Whew! A Quick Hello!

Hey, Darling Things! How are you? I have been in a whirlwind of activity for the last ten days and, since I'm still not quite my back to my normal abnormal, everything on the periphery has had to bow to the urgent. Out of respect to you wonderful Siestas who were not here with us in Houston last weekend, I will refrain from saying as much as I'd like. AJ penned such a fabulous recap so I'll leave my comments at this: I've never had a better time with a group in 25 years of speaking. I'm not even kidding. I wish I had the opportunity to interact like that all the time. I will never forget it. My gratitude to God overflows.

I really had an epiphany about our whole blog community while 507 of us were together last weekend at the SMT celebration. I marveled at the love and laughter between Siestas from all over the country - 42 States! - and Canada who'd come to know each other simply on the basis of expression of heart. I watched (and participated) while so many had their pictures taken together like they'd been friends all their lives and most of them hadn't been face-to-face until that very weekend. They hadn't been drawn together by a single outward characteristic. Not similar jobs, finances, age groups, appearances, or stations in life. They'd been drawn by one another's hearts in Christ and on the Internet of all things. Seeing it in action was nothing less than astonishing. I am honored to be a part of this community. You have won my respect in so many ways over the last several years. I reflect back on the days when Amanda began talking to me about starting an LPM blog and me thinking that I needed something else to do like I needed a hole in the head. I had no idea what this little town would come to mean to me. You are a big priority in my ministry life.

OK, as my friend Amy says, if we're going to serve up that much cheese, somebody grab the salsa and let's at least make queso.

My man is in the mood to talk so I'm not going to be able to carry on. I'll wrap it up by saying that God gave us the neatest group for Bible study last night. I asked them to raise their hands if they were attending for the first time and we were blown away by the numbers. I bet well over a third were brand new. I could not believe it. I hope so much they stick it out. I love the story of David. God used it in countless ways years ago to give hope and dignity back to this former pit-dweller. I find myself once again in a great place for a brand new heart. A heart a whole lot more like His.

I love you, Siestas! Let me know how you're doing! And don't be too long winded because I really do try to read as many of them as I can. If most of us see a super long one, we usually end up having to skim it just for time's sake. No telling what we're missing. Give me a shout when you get a chance. Blessings to you!

I love the sweetness of this world here! The love. The sincerity. Mostly the bond in the Savior we share.

As much fun as we have with each other.... just think of how much more fun He has in watching and interacting with His girls as we goo all about and all over Him!

I haven't met the bulk of ya'll... but I honestly love each one!

So fun to read about last weekend and to feel more glad than sad that so many had such a grand time when I couldn't be there.

And you got to hug my friend Marla--and that makes me happier than all get out.

So much love,
Joanne

I am so delighted to be doing my very first Beth Moore group study! My group is doing To Live is Christ , and I've been so blessed by it already! I've read a few Beth Moore books, but this is the first time I've been able to participate in a group!

I'm also reading Crazy Love with my husband, so God is just challenging my self-absorbed heart left and right these days, and I praise Him for it!

Hello! Maybe I've missed it, but do you have any details about the So Long, Insecurity "book group" starting next month? Our ladies group is going to do it together and go to the simulcast at the end, but they're curious to when we're starting...any news on that yet? We're really looking forward to it!

Dear Beth,
I had the privilege of being at the SSMT celebration over the weekend. I can not thank you, your daughters and the LPM staff enough! it was an incredibly moving weekend. i can tell by reading the siesta blog's that i'm not alone in my thinking. The unity of Spirit, the worship, the women, the Word God chose for you to share. All amazing. All orchestrated by our Father. we were there for one reason... not to get our picture with you (although i'm glad i did!), but to bask in the love of our glorious Savior! Thank you so much for your obedience to the call God has put on your life.
love you!

I was BLOWN AWAY by our weekend in Houston! It was amazing...more than I ever expected. 'Thank you' doesn't seem adequate for what you do when you spend so much time reading, researching, preparing and teaching God's Word.

I'm 'seeking a heart like His' with you and lovin' it.

Hi Mama!
I'm happy to be back with my 15 1/2 yr old puppy, but missing that beautiful weather - it's going to be in the single digits here the next few days - brrrrr!

Wanted to say that y'all have a great church. Awesome facility and great people. Went to church Sunday and everyone was so friendly. Ben Pritchett and a couple others helped me out with a project for school.

I was praying for y'all last night, glad it went well. Will continue to pray for your healing!

Beth, Thanks so much for the terrific teaching from Ps. 119. I just about have the run on sentence memorized and now I am going back are reading Ps. 119 and filling in verses under the phrases. My ESV has some wonderful notes and I have an older book by Charles Bridges that is a verse by verse devotional that I had planned to use this year. It has now moved to the top of the pile! It was like instant friendship. So many women with amazing stories, some heart breaking, of how God and His Word pulled them through this past year. I am looking forward to relistening to the sessions when it is "downloadable." Thank you all!

Hi Beth,
I am a fairly new Siesta, about 6 months. I worked up my nerve to post a comment because I am in my second week of the new release of Breaking Free and WHOA! I knew God was drawing me to the study when it was announced at church, but little did I know what He had in store to teach me through this study. I am trusting (gingerly but growing stronger )that "healing can flow from a wounding" and that I will be able step into that abundant life with complete abandon to Him!
Thank-you for letting God use you to teach.

I would love to connect with any siestas who may be coming. Beth, I hope you are getting some rest after your whirlwind schedule. Trying to keep this short so I'll sign off wishing all of you peace and blessings,

I can't wait for your new book to come out this coming week. Did you realize your book on insecurity is debuting on Groundhog day? I thought it was kind of funny in a silly way that a book on insecurity is coming out on a day when a groundhog is so unsure about himself that he can make us all have 6 more weeks of winter! Can you tell that I'm kind of a simple person who tries to find the silliest things to smile about? :)
God bless you as you continue to get your strength back.

OK--here's a funny story for you. I live in Indiana where there is corn and corn then some more CORN!! One day when I was driving home with my 3 year old--she was looking at the snow melting off the corn fields. She could see the "fertilizer" they had put on the fields. Her mind was churning and out came---Mommy, what are they going to do with all that "fertilizer" (with the p-word)?" Well, honey they are going to leave it and plow it into the field. It will go into the ground. My three year old response---OH! Then, we get to dump it on Satan's head!! She laughed so much--she thought that was the best thing ever!!

I am amazed that you' be interested in how I'm doing but thanks for asking.

I am just finalising the planning for this semester's bible study. We are going to do 'me, myself and lies' in our group as I liked it so much last summer. I am also starting to lead a seeker course at church and setting up a SMT blog for my own ladies in my local church. Really seeking the Lord's guiding as to whether I should leave 'business' and work in full-time minstry in our local community. Exciting ,scarey, overwhelming, humbling times - oh and I am enjoying being a mom to the two most beautiful little Girls this side of the atlantic!

Hi Beth. I'm about to leave for bible study (Jesus, The One and Only) so will make this short. I had a blast. I just felt it wasn't long enough or maybe I just didn't put enough into it. I really enjoyed the lesson and the praisin'. I have never been in a room of so many people singing at the top of their lungs and raising those hands. I didn't get to talk to you one on one (which I really wanted to do) but I believe that one day we will. The one thing that has stuck with me from your message is that we are aliens. That is so true for me. My own husband and children look at me like I'm crazy. It was great to spend time with women that didn't think that way.

Thanks Beth for all you do.

Hey! I love this Siesta community too!!

What I'm so excited about this semester is that my church is doing the Esther study and when you ask us on day one's homework what we hope to get out of it, I realized what I want is a radical life change, to be sold out for God, and to know my God! Hey, I mean, why not?!!! WHY NOT RADICAL?!!! I'm so excited! :-)

Beth,
I am leading a small group from our church (+ a few other churches) in A Woman's Heart. We just completed Week 3 homework. I just had to share this with you...
On Sunday morning, our pianist starting playing "More Precious than Silver" during the prayer. I immediately thought "Oh, she did her homework this week, that' why she is playing this. I mentioned it to her after church, and she had this blank look on her face. She told me during class last night that she had not done the day 2 lesson yet, and she did not realize what I was talking about when I mentioned it. She said she had never actually played that song before and she just opened the book and felt the Lord wanted her to play that song! It gets better though--- two other ladies that attend two different churches in our group also said that they walked in church this past Sunday morning and THEIR worship leaders had also already picked out "More Precious than Silver"!!! Don't you love when we can see the fingerprints of God!!!

It killed me to miss last weekend. I would have loved the chance to hug the necks of so many of my dear girlfriends whom I know only because of the blessing of the blogosphere.

That said, my pregnant belly demanded I stay put. (It's so pushy.) And this time, I didn't even send my head. (I sent a head shot of myself with my good friend Missy for the Siesta Fiesta last year. It was a great time and photo opp until someone left me behind at a restaurant.)

To answer your question: I feel big. But God's blessings enlarge us, don't they?

I am struggling with trusting the Lord in the big areas--waiting on a husband and baby (I'm going to be 37 this summer and never married; have to adopt since had hyst when 27)...struggling with being content with all my blessings (because I know I have a lot). SOOO very thankful that the love of my life (my 2 yr old niece) said "I love you" a couple weeks ago...changed my life! :) Take care of you! Love you! :)

First I want to say that I am so excited for you and all who were in Houston this last weekend. It sounds like God truly blessed. I was so sad that I could not go, but yet at peace with it.

How am I doing? Well, I am doing great. God has been amazing. He has provide for our needs and the financial need of my college going children in ways I could have never imagined. Even when I had no idea how it was all going to work I knew that whatever happened God was in absolute control and I had peace about it. What I am most grateful for is the fact that while there has been some temptation to fear I have been walking in great victory. Which is only God.

I am still "unpacking" all that God had to tell me.....and if I thought for one minute that I didn't need to read the new book on Insecurity? Yeah, that question got answered was loudly answered as well!

Hi Beth, Amanda, Melissa, and the wonderful LPM staff!

Thank you sooo much for such an amazing weekend!!!

As long as we're at it I will contribute some cheese for the queso party :). Meeting you, Beth, was wonderful and surreal. I was the deer in the headlights who forgot the flood of words I wanted to say to you about how Jesus has drawn me so tenderly to Him through your anointed and powerful teaching and life. A 41-year-old woman morphed into a seven-year-old girl meeting her favorite Disney princess. The only difference being that a 7-year-old would have communicated better.

I still keep pinching myself that God gave me a weekend with my mom and over 500 Scripture-memorizing, Jesus-loving, pink boa-clad fantastic women in 75 degree weather. He is so kind to me and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. I don't have my own blog, but I almost want to start one just so I can blog about this weekend of joy!

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

Love,

PS Melana, I was one of the 13 people you talked with in the airport and it was such a delight!

Other than that just getting ready to watch American Idol with my daughters. (Or should I call it A.I.?)

How awesome to have all those new women at the study...I'll be praying for them and you. The David study is/was so good.

Beth,

I am so glad you are almost back up to full power! I'm still learning how to get used to living with a broken heart as my dearest, loving, godly dad went to Heaven in September. I know you know what it's like.

Thank you for remembering those of us who can't and may never be able to get to a Siesta event though we would be there in a heartbeat if we could.

I'm glad for your blog - it keeps me feeling connected. You are such a blessing!

I was one of the Canadian women in Houston on the weekend. I love what you said in this post about our connection based simply on our heart expressions. Isn't that just wild, on the internet no less!! I just love it. Thank you so much for such an amazing time in Houston. I loved every minute of it. Bless you and thank you.

Oh Siesta Mama, thank you SO much for what you and the girls and your staff did for us this past weekend. You're right - we were all friends from the start!

I blogged and posted a video about our experience at the celebration and about how me and my friend Lara were gifted with the PRESIDENTIAL SUITE at the Omni. God's outpouring on us was RIDICULOUS! Thanks for making it possible! Much love to you!

Beth,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for last weekend. It was absolutely incredible. My only disappointment was not getting to meet you in person, but I had to run out of there Saturday to get to the airport. I can only hope that we will have another opportunity to meet. I pray you and your staff had as much fun and were as blessed as I was this past weekend in Houston. Please consider doing this again. I think I even have my 84 year old mother talked in to doing it next time!!!!

I love you, dear sister in Christ,

Beth,

I had a very short and sweet dream about you last night: I was standing in a line at an airport, watching the people go by. Then I noticed these two ladies running through the airport. As "they" sped by, I noticed it was a short blonde with a tall brunette: it was you and Melissa! You were holding her by the hand, leading her as you ran like the wind, and she was barely keeping up. I said, "Wow! Look how fast that lady can run in high heels!!"

That's it, but it sure brought a smile to my face this morning!

Hi Beth,
It was great reading Amanda's recap and browse through other blogs to see pictures. Although I would have loved to have been there, for me the greatest miracle was that I was able to memorize over 24 scripture passages.
The Lord did 2 amazing things for me through this memorization.
For the past several years I was unable to memorize no matter how hard I tried. But, as soon as I made the commitment last January, a miracle happened where memorizing became a breeze. By the time I wrote the verse in my spiral, I could say it without help. Only God could have done that. And, the other miracle was that the Lord chose every one of my verses, and each was just what I needed for the 2 weeks. He did that for me!
I am continuing on my own this year. Don't want to miss out on the blessing!
Thank you for your faithful ministry to us. For challenging us to do the impossible only to discover that "all things are possible to those who believe".

Hi Beth! Can I just tell you how much I have enjoyed this blog. One of my very favorite sites. About 5 yrs ago I wrote to your staff explaining my being healed from cancer. Thought I'd give you an update since I feel like a part of you has been with me and my family (in the form of being in several of your studies since then) Doctors said babies may not be possible after my treatment. I had Izzy one year after, and am due in July with number 3. God is so faithful. This journey has been hard but well worth where God has taken us. Love to you.

Siesta Mama Beth-
I'm doing well. I'm still coming down from that fabulous weekend we had together. I haven't come down all the way though because I just spent the morning with my Bible Study group (I'm leading A Women's Heart) sharing pictures and recapping the whole thing. I think I have them convinced to participate the next time you offer us the opportunity.
Anyways, thank you so much for bringing us all together and giving us the chance to meet so many other amazing women who share such a passion for Christ.

You asked how things are, and I'm just going to tell you that I've been feeling pretty lonely lately. Whew, that was tough to "say" for some reason.

Anyway, Beth, I'm glad you're doing better and on the mend. Will be continuing to pray for you and for all the Siestas.

Mama Siesta, it was a great time & it was very neat to quickly bond b/c we'd memorized scripture & we love God. Thank you for being real (air guitar, really?), funny, and giving us some fresh teaching on all 176 verses of Psalm 119. You have a fabulous, friendly, helpful team. The Texas Sheet Cake was divine - I gave up sugar on Jan 2 but had to cheat with that one. Loved it. And, thanks for the daily planner gift - I'm using it as a Thankful Journal. By 2011 I hope to have 344 days of intentionally being thankful for something (even if I gotta dig).

My sister and I meet on Tuesdays for the Bible study. She is at HBU and my family and I live in Conroe. Although, she is my favorite sister there, I have to say that worshipping and studying with a couple thousand more sisters is pretty exciting!

By the way, I loved your outfit last night. I did get tickled, though, when it crossed my mind that your top looked like a turquoise version of the puffy shirt from Seinfeld. "I don't want to be a pirate!"

Well the weekend was much needed in many ways..when the first chord for worship was heard by my ears, a flood of emotion overtook me...When people come to worship together, already in the Spirit and in depserate expectation for the Word, it never ceases to amaze me how different the atmosphere is... I have often over the past few day's thrown my hand out with my fist and said..Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path...Looking at my feet, this is the only thing I need to know, the next step, and that He will accomplish everything according to His Word! This gorup of women absolutely bless my heart in so many ways, as you you sweet Beth!

Just to let you know, I started Breaking Free last night. My heart overflowed as women shared a little about themselves (one woman could hardly talk as she explained what it meant to be in study with the women at our table; we have been together for one year now and we are tight. It was so precious to me.

Isn't it amazing how women who don't even know each other can come together and share an immediate bond.

We love you Beth Moore. Thank you for being so brave. Thank you for believing in us and cheering us on to walk in the freedom that Christ purchased for us.

Wish I could have been with all of you last weekend - so glad to hear
so many ladies were able to attend.

My baby Micah is nearly 6 months. Chris & I have been blown away by how much you can love your little one. A taste of the Father's love to be sure. He's wiggling on my lap as I type.

Friday Chris & me & Micah are heading to a small conference in IL pending the weather. If all goes as planned I will be leading the group in Bible study. On my knees. Asking for humility in my heart and His utterances.

That's all with me. If you can send a prayer our way please do.

AWWW, thanks Mrs. Beth! You are quite hysterical, and I completely loved my time in Houston. So many fun laughs. I don't think I have laughed in one weekend that much in a long time. The "georgia girls" were a blast and I love that Christ is what unites us. I loved the goal and fulfillment in memorizing my scriptures. So many I selected, I remembered from long ago when I was a little girl in Bible drill in Training Union and Mission Friends. I knew where to find them and quite quickly, but didn't have them completely in my heart! Oh, how I have learned the word of God is the offensive weapon we have against Satan!

Thank you to the entire LPM staff for such a great job in every detail of the weekend. I felt loved on from the minute I stepped in and sweet Cheryl? told us how to get to the closest Starbucks! What an angelic woman!

I hope you all enjoy the Be Our Guest cards I passed on. . CFA is the heart and soul (and benefactor) of what we do! Thanks for the advertisement!

Psalm 119, what a great chapter to teach on. . 176, yes m'am, I remember. I am a great student! To sit under your teaching is true blessing every time! Thank you for being God's instrument in so many lives!

I am so happy that the event was so special! I would love to have been there! Living vicariously through the blogs of those who were there, did the trick. ;)

I couldn't stop laughing when i read about Beth's air guitar moves - and that she is THAT cool to do it on a neighborhood walk.

I am SO blessed by this blog. It fills in the [huge] gap that i have, living in another country with many acquaintances, but no REAL friends. I grew SO much last year with the Bible memorization.

The May 15th verse (Psalm 94:18-19) really did keep my foot from slipping, as i went in for surgery a week later... Literally. I was lying with my spiral in the hospital bed, when thought i'd lost it somehow. Then i saw it was physically under. my. foot.

God cracks me up so much, sometimes. ...so do you other Siestas - but you, Miss Beth, are a case! I say that with the utmost affection. :D

<3 to all...

I still find myself thinking about the weekend and just trying to process it all. My friend and I talked to your sweet daughters and took pictures with them and with you. Thank you for taking the time out to do that for us! From someone who considers you a mentor of many, many years (a former pit dweller deluxe myself), it was a dream come true meeting the one who has helped me look to the One that lifted me out of that pit and set my feet upon a rock and given me a firm place to stand. I thought last weekend, knowing how you have told us that many times your schedule can cause you to feel isolated. I couldn't help but think that possibly it was a little easier to love on 507 up close in a smaller setting and I hope that you felt loved on as much!! I've never loved you more! This blog is family! Isn't God so very good?!

Otherwise, homeschooling 4 and supporting my man in work and the places God is granting him to serve out of His own history of captivity. DO IT LORD!!!! Thank you to all for the incredible weekend. I was so stressed out on Friday between the nerves of meeting new people, driving in Houston, and the pressure of saying my verses to "a stranger". Then, the laughter, the worship, and some sleep brought a new perspective. I was disappointed to be one of those who didn't get to meet you personally, especially since in my neck of the woods, I'm know as the biggest "Beth geek" around. Then...God spoke..specific things that I was asking Him about ...through the sweetness of women speaking his word, Your message, Travis'music, and a sassy new friend from Alabama. I wasn't able to go the minister's wives conf. last year due to my in-laws 50th anniversary party. Then I missed the simulcast because I was sick...I am so needing me some Beth Moore throw-down-the-meat-of-God's-Word teaching.

Love you Beth!!

So glad y'all had fun. Planning to see you in B'ham on Feb. 10 which happens to be my 20th Anniversary. This year I'm doing two things: (1) still doing my spiral from last year and loving God's word all over again (2) exercising to be healthy.

See you in a couple of weeks! J

While I am trying not to be envious, I wanted to say that we can't wait until SO LONG INSECURITIES! I am ready to "BREAK FREE" from some of those in my life.

I am so honored to be exposing some ladies to your teaching for the first time.

Blog friends please pray: Every Thursday after I teach school I go to a ladies home for addictions and go through the "BREAKING FREE" book with them.
I am so thankful that I have this source. God has empowered me and given me the privilege of being able to minister to these ladies. THank you Beth for giving us these resources.
I love you for it!

Hi Ho, Siesta Mama and Siestas,

I just noticed something so amusing -- The "word verification" thing that I have to fill in this time says "litem"; and at first I thought nothing of it... But then, I looked at it more closely, and it became two "words":
"lit 'em".

And, I do believe that our precious Lord Jesus did just that at the SMT Celebration: He "lit 'em up" !!! And, it fits so perfectly, as I was not able to join in on the excitement down there in Houston, even though I was part of the SMT group last year...

But, I was with all of Y'all in my heart!

And, like Siesta Barbara, I am so grateful for this LPM Blog ! And, yes, I, too, feel so very well connected to the other siestas on this blog; especially since we have the Lord Jesus at the heart of each of us... And, with a "little" bit of help from our Siesta Mama, we can still learn more and more about Him from afar ...

I love all of Y'all !

In Christ's Love,

Jennifer Olmstead

Janesville, WI

P.S. Is anyone else out there in Siestaville "game to go for another year of Scripture Memory ???" I don't feel like I can just "stop" after 24 passages . . . And, sweet Beth, there doesn't have to be a celebration for it ... You just got me goin', and I don't wanna stop now !!!

Just started BELIEVING GOD with our weekly Bible study. God has used your studies so precisely in the past 10 years of my faith walk. His timing is impeccable!

This past year as my 3yr old daughter battles cancer, I've discovered the true depths of my faith and the strong roots I have in Christ. I have been singing His praises and walking in His truths since the day she was diagnosed. Praise be to God!!

As I sit here the night before her next round of scans to check for relapse, the 'scanxiety' seeps in. I am SO thankful for the truths of this study to hang on to at a time like this. God is using you in a mighty way!!

May his love continue to build you up and refresh you in an amazing way!
With gratitude,
Amber

I am home from my home church. We are doing the Bible Study - more of a discipleship - called Self Confrontation. A Biblical Approach to Life and its issues. Lots and lots of scripture; based solely on God's Word. I need this because I'm facing hard issues that require me to act in God's truth. It's been a hard day 'cause of the internal battle. Love God's word, precepts, commandments, statutes but sometimes I need to depend on His grace to help me surrender to them instead of fulfill my own desires. Still memorizing.

Love you all and the support and encouragement we share!!!

Hi Siesta Momma! I just started back to part time work this week after being home full time for the last 10 1/2 years. I'm an accountant and God provided a job now that my twins are in school. Can we just say ADJUSTMENT?! It's like starting over.

I loved reading Amanda's recap of the weekend. I would love to have been there and I almost was thanks to your sweet Amanda, Jenn H. and Nancy at LPM. They worked to make a way for me, but in the end I didn't feel God's peace about leaving on such short notice. Sounds like such a great time. I will not miss the next one...God willing!

Beth - I laughed out loud when I saw your previous post about re-taping the David Bible study. My women's group is doing the study right now. Girl, your hair in these sessions is almost too much to handle. Of course it's from the mid-1990's & toally unfair to judge it by today's standards but oh, how hard that is. Besides that, we're enjoying it. Thanks for re-taping it though.

It was a weekend I will never forget! Just wanted to share a quick note about what the Lord said to me on Friday: He gently reminded me of how I have told Him many times in the past "I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel". He whispered, "That's because the light is not at the end of the tunnel; it's right it front of you." I have been focusing on "end of the tunnel" steps instead of "right in front of me" steps.
I LOVE nothing more than when the Lord speaks to me, those moments are treasures.

Hey Beth,

I attended an interesting faculty meeting today. And for those of you who aren't teachers -- "interesting faculty meeting" is usually an oxymoron.

Anyway, if you have five minutes and you haven't already seen it, you may want to check out a video on YouTube entitled "2008 Latest Edition - Did You Know?" It has to do with the way in which information technology is changing human society.

The sobering part of the ensuing discussion? The way in which this kind of globalization invites relativism. After all, how can you not be awash in competing truth claims when so many gigabytes can zoom to your iphone in mere seconds?

I hope this post wasn't too heavy, but boy was that faculty discussion thought-provoking. And you did ask what I was up to.

Hey Beth!

I'm thrilled y'all had such a grand time last weekend!

I'm working solo on the updated version of Breaking Free. It's my first time doing this particular study.

School is the latest news I have to share right now. After twenty-eight years out of the classroom I'm back in on a part-time basis. My semester began a couple of weeks ago with an Art History class covering the Medieval to Renaissance period. I'm just flat out living on the WORD to do this and always have my index cards in plain sight when I'm reading, studying, or writing. My first graded assignment was returned to me today and I'm thrilled to report, PRAISE JESUS, that I received an A+!!! It may be the only one I ever get but it sure feels good to at least get one.

Thank you for teaching me to memorize scripture! Glad you're doing well.

Love you,

Dear anonymous Siesta at 6:58,
I'm so sorry you feel that you have been left out and that all the blog talks about is the SMT celebration. But I think that Amanda and Beth and the LPM staff have shown a great deal of restraint in NOT making the blog all about the scripture memory team. And many many times over the weekend, those who were not in attendance were thought of, mentioned and prayed for. I'm certainly not able to attend EVERY LPM event, but I rejoice with my Siestas who ARE there, because I know God is doing something IN them and likely THROUGH them, because they have been there. And it is a thrill and a blessing to me to see the recaps of those events because of what I see on the faces of those dear women. Even your use of the word "club" leads me to think that you believe this was an exclusive thing that only certain special individuals could be a part of. With everything I've come to know about Beth, Amanda, Melissa and the LPM ministry...THAT is the last thing that would EVER happen.

I think you need to read Beth's entry again. AND I think you need to go back and honestly look over the entries over the last year. So much more there, than this "club".

I'm praying that God will give you the delight of time with the Siestas at an event this year to cheer you and bless you! Because it surely will! And I pray you will share your joy with others, so that they too can know the fullness and richness of life in the Body!

In Christ,
Melana

Drove 15 hours to be in Houston for the Celebration and it was SO WORTH IT!!!

My fellow siesta buddy, Mindy, was concerned about the trip b/c she had to prep for a bible study leaders meeting on Monday night.

What was she scheduled to teach on?

Psalm 119.

Nearly knocked us TO THE GROUND when you taught on it.

Prep completed.

We had an amazing time. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making it special.

Love you,
Susan

P.S. 100 other God things happened, too. Too long to mention. Praise the Lord for them all.

I am still overflowing from the weekend. It was INCREDIBLE!
Needed to share with you...Your air guitar lick story...That very song is one that I developed a routine for our creative movement praise team...We definitely got our groove on with that one as you can well imagine. Anyway, during the routine when the song got to the guitar lick I always read some Scripts, and the girls were supposed to just sort of sway and clap...which they did during worship. But EVERY time during practice, I had two girls, one being my own daughter, who played air guitar like nobody's business! Thought you would smile at that!

Love you! Oh, and we started Revelation last week. Very pumped about it!!!

I was so overjoyed by 507 siestas in the room Friday night that I couldn't stop tears rolling down my face for the first 25 minutes we were gathered. I was confused by the line of women that formed spontaneously that was no where near the cake or coffee. Then I laughed and took a picture of the line when I realized Mrs. Beth was a receiving line all her own! I didn't join in because I didn't want to contribute to taxing her health - it was a looooong line.

So, being off to the side enjoying the view, I got to meet Erica. She couldn't come on Saturday and wanted to recall her Scriptures to another siesta that night. Big shout out to her because she had them down pat and I was so impressed. I loved that her spiral had little scribbles in it from the participation of her 3 & 5 y.o. daughters who helped her with her memorization throughout the year! Love it!

Erica and I talked a while and told each other things you usually only tell close friends. That's what amazed me so much about the nature of this community. We siestas love each other like we've been longtime, dear friends - even when we've never met! That's what the event seemed like to me - in a nutshell. Women who had never met loved on one another, worshipped and studied together, and shared God's Word together - even those who didn't get to attend in person. Amazing!

Thank you to the entire LPM staff for a great event! And I'm glad Tuesday nights are going again too - I've missed it greatly.

Much love to all,
Lynnette in Houston

I carried my spiral in my purse all year and had a blast memorizing verses. BUT I couldn't come to Houston for the celebration. I was soooo sad.

Recently the Lord impressed me that I am in a season of His blessing. We have had serious issues with our 16-yr-old son for a couple of years, and at times I wondered how or IF we'd make it. He was so angry at us for things we didn't do intentionally. Some sessions with a godly counselor helped our family. In the last several months his anger seems to have gone away. He still doesn't talk to us much, but at least he can be civil. He's involved with the youth at church, has a part-time job, and is making good grades. Our other two kids are also serving the Lord at church and through their witness at school. My job is going well, and things have picked up in the oil field for my husband's job.

God has told me all along to trust Him, for HE is faithful. My life and that of my family is a testimony of this truth!

i'm teaching a theology class at my church- 35 women come every other week to learn the nuts and bolts of christianity. i just made a colorful handout that has all the books of the bible on a timeline to make it less intimidating. it was like a kindergarten arts and crafts project. they loved it. a very closed off women who i have been reaching out to at my boys school for the past 2 years showed up last week. i don't think she is a believer. she gave me a huge hug. i am very encouraged. pray for protection over my marriage and my capabilities as a mom. i feel satan picking at me on the home front. thanks for your encouragement through the blog.

Oh Beth. Dear Beth, what an amazing weekend! I am so grateful for you and your wonderful staff. Thank you for being there for us even if the Dr.had not released you yet!

I'm glad to hear of the many newcomers who attened your bible study; will keep them in prayer. I too hope that this study will find me with a heart more like His; the next time I take the new release.
Blessings, Evie.

After having my socks blessed off, and I had a moment to let everything sink in, I had this epiphany: What a gift that in all the thousands of years of history, I am this girl, who has been chosen to get to live in America, at a season where there is Living Proof Ministries cheering us on and smiling and hugging and a Beth Moore to make us laugh our heads off, then immediately gasp with the wonder of God's love.
Humbled. And so, sooooo appreciative of all the team gave us. Thank you!

It was a blessing beyond words to be in Houston this weekend! As others have mentioned, my friend and I (who came together from Lancaster, PA) were aware of God's graciousness to us over and over.
Remember how you talked about experiencing God's pleasure in lesson 10 of BELIEVING GOD? Since I recently finished leading that study it was fresh on my mind and was definitely our experience throughout the SMT celebration. So sweet.
And I'm so glad to hear that the weekend was an encouragement to you. Praying that would be the case.
Love you, sweet Beth! Continuing to pray for healing and strength for you.

I had a great time this weekend!!! I've decided to memorize Psalm 91 this year I think it's an important psalm and will help me to claim God's protection. I know he doesn't give us a world free from danger but he does promise his help in times of danger.

I was so excited to meet your daughters and your staff!! I loved hugging that Kimberly she prayed over me one day and I about squeezed the life out of her when I realized who she was.

Thank you for such a great weekend and our picture turned out great I was so excited to get a picture!!!! I'll send you one! I love you my siesta mama, my siesta sisters amanda and melissa and my aunts kimberly, nancy, Jennifer, Sabrina, susan, Well I met most of them!!

Thanks for asking, Ms. Beth! I had a wonderful day with my 9 and 8 year old today at a homeschool program. It was held at a place called Longwood Gardens, (which holds a special place in my heart anyway), and it was just such a neat time of exploring God's creation and gettin' our praise on about flowers and pollinators!

And thanks, to all my siestas who made it to the celebration last weekend, I was with you in spirit and prayer. Reading your comments makes me more happy than sad!

Love you all,
Barbra in Oxford

Such an amazing weekend! I never in my life thought I could memorize 24 scriptures! I DID it!

What an incredible thing to have these truths planted deep in your heart! I can't tell you what a gift this has been! I am so grateful!

I ADORE being able to pray them back... meditate on them... in a crisis lean on them... when you can't sleep go over them... and nothing is more EXCITING then when you are reading along in your Bible and you come across a scripture you memorized and you (or at least I) leap with JOY inside your heart and think... "OH! Hi! I KNOW you! You are my FRIEND!" It just makes me smile! : )

This is such a precious community! My heart truly overflows with love for you girls! So fun! : )

I am grateful! Thank you! Emmy

In a current fight to freedom from a stronghold I have had for most of my life (24 days)... God is winning, and thus so am I!!!

I realized something this time around. Although there are other personal motives for me wanting to be free in this area, my main reason this time is to please God and that is the best motivation I have ever had to want to fight to be free.

I love you so...You dear Beth have a part in my freedom journey...you will never know how much...

I'm so grateful for the spiritual shot I received from being with you last weekend and the 506 other women who love God's word. I'm still fighting to plant what God showed me before I pass it on, but it's hard!

My new friends: Diedre, Tracy, Laurie, Tami, Yvonne, Bethany--what up??!! Holla!

Well, I am mostly missing you my sweet friend. Got home from choir practice a little while ago.

My List from the SMT:

1. I don't believe I've ever enjoyed being with a group of women more in my life. I'm still so full in my heart.

2. The presence of Jesus was palatable because we were like-minded and had been "on mission" for one year and our hearts were knit together!

3. Your LPM staff are the sweetest servants around. They love us.

4. FBC Houston made me proud to be Southern Baptist. I'm just saying.

5. That green sauce at Pappasitos was worth the trip.

6. I want to be Travis Cottrell's other mother.

7. I posted on my blog that I KNEW you were having the best time because you had the chance to love on us siestas up close, something that you can't do in an arena. It is like we were all on your front porch!

8. Amanda and Melissa rose up and called you blessed and I could squeeze them!

9. Now it's your turn to come sit on my front porch!

10. I Love you!
GJ

Last year at about this time you asked for prayer requests. I went out on a limb that day and shared on here that I was walking right into a relationship that was not healthy and I was DEPERATE...DESPERATE!! (I'm a pastor's wife and had NO ONE to turn to) THAT VERY NIGHT it all came out...my husband and I got help, found someone to talk to, and I was SET FREE! I think back to where I was 12 months ago...never do I want to walk that road again.

I canNOT believe I had to miss last weekend. I am sick.

Up in West Central Minnesota we have started the 1996 A Heart Like His. We are so excited to study the life of David. On our first night every woman in my small group wanted to know how a guy who made as many bad choices as David still turned out to be a "man after God's own heart." It gives us hope.

We would also like to know how you got your hair that big. We Minnesota gals have to have our hats pulled on tight this time of year, so our hair is pretty flat. We are just in AWE.

Hey Beth! Good to see you getting back your strength again! Enjoyed reading the recap of the weekend.
I'm facilitating Jesus, the One and Only in my home. We have just started and I am having a great time -- God has drawn a fabulous group of ladies together. I wanted to share a very cool thing God did last Sunday morning -- I had settled in my comfy recliner with coffee in hand, ready to study the first day’s lesson of Week 2. I opened the workbook and saw the first passage was Luke 2:21-39. As I started reading I truly did not get past verse 21 before I hesitated and stopped to meditate. Several verses came to mind---and I wrote the phrase sanctity of life in my journal. Little did I realize when I went to church, opened my bulletin and read the insert … Sunday was Sanctity of Human Life Sunday!!!! What an awesome reminder of God's perfect timing!!
Luke 2:21---On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise Him, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before he had been conceived.

I am still dissecting Psalm 119...loved it and learned alot! Then, on Sunday with your Pastor's sermon...again...loved and learned. We're praising the Lord for every minute and memory!

You know what amazes me? I'm amazed at how many Christiam women there are out there who sit down once in a while and share their hearts with people they haven't ever met or seen on their own blogs. It's unbelievable! Just think how that could impact the world for Christ when people are just crusing through blogger-land and hit "next blog" and see Christ up front and in action in these ladies' lives. With all of the junk on the internet, it's a blessing to see it being used in such a way. Only God.

Hello Mama Beth,
So good to hear from you. I just love you and I sure would have liked to see that guitar air thing. YOu know I have so enjoyed all the siestas sharing with us. I tell you someone posted a picture of that cake and it was to die for.

I am having a bit of a stressful week but I have continued my memory verses and boy have they helped me not say something I really wanted to and just be wise in keeping my mouth shut. Boy has that been hard. Thank you for enstilling something in me I thought I couldn't do and would you believe I teach in a Christian school and have my students learn memory and I shared how I never thought I could do it and they were the best encouragement. They still aske me like clock work are you working on your verses...I can't let them down.

I just love all you siestas here. You are the sisters I have always wanted and I havn't met a one of yall but I feel like I have. This is such a place of love and blessing to my heart.

Mama Beth I can't wait to read your book and do our study.

by the way you look fabulous. The other day I saw bump its and I had to giggle...cause honestly I have never seen them here before and it was like wow...Mama Beth would be impressed.

I know you said short...so I will close and sorry for being so long in words.

love to you and all the siestas
