On My Way Back Home!
Hey, Siestas! I have to type fast because I don't have long before we board! I am now sitting in the A Terminal at the Nashville Airport getting ready to head back to Houston. The wedding was fabulous! Rich was so handsome and Gretchen was gorgeous. So glad to be getting married. The sweetest faces looking at one another you've ever seen. Really tender wedding. Girlfriends, let me tell you that IN MY LIFE I have never heard a preacher bring an exhortation to a bride and groom like theirs did. His name is Reverend Carter Crenshaw and I'm telling you he was up in their stuff. Leaned into them and looked them dead center in the eye while he told them what faithfulness meant. Nothing pre-canned about it. It was fantastic. PROFOUND. And with such a sweet heart. I saw him pat on Rich's arm over and over. I thought to myself that every married person in that room needed a copy of that message. He was so good that Travis, Paige (another good friend of ours who was singing with Travis) and I couldn't even cut up during the service. Not that in a million years we ever would have. After all, our good friend, Ron, who does security at the events, was looking straight at us and that alone makes us behave.
There was one funny thing though. We were sitting on a side pew by the piano and there was a little piece of shag carpet right in front of us about the size of a welcome mat. It had some kind of hole under it with air puffing up through it. The church was gorgeous church so I know it had a really important acoustical purpose of some kind. I just wasn't familiar with it. Like a magic carpet of some kind. With every sound from the microphone or loud chord from the piano, it rose (fairly dramatically) then dropped like it was breathing. You can imagine it nearly did a flip when Travis hit some of his notes. I'm not kidding you. It reminded me of that really hairy dude on The Addams Family. What was his name? "Cousin It"? (I have to tell y'all that AJ edited that sentence for me because I told her on the way home in the car that it had occurred to me on the plane that it was the Addams family instead of The Muensters. BUT then it took Moose Mama to tell me that I had mistaken a kind of cheese for The Munsters. Laughing my head off. Are you sure you're not from Wisconsin?)
I know I'm jumping here but, again, I only have a second. I'm not after the Nobel Peace Prize here. I'm just trying to blog. The reception was so great. Travis sang a Harry Connick Jr. song while Rich and Gretchen danced and it was so romantic! Now, Gretchen, that girl can shake a leg. (If anything I'm saying means anything bad, I don't know it so forgive me.) She's the one that taught me the Cha Cha Slide.
As I live and breathe, the woman at the Continental counter just called for passenger "Shoestrang" (yes, strang) to check in at the desk. I sure hope I get to see that dude. He may be really skinny though.
We're boarding! Gotta go! Oh, and all five Cottrells did pick me up! I had the best time at their house!
No time to proof. You know what comes next...so deal.
I LOVE YOU!!

If you ever tire for reaching women for the LORD, you can certainly get a job doing color commentary for a sport! Let us know what Customer Shoestrang looked like.

I so love free airport wi-fi!
XO Melinda
I would love to see you do the cha cha slide! I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time and I hope that you can post a copy of that sermon for us married siestas!
Love you too!
1) LOL! ShoestAng!??? :)
2) I nearly am always laughing at the most horrible and inopportune times - weddings and yes....(gasp) funerals.
3) Thanks for the update on their wedding. So thrilled to hear it was amazing
I could be wrong, but wasn't Cousin It on The Addams Family? So was Shoestrang, the Southern cousin, whose nickname refers not to his dimensions, but to the oddly made banjo that he always brought with him to family gatherings. (Trust me, I'm from East Tennessee and I know these things.)
That magic carpet would have had me laughing!
I just love weddings...and that one sounds like it was grand.
Did Angela share about her trip to D.C.? I would love to hear all about it...
And, love you, too!
Glad to hear you had a great time!!! By the way, you crack me up girl!!! :)
Mama Beth, you crack me up! "Shoestrang"? Did you ever get to see the dude? My word! Glad to hear the wedding was wonderful. I will have mental images of poofy pieces of shag carpet for days! Wishing we all DID have a transcript of the pastor's message and exhortation! That would be amazing! Good for him to be bold and tell it like it needs to be told! Too many people not marrying forever today! What's up with that?! Congratulations again to Rich and his lovely wife. Can't wait to see the photos! Safe journey home, Mama Beth. Love you.
Thank you so much for all your blogs - serious, silly and in between. My own mother has been in heaven for over 7 years now, but I always feel a little mothered after reading your stuff. Don't know why really but I do. Don't forget - we love you too!
Thanks for making me smile...did you get any pictures?
Sounds like a GREAT weekend. I would be very interested to find out what was up with that carpet thing!! I would have been biting the inside of my mouth to keep from laughing.
Love these posts!
So deal...
Beth--
You are such a good friend to keep in touch with us. I have to tell you that I am doing "Living Beyond Yourself" in my home for some neighbors this fall (2 are new to any Bible study!) . After baking the tea cake, whipping the apple dip, getting 3 kids off to school and cleaning, I greeted the women, prayed, and pushed "play". When you started speaking I totally had to stop myself from crying. I felt like my long-lost sister had come for a visit and it felt soooo good. I know you understand the supernatural feeling of our friendships and I want you to know you are loved and cherished. Our friendship is by faith, not sight. (Grin.)
I love "dealing" with Beth's ways. Hysterical.
Beth Moore, I love you so much. No one has a sweeter time of life than you. Your words always make me smile. What a gift! Thank you for including me in your day.
Bless you, dear one.
:)
Mary
I'm so glad that you had a fun time! Thank you for the recap of your busy 24-hr trip:) What a whirlwind of fun...with the Cottrell's no less!
PS. And never feel bad about not proofing- We'd rather get little short tidbits here and there in your spare time anyday!
Hey Beth!
Glad you had such a great time! Isn't the Cha Cha Slide awesome? We used to do it every Friday at the Bobcat Bash in my children's school. That was in AR, we lived there for a couple of years. I was in dance for a long time and I just loved learning that one. I never did that one until I moved to AR.
I just wanted to tell you that I am SO EXCITED about Converge! My goal is to start preparing spiritually for Christmas right now. If I don't prepare for Christmas and especially Easter, I get really miserable. I get kind of certifiable. I hold it together for my family, but it's not right. Last year, I got too caught up in life circumstances and by the time Christmas rolled around, I just wanted it to be over, I wanted to run away from Christmas. Sounds terrible, I know. It is terrible.
I did your study "Jesus The One and Only" in 2007 and it ended right before Easter. I can honestly say that I never appreciated the meaning of Easter more than that year. I used to stay on my knees and read my Bible very consistently, it was like needing a drink of water. I am really desiring to read the word again and hopefully by the time I make it to Converge, I can stand there and worship with my whole heart and soul. When I started looking at the blog again after moving, I thought "I can click on the Houston Connection" now. Yes, you are blogging, quit torturing yourself over proof-reading, I know you are because you keep bringing it up, you are such a writer (big smile)!!!!!
Love you too!
*giggling*
Thank you Mama Siesta for the giggle. It's the first one I've had today (pitiful, huh)!
When James & I got married, we had a friend prepared to sing "Bless the Broken Road" and another friend was to cue the music. We're all such a gang of jokesters, and so far, the wedding had gone off without my cutting up (and I certainly didn't have any magic carpets!), when the friend in charge of music started some rock music! He was afraid I would be upset, but I thought it was funny, so I laughed, and then everyone else did too. (Ok, so maybe I had been one of those horrible bridezillas and I was just really glad it was all coming to an end. It was like trying to herd cats getting those peeps ready!)
Anyway, I'm the queen of ramble today and that's all the ramble for now.
I hope you've had a safe trip home, and I thank you for sharing the wedding with us :-)!
I love you!
hahahhaha Beth you are hilarious...I loved reading your post :) Glad to hear the wedding was fun and beautiful!
Oh Beth you sweet thing....I'll deal...but I was laughing so hard at The MUENSTERS. That's a cheese. The show was the MUNSTERS. But that isn't the show with Cousin It. He was on The Adams Family.
I'm so happy to hear about the wedding and that you had fun AND behaved yourself.

So glad you had a good time, hope we get some pictures of the blessed event.
Oh, you are soooo funny! Just love you to pieces!
So glad to hear that Rich and Gretchen's wedding went so well and that everyone had a great time celebrating with them...I love weddings!
My weekend has been eventful that is for sure....I am going to have to blog about it so any of you siestas out there looking for a new blog to read check mine out...it is going to be interesting! The title to the next post is going to be "Puppy Dogs and Tetnus Shots!"....Guess what I had to get this weekend?!
Well, Miss Bethie....hope that you arrived home safely and so glad that you had a lovely weekend!
I'll see you tomorrow night (on video for A Woman's Heart)!
You are SO funny!! I bet you can shake a leg yourself sister!! I know those aerobic instructors have some rhythm :)
Glad you had such a great time!
(you'll have to let us know about Mr. Shoestrang)
Oh Beth, I am cracking up. You are hilarious.
Beth, you make me laugh. I PERFORMED a wedding last weekend in Atlanta (got ordained online for it, my pastor was horrified, but sometimes we take a hit for our friends) and it was fantastic. We did the cha-cha slide AND the electric slide! Although the best moment was the bride's dance with her father, when the music segued from this Latin love song into the hip-hop song "Umbrella." Seeing my best girlfriend, who is an accomplished hip-hop dancer in addition to being a Yale Law graduate, in her white wedding dress jamming to a hip-hop tune while her dad just tried to keep up is one of the visuals I will keep in mind all my life. Precious. Aren't girlfriends wonderful?
Beth,
I'm so glad you in your writings help so many woman have a better day, night and put a smile on their faces. That is so wonderful! What a joy you are. And what a blessing for me to know you personally. You are the real deal.
Love alli
In high school a friend and I used to call the San Francisco airport and ask for the white courtesy telephone operator to page "Sylney Fondr". Who knows why? But we got a great kick out of it and 35 years later I'm still thinking it is funny. I'm *so* juvenile.
Glad you are back, safe and sound.
Oh Beth YOU ARE SO FUNNY!!! If there was only one thing to claim I love in life, it's humor. I would die without laughter. You are my kind of woman! I so appreciate that you don't hold back and are 'real' with all of us. You have such a beautiful heart and it's such a blessing to ALL of us ladies that love to read your blog. You're such a gift to us, sister. Praise God for the freedom we have in Him to be who He made us to be...without fear! Do you ever visit/speak for small gatherings of woman? What I mean is could a church have you out to speak to just the ladies of that particular church?
Much love to you! Can't wait to laugh with you in Heaven! :)
Oh Miss Beth, I have to be honest... I got on your blog tonight to find a link to Travis's... My husband is one of the staff members at the church we all go to and someone told me I could find a funny story of Levi there, so... :) (as if there is any other TYPE of story of Levi, am I right?!?)
Nonetheless, I figured since the highlight of my week is attending your Bible Study every Thursday I might as well tell you what every woman in the world must tell you and that is how your study's enrich the life of this pastor's wife every week. It's wonderful and refreshing to be able to go somewhere to be fed instead of being the one doing the feeding all of the time, and for that I thank you.
Here's the thing though... next time you're spending the weekend at the Cottrell's- be sure to come by and see us down in T.S.! (Or maybe you were there this morning and I missed it, who knows...) We'd welcome ya with open arms and big hugs! Thanks for your ministry!
I just read both blogs (going & coming) and of course in the wrong order! All I want to say is I LOVE YOU! You are the best.
Forever His,
Lawan Rivera
Phil 4:8
Seriously Shoestrang? Beth, we are all totally laughing out loud!!! Let us know the details of that person.
Could you elaborate on the pronunciation of “Shoestrang”? I’m imagining a Texan accent… British would be interesting too though… Just wondering. Did you get to meet him? That poor guy probably doesn’t even know he’s famous now :)
Beth Moore, I love you so!!! I ditto anonymous comment at 7:32 pm.....my own mother will be in heaven 10 years this year. Single gal here and I'm the same way..... Feel mothered after reading your blogs and that's a good thing. Love it! I've been reading everyday since you all started the blog and it is amazing the encouragement, the laughs, the cries, the smiles and the "community" this brings. Thank you for helping us all to be reminded what a blast life with Jesus is!! Love you, Susan
You are just a hoot! Needed the uplifting description of all that went on! It has to be hilarious around you. Thank you for sharing and being so transparent!
love you
Oh Mrs. Beth!
I so hope you read these comments. I have been wanting to tell you something for a while now and have not had any idea how to get in touch with you. I just discovered your blog this weekend, and thought this would be perfect!
Now I know you have no idea who I am, but I thought you might appreciate hearing this. God really used you in my life recently. I was at the Living Proof event in San Antonio back in August. I was having a hard time because I was losing my grandmother. The other ladies and I left early Friday morning (6ish) and I really didn't know whether or not I was going until about midnight Thursday. I was fearful that my grandmother would pass over the weekend while I was gone. I had already told her "goodbye" and that I loved her by Thursday night, but that didn't make my decision any easier. I'm so glad that I did decide to go! Everything that you said about getting our Inheritance and what Heaven is going to be like, really gave me a peace.
I'm sort of young (21) and am a fairly new Christian. It's been about three years since I gave my life to the Lord. I don't have many family members that are Christian influences, but my grandmother was one. That's part of why losing her was so hard. But, knowing that she has inherited Jesus and He has inherited her gives me this wonderful, indescribable feeling. And knowing that I'll be there one day as well makes it an even more wonderful feeling.
She passed the following Wednesday, but I did get to see her once more and share with her what I had experienced. And even though it was incredibly difficult, I kept reminding myself of everything I learned the weekend before. I knew that she was no longer hurting, and was livin' it up with Jesus! I love the thought of that. So, to conclude this long note, thank you so much for being a tool for God to use, not only in my life, but in many others.
If I never get to meet you here on earth, I'll see you in Heaven!
Sending lots of love,
Becca
I am so happy to come across your site. It was by accident, but I really love your work.
xoxo Nita
Congratulations, Gretchen and Rich!!
Beth, we love you too! So glad you had fun at the wedding. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
You're cracking me up with these airport posts. Have a wonderful week.

You have got your funny on, again! Must have been saving up through the wedding! So glad to hear of Rich and his sweet girl though- Sounds like a wedding that dreams are made of. They will probably always remember that preacher and what he said. Perfect! Glad you are coming home!
Lisa in Kirkland, WA
Not sure which I'm more curious about -- the wedding message or Shoestrang! :)
Hi Miss Beth,
Glad to hear you had a great time.
Could you please update us on how things are going in Houston; Galveston areas as soon as you can, because the northern newscasters are mostly focusing in on the election now, almost as if nothing happened down there... So sad !!!
The last time I knew, my friend [also a sister in Christ], who lives far to the NW of Houston was still having to go without electricity and a regular water service. =(
But, thanks be to God, she told me that everyone was "okay", and that it was the worst wind damage that she has ever seen in her area; like trees and power poles going down as if they were "toothpicks" !
And, even when the newscasters did speak about Hurricane Ike's rampage, they spoke mainly of Galveston, and about 1 major building whose windows were all broken out in downtown Houston. I wish that I could help out regarding that situation more from here... But, I do know that prayer goes a long ways; praise our magnificent God !!! So, that is what I have been doing... Lots of praying for all of Y'all !
By the way, I just saw the wierdest and coolest looking thing [at the same time] on the news a little while ago, and believe it or not, it reminded me of you, Miss Beth! It is going to be on exhibit next month at the Wis. Historical Museum, I guess. Of course, I didn't even know we had one of those. It was a thing with like 10-12 of these metal curling rods on it, and they stated that women actually used to use it on their hair - LOL !
And, I've never eaten Muenster cheese, but I am living in Wisconsin ~ hehe... I do love the smoked string cheese that we get from this small dairy near the campground where my Mom & I camp in southern Wis.
And, yes, I do remember watching both the Munsters and the old Addams Family shows on TV while I was growing up!
As a matter of fact, one day while my 3 older sisters and I were watching The Munsters, the living room drop down ceiling caved in on us, but nobody got hurt. Now we just have to laugh about it because it happened while we were watching that particular show. [You can tell my age, because back then, the Munsters were "a bit scary" for kids back then] - LOL
And, I've never eaten Muenster cheese, but I am living in Wisconsin ~ hehe. I do love the smoked string cheese that we get from this small dairy near the campground where my Mom & I camp in southern Wis. And, don't you worry your sweet head off about the word "camping", as my parents purchased a really nice 5th wheel trailer, with nearly everything a person needs in it- which has gotta be better than that place you and Keith had to stay at when you showed us some pictures from your African trip during the taping of LBY several years ago now - hehehe !
Hey, you've actually got me almost "smiling", which is something that has been very hard for me to do in the past year, as my dear Daddy passed away about 6 months ago from Leukemia... Thanks ! =)
And, I would love to see you doing the cha-cha slide, too; LOL !
I'm wondering if you are allowed to [and are willing to] give us siestas any hints as to what you are working on for your next project, if the Lord has chosen to give you one yet ???
However, do try to make it a "small one", Lord ! I think our dear teacher and Siesta Mama deserves a HUGE break from writing the major kind of stuff like Esther, though !!! Just call it "your Sabbath rest", my dear sister !!!
Hugs to you !
Love in Christ Jesus,
Jennifer O.

Beth--thanks so much for coming to celebrate Gretch and Rich's wedding. It was truly beautiful and all that they had hoped it would be. I'm thankful for the role you have played in Rich's life along the way. I'm thankful for the man he has become and the great husband I know he will be to my sister. Thank you again for coming!
Rebecca (aka: sister of the bride/Maid of Honor/Rich's new sister-in-law) :)
Too bad you couldn't have got a picture of Shoestrang! Or of you doing the Cha-Cha slide
What was with that carpet! I have such A.D.D. I wouldn't remember anything from the wedding!
I would have to agree with twinkle...the magic carpet would have gotten me going! :)
So happy that the wedding was wonderful and God met them there with words of wisdom!
thanks for the quick note and the not so qick laugh here!

whose daughters changed my blogger name from mamabearmk to go-between!
Girlfriend I think maybe you need to aah...see somebody if you know what I mean. I mean I seriously think you NEED help!!!!! Please dial "911" and ask to be transfered to the "MENTAL UNIT"!!!(Ha Ha just kidding)! You CRAZY thing!! You crack me up and I find myself smilin':) and laughin' all at the same time.
Way to behave in church....I know how hard that must have been for you!! Did Mr. Shoestrang look like a "shoestring" or "stringbean"???
Congratulations Rich and Gretchen and I pray God's "richest" blessings on your marriage (no pun intended!!).
Much love to you "crazy" girlfriend!!! XO

I just have to say...
that I love the "so deal"!
can't wait for Lit Tuesday!
How fun?!?! I'm so glad you had an awesome time! Blessings over your trip back! Love ya!
I love the comment about the magic carpet. The fact that it was shag just adds to the whole picture. How y'all managed to keep it together during the wedding is amazing. You're right the pastor must have been one amazing guy!!
Glad you got to spend time with the Cottrell's and more so that you're back home now to help AJ while Curtis is gone. There's nothing better than to have your Mama back home.
Take care, Beth and thanks for the grin. You always lift me up!!!
Much love and silliness,
~Cheryl
So good to hear from you Siesta Mama Beth! I've been busy lately so I am catching up on my blog reading. I'm so glad the wedding went well and what a sweet post before about how much this young man means to you. He's blessed you have you in his life - we all are!!! Hope you have a great week! Love you lots!
I SOOO love the cha cha slide! I have been meaning to download it from itunes. Homeschooling 3 children can wear on your nerves and I think when we are all going bonkers it would be fun to take a break and shake a leg with the cha-cha slide. It may keep us all more focused!!!
Mama Siesta Beth,
You crack me up! I am so happy to read anything you post on your blog! I feel like I know you personally! It is such a joy to share in laughter with you, and I know your wicked sense of humor comes from loving Jesus. (I mean wicked in the best way, I am the mom of a teen girl and it means good stuff).
can't wait to see you in Illinois next year.
Love you! So deal....ha!
Tracy
Thanks for the funny posts, Beth.
You are cuter than words can describe!!
I love a good wedding! When we go to weddings, my husband and I hold each other's hand and always "renew" our vows and say our "I do's" very softly as the bride and groom says theirs. It is such a time of cleansing and a true reminder that we are in this for the long haul so let's enjoy every minute of it!
BTW, I just got back from my first women's retreat since joining the staff as the Director of Women's Ministry at our west campus. It was soooooooo fabulous! God showed up so big! We had such an intimate and personal time with Him on Sat. night. It was the sweetest time. While Gretchen was getting to know her groom, we were getting better acquainted with our GROOM!! Oh how I want to be a beautiful, cleaned up BRIDE for Him. He deserves no less!!!
Blessed assurance, Jesus is MINE!! And I am His!!! Forever in love with the Savior and so blessed to be the BRIDE OF CHRIST!!!
Thank you, JESUS!!!
Beth all I can it would be so much fun being your friend!!
So glad to hear the wedding went well! I can see you and Travis doing the ChaCha slide...."now everybody clap your hands"...
WE are waiting with anticipation to hear more about Shoestrang!
Perhaps it is the person who ran into our building that had the excuse: "My shoe string got stuck on the accelerator"
The weekend sounds like a wonderful time for all! Weddings are so special and spending time with friends a blessing. Did you ever get an explanation on the carpet?
I love your sense of humor! Tidbits can come anyday without proof. Around here, we never know when 'Daddy' is going to say or so something for all to have a good laugh.
Shoestrang???? That is way too funny.... And I loved the bit about the breathing carpet - did you ever find out what it was for?
Love and hugs,
Adrienne
Mamma Beth:
You are so funny and I needed something to laugh about this morning. Coming to see you in Dallas on Friday and can't wait. Couple of us Siesta's will be there supporting our favorite bible teacher...
Loving you with all He has given me to Love with!
Lichelle
We need to see a "video" lesson on the cha-cha slide!! Sounds like fun! It's always fun to read your blog first thing in the morning, right after my devotion!
I'm curious about "Shoestrang"--sounds very interesting!
Have a great week.
Bobbie
Beth, you are the best! The wedding sounds so beautiful! I will be wondering about the magic carpet though!
Blessings
Michelle
Glad you had such a great time! Hope we get to see some pics! Would love to see you doing the Cha Cha slide!
By the way, I loved the Adams family as a child. (and the Munsters too) Come to think of it, I loved them as an adult as well.
Getting ready to facilitate our first night of Stepping Up this Wednesday at my church. Can't wait!
Praying for Tuesday night!
Much love!
Kristi B.
Girl! That rug was there so we wouldn't freeze! :0) During the rehearsal Sat a.m. that vent was blowing an arctic blast so profound I couldn't feel my feet up to my ankles. So Brooke brought it so we wouldn't be little blocks of ice before our wedding moments! But it was so like the Cousin It! I couldn't look at it or I'd get tickled...like when I poked Trav in the eye with my long skinny program. Almost lost it and had to think sad thoughts to regroup. So fun.
Love, the other wedding singer.
Oh my goodness, I just love you. You make me laugh about "no time to proof... so deal." I just love your transparency and honesty and for being real.
It makes me think of something that happened last night. My daughter went to play with our music minister's daughter yesterday. When I went in to drop her, and a bunch of her baby dolls, off at their house I saw dust bunnies on the floor. I told Audra, (the mom), later that night as we were discussing the craziness of our lives that I wanted to send her a thank you card saying, "thank you for having dust bunnies!" It's so nice to know you aren't the only one who's not perfect. HA!
Sounds like the wedding was wonderful. I'm glad it went well and congrat's to the happy couple!
On a side note, could you please say a little prayer for my husband Mark. He's in Kenya right now on a mission trip. Taking out teeth and sharing the gospel. They had 60 decisions for Christ yesterday. May there be many more. 27 of them said they would attend church if one was planted there~so they are planting one there. Hallelujah! Mark will also be headed back to India with Bobbie Caldwell & Global Encounters over Christmas.
Thanks!
Blessings,
Anna
Thanks for sharing about the wedding you are so great at giving the details and making us see it through your eyes!!!
GG2002
Oh Beth, that was great to read! Somehow it is always a blessing to hear of another couple married in the Lord, especially when they get a great "wedding charge" in their ceremony. Enormous blessings to the new couple on their honeymoon (woot! how awesome are they?!) and thanks for updating us!!!
The Journey Continues ~
Oh "cha cha" Beth, Thank you for always sharing your gift of greetings to all of us! I bet you thought I was going to say "gift of gab" LOL
Being a HDHD personality, I would have been watching the little fuzz piece of shag dancin the cha cha at the wedding too!
do you have photos to share with us?
Speaking of celebrations, I attended my 30 year class reunion. My husband and I walked in and the first thing I did was say hello to a person who's name was different than I mentioned. I have to add that he did have on his sunglasses so I used that as the Oops! I think we had a "reunion crasher" too. I was the ASB President in the OLD days and knew pretty much everyone in our little country high school. Well, during the reunion, old classmates continued coming up to me and asking " WHO IS THIS GUY " and NO ONE knew him. He was not listed anywhere in our yearbook.
I asked him point blank what he did in school and he told me he played basketball ~ No one remembers him playing basketball including the captain of the team and there are no photos in all 4 years of this guy. He wanted photos with taken with all of us through the evening too. He was the TALK of our Reunion.
I have decided to take off some photos on my blog that show homes etc... I recommend to all the siesta's that we need to always be alert and careful with what we say on our personal blogs and posts.
Is that okay Beth, Amanda and Melissa to share? I just want us Siesta's in JESUS CHRIST to have our armor on always!
I look forward to reading all the LPM posts and feel as though Beth is our
ASB ( Associated Siesta Body ) President and we are her committee! :)
We LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH !!!!
With " Heaven Bound " blessings,
Kim

You are so funny!
Oh, Beth! I am dealing with it and so blessed by it too. I love your posts, the joy that pours from your heart onto my computer screen! Thank you for the update. Thankful prayers for all of you!
And seriously??? The carpet thing is wierd!
You are so hilarious....how do you come up with these things? If the bible study teacher "thang" doesn't work out for you, you could always get a job as a stand-up comedian!!! LOL ;)
Love you- truly. Your posts just make me smile... especially when you said if anything you said meant anything bad you didn't mean it.
I need that disclaimer to follow nearly everything that comes out of my mouth!
When I lived in Nashville I attended Carter Crenshaw's church and was fortunate enough to have my pre-marital counseling done through the church. My husband and I were taught by Cater from the importance of marriage and that children are a fruit of marriage. I am so glad to hear that he is still encouraging people in their marriage relationship and the benefits of a godly marriage. Thanks for sharing!
What a blessing to hear twice from you. You include all of us in so much of your staff's lives. We love it. We think we know them personally. It will sure be a blessing when we can all be together!!
Enjoy your week....hopefully it is not to stressful, but somehome I think you go 100 mph all the time.
:)
Blessings to all,

I'm sure if I had seen the poofing shag carpet I would have cracked up. You know how you get laughing at something when you are trying not to and the more you think about it the funnier it gets! Glad you had a great time. God bless.
Lynn in AB
Beth, when are coming out with your cha-cha slide video and other important dances we should know while praising the Lord. I hope to get the chance to laugh and party with you one day! Most likely in heaven. :)
Love you lots.
Grandmamitz
LOL!!
So funny that you should notice the "carpet" in the middle of the wedding
That would have been neat to see :)So glad you had fun
Blessings

Not too long ago I stumbled onto your blog while I was looking at Jean Stockdale's blog (another awesome bible study leader from Bellevue Baptist Church). I have really enjoyed reading about your family and the adventures y'all have had. Thank you for keeping up your blog.
The first bible study I did was "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place." It was exactly what I needed at the time. Since then, every time my church does a Beth Moore study, I sign up as quickly as I can. Thank you for letting God use you in such awesome ways.
Your siesta in Southaven, MS,
Michelle
Hi Beth,
I've only commented on your blog once before, but have been reading for a while. These last couple of posts about a wedding ties in perfectly with the movie my husband and I went to see last night. Our church rented out the theater and gave away free tickets to those who aren't regular attenders for the movie "FIREPROOF". IT WAS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! It's about marriage. It has action for the guys and goofy guy humor. It has romance for the girls. But most importantly it's about Jesus!! The gospel is presented very clearly. Ladies, take your husbands and go see this movie. Take all your friends and those who don't yet know the Lord. Take everyone you know!!!! And you can watch the trailer on the website! Just google the movie name FIREPROOF and you'll find it!!
Beth,
I just love it when you blog that way! Letting us in on the little things, talking with us as if we are sitting right there next to you, talking a hundred miles an hour about nothing. That is what I love about girlfriends! That is something men cannot do! They just look at you and you can tell they lost you about two words into the sentence! Oh, and you definitely cannot talk about more than one subject at a time!
So thankful that Rich and Gretchen had a beautiful wedding. Sounds like we do need a copy of that message! Have a good day!
I called a lady named Mary Berry yesterday to invite her to sunday school...I sure hope she comes!! I told her I would never forget her name! I can't believe you are not going for the Nobel Peace Prize.
ps my man just came home from an early hunting trip to kansas and I scolded him when he got home because we did not EVEN get a back scratcher or jumbo pencil. Can someone from the great state of Kansas please mail me a back scratcher to add to my collection? Inside joke!
Thanks, Siesta Beth. I love the updates!
I love it when pastors really BRING It at a wedding! Have you seen Fireproof? God is going to use it to stir some stuff up in this country!! I'm leading Living Beyond Yourself at our church, and we've just finished the first day of homework on "Love"...good stuff Beth! Keep bringing it!
Thanks for sharing momma beth!!! The magic carpet cracked me up. That would've had me laughing so hard. LOVE YOU! :)
Thanks for sharing momma beth! The magic carpet would've had me laughing soooooo hard. LOVE YOU! :)
A Harry Connic Jr. song sung by Trav. how wonderful!
Glad you are home. My mom, sis and aunt were in Billings and loved their time!
Thank you!
I just love you so much!! You are a hoot!!Thank you for these fun and funny posts!
All your inaccuracies flew right by me. Just loving that you found time to squeeze a few seconds in for us. Have a great week!
P.S. I'm digging Believing God right now....so timely for me.
Thank you so much for that!
I really needed a good laugh. Sometimes I take life waaaaaay too seriously. :)
Love ya girl!
I'm so glad you had a wonderful time ! I love Weddings. I would love to get a copy of the sermon too. It was the Adamms Family and cousin it!
Love Ya Too!
Beth, my dear, you are a hoot!
Yes, I would have also giggled at the funny last name because, apparently, I'm still a little bit immature in that way! So glad the wedding went well....although I still don't understand the purpose of the "magic carpet". Surely we are more tecnichally advanced than to have to use a piece of carpet to keep all the audio going......
What a fun trip! Just another way God blesses us with fun...weddings with no planning on our part!
Shoestrang....I understand that
Cousin It was my favorite character on the Addams Family. Looking back, I am surprised I was allowed to watch it because my mother let me watch so little tv.
Thanks for the wedding update.
Hey Bethie!! Just wanted to thank you for an incredible week of Bible study - our women's group is 60 strong and on our 4th week of Believing God! Whoohoo God is awesome!
-All my love
Beth, I just love you. You absolutely crack me up. You are just cute as can be.
I'm so glad the wedding went well and that you had a blast. Have a good week back on the homefront.
Love,
Kristen
Sounds like a enjoyable "jam packed" 2 days reading both posts! Thanks for sharing. On a personal note, my bible study group is on the 3rd week of Breaking Free tonight from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. CST, so I will be seeing you then (on pre -recorded video-sometimes it's good to laugh) Been listening to "Do you Know Jesus" to prepare for tonight. Take Care!
Beth: I love you - when you said the wedding was so good that you couldn't even "cut up" I loved your vernacular! I so get it. And when you're in a place that doesn't lend itself to cutting up(like church or a wedding or even a funeral) it makes it all the harder NOT to cut up - at least for me. But I'm known for my cutting up ways...I love life and have a LARGE time most places!
One of the times my sisters and I were holding back from cutting up was at a funeral. The preacher was telling everyone that our Aunt Sandy had put on "immorality" instead of "immortality!" The pew was shaking because we were trying so hard not to laugh...
Did you ever get a chance to eyeball old "Shoestrang?" I'm thinking Barney Fife.
You're a delight!!!
Georgia Jan
laughing my head off!!!
Yes... who was that masked "shoestrang??"
also, I love a gal who can properly use the phrase "as I live and breathe." Thanks for making me giggle.
Darlene
Just read both of your airport blogs and loved them both. You put quite a few smiles on my face. I'm surprised that you got so much done in such a public place. I imagine women coming up to you constantly to hug your neck.
Have a good week - especially tomorrow night!!
I'm not sure why, but last night I had a dream that your Keith and my Chris were talking guns in your living room. Keith opened the window and showed Chris that he had his own private range right from the comforts of your living room!
Then some girl tried to take Jackson (he was a tiny baby in a baby carrier) away and I kicked her and took him back to Amanda. (I really don't kick people!)
What in the world could any of that mean? Perhaps, it was the mexican food we had last night with our church friends. And what would your neighbors think of a rifle range next door?
I love these unedited blogs! :)
Muenster, Munster...LOL!
Sounds like a wonderful wedding. I would have loved to hear the preacher!
How appropriate that our Siesta Mama did the Cha Cha!
I love hearing about the LPM family and the wonderful news about Rich and Gretchen's wedding. What a blessing for both of them. I hope some pictures of his beautiful day will be shared.
He always is generous about sharing his gift with us. The beautiful moments he captures on film is extraordinary and I am so grateful to feel like we are a part of the LPM family.
I am now going to share some of my family with you all! (Not that any of you asked!) My baby brother is getting married this weekend, October 4th, and although I am no Travis Cottrell, I will be singing at the wedding. I am singing The Covenant Song written by Dennis Jernigan. Although I have sung at many weddings I am nervous about singing at my brothers. I want this day to be a blessing for he and his beautiful bride. Please place us on your prayer list!!
I can't help but smile when I read your descriptions of things! I never knew waiting at the airport could be so fun!! I can't wait till my next plane trip. Actually I can't wait till October 17th when my fellow Siesta's and I attend the New England Nights with Beth in Connecticut. So much going on!!! Busy Busy!
Lots of love to you all. Please know that our Church over here in Little Old Rhode Island is still praying for all of you affected by Hurricane Ike. We have not forgotten you even amidst the political news. God Bless you all! Love, Lori
So excited it went well! Prayed for you all!
I love Carter Crenshaw... I used to live in Nashville (Oh how I miss it) and my brother went to his church when it first started! We used to go visit...
Thanks for making me smile tonight! Starting Stepping Up tomorrow with my group! Can't wait!
Love and miss all my siestas! Emmy : )
Beth,
I haven't had time in the last week to read all of the posts or reply to any of them but you have had me ROLLING on the couch laughing with this one!! My little Yorkie thinks I'm nuts. :D I can picture that piece of carpet and I don't know how in the world y'all didn't bust a gut laughing at that! How did you stifle that laugh?!?
Shoestrang...love it. :) And love YOU!
Missy in SC
Fun stuff... Love what you wrote and thanks for sharing both the touching and the trifle moments of the wedding. It is a gorgeous thing to see God's plan for man and woman come together in a breathtaking crescendo when all in the world seems perfect and right. That and the day a baby is born are two days of near heaven-like perfection if I've ever encountered one. A day when the love and miracles of God just stand out and shine in the joining and giving of life.
It is incredible to think about.
By the way, did you take a breath as you gushed all those words... I can feel the excitement in your words. You are such a blast and we love you, too!
I'm so sorry: it isn't Steppin Up, it's Wising Up. I love it and I am so thankful for the truth you are speaking. It makes me want to dig in my Bible every day.
Blessings from FL!
P. S. Shelly - I call it inappropriate laughter and try to hit mute with a tissue if I am at a funeral.
My daughter and I have to leave the room is someone accidentally falls down and hurts themselves. As concerned as we are about the injured... We just cannot keep ourselves from giggling and snorting out loud while the injured tries to pick themselves back up and we are rolling on the floor beside them laughing. It is quite frankly AWFUL of us, but like I said, we can't help it.
My son, when he was two, had a temper tantrum that resulted in him running in a circle between two beds at full steam before bolting out of the spin into a wall. He laid himself out on the floor right in front of us. He intended to bolt in the opposite direction where there was a door, but in his hasty spinning he hit the wall instead.
My mother and I could not help it. We sat dead silent while he got up and shook off the jolt. Then he stared at us as we began to smirk and said, "It's not funny!" So she hugged and patted and gave a gentle rebuke for the fit while I laughed and then he would come to me and I would check him out and hug and pat with gentle words of rebuke while she laughed. We did this over and over until we got over our urge to giggle. Needless to say he never ran in a circle in a fit of anger again.
Blessings All.
Glad you had such a great time! I hope we get to see some of those wedding pics!
Shoe-Strang??!! I seriously laughed outloud, by myself. Dang, I wish someone in my house was awake so I could share how funny that was!
Love you so much Beth.
We are doing Believing God for our Wednesday morning Bible Study. It is powerful and mighty. Please pray for us God is moving in a mighty way and the enemy is pushing back.
We know Greater is He that is within us.....it's the one's who do not have Him within that I'm praying for
Mrs. Beth,
You are cracking me up with your writing the past two posts. You are in a hilarious mood and it shows! Or at least a lot of funny things have been happening to you. Thanks for sharing the fun details of Rich's wedding. It was great to meet him in San Antonio, we were in the yellow picture group and he went first with us. It was fun watching him play with his lift he had to use to take the group photos. I think he enjoyed that way too much!
w
I would have lost it with the rug....and Anne from Tennessee does know her Adams Family! Cousin It was a member of the illustrious family. I just watched an episode the other day.....I'm serious...woho I love it.
Saturday there was weddings, a family members dad passed away, and we had a baby dedication at church on Sunday.
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven
It is so wonderful to know the God who gives us all of this and to share it with women so fully into life!
thank you for sharing your life with us. you make me laugh like nobody else!!
I want to know how many red bulls you had before blogging? i love it!
isn't that the way a sanguines' mind works. i think each person in that head of yours helped you blog. i got it! i am 100% sanguine also. loved the shoe strang. (wonder how many people got it?)
love dedra@dfw
Love you too!
thanks for sharing these events of your days with us
LOL. You are SO CUTE!! And yes, I totally want to know what Customer Shoestrang looked like (oops I almost typed "Shoestrange" by mistake!). And the magic carpet ... oh my, I would've died laughing, glaring security or not!
What did shoestrang look like?
Speaking of marriages, I highly recommend the movie "Fireproof". Just came out in theaters last week. Not sure which states are carrying it though.
Beth - I travel every week of my life and whenever I am in the Houston airport I always wonder if this will be the day I see BETH ! I have a friend in Houston who called me one day so excited that she had found you in the bathroom at the rodeo and had told you about me and how much I love you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to blog - yours is the only one I read - you always make my day ... and if anyone can convince me that God loves me - it is you.
I love this blog do you hear me LOVE reading this thing. I feel as though we are in the same room. Beth you have quite the sense of humor and I love that, keeps me smiling. May God continue to bless you as you have me.
Just read your pre and post wedding posts and my heart and my face smiled...and laughed out loud, sorry, LOL at "Shoestrang"! I was just previously reading up on our gas situation here in Charlotte and I needed me some Beth! And you ALWAYS deliver.
Beth,I love reading your blog...you are so funny! I usually read it while at work and it just brings some fun into my day.
Thank you for coming to Billings, Montana...we learned much, laughed much and cried much....you are a blessing to us all.
Shoestrang? Oh my goodness. I'm about to crack up. For real y'all, my aunt's cousin (not on my side) is named Bugfuzz. I kid you not.
So happy to hear the wedding went well. Would love to have the sermon to listen to. :)
~Sarah
So glad to hear you had a great time! You work so hard for all of us, you deserve it!! On an old subject, is there anyway to post the "commission statement" you had us recite at the end of Deeper Still/Atlanta. I know many of us from Atlanta have been waiting for the Vegas event in hopes that it would be posted either on the DS blog or here. It blessed me and my companions so much that I would love to have it to reflect back on! Thank you and may the LORD continue to BLESS this ministry!! Love ya in Christ :o)
I read where BooMama is giving away Travis' new Christmas CD "Ring The Bells" next Tuesday on her blog...thought other siestas would want to know. You just leave a comment of your favorite Christmas song to be entered and the contest ends on Monday.
"Shoestrang?" ROLLING ALL OVER THE FLOOR LAUGHING...my boss thinks I've lost my mind! Oh thank You Lord that's what I need...a good silly laugh.
Dear Annalou,
Two thangs...
1)ok I had to laugh at this (but know I think it's wonderful what God has called your husband to do and that yall have listen to God and followed His will is fantastic...) I pictured your hubby speaking to one of his patients about God while he is doing his thing all up in their mouth *giggles* they can't get away and they can't interup... perfect!
2) Isn't just so wonderful to know that those whom seem perfect have their flaws too...and like God we can love them anyway...and thus they can love us inspite of our flaws...Awesomeness!
Okay, this was the funniest post you have ever written and I had to get on and say "Thanks" for making me laugh and chuckle today. You should be a stand up, sit down, whatever comedian when you aren't busy flying around speaking! I am a sister in Seattle...and I keep your "link" on my blogsite to lead others to your LPM blog for a good reason! Keep the word and laughter flowing!!! Appreciating you, Jeannine
I'm so glad you had a good time. I swear you could find something funny anywhere! I needed you around at my grandmother's funeral.
You certainly do live an exclamation point life!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love reading your blogs they are so refreshing!! I can't wait to see you in person when you come to Portland Oregon!!! We are counting the days :)
I love that we all get a kick out of the same things. Simple, human, innocent, darn right funny stuff. Don't you think Jesus is laughing right along with us?
xo Chris
Hey Mama Beth ! I've done a few of your studies (currently Believing God) and just stumbled across your blog - and lovin' it!
Reminds me how wonderful Heaven is going to be with LITERALLY all our BFF's there !!!
God is certainly using you to pour out His super sweet blessings !
Lori in Granbury, Texas
Gig Em' !!
Aren't airports the best places to blog? I know my mind just goes a thousand places (and I make up stories about people). I would have made up some great stories about Shoestrang, but your mental descrip was pretty good. ;)
Glad the wedding went well.
I have a special prayer request for my Daughter and a friend of hers, there is a situation in there lives that needs to be coverd in prayer. I will not go into details God knows everyting that is going on. please left them up in your prayers.
I really needed this post today to remind me that the Wedding in the air will be worth the pain of today. Today the doctors at UT are taking my beloved aunt and mentor Ruth Hildreth off her life support. She will be with our Father soon. Thanks for the laughter and gentle reminders! I love your heart for reaching women for Jesus.
Spiritual Mom Beth I am soo glad you had a great time! That pastor's exhortation sounds like it was profound the way you describe it:) The part about Travis singing makes me laugh! Oh yay! Dancin' at a wedding! We had that too-complete with "Rocky Top" although I prob. should not be admitting that now...you are random funny! You must have had a great, blessed time Spiritual Mom Beth! LOVE YOU TOO!:)

Sorry im late on writing! As you know mamma beth normaly im one of the frist to comment! U always make me smile! Love you tons!
My dearest Beth,
I've have just got to tell you - I have been doing your studies, reading your books, attending your conferences, and basically raving about you for the last several years of my life. I'm currently working on my MBA and taking a leadership course right now. Our assignment is to write about someone who we think is a leader. You were a logical choice. I'm having the darndest time, though, writing it in a formal style because I want to keep referring to you as Beth instead of simply Moore as is typical style of a formal paper! I just consider you like any other friend and I refer to all my friends by their first names so having to refer to you by your last name is proving difficult! Do you think the professor would mind if I just referred to you as Mama Siesta? Somehow I don't think that would go over as well - or at the least, she wouldn't appreciate it quite like our little blogging community does!
Becca -
You are so dear! I am so thrilled BUT not surprised the LORD met you in that place of angst and sadness, feelings NO ONE knows but you and him. It's incredible to have this relationship with him. IT's real and really exhilerating. Thank you for sharing and you will be in my prayers. And I agree - Beth ROCKS.
Beth -
Fun side note; a while ago I was reading about all the fun surrounding Melissa's wedding and how she FINALLY gave up the Donnie Wahlberg years.
So, the news is that the New Kids are not Kids anymore, but back together and so they have the VH1 special running all the time.
THE WHOLE TIME I'M THINKING OF MELISSA!!!!
What fun!
Siesta OC
It's a small world after all...my brother Scott was at Rich & Gretchen's wedding as well! He is good friends with Rich. Also, Gretchen went to college with my other brother!! Sounds like it was a wonderful time!!
Mrs. Beth - You're probably already on your way... Looking forward to this weekend!!
Oh, did they have a flower girl? Did she pick her nose like my daughter did when she was flower girl? OH, yes, she did.
~Donna
Beth,
I am glad that you are on your way home, but unfortunately alot of people either do not have a home or/and are misplaced by the hurricanes. Thankfully my parents are alright, they live in NO. Even though they left they did not get much damage. I know this is going to sound strange, but I thank God everyday that my family and I do not live in NO anymore. With me having two children to take care of I am glad that my family is safe. Even though we live in OK, I would never move back to NO because of the crime, schools so bad, and weather. We have been blessed that the weather has not gotten as bad as NO. Also I have a question about Daniel. How do I get on a chat and/or blog about that.
Love, Paula
Beth, you are SOOOO real!...just like Jesus was REALLY REAL!
My Pastor Sara is taking us through Living Beyond Yourself and I love your illustrations from the REAL LIFE and your presentation of the GOSPEL 'Acc.to Beth' with comments from Jesus and a bunch of Apostles, disciples and prophets. Thank you so much for caring about women in the Body of Christ,(some of our men are doing the course, too) Would Jesus ask any more of one of His ministers?
Keep on. I will have to run real hard to live beyond myself but with Holy Spirit, my dazzling Teacher Sara and your course, I can do, feel and know!!
Blessings and thank you, again.
