You Wild Praying Things
Anybody who doubts the power of Siesta prayers hasn't been hanging around this place long enough. Of course, all of us know it's not the power of prayers. It's the power of God sought in prayer. I praise Him to the highest heavens for His kindness. I cannot thank you enough for praying me to Atlanta and back, for the entire Passion conference and for over 20,000 young lives who represent the Church of tomorrow. I had no idea when I stepped on that platform Sunday morning whether or not I had the unction to still be up on my feet an hour later. Regathering the strength to walk to the end of the street and having the stamina to deliver a message in a large setting are two wildly different things. In all these years I'd never been in that situation. If Melissa said once, she said a hundred times to people while we were there, "I'm just saying that we need to be careful with her. We've barely gotten her out of the house. And now here we are." (I kept whispering behind her back, "I'm really okay.") You might say she sort of took on the role of bouncer. She was scared to death I was going to get about half way through the message under those hot spotlights and drop straight to the floor. Not one time, Siestas, NOT ONCE, did I even feel light headed. It wasn't the best crafted message a soul has ever heard, but, Girlfriend, it got delivered. And God alone got it done. Then turned around two hours later and did it again. My hat is off to Him. My knees are bent. He alone.
But here's the thing. I want those answers for you, too. He loves you so much and is so intently watching over you and ordaining details to let you know He's there. Oh, that He would give us eyes to see! My deep hope is that many of you who shared such seasons of turmoil through your comments to the Exodus 33 post have also seen evidence of His heightened activity and answered prayer. You are never forgotten. Never overlooked.
"So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith." (Galatians 6:9,10)
Continue praying for the conclusion of Passion 2010. (I had to come straight back home.) It will wrap up tomorrow and thousands of young people will spread back out over this globe with the challenge to live to the great glory of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I cannot think of a more important time in all of life to have your heart completely stolen by God. What more strategic age could there be? Please also pray them all safely home. Many of them will get back on the road with bleary eyes.
If you can spare one more prayer, please remember our resident blog master and my darling firstborn. Amanda and her man, Curtis, will get back on a plane to Missouri tomorrow, spend the night with his parents (who have so graciously afforded them this time alone) then start the long trek home with Jackson and Annabeth in the car. Honestly, if I don't get my hands on those babies pretty soon, I'm going to get violent. Really, I just want them to make it home safely, no matter how long it takes. Thank you for remembering them.
OK, Keith's making me get off line. The thing of it is, the only reason I got on here is because he was watching a deer hunting show that was on skin diseases they can get (the deer, not the hunters) and I couldn't stand it another minute. I whined for us to "watch something together" and I warned ("I'm not kidding. I'm not watching this another second.") and then I withdrew to the world wide web. He is now repentant for having rejected me but only because the show is over. I am being summoned to the den. And submissive woman that I am, I will bid you adieu.
Anyway, WHEN DOES 24 START?? IS THERE NOTHING DECENT TO WATCH?????????? I love a good show and I don't mind telling you I'm in an entertainment drought. I am so sick of bad TV that I could throw up. If you know something worth watching, speak up!

HGTV I love it but a word of warning, it gets you in trouble
Well Amanda will be welcomed back to Sprigfield by the extreme cold! Better not linger.....well below zero temps in the forecast.....
We're freezing in Norhtern Arkansas...just across the border..but with the snow comes Snow Cream and it is soooo good!
Beth,
We love you so! Praying for Passion 2010!
Watch Biggest Loser (new season starts tomorrow night..I think). Love it! Although I'm scared of Bob and Jillian. :)
Love you,
Susan in OKC
Thank God for the wonderful praise report!
I cannot pass on any tv wisdom....I only watch a few things. Fox news is #1.
Then it's all downhill from there. I will admit to watching 30 Rock & The Office (it's sad, I know)....but other than that I stick to stuff that numbs my brain!
Glad Atlanta was a huge success! And that you were able to do your thing! God is good!
Praise you Jesus!!! What a God we have!!!
Hugs and love

I love you Beth, this is the first time I have sent a "comment". Believe me, I have wanted to several times. But my life is very "colorful" and if I got started, I would just have to fly out and talk in person. Have a wonderful night with your beau.
OMW! I was just wondering when 24 will start again myself!! I know it's this month but I can't find it yet on the guide channel!
I have friends from church who went to Passion 2010. The College pastor posted this on facebook... "Beth Moore is pretty good...for a girl." :O) They LOVED you!!
So glad to hear how the Lord worked through you and sustained you.

Well - it's not The Bachelor.....does that show have a plot? Watch the National Championship game on Thursday night. Sorry, but we're HUGE Bama fans.
On other nights, I recommend a good book. Have you read THE HELP? Oh, goodness...
You take care of yourself!!
Beth Moore our God was amazing through you! I watched your message online and was blown away by how strong you delivered it! Thankful that you are recovering well! Btw...24 starts Jan 17 with two hr special! CanNOT wait! :) Love you.
Praise be to the Lord God Almighty who is always faithful!!!
Beth I just have to say... wow. I am following Passion 2010 on their playback sessions even though I couldn't be there this year. Of course.. I was in full glee to see you on that stage. :) I just need to say to you tonight that the Word of God spoken through you at Passion was for me. I cried my way through so many parts of what you had to say.. He spoke healing to me, Beth. I've also had an older woman in ministry that I respected deeply discredit my "zeal" and basically tell me that I should tone down. I've also come from so much brokenness in my own family and it is still hard for me not to despise it. I find myself never fitting in it seems anywhere and finally feel like I have an answer as to why.. God wants to bring OUT the worst in me and get it out for good. He has more adjusting to do in me. I can get so caught up in how cool other's callings are I find myself trying to run in their lanes. Thanks for that word. I need to run my OWN race.
I'm 25 years old and for the past two or three years I have deeply wrestled with why God has me here. What is my purpose?? I feel like God spoke a PROFOUND word to me through you.. stop trying to figure out my "position".. what my position will be in life. set that aside. and instead resolve to just follow Him wherever He leads. instead to ask the question "how much will I give way to Him?" I don't know what is ahead, Siesta Mama.. but I'm going with God. Tonight, I am resolved to go on a journey and to never turn back. No matter the cost. He is not just my Savior. But tonight, He is LORD and Savior of my life and I am, by His indescribable grace, running after Him.
I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also has laid hold of me..ONE THING I do.. forgetting what is behind, and straining forward for what is ahead, I press toward the goal for the Prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14
I hope you know how greatly He still uses you, dear Beth. It was a POWERFUL word from God through you. Praising Him for that miracle.
with so much love and respect..

Can I say your message totally moved me? I wasn't there, but totally watched it on Passion streaming. It meant a LOT to this someone who feels like God is calling her, maybe into something ministry...just not sure to what yet or how to go about it. But now I know that He is preparing and repairing my life for His Glory! So thankful that our Holy God gave you the strength to speak, because I know I really needed it!
~Sarah
P.S. Following Passion on Twitter and heard that God moved so much tonight during John Piper's message that all 21,000 people left the conference in complete silence! How Great Is Our GOD!
TV is getting so bad.....maybe something new will come on this season worth the watch. Personally I love a good mystery, whodunnit..
but I can't stand to watch the news, my wonderful husband thinks I'm nuts. I can figure a good mystery, real life is tough.
Tonight, and every Monday I watch the Antiques Roadshow, I love it when someone has a thing they have gotten as a gift or paid next to nothing for and it turns out to be a fortune! Brings me to happy tears! Not only am I nuts, I am sappy.
We (DH and I)spent New Years Eve watching a series of The Thin Man movies.
I am glad my husband doesn't hunt,I mean deer skin diseases...ick... but give him the History Channel, Lord, how many time can you have the Rise and Fall????
Bless You All.
I got the 'Christy' DVD set for Christmas, and I have been enjoying an episode (or 2) of that every night! It is soooo good! It makes me mad that they canceled it after only 2 seasons!
Hi Beth!
I am not sure of what is good to watch on TV but I would recommend online shoe shopping anyday. Free shipping and handling for Ninewest and Bandolino. Also 50% off sales. As a financial advisor I refuse to pay regular, full price for anything if possible.
Love you and praying for you,
Jamie

24 Starts Jan 17th..We can not wait either!!!!
So many blessing to you..
God is so good!! We are thankful that the Lord gave you strength for the message. It really requires alot of energy to speak for 2hrs. May the Lord bless you for trusting Him to take care of you.
Praying for you from SC!! Please take it easy for the next couple of days. We all know that its tough for you to rest :)
Happy Heart
Biggest Loser, Find My Family, and Extreme Home Makeover Edition...that's about it!
I heard "24" starts in January. Hmmm...still waiting! :) Oh, and HGTV is one of my favorites!! :)
Dear Beth,
I have just finished your Wising Up series. Have purchased several others. I believe God is using your voice to reach many of us. I'm hoping to share that with others! Pray for how God's ministry can grow in Missoula, Montana through living proof., i.e beth moore.
You are such a sweet woman! I will look foward to meeting you someday, either here or in Eternity!
Blessings on you and your family,
Diane in Montana
Sending lots of prayers your way...for Passion 2010 AND sweet Amanda's family safe return!...and as far as good T.V.- I usually just curl up with my wonderful Beth Moore Bible study! :)
Many Blessings!
Jill
Pick up the DVDs of Season 1 & 2 of USA's Burn Notice---it's a great show.
I am so happy for you! Thank you for your prayers, your heart is good! I am learning so much, God's teaching is endless....He's Amazing!
No tv...instead I go to the Word.
Love,
Michele
I am with you on this bad tv! Nothing on worth watching and I can only watch Dirty Jobs so many times. Hopefully things will turn around within a couple of weeks, and some new things will be on...
Thanks for the praise report! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Can't wait for "24" either. And to coin your daughter: there is nothing out there except that which makes us "dumber now."
Glad you're feeling better

Beth, I've been enjoying The Alaska Experiment that my husband has been taping. I'm not sure what channel it's on. But it involves about five groups that are trying to survive there. Keith would like it, too. Hunting. Other than that, I'm an Animal Planet kind of girl ... It's Me or the Dog or From Underdog to Wonderdog. I like Survivor, but it is over till February. Honestly, I don't get much TV time. Either my husband is watching Fox News, or my girls are watching Cinderella type movies! I do love it.
I love you dearly.

NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles, plus the Office. I'm almost as addicted to those shows as I am to God :)
Praise the Lord that He carried you through the time you were speaking and for Melissa looking out for you! What a blessing for those young people to be getting serious with the Lord at their young age.
I'm with you on being sick of nothing to watch on TV, I do watch some HGTV but at times get tired of that as well. I love a good movie but there are so few anymore. Reality TV is not for me!!
Looking forward to the Celebration in Houston!
Okay Mama Beth - I would have to suggest that you watch Iron Chef America and Chopped on the Food Network. I don't care for many sitcoms, but the Food Network is amazing and those two are my favorite. I talk about Chopped with my PW all the time! I can't cook a lick, but I LOVE watching other people who are so talented at it!
By the way, tonight at Bible study we watched Disc 7 for Believing God. Oh Beth! We were all bawling our eyes out! Even my PW was barely able to speak tonight (which is a first for her...trust me! haha) I am so flabbergasted by what you said on the video tonight. Praise you Lord Jesus for moving in our study and amongst these ladies!
Thanks Beth...we love you!
Beth,
I was so encouraged by your words at Passion 2010, i got to watch it online right here in Katy while I have been sick at home today. I praise God He was your strength and ability on Sunday. I know He is already using His words spoken through you in big ways. Keep on getting well!!! I love that He hears us when we call to Him. I'm always in need of His love, thankful He never turns His children away. Praying for Passion and your daughter and her family. Hope u find a good show to watch, personally i have resorted to reading because i can't stand the shows lately. Plus its great weather in Houston to read :).

We love Biggest Loser!!!!
My parents LOVE 24.
Well, I DVR and watch a show on Discovery Health called "Deliver Me." It's a practice of 3 women Dr.'s, and each show follows 3 or 4 women in the last few weeks of their pregnancies, then they have the babies. There are parts where I can't watch, but I enjoy MOST of that show. New babies!! Always a miracle. Right before a new baby is born, they sort of flash a bright light and play a certain musical note, so even if it's one of the times when I can't watch what's happening, I know it's the moment of a new baby being born.
I also like "The Office," and when in season, "Top Chef," "Project Runway," Oh, and of course, "Lie To Me" for the psychological dynamics; it's pretty fascinating.
Beth, I hate to say it but Keith may be watching one of the the only clean but gross shows around. I watch a little HGTV for entertainment. I would ask you to pray about the Bible study starting tomorrow in a housing project, the Village. I am doing The Inheritance there with help from LP. Please pray for the women there. They live in a dark place. Thanks, so glad your talk at Passion went well. I know they were blessed with The Word! B
OMG we have the same exact conversations almost every night, except my husband's "mistress" isn't deers it's basketball.
Oh, and he wants to tell you January 17th is when 24 starts back up...I'm not a fan, so I'm not even allowed to be in the room with him when he's watching it because I "make too much noise", geez.
Praise you Lord, Mama Beth had the strength to deliver Your heart once again! Please keep the Jones' safe on the road and all those college kids leaving the conference. I went to one a few years back and they are so spiritually energizing!

WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!!!!!! I will keep on praying for Amanda and her families safe return home as well as the rest of the young people that attended Passion 2010.
I am glad that you are doing better Beth and will continue praying for you and your ministry. That God will continue blessing you and all sho assist you as well.
And now changing the subject to 24 as I am a watcher myself it starts on January 17th. But in the mean time I watch HGTV and the Food Network (love to cook).
God bless all you all.
We like NUMB3RS - it's crime drama. A math genius helps his FBI agent brother solve cases using math.
so glad you were able to get to Passion & back in one piece.
I just LOVE how you ended your blog post! Due to circumstances beyond our control we have no cable or satellite to go with our nice 42inch flatscreen HD TV! It hasn't always been this way and my husband came home for lunch one day to find a crazed wife looking frantically for the remote! My daughter had been sick for three days (and continued to be for the rest of the week), and I had not been out of the house & was desparate to get Dish Network back online and I needed the remote to do it! (If there is a way to get your network up again w/out the remote it was hidden from me that day). All that to say-- I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S ON! I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF ANYONE'S OUT THERE ANYMORE! I DON'T KNOW I DON'T KNOW I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!(In very dramatic tone with panting following).
Try a few seasons of "Gilmore Girls" on dvd. That show always makes me laugh!
Are we going to do the siesta scripture memory this year? I realized at Christmas that the scripture memory was one New Year's resolution that I actually kept. The scriptures have ministered to me in incredible ways this year.
Still praying for your complete healing!
Love you,

Oh my sweet Beth- many praises to our Great God for his blessing of strength over you! I do hope you will take a few days to rest and regroup. We love you so much and are in awe of all that God uses you for! Praying for safe travel for the Jones' as well...I am sure you are going crazy for those little ones- some days I go crazy just to see their sweet little faces!
Loving you,
Andrea
(Freezing in MN!)
I am so grateful all is well and that you got your groove back! And not a bit surprised. I attended Deeper Still in OKC and just felt there was something a little different about you that weekend. Of course I couldn't put my finger on it, but I just felt something was bothering you. Hmmm... "Discernment?!" ;)
God is good all the time. Let Him be glorified!
Love you so,
JoAnne
You are priceless! Thanks for the update, because I was praying for you and knew that JESUS ALONE spoke at Passion ... through you! Only He could give you the strength you needed to empower those young adults and challenge them to impact, to change the world! What a mighty God we serve! It is an honor to belong to Him!
Sweet Beth, It is good to hear you are doing so well!
I believe that 24 starts on the 25th of Jan. I am a huge Fox News fan and spend much of my evening there with Bill, Sean and Greta and who can forget Shep!
Our Bible Study group starts back up on Jan. 7th and we are doing "A heart Like His" and we are all looking forward to being with you again!
Blessings,
Nancy
Praise God!!! So glad you are well Beth!!
Watch the Biggest Loser!! It starts on Tuesday! It is so inspiring!!
Love to you this day!! You and your crew!!!
I have old Columbo dvds hanging around for nights when I can't find anything to watch...I love that guy!
And I'm still missing Alias...such a great show, especially those first couple of seasons.
Praise God for what is taking place at the Passion conference!
Blessings,
Michelle in VT
Praise God, He is so awesome! And so thrilled for you that your recovery is going so well. Thanks for sharing.
24 starts the 17th.
And what version did you use for Ps. 65:11? That was such a great post.
Love in Jesus,

NETFLIX!
It got me through my recovery time.
(Glad you are on the mend; prayers going up for the ride home from Missouri. Just made that trip from Missouri to Austin last week.)
I totally love The Mentalist. The guy who plays the mentalist (Patrick Jane on the show) is so quirky and funny. He just cracks me up. I found it in Season 2 (or are we in 3 - I just don't know). I had to go back to Netflix and get the first season and watch all of them! I loved being able to watch 2-3 shows an evening (with NO COMMERCIALS TO FAST FORWARD THROUGH!).
Unfortunately, it's on hiatus, too. Like everything else. If you have a membership to Netflix - order a series you like now that you might have picked up mid-stream. It's a great way to catch up. :)
I have nothing good for you to watch. Maybe you and keith can take up knitting or some such or maybe WII. Glad you are better. Being filled with the Holy Spirit does that!!
Are we gonna do the memory team?
Hope your kids have a safe trip with the grands. You always know how to spread good news to a hurting soul! Love you
My husband watches 24 with me but cannot for the world see why I like it so much! It's so encouraging to know I'm not alone, and I am definitely looking forward to the premiere on the 17th :) Thanks for your update on passion--I so wish I could have known about it when I was in high school and college! I'll definitely be praying.
love,
Audrey
So glad you got through it- how wonderful!
I'd really appreciate prayers for our family- our first packers come tomorrow to take things into long term storage. I'm doing laundry like mad because they'll take the washer and dryer. They'll pack for our overseas move on THurs/Fri. And my 7 yr old who never gets sick has been running a high fever today. Blessings on you alL!
I second the "nothing good on tv" motion.
I actually watched ten minutes (ok, 20 minutes) of "conveyor belt of love" then I hightailed it to my room to blog/read a book. At least blogging stimulates my mind.
Praises to our God for getting you to and from Atlanta with no setbacks! (I guess we need to add Melissa to the list also :-) )
As far as T.V. goes...try reruns of "Doc" with Billy Ray Cyrus and "Sue Thomas, FBI" Both shows are great..wish they were still on. Sue Thomas is based on a true story of a deaf woman who joined the FBI. Both shows have Christian values. After that, it is Fox News. Hope this helps some. Take care, dear one....love to all.
We are also waiting for the return of Jack Bauer on 24!! In the meantime we are watching The Mentalist.
Praise God for supplying you with stamina and strength. He is so faithful!
Praying for complete recovery for you Beth.
Biggest loser on tomorrow night.
Vickie
Praise the Lord!!! Our God is Good and Faithful!!!
Still praying. :)
Okay, I hate t.v..... nothing much decent but I did find the gospel channel and they have older shows, clean shows that I like to watch...
Also, I watch TVland....to watch the Cosbys. :))
OH, when it's on..Dancing With the Stars. One of my favs.
Love you,
Patty
I don't know if you get this show in your area, but one of our PBS stations has been airing the British series, "Doc Martin." I love it. It is so quirky and thoroughly enjoyable. So if it hits your air waves, give it a try.
Praise God for all He is doing!
This just makes me smile. So glad you were able to feel good in Atlanta. Can't help you with the TV thing- it's 24 hour football here right now. Sigh.....
The Office. The funniest show on television.... though unless you've seen it from season 1, episode 1, you might think its off beat. I was forced to watch season 1 when my husband got it for his birthday... and I've been hooked since.
"Oh Praise Him" (singing David Crowder version) for the victory in Jesus at the conference! He is so sufficient!
Castle! Starts again next Monday on ABC.
Hey, Mama, so glad to know God pulled you through. I knew He would. Your night sounds like mine, but yours is more hilarious. I'm submissive too, keep on being a good wife. :) Those men can't live without us sitting by them at the tv. I'm pretty sick of 24 with all the killing Jack has to do. You get attached to someone and then they die! What good is that?! You might want to rent old seasons of Lost.(Netflix) I liked it and the entertainment factor is good. Love and Hugs, Sweet mama!
RE: The Exodus post.
I had completely forgotten about writing in on that topic.
I had posted about slow business, and lots of debt and about one of our Golden Retrievers being put to sleep Dec. 14 for cancer.
Well, Saturday God led us to a new Golden puppy, and we worked out some financial arrangements that helped us afford the little guy.
Also, when I got home from 'meeting' the puppy, I found I had been hired for a part time work-from-home job. Allowing me to care for an elderly Mom who needs me to be flexible enough to get her to her doctor's appointments, and to return to BSF this year.
The new puppy's name:
ASHER!
May I also suggest 'Gilmore Girls' on DVD. I love that show, but it's in syndication now. Also, the Hallmark Channel has some really good movies and old favorites to watch. I am elated to hear how well you are doing, however, with the awesome God we serve, I am not at all surprised. When I mentioned to my husband about your going to Passion 2010 and the recent surgery he said, "oh no, is she going to be okay.... because we really need her." I told him "Yes, she will be fine. And you're right, we REALLY do need her!" Praying for you and your family. We love all of you!!

We are also fans of 24. We don't watch much standard TV with four kids in the house. I try to have them watch something they learn from. We do a ton of history, TLC, discovery and things like this. I am a fan of CSI and criminal minds, but they can be a bit much at times.
on a side note...has anyone noticed how bad the commercials have gotten?
Totally off topic but Luke and I drove to Gatlinburg for Xtreme Youth Conference last week. On the way, I was telling him about your health issues as if we are bff and when I got to the part about Grace and Mercy being your nurses - I don't know what came over me - but I had me a spell and SOBBED. FLAT OUT SOBBED. He looked at me like I'd lost my everloving mind. Perhaps I did but my goodness, that was good. Talk about a sermon illustration.
As for TV, the only show I follow is LOST. I've yet to figure out a dern thing that's going on but it's fun trying to figure it out..Seasons 1-5 are at the video store if you need some down time entertainment!
Well, I discovered House, MD a few years ago. Not something I would normally watch, but if you watch it carefully with your spiritual glasses on, there is a lot there. It is by no means a Christian show, nor is it good clean family tv. But, like I said, if you watch carefully, many of the themes explored beneath the medical drama are spiritual. I find it fascinating.
At this moment (10:30 p.m.), it is -1......yes, I said -1 degree F here in Springfield, MO, with extremely cold temps and more snow in the forecast (snow for Wednesday)......will be praying for all of the Jones' and their safe travels back to our town and back to Texas!!
Thanks for your post, Beth.
I suggest NCIS. Funny and mostly lighthearted. You fall in love with the characters.
My husband and I watched all the Cosby Show reruns in a year. They are so fun to watch. Also, we got into the old All in the Family reruns and had wonderful conversations about social change and struggle. Then, when my husband was a stay-at-home Dad, he watched every single Little House on the Prairie episode.
Point: Try ol' school reruns. Fun, fun.

You may want to check out a show I've spent the last hour and a half watching on A&E. It's called "Hoarders". Very interesting. Of course, then I start thinking-oh, maybe I have some of those same tendencies. And then I begin to feel the need to go clean something.....
Oh, great-my word verification is "derti". Yikes! :)
I'm with K and C's mom... I love me some NETFLIX. We got rid of our satellite three years ago (wow, has it been 3 already?) because we were just watching constantly, not really picking and choosing. Now we pick a series and watch it disc by disc with no commercials!
I have to admit, I couldn't wait for Glee on DVD, so I bought the season pass on iTunes. But now I'm stuck waiting till APRIL for the next episode.
I spend a lot of time with books, some just as fanciful as 24, and have a large movie collection (including my nerd signature item--the complete Star Trek original series...).
You'll make it Siesta Mama. And like someone else said, there is the BCS Championship that Bama's gonna win Thursday! (I may live in MO, but my Daddy's from Tuscaloosa)
Love you, darlin!
I need to share this with Siestas who will understand. Sometimes the smallest, most inconspicuous things can later become something of relevance. I received several fragrances for Christmas. My husband was taking me out to lunch today, and I was trying to decide which perfume to wear. Well finally I decided to break out the Dolce and Gabbana 'Light Blue'. The server at our table asked if that's what I was wearing because she loves that, and she used to have some, but not any more. I felt the urgency to go out and buy her that $65.00 bottle of perfume. I did, and returned a short time later to give her the gift. I told her that God has been such a blessing to me and my family, and I wanted to send some of it her way. She hugged me and said that she was having such a bad day today, and this just made her day. Again, God's timing is always right!

I love a good show, too:
Lie to Me, on Fox.
SO good.
I have been hearing from some young men who attended. They were "wowed" by you. They both said they now understand their wives admiration of you!
T.V.? I'm a fundy-dud. I would suggest "Good Eats". My husband and I actually watch it together. It's a fusion of science, cooking, and humor. (Kinda like Bill Nye with a stove....if your girls watched him.) Thanks to this show I've actually tackled homemade jerky--something an advid hunter could 'get behind', as they say! I now attempt to sharpen my own knives and cook some adventurous recipes. He's funny too! Check it out on Food Network sometime.
Glad to know your health continues to improve. Blessings1 OnYa!
Thank you Lord!!! He is our strength indeed....so glad to hear of the good report in Atlanta. loved to hear about the "deer disease" show....here's a story....my son and husband gutted and feathered some ducks in our trash and the trash guy came today, guess what was all over my driveway??? feathers and other gross things...oh joy!!! love those men that hunt things...so glad you are better..love, Pam in San Diego (try old Law & Order reruns)
Ditto to barren TV land right now! These are the times when I've resorted to ripping out floors, literally. Or painted the very walls that drove me stir crazy. Thanks(?) HGTV and DIY. Biggest Loser starts tomorrow....at least there's a "burp" in the desert. Two little boy underfoot will do that to a girl.
Also, quick someone give this woman her granbabies, 24 is still a week and half away. Reduced to watching diseased deers may not be good for her health.
Seriously, so glad God delivered you healthy and safe round trip! Praying for a safe, pleasant trip for Amanda & Curtis. And for those siestas at the Passion conference. May HE light a burning FLAME in each and everyone.
Tammy@If Meadows Speak...
Try Monk, if you can find it. Clean, funny, and did I say clean??
I agree with Burn Notice, too.
The Closer on TNT.
PTL you are better! Praying for you and your fam.

I have to share this story about God answering prayers and how he is in the details. I have a sweet friend who lost her husband suddenly in an accident 3 years ago on Wednesday. Her sister is fighting a terrible battle with breast cancer. She suddenly lost her mother last Wednesday. She is solid in her faith and I have been praying for her and her two sweet daughters for years, quietly on the side. In the past few months our friendship has grown and we have become closer. She is someone I have always admired, she is older than I am, and one of those ladies at church that everyone adores. The day her mother died we were supposed to go to dinner and needless to say that didn't happen. I could not get her off my mind and began praying for her constantly. I read scripture and wrote down several that made me think of her. After attending the funeral I prayed about which scripture to send her that night, not wanting to bother her, but just wanting to encourage her. I also, selfishly prayed that God would let me know somehow if this was ok for me to send to her. I was so worried about being a bother to her and didn't want to be intrusive. I sent her this message that night ~ "Praying these verses especially for you tonight: Eph. 3:14-21". And I received this in return ~ "You have no reason to know this, but Eph 3:20 is my life verse. Thank you sweet sugar, for being obedient to the Holy Spirit as you sent this scripture. It is a soothing balm to my soul." Isn't that UNBELIEVABLE!!! God not only answered my prayer but took it even a step further, her life verse!!! Amazing! It brought me to tears to see that He cared about me and my selfish need to know that what I was doing was not only ok but the Holy Spirit working through me to minister to her. He receives all the glory.
I've been following Passion 2010 on the playback. I was rejoicing and thanking God for the energy and clarity He gave you! What a profound privilege to serve those young people.
God is answering specific prayers for me as well. I am in a severe CFS/Fibromyalgia flare with lots of pain, difficulty concentrating, and intense fatigue. Tomorrow I begin teaching our women's bible study. I know that God will give me the strength to do what He has called me to do. He has made Himself so evident in my life -- I truly cannot do anything without Him!
Enjoy those grandbabies when they get back home!
Thank you Beth for sharing you and your family...thru it I am always drawn to Jesus.
Check out The Closer and The Good Wife
Well I NEED something watch because I have been a year without cable and it's pretty nearly killing me at this point... I get those children into bed and all I want is to just turn my brain OFF! Off I tell you!
But oh no, we decided to save money and turn it off so we could read more books, yada, yada, yada. Who's idea was this? Did I agree to it? WHY??
I'm sorry. You hit a nerve.
I'm calling cable right now. Happy New year.
Beth, I am a huge 24 watcher and also a Lost lover. 24 starts Jan. 17th with a 2 hr. show!! Jack is back!! Also, my girls are at the Passion conference and got to see you yesterday!! I got goose bumps knowing they were hearing you like I have been able to. thank you so much for going!!! I know you had an impact!!
mama beth, so happy to hear that report..i was in ATL to hear you speak for passion 07-and Jesus met me there like i hadn't experienced before in my then 22 years of life. i'm sure it will be that much more exiting and joyful to hear the praise reports and stories that come your way from those 20,000 knowing what an extra physical task the Lord brought you through.
as far as tv? i'm sunk. i live in a house full of 6 lively 20-somethings, and we cancelled our cable because not one of us cared to watch a thing on it, and we certainly didn't have any extra money laying around to be paying for JUNK to be sitting on our screen!
i'm the NERD that still watches all my favorite movies on VHS and LOVES every minute of it ;)
and i'm always a sucker for golden girls re-runs ;)
Biggest Loser IS so inspiring... I love seeing people's determination and perseverance pay off!
American Idol is about to start back... I'm sorry... I do love it.
and my new favorite show is Cake Boss. My man and my kids even love it. 2nd or 3rd generation family owned bakery in NJ (with mama and brothers and sisters and cousins and inlaws all working there together) and they make the BEST looking cakes you could imagine.
***WARNING*** get rid off all boxed cake mixes in your pantry before you watch. You will compulsively feel the need to eat any kind of cake after you watch it.
(well, maybe just watch it for that last 6 pounds worth) :)
Doggone it, these are all reality shows I guess. But you know, all the dramas and sitcoms just have so much smut in them. I aint saying I don't watch Greys Anatomy still, or plan to persevere through the last season of Lost. I'm just sayin I don't recommend them! Can't wait to see what good dramas are suggested in the comments....
so glad you're back home and better by the day.
LOVE YOU!
lavonda
So sad to have to miss Houston in a couple weeks... but you know what? Those verses have been the biggest blessing to me in 2009. I'm going to keep filling up that little spiral on my own!
Praise God for His sustaining strength!! :) I am new to the blog and was wondering if all the Siestas were going at it for another round. The Lord is really moving on my heart in the area of scripture memory and I was hoping to join in with the team for a little moral support. :) Thanks so much for sharing your love and spunk for the Lord and His People! YEAH! PRAISE HIM! :)
Netflix, Netflix, Netflix!
Education, entertainment, no commercials and no hanging out where you can see the ugly movie covers of yucky horrible movies. Documentaries, tv series, old movies, new movies, Netflix!
(I should be a spokesman.)
Golden Girls...oh maybe not...but it is funny most of the times. I like Hallmark shows. They seem to be the cleanest shows.
It is so good to hear that you are on your way to recovery and that God was holding you up this weekend. Beth, you let those girls of yours keep looking out after you- that's why they're here.right? As for good TV, we love watching NCIS,NCIS LA, Lie to Me, Biggest Loser, Criminal Minds, Perry Mason Re-Runs, For laughs, Ebverybody Loves Raymond beacuse he is the image of the male species. Well, gotta go but sure glad we are getting back to some kind of normal arond her, God love ya Carla.
We watch the Food Network all the time. My husband is the cook in our house. I enjoy watching other people cook.... and I do like to eat..... does that count?
"24" is our favorite TV show and has a 2 hour premier on January 17.... which also happens to be our 30th wedding anniversary. My DH is showing much more enthusiasm about "24" than about our anniversary. Oh well..... Very thankful for the DVR! lol
Love you, Beth, and so glad you are feeling better.
Linda
I'll go ahead and answer, for what it's worth, but everyone hates to let ME have the remote. I like history and documentaries, and they bore the rest of the family to tears. I spent most of this evening watching the history of Tsarist Russia.
We just got dish after not having TV for several months and, really, I don't think I've missed much. How can there be so many channels of nothing?
Anne
Beth,
Thank you so very much for giving of yourself. I have two college aged daughters at Passion 2010 and I am a volunteer there. We were so moved by what the Lord laid on your heart to share with us. It was so needed. Thank you again,
Nancy
I'm waiting for the new seasons of Amazing Race, American Idol, and Survivor. It's slim pickins right now unless you watch some of the oldies...
May God continue to bless and strengthen you, Beth!
I just watched parts of Passion and I'm so excited for the generations coming up in the Lord. Loved your message...thank you for being a willing servant and thank God He is so faithful.
And for a tv show recommendation... I love "Lie To Me" on Fox. It's a great show about reading nonverbal language. Very interesting. Have no idea if it's accurate or not and don't take it so seriously but it's an intriguing show and pretty clean for the most part.
My family's addicted to Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Will Sully and Dr. Quinn ever get married? Oh, the suspense! Never watched the show in the 90's, but now that we're overseas we're seeing it all!
Good. You're better. You're showing signs of boredom after a flight to Atlanta, delivering a message, and flying back. Three words: Hulu, White Collar. Very entertaining.
PRAISE GOD that you speak loudly!!!! I can hardly hear session 2 of Passion 2010 without some ear buds!
So far this year, I have hit a buck with my car, fallen through the attic, and my car got broken into today with someone stealing my purse, my medicines, and my camera. Wish they would have stolen some of my praise cds or scripture cards but all of this to say is that I love His word and I praise God that He is our Rock and He is so faithful!!
Beth,
I am still at Passion 2010 and God is flowing in waves of wonder still! No one would have known you were unstable in any way because you brought the house down missy! Both messages you delivered were straight from the Lord and well retained! Thank you for your willingness to come to Atlanta, to allow the Lord to pierce over 20,000 people with your message and personally pierce my heart! As a college student I have no greater woman of God to look up to and hear God through than you. Thank you for your humility, I have seen every time I have heard you speak! I love you and love the words God flows from your mouth! And whether on heaven or on earth, I can't wait to have coffee time with you:)
Hollye
Here you go Bethie...info on 24...http://www.fox.com/24/
Just finished watching you on Passion. Knowing it was meant for kids but spoke big words to me. Lessons we all need.
Can I just say the ending analogy of "running in my own lane" really struck a chord. I've heard about Gabriel before, but not sure you ever shared that piece so clearly, or maybe this is just the first time God let me hear it just so. For this 40 something in her "place in his will" running my own race and waiting to throw my arms around my Jesus is all that needs to matter anymore.
Didn't Grandma say something once about not worrying what others have, or do or accomplish, but just knowing that we are doing what we are set on this planet to do is all that matters...and that we do in fact need to make a difference.
Thanks for those words of wisdom. I only pray all those young ones listened up to Mama Beth well! You go Siesta!
Hi Beth,
I am so glad that things went so well. Isn't that just like our Lord? I am so blessed to be part of this blog and I want to share with you something that has happened.
What I am watching before my eyes is the change in my daughter. Suddenly, her lingo is different. She is saying things like "Praise God." I had the honor of praying with her and a few other ladies tonight at a Bible sStudy! I am so excited I can barely stand it. NOt that I doubted that the Lord would grab hold of her. That I knew. Let's just say, it's been a long haul. I know He has been working in her for a long time. It has been just crazy at times. God is faithful. This was not an overnight sensation. This was a battle on my knees(in my heart). She has fought the Lord tooth and nail. I have waited sometimes not so patiently. I am not even sure that I will be able to sleep I am so jazzed! What wonderful God that we have.
As far as TV goes, I so agree with you. There is nothing on-at all. I have decided to just watch a few of my favorite movies.
You, my dear, are always in my prayers. So is Melissa and Colin and Amanda and Curtis and of course, Jackson and Annabeth. I love you guys so much.
Kels, Redding, CA
Beth,
Just watched your talk on the Passion website. I was so disappointed that I didn't get to go but unbelievably glad you did!
Your talk was SO timely and so beneficial to me at this point in my life. Thanks for sucking it up and serving Jesus, even when your body probably could have used otherwise.
He has equipped YOU with everything good for doing His will!
Cait
Oh I love the story of Gabriel and how you said to "QUIT RUNNING IN SOMEONE ELSES LANE" AMEN!!!!!!!
WOW! PRAISE THE LORD!
I will have to make this short since it is the wee hours of the morning.
You can go online to http://www.hulu.com/channels/Comedy/Sitcoms#kind=shows&page=1&sort=popularity and watch some of those old favorites we watched growing up, like Mary Tyler Moore (one of my favorites).
Love,
Cindy
I was just ready to head to bed, but I decided to check out your blog first. Then I decided to check out the Passion conference online, and I was so delighted to "stumble" across your portion right away! Of course, I HAD to watch it! Are you sure you just had surgery?!? You were dynamite! Give God all the praise for working through you in your weakness! Your message was just what this mom needed to hear tonight because of where we're at with our family. To God be the glory!
Beth, I am so excited to hear you were about to make the conference. I have been praying for complete healing for you. And a month or so ago God put you on my heart to pray for you I wasn't told what to pray so I just ask for blessings. Now I know those blessings are for your healing. You continue on and fight the good fight girl you have so much to do and God wants you healthy to do His work. Give yourself the rest you need and know He is your ever present help in time of trouble. You are my hero will never forget when you gave me a word "harvest" at the Okla. city conference a few years ago. I have been going after me some harvest to lay at my sweet Lord's feet. I hope you know how much your Father loves you I believe your new words for life are Grace and Mercy wow was that a gift. I can't wait to tell my classes that awesome story. Beth can't wait for your new Bible Study I've done all your others and most twice. Been to 4 conferences also ready to go to another one if there is one close. Think about coming to Lubbock I will help with anything I can to get you here. I am already praying you up for this. Wish I could sit down and just talk with you I have so many funny stories to tell you about our Bible studies my son says you know Mom if you had known her in school ya'll would have hung out you are just alike. Well I have to go and do something with my hair I look like Wierd Al. Love Nita Daniel
Howdy. I wonder if I can watch the Passion talks online - ? Sounds wonderful from those who've posted. And I had to laugh at Shellie from Ft. Worth whose husband is taping some sort of "Alaska Experiment" of five groups to see "how they survive there."
There, my dears, would be here for Yours Truly. It made me wonder if I'm being secretly taped and just don't know it.
The way I'm surviving here this month is lots of 1) coffee; 2) chocolate; and 3) cold medicine (the holidays did me in)
Also - may I say that tomorrow's my birthday and I just learned yesterday that January 5th is the Eve of the Theophany (or the Epiphany).
I was calling it my epiphany of The Epiphany (see: too much cold med). Theophany meaning "the appearance of God" (don't worry - I'm not trying to give Melissa a run for her money on the Theology Girl of Siestaville front. I just wikipedia-ed it).
I'm going to hope and pray to have me a year of watching God show up big time in my head, heart and home.
Sorry so chatty. Isn't EmergenC supposed to make you tired?
(Oh. And Beth, if stations still ran old Hawaii-Five O's, that's what I'd be watching. Love me some Jack Lord from that show).
Get some rest Beth, and sorry Keith's not here to watch Death By The Ton with my husband (yet another video brought to us courtesy of some American who went and hunted Cape Buffalo in sub-sahara Africa) (God - how many brownie points do I earn for watching all these dang-blasted buffalo shows???)
Brownies? Did I say brownies? I still think there may be some left on the kitchen counter -
Ciao,
Warm in Alaska.
Mama Beth
I caught your talk on the Passion replay section. I just wanted to say that the Lord spoke personally and powerfully to me last night through it. God equipping us through preparing us, adjusting us, repairing us and filling us - WOW that was exactly what I needed to hear right now in my life. Although I've heard you say it before, the fact that my past was allowed by God so that he could use it (even/ especially the rubbish bits) in my future blows me away. Thank you so much for your obedience to God in speaking there when you are stil poorly (I honestly had forgotten when watching you as you'd come over as so well) - I am sure mine was not the only heart GREATLY challenged and encouraged by your words. God bless.
So thankful that you are doing well Beth! My kids all LOVEd going to Passion during their college days!!
We LOVE 24! Can't wait til the season comes back to us! We're also big American Idol fans - but that's seasonal too. We watch tons of HGTV (when I can get my hubby away from the hunting shows!!) We sort of got hooked on Dancing with the Stars this year but once again.....it's seasonal!
Love you Beth and totally understand the battle with all the hunting shows that our husbands watches! I usually retreat to the computer too!
Blessings!
Mammy
Beth,
I am itchin' for some good TV too. But we got rid of our TV last year.
NETFLIX, to the rescue!!!
I love Luci reruns are about all I've got for you...and I can so relate to most of her life! LOL!
I can't wait for Jack to get back to 24 either.
I heard Wednesdays with Beth on LifeToday is supposed to be good :)
Haha seriously, Extreme Makover home edition is awesome!
But I don't even own a TV, I watch video on demand on the Internet most of the time. If you think American TV is bad you should see the German reality and talk shows. Despicable!
God and God alone. When you know that's how you made it through, you can look back and be blessed.
Hi, are we not doing the scripture memory as a group this year? That really kept me on track and accountable! Am I the only one who asked?
Barbara Fenn
Medina Oh
My calendar is already marked for the start of 24...Jan. 17!!! I had no idea you were a fellow 24 fan! It's really the only "have to watch" show at our house.
So thankful to hear your trip went well. It really is a privilege to pray for you, your family, and your ministry.
Blessings to all!
Kelli
Oh Beth I do love your wild thoughts on life! Your on the list for prayers (surely TV could sort of be there?) and as you shared it looks like each day presents a new healing for your body and spirit.
As for programs ---24 returns this month! Jan 17th -Honestly good TV is hard to find!
Have a blessed day Beth which sounds so cliche---but truly sent from the heart~
Louise
Sacramento,CA
You go Marthahelen, we will all be praying for you!!!
Beth, SO glad you made it!!! Was praying for you the WHOLE way through, but never had doubts at what OUR GOD could do. Will be praying for Amanda and Curtis today and on their way home.
Love, Becca
Beth -
Praise the Lord! He is sufficient!
We are counting down the days until Jack is back!! Lie to Me is a pretty good show too. Anything on HGTV or Food Network keeps me entertained for hours!
Since August we have been watching our beloved Crimson Tide play their way to the National Championship game - againt Texas! (We'll be on opposing sides just this once, OK?)Happily, though,a new season of American Idol begins on Jan. 12th, and 24 begins with a replay of last year's finale on Jan. 17th. Finally something decent to watch! So thankful that God held you up for the Passion conference! Nothing is too difficult for Him!
Muscle Shoals, Alabama
I am soooo glad you made it through Passion!! To God be the glory!!!!
Oh, and......AMERICAN IDOL!!!
God is SO great! I am so glad you did just fine (physically) so that God could touch those young lives through you-there is nothing like hearing His Word through Beth Moore! :)
Beth, I dearly love "Touched By An Angel" reruns on the Hallmark channel.
I am glad you and yours are taking such good care of you- keep up the good work, all of you! I am praying for your loved ones a safe and easy trip home.
Love,
Fran
Please just consider having Keith go to your local movie rental store and pick up the first few seasons of "LOST". My daughter and I really enjoy watching this show together. I believe watching it when you have multiple episodes in a row is much easier to follow and understand the plot. Be warned: it's addictive!
Praise God!! Glad Passion went well! God is SUCH AN AWESOME DUDE!!! (I hope He doesn't think it's irreverent for me to say such a thing. Surely He knows I mean it as the highest compliment.)
My favorite TV night is actually Sunday night. Our Sunday night church service is from 6:00 to 7:00. Then we come home, eat, relax, mentally gear up for the upcoming week, and then settle in at 8:00 to watch the PBS shows--"Lark Rise to Candleford" and then the Masterpiece/Mystery series. Lark Rise is a weekly English series, set in the 1800's. It reminds me of our Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman series (I really miss that series, by the way). And the Masterpiece/Mystery thing is split into 3 different seasons (Classic, which is usually period pieces, Masterpiece Contemporary, which are really cool contemporary movies, and the Mystery season). All 3 genres are usually well-written, intelligent, thought-provoking, and without all the guns, hyped-up car chases, and loud action music. Right now we are in the Classic season.
Hope you find something good to watch and praying that those babies make it home safely and SOON!!
Green Bay Packer Football, College Basketball - it is all good!!
Wow! I love hearing your wonderful Passion 2010 report!
I also LOVE that you watch 24. It starts with a 2 hour show on Sunday, January 17th. This happens to be my husband's birthday and I informed him that his birthday celebration would have to be over by 8pm. I will not miss a second of that show.
Biggest Loser (couples!) starts tonight!
Love,
Anne
24 - yes!! I like that show. It starts Jan 17th.
My favorites are NCIS and Big Bang Theory (I'm so much like Sheldon - minus a bunch of IQ points - analyze everything but not good at relating to people).
Thanking God that you made it back safely and trusting the kids will also.
How are your puppies? You haven't mentioned them lately.
Rest up, MamaBeth, we'll see you in 17 days!
Hey can you guys recommend good Mexican restaurants down there? It's hard to find good Mexican food in central NY.
Netflix is a great idea! Old movies are the best.
May I suggest an old movie I've never heard of, and just Tivo'ed over Christmas? It's called Designing Woman (not women)... it's from 1957 with Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall. The clothes are to die for, and the story is cute. Netflix has it.
We are waiting impatiently for 24 as well!
Blessings,
Teri
We watch the tv show Hereos as a family. Probably tricky to "get" but after a few shows you should pick up on it. Kind of a comic book type show with the characters having special powers and their struggle to be "normal" and fight the people using their powers for harm, but it's much deeper than that. At least for me, the mother of two teenage boys. Check it out.
Dear Beth,
I love the Food Network but I have a feeling its not quite your thing!
Sending greetings from your Sisters
Sister Lynn
Clyde MO
Thank you Beth for your willingness to be poured out like a drink offering in Atlanta. My daughter is there volunteering and I know God is doing great things in her life, as well as the whole conference.
May the Lord "sow light as a seed" Psalm 97:11 into your life this day for all that you do and model for us daughters of Zion.
No doubt you were amazing.
The TV thing...almost all crime scenes shows. NCIS, CSI NY (native NY'er), mentalist, lie to me, bones. Just love to see the bad guy get caught. Being a mystery slueth and someone who loves to see people working on the side of justice fits the bill for me.
Someone has already said it, but I will say it again...Netflix. We love getting the old shows like the Waltons. With Netflix, I am able to get a few shows and movies that I like to watch instantly either on my computer or DVR. Beth, I hope you have a DVR.
I sometimes have some of my younger friends (preschoolers) come over and hang out with me. I don't have those "movies" that they like to watch. I am able to get them instantly through Netflix. I am getting practice being a grandma since it will be at least a decade before I get the privilege of having the title.
Oh we prayed, oh yes we did, and God showed Himself mighty for you, praise His name and faithfulness.
Like Susan, I'd like to know WHICH VERSION you found that Psalm 65:11 in. I went to biblegateway.com and tried every English version they had and it never came up with those exact words.
Rest up, Siesta Mama, we might get close enough to hug you in Houston!
My whole family LOVES NCIS. LOVES IT! We're also getting DVDs from JAG. My husband's Navy DOD, can you tell? Netflicks works for us. No commercials, watch when you want, that's how we got hooked on 24. Don't know if I can wait a week between shows. "What's Jack going to do next?"
Anywho, 24 starts up January 17 with the last show of last season to get everyone ready for Season 8 on January 24. They advertise it during all the football games Sunday :-)
Melissa, St. Mary's County, MD
God is so good, Beth, and doeth good!! I am so glad He showed himself strong on your behalf :O)!
I didn't realize that I could watch the video stream on line of "Passion 2010" I am going to have to find it!
I am an NCIS fan! Not sure if that identifies any spiritual need in my life. I am watching less and less TV though and doing more reading and listening to Bible on CD and Tape. I sleep with the Jude and Revelation CD playing over and over again.
The more I am in the Word the less I find myself wanting any TV. It is hard for me to bring the world into my home via the TV, I like to think of my home as a haven of rest...and I hate commercials!
Beth, our ladies are interested in doing the Esther Study...our church is going through some financial stress of sorts, would you pray with me that God will help us find away to get the study into our hands; thanks...I will let you know how and when he made it possible :O)
I am so glad God is faithful!
Agapeo,
Deborah from CT
We chose not to afford cable so my tv recommendation is turn it off. But we do love a good Redbox - grocerystore dvd vending machine (looks like a red coke machine). Go for UP or Julie and Julia. Both lovely. Happy recover - be good!
What a great post! Thank you!
Intervention on A&E is a pretty good show. You just know that God is working in those families and the people struggling with addiction. Sometimes it's heartbreaking when the addict doesn't make it through treatment but I am always so happy and excited when they do, it make me all warm and fuzzy inside!
I will pray for safe travels and continued recovery for you!
Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman is a wonderful, wholesome show.
Beth,
I am thrilled for God's faithfulness in making the way for you to be able to Deliver His Word to the church of tomorrow in Atlanta. Young people are precious to me. I desire they establish a strong love for the LORD when they are young and continue to refine that commitment as they move into adulthood of the late teens and twenties and begin independent living. I pray Jehovah Jireh will provide the vision and wisdom as these young people travel home that they will arrive safely and not forget their experience and commitment of Passion 2010.
I praise God you arrived home safely and are returning to excellent health. It is pure joy to have the priviledge just to continue to pray God's healing power in your body and Elohim's Amazing Grace, Mercy and Peace over you and your precious and wonderful man and family.
Looking forward to seeing Siesta Mama and the Siesta Community on Jan 22.
Sylvia V.
funny you'd bring up TV...in my life the Lord is requiring of me to turn it off and spend one-on-one time with my grandkids, as well as make time for the gym. "my" shows have been Bachelor and Biggest Loser. I will not be watching them. it will be a temptation TO watch them so would appreciate a prayer or two for me. thankful to God for your healing. continue to lift you up...and your family...and your ministry staff.
a faithful friend (in brrr-brrr western Colorado)
Hello Beth:
I am not much of a television watcher - you're absolutely right! There is nothing good on to watch. However, if you like the Winter Olympics, I believe they are coming in February.
I am so glad you are doing well. Take Care, with much love, Julie
The only thing I watch is the old episodes of The Office and Fox news...and of course Bama football.
Jenny in Bama
Our daughter Mary -- a senior @ Kennesaw State Univ. here in Atlanta --is attending Passion 2010 and she let me know all the messages would be on-line. So I've been jumping on-line and have been richly blessed! Your message was power-packed and it was quite obvious that the Lord was not only speaking through you but He was holding you up every second on that platform! All glory to Him! We, at First Baptist Woodstock, are looking forward to hearing you again on April 24!
May HIS Church continue to grow and prosper! Ahhh! Don'tcha just LOVE livin' and lovin' and servin' God in HIS network????
With prayers & blessings to you, Sista!
Praise the Lord for all He has done and all He will do!!
I would suggest anything that makes you laugh!! Some sitcoms are funny. Some old programs can be watched online. Did you used to have a favorite show? Maybe buy the series. "My Name is Earl" is a sweet program tho there are some things that aren't kosher, it always ends with how we should treat each other better!
with love,
Barb
American Idol starts soon. Each season reminds me our the precious Mandisa. At the time, I did not know she was a believer but at the same time, I did know. You know how you know another believer when you know.
But feel in love with her and then found out she was part of your team. Loved her even more. Still do! And then our precious Chris from last season!
I've decided God even uses American Idol to further His Kingdom! And it is fun to watch!
Hi Beth and Amanda! This is my first comment but have been reading for quite some time. I just want to tell you I am sooooo thankful for you, your family and your ministry. You have been such a blessing to me. I am sitting here doing the Breaking Free study right now. I'm on week 10! love to you! Kate Lucius, 28, Toledo OH
I enjoy the Love Comes Softly series on DVD. -The first one is my favorite. The Lord is watching you Beth as well as all of us here in this blog! I posted how in 2009 I contemplated suicide several times. I have been so blessed already in 2010 with new friendships, new Bible Studies, and a closer love for Him. I feel His presence even more great now! He does hear our prayers!!!
Beth ~
This side of heaven, you will never know what your teaching, hunger, and passion have been used by the Lord to do in my life. I thank God for your willingness to serve. I have done most, if not all, and lead several of the Bible studies you have written. I am currently believing God to rescue my beloved husband from the cult in which he was raised. You came to Tulsa about 10 years ago and a young woman prayed to receive Christ then. She came out of the same one. God is HUGE and He is busy. Praise Him for His excellent greatness in holding you up during Passion and praise Him for what is doing in the lives of the lost. With love< Tanya
You and your family were in my prayers!! I am in Atlanta and it was hard for me not to just go on down to the confernece my 50 something year old self!! I know it must have been powerful. Did you get to hear John Piper??
re: tv I think 24 starts soon. Can't wait.
The deer show story had me rolling.
Repentant after show was over..know what you mean.
Melanie, Atlanta
How I praise the Lord that your trip was good and added praises that God kept you on your feet for the time you needed Him to. What an Awesome God and Great Physician He is...
Betty
I love Food Network. My husband thinks that is hilarious. But I just might see something I just might want to cook. Hasn't happened yet but oh, some of those cooks are just marvelous. Seems easy but I think not!!!
Beth, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your pains, and for being a great role model on how to handle it. Public speaking (and dealing with the public) is not easy to do when in good health but with 'pain' it is even harder.
When I read about your back I could feel it, (I have 3 herniated disc L3-S1). Mine are not fresh pain like yours (big ouch) - and your surgery! You show us how to live God's word. I know Paul suffered and should be a role model but you put a 'face' to what I go through.
I just want to say thanks for letting us share the good and bad times with you. May God continue to bless you.
So thankful you made it back! My daughter Melissa said your talk was amazing. She just loves you and so do I!
Praying for Amanda and Curtis and your precious grandyoungin's.
In Him,
Beth
So glad you are recoverying nicely.
It is very hard to find decent TV shows. We do enjoy NCIS. The Biggest Loser is good BUT I can not watch this in real time due to the drama from a few contestants, sadly there are some people you just don't want to hear everything they have to say.
We have also started watching Andy Griffith and Beverly Hillbillies. Very funny.
SOOOOO glad you made it to Passion, through Passion, and home from Passion! My husband and some of our SS class were there, so I kept tabs on you. God be praised!
TV? I've been playing Wii Fit during the "off" season....
adaasd
I too love a good show/movie but it seems as if there is less and less to watch these days... The skin thing about turned my stomach though... YUCK! I am thankful you made it home safe and what an awesome God we serve to give you the strength to deliver His message. My grandfather pastored the same church in Littlefield,TX for 39 years. The last 5-7 were spent on full time oxygen. The most amazing thing though was that the only time he did not need the oxygen was when he was in the pulpit, preaching his heart out! He even did a revival in the last full year of his life for my father's church in Colorado (Where the air is much thinner) with out his air! God does give us strength to do what we need to do.
I love you Beth Moore. You will most likely not know how much you have discipled, challenged, made me agngry at times (Because of the truth you speak), made me cry, made me wish that I could hug you and tell you all I have dealt with and how God has been so faithful, untill we get to heaven where we have eternity to sit and fellowship. Thank you for enduring. God gave me this poem Sunday afternoon and maybe it will encourage your pilgrim heart as it did mine. http://djderouen.wordpress.com/2010/01/03/a-call-for-endurance/

Love you Siesta Mama!! Praying for Amanda, Curtis and babies!!!
I agree about the TV!! I am so sick of "reality", I am living it for crying out loud.....don't need to see a bunch of people looking for five minutes of fame. I also watch HGTV and DIY, but even those are in reruns.....over and over and over and over........
I loved all the Christmas movies on Hallmark, but again, same movies over and over and over and over......can we have something new????
So, I turn on Christian television and watch those I know I can watch safely.
Blessings Beth to you and your family......
Bible Bunny in NO MI
Two nights, four hours, of 24 beginning on January 17. I can't wait! I can't watch it live because of church and because of my children (not exactly a kid show, you know). I usually watch it on the computer at my own pace while I'm folding laundry or something. That way I can still feel semi-productive. (We don't have a working VCR or DVR. C'est la vie.)
So glad you're doing so well. With all the trials for so many going on all around me, it's a breath of fresh air to my spirit to hear a good report. No matter what, we serve an awesome, loving, merciful God! Blessings to you and a continued outpouring of His Spirit upon your life, your family and your teaching.
We aren't the biggest tv watchers but I do watch (DVR) The Biggest Loser. Love it! Jillian and Bob are awesome! Even though Jill sometimes uses bad language!:) And we dvr every day Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly. Gotta love Fox news! We are in our 30's but we sound like we are 70!!
Beth, I was not able to serve at Passion this year. My husband and I wanted to serve together, but I get to be with my beautiful little 3 year old boy during this time...my primary mission field right now. My hubbie is working security down there and loving every minute of it. He was able to hear you speak live and now knows what I have known all along...that you are a true encouragement and dear gift from God. He was moved by your heart and your passion for God's word so much. I was able to catch your message on the Passion playback online (so grateful that they have donw that!). All my praise goes to the Almighty for speaking through you in my deep time of need. I needed to hear that Word...at that moment. I am grateful for your obedience to the Spirit (and to your daughters and husband for bringing you here...and "protecting" you!). You could have easily used your health as a way not to speak and it would have been easily justified. But the Lord called you, and you obeyed. Thank you for that lesson...I think that i need to stop my excuses, and obey.
I am encouraged by your life and the legacy that you have (and are leaving) in your daughters. I am praying that your physical strength increases. Blessings to you and your family!
Tara
We just started watching Castle.....it's got some good humor. I also love NCIS for the same reason. I love subtle humor.
Praise You Father from whom all blessings flow.
I enjoy watching 18 Kids and Counting -- and that is about it unless you count the shows we watch as a family - Suite Life on Deck and iCarly :) I think I am going to have to DVR 24 though and see what that is all about!!
Thanks for the report on how the weekend went! I am soo glad to hear that you were not only able to do your thing but that you didn't feel any weakness at all! God is just amazing! I thought about you all and prayed for you especially on Sunday as you spoke! I know that God will use your dedication and willingness to come even when you don't feel all that great. I love the thought of Melissa being your body guard! Lol! I can see her doing that!
As for what's on TV, the only thing I watch regularly is the Food Network...you really can't go wrong there! Chopped is great! Food Network Challenge is always good! And lately I've been watching GLEE. I love the music and the fact that all of people on there actually do their own singing...it's a little rough sometimes because it's showing how High School is and we all know that it's not that pretty in today's High Schools! Makes me pretty happy about the fact that I was Homeschooled! Lol!
But like someone else stated Netfix is awesome! I love being able to go and find old favorite movies and dvd's of my favorite tv shows from when I was little! Totally worth the monthly fee!
I hope that you are recooping and continue to get your strength back! AND that you get your hands on those sweet babies soon!!
Love you dear Mama Beth!
Nikki
Amen, Siesta. I am so tired of nothing to watch. 24 is a fav. If you have time, read some of Vince Flynn. Mitch Rapp is the hero who works much like Jack Bauer.
Praise God for giving you the strength and grace in time of need. He is worthy!
My husband and I saw our first 24 commercial for the new season 2 wks ago - YAY! Try NCIS w/ Mark Harmon - I'm not a fan of the other CIS shows. One of my favorite shows now even though I have to look away from some of the gross shots... SOOO HAPPY to hear you're doing so well - God is so GOOD!
The mentalist!!! or the closer??
Masterpiece and Mystery on PBS, Robin Hood on BBC. We're also waiting for Jack Bauer's return.
Prayers for your continued recovery and thanks to God for His faithfulness!
I just don't get it. I watched 24 one time (i think finale) and what I saw what murder, infidelity and scandal. Someone please help me with this?? Does the LORD REALLY want us watching stuff like this? I gotta say I am a little discouraged here. 24 is Babylon at its finest. And we can't wait for it to start. Our committee meetings at church are actually cut short so we Christ followers can rush home to watch it. Help me with this someone! No condemnation here, just need some understanding.
Beth, you are one amazing lady and God has used you to imprint so much on my life. I am a prayer warrior for you and your ministry. Thank you for who you are and so glad to hear you triumphed over the weekend.
Miss Beth,
I'm glad you were safe and well enough to do what God has asked of you. I am really hoping that I can come here you this year.
As far as TV goes, you might try hulu.com. Everything I like to watch usually ends up there, along with alot of the classics.
Hugs,
Melinda
So glad you are feeling better and were healthy to speak for Passion 2010. Praise God!
As for TV. We love football in our house so we have been bowl watching and being Alabama/Texas fans we will be glued to the tv Thursday night.(I am the Bama fan and my husband growing up in Tx is the Longhorns fan!) As for girl tv...totally HGTV.
I am waiting for NCIS to start back. My favorite show. Of course Fox News is addictive. Glad you are feeling better. Our God is awesome about that is HE not? -6 today having a heat wave....Which way to the beach...
We're in that same TV drought! We love NCIS and can't wait for the new shows to begin again. I found myself watching Touched By An Angel last night. We record '24' b/c I can't go to sleep for about 2 hrs after it's over--I think I run every step with Jack!!!!
I'm glad you were able to attend the Passion 2010 conference with your family (minus those adorable kiddos)and can't wait to see you in Houston in 17 days.
Safe travel today and Wed.& Thurs for Amanda & Curtis.
Oh Beth, if I ever wrote the response I wanted to write, I fear it would be 20 pages long. How I would have loved to haul my five teenage and young adult children to Atlanta to see the miracle God did with you!
So I will just stick to one thing--recommended viewing. Modern Family is one of the most delightful shows I have ever seen. Every single week we laugh our heads off over the craziness of this family. Often we watch it twice because we needed a laugh that much. But there is a sweetness to it as well that is just amazing. Wednesday nights on ABC--catch up on Hulu.com. And have you seen Band of Brothers? If not, that will give you 12 hours of unforgettable drama, all true, with the real veterans in talking head shots at the beginning of each episode. I weep every time I see their faces.
It premiered on September 11, 2001 (really) and my family watched it through one of the toughest periods of our entire life. There is no doubt in my mind that God used it to encourage us. Even all these years later, especially at times when bravery is needed, we will put in one of the dvds.
Disclaimer: There is swearing in BoB and, obviously violence, but extraordinary heroism, brotherhood and courage as well.
Watch the Biggest Loser...the physical changes are wonderful, but it's inspiring to see the emotional changes that help these people become positive, get over something in their past, etc., which in turn helps them be more positive, happy people that don't hide behind food or weight.
Also, anything on Food Network or HGTV.
Beth, during those prayer times, could you please add a couple more? Our Children's pastor suffered a brain aneurysm Sunday night (not at church, praise God that those babies didn't have to see that) and passed away yesterday. We are all in shock as you can imagine - please lift up the family of Mark Gibson and the Cherokee Hills Baptist Church family in OKC.
And for myself - I was supposed to have my gallbladder out yesterday after 10 years of off and on issues and my surgery was cancelled - because I am PREGNANT! We've been trying for nearly NINE YEARS for another baby (our son is 10 in March) and I am getting some labwork done today...pray that this all goes well. It is VERY early: I estimate 3-4 weeks along. God just astounds me...and He is good even in the loss of my friend. What an emotional rollercoaster...I am exhausted.
Much love to you all...enjoy your time with Keith and those grandbabies when they get back home! Take care, Siesta Mama. <3
Here's some TV suggestions for you:
Men of A Certain Age (on TNT... I think) - Really funny stuff! Sometimes a bit too real-life.
The Middle (on NBC) - funny!
Southland (was on NBC but they cut it, premiers on TNT Jan. 12) - - EXCELLENT cop drama
I too get some time on-line when the men (hubs, 13 & 9) watch their hunting shows. I will tell you what drives me crazzy is the whispering. I can't stand it. I try and endure as long as I can but there are some times that I get a tick and my eye starts to twitch just thinking about the channel number. :)
So very glad that your strength is returning and you are recovering. Don't overdo it this week, though.
Stephanie Crawford
24 ROCKS!!! Have you ever seen "The Ultimate Gift" great movie. Praising the Lord for what He has done. May He continue to strengthen and heal you!!
I have no suggestions on TV. But, I am so glad to hear from you. Praise God that you were able to deliever the message that God had for those young adults.
I will continue to pray for Amanda and her family's safe travels.
Our church is having revival this week. It has been such a blessing to start off the year in the Spirit.
Have any of you out there in blog world heard of Junior Hill, Jeff Laborg, or Bob Pitman? These are some of the men that will be delivering Gospel messages this week at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Ardmore, Al.
Praise be to God for your awesome Passion 2010 report!!! He just keeps coming through!!!
About tv - not sure if it will be on again this season, but my husband and I are TOTALLY addicted to "Kings". If it doesn't come on again, i recommend watching the previous seasons. It follows the story of David pretty closely. It is outstanding!!!!!
Beth,
Keep your eyes and mind clear of 24 and shows like it. PLEASE!!! Cooking channel, Biggest looser, American Idol or anything that does not flaunt sex, murder and then stamp something righteous about it.
Siestas, The LORD cares about what we watch and the time we spend. Its all His time. May we be dilegent and watchful to keep our eyes and minds holy. I love you all so much. We are IT in the body. If we don't take an inventory of our day and how we spend it then who will? Love you Beth. It takes a true friend to speak of things unpleasant. Your walk is very important to the LORD. Don't let up.
Gal 2:20. God bless you all
JANUARY 17th -- Wow - never pictured you as the violent tv watching type! My husband will LOVE that you watch that show, it's his favorite!
What a blessing to read all that God is doing in and through your life Miss Beth. You are an encouragement and inspiration, a living sacrifice if ever I've seen :)
Your family is precious, thank you for your blog.
We got ourselves The West Wing for Christmas - we didn't even watch it when it was on TV, but several years ago a friend let us borrow it and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Now we're enjoying it again. It's good clean witty fun.
Sweet Beth, I was cheering you on (although delayed) and praying for you in Atlanta!! I watched the playback of most of the speakers on the 2010 website. I loved what you said and I think Heb. 13:20-21 will be the first memory verse in my new index card binder..(YAY, I love a new one :)
There is absolutley nothing on TV. NOTHING. My husband LOVES those deer hunting shows and when they start to whisper, I just loose it. That drives me nuts! We have however, joined my husband in watching the RFD channel. Keith would love it. Some of our favorite shows are: American Rancher, Cattleman to Cattleman, Cowboy Flavor, and my girls are in there watching reruns of Daniel Boone right now. (No I'm not kidding) at least the commercials are clean on this channel. I've all but given up on the Food network and HGTV for my kids (although we love House Hunters). I have to prescreen everything, mute the commercials, and thank God for DVR! Most days I choose to watch Little Bear with my 4 year old....that's my favorite ;-)
love you and keep resting yourself
The weather channel is about the only thing I can stomach on tv anymore. Even, that can be difficult sometimes, especially when they keep saying how cold it is. Believe me, NE Indiana folk KNOW how cold it is outside.
Praying for continued healing and strength for you.
Gaylene
I am right there with you sister! I think the Biggest Loser is the only thing I watch anymore (good thing they run two seasons).
One more thing, I am so excited for the young people at the conference and I am praying that each one of them will have such a desire for the Lord that it cannot be quenched. And I was wondering if you would remember my daughter Shelby in prayer. She is 17 and I know she loves the Lord but I want her to have a PASSION for Him!
Thank you for all you do and the blessing this blog has been.
Heather M.

Beth,
I wish you knew how encouraging this blog is to me!
I'm praising the Lord with you.
BTW-the CUTEST new show started on Food Network Sunday night
called "The Worst Cooks in America".
And...I think American Idol starts next week! :)
Much Love,
Carmen in OH
What's not entertaining about deer skin diseases?! Unfortunately I have no better recommendations for your tv enjoyment.
I am so grateful to God for answering our prayers. You bless and encourage us beyond words. You, Miss Beth, are one incredible woman of God!! Praying for your continued healing and recovery as well as safe travels for Amanda and Curtis and the adorable grandbabies. I hope you get your hands on them soon!
Love to you and all the Siestas from very cold Colorado!
Christy
PS Can't wait for Houston!!!!!
Beth, my daughter was a part of your audience on Sunday... She left your presence with a new purpose in her life!!!
Gina, Auburn Universtiy, AL
Glad you are able to be out! God Bless you and all the work you do for the cause of Christ!
Oh, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and better!
As for TV, well..... I have started watching TV shows on DVD.(Does anybody else think that's an unusual phenomenon? To go to the video store and rent a TV show???)
If I were to recommend anything, it would be "LOST". Oh, the "Constant" episode just throws me under the bus. JESUS IS OUR CONSTANT! HE WHO IS, WHO WAS AND WHO IS TO COME! (You gotta see it. Really. I bet someone who writes for that show is a believer.)
However, since Christmas I've been deep into watching LOUIE GIGLIO DVD'S! (how's that for timing?)
I did watch the first season of "24" but man, I couldn't take the stress!!!! Ruined a perfectly good manicure! hee hee
Love ya!
Dear Beth, I am encouraged by the progress you have made since surgery. And that Passion 2010 went so well.
But about TV shows? I am discouraged by the comments I see about what shows to watch. Some of those suggested, well, I feel they aren't appropriate. I have come to the conclusion that if I can't watch a show with my 16 year old son in the room, then I shouldn't be watching it at all. In your Daniel study, you talk about being a holy vessel. That if we are a holy vessel, why are we subjecting or exposing ourselves to unholy things???
We are holy vessels, ladies!! The Spirit dwells in us!! Let's not let anything in that we wouldn't want next to Him!
I frequently pass a church in town that has the same phrase posted out on their signboard. At first I wondered why they never change it. Now I welcome the constant reminder...."Guard Your Heart."
Guard your heart! Remember, you're the only one that can do that.
White Collar, Psych and of course Monk. Of course we often opt for Maverick, or Bonanza something of a bygone time as well.
PTL for God's outrageous grace in your life Mama Beth! I'm amazed you would have tackled such an event after your "event"...but leave it to God and Him only! What a joy you had to be a part of inciting and stirring the next generation going and glowing for God.
I have to agree for HGTV as being something good to watch, but you can get awfully tired of that too. My husband and I love the "Biggest Loser" and we can actually see the difference between the believers and the non-believers in the way they tackle the mountain of weight facing them. A new season starts tonight, and we are cheering them on. In fact for Christmas we bought the Wii and got the Biggest Loser Game so we can exercise with a fake Bob and Jill! Let's hope it works.
Praying travel journey mercys for your kids and G-kids...I hear it's bitter cold in those parts.
Hugs,
Pam H.
Buena Park, CA
Just wanted to tell you, "you Rock" Glad you and your loved ones are home safely. I rarely watch T.V. nothing catches my eye or interest, maybe college football and that is about all I can stand. Thank goodness for Disney's, Cinderella or I would never watch the dang thing. Oh, I just remembered, I do enjoy Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs on Discovery channel. Those shows are fun to watch.
Forget TV and go to see "The Blind Side" at the movies.
rented movies...until they quit showing reruns
I can't believe you have time to watch "24", even when you are feeling great??? good show, tho
Prayers to all siestas, may the Good Lord cover us all.
I think I remember you saying that you have the
basic tv channels, is that right? Anyway, if you
have the Hallmark channel, I watched a "Touched
By An Angel" re-run last night and it was great. My
husband even watched it with me. :)
I love you Beth!
And I second the "Burn Notice" nomination. Get the dvd and enjoy. :)
