My Favorite Month
I love February. I love walking into just about any store and seeing pink and red decorations. I love all the balloons and glittery, red heart stickers. I love seeing Valentine's candy and racks of Hallmark cards. I love all the festive melamine plates at Target. These things make me smile, but perhaps not for the obvious reason. All of these things mean February and, for me, February means babies! In this month is buried a treasure chest of my most precious memories and emotions, namely anticipation, desperation, excitement, fear, pain, longings fulfilled, relief, insecurity, overwhelming love, exhaustion, and joy.
Both of my children will celebrate their birthdays this month. Annabeth turns one THIS WEDNESDAY. *Tear* And Jackson will turn four on the 17th. He can hardly wait. I told him this morning that it's his birthday month and I totally confused him. He keeps asking me if his birthday is here yet and wondering where his presents are!
Jackson has changed so much over the last few months. I'm loving the stage we're in and I think age four is going to be a blast. Age two was a huge struggle. Age three was better but still pretty challenging. As we approach age four I'm enjoying motherhood more than ever.
There were many times in the last two years that I wondered why on earth I ever thought I had what it takes to be a mom. I loved my kids but felt totally inadequate for the job. I could cry thinking about it. Those difficult times when I felt like I did nothing but discipline Jackson all day long are starting to pay off. Those times aren't fun for anyone. No one has kids because they want to boss them around all day long, do they? But I kept hearing that consistency bears fruit. In this moment we're getting to enjoy some of that fruit. I'm not trying to give parenting advice, but I do want to encourage moms who are feeling like I did. This sounds so trite and it didn't help much when people said this to me either, but hang in there and know that it gets better!
I got on here to talk about February and I obviously got a little off course!
Tell me, Siestas, what is your favorite month and why?
I'm making my friend Sunni's wonderful enchiladas for Annabeth's birthday party. I thought you might like to have the recipe.
Sunni's Cheesy Enchiladas
Ingredients:
(I always half this recipe)
24 flour tortillas
2 lbs. ground beef
2 lbs. Velveeta, cubed
2 cans Rotel tomatoes
4 (8-oz.) cartons sour cream
¼ cup butter
2 med. onions, chopped
1 dash garlic salt
Salt & pepper to taste
Brown meat with one chopped onion. Add garlic salt and salt and pepper. Drain. Coat large sauce pan with non-stick spray. Add sour cream and tomatoes, mix well. Add butter and heat on medium heat. Add Velveeta, stirring constantly. Add the remaining chopped onion. Turn heat to low and simmer for about 5 min. The cheese/butter should be melted by this point. Add a portion of the sauce to meat. Spoon meat mixture into tortillas. Lay in casserole dish, seam down. Pour remaining sauce over enchiladas. Cover and bake for 15 min. at 350 degrees.
*I like to save a little bit of the cheese sauce to have with tortilla chips. Yum!

I love November. I love fall and it's my birthday month as well as Thanksgiving which is my favorite holiday. Just thinking about it makes me long for that sweet family time and delicious food. I love fall colors and celebrating all that we have to be thankful for.
My favorite month is definitely May. It's my birthday month, but there's more to it than that. Up here in Michigan Spring only flirts with us in the months of March and April, but by May it's really nice. The days are noticeably longer, the grass is green again, and the trees are budding. No matter how nasty or raining our winter and *official* Spring days are, by my birthday it's always beautiful, and I have a double reason to celebrate.
I love May...our wedding anniversary is in May, but I also LOVE celebrating my mommy. :) AND, it's the end of the school year and unofficial start to summer!!!
And you are right about 4...FOUR IS FABULOUS!!! It was such a fun year after the two's and three's!
Blessings,
stephanie
My favorite month is October.
First of all because my birthday is in October.
Also because I love to see the beautiful colors of all the leaves changing, the cooler weather after a long hot summer and celebrating harvest time! The hay rides and pumpkins and all that goes with that time of year. It's such a happy feeling!
My favorite month is November! I love the fall colors, leaves falling all the harvest smells. Pumpkins, apple cider and it's MY birthday month! Not to mention Thanksgiving, where our families all get together and eat and enjoy eachothers company.
I have two favorite months, if that is possible...February and March. We have a lot of birthdays and our wedding anniversary within those two months. I agree, I love the red and pink everywhere too. The candy is nice as well!
I loved your comment, "No one has kids because they want to boss them around all day, do they?" Brings to mind a conversation I had with my oldest daughter a few years ago. She is bossy (comes naturally being the oldest) and we were trying to think of things she could do in her adult life that would use her "natural leadership skills." I suggested things like managing a company or being a teacher. She didn't like those ideas, so I asked her what she wanted to do. Her response, "I want to be a mom so I can boss my kids around all day." Direct quote. I laughed so hard and then thought, "Does she really think that's what I do all day - just boss her and her sisters around?" I sincerely hope not.

I love May for the same reason you love February...it is the month that I became a mother. Not only is Grace's birthday in May but so is my own mama's and my great-grandmother's.
Living in Ohio, May is also the month that Spring is really evident here. Everything is so green and the flowers are blooming! It's so beautiful!
However, I also love October (and not just because it's my birthday month). I love the changing of the leaves and football season. I love when the temperature starts changing and I get to pull out my long sleeve shirts. Love pumpkins, caramel apples, and everything else associated with fall. It too is absolutely beautiful!
I love October for no other reason than the weather and the beautiful colors of fall. But, August is mine, my son's, and other family members birthdays. It is a fun month of celebration. :)
I love May. It's the month of our anniversary (this year will be 29), it was always the month we finished up homeschooling for the year and had a whole summer stretching ahead of us, and it isn't too stifling here in south Texas in May. Warm but still a little breezy. Actually this question was a little harder to answer than I thought it would be. Lots of good months! Enjoy your February!
My favorite month is October. I love the fall in Michigan. Even though I moved from there this past year, I will make sure I go back every year to go to the cidermill with my 4 sons. We have a tradition we have kept since they were little boys..a visit to the cidermill. My sons are 29, 27, 25 and 23 and when we go to the apple orchard they turn into little boys chasing each other through the cornstalk maze, running up and down the 20ft haystack..going in the haunted barn..hayride..eating 2 dozen donuts and cider etc...I get to watch all this and love it.
What a fun post Amanda! That is so cute how Jackson seems afraid he has missed his birthday... Too sweet. My kids are two years apart, and the year they were four and two, it seemed like all I ever did was discipline them and break up their fights. Happily they do move on past that stage.
My favorite month is December. I love the whole Christmas season, which lasts the entire month, and that is the month of my oldest child's birthday as well as our anniversary on New Year's Eve.
Much love,
Adrienne

I love July! The beginning of summer when I am so excited to have my kids home and to hang out with them- not nag them about homework.
Four and five are such fun ages for boys.
My favorite month is JUNE. June 5 was my parent's anniversary and the day I graduated from high school. My anniversary is June 7 and my birthday June 16. It's also the month of Father's Day, Flag Day and the First day of Summer. And here in Minnesota, it's the most beautiful month. It's finally warm and everything is blooming and growing. I LOVE JUNE!

I love May, when everything is green and fresh. I am a November baby who has contended for a long time that I should have been a May baby. I have also thought that we northerners could just skip January and February and have two each of September and May. There just always seems to be so much going on in September and May without enough time to get it all in.
Those cheesy enchiladas sound wonderful. I will file that recipe when I need to take something when my allergic hubby isn't along.
Four is awesome. I love four.
I don't know which is my favorite month. I never thought about it. April? I love it when it's totally spring and no threat of cold.
And thanks for the recipe. Sounds yummy.
I love July! Here in the Pacific Northwest summer doesn't start until after July 4. We start to get some really warm weather and the garden gets a real kick in the hiney. All of the summer foods are getting ripe and the evenings are perfect for sitting out in the evenings. If you ever plan a vacation here, do it the last two weeks of July through the first two weeks of August. Perfection!
I love February, too, because it's my birthday month, and it just feels special. But I also love July due to a great deal of family fun and memories associated both with Independence Day and my mom's birthday. Although, now that I think of it, I can find something pretty special about every month ... I love a "New" month!
February is my favorite month too! My anniersary is in February -- 20th this year -- and for all the other reasons you listed. Plus in Alabama, spring begins to peek in here and there during February. Today it's 60 and sunny!
ttfn, J
I like July because it's my birthday month. Summer, beach and fireworks.
I too love February...it's MY birthday month...plus valentines is SO fun...heart cookies with my kids! Plus as a mama of boys, February gives me an excuse to put out cute PINK decorations!!! :) it's the small joys! :)
I love December because of Christmas! I love Christmas decorations, Christmas gifts, the excitement of my girls, and the great smells!
And I love June because school is out. (As a homeschooling mom, I'm as ready for a break as my girls are!) And because two of my girls were born in June.
And I love July because my other two girls were born in July. And last year and this year I love July because I get to go to Student Life camp and hear Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin, and the David Crowder Band!
February for sure!!! My babies 9th birthday is on Valentines Day!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Blessing of a Month!!
I am a February girl. Two of my children are born on Valentine's day so it is an extra special month for me. I also love celebrating Valentine's Day with my sweet husband. He's the greatest!!!
My favorite month is March. The first day of Spring and the month my husband and I were married!!
July is my favorite month! Lots of birthdays of ones i love (and mine too!) and we have a huge famiy reunion every 4th of July! It is such a blast and super cheesy! Which is why I love my family!

Oh, I am in good company, because today is my birthday! So, yes, I think February is very special. My granddaughter is here with me today, and we are celebrating with lots of hugs and kisses. I received new pictures of my grandsons in the mail, and they are always in my heart even though we live far apart. My rebirth month is June, when I accepted Jesus 23 years ago, so that is extra special, too.
Your words about parenting are an encouragment to moms (and dads) who feel the same way. It is a tough task, the hardest thing you will ever do, and even though it doesn't always feel like it, you really are doing a good and godly job; I know this because you care enough to share openly and honestly about how hard it is.
In fact, right now, little Maya is getting into things and I need to go! (She is 21 months old and loves to explore!!) Who knows if what I have just written makes any sense!
I hope your February is a wonderful month!
I love September! It's my birthday month (does that make me self-absorbed?). I also love it because the temps are cooler and we're heading for Fall which always makes me happier. I love the smells and the colors. Wow .. .making me wish for September.
Happy Birthday Sweet Annabeth and Jackson!
May is the month that God did a wonder and revealed His deep love for me in an amazing way. Sixteen years ago in May, God gave me my first born, a daughter on Mother's Day; then three years later, He gave me my second child, a son born again on Mother's Day. God is so absolutely awesome.

I love May! Its my birthday, mother's day, and anniversary all i one month. Plus its so nice and WARM!!
Amanda, I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't tell you what a joy it was to spend time with your kiddos. They are both SO delightful. Annabeth is just darling and squeezable. And Jackson is so much fun!
I really do think you'll love four. Nina and I are having the best time!
And I think I love May most. I love, love, love Spring!
October...I love the fall, plaid shirts, pumpkins, pumpkin candles, apple cider, leaves turning, the air changing, the excitement of three holidays approaching and FOOTBALL!
Jera
I love October. It is our wedding anniversary, football season, and I mostly love to see the changing leaves. Here in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, nothing is more beautiful! And I love to step on the leaves and hear them crunch!
Oh Amanda, your post could not have come at a more perfect time! I just got through a major meltdown with my 3 year old (not even an hour ago) and I thought to myself "this can't be what mothering is all about." Know that you're not alone in thinking this way and thank you for giving me hope that it does pay off! :) Can I pick two months? September and October - I love everything to do with fall and my daughters were born in September and October. Blessings!
Emily
July...
The birth of my first child.
My husband was baptized.
Family beach trip on the 4th!!!
I love June. I love that school is out and schedules are more relaxed. Not to mention it's summertime.
Even though December can be pressurized, I think it's still my favorite because I love having the Christmas tree up, love rejoicing in Christ's birth, and love
carrying out all our traditions.
My other favorite is probably July. Our schedule is different then and we try to do some vacationing. This July our daughter's getting married so it will be a whirlwind month for sure.
Happy February, Amanda!
Happy Birthday to Annabeth and Jackson! And so happy for you Amanda that you can see the fruits of your parenting paying off in the way Jackson is developing. Way to go!
Your question is a hard one for me because I'm usually a glass half empty type. Valentines Day, family-focused holidays, and even my birthday can be difficult when you are alone, so I'm not crazy about those months.
I guess I'd pick July, because of the warm weather, sunshine, and because my grandmother's birthday was the 31st. She was the only one I was close to growing up and I miss her.
My favorite time of year is late September into October. I love the transition from summer into autumn: the trees ablaze in color, nippy cool "sweater weather," pumpkins, picking fresh apples at the local orchard, and the wood stove burning a nice warming fire. It's the time of year things seem to shift into a little slower pace. I also seem to do a lot of reflecting that time of year: on God, family, and all I have to be thankful for.

Happy Birthday to your 2 precious kiddos. 3 of my 5 have March birthdays, so I feel similar feelings in March. 4 has been my favorite age of all with my Joey (who will be 5 on April 19th). I really didn't like him much at all for a good chunk of 3 -- he wasn't too much fun and subsequently, neither was I. Enjoy your 4-year-old little man. They are a blast!
Blessings!
Shana
Definitely February for me too!! I love it for several of the reasons you listed - the flowers and candy and hearts and wintery cuteness - and I love that it's unique with only 28 (or 29 days) - and my birthday is also the 17th! =) Oh, and it is also the month for the SuperBowl Party and the Olympics this year! YAY!!
WONDERFUL! February is a GREAT month! Just as you, my daughter was born in February! This Friday, the 5th, my little girl, Shea, turns ...she'll be..,um..(wiping tears away)...EIGHT YEARS OLD!!!! I can't believe it. My boy and girl are 18 months apart. July is another favorite month. July 24, 2000 is the day I became a MOMMY. My son, Colton, was born that day and I was reborn. I was born into motherhood and an entire new appreciation of the sacrifices my God made for me .....when His son's blood was shed for my wicked heart. PRAISE HIM!!!!
What an awesome day!!!! I too am just as nostalgic about my precious babies birthdays.
I LOVE November. I love that is it getting colder, we are neck deep in Football, and Thanksgiving is one of my favorite Holidays. It also means Christmas is on the way!
Thanks for the recipe - right up my alley!
I love October. I love seeing all of the leaves change colors and the crisp cool weather. I love football and apple cider, pumpkins and candy, and wearing jeans and snuggling under a blanket. Such a great time of year!
I agree, February is a fun month! My youngest son will turn 4 tomorrow. I don't really agree with the term "terrible twos". Both of my boys were the most difficult when they were 3. Although it is hard for me to see my "baby" turning 4, I have to say I am sooo looking forward to the 4's!!! And not to leave out my oldest...October is an enjoyable month too. I cried when I went into labor with him on Halloween! It really has been a lot of fun though!
Happy Birthday Annabeth and Jackson!!!
Amanda-
Thanks for the recipe. It sounds so yummy...perfect for a cold February night. I have a little one with a Feb. b-day also. His is on Valentine's day. :) This year he will be three, and I can't believe my baby (my last!) will be three! gulp. I agree that the older 3s/4s are a great time when the seeds of consistent parenting are sprouting. It is a lovely thing to see!
As for my favorite month, it would have to be June. I love the warmer days, school being out, the pool becoming an everyday thing, and sweet barefoot kiddos!
October! Hands down my favorite month.
I love watching the leaves going from green to brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow.
I love being able to wear an ensemble of jeans, t-shirt, and sweatshirt and being comfortable to watch any outdoor event especially my kids' football and soccer games.
I love apple picking. Apples are by far my favorite fruit and nothing tastes better than a fresh Macintosh picked just moments before you first bite. Oh, yum!
Hard to pick...it's between Feb. and Nov. My birthday is Feb. 17 and I will be 54 years older than JACKSON! We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on Nov. 17 and I LOVE fall and Thanksgiving. Now if you had asked our favorite number, that would have been easy.... 17 !
I love November because of the electricity autumn seems to charge up in the air; cripst leaves, firey colors coupled with brisk breezes and the smell of burning dry leaves. All of this seems like a beautiful preparation for the holiday season; Thanksgiving, Christimas and New Years (will and my Birthday in Nov.) It seems like God and all of nature is decorating and excited about this particular season. Family gatherings, and old relationships dusted off and brought together. So really I guess November and December. I honestly don't think I have a month I dislike.
Thanks so much for sharing your struggles with discipline! I have two girls: Gianna will be 3 in March and Selah will be 1 on Tuesday. I of course LOVE Gianna to bits, but I really do feel like all I do is discipline her. Such tough days. Thanks for reminding me that I'm not alone, and that she is normal!

May is my favorite month. I love the springtime - flowers blooming, days getting longer, warmer weather. May is my wedding anniversary month - wonderful memories with my husband of almost 27 years now. After this weekend of rain and a little ice, I'm ready for that May weather!
My favorite month would be June or July. The days are longer. It is warm. It seems you can get more done in the summer.Sweet tea. Watermelon.Sitting on the porch in a rocking chair.

March & April - when Atlanta comes alive again. Easter when we watch the drape on the crosses change from purple to black to white ~ and I just saw red last year for the first time. Azaleas, dogwoods, tulips, daffodils, dozens of greens make new leaves, the sky and blue and clear ~ just to name a few reasons.
Can I say I "hate" July and August?! I'm like Mama Beth. I walk outside and say "Good Grief!!!"
I'm terrible at picking favorites, because I think I know what mine is, and then before I'm done sharing about it I've listed three or four more that seem to compete with number one, only to come back to my first instinct and confirm I had it right the first time! :)
To be fair in my post, I will stick with only one: DECEMBER. I love LOVE the Christmas season and all that it represents! It is also my birthday month, new year's eve month, time off from work for part of the month, and I spend a lot of time with distant family and get to exercise my passion for gift giving!
Thank you for sharing the recipe, too. I look forward to trying it soon!
So encouraging! I have twin boys who will turn 3 on the 17th of this month. I really do feel like ALL I do is discipline them all day and that I'm the most controlling mom ever whose children will surely grow up to hate her. Thanks for the reminder that that isn't true and that it all WILL begin to pay off :)
I love being given a new tried-and-true recipe that appeals to me and that I can look at and think to myself, "I have all those things on hand; I could make that tonight!" Thanks so much for sharing!
Favorite month -- does there have to be just one? Our kids were each born in a different season, and I love each of their months for a different reason. In January I love the cozy feeling of being snowed in as a family and the opportunity to do a little more scrapbooking than usual. I love the bursting forth of color in April, the chance to start opening windows for some fresh air, and the anticipation of digging in the dirt soon. July brings some really special family traditions, some of which include camping. The crispness of fall coupled with sweatshirts and shorts makes me love October. How in the world can I choose just one?!?
Your persistency in discipline truly will pay off. Keep up the great work!
I never thought of what my favorite month would be or why, but I will give it a shot.
January would have to be it and the time would be the turn of the clock into the New Year. I have selected this month because it is a "designated" month of clean slate, new resolutions and a new chance to get it correct "this year"...
I know I start each day with a clean slate with nothing written except what I choose to pen as I live out my day, yet I am thankful for God's grace in that "It is the Lord's mercies the we are not comsumed, because his compassion they fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
So January would be my favorite.
Amanda, my three children are 32 and 31(twins) such a long time ago...reminiscently pondering..sigh :O) time goes by quickly...
Purchased your mom's book and looking forward to "So Long Insecurity"
Much love,
Deborah from CT
Well April is my birthday month and I love spring and everything that brings...I do also love the beginning of fall, because it is the beginning of a special time of family and celebration. And there is a sort of stillness in the winter that is theraputic to me (not the early dark sky, I can't excercise). I love snow and can't wait till I live somewhere it snows for Christmas!
I love November! It is my birthday month and our anniversary! I also have always loved Thanksgiving and the smells of November.
I am still waiting for the fabulous fours! My daughter is 4 1/2 and we are just not quite there yet, but I can tell it's coming soon! (HOPE SO)!
It is birthday month in our house too. My oldest will be 14 on the 6th and my baby will be 11 on the 28th. Plus I just love Valentines!
April... my first and only grandaughters birth month (she will be 2), it's spring and everything is new.

My favorite month when I am living in the north is whatever month the daffodils come up to bloom! I have lived all over and it has ranged from March to sometimes late May before I see them.
The years I lived in Florida, my favorite month was September. :) Still warm but fallish weather was in the air.
Blessings,
Michelle
I too enjoy the month of February! A few years ago my man & I attended a marriage seminar by Dr. Gary Smalley. He shared SO MUCH about God's love for us. He spoke about anticipating Valentine's Day not just for each other, but as a way to remind ourselves of God's love for us! I went out and bought some cute Valentine pillows in those luscious purple, pink and red colors, w/ sayings of
"Be Mine", "I'll love you forever", etc. I have them stacked in my quiet time room! They are constant reminders of what Jesus did for me and that HE WILL ALWAYS WANT ME TO BE HIS VALENTINE!! Might sound corny, but it's precious to me.
Enjoy your celebrations this month!

DogParkDiva - I couldn't agree more about July in the Northwest. The really long days make is just about perfect (except when the light comes into my littles' windows at 4:30!)
I love November with the fall colors. It's so beautiful to see a circle of colorful leaves on green grass under a bare tree. I like a fire in the wood stove, crisp air and blue skies.
I'm amazed at how many of you have children born on the same day. FUN!!

4 is great, but 5 gets even better. Just wait!!!!!
I love April! March is still too cold and May is already getting too warm. April is perfect. Especially if the old "April showers..." saying is true. Everything comes alive again in April. And I'm all about coming alive again! Happy birthday to your kiddos. Time flies - savor the moments.
February was always a great month for me, too! But for different reasons.... I lived in Colorado for 20+ years and had to find a way to get through winter! So I always celebrated Feb 1st because it meant:
1) I survived January - which was the coldest month & often so miserable!
2) And since Feb is a short month - I knew it would only be a few weeks until I could look forward to a few warm days in march!
Weird logic - but it got me thru winter! We even would have Feb 1 parties with our friends!

PS - Happy b-day to your kiddos! Mine are now 17 and 14. I still have those kind of days, BTW! :)
I love July. Mostly because it is my birthday month! Its usually hotter than heck and that means a bit slower pace. Its happily between Easter and Christmas - ordinary time. I love it!
Blessings,

May for me. Usually Spring is in full swing, to just go outside when the sun is shining, birds are returning after winter, the grass is just beginning to peek out from being covered with snow. It makes me feel like I am watching God's wonder unfolding right before my eyes. I even like it when the bugs start showing up.
I'm terrible at picking favorites, because I think I know what mine is, and then before I'm done sharing about it I've listed three or four more that seem to compete with number one, only to come back to my first instinct and confirm I had it right the first time! :)

Happy birthday to your little one's!
Maybe August, because we usually go to the beach in August. Maybe October, because I like the cooler weather and college football! Go Hogs!
I love May when spring finally takes hold. Everything is green, fragrant and the puddles from April are gone. October is good, too, cooler days, cuddling under warm blankets with open windows overnight, the colors and the fragrance of smoke and leaves.
Good Heavens, that would means I'd have to pick ONE. I'm not good with ONE. So I won't. :) Hope you totally forgive my way. I'd say I love Spring because it brings new life and is gooey in hope. Also I love Christmas time (many weeks here) because of the Spirit of a special birthday party!
My favorite month is September.
It's my birthday month but it us also when college football starts back, the time for tailgating, football parties, Fall Bible studies begin, leaves start to change, it can get cool enough for a fire, cooler evenings after the hot summer. :)
I love October. Fall is here and it is time to start deer hunting! Most of you ladies probably don't understand what I am talking about but I bet Keith Moore does.
My favorite month? Wow, that's hard. I like several of them for several reasons so I'm just going to give you them all b/c I cannot pick.
Jan. Because everything feels new and hopeful as I think about what's to come.
Feb. Because it's my daughter's birthday on the 13th...she turns 7 this year.
June: Because school is out and the lazy days of summer have arrived
Sep: Because school is back in session and I've had it having kids home allllll dayyyyyy longggggg. And, it's my son's birthday month - he'll be five next Sep. And, it's my anniversary month - 10 yrs this Sep.
Dec: (If I really, really HAD to pick I guess this would be it). Because it is CHRISTmas time. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this season. Most of all the reason, but also the celebrating, the decorations, the music. Ahhh, I miss it now. Only 11 months to go celebrate again.

April/May--Spring! I love Spring--Bluebonnets, bunnies and new growth! There's just something about Spring that brings the best out in everyone. And our Anniversary is in April--38 this yr. Lovin' life more each day!
Your enchilladas sound yummy! One question tho-do you drain the liquid from the Rotel or do you use it? I may make this Wednesday evening! Thanks for sharing!
I love December. It's my birthday and Christmas! How much more wonderful could it get?!!
When I was growing up, my financially struggling parents couldn't afford to give me both Christmas AND birthday presents- so I always felt like it was awful to be born in Dec. However, my sweet husband always makes a fuss over my b-day, and I LOVE IT!!!
I love May because of spring and sunshine (where I grew up spring started in May and it didn't get hot until June :).
It also marked the end of a school year and a fun parade :)
It's also my b-day and Mother's Day which helps brighten it.
I was just thinking the other day that Feb was my least favorite month cause it's so dark and gloomy :) Glad to know there are people out there who like it!
I love the last half of November and all of December. It is such a pretty time of year as we usually see our first snow of the season. I especially like it because it is the only time when all of my family thinks about family and we go out of our way to be together to celebrate the bonds we have. (It gives me an extra chance to share the birth of Christ. He is so important to me and not so much to my other family members).
Amanda, I can't believe it has been a year since Annabeth was born. She is just beautiful. I came to the blog when Jackson was just 2. He has grown so much. It seems like decades ago since my teens were that young. They are so much fun. Thanks for the recipe. I can hardly wait to try it. Enjoy those birthdays. What fun!

Favorites would be March and October.
March is hopeful - winter is almost over and spring is on the way!! It's also the birth month of my oldest daughter and I so loved being pregnant with her and had such a blast with her as a baby....she's 16 now so I have to remind myself of this.
October because I'm sick of summer heat and humidity and the air just smells like football season....even though i really don't care for football beyond the social aspect of it.
BTW I have that enchilada recipe memorized and if any of ya'll haven't tried it...it's jaw dropping!!!
I will have to say April is my fav. I love the hint of warm weather and seeing everything bloom and come back to life!
My youngest turns 4 at the end of April and I am hoping he will get easier but I have noticed with my oldest son, that once we were passed the toddler phase, it became more enjoyable! We all have our days and moments, some are better than others. :)
October is my favorite month - although, fall doesn't really start here in Southern California until late November or early December. I just love Fall. The crunchy leaves, the colors, even the light of day is different -- somehow softer. I guess that's why I like fall - it just seems like the world is not quite as harsh and is somehow more peaceful and quiet and soft.
I love December! I'm always sad to see it go. I love Christmas, the lights, the tree, the family get-togethers, the presents, the music, everything. I love the feeling of awe of celebrating His birth. I love the anticipation of January and all the newness it brings. I love December because you feel like a "do over" is just around the corner. I love the way people love each other more during Christmas. I really do adore December.
Happy birthday to the little Jones' and blessings to their Mom!
Blessings,
Dori
I love this month too! I love that it's the start of Spring like weather where I live, and daffodils are beginning to poke their heads out! Tulips will be right around the corner and so will capri pants! Love it!
Thanks for the mom encouragement. I actually really needed that very word, and wish you could know the circumstances of this morning to know what I'm talking about.
My favorite month is March. It's my Birthday month but more than that it means Spring is on the way. Here in Upstate NY we have some brutal winters - so knowing warmth is coming our way makes everyone smile more and walk with a skip in their step.
When you talked about some snow in Texas... my husband and I had to laugh because we were plowing our snow and fighting really cold temperatures. Your excitement to see the snow melted our hearts!
Hi Amanda!
YUM...thanks for sharing that recipe. I think that will be dinner in my house tomorrow night.
Your kids are the exact same age difference as my kids (within weeks). My kids are 9 and 6 now. I LOVED 4 years old with my son (now 9). LOVED it!
My favorite month is April. I grew up in Vermont and April is when the earth FINALLY comes back to life after such a long, deep, cold winter. Those long awaited green buds on the trees and the first few flowers and green blades of grass have always lifted my spirits and reminded me of the Lamentations scripture about His mercies being "new every morning".
I LOVE december. Living in Chicago it promises snowfall but more than that I LOVE getting ready for Christmas. I love all the preparation, the parties, and the ultimate celebration of Jesus (of course), but to me all of the fun comes with it. I think theres so much joy in knowing I wait all year for that month... to celebrate the best birthday ever...! It's my fave for sure!:)
I love April, fresh starts, my anniversary, SPRING! and maybe some sun shine
Amanda, I have to agree 4 IS a wonderful age. My oldest daughter is turning 5 in April and I keep asking her if she can just stay 4. She's old enough to communicate well with and still influenced by me and my husband rather than her friends. I am dreading kindergarten next year.
As far as favorite month...I do love February because I am a sap for the red and pnk decorations and candy too as well as it is also my birthday month.
February is one of my favorite months too because my husband and I married on the 14 and one year later on February 11, our first child was born. I also love December because of the true meaning of Christmas.
My favorite month is April. I just love Spring in Texas, minus the allergies of course. I love watering the grass, and watching everything turn green, it is so beautiful and therapeutic for me.
I absolutely love October! I live in Indiana and it is gorgeous here that month. Both of my children were born on the 9th...3 years apart..totally God on that one because I certainly would not have done that! My anniversary is the 1st. And Halloween is my favorite holiday! I love to dress up in costume....every year (I'm 36) but my kids give me the outlet to do that!! I also love the fall scents that come out every year!
I love July. I an a total summer girl and usually you can count on July to be sunshiny, warm, and beautiful. Also it's the middle of summer so I don't have to think about my girls going back to school yet or the "to-do's" that go with that. We can just "chill" out and enjoy the day in a more relaxed manner.
Lastly, my birthday is in July. :)
February is my happy month :-)
I am a hopeless romantic, so Valentine's Day makes me grin. My anniversary is this month (about to be 10 wonderful years!), and so is my birthday. (Though we won't discuss how many years for THAT one!)
February is also just a bit closer to Spring when you can actually begin to believe that the winter WILL end :-)
I love November because it is my birthday month and I love Thanksgiving. Being with family and eating delicous food and just be so grateful for all that the Lord has done for us.
hugs and love
October! Two of my 5 boys are born that month, but my love of this month began long before that. If I could head to Vermont during October or step into the pages of GooseBerry Patch catalog and live--it would be bliss! I love going to Fall Festivals, wrapping up in blankets and going to my sons football games, hay rides, feeling the crisp autumn air, seeing the amazing color display on the trees, picking apples and cooking and canning them........oh, the list goes on, but you get the idea.
Now you've got me wishing there was a hay bale in my yard and some spiced apple cider on the stove.......*sigh*
OnYa, Tonya
I can't even tell you how this post was like a breath of fresh air this afternoon. I am a stay-at-home mom with 2 kids. My daughter turns 2 this month...my son is 4 1/2 (4 is a bit easier than 3 but now he argues with me quoting movies). Just when I was having that moment where I feel like I'm the only mom having a hard "mom day". Those days where that feeling of inadequecy sneak in. I read this and gained the perspective I needed.
Oh, my favorite month is May. My birthday, anniversary and it is finally pool weather in Texas!
April, it represents spring, new beginnings, warmer weather and usually Easter which is my favorite holiday.
I also love any summer month. I hate winter even though my birtday month is January, I always wanted to be a spring baby. We have 9-10" of snow but we're expecting a heat wave of 40 tomorrow!
Amanda-
Happy Feb. to you sweetie. Feb. is one of our party months. our eldest 2 children, both born in Feb. 2 yrs apart. Ours are turning 23, and 21.
November is our other party month the same way, our youngest two, born in Nov. 3 yrs apart. They just turned 17, and 14....oh yea mine is in Nov. too, but I don't think about mine anymore, I think about theirs.......praise The Lord!
Have fun on your babies B'days.
My favorite month is July. It is the peek of summer and I love hot. Plus it is our anniversary month, so it guarantees at the very least a date night, if not a little get away with my hubby. Plus as the kids have gotten older, we are now taking longer family vacations and they seem to be happening during this month.
Yum! My mouth is watering over the enchilada recipe. I'm going to have to try this soon. I should love November, since two of my three children were born during that time, but it's very stressful finance wise, because I want to throw big parties for my kids and can't. Chloe was born in August, which I must admit, I hate August, cause it's just too hot and the year she was born I was especially miserable for obvious reasons. I love February too, cause it's my birthday month. I admit it! I'm selfish! I love being lavished with gifts! Plus it's still cold, but not too cold, usually. Have you figured out that I hate hot weather?!
I'm either a December or an April. I love Christmas and what it means to believers as we celebrate our LORD's birth. I also love the decorations and festivities that go along with Christmas. That said, I absolutely love April too because of all the new growth on the trees, bushes, plants, etc. I grow roses and by this time, I have a plethora of these beautiful flowers all in my gardens. It gives me great joy to cut my roses and give bouquets of them to whomever.
Blessings to all!

Well, hmmm... never really stopped to think about my favorite month...let's see.. I was born in September.. had children born in Jan, March and Nov...have grandchildren born in March,May,November, and August..my sis was born in December, my nieces in April and Nov, my mom in Dec, daddy in June...thats every month except Feb, July and October... so we pretty much celebrate all year! Honestly though, I would have to say my favorite month is December... I LOVE Christmas... love that we really focus on Jesus... love all the deoorating... love all the parties...love having ALL my family under my roof.. yep.. it's December!!
Thanks for making me think AJ!
love to you and yours,
Martha in MS
I'm a February gal. Birthday, hearts, flowers, and love.

Wow, what timing! I just e-mailed a friend to see if she had a cheese and onion enchilada recipe for a party I am taking them to. Awesome...thank you!!!
My favorite month is any month without snow, but I really love June. Everything is in full bloom and not very hot yet.
It's a toss-up between February and one of the summer months! Incidentally, my birthday is the same day as Annabeth's, and I, too, love that there is so much pink around at this time of the year.
Hope y'all have a wonderful birthday celebration for both of your little ones!
I love May - warmer days, sunlight in the evenings, wonderful produce at farmer's markets!
On another note, when my granddaughter Jordan was 5 she was always bossing her little brother around. My daughter heard her telling him to sit on his bed for a time out and not come out until she told him he could. My daughter got the suitcase out and started packing her clothes. Jordan said where are you going, and her Mom said I am leaving because you are acting like the Mommy and I don't think this house needs 2 Mommies. Jordan immediately said she didn't want to be the mommy any more. She is 15 and now we laugh about it.
June is my favorite. It's my birthday and Summer solstice all in one day! I am NOT as believer in astrology or anything like that, BUT my birthday is the longest DAY of the year. Woo-hoo! June also marks the beginning of summer and when we usually take a time off vacation with our little biological family. . it's just special! And the beginning of February means it's only 5 months away! Can't wait for summer days!
w
P. S. Amanda, congrats on the bdays! Little J is four and it is my favorite age. They are like little scientists yearning to learn at this age. Enjoy!
What's my favorite month? It depends on what month it is! I love 'em all for one reason or another! (I won't bore you with a 12-month list of reasons!) That being said, this year March will have a hard time being beat as top o'the heap. That's the month my first, precious grandbaby is due. The rest of the months in 2010 will have a hard time holding a candle to that month's blessing! :)
My favorite month is April because there's finally a touch of warmth and a hope of color up here in frosty MN. And best of all, all of the warm, sunny months are still ahead, just waiting to be enjoyed.
Within days of having turned four, my sweet little first born responded to an instruction I gave him with, "I'm four now; I don't have to listen to you anymore." !!! It didn't fly. :)
I love mid-September to mid-October. Really, I just adore everything about fall, but that's the only way I could condense it down to one month. I especially love the slant of the sun, and the beautiful light that it gives, besides the glorious leaves, and starting to nest, and the newness of a "new school year" (even though I'm over 50), and the cooking and baking that starts happening, along with canning, etc. etc. And here in Colorado, we're more than likely to have our first snowfall of the season (don't like it for too long though).
April!! The flowers come, warmth comes, flip-flops come into my wardrobe once more, and I can lay outside on the grass on my beautiful college campus to study! My grades definitely improve the second half of this semester. =D
I can not even think about my favorite month, all I can think about is your recipe! I am going to have to make it this weekend! My mouth is watering!
My favorite month is April. I wasn't born in April, however, my parents like the name well enough to name me after the month!
I love that the name April means spring (my favorite time of year), opening (like flower buds), and new life. My very favorite thing about the month of April is when Easter comes during that month.
Hands down: December, particularly when I'm able to enjoy it at a slow pace and take in the beauty and meaning of the holidays. And because it's cold outside. Well, at least somewhat cooler. But I love the holiday season, bundling up and all the snuggles.
Brennan is already showing huge signs of being a toddler, so what you described as going "off course" was just for me. :)
I can't seem to pick one month. I love what the beginning of each season or holiday brings. You are so wise, Amanda, to stick to your guns with your children. This may be a terrible comparison, but I know you will understand coming from a family who loves dogs. My husband trained dogs (labs) with a professional trainer for several years when our daughter was young. I am also a teacher of young children. Keith would say things that was part of the training and I would think "oh dear, that's just like children". Well, one thing the "professional" told him was "I would rather correct (well he used a harsher term) while they are young (we're talking about the dogs now) rather than beat them their whole life. Well, we were quite strict, I guess, with our only child and she is a mother's dream. It isn't because of us, but God's grace and wisdom we latched onto. I mean it...it isn't because of us...people stop us and say things like "if I had a daughter I would want one like her" or "I wish my son was young enough to marry her", on and on. God is good. Your tough love will pay off, girl. My family is "living proof" ;-)
February is my favorite. I start giving my husband little gifts and poems every day starting the 1st through the 14th. I LOVE IT.
I love October. It is right in the middle of fall. The air is chilly but not too cold yet. I love the smells and decorations.
December is my favorite - nothing beats Christmas time!
October...always...ever since I was a child. Bright leaves crunching underfoot, the smell of burning leaves, blue skies, cool weather, fall fashion, pumpkin everything...Yum!
Elizabeth
I'm so glad you got a little off course. My first baby is due in about 5 weeks and just this morning I was telling her "I'm so sorry you got stuck with me for your mother. I have NO IDEA what I'm doing" I don't know how to play make believe.(well, except for make believe that you have a bigger house, how will you decorate it? I can do that.) Point being, my inadequacies are huge - HUGE! The only redeeming factor I have is that my GOD is HUGER and he is my suffenciency; I'm trusting that every where I am lacking he will fill (yes, a LOT of filling!)
Thank you for sharing. It makes me feel not so alone.

Amanda,
At my house we call February "Valentine's Month" because V-Day has always been such a fun holiday for us. The youngest of my five children will turn 16 on the 17th and I and love all of the same things you do--finding pink shirts for girls AND boys, valentine tchotchkes, and decorating, in spite of being truly and completely craft disabled.
It isn't my favorite--I love too many months for that, but somehow February always speaks hope to me.
Kate
Oh sweet Amanda-
I still have those days where I wonder why God chose me for this job of Motherhood-I still have my moments where I cringe and think "Wow-could have done that better." But as my girls are growing into truly beautiful young ladies- I am delighted that they are such a blast to spend time with and visit with and laugh and cry with! And though we still have challenging days with our 9 year old son-I wouldn't trade any one of them for anything but this life I have! Despite the rough days I have so many more days where my cup runneth over!
My favorite month is April- my hubby and I both share birthdays a week apart from each other...and this is the month that winter TRULY starts melting away for us! I love the hope that spring brings! I love the sunshine, the longer days, the air changing and the birds singing! Thank the Lord for Spring!
In Him,
Andrea
I am so torn. I love April, because it is such a time of "re-birth" after the dreary winter months. The colors, the sunshine... Also it is the last decent month of Spring before Summer kicks us in the patootie down here in Houston, TX. I also love November for a similar reason, it is just starting to really cool off down here after the sweltering summertime. I love the fall colors and the excitement/anticipation of the coming Christmas season.
My most fave month is November! November in the Houston area is sort of the beginning of Fall which we are so ready for after a very long and hot summer!! I love fall colors, I love the comfort food of November and of course I LOVE Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving because of all the food but also because there is no focus on gifts. I love getting together with my family and giving thanks for being surrounded by so many loved ones and being loved by our Saviour. I especially love the leaves beginning to change in November in Texas. Just getting outdoors and enjoying the cooler weather is so much fun! I love pumpkin patches and I LOVE fall weddings!!
Blessings to your little Feb crew!!
Mammy
September! Fall colors, dry air, sunny days, cool nights, turtlenecks, SmartWool socks, the smell of wood fires, apple crisp in the oven, my son-in-law's birthday....
My Favorite month of the year is no doubt April. My birthday is the 10th and my lovely daughters is the 18th!! Also it is the month where one of my favorite holidays is celebrated often which is Easter. My birthday usually falls on Good Friday, and I love to be reminded of what my Lord did for me around that time because it helps me to remeber though I may be getting olderI will be in heaven someday forever because of what he did that day and three days later!! Praise God!
Amanda, I love the Spring usually April. Easter is my favorite holiday - the time that our Lord paid the ultimate price and showed just how much he really loves us. It just doesn't get any better than when the dogwoods bloom and the robins sing in Alabama --
EASTER!!!
Judy
Anniston, Alabama
Hey Amanda, I am wondering how that little year old girl is. Is she starting to walk? Please post pictures!
I love May, May is when all the winter wet gives way to flowers. I first noticed how much I love May when I lived in Boston. The winters are wretched there, but May would come and would make up for how awful it had been for the previous six months. I lived in Paris for two years and May was when people would start walking around with big bunches of flowers and Il de Cite' would have a Sunday with beautiful caged birds and the tourists would begin to return and smile out the windows of buses. I can breathe easier just thinking about it, ahhhhhh. I love May.
I live in Denver now, but May is when I can get my flowers out again and I can go out sans jacket and watch my dogs run really fast because it is not too hot for them yet.
This May I will fulfill a "born again" dream I have had since comming to Christ 14 years ago, I am going to Israel, so I think I will love May even more because my memory will hold that in it along with all the flowers and Paris and the death of winter.
In the Beloved,
Anastasia
November. It's my birthday month, and it's autumn, and it's Thanksgiving. I just don't like my ugly yellow birthstone ;)
Any month that is warm and sunny is a favorite of mine. Especially right now when it FEELS like we've had about three feet of snow in East Tennessee. Usually, we're lucky see three inches.
But Spring is coming! I know because I bought some things last week for St. Patrick's Day. After St. Patrick's Day, Lord willing, the weather will begin to warm up and everything in Appalachia will bloom. I will put on my new shamrock head-boppers and rejoice.
Anne
Also.... I am in need of prayer this week. I was asked by Alernatives Pregnancy center in Denver to speak for them at Denver University Law School on Thursday. I went through counseling with them two years ago and got knock down drag out freed from oppression I did not even know I had. I think the law school is enemy territory and it is a move from the defensive to the offensive, but it will take ALOT of spiritual support. Thanks!
In the Beloved,
~A~
October or November. Fall, really. I absolutely love the fall. Growing up in Kansas, the fall was when there was finally a respite from the stifling heat, the wheat was up and made green patchwork carpet pieces across the landscape mingling with the golden leaves of the trees, Holidays are in view but not stressed over yet, and it's such a time of Thankfulness. I still love fall in Alaska, though the color peak is waning. The crisp air and my husbands excitement from the hopefully successful hunts abound. I get in the mood to cook and bake, so yummy smells fill our home. I long to be close to family, and though I often can't be there, I am thankful that we have relationships that make us miss each other!
I don't have one favorite month, I have two: July & August, for several reasons:
1) It's summer and it's hot and I live in a bteautiful place with multiple lakes with gorgeous beaches within a 10 minute drive.
2) Early morning golfing is great at that time. I don't usually enjoy mornings, but you can't be on the gold course too late in the day in those months cuz it's too hot. But in July/August, I love the morning when the sun is just coming up and there's still dew on the ground. Beautiful!
3) The many memories of summer camp experiences during those months - both as a camper and as camp staff. Hours of fun and lots of life-changing moments with God during those summers.
As I sit here contemplating what my favorite month would be... I have a very hard time deciding. I want to say it's September because that's my birthday month, and also the day that my hubby and I started dating. Seondly I think that August would be, I love the summer turing to fall times and that is when I married my hubby. I think I will always love the months of April, June and November now because they are the months that hold my babies birthdays. All in all I think that God has given me at least one thing every month to be thankful for I have a very large family and at least one birthday a month. Have a wonderful birthday month with your babies!
APRIL - because after a long winter in SD I am ready for melting snow, sunshine, outdoor walks, and new life. AND it often means celebrating Easter which is my FAVORITE holiday! New life everywhere!!! :)
My favorite month is October. I love the crisp air, the beautiful colour with the changing leaves, Canadian thanksgiving and of course my birthday :).
I am glad to hear that someone else is in my boat with a four year old and a one year old...the days can be so long but the time is flying! Thanks for the encouragement Amanda!
Erin
oh my goodness, my favorites are november and july! november is my birthday month, and i've always loved the coziness of it ~ it's fall turning to winter, the holidays begin... it's just lovely. but i love july too, because i love my country. the 4th of july is full of memories of cooking salmon out on the beach, bonfires, water skiing until dark, sitting out on the boat in the puget sound, nestled between mt. rainier and the olympics as the sun sets and fireworks begin! always a highlight of my summers :)
I love February but not because of red and pink but because it's a month of purple. Amethyst to be exact. This is the month of my birthday and I love my birthstone. It also is a month of many birthdays in my family. February also holds the day for Groundhogs Day and I always anticipate that we will not have 6 more weeks of winter. I am always ready for spring to spring. Also, every four years the winter olympics are in February and I love the winter olympics. How I wish God had made me a figure skater. My birthday and Valentines Day always run together I guess because I was born on the eleventh. They always end up being 1 day instead of 2. That's okay because to me my birthday is more immportant. :)
HAPPY FEBRUARY EVERYONE
Amanda, Thank you for what you wrote! I have parented 2 bio. children who are now fairly grown (almost 23 and 20, both were/are at MBI). Now we are parenting our 3 boys that we brought home from Russia in Dec. 08. I forgot about those feeling when my bios were so little. So remembering what you said will give me hope since this day is not going very well!!
I cant say I have a favorite month, but I love Fall.
i love oct and nov, for the same reasons as you. my babies' birthdays!! our anniversary is in nov. too. mine and my husband's birthday is in dec. i've always loved fall and winter best anyway, so their birthdays being mixed in is perfect.
but our baby, our only son, had to break the mold and join us in may. his first bday is coming up in a few months, so i have a new reason to love summer now!
I have to say April! It's my birthday month...I will be 27 on the 26th this year. I love the transition from winter into precious spring. Everything has really come to life again in North Carolina by April. I love flowers blooming, birds singing, green grass growing, clear blue skies, warm sunny afternoons, spring thunderstorms, rain showers and rainbows (of the sky and flip-flops). I love to open up my windows and porch doors and turn on the ceiling fans and bring in the fresh air and the light. Thank you God for all of these wonderful blessings!
Most of all, I love Easter! It is by far my favorite Holiday. There is something about that time of year that brings out a solitude in me. I love celebrating the resurrection of Christ (while we should do this all year long!) and also at Christmas...I love what the cross means!
I love April :)
Meredith
Amanda,
Thanks for the recipe, I'll be trying it soon! I am a firm believer in consistency in parenting. We are learning a hard lesson of what happens when you aren't consistent.
I am also having a hard time picking just one favorite month. I guess it would have to be December. I love all the decorations, and how the snow covers everything making it look clean and new. I enjoy the way people go out of their way to help each other during the holidays, too. Have a wonderful time celebrating your darling childrens' birthdays! Joan
My favorite month is December. It is my birthday month...I was born one week before Christmas. It just reminds me what life is all about.
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Amanda! Needed a new recipe.
October is my favorite month. To me it signifies the beginning of Autumn because the leaves change such brilliant colors. Though I live in Houston now, my first love is the Blue Ridge Mountains in Spruce Pine, NC. Check it out during Autumn. Breath Taking!
~amydawn
Thank you for sharing your honest feelings about the struggles of being a mom. Sometimes I feel like a failure because it seems like all I do is discipline my kids (well, the almost 3-year-old, in particular). So many things I could say...but just, thanks...thanks.
It is so hard to pick a favorite month. I like to decorate when each new season comes. The pinks and reds do get me, when walking into Target too. Our family celebrates Valentines day by making our traditional heart shaped pizza.
Thanks for the recipe. It will be on the menu next week.
One year old already! Wow, it seems like she was just born.
4 is really fun! Happy Birthday Annabeth and Jackson!!!!!!!
That is a hard one! Fall is my most favorite time of year, but I can't pick out a favorite month during that time because I love them all. However, May is a very special month to me. It holds my mother, husband, and children's birthdays! My son will be 4 this year too, and my daughter will be 2! I can so relate to feeling like all I do is discipline my child! It is very discouraging at times. I am looking forward to what 4 brings, although I will be entering that more difficult age with my daughter! Yikes! I also LOVE all of the thunderstorms we get during this month. It's typically one of the most rainy we have which is nice for a town that sits on the edge of a dessert!
JULY...hands down! I love the HOT, HOT sun, cookouts, the fireworks on the Fourth, sweet warm-weather baby outfits with bare feet, and the anticipation of beach vacations in August.
I'm with you...love February. I have two of my four kids in this month. One on the 14th and one on the 17th. It's a great month.
AUGUST!
Why? ...My birthday, my husband's birthday, my youngest son's birthday, hot temperatures, the beach, football kicking into gear, the last mellow moments before the whirlwind of the final months of the year. Sun, sand, palm trees, ahhhhh.
My favorite month is October because it is when things really start to feel and look like fall in my neck of the woods. I love the beautifully colored trees, the smell of burning leaves, the cool, crisp mornings followed by 70 degree days. Football season, pumpkins, mums and hay bales . . . I could go on and on!
Wow Amanda, that's a tough one,haha...you know some of us siesta's can't say just one. I have to say September because I love fall. Fall is definitely my favorite season. I love everything about it from the food, boots, leaves, smell in the air, the smell of a candle lit in a pumpkin, etc. etc.
April is a very special month for the very reason that it is Easter, my official favorite "holiday." I also love the obvious, new flowers and new life. April just burts w/ excitement for me. I love everything about the start of spring.
Barbara S.
My favorite day is in February, my birthday (love sharing bday party stories from childhood with people), but I would have to say July. I love it hot! I like to go out on the boat or go to theme parks and ride roller coasters all day!
Mine is definitely February too! My sons birthday is on the 18th and mine the 12th! :) As soon as I wake up, the morning of my birthday, I tell the kids they have to be nice to me all day because its my day and I get to do whatever I want! :) As a mom, how many times, a year, can we say that? Not enough!
January-start something new
Febrary-my wedding anniversary
March-My birthday
April-Easter/spring
May-Mother's day
June-Father's day
July- the 4th
August- My husband's birthday
September-Sept. tries hard to make you forget summer
October- My baby girl's b-day
November- My little man's b-day
December- Christmas and all that goes with
That's my favorite month :)
I love February too!! Its my birthday on the 12th and my sons on the 18th. :) As soon as I wake up, on my birthday, I tell my two kids they have to be nice to me because today is my day and I get to do whatever I want!! :) As a mom, how many times do we get to say that? The answer.. not near enough! :)
I am a teacher, and my favorite month is...you guessed it! June! The feeling of freedom to do whatever I please is exhilarating! And I haven't gotten tired of HOT yet! :)
Enjoy your babies' birthdays!

April in Kentucky!
April is the month of rebirth, renewal and hope - and appropriately, often Easter.
I love the smells of April - flowers, rain, dirt in the garden - and burgers on the grill!
And the sounds of April after the silence of winter- thunderstorms, children playing outside, lawn mowers, birds chirping, motorcyles, the crack of a bat against a ball.
And the sights of April - the bright colors of spring, tulips and lilacs and violets and wisteria, and bright green leaves.
I love the openness of April - open windows to welcome spring, neighbors in their yards, outdoor sports events, soaking up the beauty of God's earth under a spring sun.
I love October. It is my birthday month but more than that, I became a grandmother in October. Wow! How much better can that be? It is also the month in which Houston begins to get a little cooler and I am definitely into that.
Amanda,
I loved this post! My daughter's birthday is Feb 18th and she will be 4 this year too and I am doing a lot of the same reminiscing you are.
My favorite months are April/May when everything is blooming reminding me about new life and the new life I have received in Christ.
God bless you today!
In Christ,
Katie
I love fall! The colors, the smells, the coolness, the sunshine. I love sitting by the fire and piling on the blankets. My kiddos are band kids, so I have had to switch hiking on the weekends to band events, but that is okay. They love it and I love seeing them happy. I'll hike the fall trails again when they head to college!
By the way, four year olds are my favorite! I could have one that age forever.
i love october because FALL is absolutely my favorite time of year! and it's always been a great time of anticipation because of planning 2 birthday parties in November for my sons.

October. A blue October sky is one of my favorite things. And here in Florida, October is our spring! It is the signal that the hard, hot summer days are ending and the cooler weather is coming. We plant our gardens and start spending more time out doors.
I would have to say that September is my favorite month because in September of 1987 I gave my life to Jesus.
It is having the opportunity to offer my Lord a sweet sacrifice of praise and most certainly a sacrificed life, that will always make September a special month.
My Spiritual Birthday
It was the month that forever changed every day, month, and year that was to come.
I think May is my new favorite month. My husbands birthday and my new daughters birthday are in May. Also May marks the end of the school year, which means summer is on its way!
I love October. The weather is perfect - cool enough for jeans and sweaters. The leaves are gorgeous. And the smells . . . crispness, harvest, spices, candles. I look forward to it all year.
I've always loved March. It has always been my sister and my birthday month. Fourteen years ago it became the birth month of my second daughter. Then ten years ago, on my birthday, I received the precious gift of my son. It also is the month of Spring Break from school. A whole week of fun with the kids home! Sometimes March is the month to celebrate Easter.I love the newness that Spring brings. It is a time to celebrate life!
May, for two reasons:
1) I'm a teacher.
2) beautiful weather in MO, trees have leaves, grass is green.

April is probably my favorite month of the year! Spring is finally here by then(my favorite season) I can sit out on the back porch and look at the beautiful flowers, green grass and beautiful birds chirping and perching in the trees or on the ground looking for food. Also the kids are on spring break and I'm usually on vacation from work and we have a lot of fun that week.
December - I love the decorations and the overall spirit of the season. Most people seem to be so much nicer during this time!

I Love Spring, always have. February is like the start of that in my neck of the world...so from now till March my mood should be getting mo'e betta ;~)
Rev. 21:5(MSG)The Enthroned continued, "Look! I'm making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate."
December is my favorite.
I love the Christmas season, I love all the decorating, I love the cold/less humidity/good hair days (can I just be real?), I love love love all the family times together.... that's my most favorite part.
(My 12 yr old is sitting beside me fake sniffling because I didn't say his birth month... so here's a shout out to April!) :)
Favorite Month: October
I love college football, high school football, crisp air, bright blue clear sky, beautiful leaves. We have such a great time on the weekends during the fall. I like decorating my house this time of year too.
I am a teacher. I love June! I have the whole month off, and the whole summer is ahead of me! We usually take vacations in June also... I get to spend all of my days in summer with my precious boy.
I am going to go with November. This is my birthday month, as well as probably the closest we get to Fall here in Florida. I love all things fall...pumpkins,cooler weather, Thanksgiving. Also, my husband and I got married on Nov. 1st, so that makes a wonderful start to a wonderful month.
OCTOBER!! That's my favorite month...my birthday month, along with the chilly weather, pumpkins, beautiful autumn colors of the leaves and when else during the year can you decorate for a season and it will last so long? Also, since we moved to Colorado almost 6 years ago, the first snow has always been in October...and I love me some snow!
Amanda, my mom (who raised 4 kids) gave me this advice after I had the first of my 4 boys: Do the hard work now, be consistent and I promise it will pay off later. She was right! My boys are not perfect but because we did the hard stuff when they were little, they are much more manageable now and they obey a lot quicker than their peers do. Stick with it!
Love ya, Amy W.
I love Christmas, but my favorite month is May. Warm, but not too hot yet, flowers out everywhere.... As my daddy would say, "The sap's risin'." May makes me feel alive!!!
If I have to choose, I like October. It is fall up here in the north and the colors change. We can still get warm days in the low 70s. There is nothing more beautiful. Also usually around my birthday, the teachers have their annual convention and I have an excuse to take a day of vacation and have a special time with with my kids.
Blessings,
Mary Ann, Woodbury, MN
Amanda, I can totally relate. My sons' birthdays are in February, 10th and 24th...and then we have two daughters with bdays in March and April, husband's is in May and mine in June! We celebrate for awhile! After we stopped having children, and our's are all strairsteps, I had such a longing for a "new addition" that each year for awhile, we added to our nest. Around April or May...we got a puppy one year, then two cats, then a bird, waited a couple of years and got another dog. Finally, my husband said, "Enough." But he did let us get some fish!
Favorite month...October. Love the cool, crispness of the harvest season...beautiful colors and the smell of campfires and burning leaves.
I love October for the following reasons: it is my birthday month, the weather changes, life seems to slow down a bit, kids are settled into their school routines, our LORD shows off his beauty in the colors of the leaves, it is finally time to put on some "comfy" jeans, and it feels so good to enjoy a hot cup of coffee.
Happy Birthday to Jackson and Annabeth!!
Much love,
Tisha

Amanda: I loved this: "consistency bears fruit." I am going to use that in my Mom to Mom class. I so remember the days you are speaking of - days where I felt like all I did was spank little boys and cry. But oh, I can testify that consistency does bear fruit. My sons are two such fine young men.
November is my favorite month because I love fall, Thanksgiving, my birthday, the smell of woodsmoke in the air, the colors of the maple trees, spicy candles and getting ready for Christmas and all that goes along with counting my blessings.
One of my blessings is this blog - what a sweet community.
I got a package in the mail this afternoon from Emmy (a sweet siesta from North Georgia that I traveled to the SMT with). My husband said it was from my "subculture." Sometimes these husbands don't really "get it." Do they?
Much love,
Mrs. Jan
Printed the recipe - sounds great!
Happy Birthday Jackson and Annabeth! and congratulations Amanda! When they are that young (especially 1 and 2) I always kinda felt like their birthday was a celebration for me too... like "yay, I survived!" or "yay, they've survived me!"
Anyhow, my favorite season is fall and my anniversary is in October, so I feel like I should go with that. However, my birthday is May 31 and so far, no one else in my family shares a birthday that month. So between the warm weather, spring flowers, Mother's Day and the anticipation of my birthday... I'm choosing May!
Enjoy your February,
Barb in Oxford, PA
I don't know about my favorite month, but I do know that Valentine's Day is my favorite! It's gotta be all the pink (my favorite color!) And being a third grade teacher, it's so much fun to watch the kids do the Valentine exchange and get all giddy when I tell them how much I love them! I can't wait!
My favorite month? When I was younger it was different- loved my birthday month (April) and December. At this point in time, I would probably say June. My kids are out of school, it isn't cold any more, the flowers bloom and I can wear shorts and sandals. I am WARM!, without being sticky (I live in the Northwest for crying out loud.) The LORD has taught me really to enjoy each and every season because they are all there for a reason. Sounds hokey. Hope February is good for you. You are such a sweet and gentle person, and probably a great mom too! Your kids didn't come with a handbook, and even if they did, each one would have a different one. I love you- trust Him to help you and you will be fine.
My favorite month is January. My birthday is the 30th, and I really like winter, comfort food, like potpie, stews, soup, meatloaf, and winter fits the bill.
I like February too. My husband's birthday is the 12th and our anniversary is the 26th. This year it is our 27th!!! And I love the color purple and February's birthstone is amethyst. My love of February is followed closely by April which is my birth month and it's birthstone is diamond. And I like diamonds even more than amethysts...Or even better....when they're togetner in the same setting :)
February is my favorite month..i like purple and its birthstone is amethyst, so it is purple. Purple was also my school colors for both high school and college..and it is my birthday month.. though, I quit counting what year it is several years ago!

Mine is February. My birthday is Valentine's Day &
I became a mom to my firstborn in February. <3
Recipe sounds awesome-can't wait to try it! My favorite month is May- not too hot, blue skies, flowers blooming, getting ready for summer. I think May feels...Alive! I love sunny warm days and cool-ish nights. I'm pretty sure Heaven is going to be mid 70's in the day and "light sweater weather" in the evening! :)
October. I love the watching the leaves change color AND watching football.
Happy 1st Bday to precious Annabeth, and Happy 4th Bday to big bro. Jackson! What a fun month for you...
My favorite is September because of so many September birthdays in our family, my son's Bday and mine just 7 days apart in September! Plus, I always have a feeling of new beginnings in September, I think because of school beginning and birthdays, and it's usually the time for the Jewish New Year sometime in September so it's always seems like an especially spiritual time too.
Hugs in Him,
Pam H.

Thanks for sharing the recipe. I can't wait to make it. I have one quick question. When you say "add a portion of the sauce to the meat" about how much sauce do I add? HELP!!!
I'm picking two--September b/c it's my birthday month and the school year is still new enough that the supplies are neat and the kids are still new & exciting (I teach first grade), but, then, appropriately, June when school is OUT and I don't have to think about the next year just yet.
I love December when I can take off lots of time from work, I have the house all decorated and clean, my baby comes home from college for Christmas break, and the world gets to focus on the "reason for the season!" It's an extra special treat if there is snow on the ground because 1) it reminds me that we are washed as white as snow with our Savior's blood; and 2) the snow covers up all the dirt and mess I need to clean up in the spring! January is yucky because I have to take down all the decorations, my baby goes back to college, and the snow melts and reveals the mess underneath!
February is by far my favorite month because it is my birthday month! I shared my birthday with my fabulous grandparents' anniversary while they were alive and this month brings so many good memories to mind. I also love the atmosphere during a month where love is so emphasized.
