My Daddy's Work

Hey, Siestas! How are my favorite bloggers doing?? I don't get to really tarry right now on the blog because I am officially one month out from my Esther manuscript coming due (you won't waste a prayer on me) and I'll need every second of it. When I sign a contract, my schedule is nothing but a well planned theory. It never takes into account that sometimes over the course of a project Dad's die, daughters get married, bodies get viruses, ministries need running (I praise You for the privilege, Lord!), husbands need tending, Christmas needs celebrating, dogs get cancer and might, if it's a hard year, even need burying. Deep sigh. Anyway, you've heard enough about that so I'm not going to go there with you again. Just wanted you to know why some of my times on here have to be briefer right now. I always forget to take life into account when I plan my work schedule. Then again, I wouldn't be much of a servant to you if I weren't living life right along with you.

I just had to hop on and tell you something I thought was kinda fun. Yesterday Amanda stopped by the ministry with Jackson. He's almost two and a half now and at the cutest age imaginable. I'd met AJ out in the parking lot because I love to surprise the boy by popping up at the window next to his car seat. He's always so glad to see Bibby and makes such a big deal out of it. Man, I'm so drunk on the little guy I can hardly stand it. Anyway, after the half hour it took me to unlatch him from that gosh-awful carseat, we brought him in and he immediately owned the place. Of course he did. He gets to. What I found so delightfully endearing was that, no matter where he went (and he went practically everywhere in the building), he patted things in that particular office and confidently, possessively chirped, "Daddy's work!" Mind you, Curtis has one office just like the rest of us and it is down on the first floor but to his son who thinks he is the END ALL, the whole building was Daddy's work. Even Sabrina's office was Daddy's work and she directs the whole shebang.

I loved it. So did she.

I just wanted to remind you today that no matter where you go, you can freely pat everything in the room or everything in sight, for crying out loud, every single thing on God's green earth, and say, "Daddy's work." Go right ahead. Be confident. Act possessive for His Name's sake. Sound a little sassy when you say it because it's the truth beneath all truths. It's all Daddy's work. He owns the place. For "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." Psalm 24:1. He not only owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He owns the thousand hills under the tails of the cattle.

"This is what the Lord says: 'Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool.'" (Is. 66:1) If it's on Planet Earth, Darling Thing, it's under His feet. Don't sweat it so much. It's Daddy's work.

Beautiful thought. I love it.

Sweet Sister, I know how hard it still is on you. I still get wistful over the best dog in the worlds passing and that was in 1985! When you really love something it's a forever deal! I am so glad that it truly is our Daddy's work, cause I couldn't do it on my own. I love you so much you couldn't stand it!

How wonderful a lesson! Thank you!

I am glad all things are my Daddy's work because I certainly can rest easy knowing He is in charge... Just as I did growing up and trusting in my dad's ability to take care of everything.

Prayers for you and Esther!

What a beautiful thought- and I am tearing up at the tenderness of your love for that little guy. I am so moved, thinking about all you have endured this year. I am so sorry for the hard times you have faced, and I am honored to pray for you.

Just today as I was straightening my bokshelves, I pored ovre notes I had written in the margins of your studies I've done over the years, and remembering where I was spiritually for each study. I'm so grateful for the blessing of your ministry and your heart, as you go about doing "Daddy's business".

Dear Beth,
What a sweet lesson. Thanks for popping in.

Count on my prayers, dear one, as the Esther manuscript comes due.

Wow, the time has passed so quickly. It seems just a short time ago that I was in Birmingham listening to a very proud grand mother tell of the arrival of her first grand child, precious baby Jackson.

Your little guy is growing up. The last photos Amanda shared of him were so cute. The ice cream bar started to melt and he was not a happy camper. He is a doll.

I tell my boys, "I didn't know who I was missing until God sent you into my life." God is so good. His lovingkindness never ends.

Blessings,
Mary

Oh...What a thought your words brought to mind. We've heard of "Bring-Your-Child-To-Work Day". How about BRING-YOUR-LORD-TO-WORK DAY, and dedicate e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g you touch (including people's lives!!!) to the Lord. Oh what a difference the world would be if we consistently did that!
Have a blessed day, Beth!!!

I am so glad for that reminder....and glad that He is in control of it all.
That gives me the ability to use that sound mind He gave me.
I enjoyed the filming this weekend...it was my first time in DWF...so we had fun. Thanks for all the good stuff to chew on...thanks for being our servant.
It was nice meeting your man...but unlike the comment made by the young woman there saying we would do good with Keith as our teacher......We will be glad just to stick with what we have...WE NEED YOU!
Beside I think Keith would get tired of all us females after awhile. ;)
Have fun finishing up Esther...can't wait. It has been one of my favorite stories in the Bible since I was a little girl.
And God has given you the cutest little reminder of your study.

I loved this! Me and my kiddos (6 and 2) read Psalm 24 before our Special K breakfast this morning, so it is fresh on my mind. My oldest said to my youngest, "You are the Lord's and NEVER forget it!" I had me a spell.

Love you, Beth. I'm praying for you this weekend and a tad upset I can't use the FOUR tickets I have sitting in front of me. I can't make it now and I'm fighting the urge to be really upset about it. My kids need me because my husband now has youth camp to go to which in our house is DADDY'S WORK so we're not about to mess with that. I wish I could bless someone with these tickets!! Any takers???

Have a wonderful weekend! I'm praying.....

Wonderful! Wonderful!

I love picture stories. I have one too. Yesterday, I was talking to my daughter who was frusterated with her 1 yr old son. She was cleaning and he was taking everything out of the trash and throwing it down. I told her that was the Lord speaking there. HE has cleaned us up and we take the trash out to see. I reminded her out sins are in the sea forever stop take it out. :)

Blessings.

I love that analogy. It really paints a picture. I had a daddy that showed me everything but what it means to be a loving fatehr, and I had a hard time relating, not to Jesus, not to the Holy Spirit, but to God the Father. It was in your study God's dwelling place that I learned what it means for God to be my Daddy. Thanks for the reminder.

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.

This is my Father’s world, dreaming, I see His face.
I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise cry, “The Lord is in this place.”
This is my Father’s world, from the shining courts above,
The Beloved One, His Only Son,
Came—a pledge of deathless love.

This is my Father’s world, should my heart be ever sad?
The lord is King—let the heavens ring. God reigns—let the earth be glad.
This is my Father’s world. Now closer to Heaven bound,
For dear to God is the earth Christ trod.
No place but is holy ground.

This is my Father’s world. I walk a desert lone.
In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze God makes His glory known.
This is my Father’s world, a wanderer I may roam
Whate’er my lot, it matters not,
My heart is still at home.

That's a beautiful thought, but His work in my life isn't looking so pretty right now. My pastor really messed up all the positive I was thinking about my life and my future and my kids are not doing anything they're told and they're having a fit about being punished for it, so I can't even think straight. Anybody want a 9 1/2 year old boy who loves baseball so you'll have to watch a lot of ball games, a 7 1/2 year old girl who loves music and art, so she makes a big mess with art projects, and an almost 6 year-old. She's adorable when she's not screaming her head off and she refuses to clean up after herself. But if any of you want them I'm giving them away. In fact, I'll pay you to take them. Whatever money I can scrape up, I'll pay you. I'm kidding really. (I think.)

My sense is that as your students, we need to communciate how much joy and release we receive through your ministry and that we recognize that your "recharging" is your family and friends who surround you. The Journey Continues ~

Beth you sweet thang ~ thank you for bringing your life to a movie book and photo for all of us siesta's. I LOVE how you and your precious girls can make all of us feel as though we are experiencing your stories right along with you.

I arise every morning to pray clarity and compassion over you as you fulfill your gift that our Precious Savior has given you.

I want to share what happened to my 21 year old son this past weekend.

Our son, David was traveling home from Santa Barbara to visit us when he viewed a motorhome broken down on the side of the road. David pulled off on Highway 101 thinking he might "just help". At that time he and another traveler (who had also stopped) noticed smoke and found that a young man age 16 was trapped inside. They kept yelling for the boy to open the stuck door. Apparently, the boys father was able to get out and was in shock while walking around when finally the door unlocked and as David and the other man opened it, found the 16 year old young man on the ground with black smoke inhalation and burned hands and flesh while pulling him out by his feet. David held the young mans head and the other man began to lay him on the side of the highway when David commented " we should move him away from the motorhome" and while they were moving him, David shared that a very hot air was felt behind him and the motorhome exploded. They were far enough away from the flames.
The highway patrol said David did a great job. The young 16 year old was taken by ambulance.

When David arrived at our home, Our 21 year old became a true MAN in hearts.

Life is PRECIOUS so enjoy every single moment with Jackson, your girls, etc.
WE are all a day closer to meeting our SAVIOR!
With "Heaven Bound" Blessings,
Kim ~

Well, when I read the "cattle on a thousand hills" reference I knew I had to post a comment! My husband and I are adopting a child from Russia and we are in the process of trying to raise about $30,000- $40,000 to complete the process. My mom has mentioned that verse to me so many times to encourage me that He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and He just has to sell a few for us to be able to bring our child home! I have to admit, I laugh the thought of that off at times, however, the closer we get and the larger our goal, the more I am learning that it is truth and I have to claim it in order to receive His blessing! So, thank you for that reminder! On a side note, we are beginning the process of doing a cookbook fund-raiser in the next couple of months in order to get us closer to this goal. If anyone would like to offer a recipe to be included we would be so very appreciative! You can email me at rhill1205@gmail.com! To Beth and your sweet family, thank you for allowing God to use you in such mighty ways! I'm blown away by His goodness each and every time I encounter Him through your writings, etc. Wow, this was really too long of a post! :)

What a great reminder that it's all His, and all the women coming are His handiwork.

We'd cherish your prayers.

We're so excited about getting to share with these women how to study God's Word, that we could POP!

Great word - thanks! We just hung a cape buffalo, wildebeast, warthog and kudu on our living room wall scrunched in next to the moose, caribou, mountain goat, king salmon, white-tailed deer that already call the wall home - so all day I've been telling the Lord it's my "Morning of the Sixth Day" (as in, Creation) Wall.

What can I say, girls? I hope I'm not disgusting any of you, but Dead Animals is what a whole lot of us in Alaska consider our decorating style.

So, yes, it is my Daddy's Work (and my husband's pride). It's kind of a collaborative wall, I suppose.

God is awfully good - and would someone please tell me just what He was thinking when He designed the wildebeast??

Warm in Alaska.

That is so great. I bet Jackson is darling, I have one that will be 2 in September.
I have been meaning to tell you I like to watch you on "Today with Beth Moore" and last Wed. you were talking about one of your trips to Africa? (maybe I'm wrong) but anyway you had to go downstairs to the bathroom and the power went out. Anyway, you described how you were scared and then their were hard footsteps coming for you. It was Keith. I loved that story and the hillarious way you told it! It gave me such a image of how God is with me!

Amen! It's all Daddy's work...we are Daddy's work...even the Esther manuscript is your Daddy's work, precious Beth. He began His work and He will be faithful to see it through to its completion. He is never late for work or an important meeting. He is on time and He will be with the completion of Esther...glory to His Name! I believe He foreordained every single "blip" on your calendar to bring you, Beth, closer to His bosom where you can hear His heart beating for His Bride...how He longs for her. Our time of preparation is not complete though...reminiscent of Esther...but soon we will stand before our King. Set your face like a flint heavenward and that manuscript will pour out of you onto the page. May His Name be praised!
We long for you, Jesus.

Oh Beth - thank you so much. I've had a long year with lots of "living" and lots of "new things" and I've been prone to beat myself up about it all:

NEW HOUSE (next door to aging parents...and after 20 years of living in the same one)
NEW BOSS (after 19 years of the same one)
NEW PASTOR (my husband is the church worship leader and we LOVE the new pastor)
NEW DAUGHTER-in-LAW (precious)
NEW GRANDBOY (on the way - can't wait)

So everything has been new - family/home/church/work - all good - but lots of changes - adjustments.

Thank God that it has all been "Daddy's work" and I LOVED THAT analogy - yes, it is the truth beneath all truths.

You are gifted - girl - I said gifted - you take the things of life (husbands, holidays, heartaches, and even hounddogs) and see the things of GOD.

And I love you for it -

I'll share something precious from a four year old at vbs this week. I finished up the cutest little illustration of how differently God sees sin than we do using construction paper and marker (black on black doesn't show up very well...neither do our sins in comparison to those around us. but black marker on white paper shows up clear as day, as is so with God when He compares our sin to His holiness)...then I went into why Jesus came to die on the cross for us and if anyone hadn't put their trust in Jesus but would like to talk to someone now, they could raise their hand. Well, in her boisterous and precious four year old voice, a little girl raised her hand and proceeded to tell me that, "well, now, I trust Jesus but you know what's really hard for me sometimes?" I thought it was going to be spiritual, should've known better. "Going potty. Sometimes that's just hard for me!" Wow, talk about random. I told her we could trust Jesus with it all, even potty, let's just pray!

Amen?

Thanks for the great lesson and reminder!! It is all HIS!! Why do we forget that so easily and think it is ours???

I just finished listening to Nancy DeLeigh Moss teach on Esther on her radio program....Now I look forward to the Esther study from you even "Moore".

I'd like to share something I just read in our local newspaper about how unhappy Americans are. Apparently the wealthier we get the more unhappy we are...it took a study to figure that out. Now the people in China who are getting wealthier and I use that term lightly....are also more unhappy than they were when they were poorer. Of course no where in the article did it mention that money does not buy happiness, even though people continue to expect that. "Heavenly Father deliver us from that thinking and draw us back to you. Fill that empty hole that we so often think the world can fill. Remind us Lord how blessed we are to live in a country established on your laws and values during this freedom celebration time. Draw us back Father. Fill us with "your" love.
In Jesus name. Amen

Best wishes to all of you at LPM and especially to our Siesta Mom.

How appropriate for today. I am sittling at a new desk next to my husbands new desk. He is setting up an office at home and I insisted if it was to be in the guest bedroom it had to be "cute" so I ordered 2 "cute" computer desks from target. Shabby chic...my poor man! But from these desks will come not only peoples taxes, but the Lords work so we will dedicate them to Him, as He owns it all! Just think, God now owns 2 shabby chic white and very cute computer desks...and He still loves me.

Greetings from HotLanta,
I just smiled when I read the blog about your Jackson. I, too (blonde-at least that's my story) have a beatiful dark haired princess, married to a minister and they have a twenty-seven month old. He is the official "King" around here. He dearly loves me, I have no doubt, but lately he's all about "NeeNee"-don't ask, its what he calls his granddaddy. This is NeeNee's house, NeeNee's kitchen, etc. etc. He even said it was NeeNee's ocean this spring when we were in Destin, Florida!!....And no matter where his daddy is, he always says "he's at God's house." Even when he is on the lake fishing as he dearly loves!!
Thank you for sharing your family stories with all of us.

You know what? My husband has really been struggling and having doubt in his faith. He told me the other day that I need to "quit finding God in absolutely everything." One of my sons even chimed in about how "that's like seeing the Virgin Mary in my mashed potatoes."

I was dumfounded that those words came from the mouths of my own family members. I have tried to keep it down a bit, but honestly, I DO see God in everything.

I loved your story about Jackson and his daddy's work. Yes, it is everywhere and in everything!

And if you can indulge me for one more thing. I became a Christian 10 years ago and have done your Bible studies as your children grew up. Mine were growing up at the same time. I related to your stories of the girls and your analogies where you used them. I am very happy that you have another "little one" to help drive the point home!

From the mouth of babes- don't you love it? I also had an experience with my 16 yr old daughter that brought me to tears. We were listening to "I can only imagine" and I said, " When I see Jesus I don't think that I will be able to say a word" and her reply was, " neither will I because He will be hugging me so tight!" Nearly had to pull the car over 'cause just thinking about my baby in Jesus' arms was overwhelming. We can hear Him "from the mouth of babes" sometimes.

Annalou said...

Mamma Beth, I just love how everything points us back to GOD! How precious that is to me.
I'm crying and I don't even know why. Perhaps it's because my daddy was mostly absent and I just LOVE references to God the Father in which I can relate to Him as my DADDY!
Is He not just the BEST! Thank you for such an encouraging word.

Side note: My son (12 years old) said last night, "Mom, I wish everyone could have parents like you and dad. The world would be such a better place. I love you!"
Talk about taking my heart and squeezing it!

What's truly so funny about that is that he's been in so much trouble recently (for typical boy stuff) you'd think that would be the last thing he'd say. He & his sister lost their electronic privileges for the week for fighting and they've gotten along better this week than they have in a long time. How ironic and eye opening!
