Siesta Scripture Memory Team Celebration Registration
Whew! That title was a mouthful!
Siestas, congratulations on making it all the way to Scripture 21. It is finally time to register for the Siesta Scripture Memory Team Celebration! Woo hoo! (From now on you might see it abbreviated as the Siesta SMT Celebration.) This is a free event for all of our Siestas who have been working hard to memorize two Scriptures a month in 2009. It will be held at Houston's First Baptist Church on January 22-23, 2010.
Before I tell you how to register, I need to emphasize one thing. We know based on the size of HFBC's worship center and the number of comments that we get on our Scripture memory posts that we can accommodate every single one of our Siesta Scripture Memory Team members. Praise God! We are not in danger of selling out this event, for lack of a better word. Please know that you can take your time registering. If you're not sure that you can really attend, please wait to register until you know that you can. We won't close registration until two weeks before the event. Having an accurate count will help us tremendously as we plan for that wonderful and long-anticipated weekend. Thank you so much!
Registration Step One:
Please read our event FAQ page for all the details. If you have a question that isn't answered, it will explain how to handle that.
Registration Step Two:
Follow this link to our registration page and register thyself!
We were a little nervous about rolling out registration on a Sunday because our web masters are not on call. But we really wanted to do it in conjunction with today's verse. So if you have any trouble registering, please know that we will do our very best to get it sorted out on Monday.
The whole LPM staff is so excited to spend a great weekend with you, Siestas! We can't wait. Thank you for taking this Scripture memory journey with us.
*You will see the post for memory verse #21 right below this.*

And I will be there in Houston in January, I already have my airline ticket. (Will complete registration sometime this weekend after getting a chance to read all the info.)
Can't wait. 75 pounds less of me will be in Houston ready to celebrate for a whole lot of reasons!!!
Jan
I sure wish I was still living in Houston and not on the other side of the world because I would SO be there in January! I know it will be such a blessing for those that can attend.
I can't wait! And this time I don't have to fly...in a plane anyway!! I'll just have to watch my lead foot on the freeway.
Thanks for giving us this challenge this year, Beth. I can't believe how many times my verses have popped into my tho'ts when a situation comes up. Wow! What a blessing this has been in my life!
Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

PUMPED!
LPM Team & Siesta Beth thank you so very much.
Colossians 3:15-17 TNIV
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Looking forward to being in Houston - will register after church
I don't expect that I will be able to make this event (an atlantic flight and two small children are the obvious problems!) but I certainly would have been there if I possibly could have been!
I just wanted to say that I have 100% enjoyed doing these memory verses and plan to carry on with this for a long long time (I have purchased 15 spiral notepads to encourage other ladies at church to join in a group to do this from Jan) - it has been life changing -thank you Siesta Mama!
Whoo-Hoo!!! To say I'm excited would be a HUGE understatement!!

I just got my plane ticket on Southwest, a great deal last week....I am so excited, I've never been to Houston. It's on my calendar. can't wait. Pam in San Diego
Have a blast y'all. I know it will be great! I really don't have a way to get there or I would be there. Houston seems so close but it just isn't do-able this time.
I am THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED to be coming! This it one time when I really want time to fly.
I am looking forward to seeing you in OKC in Dec and in your home in Jan. Twice in two months is very exciting. What a way to end one year and start another. Praise be to GOD.
SO excited and I can't wait to see you all and my fellow Siestas!!
Love,
Patty
To say that I'm excited is a HUGE understatement! I have had my ticket and everything for quite some time! My verses have really helped me this tear! Thank you, Beth, for offering this challenge. My verses have both helped and challenged me this year. See you in January, God willing!
Joan
P.S. I love words and my verification word is soact. If you split it between the "o" and the "a", it reads, "So act", pretty fitting I think.
I already have my airline reservation and now my event registration. I am REALLY looking forward to this!!!

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

I am so sad that I didn't participate in the SMT this year... maybe next year. I hope you all have a great, encouraging time in Houston!
I would love to be at the celebration and wish I didn't live way over here on the West Coast!
Truly, being part of the Scripture Memory Team has been for me like a spring in the wilderness. I hope, Beth, that you will continue this ministry and challenge next year. This is the first time in my many years as a Christian that I have strived to commit Scripture to memory. And it has been life changing, both when I need a Word from God and when I need an apt Word to encourage another. I pray come January 1, 2010, that you will call me to Verse 1 of the new year! Many, many thanks...
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. I was hoping that my husband's business trip to Dallas would end up being in January and I could maybe go with and take a bus to Houston for that weekend or something, but his trip ended up happening in October. He just got back two nights ago. Today's my daughter, Angela's, 9th birthday, and we're finally starting to notice an improvement in her attitude, so we have lots to celebrate here today! Unfortunately her daddy has to work tonight, so the celebration will have to be postponed until tomorrow night.
It will be a definite God celebration.. Ooohh the things He has done and revealed to me and other siestas in obediance and humility...I have been blessed since the 1st memory verse! He is an amazing God!!!
You ladies are so awesome to put this together:)
I AM STOKED!

Will you do this again next year? I came on board too late to be a part of the Memory Team Celebration this year.
So excited! I will be there with Emmy!
Am I to post a verse for today?
w
I am SO hoping I get to come!!!!! Thank you for leaving registration open until two weeks prior!
I'm praying God will provide a way for this siesta to come celebrate!!
Love y'all!
Woo hoo I am so excited and have had my hotel booked since it was announced last June!!! See you in January.
Thank you for continuing to challenge us to excellence--mediocrity just won't do! I am amazed (although it should be a no-brainer) at how the Holy Spirit enables our minds to absorb the Word. I can normally memorize the words of a song fairly easily, but scripture was just different. Well, God definitely blesses us when we are acting in obedience to Him by hiding His Word in our hearts, sharpening our swords. May our faith continue to be strengthened as we fight this battle!
love,
Audrey
Ridiculously excited!!
I don't believe I personally know a soul who will be there, but I am THRILLED that I will get to meet you all and get to know the personalities behind these screen names.

I can hardly contain my joy at the thought of sharing time with you, Beth, with the team and with so many siestas who love the Lord.
Thank you for leading us on this incredible journey of faith and light, and for spurring us on to equip ourselves with the Sword of the Spirit.
I'm encouraged to make this my practice from now on, declining brain cells and all. The reward is so great!

Woohoo! I will be there! I can't wait! Not even a Martina McBride concert in Arkansas will keep me from coming to Houston in January! I've been looking forward to this ever since you announced it. Thank you!
It's official, I'm coming in January! Yahoo! I think I might cry.
I will be there in spirit! Ohio to Texas is quite a trip, otherwise I wouls be there in a heartbeat. What a reason to celebrate, scripture writen on the hearts of hundreds of women!!!!!
Have a great time Siesta's ya'll deserve this party.
Help pray me there, siestas. It's going to take a miracle and I am trusting for it. This scripture memory has been LIFE CHANGING for me and there's nothing I would love more than to celebrate in Houston with all of you!
Have a great week, everyone!
Kelli
I will have 200 days sober the day I land in Houston and am pretty sure I would not be able to say that if not for Scripture Memorization.
Thank you so much!!!
I'll be there with bells on!

I am packing now :) OHmygosh girls....I can't wait to hug your necks and get my praise on!!!!
To "anonymous" who will hae 200 days sober,
CONGRATULATIONS! I will have one year of sobriety on November 12th. To be able to exchange putting something toxic and life-stealing into our bodies with putting something God-breathed and life-GIVING is a huge, life-changing, amazing blessing. What an incredible journey it has been to see those changes, day by day by day as I have fed on the word of God and been freed from the bondage of alcohol. That is why one of my favorite verses this year has been Psalm 118:5 "In my anguish, I cried to the Lord and he answered by setting me free." Did He ever!! :-) Rock on, Siesta. I hope our paths cross in January. I would love to meet you.
I am so excited!!!!! (as well as already being nervous about coming alone AND terrified I will get all my verses confused!)
Thanks, Sweet Beth and crew for doing this for us. I can't tell you how much memorizing scripture has meant to me. There were times when i felt so led to memorize something but didn't know why, but our Great God had a plan. Every time I have wondered about a scripture I have needed it later for myself or for someone else.
I can't wait to see you all in January!
Yvonne
I have my airline tickets and registration! So excited. Not only has God provided me the ability to memorize these scriptures and finish what I started, but He has provided the means for me to come to Houston!

Woo hoo! So excited! I already have my plane tickets! Yay!!!
By the way, I registered for the event but it cut my screen name off...I guess it is a mouthful. All that it would allow me to input was pathfromtheheadtothe
It is going to be such a blast to see so many Siestas who have been a part of this challenge!
Dear Beth, Thank you so much for SMT challenge! This is my first real attempt, as an adult, to memorize scripture. I felt the HS move me to accept and attempt this challenge. Praise God for my commitment to really try (an older brain is so hard to stretch) and for His commitment for memory help and for your encouragement and enthusiasm. Memorization has been very difficult for me, but with the Holy Spirit's help, when a scripture memory verse comes to mind I am awed. I am excited for the celebration. My BD is in January, so this is my present. I was able to get my ticket last week with SW Airlines special fare deal!
I also gave my Bible Study gals spiral notebooks this fall as we started "A Woman's Heart".

Everything seemed to fall apart in October-by the time I got around to posting the first one, it was time for the second and neither got posted. I was so discouraged because I thought I had to get all 24 verses recorded. But then I thought, well even if I don't make all 24 verses, just start in November again and praise God for what I had done. (Because that's what ultimately matters) Then I saw that I only need 20 verse registered!!! Thank you thank you!! I still don't know if I can make it there-it is the weekend of my youngest son's birthday(11)-lots of maternal conflict here. I just don't think I can miss that-he's my youngest and with two in college I know how quickly time passes. Oh well, to know that I could go is the best. I just don't like the thought of missing both Beth and Travis!! I need to register my verse for today-I picked it out last week. I wanted to get back on the wagon so to speak.

We are so excited!!! We made our plane and hotel reservations early this summer!!! Two of us from Rhode Island and one from Massachusetts. Imagine, three East Coast girls on a trip to Texas!! Allright, we are Women but this trip is making us feel like girls again! What an awesome year this has been. I can't express how much this scripture memorization has drawn me closer to the Lord. Thank you for making us accountable and Praise God for giving us His Word! See you in January. (I have to give my husband a little praise too as this event is on his birthday and he generously made all the travel arrangements for the girls and I to attend. How great is he!!!)
Beth,
I have already commented once but I want you to know I am convinced that this is one of the most powerful things a Christian can do. I have never been one to memorize scripture like this, even as a kid. One of my personal goals for next year is to get our church family into memorizing scriptures for 2010. I, of course, am hoping we continue doing this as siestas. I have read through every scripture posted this year and have a word document that is 20 pages long with verses I want to learn. Should keep me busy for the rest of my life!!! This is definitely a discipline I will continue. Thank you so much for your leading us and challenging us to new heights in our walk. Just a year ago, I could have walked away from my faith. I sing praises to God for not giving up on this vessel!
Can't wait. I too will see you in December and then again in January!! I am exstatic!
Jan Witt
I have to come!! Even if it's by myself! This has been too impactful on my life to not be there with all of you, just luxuriating in what GOD does for His children when they really look at Him. I've known Jesus almost all my life, but this is the first time I've really memorized scripture and had success at it. IT HAS BEEN LIFE-CHANGING. Thank-you Beth and LPM for spurring us on in this!! I, too, hope you'll ask for my post on Jan 1!
Hug yourself,
Megan S.--Kansas City, KS
I don't think I can come this time, my baby girl is due on Jan 30th:) It's okay, not meant to be for me this year (this is what I'm telling myself)the Lord's timing is perfect:) I'm praying that ya'll have an absolute blast!! Good times, God times to ya'll, Yay LORD, yay Siestas!:)

I am so excited that I will be able to attend this. I will be traveling by plane and am praying that the weather does not interfere.
I am bringing my precious husband with me and do some visiting while there with his extended family that I have never met before and we have been married for 27 years.
I am so thankful that I have memorized all my verses, I was never able to do that before. There is no stopping now.
See you in January!
Can't wait to meet you all.

Thrilled!
The only problem I ran into on the online registration is that it does not like my Canadian postal code. It really wants to me provide 5 numbers rather than our alternating letter/numbers...
I will try again on Tuesday morning and see if the system likes my postal code a little better. :)

I have just registerd both me and my daughter, Dailey Rae. I am singing and rejoicing to the Lord.
Beth, Amanda and the entier LPM team, This exercise over the year has not only brought me closer to our precious Lord but it has also brought me closer to my daughter. To see the excitment of an 8 year old over scripture has been truly life changing for both of us. YOUR WORK HERE has laid the foundation for what I pray to be the start of the creation of a MIGHTY WOMAN OF GOD AND SCRIPTURE. (I did not know how I was going to pay for this but kept praying and praying and received an unexpected bonus at work in June. Woohoo! God is so good!)
Dailey Rae and I are SOOOO EXCITED about coming to Houston!
hugs and kisses to all of you!

Can't wait - Beth, Melissa & Amanda - what can we be praying over as y'all prepare for the event?
So, if I fell off the wagon for a few months can I go back and pick it up by entering my memory verses on all the old posts?
Hi ladies! If you have a question that wasn't answered on the FAQ page or if you're having trouble registering, you can email my co-worker Jennifer at jhamm@lproof.org. Shannon, as far as prayer goes, please pray that the planning of the event is very smooth and that the weekend will bless our Siestas and our God. Thanks and have a great Monday!
Michele, will you email me at blog@lproof.org?
I did not do this but am so excited for those of you who did. Have a great time and keep up the good work.

registered. Already bought plane tickets. And staying with a local Houston siesta that I've never met except through the blog.
you'll love this Beth - my hubby bought me the plane tickets as my birthday present. He knew that was what I wanted most in the world.

This has blessed my heart and my life and my walk with Jesus so much. I intend to keep it up. The accountablity was wonderful, but I intend to do it on my own. I will not be able to make it to Houston, but will be praying for all of you when you meet. It will be a blessed time. Thank you for doing this Beth. Heard your former pastor this week end at our church. He blessed us last night. Blessings on your life and your ministry.

Praise God for the Power in His WORD! And praise Him for the way it is changing peoples lives!
God is sooooo good and I am so excited. I will be there in January and am registered. My friend and I have had our hotel reservations since last spring.
Oh Beth, please do it again next year. It has been an awesome journey in God's Word and with you. I continually tell my Bible study class to get those scriptures cards and memorize, memorize. When we begin in January, I'm not going to tell them, I will give them their spiral notecards along with this challenge.
Thank you so much Beth, Amanda, Melissa and LPM. You all are the greatest!
I am sooo excited!! I can't wait! What a thrill it will be to join together with so many women that have the power of the Word of Life written on their hearts! Wahoo!
I'm wondering if anyone from the Montgomery, Alabama surrounding area is planning on attending?? I have made reservations at a hotel near the church already but am interested in sharing expenses with another siesta! Anyone game?
Oh!! I wish I could go!!!!!
I guess a baby on the way (4 weeks to go, we are SO excited!) and living in Cananda, makes it impossible for me!
BUT I will be there in prayer!
Praise the Lord!

I don't know where I should be sending this note but I will start here. I have a wristband and lunch ticket for the Deeper Still Event in Oklahoma in Dec. 4&5.
Is there any siesta that would like to go? I will gladly mail it to you. A girlfriend had something come up and now can not go and asked that someone be blessed with her wristband.
Siesta Moore Women,if you think there is a better avenue in doing this let me know. Such as hawkin a give away ticket on the street when I arrive in December? You can't get arrested if your hawkin' something for free can you? :)

I really, really want to be there but I don't think right now that it is going to work. It is my busy season at work and I can't take vacation and I have to work until 5! Ahhhhhhhh! I wish it was on Saturday only, but I totally understand, I am just disapointed. Who knows maybe something will work out. I will be praying!! It sounds like so much fun and I would love to see all the girls who have been working so hard and doing such a good thing. Okay, I am not going to worry about, I am just going to let God work it out!

Like many others, I have been SO blessed by this! Most of my memory verses were short, but has God used them to speak to me many times over this past year!! I would LOVE to be there in January and am trusting in the Lord for a miracle so I can be....the flight from PA to Houston is around $320 right now and just more than I can afford! But nothing is impossible with God!!!!!!
I'm still hoping this might work out- the AF has delayed our departure from the States to March. We will have just packed our things and will be living out of suitcases for 4 months...praying I'll be able to sneak in under the deadline!
Praise God frequent flyer miles for business earned me a free ticket to Houston, but am struggling with the expense of both hotel and rental car. (It's been a hard year in our household, like many others.)
If anyone is willing to share a room/ride, please email me at faranh@gmail.com. I'm hopeful one way or another God will provide a way. I'd so love to celebrate with my siestas! This has been a tremendous exercise of faith and discipline.

Hi Webmaster - I hope you get this Tues Nov 3 - please pass onto Siesta Mama that I am so jouful to be a Siesta - will be joining for the Jan celebration.
Today - God willing, I'll be visiting the Tues night study in Houston! I'm traveling for business in your fine city, and last night driving to the hotel God reminded me about the study, and I'm so very excited!! please let Siesta Mama know that learning from what God has given her and drinking in that Living Water is the greatest joy, and for those times she feels attacked or not sufficient, rest assured that God takes her precious offering of few loaves and fish and multiplies it thousand -fold to feed His sheep! Blessings to y'all, I'll be the Siesta in a pink sweater set hopping up and down from excitement tonight!

I so want to be there. I'm praying to Christ for discernment and guidance. I have in-laws that live only about 15-20 minutes from the church. Not sure about the time away from the family...
Please pray for me! At any rate, I have been so blessed by being involved with all my siesta this past year and blessed by the scriptures. Twice in the past 5 months, one of the pastors has spoken my chosen scripture in their sermons. I know Christ Jesus is working in me.
Blessing to Siesta Mama and my all my siestas!

I'm so excited I can hardly wait. The Lord's path for me has been different than I expected this year and I'm clinging to my verses. Thank you so much for doing this or I'm not sure I would've been as faithful in planting His Word in my heart which is getting me through our family's loss. I won't know a soul there personally but I still can't wait to see you all.
Bridget - I think that is so cool that you are going to get to go to Tuesday night Bible Study! You lucky girl!
Hope you are blessed and have a blast.

I so want to be there and praying that God will make a way. I think my scripture for this period fits. Matthew 17:21
Hope to see you all in January!
I didn't know anything about Siestaville until a few months ago....I'm so sad cuz I'd love to come to the event but I didn't know the importance of sharing the scripture you were memorizing...BooHoo...maybe there will be another Scripture Memory Event next year? Hint,Hint ..Siesta Mary from MN.
I am so excited.... I am praying that I will be able to go. I don't have the "go ahead" from my husband yet, but might if I get someone to drive with, or that I can pick up on the way down from WI!!!!
Praying that God will show me if I am to go or not. I'm ok with waiting till the very end. I got to go to the Green Bay LPL with one day notice, so I know that God can do anything! :)
Hope that everyone who is called to be there will be able to make it, and that God will rock that place! :)
God bless,

Sounds a great event :) I started following this blog a bit too late to catch up (plus I live in the UK!) but I pray it'll be a blessing for all of you who've worked so hard!!
Strangely, it seems that a lot of my posts don't end up showing up on the blog. Not sure what's wrong - wondering if they are coming through to you or not.
I hope to join you but am feeling a bit guilty. I meet the requirements (at least I will by the end of the year) but I feel like I should have done soooo much better with the memorization!
Hope to see you in January! Thank you for putting this on!

I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so...scared.
Well, not really scared at all, but I fel the need to finish that like Jessie would on Saved by the Bell.
Ladies...thanks for your effort this year to provide an avenue for accountability. I have never memorized Scripture before, but God has done a mighty work in me this year through these cards. I was so excited to start on Feb.1 that I did not buy a spiral but dug out index cards, punched holes, attached a ring and started writing. All year I stuck them in my back jeans pocket every time I walked our dog. That walk time alone has made it possible for me to memorize any verse God gave me (plus Beth's hints were a great help). Thanks so much for the challenge. I'm sure more than one of my neighbors has wondered why I'm always talking to my little dog while we walk!
I would love to be there in Houston....could think of no where else I'd rather be. I'm waiting on God to make a way. Our finances are tight right now and Texas seems along way from PA. Love to all of you and blessings on the SSMT Celebration.
Love all you siestas like crazy,

In case any of you are wondering whether you should come alone...do! I've gone a few times to conferences without knowing anyone (at first ; ) and it is a wonderful, powerful time with God.
So, I just moved from Colorado to Borger, TX. the Texas Panhandle! Me, an Alaska girl (moved to CO from AK two years ago.) Feeling a little mountain deprived right now, but very excited to see what God has planned for us here in TX. So, now I am even closer to the SMT celebration and plan to be there. Plus my brother is in Houston now, so I will get to see he and his family!! YAY!!

I thought starting my year last with this scripture memory was so perfect and exactly what God had in mind for me - i have used it over and over as He reminds me to not only read and study His word-- but to hide it in my heart -as i did when i was a child. The thought of starting next year surrounded by you girls and so many women who desire God so deeply gives me goosebumps already! Thank you for the accountablilty you have given and for the blessing you are plannig-- may you be blessed in the process - love you and can't wait 'till Jan!!
