I have a group of approximately 20 that has been meeting at our house for several years. We have done all but one of Beth's studies, some of them twice, but in between times when she doesn't have a new one for us, we do other studies, for example, E. W. Kenyon's studies, Ann Graham Lotz studies and tonite we start Dutch Sheets' study ''Intercessory Prayer''.
We have a terrific worship time of about 45 minutes and then we sit and wait upon the Lord to speak, to heal or to do whatever He is wanting to do with us for that nite. It has become a wondrous time for us. After that we go into the study, just taking our time and discussing and applying God's Word. My husband and I were in San Antonio for the Siesta Fiesta...He was my Miesta Fiesta...we loved it. God impressed upon me during Beth's teaching, that I needed to come back home and start exploring ''The Inheritance'', which I have done. I'll be using it in my Sunday School class. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fiesta and it was great fun to listen to you, Amanda, Beth and Melissa. You are all simply ''part of us''
We love you.

--We are going to study Breaking Free again this fall. Believe it or not it was the first Beth Moore study I ever did...talk about a baptism by fire! That was in January of 2006...one month before my father died. God's timing has never been so evident. The deep sharing we did in that study group knit my friendships with those women and boy did they ever minister to me during those days. I am so looking forward to what the Lord will teach us this time.
--Beside the study I will sit outside as much as possible because I love Fall!

My husband and I are cutting out the unnecessary stuff from our lives and devoting more intentional quality time to our marriage and to God for the next few months. We will take hikes together and spend more time in the Word and prayer as a couple.

The women's bible study that I lead will be doing the "Daniel" bible study for the next 11 weeks.

The non-profit ministry that we just started will be leading a couples retreat and preparing for some women's retreats in the future.

Spending time with my son, my daughter and her husband!!

My oldest is a senior...(I need to lay down with a cold rag on my head. Hang on...)

My youngest just started AWANA. She's a third grader this year so she moved up to Truth and Training and is no longer a Spark. She thinks she's big time too ;-)

I signed on to teach AWANA Cubbies. Last night was our first night. We had a room full of high energy 3 and 4 year olds. This morning, I had to get the extreme caffeine coffee at my favorite shop just to function properly.

My sweet hubby will spend the early fall recovering from a major neck surgery. He feels so great and we are so happy about that.

And in my "spare time" I'm helping coach a group of 8 year old girls in softball.

I'm gonna need Starbucks to stay open later than it does if I'm gonna make these next few months...

Amanda, good luck with the potty training! Love you all!

The Young family is adjusting to an empty nest - daughter Jessica is a junior in college, just beginning the professional stage of nursing school, son Michael left the nest a couple of weeks ago to attend college - as yet undeclared (do they offer a degree in musically-inclined free spirit?). So, Amanda, even though you've heard this a thousand times, it goes by SO fast. Enjoy every minute. And stay friends with Curt, because before you know it, it will just be the two of you again - which is turning out not to be such a bad thing at our house! At church, we're starting Stepping Up in a couple of weeks. My hubby and I teach youth Sunday School -- after 20 years, God's created a revival in my heart which is full of genuine love and affection for junior high & high school girls - go figure! I'm always interested in Bible study ideas for them. Any thoughts?

The Wooten Family is:
-Potty Training Noah...what a day of rejoicing that will be when poop in the potty we see!
-Home Schooling Mary Beth...shooting for first grade by Christmas!
-Writing a Preschool Bible Curriculum...and making lots of decisions about our church's preschool/nursery facilities that incurred heavy damage from T.S. Fay.
-Trying to Sell our House (please pray--we have to get out from under this mortgage...it's just too tight with gas prices, etc., going up)
-Visiting Kentucky family at the beach (they rent each year for the month of September in Panama City)
-Selling Avon
and...oh, our latest news as of two hours ago...trying to drive home from lunch at our small town's Mexican restaurant, but finding ourselves in the middle of a crime scene a block from our house--Our home (normally in a safe family area downtown) is 1 block from the Federal Building/US Post office. As we were backing out of the street-side parking place, a K-9 cop whizzed past the backside of our car, and we could hear the sounds of multiple "sirens" converging on Downtown. We were 4 blocks from the post office and had to take a right at the post office intersection to get home. As we approached the post office intersection, I could see about 15 law enforcement vehicles and watched as deputies were running toward the area on foot from the nearby courthouse. It was surreal. Suddenly, I saw a man bolt from behind the K-9 vehicle that had originally whizzed past me, and about 20 officers took off behind him screaming like loonies. The suspect had run behind the post office and was headed into the block across the street from my house. As I got to the next corner, I could tell they had still not apprehended him, so I called our good friend Donna whose husband is a local cop and told her to turn on Gabe's police radio and let me know what was going on across the street from my house. She said he was at work, and I told her, "Nevermind then, he's probably chasing this guy, too--I don't think there are any on-duty officers in our city who aren't downtown right now."
Donna called me back a little while later...said Gabe was thrilled because he was the cop who got to jump on top of and apprehend the ARMED ROBBER!!!! in the block next to our house!
Sorry for the long narrative! I'm just praising Jesus right now that this wasn't transpiring an hour earlier while the real estate agent was showing our house! (Stuff like this is NOT normal in our area!)
WHEW!

Hey girl!

Trying to get used to new normals. I am homeschooling for the first time ever (through a charter school program) and my husband is deployed. Some days are so hard! But by God's grace we are making it!

Other than that, doing an Elizabeth George Bible study, hanging out with my young'uns, and trying like crazy to gab with grown-ups each day, too!

Praying the potty training is going well for you! I'm impressed...mine weren't even interested until after age 3!

Love,
Kristen

Sounds like very precious times with Jackson!

I have two teenage girls, a sophomore and a senior (yikes.) Our year is going to be pretty busy getting ready for college.

We are also in the midst of "potty training" a new puppy.

My husband and I look forward to our church's local Life-group. We meet twice a month for bible study and fellowship, and always lots of good food. The group is a mix of couples, singles, parents, grandparents, and couples without children, so we are continually learning from on another.

Leading 'Beloved Disciple' on Tuesday nights. Also, meet with a small group of 7 every other Wednesday for a time of sharing, being accountable, loving on each other, leaning on each other and determining if there is anyone outside our small group that needs help. If so, we plan it out and reach out. Our small group will be discussing the book 'The Shack' by William P. Young soon. My hub and I are grandparents to two beautiful boys (almost 3 years old and 14 months old)so quality time with our daughter and her family is high priority. They are in the potty training mode for the oldest now too. Blessings!

I am going to be part of a group studying "When Godly People do Ungodly Things" I am so excited to get back into a study. I will have some extra time on my hands now. My husband and I are considered "empty nesters" after 22 years. We sent our oldest daughter off to Mexico 3 wks ago to teach for a year and we took our twin daughters to college last Saturday. It has been a very emotional time for all of us but God is so good and has helped me through this and without him I don't know how I could have let them all go. Thanks for listening and it is so fun to hear about your family. It brings back many happy memories for me.

Hey Amanda,

I help facilitate a women's Bible study group that has been meeting for about 4 years. We have done many of your mom's studies and have just begun Stepping Up. We are all so excited about this one and decided to do this one while we wait for Esther!

Personally, I am traveling to Japan to visit with Keiko (who you met at Siesta Fiesta) and another Japanese friend that was also saved last year. I will attend church with them and we will all go to the 25th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland! Can't wait.

Keiko wanted me to let you know that should you ever feel lead to minister to the Japanese women, she would love to work for you translating the Bible study materials. Translating the written word is something that she currently does and has been trained in. They are in such need.

I have been praying for you (as per your request at Siesta Fiesta) and your family. You are all so special to me. Thank you for what you do.

Forever His,

- Going to Kiawah Island in October for our sweet niece Chrissy and her fiance' Zack's Wedding

- Our church begins (this weekend) "Take It To The Lord" a year long emphasis on prayer. Our small group studies, worship etc will focus on prayer for an entire year. Can't wait to see what blessings the Lord pours out on our congregation and beyond!

I am the one that you (Amanda)gave encouragement to on my blog when I posted that my first time leading a Bible Study everyone decided to quit or resume at a later time.

After I gave my "breaking free" testimony everyone cried and then happy tears and lots of hugs..however when it was their turn to do the homework and "break free" as well, it didn't fizzle...the fire extinguisher just put out the fire instantly.

I wrote about it on my blog since I am finally going to get to start over and do Breaking Free this fall.

A woman at my church has about ten ladies from different churches in her home and their study this time is Breaking Free.

So I get to start over and finish it this time. I told my friend that I would save my testimony for last this time..:-)

Hmmm…you really want to know?

Birthday week starts Sunday with both my boys (soon to be 6 and 3) birthdays a week apart. Fun every night of the week!

Personally – I’m in Romans right now.

Mission/Ministry - LOTS going on with outreach events, women's ministry, captial campaign, mentoring, evangelism efforts for Christian school and church....

But, ya know what really is throwing me for a loop this fall??

My sweet angel boy, Drew, started Kindergarten and all the mommy projects each week (e.g., make this, bring this, teddy bear project, shield project…ahhhh)! Non-stop.

Boy, I guess God is using it to let me know my ministry to my boys now in “real” school will mean removing myself from other ministries. Won’t be so quick to say, “yes,” when asked…ya know?

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for asking!
Here is what I will be doing this fall in Wasilla, Alaska!

In Oct. I will be facilitating "Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed" in my home with about 12 women.

Will also be starting up a new Woman's Ministry called Girlfriends Unlimited. It is an awesome resource for women. It kicks off in Nov. at our Woman's Retreat.

At home this month we have a daughter, RuthAnn who will be turning 18, then on the 22nd of Sept. she is off to United States Marine Corps Boot Camp. We are so proud of her.

I will be welcoming her brother home for 20 days, while he is on leave from the Marine Corps, before he goes to his Permanent Duty Station in Hawaii! ( I see at trip to Hawaii for me and my family in the near future!)
He recruited her last May while he was home on a ten day leave!

Also am going to go through a book chapter by chapter with my 16 year old son and his girlfriend called "Sex 180" by Chip Ingram and Tim Walker. Highly recommend this book to all parents of teens. It answers the questions of "Why do we wait?" Very good book!

Oh, and one more thing I will be doing is getting involved in my very own Govenor Sarah Palin's campaign for the VP race to the White House. I have never before gotten involved in politics in any way, but this time I am compelled to!

If you get a chance to meet her you will love her. Beth, if your reading this, she is just like us and a sister in Christ. You are BOTH my true inspiration because you are both the REAL DEAL...

So that's a little glimpse into what we will do this fall. I am so glad you asked Amanda, bless you as you get that potty training down! By the way, do you scrapbook?
I have always wanted to ask you that!

Love ya,
GayleAnn

-finishing a knitted scarf for 2 Christmases ago! :) been there?
-Treating my horses for mud mites, starting tonight! as that season is here!
-working with our base chapel to plan a trip (and TLC) for families of the deployed.

I am enjoying life alone these days, since my daughter started Kindergarten! I am doing the Believing God study with a good friend at a great church in Austin. I'm also getting back on my cleaning schedule that I wrote up in June. It hard to clean you house for no good reason! My husband started a new job as a Chaplain Resident. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments in the ministry here. I pray that this new phase in his/our lives proves profitable for the kingdom and excellent for our family.

Have a great Fall, y'all!

Wow -- lots more siestas out there these days!! Love it!

Hmmmm...this Fall:

1. Shifting my ministry focus from Women's Ministry to Children's Ministry -- a move that if you had told me I would make even just a year ago I would have said, "No way, Jose!" Teaching 2nd graders on Sunday mornings and 2nd grade Bible Drill/Children's Choir on Sunday nights. Lovin' every minute of it.

2. Trying to get my mojo back since school is back and I have my days to myself. If you think of me at all, pray for focus and a desire to just relish in the extra time to spend with Him but to also be a good mom, wife and homemaker.

3. Struggling with some extended family dysfunction and hatin' that my parents are in the line of fire right now.

4. Praying for some writing opportunities.

5. Taking A Woman's Heart (update) this Fall. Started it in the summer and didn't finish. Going at it again.

Thanks for asking!

Blessings,
Dori

I scanned some previous comments and must say I am sad I am finished homeschooling and now my children are 19 (son) and 21 (daughter - this month) years old. Sigh. But hey, I homeschooled them the whole way - so I am sending encouragement out to you with young'in's. :o) I also saw a lot of potty training going on out there....and yes! I also survived potty training!

I am TRYING to train my 11 month golden retriever to be a gentleman.

I am beginning a small home business. (This almost empty nest stuff should be left to the birds, if you ask me!) :o)

I feel like I should mention something spiritual...so in my devotions I just started reading "The Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer. (Forgot I had it and just found it when I moved a bookshelf.) Barely started and totally convicted.

God is calling me to follow him to NYC. I am moving, along with a group of people from my church in Michigan, to start a church in Manhattan. I have never lived anywhere else in my life. I am 50 years old...ugh...I just rented my house, I am trying to find a job, than the apartment. After a year and half of preparation and major crying, I am finally at a peaceful place. Leaving my family is SOOOO PAINFUL!!!!! I am leaving my four sons (all in their 20's..their men now, but still so hard)and my immediate family...42 in all. So many people do not get what following Jesus means and they just dont understand what I am doing. Jesus continues to bless me through this. Beth, your study Jesus One and Only, started this process. You talked about getting in the boat and going to the other side of the lake. You spoke about if your being called to follow Jesus make sure your in line with his will. You even spoke about Jim Cymbala and the Brooklyn Tabernacle. That was actually the beginning of this process of God working in my heart to leave and follow him. To God be the Glory to what he has in store for his children in Manhattan. I cant wait to see what he is going to do through our church.

Amanda,

I love how genuine you are... We all list our hundred things and you will read them, even with a toddler/preschooler running around. \

I think you are so wise to anticipate helpful routines for the time of the new baby. Then Jackson doesn't think your shaping his behavior is tied to the baby. It will be established before the baby even comes! Even if he regresses, it will still be easier than if you didn't anticipate those needs.

The schedules are full at the Patton household.
-home schooling four, ages 7-11. Michael, our oldest, is going to public school part time.
-football for two boys
-soccer and dance for the two girls
-group classes through friends and a coop we are a part of
-women's bible study
-couple's small group
-husband traveling weekly
-listing our home and possibly moving to property
-making time for the Lord, spouse, myself and friends. Supporting those who are weathering storms.
-Developing a deeper prayer life.

I look at this list and think how does all that get done with smiles on our faces and peace in our hearts? Only by His Grace. I want to embrace this season, not to bring business for business sake. But to walk out whatever He has called us to. My husband would say, "Are we sure He has called us to all of that?"

Well, this fall for me will be a little easier. My hubby laid down the law and said I needed to take a break from leading bible studies. While I love it, I could not shout a hardier amen. The first half of this year was very busy, with some hard things thrown in. So what will there be going on at our house. I have 2 in college full time at the college down the street. One homeschooling part time and in college part time. One home schooled completely. One daughter is coaching soccer and the youngest is on her team. Not to mention, youth group at our house on Fri., bible study on Wed. and Sunday (this one at my house0, various concerts my children will play in, my children have worship practice, and running our home. I don't know yet what study the women in our church are going to decided to do or who will lead it, but until then I am working through 2 devotionals, one by Beth and one by Cynthia Heald. My hubby is the pastor of our church so we also have all of his discipleships and teaching/ preaching responsibilities. Oh I almost forgot, we are getting a starbucks this fall and that will require several visits. :) We will be heading to Ca for the holidays and to celebrate my parents 50 anniversary. And one more thing I am in charge of all field trips and extra activities for our home school group. Ok I think that is it. Thanks for asking, Kim B. in Az

- Finishing my last semester before student teaching starts. About time!
- Week in Washington D.C in Oct. I'm excited!
- Finishing up a blanket I'm crocheting.
-Teaching youth on Wednesday and Sunday nights. :)
-Probably the thing I'm most excited about happening this fall is diving in to God's Word more. Lately I've been being thirsty for it more than I ever have been before. I'm so excited for my own personal study, but hope to start a group study sometime soon!

I am doing "Discerning the Voice of God" by Priscilla Shirer in our Women's bible study. Also I volunteer at my sons school and continue to go out to the local animal shelter every week and take pictures of all the animals for petfinder. I hope to fit in some scrapbooking also.

1. I've got some crape myrtles to plant somewhere in my yard.
2. Finishing up reading "Light From Heaven" by Jan Karon.
3. Keeping up with Molly and Pooh, our two dogs we rescued from the animal shelter. Pooh is actually a UFO! You should see him run full speed. My better half says he could catch a cat. But so far Socks the cat has stayed safe!
4. Enjoying the change in seasons. I would like to plant some tulips to tiptoe through but here in Dixie I usually wait until January.
5. Plans are open right now about Bible study. I think I may read through Jeremiah and take my sweet time.
Looking forward to fall.

Here is my fall plan:

-Start a new bible study next Monday at my new church that is 45 minutes away....prayers here please for safe travel especially as the fog begins to move in. The bible study is A Woman's Heart by none other than our Siesta Mama!
-Spend lots of time cuddling and visiting with my new niece Kensley (born at 3:47 this morning!!! Check out my blog and you can meet her too!)
-Write a million IEP's for my students and start the task of parent trainings in October (not totally looking forward to this but realize the importance of it for our parents)
-Anxiously await the release of Esther!
-Celebrate my 33 birthday in November (aughhhhhh!!!!)
-Awaiting the birth of my 3rd nephew Isaac due 9/11
-Praying for healing and forgiveness in my family as the holidays approach. Mom and her sisters and mother are on the outs right now and holidays are currently canceled....sad but God is big and can heal this! I am believing Him for total healing and restoration! Pray with me Siestas!!!

We are:
- Isaac and Janie in school. homework, fundraising etc.
- Isaac is taking Guitar lessons on Thursday nights at the church.
- Janie will begin Equestrian Training
- I am the PTA Treasurer,
- I am leading "Anointed, Transformed, and Redeemed" by Priscilla, Beth and Kay (I can hardly wait to start Sept. 18th) for Thursday night Bible Study at church (around 50 women - I pray)
- I also co-ordinate the Touch Team Ministry for our Guest Services Desk at church for 2nd service Sunday Mornings.
- My husband and I are doing a small group study of John 3:16 by Max Lucado with our home team.
- My husband...traveling, traveling, and more traveling with his job.

And much, much more. All the while, I decided after viewing a program with Beth on Life Today that I should read "Get out of that Pit" just in case I was in one and did not know it and guess what??? I WAS, AM, IN ONE!!!! Nothing as tramatic as many (God please help them) but none the less, in one. So...every morning God and I meet and I pray the prayers from the back of the book. All I have to say is WOW!!! God is so......good, great etc. Words cannot even begin to describe Him and the work He will do if we let Him. I have my husband reading it also. The jury is out whether or not he thinks he is in a pit but I would venture to say... YES!

We stay busy but we reserve the weekends for our family time. We play, and laugh and go out together. If all 4 of us can't go together we just don't do it.

*Starting Bible Study next week...Living Beyond Yourself
*Co-teaching 3-5 graders in Sunday School
*Seeing my favorite Bible teacher, aka Siesta Mama, in Billings MT in 15 days. Taking Miesta Moose and 7+ women from church.
*Finishing up (paint touch-ups, decorating etc) my new reading/Bible Study/Quiet Time space, which used to be my daughter's BR before she got married in May.

Enjoy Jackson and your pregnancy, dear Amanda. These times go so fast. I bet you're thinking you couldn't possibly love another child as much as you love little Jackson. It's so great how you don't actually divide the love between the kids, God gives you MORE!!!

I'm psyched. Our Women's Bible study starts up in a couple of weeks and I'm going to try to maintain 2 studies ('cause, frankly, I couldn't decide which one to do). The first is called The Essential 100 which will go through 50 select Bible passages from the OT and 50 from the new. Then, because I just couldn't resist, I also decided to join the group that's going through Beth's study of Daniel.

I'm also prayerfully considering leading the Moms In Touch group for my kids's school.

I just can't wait to see what God has in store in this new season.

Thanks for asking...

My plans are all up in the air. I was planning on doing a lot of work around the house etc etc but...

I broke my ankle Labor Day and I am really struggling with it. This is so silly because it is just a broken ankle and no big deal, rihgt? Well I am totally helpless it seems, I can't do anything and I am struggling!!!

Last night at church one of our older ladies was talking to me about what I had done and telling that sometimes we just have to set back and regroup. Not really seriously I replied why did God do this to me now? Well I got a lesson! God did not do this to me and I should just set back and ask Him what He wants me to do?

Tomorrow I go back to the dr and I am really am pryaing that I get one of those lovely ever so fashionable "space boots". Crutches and I are not getting along and I'm getting crankier and crankier!

A good patient I am not!

So maybe I am to take this time to set back and just talk to God about what I am to do.
