MM&L and a First for Annabeth

Hi ladies! This week has been quite a ride! We are so excited about our summer study and we love how excited you are, too. It's been really fun seeing all of your pictures. I squealed when the group pics started rolling in late Tuesday night.

I have a few new details about our summer Bible study:

A) Jennifer Rothschild, the author of Me Myself & Lies, has a blog!

B) Jennifer wrote a song based on Psalm 19 called "Let the Words." Her hope was that women would connect with the song and use it to reinforce the idea of words (like the ones we say to ourselves) being "acceptable to you, Oh Lord." A free MP3 download of the song and a music video are available here.

C) LifeWay has provided a free download of the first week of homework for anyone who doesn't have their book just yet. You can get it here.

I've done my MM&L study the last two mornings and it is already impacting me so much. I don't know about you, but I really need this. Mom and I had lunch at a cute little tea room today and we had our own discussion about our thought closets. That was nice because I had to miss my group's first meeting. (Jackson was sick, but he's all better now.)

By the way, Mom and I looked like lunatics at the restaurant because we took pictures the whole time. How could we not document and therefore blog about Annabeth's first lunch at a tea room? When Mom grabbed a tiny tea cup off a shelf and positioned it in Annabeth's hand for a photo op, I thought we were going to get kicked out. Thankfully we didn't. If I'd had to miss out on coconut cake because of her misbehavior, it would not have been pretty.

Here are some pictures from Annabeth's first tea room experience - the first of many.

Annabeth with the cup that my mom was apparently willing to purchase today. It was a very risky two seconds.

Praise the Lord.

Annabeth realizing we were going to have to take Bibby back to work.

Melissa, we will go again when you're here!

Thanks for the free download. Didn't decide to sign up until the last minute and my book isn't here yet.

That's just too cute!

I, too have thoroughly enjoyed my first 2 days of MM&L. Just what I needed to make it through the summer and be ready for the fall season! Looking forward to possibly sharing it with a women's group in September.

Thanks so much for the introduction to Jennifer Rothschild. I think we'll be great friends! :-)

What fun for you girls. I am doing a Song of Soloman women's study this summer (couldn't afford another book), so,(sniffle) I was unable to do this one, but I may download the first week just to read over myself. I'm real intrested in that "thought closet" idea.

Love the pictures, keep 'em coming.

Blessings to ya'll,

Here in NW Arkansas we have an old fashioned tea room. It's in an old two-story house that's been restored. The lady that runs it has all sorts of functions: b-day parties, wedding showers, meetings, etc. She has on stock not less than 100 old timey dresses, hats, boas, long gawdy jewelry, etc. A friend of mine had her daughter's 6th birthday party there. All the girls got dressed up for tea AND SO DID THE MOMS! CUTE! The owner provides cake, tea, ice cream, all the china. It's amazing. She keeps a picture of EVERY event in various scrapbooks!

Amanda, thanks for sharing these moments with us. My husband finds it so silly that I'm interested in the "behind the scenes" of your family but I try to explain- "this is where you find the authenticity. They are just like me indeed. They play, drink coffee/tea, read, hike, shop, etc... and they LOVE LOVE LOVE Jesus."

Oh and... I'M COMMITTING MY WAY UNTO THE LORD AND I'M RELYING ON HIS WORDS, NOT MINE!

Ya'll are my kind of people and I do indeed appreciate you sharing these fun things. I pray for all of you daily.

Now I just have to agree, I love the homework...and I don't "think" it is because I am a teacher. Really it is so much more meaningful than any homework I can remember, Hum... That cake did look amazing! Does it come in chocolate? We had our first meeting at a coffee shop, but a tea room is such a fun idea. I will look into this too for future meeting dates. It's so much fun to be in the Word together.

We did the same thing with my granddaughter. Fortunately for us, a professional photographer was in the tearoom and her studio was next door. She took our picture and went to her studio and put it on a cd for us. She also captioned the date on it!

Annabeth is a beautiful baby!

Beth, Amanda and Melissa,

Have to let you know that I am the mom to 5 beautiful girls: Katharine Anne, age 11, Rebecca Ruth, age 9, Emma Jane, age 7, Laura Rose, age 5, and Caroline Grace, age 11 months. We are tea drinkers here, including my husband. Even our cat is named Earl Grey. We "do tea" every Sunday evening together, complete with scones, fine china, cucumber sandwiches and loose leaf tea. It is my dream to someday own and operate my own tea room. It will be called "The Tea Cozy." If that dream ever becomes a reality, you will receive an engraved invitation to the grand opening.

I love knowing this behind the scenes things about you. Makes you human. BTW, Annabeth is TOO CUTE!

How sweet!! My granddaughters are still in toddler mode and I cannot imagine taking them anywhere there are breakables! Soon we should be able to take the older one to our local tea room, and I will be sure to document it!

These first two days of homework have been so great and I can already feel the changes beginning in me. I have to tell you that at the end of the first day when I read "Who I am and what I struggle with are not the same thing", I tingled from the tips of my toes to the top of my head. My hair had chill bumps!! I just sat here and praised God and knew that the Holy Spirit was telling me how important that sentence is going to be for me. Praise Him and thank you for choosing this study!!!

The is a lovely Tea room in Sugar Land called Serenatea you might want to check out. She does need her own tea set soon. Having tea is the experience more that the liquid so coffee, milk, hot chocolate, or even lemonade or water, is fine too.

Got my book yesterday but thanks for all your help you ladies are amazing and we love you very much and appreciate you even more.
Thanks again

That looks like it was a blast! Annabeth is a "doll baby".
We don't have a tea room in our little town but it looks like it would be just up my alley.
Beth- Have a great weekend and we'll pray for the Spirit to move in miraculous ways!

Glad ya'll are training her early. Girl talk and coconut cake could probably solve the problems in the middle east.

Love the pics of Annabeth! Beautiful baby!
Love tea rooms! Hope to share one with a granddaughter someday.

Can't believe the post I left the other day about "a good argument can clear the cobs..." Oh, do you remember those famous last words! My husband and I have been married for 30 years and haven't had one of those good old blow outs for quite some time. But we are in a doozy now! I can see the enemy in this one. Feel he would seek to take me out with a single blow! He is mean in his fighting! I don't like him! (the enemy of our souls!) Would you help me give him a black eye today?

I don't like giving him much attention, but when you are battling face to face it is hard not to mention him. For now I am heading face down so that I can see a different face and win this battle. Please, please pray for us. I have been humbled and reminded how much I hate to fight!!!!

Thank you so much!

Blessings to ya all!

Looks like Annabeth really enjoyed her tea room experience! I hope you shared the coconut cake so she'll learn it SHOULD be a staple!! One of my fav memories of my little Granny was her Coconut cake she made for me when she heard we were coming. My Man doesn't care for even the smell of coconut so I go without most of the time(which may be a good thing!

I'm thrilled to see so many Siestas share our love of coconut!
Just think, we can share some coconut cake in Heaven, with tea of course!!

Annabeth looks like a little doll in one of those pictures. Her eyelashes are beautiful! Thank you for the links. I've finished the first week of homework (overly eager) and have already put some Scripture in place of some thoughts. Coconut cake is my favorite! I never get any though because no one else in my family likes it. It was the same growing up. So yes, indeed, PTL for your coconut cake! :)

I too am loving the Bible Study!!
It is so needed right now!!

And I have to share - I am doing the study with the online FB siestas but Wed night I went out to eat with some friends here in town
We were all talking and one of my friends mentioned this book she was reading and how it talks about our "thought closets"

I immediately said "MML??" She said yes then I told her I was doing the BS!
ALL FIVE of the women at the table said they wanted to join me in doing the study!
I was SO EXCITED!!
God is so AMAZING b/c I have tried to get them to do a study b/f but now in God's timing we are getting together!!
Ok sorry this is so long!
Love the pics of Annabeth in the tea room - they made me giggle!
Have a great weekend!

Oh, how FUN! Thanks for sharing this darling experience with a mom of 3 boys! I can only dream of tea parties (but I do love soccer games). I think I have said this before, but boy, does she have her momma's pretty smile. Aren't genetics a blast?

So excited about the study. I always say I cannot tell a lie, but I bet I'm about to prove myself wrong during the course of this study. I'm doing it on my own, but I'm doing the NOG study from last summer with a few girlfriends. We purchased it back in March to avoid the Pit this summer. Thanks for pulling together these studies. You all are such an encouragement in the Lord!

Blessings!

WEll isn't just the cutest ever. I am a tea lady and love tearooms so I am tad jealous....Here in Nebraska tearooms are few and far between...sighing...so I have tea. That cake looked divine. I got my book yesterday and I delved right in and oh is God speaking to me. This is definitely what God intended for me when I was praying for a book. I had no idea what an advneture it would be. have not put up a picture yet cause no one in my family seems to want to take the time and do it for me....I tried taking one myself and you know all you got was half my face...I cracked up at that...ever darn time I tried so I will keep asking family..hehehehe

love you all so much

What a legacy....3 generations of Moore "girls"....look at those eyes...I do believe she has Jackson's eyes....beautiful. BUT she looks like mommy....so far!! ;-)

I can't wait for Melissa to share this experience....Amanda, you will have to watch Bibby and Melissa so you don't get thrown out...or have to buy anything!

There used to be a company that made dolls that look like your children. You send them pictures and they create a "look-alike" doll for your little girl. My mom did this for her granddaughter...it was adorable. Mom also had a portrait done of her granddaughter all dressed up having a tea party....it was beautiful! She was about 5....she is 17 now.

Love the pictures! I'm sure you were holding your breath those 2 seconds with the tea cup.

Just the other night I got to play tea with a 5 yr old. I have boys so no tea parties here. I went to pick up my son at their house and she asked if I would like to play tea with her and that she has 3 sets. Oh, yeah I played with her! So much fun! I will be at their house more often.

Tea parties with grandbabies are so much fun. I have aspecial tea set at home that my oldest granddaughter just loves to get out and have a cozy tea party with Nanny at night. Pray that she gets to come and visit anytime so that we can have our special tea parties. Long story short we don't get to see her much, "just because". Enough said
Bibby get a tea set for home so you can enjoy those overnight stay tea parties at your home. The tea cup would be a start on the set.

I'm glad you had a good time. Please pray for me and all of the other friends, family, and students, or just anyone who knew Sarah Parks here in Moscow, Idaho. Her body was found in a house fire on Wednesday morning. She was a teacher at Moscow Charter School, where my children are students. She was teaching my youngest daughter for summer school and we were enjoying her so much. She was the sweetest woman. Loved the kids, loved teaching, just seemed to absolutely love life. She was also a sister in Christ, just starting her family. She was pregnant with their first child. I'm just beside myself with grief and it only grew worse when it was ruled a homicide. They said she was dead before the fire.

LOVE IT!!!! When I think of going to tea, I'm always reminded of Dannah Gresh's example/word picture to girls/young women (all of us!), about what we are to God and how we choose to allow others to treat us:

a styrofoam cup - gets used and thrown away

a cermaic cup - ordinary, every day use, no special care

a precious china teacup - extraordinarily special, unique, to be treated with utmost respect and care

I did this with my daughter when she was 11. Took her to the Grand Floridian in Orlando, Florida for high tea and made sure she knows that she is a precious china teacup.

Love you, girls!!

The pix are adorable. Thank you for sharing.

I'm amazed at how timely this study has come to me. I found myself a few days prior to beginning this study being REAL down on myself because of others attitudes toward me. Almost lapsing into a depression. Then I opened the book and began reading the Truth and was thankful that my God loves me SO much that He would send this to my door.

While I wish that I was studying in a group *not for lack of trying to get some sisters together* I'm grateful that I have this opportunity to clean out my thought closet and replace it w/loving Words from my Savior!!

Blessings,

Margo
