Day One

I was so excited to get to talk to my mom today. Those of you who have been to Israel know that the security setup at Ben Gurion Airport is rather challenging after a long flight. My parents hadn't slept and sadly looked upon the long line they were going to have to wait in to have their bags searched. Then they noticed someone who was there to escort some lucky person out of the line into a private security area. The escort was holding a sign and before long they realized it said "Keith and Beth Moore." Want He more praise? They were thrilled, to say the least.

The slept briefly and then headed out for a day of work. I think they did more preparation than actual filming. They ran into several Bible study sisters who were on pilgrimage in Jerusalem. That was probably a lot of fun. When I talked to her she was getting ready to get a good night's sleep. They should be waking up about 10 p.m. our time to get ready for a day of filming. She does not have a female assistant with her to make sure she has every piece of her wardrobe, hairdo equipment, and other necessary things, so please pray that God causes her to remember to bring everything she needs without packing the whole hotel room. Maybe the anointing for that will fall upon my dad.

I wish I had more details for you, but we spent a lot of the time talking about the fact that today was Jackson's first day at Mother's Day Out! He's in a class with children who are a little older than him, so we were eager to discuss how he would do with them. I mean, they sit in little chairs to eat their lunch and they take naps on the floor! My baby has never done those things! But his teachers said he did great and was happy the whole time. There was a little note in his bag telling me what all he had done today. (Even what time he'd had a dirty diaper. That is thorough, people!) I was ridiculously proud and happy reading that he'd had a great day. That's going in the baby book for sure!

Praying that your Mom doesn't have a bad hair day or forget anything she needs for the hairdo and make-up. Any good Southerner knows that a bad hair day is Just a BAD DAY all the way around. Selfishly, I want her to have fantastic days bcs. we will be blessed by these days ourself in the Fall/Winter '07/'08. I will continue to pray that this trip is life changing and a huge blessing for all involved, ultimately bring Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Was hoping to be awakened by the Lord at 2:30 Wed. morning to pray for your parents. Instead it was 4:40. I was disappointed that I had missed the appropriate time; but prayed the same. Only to find out later that God woke me at just the right time, as they were making final preparations to get out the door. Wow!!! What a blessing for me to pray for the family God has used to help me become who I am in Him.

Amanda, also praying that the next week goes good for you and Melissa and the rest of the family. As a mother myself, I know that Beth finds comfort when she calls home and all is well. Cried bcs. it is so sweet to read about Jackson being such a big boy. I still get sad watching mine walk into big school (11&5).

Amanda,

Thank you so much for the updates, not only about your mom, but also your daily private life with Jackson. I've been praying for your mom & dad and the whole team, not only during the times I had selected but also at different times throughout the day & night when they came to mind. I'm so thankful to know they're safely in Israel, and God's grace & favor was there to get them quickly through customs. Isn't God good? We're keeping the whole group covered in prayer during the time they're away from us. Especially for your mom since she's without a personal assistant. Lord, please help her keep her "Texas hair" lookin' good!

So glad to hear about Jackson's first day at Mom's Day Out. I don't have children of my own, but I know this was a big milestone for both you & Jackson. As a sista I hope it's ok to consider him an adopted "nephew", so please give him extra kisses tonight from his extended family.

Thanks for all the peeks inside yours and your mom's life. I love the transparancy. Not only do I see Christ through the transparancy, but there's a connection to know I'm blessed to have wonderful sistas! Thanks for making the daily journey a blast!

Much love & hugs!
Linda

Glad to read they made it safely in and are getting ready to do their work there.
And you, Amanda, are so sweet. I love those "firsts" of everything. Aren't they fun? I'm glad his first day went well, for him AND you! And DEFINITELY put that note in the baby book. :)

gbisThank you Amanda for keeping us posted on your Mom and Dad. I started my committed hour of prayer last night from 11:00 PM to midnight and will do so on each day. What a blessing to do so. Having a night off next Tuesday night from the Wishing Up Study will not mean that your Mom will not be close to the Sistas that attend each week because she will be in our hearts and praying our little hearts out for her, your Dad, you, your family and Melissa.
Just know that you all are so loved and prayed for. Can't wait for the latest updates. I KNOW your Mom will have wonderful stories to share when she gets back! Praise the Lord! :o)

God is so good! I am slotted to pray early in the AM! I am thrilled to participate in this way...we all cant do what you all do over there at LPM...but knowing I have the opportunity to bathe you in prayer is enough!
Thanks so much for updating us Amanda!

'Praying for all the details! So glad that God provided a quick pass through the airport.

Also, I'm so very thankful for Jackson's first day at preschool. These days are so sweet and precious (even when a child bites your child or vice versa, I've had both--seems that it was a good thing that I didn't overreact the first time, so that when my child was the one biting, I didn't feel so bad).

I will be continually praying for your Mom and Dad and the team and you girls. Our women's group at church is headed to Buena Vista for the weekend. It will be a lovely setting to pray.
Love you much,
Holly Smith

It was so good to read the details of "day one" in Israel and and "day one" for Jackson at Mother's Day Out. It sounds as if both have had a terrific day! Praise Him!

I will pray that your mom won't try to take the entire hotel to the taping. I hope she remembers her hair spray and lipstick.

God bless your heart today!

Oh Amanda! There is such a sense of relief when family members arrive safely during travels! I never rest well until I hear they've landed. I pray and pray and pray for their safety and protection.

I, too, started my toddler in MDO this year! Isn't it the neatest! My little boy threw a fit for the first few days & it broke my heart to leave him! I camped out most of the first few weeks in the observatory...isn't it funny to watch your little baby sit & eat lunch with his little friends, and then lay down on the itty bitty mats!! I just had to have my mom & sister camp out with me to watch him interact with all the other little people in his class! We were thoroughly entertained! Well, needless to say it is a fabulous program, and my 2 year old LOVES it. Oh, yes the daily reports they send home with the parents are very thorough! I've saved every one of them! Along with every drawing and craft!

Don't you just love every day of being a mom??!! It's such a hoot!

Love,
Sarah, TN

Thanks so much for sharing all the excitment of your Mom and Dad's trip Amanda. I hope they got a good rest.
You've had some excitement too. It's a big step to leave your little one. I can remember thinking I would never be able to leave my oldest son. Even in church the nursery workers would sneak into church to get me because they just couldn't comfort him. He did outgrow it. He's married and has five precious children of his own. My - how quickly the time goes.

God just gives us what we need and not a moment too soon :o)

Amanda,
So glad to hear your report. I have been praying throughout the day as well as during my time slot.
I signed up for a really early time on the morning they left Houston. I was afraid I might not wake up to the alarm. Well, I didn't need to worry because I woke up about 5 or 6 times that night! Sounds like there were a lot of sleepless Sistas that night! God kept waking us all up to pray for your parents and crew.

I'll add Beth's hair and make-up to my prayer list. We all KNOW what happened last time your dad dressed her for bible study!!!! (Daniel)

I just love this new addition to your website. We used to live in KY and I planned my 2nd child's birth around the conference dates so I could come hear your mom and will never forget it. She said she loved the rustling sound of the pages of the Bible as people turned to a scripture because it sounded like the fluttering of angels wings. I am praying and am SO excited to see this study upon completion. Thank you again and God bless each of everyone of you.

I have been praying for you mom and I am so happy that God sent someone to get them out of that long line in security. Praise \o/ God!!
Amanda, my best friend is the Mother's Day Out Director at our church ( she is the pastor's wife) and they do such a great job with the children. I used to go help her put out their lunches and I would get a kick seeing their little lunch boxes! They really have fun at M.O.D. I remember when I took my 1st born to pre-school on the first day, I asked him if he wanted me to walk with him in the room and he said no, I can do it myself, (aww, that hurt) he got out and his teacher was there to see him to the room. I waited until he got into the room and I parked my car and peeped in the window and watched him for a moment. I fought back the tears. My now 18 year old son just came down stairs and gave me the biggest hug for no other reason than to hug his momma! Can't beat that!!
I will continue to pray for you and Jackson and his time at Mother's Day Out.
I had my roots colored today and my hairdresser told me that BIG hair is coming back with a vengence and I laughed and thought of Beth! I never knew it went out!

Just found this site and am in the process of going through Believing God with some of the ladies at my church. This time last year we were in the midst of A Heart Like His and my mom got sick and eventually passed away. I'm really struggling with Believing God now that Mom is gone and I have twin almost 3 year olds to support (with a loving husband, mind you) but it's just not the same without my mom. You girls are blessed.

Congratulations on a successful first MDO, Amanda and Jackson! I remember feeling much the same way when my daughter started preschool, but of course it went off without a hitch! Prayer has been continuous here, too... my first thought waking up has been your mom, dad, and all those precious people in their company. I prayed this morning that their day today would be fruitful, and would carry them forward purposefully and filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much for the updates, Amanda... I checked in frequently yesterday to see if you'd heard from them. Looking so forward to the next one! Praise our Father for keeping them in His loving care!

Chuckling at the thought of Keith being annointed to remember her hairdo things and lipstick!! I think of how my own husband would consider those thing and just laugh to myself!! (He is rather "outdoorsy", too.)

I'm praising our sweet Father that they have arrived safely and with relative ease. I'll continue to pray for His mighty work on this trip and for their safe return home.

Your writings about Jackson are so sweet. I would SO be scrapbooking that first note from MDO. It's an amazing time in both your lives. Thanks so much for sharing him with us.

Hey Amanda, do you think you could ask your moma what the weather there has been like and let us know? I have never been to Israel, but have quite a big picture painted in my mind and would love some more details to add to this. It helps me when I pray to picture what it might look like there and almost makes me feel like I am right there physically as well spiritually. Y'all are just so cool to share all this with us.

Isn't God so good!

My Mary (6years old) read a church sign that said "Mother's Day Out". She said, "That's so mean!" "They don't want to have Mother's DAY!"

So glad Jackson had a very good day! So glad all is well in the Land Beautiful and here at home too.

Amanda - By all means add the Mother's Day Out note to Jackson's baby book. You have no idea how much fun it will be to read years from now ... for you AND him!

I am 61 years old and included in my baby book is a list my mother wrote of the things she would need to pack for my first trip out of town (from St. Augustine to Jacksonville) at 3 weeks old. It's quite interesting to see what all was required in those years before everything was so "disposable".

Can you imagine Jackson at 61 years old enjoying the things you wrote in his baby book? I'm sure my mother couldn't have thought that far ahead when she made her entries either. My favorite quote in my baby book is: At 20 mos - upon receiving second helping of pancakes, Beverly raises her hands and says "Praise the Lord! More pancakes!" What a hoot!

Baby books are a wonderful link to your "heritage" and even when you are old and gray they serve to remind you how loved you were as an infant and how blessed you were to be given a mother who recorded all your milestones.

You are such a loving and tenderhearted young mom, Amanda. I dearly LOVE reading the comments you share about Jackson!

Wow -- God is working on all of us to stand in the gap in prayer.

I was awoken in the middle of the night (random time for me to awake) and the first thing that came to mind was to pray for Beth and the team. It would have been 10:48 am Israel Time. God did not allow me to return to sweet sleep for about an hour.

Thanks for the updates so that we can pray wisely and boldly!!

Jesus is so pleased with the prayers of his people -- we really are all in this spiritual family together!!!

I am praying for your Mom & Dad and the team with them in the Land I just discovered they are there! I traveled to Israel in September/October of 2000, around the time of Yom-Kippur and Sukkot. The Holy Spirit began to move in me while I was there. But it wasn't until my little Jackson was born a year later and began taking longer naps in the afternoons that the Lord began to reveal what He had begun to write on my heart and soul while I was in Israel. It was then that I had time to sit in stillness and drink in God's Word and then that I began to realize He had given me a heart and a passion that beats wildly to this day for Eretz Israel and the chosen people of God. I still am uncovering all that this means...

I would return to Israel in a heartbeat...my children (now 5 and 2 1/2) already ask us when will take them! When I think of all the places I would choose to return to, two stand out above the rest...En Gedi and the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem. I remember walking into one of the gates of the Old City and our leader reading Psalm 122 (a song of ascent!)...

I can only imagine how much your parents love being together in the Land upon which God has written His name. I remember the distinct feeling of being covered by His Hand while we were there...there was no fear. That is my prayer for them as well - along with Exodus 23:20.

In His Unfathomable Love,
Amy

P.S. Can't wait to hear from your Mom at the conference in Columbia, SC in a couple of months!

Sarah the prayer Warrior said..... Gosh very cool about the special security for your mom and dad. It must mean they are celebrities in the Holy Land, and the good Lord knew how tired they were. It is so awesome how the Lord's hand is working in their lives from the moment they left. God is sooooooooooo good!!! I chuckled with the comment you made about your dad been the guy to help your mom with all her makeup and hair things. I don't know him but if he's like my husband then he'll need some prayer.
That must have been so hard for you leaving Jackson. I ran a daycare out of my home for many years and the hardest thing was the mom's who had never left their children anywhere, how hard it was for them to leave. I always wrote them notes of how their days went. It is so good to be informed and they could phone whenever they wanted.
Thanks for all the time you have spent informing all of us. I know it is a huge blessing to me.

We believe He is able to do that which we have committed to Him - we praise you Father!

And Amanda - so precious of you to share your Jackson details with us. I love little ones! Thank you. And I had to smile regarding the comment for an anointing to fall on your Dad with respect to filling in (so to speak) for your Mom's assistant. I thought back to the days when my Mom was unable to be there on some early school mornings, and my Dad was left in charge to 'dress' my sister and me. We would end up with our ruffled bloomer panties on backwards, attempted ponytails with mountain-sized 'bumps' swept into it, a forgotten/hidden roller underneath my long hair, or tears that our outfits were not 'pwetty' :) I vote for your Mom packing the hotel room!
