Headed to the Holy Land

Sometimes people ask me, "Is it ever hard to be Beth Moore's daughter?" Well, this is one of those times. My mom is teaching Bible study tonight and then around 2:30 in the morning she and my dad will get picked up to go to the airport. They are flying to Israel to tape some segments for the Psalms of Ascent study. It is painful for me to think about how tired she is going to be as she boards that flight. And then to have jet lag on top of that once she arrives in Israel. So here I am asking you all to please pray for my parents, especially my mom. I hope I don't sound whiny. My heart is just very tender because I love her so much and I know that she is coming off a very exhausting month. Tears are welling up in my eyes right now. Do you remember having that feeling as a child when the babysitter arrived and your mom was getting to walk out the door and you cried, "Mommy, don't go!" That is the feeling I have right now. And yes, I am 27 years old! Alright, now that I've cried about it I feel better. I know that I can trust the Lord with my parents. He will show Himself faithful as He always has.

There is a prayer sign up on our LPM home page if you're interested. We won't hear much from Beth for the next week, but I promise to keep you updated as I get the opportunity to talk to her on the phone. In the meantime, I'd love to hear if any of you have been to the Holy Land and, if so, what was the one thing that you'd like to see or do again? If you haven't been yet, tell me what you would like to see or do one day.

I sent a comment, but wasn't sure (the connection got lost). I just said that I was praying for your Mom (to have strength, energy, not to feel like she got hit by a mack truck and her voice to stay strong). I said also that I knew that if she got over there and lost her voice, I'm sure your dad would read the script if he had to. Finally, I said I'd pray for you and Melissa to feel His peace as your parents are away (He doesn't give as the world gives, for sure).
Love in Him,
Holly
PS Sorry if this is a repeat!

I have already been praying for your mom! I can't get the task ahead of her off my mind. She is a friend since we have trekked so many miles on this pilgrimage together. I will keep praying for all of you! LORD, please protect Beth, Keith, and the whole team traveling to Israel. God I pray that no weapon forged against them will prevail. I pray that you would give them supernatural energy...and that they would live and keep in step with the Spirit the whole way. LORD we just ask in Jesus name that you would cause this to be one of your greatest works with these studies yet! Father I pray for sweet supernatural rest as well. Please engulf the place where she is teaching tonight with YOU...and then more of You. I pray that you would remove all distractions and discouragement from each person. Show up in power Jesus and we will give You all the praise and glory. God thank you for Beth, Keith, Amanda, Curt, Jackson, and Melissa! Consume them with your Holy fire and give them each sweet joy in Your Presence. I am so thankful to see a family who believes you. Protect them from every evil attack. Thank you that you are already there in Israel and that you are not limited by time or space. Be glorified in them and do an all accomplishing work that only you can do! I thank you for Beth she has been my mother in the faith and I am tendered to by how she has served You by serving me. In Jesus' MIGHTY name. Amen!

PS I wanted to go to Israel on my honeymoon 4 years ago...but my man said NO! He had a broken back and was not about to have me gone by myself touring the Holy Land. I am believing God that one day I will go...Psalm 37:4! I would just love to tour everywhere!!

Much love-

Sweet Amanda, You have a tender heart. Let it be a comfort to you that so many will be prayer warriors for your parents. I would love to pause by the well where Jesus ministered to the Samaritain woman and told her about the Living Water. May your parents have a time of true "refreshment" if they get to that spot!

Oh Amanda!!! I wish she could pack me in her bags!! My husband and I went to Israel in May of 2000 and it was the trip of a lifetime. The bible came to life in ways I never expected!! To walk where Jesus walked and get a grasp of locations/distances was incredibly powerful.Caesarea by the Sea was a favorite. Floating in the Dead Sea. Visiting the Garden Tomb, Masada, Capernaum, the Western Wall, the steps outside of Ciaphas' home, and the Pavement. I'd go back tomorrow if I could. I would LOVE to go with your Mom. She should plan a Sistahs trip -- sign me up -- what a blast!! Your Mom and Dad are heading to Holy Ground Sister! Thank you for letting us know -- Praying Praying!! Emma Kate

I am in a christian capella group at school and a lot of us are stressed out the wazoo as most college students are!! This past Sunday we talked about what it means to truly REST IN THE LORD. We realized that most of us were worried (and restless) more about the thought of not getting sleep, than we were stressed about getting our work done.
So I pray that Mama Beth (and Papa Keith) will find their rest in the Lord during these next few crazy days. I know that the Lord will be faithful to provide them exactly what they need when they need it--and not a moment too soon or too late.
He has begun an amazing work in them both, and will be faithful to complete it!! :)

...and Miss Amanda you know where to find us if you get a little ancy (sp?) or need some encouragement :)

Will be praying for your parents this week. I'm signed up for the 5 am time slots on several of the days...what a priviledge to be able to pray for you all while I'm having my quiet time with Jesus!
I realized last Tuesday night during our Bible Study that Beth will be getting home just a couple of days before she flies into San Francisco. Oh, how I wish I were going, but just couldn't financially swing the price of the ticket. I did make hotel reservations and everything, but just couldn't swing the ticket. But there is a group of ladies from our Tues. night study that will be there!

Hey, when are you guys bringing the LPL conference back to Fresno? We were SO BLESSED to have Beth here last year....would LOVE to have her back!

Blessings,
Lori

Amanda,
I will be lifting your parents up in prayer as they leave tomorrow and early every morning while they're there. (I don't know what time it will be in Israel.)
I do hope that Beth is planning some "down time" when she returns. If I had a schedule like she's had the last month, I'd be in a heap on the floor!
Just know they are being covered in prayer during their time in Israel.

I have never been but I can guarantee that I will walk the streets of Jerusalem some day. One day I will return on a white horse dressed in white linen following Jesus on his white horse and I will see the city where he will rule and reign forever and ever. If I get to visit before then, I would love to see the mountains where he spent the evenings in prayer with his father.

My husband and I haven't gone to the Holy Land yet, but it is our goal to make it there someday. He's about to go back to Iraq and he even mentioned taking his mid-tour leave in Israel--if I could fly out to meet him. I want to see it all. I want to take in everything. I want to touch the soil and the wailing wall. I want to smell the air. Jesus is right here with me, but wouldn't it be fun to see where he spent his time on earth as the Son in the flesh? I'm praying for your Mom and I can't wait for the Psalms study.

Dear Amanda,
A group of us at my church is praying for your mom and dad as they travel to Israel. We will pray the specific prayer requests mentioned on the Website. We are learning to hold up our shield of faith in the Believing God study we will hold it up on behalf of this team.

We will pray for you and your family while your parents are away.

I spoke with a friend who has been to Israel and asked her what she would like to see if she ever went back. She said she would go back to Golgotha, to the Garden tomb (it's empty!!!), and to Lazarus' tomb.

Love to all, in Christ

Amanda, Your precious parents are going to get to experinece the trip of a lifetime and you know they are in the Best of Hands! No, I have never been to the Holy Land, but just to walk on the very dirt that Jesus did and see the sights that He saw would be enough for me to board a plane and fly the long, exhausting trip. I am sure your parents will experience a burst of energy like no other. May they have the best of travel and until their heads are safely on their very own pillows, we will coat them in prayer...you as well!

oh, Amanda, I can relate...my mom (who lives near by) went to CA (from NC) for business for 2 weeks...it's not Isreal, but it felt like it since she was so far! She too was exhausted and did not get to take my dad ( he had to work here), but the Lord did return her to us and she had a very restful weekend! I will (with many others, I'm sure) be praying especially for your mom! I know she will draw her strength from the Lord...as I'm sure she has had to do so many times! I will also be praying for you and Melissa!
I've never been to Isreal..but what a gift it would be to get to spend even a day there!! I'd love to walk where my Savior walked!!
Love to you!!

One thing that just about everyone does when they go to Israel is to go out on a boat on the Sea of Galilee. It was one of my favorite things...to be out on the lake and looking around, thinking about all the accounts in the Gospels of Jesus around the Sea of Galilee, the miracles He performed, the lessons He taught while in that region. I hope you all will get to go someday. The experience changed the way I read the Bible.

I don't know Amanda. I've never been there. I think I'd like to feel the coolness of the dirt where Jesus walked. Let the same dirt get in between my toes. I would like to feel the scorching heat at high noon and imagine being before the Lord Himself offering me my portion of Living Water. I think I might have to guzzle that down a while. I would love to go out on a fishing boat and feel the rocking waves that the disciples felt. I would like to gather five smooth stones from the stream where young David gathered his. I would most certainly ask the Lord to do His Work to slay giants in my life. Praise You Lord for doing it now!

Well, Amanda...I think I just traveled there in my heart. Thanks for the invitation to do so. I will pray for your Mom and Dad. You too...it's hard to hold down the home front too. I'll pray for extra rest with each time they go to sleep, extra delight in each thing they explore and take in. Safe travels and smooth transactions with each stop/security site.

Hugs! Robyn

To the sweet sister in VA who is on EST, I signed up for the 7am CST so we've got it covered. I am praying that while Beth and Keith are up there in the heavens (a little closer to God) as I have heard her say, that He will touch them so mightily they feel as if they could run a marathon. Lord Jesus, my sister Beth and crew need your touch and divine protection, be there Lord waiting for them when they arrive. Thank You Jesus that You are our Strength in times of weakness!

To all my sisters, look at the web site and sign up to pray. Our sister needs to be lifted up and after that incredible word she delivered to us Saturday, is this not the very least we can do??

Remember Matt. 18:19 says "Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever{anything and everything} they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven."
Let's make a symphony before the Lord for our precious, humble sister Beth and her dear family!

Amanda, what a sweet spirit and powerful prayer warrior you must be for your parents. i'll certainly be lifting them up and confess my longing (if not coveting) to be back in that amazing convenant land. A few of my favorite places would be prayer-walking around the old town walls, meditating at the Garden Tomb, hiking up to the En Gedi water falls, and resting beside the Sea of Galilee. May the Lord continue to powerfully speak through Beth, thwarting all attacks, doubts and distractions, in His Almighty strength, bringing all glory to His name.

My trip was powerful, standing on the Mt. of Olives and looking across the Kidron Valley was something. Traveling through the Jordan Valley and seeing the variety of fruit trees was spectacular, but communion in the garden by the Tomb did me in. Communion will never be the same for me. I must tell you, the photo of me floating in the Dead Sea was definitely a Kodak moment.
Our trip also took us to Ephesus and Patmos, so I have been blessed beyond measure! Praise Him!
I'll be praying for your parents and I'm sure the Lord's hand will be upon them.
Look forward to seeing your mom in Columbia in April and Boone in May.
Joy in serving Him, BK

Hey Amanda! I'll be praying for you. My dad travels a lot, too, around Asia, the Middle East and other corners of the globe taking the Gospel and working with underground believers and others - and, I hate to tell you, it doesn't get any easier. But (and I'm sure you'll agree) what a priviledge for our parents to be at a stage and season of their lives when they are able to travel and bless others with Jesus.

Okay: may I just say I loved your shout out for fond memories of Israel. I first went to Israel twenty years ago as a college student and straightway fell in love with the country and the people - Jews and Arabs alike. Then, a couple years later when the Lord got my attention and I started to take Him at His word, literally, He so graciously let me go back again and again, dragging my family and friends with me. If I was going to love Israel, they were too!!

So, while I have all sorts of weird little stories about taking friends and praying all over the City, here's two of my favorites. One night, on a trip I took by myself, I decided to stay up all night praying at the Western Wall. It was in December and did little Miss Alaska think to bring a decent coat? I fear not. Oh well, between the Holy Spirit, the Holy Scriptures, and some seriously strong Turkish coffee I prayed through the night This trip was back in 1989. During that entire month, when I'd ask the Lord to impress my heart with what to pray, He would usually lead me to Jeremiah 31:10 and I'd pray the word "gather" - as in

"Hear the word of the Lord, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: 'He Who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over His flock like a shepherd.'"

I'd pray "gather" for ten minutes or so and then check back in with the Lord, "What next, Lord?" But I just kept sensing "gather." So, for the month of December 1989 I sat in front of the Wall, shivering in my frozen flesh - but fired up with the truth of God's word, praying "Gather, gather Lord, gather those you've scattered."

Of course the rest of the story is that during the daytime, I'd walk over to West Jerusalem to Jaffa Street to munch on a bagel, drink more coffee and read the International Hearald where news of the Berlin Wall coming down and Jews from Russia, for the first time, en mass in almost seventy years, were being allowed to leave Russia, many of them coming to Israel.

In my heart I was jumping up and down: "Look Lord, are you getting this? How exciting that I'm praying this all over the City and at the Wall - and then look, Lord, did you see the paper today??"

How sweet of our God to let a naive 23 year old from the other side of the world join in with prayers prayed through the centuries for His people to be brought back to their homeland (now I'm just a naive 41 year old. Smile).

Well, I didn't even get to the funny memories - but I'm sure I've taken up way too much space already - and now I REALLY have to scoot to make my "chicken, vegetable, peanut butter soup" (ohh, yummy!)for dinner.

Ciao, Girls!

I could not even imagine what it is like to have the schedule your mom has and anything she does she puts her whole heart into and I have been thinking about her today and praying for her. I know God will protect your parents and give your mom the strength she needs as she travels and as they film. I will be praying for you and Melissa while your parents are gone. I have never been to the Holy Land but my family and friends were talking about this in December. We wanted to take the tour with David Jeremiah. After taking the Jesus One and Only study I have wanted to go so badly. I would want to go to the Garden of Gethsemane because Jesus went there so many times to be alone to pray. That is where he found his strength, from his Father. We all have our special places that we pray and have our quiet time and I have mine and I would want to see where Jesus prayed.

Father God, I lift up Beth and Keith to you right now and I am asking for supernatural strength for both of them. I pray that you will give Beth an abundance of energy as she travels and during her taping schedule. I pray that even though she will not get much sleep tonight that when she awakes that she will feel like she slept a solid 8 hours. I ask that you shield them with a hedge of protection that the enemy cannot break through and God please delight Beth every day that she is there and bring them back safely. I pray they will have no trouble at their hotels, during taping, with their flights and bless all the food and what they drink. Give Amanda and Melissa a peace that passes all understanding and protect them and meet all their needs. I pray protection over Sunny and Beanie in their absence and I am asking you do super add to anything they may need and manifest the great things that you have already prepared for Beth that her eyes have not seen, ears heard or mind conceived but that you reveal that to her by your Spirit. In Jesus' sweet and powerful name I pray. Amen!
Love,
Patty

It's exhausting just watching her! We will continue to pray for her strength and safety.I'm still getting calls from women who attended last Saturday. The blessings are overflowing. Our God is Amazing!

You can count on my prayers, I went to Greece for the taping and know what a crazy schedule they keep your mom on. I went to Israel in the Spring of 2000 and will never be the same. In our preperations our pastor had asked the group what was the one thing we wanted to see most, for me it was Jacob's well. It is a long story but in short it is that passage in John 4 that the Lord used to bring me back to him after a long peroid of sin. It didn't look good to be able to make the stop, but I kept praying. The morning we were heading out of the Sea of Galilee area my pastor came to me and said that the guide thought it would be safe for us to make a quick stop. It was amazing, when were at the well site all I could do was cry, knowing that my Savior had possibly drawn water for a woman just like me at a spot just like that. The pastor lowered the bucket and asked our group if anyone would like to draw up the water, I wanted to but was unable to speak. My Sunday school teacher and dear friend said "I think Mary does". It was the most unbelievable moment in my life. Praise God for The Living Water.
I love you all
Mary

Last year, our family flew overseas after a very hectic month. We knew we had a long layover...but we didn't know the "airline lounge" would have those great massage chairs! After 30 minutes of being pummeled by that chair, I felt so much better. We'll pray that the Lord provides a nice surprise blessing for your folks!

Sweet Amanda, your post here made *me* teary eyed! Glory to God for the tender heart He has provided you! :)

I am planning a trip to the Holy Land *next* May (2008) and I can tell you this: I cannot WAIT! I literally want to place my feet on the each of Jesus' footsteps. Nazareth, CApernaum, Jerusalem... I truly cannot wait.

....and how awesome would it be for the Sistas to organize a trip there together?!?! Seriously now! I think it would be fantastic and *truly* life-changing!!

Father: please keep Your protective Hand over Beth and Keith as they embark on this journey to Your land. Please, Father, help them and keep them safe in all aspects of their travel: from their flight, to their stay in Israel, to Beth's taping session, and to their return home. Thank YOu for allowing Beth to continue to carry Your message in awesomely inspiring ways such as this taping in Israel will provide. And, Father, I pray for Amanda, Curt, Jackson and Melissa: Lord, please help them remain tranquil in the knowledge that Beth and Keith are safe in Your Hands. In Jesus' Holy, Glorious Name I pray. AMEN.

I love it that I get to be part of the next study on Psalms! Thank you for this letting us know where she is and giving us the opportunity to pray for Beth. Not only is it a thrill to pray for your parents - real time - it will also be a thrill when I do the Psalms study and remember that I got to pray and be part of the Bible study as it was being produced!! God is good - all the time!!

A friend of mine traveled there quite a few years ago and did all the things we as believers would love to do. As they were walking the "Road to Emmaus" they were stopped by two little boys asking where they were going and for money. They told the boys they were walking were Jesus Christ walked. One boy asked, "who is this Jesus?” They were convicted so much that they prayed all the way back for the people who live where Jesus lived and have never heard of Him. That story still touches me today.
Praying for the Beth, Keith, and the LPM team.

Amanda,
I'm one of beth's prayer warriors and I wanted you to know I'llbe praying for your mom and dad on this trip to Israel. I pray for safety, and that she'll have the strengh to do what the Lord wnats her to do. I'll pray for you as well that the week will go fast and that you will be used for good in God. I'd love to go to the Holy land and walked where the great one did. If not I'll get to walk with him in heaven. It is such an honor and blessing to be part of this blog. Have a blessed day

I understand how you're feeling. My husband is going to Africa in April and instead of going for two weeks - we just found out this week that he has the opportunity to stay for a month!! He feels God leading him and wanting him to do this. My heart cries - but how can I tell him to stay simply because I will have a hard time without him?
God will be faithful to those He sends and those of us who stay behind...

We were able to be in the Holy Land in 2001. It was the time of my life. We walked where Jesus walked...it was such an emotional time and we had a 'surprise' trip to Jacob's well that was no surprise to God....we actually drank water from the well. Words cannot begin to describe the emotions and feelings that happened during that 10 day trip, but suffice it to say, I will never be the same again. My husband and I want to return someday. Amazing! If you can ever go, it is truly a place where you feel the Bible come to life. Now when I read I have a visual to go with it.

Amanda,
I have been to Israel 4 times... the jetlag is not bad going that direction. I always have a much harder time coming home than going. Please know that your folks are going to be great. I am praying for them and for you also. Funny, my daughter always frets over my going also. It is a very safe place -- so much safer than the media would like us to think. The last time I went with just two other ladies and we didn't even have a tour guide. 2005. It was my best trip yet. I love the land, the people and God's hand was on us from start to finish. I know your mom and dad will be ready for every divine appointment. Blessings on you and I pray special peace and comfort over you. covering you'all with prayer. Janet

I went to the Holy Land back in 1979 when I was newly married and my husband and my mom, dad, & three sisters went too. That in itself was wonderful.
It's so hard to pin point just one thing or place that stood out more than the rest. I loved the dead sea, the empty tomb, taking communion in the Garden, witnessing people being baptized in the Jordan River... but I think the place I love best is the Sea of Galilee. We took a boat ride and sang songs and hymns. I could see why Jesus loved Galilee and spent so much time there.
I will pray for your mom & dad for their protection, peace & favor with God and man.
Keep in mind Isaiah 26:3 "He will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him."
I'm so close to my mom and my newly married daughter. I talk to both of them several times a day. It's a huge blessing to be close like that and I never take it for granted.
God bless you....you sweet daughter and mother!
