Passion 2010
Hello, Siestas! I'm typing this blog from a lovely new airport in Springfield, Missouri. Curtis and I have left our kiddos with his parents and we are heading to Atlanta for Passion 2010. By the way, it was eight degrees when we left the house this morning. EIGHT DEGREES. Our flight is delayed an hour, so Curtis and I are sitting at a little table where he is going over some notes and I am talking to you for the first time in 2010. I'm already enjoying the evenness of the number 2010. Isn't it lovely? Well, I'm sure you can tell by this brilliant post that I've been on vacation for a week. I don't even know what day of the week it is.
However, I do know that on this day twelve years ago my mom forced me in the car and drove us to Austin, Texas, for Passion '98. I knew nothing about this conference except that it was for college students and they allowed high school seniors like me to attend. I was too nervous and skeptical to be excited. I had absolutely no idea how God would change my life at that conference and at the Passion conferences to come. I became a part of the "268 Generation" - a generation living for the glory of God. 268 comes from Isaiah 26:8, which says, "Yes, Lord, walking in the way of Your truth, we wait eagerly for you, for Your name and Your renown are the desire of our souls." When I learned that glorifying God was the entire purpose of my life, I was changed.
Curtis is leading a community group of students and my mom will speak tomorrow. Melissa and Colin are on their way home to Atlanta and will meet us there. We are so excited and blessed to get to serve this week. I confess that I'm also looking forward to being "alone" with my man for a few days. God bless my in-laws for keeping our babies after having all of us in their home for a week!
Please pray for our Siesta Mama as she travels today and teaches tomorrow. This will be her first time to travel and speak since the surgery. (She's going to take it as easy as possible. My dad will be with her and I know he will take good care of her.) Other things you can pray for are:
-our flights to be on time
-good health
-God's blessing over Jackson and Annabeth's time with their grandparents
-Jesus to be glorified through every single soul who attends this conference!

Amanda - I have some sweet young friends that will be at Passion. One is a precious young college student named Ashley, she is beautiful inside and out. When she and I met, I saw she was wearing a blue bracelet. I asked her if she was "Believing God?" Yes! She and some of the other cheerleaders from the squad at UGA were doing the study. (Ashley is the squad's Captain.) I was so blessed by her, and we had our own God S.T.O.P. moment when she told me they couldn't afford the DVD's, they were just listening to the CD's. The Holy Spirit prompted me to loan her the Believing God DVD's from my church library, and a friendship was formed that day.
She is coming to Passion for the first time and she is so excited about hearing your Mom.
Three young guys from my church are also coming - and they are so excited about hearing "Mrs. Beth." One of them is studying to be a Pastor. They are great young men.
My youngest son LOVED Passion the years he attended, and I know God used it greatly in His life.
I am praying today for your Mom to have extra energy to accomplish what God will use her to do. Bless her Lord.

I told her one day last week that I didn't know if Beth Moore was going to be there since she'd just had surgery. She'll be surprised and happy that she did indeed make it.

I'll admit, after having been there in the grass at the "original" OneDay gathering in 2000, I do tear up every time I read Isaiah 26:8...I can't help but hear your mom's voice resonating in my my head and heart as she declares: "If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, who could stand? But with You, there is forgiveness....I wait for the Lord, my soul waits....more than watchmen wait for the morning...!" And remembering that pile of college-aged bodies that hurled themselves at the foot of that massive cross there on Shelby Farms--bodies that were connected to souls saying, "Yes, Lord--"
Of course, God has done many, many things in my life since that day, and I am so grateful....but that day--that huge "One"day was monumental in my heart and in my walk with Christ!
And, I can't help but be a tad jealous that you guys are up there helping fan the flame in Hotlanta ten years later! How exciting! Blessing on you guys...on Louie and team...on you and Curtis...on your darling mama and awesome dad...! Jesus, be magnified!

My husband is on the way to Atalnta right now with a group from our church! I have been and will remain in prayer for the event. I wish I could come so badly, but I am a public school teacher and classes begin on Monday. I'm glad Beth feels well enough to be there - I've been praying specifically for her health. The first time I ever heard your mom speak was at a Breakout Session at Passion 2006 when I was 18 years old.
She spoke for an hour and a half, and I have never been more stunned in my life. It felt like 5 seconds.
She was the first person in my life to speak about all the major issues that I was dealing with--it was like someone opened the door and just let freedom flow into my life. I learned that day what it meant for a Christian speaker to speak the TRUTH.
Four years later, she continues to be the greatest spiritual mentor I have.
I went to Passion twice as a college student and I wish all the time that my current schedule would permit me to return.
I will pray for your trip and that Beth will open the door to another unsuspecting girl like me. :)

My daughter Katelyn is attending the Passion Conference! Right now she's all by lonesome because her friend Amanda has had her flight delayed because of sick crew members. I just have to get on here again and say that I looked at the webise for Passion...oh, how I wish that I would have attended one of these events when I was college age! I did get the cd's in my early years as a Christian (my late teens and young 20's) so I was aware of the music but never knew that there was a conference!

My daughter, Melissa, is at the Passion 2010 right now! I am praying for everyone attending and for all of the speakers, teachers, and praise leaders.
Please pray for Melissa - this is her first outing in the 5 weeks since she was hospitalized with severe Malaria. (she got it in Africa on a mission trip). SHe is still very weak but wanted to attend so badly! She was not feeling well this morning when her group left Baton Rouge at 4:30 am. Please lift her up that the Lord can work mightily in her life this weekend.

Girl I am so jealous :) but so glad you guys are getting to go. God changed my life as a leader at Passion in Nashville. My husband is a minister and we had the BLESSING of our lives by taking our college kids and even at the time wasnt to far removed from the college scene. Im afraid now I would defintley be known as a leader. Anyways, It was unbelievable! And I also met your mom after a breakout session I was blubbering mess, God had moved in me in such a way that I thought I was going to explode. I know she thought this poor child needs help. Will not ever forget the things God put in my heart there.
Anyways would love to hear more of how passion is going. Will be praying for the whole gang. You and Curtis have a great time and don't let the enemy rob you of anything over the next few days!

I'm so excited that you and Curtis are on your way to our hometown of Atlanta. I've been to Springfield many times as my kids are long time campers at Kanakuk Kamps and have flown in there. It's cold tonight, but we've had beautiful blue skies today and hopefully through the weekend as well. I'll say a prayer for your little ones too. I remember how hard it is to leave them, but so refreshing for you and Curtis and your time together. I'm hoping that my college boys can get tickets to Passion at this late hour. I know that it will be amazing and a true spiritual awakening in many ways. Please pray for our family as we begin this new year. God bless your time in Atlanta. I have only been to one Passion conference and it was Passion '98 as well! It was a life-changing event for me because, although I was already saved, it was the first time I truly accepted Jesus for myself and made my decision my own...so Passion holds a special place in my heart! Thank you for telling us how God changed your life. It is so awesome to go back to that moment that you recognised that Jesus is really REAL. I remember the moment it happened with me. It was not even carefully thought out either. In fact it was in the midst of a plan to be completely rebellious when my grandparents left for a three week vacation and I had their house to myself!

I attended Passion 2007 in Atlanta. This was the first time that I had ever heard you speak live, Beth. You spoke about humility and the Biblical truths that you addressed moved me beyond measure. This past April, I purchased tickets for Passion 2010 for my wonderful boyfriend for his birthday. I was beyond excited about participating in Passion 2010 with Dempsey (the boyfriend) and some of my wonderful friends. But, some things changed. I am in graduate school to become a high school/middle school English teacher. This semester I start my final semester of my Master of Arts in Teaching, which is student teaching. I was informed by my university supervisor that I had to begin student teaching on the 4th of January instead of the 6th. This meant that I would be unable to attend Passion. So, that's why I'm typing on your wonderful blog while thousands of other college students are worshiping together. BUT, I am not disappointed. Rather, I am so blessed beyond measure to be able to approach my wonderful Lord in prayer and to ask for an anointing on Atlanta. I pray that God will move in the hearts of college students and leaders like he's never moved before. I pray that this year, 2010, we can truly become the 268 generation and that we will be united for HIS renown. I have one last, prayer. My precious, future husband (yes, the once boyfriend Dempsey is now my husband-to-be!) can learn wonderful Biblical truths that he can bring into our marriage. I pray that God will stir in his heart a vision for our marriage and our future together.I love ya'll and am praying for your whole family as your participate in the Passion Movement this year!

Funny thing...I'm from Spfld., MO! Been traveling to Houston weekly/monthly for 2 years and looking for you or your mom as I navigate the 610 loop! Anyhoo...I have a blog...theleslieupdate.blogspot.com. It is a journal of my experience in Houston, and would you believe it but my nurses were Grace and Mercy, too! Wrote about it in 2008. Just thought your mom might enjoy reading about my experience with them...LOVED THEM! They were my nurses, and a certain Dr. Kueher (pronounced "Cure") was my surgeon! You need to read about that! The Lord changed my daughter's heart and life at Passion'05...she was a high school senior at the time who was struggling with her faith. On the very first night she gave her life to the Lord!!!
She will turn 23 tomorrow and is still in love with Jesus and is serving Him with her life. She is called into ministry and will be attending Bible college next fall.
We will be praying for you, your family and the conference...can't wait to hear all about it!

The college-aged guys that my husband mentors (and they lead our youth worship) are there and are stoked about it.. and we are stoked for them. They need this... God has done an amazing transformation in their lives over the past few years and we know He's not finished! We're praying for big things for Jordan, Bradley, Zach and Andrew!
So, if when gazing upon the crowd of however many thousand there are, if you happen to see a curly haired carrot-top-like red head wearing a pink crocheted beanie, smile and send up an extra prayer for the guys :-)

Especially be with Beth, Lord, as I know you are faithful in ministering to all who are called, let her have strength and energy to meet the weekend's activities. I am so thankful that in weakness we have your strength that is manifested through us, let this be so over my sister in Christ.
I also bring before you Amanda's requests of you. Father you are in control and you are Sovereign, we trust you to work all things out to your glory.

Ahh, so sad to be missing Passion this year. My life has been impacted by a Passion conference too! It's just amazing to see an entire sports arena packed with thousands of college students lifting up praise to the Lord together - I will definitely miss it this year and will be praying for the lasting impact it will have on a generation that needs it!
I was suppose to be there at Passion volunteering and actually taking care of your mama and others in the hospitality area -- but God had other plans. I'm nursing a hacking cough and severe cold. Maybe next year. In the meantime, I'm praying for all of you as well as the 22,000 attendees. Bless you all!
Will be lifting you all up in prayer! Our college age students all took a trip down there from Rhode Island, Ocean State Baptist Church!!! Praying for their safe travel and spiritual awakening!!!

Glad to hear you are heading to Passion 2010. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers during your time at the event as well as for the time you will spend away from your children. I think that, for me, is always the hardest part. I think of the kiddos the whole time!
Also, Is the blog going to do the Memory Verse 2010? I have one picked out to start the year with and hadn't seen a post yet.

We just got back from a few days in Atlanta and I loved seeing all the Passion promo stuff. We were in the Phillips Arena one night while we were there so I have loved seeing the pix come up on twitter! Looks just amazing! I was telling my oldest about it and I pray one day he'll go...even if I do drag him. I guess momma's can't do that when you aren't speaking!
I'm praying your momma can rest well when she is finished and everyone returns home safely.

People from our church are there. One of my friends' son is there and sent her a message when Mama Beth was speaking (to tell her that "her girl" was speaking)! I was trying not to be jealous because I wanted to be there! Sadly, I couldn't pass for a senior in HS or a college student.

My 20 year old daughter is at Passion and she called me today to tell me she heard Beth speak and that God had really spoken to her through Beth. She sounded so excited at what God had revealed to her and said she couldn't wait to tell me all about it when she got home! I am so thankful Beth was there today and a tad bit jealous I must say!

Thanks for this post Amanda! I was at Passion 98 in Austin too....that's crazy!! Maybe we saw each other and didn't even know it. Passion was life changing for me too, & my boyfriend (now my husband.) :-) I would love to talk with you more about it someday!!!

How exciting you are going to the Passion 2010 Conference. While I don't meet the age requirements of attending...I have just finished the Passion Series DVD's...WOW!!! I am currently listening to Louie Giglio's sermon series on "Grace, The One and Only." Double Wow!! I most definitely will be praying for this time that God will be glorified, as well as the other requests you mentioned, especially your mom!!!

I pray for you hand upon our dear Beth, that you would help her to feel rested and at peace in you, that you would help her to not feel overwhelmed at all throughout the Passion conference. Father I thank you for the blessing of Curtis' parents and their willingness to love on Jackson and Annabeth. It is so hard as young parents to leave our babies behind, but I pray that you would bless their time with their Grandparents. Father-I pray for hearts to be transformed through the Passion conference, that more would come to truly know the love and strenghth of the Mighty Name of Jesus!

When we are going through hard circumstances...
sometimes, it is nice to snuggle up in the comfort and love of God's arms, just to let Him hold us. We cannot control all our circumstances, but we can learn from them and trust God. He is going through our circumstances with us. We will keep believing, keep hoping, and keep praying. Our God is bigger than whatever we face in now or in the future.

My Senior, 18 year old son Trey is at Passion and loving it! He did get the privilege to attend one of Beth's conferences a few years ago, as 1 of 2 guys at the whole event. Very brave for a 15 year old at that time. Anyway, I am so thankful that your Mom is doing well and well enough to speak at Passion! I was SO BLESSED to be at Passion over the weekend as a leader (back in TN for work, boo). Ya'll, God spoke through Beth at the main session and break-out session, I only wish there had been more time for the Q&A! I have been renewed and set on fire, and I am so so thankful that your mom was able to speak this past weekend. I will continue to pray for your mom's health and your family's ministry.

I am new to this area but am so very excited to begin another study tomorrow morning. Our group will begin 'Breaking Free' Updated.. We are in Hendersonvill, NC and let me tell you IT IS COLD. The wind is blowing so hard and we'll have more snow again tomorrow (so unlike this area!). Lord providing-- I'll join my girlfriends to begin this next study. God is incredible and I love how He works through these Bible Studies and gives me just what I'm needing right then! Continued prayers for You Dear Beth, and your precious family!

Jack is back!! Sister - "24" starts Sunday the 17th - 2-hour premier!!! My man just asked me tonight, "WHEN DOES '24' START??? We are like a couple of crack-heads about it. Can hardly wait! Pathetic, I know. But, seriously... there is just rot on TV right now. Just rot.

hey! my name is LeAnne and i am a senior student who just got back from passion 2010! i just found your blog online and i just wanted to tell you thank you so much for chasing after the Lord with all your heart and coming to speak at passion! God used you so SO much in my own life and many friends around me! this was the first time for me to hear you and it was evident that you had power from the Holy Spirit speaking through you! It was such an encouragement to see how you are in awe of who God is! anyways i just wanted to tell you that God used you so much at passion and i am looking forward to see what He is going to do this year because of what He did there in atlanta!

Passion 2010, some of the college students at my church are going to be there for that! I never went to one, but I have heard of 268 generation. May they be sanctified my the Lord there! May you all be blessed and changed! Isaiah 26:8 is a powerful verse. May it be true of our generation! With clean hands and a pure heart, serving God with all humility and for His glory!

okay. so i am a missionary in accra, ghana, west africa and was unable to attend passion this year. i have been here for 6 months and have 6 months to go. then on to honduras as the Lord leaves to start my life's work in building and orphanage for abandoned children. but that was not the point. i had a good friend who did attend passion this year, and he called last night and told me to watch or listen to beth's part of the conference. so i'm pretty excited about it. he said she wrote it with me in mind. kinda nervous, but anxious to learn something. so where can i find that video, or podcast. mucho thanks.

returned home in warm CA yesterday from serving as an intercessor at Passion 20 10. Grateful to pray for you all. Catching up on the blog just sweet. Didn't get to see much there, but as a 44 yr old mom with collegiate "children" attending I heard a lot and I did see GOD! Glory
On the last day we prayed for the speakers. Our little circle was assigned Beth. How sweet to pray before, through healing and back to life. In the furniture issue I even see answers to prayer. God hears. He is...we can. desperatly dependent
