Disney pictures, please.
Y'all must have read my mind! Just this morning I spent my Quiet Time trying to iron out whether I had missed a verse, so thank you. Can't wait for the conference, my scripture are already proving so helpful it's unbelievable.
Also, I got my packets in the mail from Compassion last week and have sent off my first correspondence to my two new sponsor children in India. It is so exciting and rewarding already- thanks for all you guys do to aid us in our walk of faith!
Hey ya'll! I've posted each time, but I haven't used a google blogger name. Is this okay as long as our name is included in each actual post? I really want to come to Houston, but now I'm afraid you don't know the posts were from me. Thanks for your help.

Welcome back, Amanda! Next time you visit Orlando, give a shout out to us girls who live here! (we tend to know the Disney ropes scary well...my hubby has worked part-time at House of Blues for almost ten years now, and we get to go to Disney free because of it!).
Happy (late) Mother's Day <3
Praying now for the time and the funds to be there!

Can't wait to get these 24 verses in my brain! I love God's word so much! Thank you for offering this reward for us.
I'm planning to come to Oklahoma City for the Deeper Still conference in December and my husband agreed to let me come to Houston the very next month! I just love that man of mine! He wants God's best for me.
I've still got a couple of verses to catch up on since I got in on this thing a little late. I had no idea there were tutorial videos! Just finished watching them. Loved it, Beth! Thank you. I've been memorizing the Word since my childhood, but I needed the reminder to need it and to wield that sword! Love you guys for letting us be on this ministry ride with you.
Hope you had a great time on vacaion. We missed hearing from you, but know you will share later. I can hardly wait for January! This has been such a neat thing, something I have never done as an adult before. It has proven to be so helpful I will continue this discipline every year! Looking forward to hearing more.

i joined the scripture memory team late but when I went back to check previous comment sections, my name/verses were not posted. Does this mean I am not officially signed up? I check the anonymous box every time I post- is this what I am supposed to be doing?

Thank you Amanda, I had no idea I would find this memory challenge possible(I'm almost 60 and my memory disappears on occassion)- however I have been able to memorize all so far- if you and Beth have time, would you mind sharing with us all the positive results you have found with this process? I also find it interesting how a "theme" develops with the verses we select. Kathy, Austin
Working on the scriputres and must admit am having a tough time!!!
Had a feeling it might be Disney...pics please....my favoirte is It's a Small World......
Welcome home
I wish we had known you were at Disney - we would have come over- I would LOVE to meet you or Melissa or Beth in person!! It had to be so much fun seeing Disney through Jackson's eys! We live about an hour away and are over there 2-3 times a month!! We've been going to WDW for 32 years and are so grateful the Lord moved us close by where we can enjoy it more than 2 or 3 times a year (the Lord moved us from Chicago to Florida in 2003).
I'm also enjoying the scripture memory challenge! Number 10 coming this Friday!
Thanks for the updates! I still have my sun tan lotion out and ready to go. Yep - me, my Bible, my verses and my Coppertone. What else can I possibly need?
Looking forward to Houston in January,
Warm in Alaska.
Thank you for the update! I'm really excited to hear all the testimonies and fellowship at this event!!
For me the hard part is memorizing the "handle", where the verse is located! Any tips?

This may seem like a “truly silly” question, but I am wondering if any of you (Beth, Amanda, & Melissa) could explain in a post sometime what your quite time with the Lord looks like. I understand that it should be something between you and the Lord but any outline or examples of what you do during that time I think would be helpful to a lot of “new believers” that hear other woman talk about having their quite time but may be too embarrassed to ask them what exactly they do in that time. I feel like from what I have heard other woman express about this time it is vital to your relationship strengthening and going deeper with the Lord. Maybe many of us are doing the same thing others are but feel maybe that isn’t “right”….I don’t know if this makes any sense or not!!!!!!????
Any insight would be VERY much appreciated!!
Welcome back!

Welcome home Amanda! We missed you. Prayed for you to have the best time, and it sounds like you did!
I've already got my hotel room and 3 bff's to share it with me, for Houston!!!

Thank you! I'm excited. And I want to see if now my name has a picture :-)

I'd like to join the scripture memory team! I cannot wait to start memorizing God's word! I know I have some scripture to catch up on!!! A friend told me to check out your blog and I already love it. I am doing my first bible study with you...Esther...and it has been such a blessing! Thank you so much!

I must admit I have fallen off the memory team, and by fell I mean jumped... I just am not "feeling" it at all.. I know that is what the enemy wants me to feel...
My scripture memory verses have blessed me beyond belief. Living Proof has given me the push I needed to start doing scripture memory - I will never be the same! Praise God. And to think I get another reward for memorizing -can't wait to meet you all!
Amanda,
Great to have you back! Glad you had a great time! Disney is so fun with little kids. I bet Jackson was just amazing to watch! You were very courageous to do that with your Annabeth! Good Job!
Hope you all reaclimate well! Revisiting boundaries all over again. I remember all too well.
Jina
I can't tell you how excited I am about the Houston celebration in January. I'm completely on fire with this scripture memorization journey...maybe even a little over the top. I've memorized the 9 to date, and additionally - I accepted a challenge to memorize Psalm 119 - yes, the LONG one, and I have 68 verses under my belt so far. I honestly can't believe I've stuck with it, but I'm so grateful that I have!
I really would appreciate prayers, however, that I would be able to attend the event in January. I'm afraid that it may be a financial burden, as my family will be traveling to Kansas (20 hours away) in December to visit my new nephew born last week. Additionally, my daughter's 13th birthday is on January 23, and I don't want to miss even an hour of it. So, if I attend - then the whole family will have to join me, making the trip costlier. I know my God can make all things happen, and if I am to be there physically - I will be. If not, I'll be there in spirit celebrating with all my Siestas! Thank you, in advance, for praying!
Hi Amanda,
Welcome home! I, too, am anxious to see pics of those beautiful children of yours at Disney World. I mean,it's not like you posting pics or anything, right?
Glad that you are home.
I am praying about attending the conference. You know, I have the most difficult time remembering the references, no matter how hard I try. I am more of a I know it's in this book, on the left hand side of the page...will that count against me???
Kels
This year has been such a blessing, and memorizing the scriptures with all 2,000+ ladies has been a wonderful blessing. The anointing this journey is bringing to our lives something that overwhelms me at times. Thank you for your prayers and looking forward to the conference.

I am just waiting for the OK; like what I need to do, then buying the place ticket.
Fired up about the conference!!! Would it be possible for you to list some hotels near FBC? This country girl has a hard time driving around the big city!!! Thanks a bunch!
Yay! Exciting! I'm loving this discipline and so hoping I can come to the conference. I am finding that as I go along, I can still remember my verses from earlier in the year, but I'm jumbling up my references. Still practicing, though. Thanks for inspiring this challenge. It's making a difference in my life.
whohoo! I have a Houston friend I will be staying with and now I can tell her she can still be in on things if she does the work. yipee!!!
Hi Amanda,
I'm working on my verses... I'm doing fine memorizing each individual verse, and once I see the first word, I can remember the entire thing, but I was having trouble remembering that first word. So I've been taking the first word from each verse and trying to string them together into a sentence, in hopes I'll remember them that way.... Does that make sense? So my "sentence" thus far is:
"But therefore, Oh so let the LORD, because if can...." and I'll keep adding to this with the first words from the remaining verses.
I am so looking forward to Houston!
Love,
Adrienne
I am in with the verses, but not in for Houston...I wish I could but I am limited to one trip a year, and this year I am giving that to my daughter who really needs a trip more than me. But thanks for the verses, and some direction on memorizing...
Hey girls!
Its been a while-I've missed you all! I love your new blog page design. Our church just did a presentation on Compassion Int'l, and I was moved to action when I saw it again on your site. Thank you for your hearts-I'm so encouraged by LPM!
Love, Angela H
Anonymouse, I know how you feel about driving around the big city. I lived in Houston for 6 years and never got over it. I don't have fond memories of living in Houston. Maybe if I get caught up on the memory verses and I'm able to go to Houston in January it will change that feeling. I think I will just bring my husband and let him do the driving. :) Hope to see you all there.
Amanda,
I have posted each time, but last time I couldn't find my post..there are so many that I may have missed it, but I want to make sure I "qualify" for the Siesta event! :)
Thanks!

I am planning to come to Houston but will need the help you are planning for us Amanda. I live in Alberta, Canada and have never been to Texas so I won't have any idea of where to stay or how to get where I need to go:) I am so looking forward to meeting you all and visiting Texas!

Welcome back from holidays Amanda. The memory verse event will be my first holiday alone (Mommy only time) in a decade and I can't wait. The other day I was counting the points/rewards on my credit card to cash in for the ticket, so as soon as the details are up, I'll book my flight. Hooray.
I take my spiral on my morning walk, the verses are finally starting to stick in my brain. It almost always takes me the full 15 days for any sort of real retention. It is taking some real brain training and prayer for me to have any hope of completing the year. Worthy hard work.
The Journey Continues ~
Can we do a Siesta's Scripture Simulcast for US that are un able to attend?
It is my son's birthday and also will have family at our place that weekend!!! I am so bummed that I won't be able to give my Siesta's a HUG and meet them face to face!!! :)
Or what about this, Can we have a facebook like blog for the Siesta Scripture Weekend!?
Amanda, How was your vacation?
Photos please!!
Melissa, More stories from India.
Beth, WE would like photos from your NDOP too!!
With "Heaven Bound" blessings,

Thank you for "issuing" this challenge. The first verse(s) I memorized in January were Tit. 2:11,12. I didn't realize (when I memorized them) how these verses would come into play in the Bible study I would be leading in April (the Daniel study). The first half of Daniel is about living with integrity in today's world. These verses (from Titus) encourage us "to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age." You can insert the descriptive word "Babylonian" before the word "age" and have it fit perfectly!
My heart will so be with you in January- I probably cannot come as I have major surgery tentatively booked for Janurary so I can take the long winter months up here to recover -I,ll be ready for lpl summer events like the summer similcasts or hopefully a live one again in Detroit, just across the border from us. I have so been blessed with the memory course and thru the verses He specifically has chosen for me, He has enabled me to minister to others and pray them over them also. What a treasure we have in the Word.!
Kathy from Canada
I can't wait to meet all the Siestas who will be meeting together there in Houston in January! There may be some of us who would like to share hotel expenses with another siesta....someone we haven't even met. Any chance of organizing something along those lines? Anyone out there wanting to cut expenses besides me???? Just a thought.
Regarding the memory work...I'm absolutely amazed at how well the verses are coming back to me as I speak them aloud and keep reviewing them over and over. This ole brain of mine seems to be doing okay thus far.....imagine that!!
Blessings to everyone!

I am going to make every effort to go!! So exciting!
I agree with Anonymous Siesta. I struggle with quiet, uninterrupted time but that's getting better since my 6 & 3 year olds don't rely on me as much anymore. But, still being a "new" believer (it's been hard getting bible time before now!!) I struggle with meditating on the verse ~ really reading & understanding it the way God wants me to. I imagine we all take away different meanings ~ three of us could look at the same verse and God is probably speaking to each of us in three different ways.
I pray for that "on fire" understanding of the word and that means I have to keep plugging at it everyday. Deep down I know I'm heading in the right direction. But I am curious to know how my more experienced Siesta's spend their time!
Thanks for the update. Welcome back Amanda!!! I can't wait to see the Disney pics!!! I have loved this Scripture Memory time - I have looked differently at some of the verses I have known all along, but have started pulling them apart for context meaning and understanding (Need it) I am amazed that I can still memorize - (eventhough I don't remember where I put my glasses!!!)
We are glad to have you back - but loved hearing from Melissa and traveling to India through her eyes and heart!
I am so excited to finally become an active and not silent siesta! I have read these posts from the beginning and been so incredibly blessed! I have memorized my verses with this post decided I did not want to miss out in Jan. So, this computer challenged siesta figured out how to post. woo hoo!
I'm in, oh please I'm in :) It's not too late is it? I started with this last week and am already having a ball. I will go back and add the scriptures to my book just to have them, but I have lots of my own too. Yeah this is so fun.
Lisa, Mckinney, TX
OK girls - I just have one question...I use my iPhone for my memory verses. Do I need to go out & get a notebook?
Oh and another thought, since money is tight these days - what do the Houston girls think about offering to host an out of towner in their homes instead of having them shell out for hotels? I'll have to talk it over with my room mate, but i could probably host a Siesta or two at my place.
Hello,
I have been memorizing scriptures each month even though I am not signed up. I have one question - I am able to memorize & remember the scriptures fairly easily, but for the life of me I can't remember most of the references. Does anyone have any tips???
Thanks,
Penny G
Disney World....I hope you have pictures of the prince and princess to share with blog-world!! I'm sure you have pictures of the prince having a very good time! AND I bet there is a picture of the princess grinning from ear to ear!
Sweet Amanda,
Glad you were able to get away and enjoy Mickey and friends.
As for January, I have a siesta friend who is willing. We both need to leave our little ones with our hubbies and save $$ to go. Not sure which is harder?
Oh, how great it would be to spend time with you all.
Pray that we can swing it. (I'm back working full-time, which is a blessing with bruises.) I know I don't need to explain since you also work with two little ones.
Love you in Christ,
Susan

I second the request for some direction on what others quite time consists of!!!! I wouldn’t consider myself a new believer but that is always something I have always thought would be interesting to discuss with a bunch of ladies, as to what they do!!!
I really wish I could join everyone for the Siesta Scripture party!! That would be SO fun!!!
Can’t wait to hear more about your Disney trip Amanda!!
I would also like to hear your input Beth on your quite time.

DISNEY WORLD!! MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!! My husband and I don’t have kids but we LOVE Disney, we go every year…this is the first year in 5 years we aren’t going and I am really pouting about it!!! LOL!! Can’t wait to hear more and see some pictures!! I hope your family had fun Amanda and that the crowds weren’t too bad!! We usually go in September and there is virtually no waits!!! Anyways!!! I would also concur with anonymous about insight on what others quite time consists of!!
Blessings!
Glad you had a good time, especially since you probably had to take turns riding some of the attractions because of the kids. Loved the posts while you were gone, they (your mom and Melissa) did very well. Looking forward to hearing from you soon-

Ginger from Alabama, I too would like to share expenses as I am flying from Alberta, Canada. Maybe there are other Siestas here in Alberta and we could go on the same flight and stay together when we arrive. Doesn't need to be someone from AB, I'd love to meet and share with any of you. I'm saving my pennies now!!

I got up this morning thinking today was scripture day. I dropped my daughter off at school, came home, and got down to business looking up my scripture. Well, then I realized I was a day early...so by the time I post my scripture tomorrow, it will be memorized. LOL! LOL!

BTW, THANK YOU for doing this, can you believe I have actually rememebered the scriptures, how exciting!!

oh Amamda
I thought I could pick my own verses so I am not up on the one's your mom picked at times.... What do I do??
Debra, you can either pick your own or do Beth's. You don't need to do both. If anyone has any other questions, just shoot me an email at blog@lproof.org. Thanks! Have a great day!
Thanks so much for the facts... it helps, and the ones on the current scripture memory.
I would so love to go. I have told God my desire, but have to leave it in His hands. I have no money for a flight/hotel or even the gas money to drive and sleep in my car! My husband isn't keen on it as I am going to the P31 "she speaks" conference this summer. I pray that if God wants me there, that somehow He will open up the door.
Either way, if I can't be there, I will be there in my heart and spirit... and I am going to keep up with the scripture memory either way. God has been teaching me so much, and preparing my heart for sharing my testimony and my teaching talk at the conference this summer. Who knows what else He will do.
Thank you for this learning and growing experience through the scripture memory and the encouragement to share our testimonies... our stories with others... to never forget where God has taken us.
God bless,
Heather

Could ya'll please do a reminder about the rudeness of saving seats at these events? I have seen all sorts of comments on blogs, twitter, facebook, etc about "please save us a row, just throw a purse in a chair for me, etc." My sister and I stood in line forever for one of your events and got to the front to find that > 3 rows had been "saved." These women are Godly women, but seem to lose their godliness the minute they are confronted with opportunity.
'Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them." Very interesting in that I was just remembering a sweet story I wanted to tell my grandsons. About how the Lord used a friend and I to find a blind, deaf, shivering little puppy one morning on our walk out in the COLD Montana morning. His owner had prayed and prayed that someone would find him, and listed him as lost in the newspaper. That's how we found him for the owner and answered were an answer to her prayer.
Hey guys! I am just wondering if someone can tell me which week I am missing (?) I thought I had all 10, but I must've missed one along the way. Is that possible to do? There are just so many posts in each one that I can't find mine, Lol.
Thanks a million....blessings in advance. Natasha

I've been on a trip and am a day behind.
I posted my Memory verse this morning it's called " a day late and a dollar short" old family saying but I got it in.
Anyway I was reading the comments and verses and caught several about their Quiet Time. I will soon be 62 yrs. young and have been a Christian since I was 12.
I have had all kinds of devotions from books to just being on my own.
For a new Christian I think to get the hang of what God wants you to do and what He wants you to hear go slow, it might only be for 10 min. and then become longer as you find yourself listening and getting closer to the Lord. One year I started in Ps. and whatever day it was that was the Psalms that I read when the month ran out and I still had so many more to read I just tried to fix them to the date . I read through the Psalms so many times that I now will put the month and date to get to the Psalms I want. I also did a Psalms for the date of the birth of my children and grandchildren and as they got older I would share that with them.
I also found that when I put "me" into a Ps. it made it much more personal like Ps.20:4 May He give you(me) what your(my) heart desires. This would really help me .
I don't hold anyone down to a specific time of day some people are morning and others are night and then there are those who fall in-between, it should be when you can find a quiet time to be alone with God.Alot of times the time depended on where my walk was with God at that time of my life.
Make it simple for that is all that God wants from you just to talk to Him but also to listen to what He is saying to you.
I don't know if this will help but maybe some of this rambling will help someone.

I'm late but I'm in! Just this morning I decided I needed to find a way...some type of study or something...to help me dig into Scripture and let it get rooted deep into my mind and heart. Shortly after that decision...I found out about the Scripture Memory Team. What a great team to be a part of!!

Dear Beth...
Finally back on your blog...and learned of your SCRIPTURE MEMORY group and I am so excited to take part. Just had my 2nd chemotherapy treatment for my Stage 4 metastic lung cancer... which has travelled to my lymph glands in my back, liver and the bones in my neck. Praying like crazy, and have a wonderful prayer team...but memorizing scripture faithfully is JUST what I need more than ever right now...so count me in!
(Even though I am starting halfway through the year, I know I can still do this and am excited to do it!)
Thank you!
In Christ!

I am so bummed that I'm just now learning about the Scripture Memory Team. This is something that I would LOVE to be a part of- do you think you will do it again for 2010?
Also, I'm new to this blog-thing, so forgive me if I've posted this question in the wrong place....and I sure hope someone finds it, if I have....*giggling*
I am wondering if this will be started again for 2010? I found this late in the game and would love to do something like this this year. Please let me know. thanks!
Yes, I also want to know, are we doing this in 2010? I will do it myself but I want to share my verse. It's become a habit, you know!
Blessings to ya'all this new year!
I am so happy that I have found this blog. I have done Beth Moore bible studies on my own for over 12 years always looking for the newest one and last tuesday for the first time I am doing Living Beyond Yourself with a group at a church. That is where I found out about this blog. I would like to join the verse memorizing team for 2010! What should I do? Blessed year 2010 to everyone! Can't wait to go to the conference in March!

I too am wondering if we are doing the scripture memory as a "community" again for 2010. I intend to continue for myself as it was such a blessing for me but I never saw the 1/1 verse by Beth and nothing so far for today. Thank you in advance!

Seriously, is this event REALLY OVER? No, stinkin' way. I cannot believe it. Thank you to everyone the LPM team for putting it on and treating us so very, very well. I was tickled that you chose Psalm 119 to study this weekend. I wrote in one of my journals sometime in the last year that I really wanted to study the entirety of Psalm 119 because it seemed so rich. Rich indeed, rich indeed. The pen I used this weekend had part of Psalm 119:11 inscribed on it - I made it for myself about 1 1/2 yrs ago before the scripture memory event began. Interesting, hmmm.....
Love all of you so much. Sooooo cool to meet so many siestas from ALLLLLL over the U.S. Very cool.
