beth's studies and I am so grateful she has sold out to Jesus so we can learn and be mentored by her!
As for Lifeway stores, I love going, but I always feel so frustrated because I want to read it all, I want to absorb it all and be changed, and I have such a hard time choosing. But thank God that there are so many wonderful resources out there for our many struggles here in this life!
Thankful for you all this Thanksgiving!! and always :)
very funny....I loved this post! Thank you for letting us know!! :)
Okay now that you say Beth doesn't like you talking product on the blog I know why maybe you don't talk about her the series on Oneplace, which is great one "The Priesthood" and why you seldom mention Beth's teaching on Life Today. They are both such great teachings, I really encourage you to let the Siesta's know about them. I'd say I've let them know but with hundreds of responses if peoples lives are like mine they may not have the time to read our posts. Soooo I encourage you to help get the word out about the Oneplace teaching and LifeToday. Erin
I've ALWAYS wanted to work in a bookstore! Sigh. I'm just a book lover! :)
Prayers and blessings,
Rebecca
I was like you and wanted to have a store...not just work at one. I sort of got the opportunity to do that a few years ago when I was asked to manage a store. The owner really didn't like that I would give away more ideas than sale the book that might have some of the ideas in them. Now, however, I work at LifeWay (B&H division). I love promoting your mother's books. But I also love the fact that when people realize I work for LifeWay, they always think the store, never realizing all that is involved with that name. I still dream of having my own store...but a quilting store in the back woods of Tennessee where ladies would come and quilt all day on the back of the Piney River and drink sweet tea and fellowship.
Amanda:
Thanks for promoting the study... I have already pre-ordered it and I know the aurthor loves you so much that she will overlook your last paragraph... I think your job will be secure with her... \0/ praise Him!!!!
So funny ... Love you all!!!!

The Revelation study was probably my favorite!! (also Believing God...just LOVED the presence of the Holy Spirit at that one too)
Beth, I teach 6th grade girls at my church and our jr high is studying Revelation now...So, I've been able to teach them what you've taught us (and they are all WIDE-EYED!!!) & also I teach your info to the other teachers b/4 they teach their classes!!! THANK YOU!!!!

The last night of study was great!! And I requested at the end of service for Beth to put her "story" (the one she asked her daughter to write down on a note for her so she wouldn't forget!) on the blog since she didn't have time to tell it during study! She said she would do that....so I'm waiting Siesta Momma!!!

I want this study and I want the Inheritance study, such hard decisions...maybe I can convince my man to get both for me for Christmas. He's a complete handsome doll, he might if I ask Him:)
Blessings to ya'll, Love in Him, ((HUGS)) to LPM!

Amanda,
Aaaahhhh, It's Tuesday night and I'm not driving to HFBC for Bible study so I'm a wee bit melancholy, missing my study buddies! (I have an Advent study I'm doing though.) I posted here originally while I was waiting for all the fun to begin. The post reminded me to get a couple of gifts and I went out to the resource table. You were helping ladies so I didn't interrupt. You did look like you were having fun! A bit random though to be at the intersection of "real life" and picture painted by you in this post. Don't suppose I really thought about it before.
And I was tickled by your mom wanting you to jot her a reminder note at the start of the study. cute.
Just reminiscing,
Lynnette in Houston
"The Word that God speaks is alive and full of power-making it active, operative, energizing and effective; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and (the immortal) spirit, and of joints and marrow(that is, the deepest parts of our nature) exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart." Hebrews 45:12 AMP
