Thinking Pink and Seeking Prayer

*UPDATE*
Guess who has power? God does! And so does our office! Praise Him!

"God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good." (Gen. 1:3-4)

Yippee! It is good indeed! Thanks for praying, everyone. The staff will be back in action tomorrow.

Thanks for being excited with us! We are so surprised and thrilled to be having a baby girl. My first waking thought this morning was, "It's a girl!" Then I had to call mom and talk about it...again. You should have heard us carrying on when we had a minute to ourselves yesterday. I said, "Mom, we'll have dress-ups and purses and shoes and...oh mom...you've only begun to spend money!" We died laughing because it is just so true.

We all drove home from the ranch on Monday after hearing that my house had power. My parents spent the night with us since they did not have electricity until last night. Mom babysat Jackson while Curtis and I went to my OB appointment yesterday morning. After we got the fun news, we ran over to a nearby Macy's and bought these sweet things for Baby Girl.

We put them in a gift bag and when we got home we let my mom open them. That's how we told her what we were having. She totally freaked out. We sent a picture of the clothes to Melissa's cell phone and she called us bawling. My dad has this memory of Melissa and I wearing our dressy red coats when we were little girls and I told him we would be sure to find one for our princess. Curtis' whole family was rooting and believing God for a girl and they were thrilled. Curt said his dad was giddy and I know my sweet mother-in-law is excited to pay a visit to the pink side of our favorite baby boutique in her hometown (Jelly Beans in Springfield, MO). I had a blast calling my friends Sunni and Janelle, who both have little girls born within a month of Jackson. Knowing and loving their precious daughters makes me so excited about getting to have this experience, too!

It's pretty surreal that we actually got to have our doctor's appointment yesterday (and even shop at Macy's), given the state of this community after Ike. There are some areas in very bad shape. Gasoline, ice, and groceries have not been easy to acquire and a ton of people still do not have electricity. (Things are getting better in some areas.) Galveston residents are not even being allowed into their city right now. My understanding is that it is basically unlivable. There are so many things to pray for. One huge praise is that God sent a cold front this way and we have had MUCH cooler temperatures. We praise Him for His mercy! Houston is generally very unpleasant in September. Please pray for the great weather to continue and for God to meet the Greater Houston Area's electricity, gasoline, and food needs. Pray that the poor and those without homes to return to will be provided for abundantly. We know of some people who cannot locate loved ones who were living in Galveston before the storm. Please pray that they will be found safe and sound. Most of all, pray that God will use this situation to humble us and prime this city for spiritual awakening and revival.

We do have a couple of prayer needs directly related to LPM. Our office still does not have power, but we are eager to get back to serving! Will you all please ask God to restore our power, even today? Most of us got together for lunch today to fellowship and go over the game plan for the rest of the week. One of my co-workers was able to peek into her work email account and she already had 400 emails waiting for her. We all have lots to do! Will you also ask God to power up our ministry director's house? I believe she is the last one of us to lack electricity. Thank you so much, sisters!

Bethie will get on an airplane and head to Montana tomorrow. She will speak to some women at a prison on Thursday night and then have the Living Proof Live event on Friday and Saturday. I'm not sure if our prayer memo will go out to our prayer warriors this week, so I wanted to be sure to mention this prayer need to you, too.

May God bless each one of you today and may you have a keen awareness, as many of us in Houston do right now, of God's faithfulness to provide every single thing you need to live and breathe. He is always at work caring for us. We praise Him with you today.

Love,
Amanda

Amanda,
Congratulations as you await that sweet princess.

We continue to pray for the needs in the Houston/Galveston area. My daughter-in-law requested prayer at her Sunday night Bible study for power to be restored to her sister in Katy and within an hour, there was power restored.

Praying for all the needs you mentioned, including power restoration!

Love you,

Congratulations!!!

How wonderful!! I have one of each and it is truly so much fun! There are so many great girl names to choose from!

My husband and I both kept buying pink for our daughter until recently. She came into the kitchen, just out of the blue one night and read us a letter from a girl out of her "American Girl" magazine that basically said "Help...my favorite color is blue, but my parents keep buying me pink stuff." We got the point after that, but she is older now and we got to enjoy the pink days for a long time. We know she'll go back someday. She promised to let me plan her whole wedding (yes, we've been talking about this for years), so we'll see who goes back to pink (smile).
Much love and prayers to you all...

We mommas love our boys, but there is just something about a little girl that makes us giddy! Congrats!!

We are so looking forward to Beth being here in Billings in just TWO DAYS!!!! But what I am even more excited about is her speaking at the prison.

We had our Bible study last night and one of the ladies came in having just found out that her niece is in prison. This sweet gal so needs to know that even though men will fail you God will not. He loves her!!! Even if she does not get to hear Beth speak, just knowing that Beth will be there has brought comfort to our Bible study gal. Thank you Beth for being God's servant!

What a wonderful way to surprise your mom! I can just see her dropping her Starbucks cup and just squealing and dancing with joy!

Our son, wife, and little Jackson live in Houston and are unable to return to their home because there is no power. We are thankful for the cool weather because we were concerned that Jackson would be too hot and uncomfortable. We also have a brother & sister-in-law in Houston and they have a generator running. So, we are able to keep in touch.

Will continue to pray for all of Texas and for LPM.

Praise the LORD for new life that is also so much fun! I had a girl first then a boy and now another cutie pie boy at 2 months old tomorrow. You are about to be in stitches for the rest of your life b/c of all of their differences. Here is a couple quick stories that describe the differences between girls and boys: Emma was playing with her magic wand and Andrew was playing with a transformer. He came running at her sputting shooting sounds to which she quickly replied, "Bibbity Bobbity BOO!" over his head. Then one night as I sang Andrew to sleep, he said the word "cars" after every line. Later that same night Emma explained to me how cute she would look in that outfit we saw at the mall last spring, "Remember the one with the butterfly on the shirt and the green skirt and the hat. I would have to get some brown and pink shoes to go with...I think it would look cute on me." Everyday something happens like that! It is so stinkin' fun! Love Sarah in MO

Amanda,
I'm so excited for you and Curtis-Jackson will be an awesome big brother! Little girls are so fun. You and Bibby can have a great time shopping and playing dress-up with her, and Daddy can take her on "Daddy date-nights" for the two of them until his gun is cleaned and ready for the guys to take her out!!

We drove to Houston this morning to help Wayne's 84 yr old Mom in her yard. She has power and is very blessed to have no house damage, but had a couple of trees down and the pool had 6 large garbage bags of leaves and branches in it. We got that all taken care of and ready for her yard man to do his magic!! We noticed 6 or 8 large poles down with transformers on them on 290 this afternoon that were being worked on, so hopefully things will be up and running again very soon. I'll keep LPM in my prayers for sure, power and enough time in a day to go through those 400 e-mails! Blessings for the lady that does that!

Have fun decorating the princess' nursery-what a blast that will be.

Tears come to my eyes as I picture Beth in a prison. Probably not her first, but it is my first thought of her allowing Jesus to minister through her there. I will be praying for tender hearts and manifestations of the gifts there.

We all need more, but some of us are lucky enough to be at the dry places to realize it. I pray the flood gates open and a movement of Christ's redemption becomes the MO of that prison.

I had no idea that you were speaking in a prison this weekend. I guess I missed that somewhere on here. I just read it on some of the posts. I just want to say God Bless You!!!

I will pray extra hard for you this weekend and those precious mothers, daughters, sisters. When I see someone in prison or without Christ, I just think "that is someone's little girl or boy" and my stomach sinks in. I know they are in a lot of pain. This old world can be so hard and heartbreaking at times and I can't wait to hear what good comes out of this that God has planned. After hearing the Holy Sprit speak through you, there will be more souls coming into Heaven. Good for you, Beth...I think it's wonderful, to say the least.

Congratulations on your baby girl!

Can you believe that Ike hit Western Kentucky with hurricane category 1 wind speeds Sunday morning? Hundreds of thousands have been without power and thousands without water. Many here may not have power restored until Sunday. Trees, limbs, and shingles lie everywhere. Tons of food spoiled. The local Walmart was dark for days. In 2008, we've had a devastating tornado, an earthquake, and now we've even shared in hurricane force winds. Our winds were 73 mph--just a fraction of yours. Congratulations!! Woohoo...a baby girl!! I LOOOOVED buying clothes (especially pink) for my nieces when they were little. Even now I have a strong impulse to stop dead in my tracks at the little girls' section at any department store and buy something! I LOVE little boys as much as little girls, but the clothes to choose from are wayyyy better for girls than boys. Don't you agree?
Well tell Curt congratulations and that we are SO excited for ALL of you! I hope Little Miss will have some hair soon after she's born because Bethie will be wanting to tease it and put a bow in it right away...LOL!

Thanks for the specifics on how we can pray for everyone there!

Amanda,
I am so excited for you all! I commented on your mom's post but had to say a special congrats to you. I have two girls and had so much fun with them. And what is so funny is that as soon as I read the post from your mom talking about pink I thought "MACY'S!!!" - yippee!! Those are just the first of a bajillion adorable little princess frocks she will have! And like I said in response to Bibby - THE BOWS!! OH THE BOWS!!!

I also want to say that I am so grateful to our great and glorious God for sparing so many and sending better weather. My dearest friend is still without power, but she, her family, and her home are safe. Thank You, Father!

Amanda,

As I read your post, I couldn't help but be blessed by your humility. Even in such an exciting time of your life, when you are consumed with everything pink, you are still so mindful of the needs around you. Thank you for the sweet and humble reminder to pray for those in need and to thank God for the provisions He gives us.

We have been and will continue to be praying for the Greater Houston area, LPM's electricity, and Sabrina's too!

PS. Congratulations again on a little girl- And thanks for sharing with us the details of how you told your Mom! What a great idea!!!

Please do the same for me...we are in a constant battle with infertility and so desire to have a baby. I know that it is all in God's timing, but please pray that I continue to wait for the His timing and His plan.

Yes, the whole area hit in TX is in our prayers here. I will add Sabrina to my journal of prayers.

I live the life of girls thru my friends who have them. There are 4 boys here in my house and the woman power of me and our dog. All my laundry loads are darks, well, except the socks, maybe I should go darks there too and never have to change my washer setting. Um.

Amanda, girls are such a delight. My daughter is such a joy, and such a daddy's girl, I mean, princess. Congrats!

Please remember those of us in East Texas as well. There are still many without power throughout eastern Texas. Pray that we, as a community, and as a state, would step up to help those in need, in any and all capacities. There are so many needs, and God has equipped us to share His love and hope in just such times.

Lord we praise You for lovely baby visions of pink
You truly amaze us beyond what we think
We praise You Lord for weather that is cool
And pray Your favor & blessing on each restoration person & tool
Many are without power
Lord, we ask, restore this very hour
In the devastion, ruin, and those just thinking of survival
Lord, pour out humility, awakening and revival
Pour out Your anointing as Beth speaks in a prison
Give those inmates hope of You in a glorious vision
At the the conference, speak a timely Word
Through Your servant, Beth, be heard
Yes Lord, a timely Word
Be heard
We lift up Your Name, for You alone are to be praised

My husband is in your Area... about an hour south actually! He is working in League City and Baytown areas right now. I talked to him on the phone this morning and He said that it is bad in those areas. Much of Baytown cannot even be addressed by Verizon to restore phone service there because they are without all utilities...

I'm praying double for all of you there and so grateful that my husband is able to use his job skills and patient nature to help those most affected by this terrific storm damage. It is hard for me to imagine.

It looks like he might be down there for months working to help with the recovery of the phone utilities. We are both praying for you all and grateful to God that many were spared through evacuation. We are blessed and honored to stand with you through this difficult time.

May God bless all the greater Houston and Gulf Coast area as He reveals Himself in the repairs, the recovery and the workers who come to serve.

After two boys - God blessed us with a little girl - Lily. Oh, I was so excited when they told me - with that goop wiped all over my enourmously protruding mid-sectiton, "It's a girl!"

"Are you sure? Really sure? You mean I can start buying pink?" I replied with nothing but PURE JOY oozing out of every pore in me.

Now she's eight and she's a gymnast and she loves dogs and she loves Jesus (I should have listed Him first - yikes!) and we have pink, purple, yellow and green flowered wallpaper on the walls of her room.

God is SO good and I'm so happy for you!

It made my day to hear your "girl" news. Blessed be our God and our provider of this precious little girl. After two boys, our third was a surprise girl. Life has never been the same around our house with pink, purple, and bows galore. Big brothers and her daddy adore her.

With congratulations and love!!!

Amanda be prepared, because little boys are very gentle, soft hearted, sensitive, especially first born boys, but second born little girls are stubborn, fierce and have a mind of their own. And you will love both personality traits in each one and learn to go with the flow. Our first born was also a boy and 4.5 years later we had a beautiful baby girl. She continues to control our world, with her sweet smile that could melt a million candles, and she is still stubborn enough that nobody walks over her. She stands up for herself beautifully and her brother is still sensitive and kindhearted. But we love them both equally, they each have us wrapped around our fingers in different ways, especially my daughter and her daddy. So be prepared, have fun, don't sweat the small stuff and love every waking moment of it.

HOW exciting! I have three girls! I am just thrilled for you.

My heart goes out to you all given the current circumstances. After Gustav, we were without power for just over a week (just outside Baton Rouge). I am with you....may God prepare Houston and the surrounding area for revival!

I know how excited you are. Our 3rd child was our precious baby girl, who is now 23 and married. I was so excited to have a little girl then, and still am now. She is our Amanda ( Amanda Rachelle Eades. She says she is the new improved Amanda Eades because she is now Amanda Turner.). It is a great name, don't you think!

Delighted for you!

Congratulations Amanda and family!

Siestas ---- pray that the post storm fatigue will move on . . . lots to do to repair the damage to our home and we are helping the community by accepting patients at the hospital where I am the acting CNO and trying to staff to take care of the overflow is a bit of a nightmare and most taxing (inclusive n that are 12-14 hour work days) ---- have no idea where Ike took my brain and energy ----

God is abounding in mercy, grace, and power ---- and I need some of it!

What a beautiful gift electricity is after 8 days without it. The dark house was not that bad until the humidity came back yesterday but God have the grace for sleep in spite of it being a bit damp and no breeze!!!!

Thank you for your continued prayers. What an adventure this past week plus has been.

Hello Moores, Joneses and Fitzpatricks -

Congrats on ALL the good news!

I am curious ... what are your thoughts on encouraging young working moms? During this recession, more and more of my friends have been forced back into full-time work while raising little ones. I, myself, have a two-year-old child and was hoping to have #2 very soon, but I have now returned to full-time work since my husband was laid off from his job.

I don't mind working, but as you know there are many in the church community who feel strongly that a "godly" woman ought to stay at home with her children exclusively. Some hurtful words have been thrown my way to this effect.

Just curious what your feelings are on this. Feeling confused and looking for some encouragement! Thanks and God bless,

Kim in Buffalo

Congratulations to the Joneses and the Moores on your new precious gift to come! I could just see Beth planning out the hairstyles (hold back on the hairspray and back combing, ha, ha). It's always wonderful to get such great news in the midst of devastating events.

I'm writing from Southwest Florida and just wanted to let you know that we have been praying for all of you. Our Christian radio here, WAY-FM has partnered with Convoy of Hope and last week they had a Diaper Drive for those in need in Texas. It was outrageous the outpouring of love from the listeners with their response. I had an up-close and personal experience because I went to the warehouse where the diapers and wipes were being collected and I just was floored. It was beautiful. My sister is the sponsor of the Christian Club in her school and I wish you could have seen how happy they were to contribute. The Club is called Wired located at Oasis Middle School, Cape Coral, FL. They made a sign that said, "Wired @ Oasis Middle is sure the Texas is in GOD'S hands".

Praise the LORD!

I have a boy and then a girl and it's super fun to dive head first into pink! Just know that by April, there's a CHANCE you'll be wanting to throw a little bit more yellow and purple on her for a change of pace. But those first two months? Yeah, pink city. Congratulations!! Wait till you truly appreciate how much bigger the shoe selection is -- that's the most exciting part for me. :)

Continuing to pray for the whole area, both physically and spiritually. And for your ministry!!

Congratulations on baby girl! Your own little live doll to dress up! I love dressing my 3 girls up! Just 1 lonely little boy in the bunch.
I praise God that your homes are safe and sound. Every time I checked your website I couldn't find any new blog post since labor day posting. I'm glad that everyone is fine!

Oh, I am just so thrilled for all of you!! When we found out that my little sister (okay, we're in our 30s, but she's still my little sister!!) was having a baby girl, we were all just thrilled to pieces - because I had two boys! So, BRING ON THE PINK!! And I'm so thankful to hear that you all are safe and home. God is so good.

Amanda & Beth,
I want to congratulate you on your news of "it's a girl". I can tell you that my daughter and I were so very excited for you.
I do want to update a little and say that I am the siesta that lost her daughter 6 months ago to a drunk driver. I know that you have prayed for us.
We have been blessed with my grandson four weeks ago. He has brought much healing to our wounded hearts. I see the joy once again. How can one not see the joy, though, when our Father sends such great gifts as a life to care for. I love my grandson, but we do not enjoy shopping for him as much as we did for my grand daughter. I know you will have so much fun shopping, going to dance recitals, dressing up, tea parties. Oh, the fun!
Love you all so very much and will see you, Beth, at the LifeToday taping on the 3rd and 4th.
Blessings,

Laura Turner

What a blessing to have one of each! Enjoy the pink while you can...before the "big brother effect" happens. In our case, we had our girl first, so we have had the "big sister effect." They are 22 mo. apart and I simply love the way my son adores his sister, however, at age 3, he will still say that his favorite color is pink. He can identify all the Disney princesses, and if the two of them are left alone to play, he'll invariably emerge from his sister's room in full princess attire, right down to the sparkly lip gloss and bead necklaces. From friend's stories I hear that when the boy is first, you'll find your princess wearing Thomas the Train pajamas and cowboy boots, making dinosaur noises as her brother's beloved pets devour Cinderella's castle...
