Jackson's Nativity Scene

I was asked to send a single sock to Mother's Day Out with Jackson yesterday. I thought y'all might like to see the outcome of that special craft.

Also, thank you so much for your participation in the survey. We will be hard at work on those comments for the next week. We do not take your willingness to be honest and vulnerable lightly! God bless each one of you!

And now the slightly anal retentive me is thinking Jesus needs a twin. Because the creativity with JUST ONE sock would kill me.

It sure is cute though. Maybe I can do with Connor AND Natalie. Then we'd have a pair.

(By the way, my spam moderation word right now is "bumler." What an awesome word. "I spilled my coffee on the way to work, stepped in a puddle and forget my wallet. What a bumler!")

Rats, I missed the survey. Sigh. Looking forward to seeing if anyone else agrees with my view. Good question btw. Personally, I think security or lack there of is a huge motivator for women.

Loved the baby Jesus. What a great idea. :o) Jackson did a very good job.

Thanks for sharing your little man's brilliance with us.

So precious! Love it!

I know you don't take our comments lightly and I don't take your time and commitment to service lightly either.

I anxiously await a Word on this apparently significant burden for so many women.

"...dear friends, we are confident of better things in your case - things that accompany salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised." Heb. 6:9-12

My kids are grown, but we still put their little ceramic nativity scenes they made in elementary school, out. It's funny becaue one of Jesus' hands fell off and I say "It's the hand of God."

This will be a very fun Christmas for Jackson!

Beth, I just have to tell you - I simply adore how you have offered your life so that "[His] kingdom come and [His] will be done on earth as it in heaven." So I was just thinking to myself how cool it is that I could post something here and you would actually read it! But instantly the Lord spoke into my heart that it's the same with Him! My desire in this chapter of my life has been to know him at the most intimate level, and while I've always known that He hears my prayers, He has reminded me that He HEARS my prayers. He is my up close, personal, in my face, God. Whew! Hallelujah!

How sweet..precious...the best nativity by far. And mother's day out for you..awesome momma.

I want to ask for prayers for a special momma...with cancer. http://thecomfyplace.blogspot.com/

Jen. and as of yet, not believing in God. Her grace and love for her family, and her leaning toward questions of afterlife and God will touch you. I just thought, the power of prayers of the Siesta's...what would God do we we all prayed for her and loved on her? What could He do with that.

Whispering prayers through tears....

What a super cute idea! I don't think you will mind for using the idea...I think when we bake Jesus' Birthday Cake I will make these with my 3 and 4 yr. old boys...our daughter is only 4 mo. but her brothers can make one for her! (We have lots of socks with no match...great way to use them) I did not get my comment posted in time for the previous entry...I did read them though...and I can honestly say many of the entries echoes mine! I'm saddened yet somewhat relieved to know there are so many of us with the same struggles...no matter how alone Satan wants us to feel we are not! I will say I have had much freedom in these areas over the past 1 1/2 years after I fully came to know, yet not understand, how much God loves me...he is "quite taken with me", as he is all of us! Thanks you Beth for yielding to the spirit and addressing such issues!
Love to all!

I also missed the survey, and just have to say that I cannot read these without crying. Not that I have it all together by a long shot: I've got some considerable baggage of my own. Hilarious! Just curious . . . my son also goes to Mom's Day Out and is always bringing home the cutest crafts. How do you decide what to keep and what to toss? Just last week I tossed out a sequin studded Goliath and a finely crafted baby Moses complete with basket. I didn't feel so bad about Goliath (he was a bully anyway), but the baby Moses thing brought on a little guilt :-)

reading through the responses to the survey would be so depressing were it not for the fact that we are all being transformed by Christ. He is not done with us! i didn't reply to it, because i couldn't quite put my finger on what to say. then i read a response that sounded exactly like me. then others that sounded exactly like friends. we are all so alike, and yet one of the main causes of insecurity listed was other women. i'm going to make a point this next week to be an encouragement to the women in my life, even if they don't come across as insecure. thanks for such an enlightening survey.

I love that a Sock Baby Jesus is way cuter than a Sock Monkey!!

I missed out on the insecurity post. Hate that. I would have loved to have my darlin' that just started junior high and my darlin' 19-year old college student answer those questions.

Can I say one other thing about this? It made me cry...those comments, I mean. I get it and can soooo relate to so many of the comments. And as a woman in leadership with fourteen female staff members and one lone male, I see this playout EVERY day...and it's made me think about my role in that...I feel my own blog thoughts coming. Wow. BIG WOW- I need to be allowing Him to use me for their edification and encouragement. Thank you, Beth, for caring that we are so afraid of being who He knows we are. Are we just not believing Him on this on? Can't wait to see what you are going to do with this!

This is not entirely about the Nativity Scene but I wanted one of you to read this. You don't have to post this comment here but feel free to use it elsewhere if you would like to. Anyway - I didn't get a chance to read the suvey until comments were closed. However, I wanted to say thank you for it. At first I didn't want to read the comments because I was afraid that I might see myself in someone else. They I read them hoping I would. Around comment 300-ish, I did. At first I cried for a while because I totally understood how she felt and it really stinks! Then I found myself crying with relief - relief that even though we feel alone in this, we really aren't. Because feeling like you are alone is worse than just about anything. So thank you for reminding us (well, at least me) that no matter how bad or alone we may feel, we really aren't floundering out there misunderstood. If we only had the bravery to just open ourselves up and be vulnerable, Jesus could do such a great work!

And by the way - I am a teacher and the only use I have for children's socks in my classroom is as erasers for dry erase boards. The Nativity scene is MUCH cuter!

When my daughter was in preschool they made a Nativity using paper dolls glued to cardboard tubes. And there, in the center cradled in His own cardboard paper towel manger, was baby Jesus. He was a peanut with a small piece of material wrapped around him - held in place by a string.
What was most precious - and still makes us laugh almost 8 years later - was how she would say "Baby Jesus is a PEAnut" (heavy emphasis on that first syllable).

Love the craft. Can I just say that I spent all weekend thinking about the responses that I read in the survey. Wow.. what a stronghold Satan thinks He has on us in the area of insecurities. Just made me stinking mad at satan.. ready to go on a throw God's word at him rampage. I'm going to search my heart for the insecurity strongholds I have, and pray for all us Sieastas to be set free INDEED

I know that the comment forum for the survey is closed. However I am amazed at the results. It is as if we are all dealing with SAME issues...
Have you ever heard the comment (when someone is speaking of an affair), "Same lie, different players..."? When someone is describing an affair, it sounds like the same lies... just different people involved...

It is as if we are all hearing the same lies of insecurity at some level. VERY INTERESTING... and very freeing.

If we could all have a sign that our fellow sisters in Christ could see as we passed by them... and that sign could reflect that particular moment's insecurity, we would all be more secure that we are ALL INSECURE. =) Clearly, we all have believed a lie.

I am reminded of my handful of reminders (given by Mama Moore...) BLESSED, CHOSEN, ADOPTED, REDEEMED, LOVED...

(After re-reading this, I am sensing that I should probably be insecure about sharing my personal thoughts... LOL!)

He is like babe you are hormonal or something...I don't care how much it cost just run to Lifeway and get another workbook. LOL but he is serious.
Thank you all for the time that you have put into this. I can't thank God enough. I am starting the workbook over in January so I can get more of the whole Megillah!!

Also, I get so beside myself about these studies. When I got my hands on the audio in New Orleans...I blew up my husbands phone to tell him I was so excited. He called me back and said babe what in the world? I have been with customers. I said Rod I have something real important to tell you!! I got the Esther cds. He was like well, I am excited for you...I guess I should have called a friend...ha ha!!

Missed the survey too. Too busy with our church's Living Nativity. Believe me, I could talk a lot about insecurity, but I know where I find my security now!
Love to all!

Love that baby Jesus! I say remove the baby Jesus in your current nativity and put that baby right in there! I am sure YOUR baby would love that!!!! =)

...I have to say I am AMAZED by the insecurity survey. We are all buying into the same lie. I mean, many of those answers could have been MINE. It motivates me to encourage my sisters in Christ and to encourage myself by soaking in the Word to find my True Security.

Thank you for this blog.
Thank you for using your gift to the fullest. I am expectant to read more from you on this survey. It has clearly pierced the hearts of many!!!

Too Sweet - By the way, I love how you and your man are teaching your son to Know God early on! You are amazing parents.
Bless you, Vicki
