Friday in New Orleans

Rich sent me these pictures from New Orleans tonight. Melissa has been gently encouraging Mom to carry a camera for the benefit of the blog. When Rich saw Mom pull out her rinky dink camera at lunch to capture all the fun, he intervened. Thanks, Rich!

Here are my Uncle Tony, Mom, Aunt Cherie, and cousin Carleigh. Some of you prayed for my cousin Carleigh when she was born premature. She is obviously doing great now!

Upon arrival, they headed straight to Brennan's for lunch.

And bananas foster for dessert, of course.

A glimpse of the Friday night session.

Still wide awake from the excitement of tonight's event - running the teaching through my head, and heart. :-) It was a very timely message for me and I thank the Lord for that.

Good job Mama Beth.

Also loving the scripture memory challenge of 2009 and looking forward to January 2010.

Thank you for ministering to my city. I love New Orleans and love you too.

Honestly, Beth, can you get any cuter??? I'm turning 40 next week so looking good is really on my mind right now. I know there is nothing spiritual about this comment but I couldn't resist. I saw how cute you look even when you are having dinner with Big Mama or Boo Mama - can't remember whose blog I read where you were holding up a tortilla. If I could look that darlin' with a huge tortilla as my photo buddy than sign me up!!! Thanks for sharing your heart and your love for Jesus!!! I'm praying for the weekend and praise God for the 50!!!!

My mom is there! I'm jealous! Of course she had to call and hold the phone up so I could hear some of the singing! All I could really hear was a bunch of garble (is that a word?) but I have been to a BUNCH of LPL events so I knew what that noise really was! Thousands of siestas gettin' their praise on!! Woo!

Oh I love Brennans! Did they have turtle soup?

The last time I was there with a group of people we all ordered turtle soup. It was so delicious.

One gal asked, "Why's it called turtle soup? There's no chocolate or caramel or nuts!"

"Because it's turtle soup," was the answer.

Her spoon hit that bowl so fast as she dropped it from her mouth, completely horrified!

Sometimes things really are what they're advertised to be.

What beautiful pictures! I was in New Orleans last week for a fortieth birthday surprise. found out along the way that Beth would be there soon! Looks like an amazing time. Wish I was there!

As I walked down Bourbon street with my husband last week, I couldn't help wondering how many of the young women hanging out of door frames your mother would try to win over to Jesus! It made me want to preach!

But I'm not quite as brave as all that.

Just a little note to say my little Bible study group finished up our Esther study yesterday morning, and last night had a makeshift Purim feast to celebrate. I posted some pictures on my blog: lamb kabobs, latkes, and the Haman's ear cookies from the Bible study book!

what a blessing these past ten weeks have been. Just wanted to say thank you.

Can't wait for today's pics. Beth, got to tell you this. On our way home to Mobile from the conference we stopped for lunch. And of course before getting back on the road, I made a pit stop in the ladies room ... did not use my cell phone :) but did do some eavesdropping. And the talk was about the conference and how awesome it was, particularly for one siesta. It was her first conference ever! Another Siesta was saying her Sunday School Class is doing one of your Bible Study's and with the DVD she said it is almost like you are there with them. The 'ladies room' consensus was that God has given us a treasured and blessed gift in you dear Beth!
It's good to be home again tonight but the time together went much too quickly. I'll be sharing those 7 points with my man and a slew of Siestas that did not make it this trip. And yes I agree with other comments here - Great hair! And you get more beautiful every time I see you. 'See' you Wednesday in Satsuma, Alabama for Esther week 8. Love you so much, Beth.

Thank you so much everyone for your prayers for your sisters at NO's LPL and thank you so much Beth for speaking the truth in love to us. I just wanted the siestas to know (your accountability is the closest I have right now and so far it's helped me with the scripture memory) that this weekend God made very clear a specific calling on my life that I have been terrified to accept and actually complete. It will require complete vulnerability and exposure of my deepest shames and dearest dreams. But I'm not going to keep withholding my gifts from the body and I'm clinging to Phil. 1:6. Thank you dear Author and Perfecter of my faith for exposing yourself so tangibly to me this weekend!

So thrilled for the LPM Live Event in NO. Last year at this time the LORD sent us for the first trip ever to NO for prayer-walking and ministering to beleaguered saints and needy people there. What an eye opening experience was ours. Living in beautiful Southern California we are far removed from the chaos that still exists in NO. We wept over the people living in tent cities under the freeways, and the horrendous drug culture as we were on the streets in the notorious Orleans parish. Still bright spots of faith popped up, and God gave vision for the future, as so many cried out "Pray for our people to have a heart to work!"

My prayers are with you precious Beth and LPM as you reach out to so many spiritual needs in New Orleans. Great pic's...we had lunch at Brennans too, while in NO, but not bananas foster! Can you believe my man ordered a hamburger there? It blew my mind! I had a fancy schmansy salad, beautiful with goat cheese, raspberries, spicy nuts, and yummy croissant rolls. I remember, we were dressed in jeans and husband had on a tropical shirt. I asked the Maitre 'd, "Are you sure we are dressed appropriately for this lovely place?" He assured me we were, still I felt a little out of joint. Ah....memories....

Prayers are with all who have attended and been blessed too by our Siesta Scholarship Fund. To God be the glory!
Lovingly in Him,
Pam H.

love the pictures!!!! please come to birmingham or tuscaloosa soon! :) i know a girl - not well, but my husband and i were headed to a party last fall and i had prayed "Lord let me talk to some believers tonight -- some who really love you." well, not long into the party i started talking to this girl. she was raised in a traditional church - either Catholic or Episcapal (sp?) and she said she had just been to a Beth Moore Conference. She said at the beginning it was a little strange to see everyone raising their hands to the Lord in praise, but by the end she couldn't keep herself from doing the same! I think this was in Nashville. Anyway, what an answer to prayer for me and how great is the praise and worship of Jesus!!!!!! have a great sunday!

love in Christ,
Kimberly, Alabama

"The City That Care Forgot" just got visited with Living Hope. This so stirs me cause it's where I was born and lived and wrestled with a horrific life as a kid. It's who I am today because of it. Just love love love the idea that there were so many from New Orleans (noo awlins) in that picture being able to touch the hem. May Truth sink deep in their hearts. Psalm 51:6

New Orleans was a total BLAST!!! I have always loved the soul shaking feeling of God's presence and the goose bumps I have at these events. There is nothing like rocking with the praise team with 6,000 women, hands raised, loving the Lord. I could not believe Beth quoted three of my seven memory verses. I had just chosen James 5:16 last Wednesday. I knew then that God had something in store for me. I left the Arena feeling refreshed and renewed. Me and my girlfriends are looking forward to the Memphis Event. Thanks for a great weekend.

My dear Siestas, Could I ask for a favor? Could I ask for your prayers for my husband and I? I won't going into long detail but we have been married for 12 years, very rocky. We've separated twice (good reasons! I assure you..) and I need help! Jason is so so angry at God, and me.. as far as I can tell he is not repentant for what happened. I have forgiven him and that has been huge for me. I pray that this week will culminate into something miraculous because on Easter I will become a member at my church and he "said" he will go on that one day. He has stopped going to church some time ago. Sorry for the long post, but it feels as if my prayers are bouncing off a wall.. Thank you. Karen My blog is really bare, too because I deleted numerous posts because my sadness was so strong in it..

Oh Beth, I had the most wonderful time there. God so spoke to me through you. Saturday was the most emotional day for me - halfway through your message, I began to weep and couldn't stop until the end. Seeing the women go forward just made me thankful and emotional. All that you said touched me and my girlfriends so much - we talked the whole ride home. It is all still so fresh - and this morning in my prayer time, I read over all my notes I took, and prayed about them. I so want to be changed by God.

I want to be WHOLLY His so He can make me HOLY.

Thank you - I just simply love you!

What a blessing to be there this past weekend. Several "words" just for me are still working through the nooks and crannies of my heart. Thank you for loving women and pointing us to God.

WOW! WOW! WOW! Two of my girlfriends and I drove from SC Wednesday afternoon to NOLA to come to LPL. We stayed with my aunt who has turned her home into a mission house of sorts for short term groups who come rebuild and/or minister to the city.

We drove back to SC immediately after the Saturday session (well, we did have to stop and have one last shrimp poboy...) and got in around 1:00AM Eastern time. It was a LONG drive, a short trip, and totally worth it! (CONFESSION OF WILLFUL SIN: I wore my LPL wristband to church this morning to make my friends jealous - tee-hee!)

God spoke to each of us in such a powerful way through Beth's message (I'm STILL wrestling with it - thank you), Travis and the Praise Team's music (can I just say I love it when I hear a person/group sing and it sounds just like the CD? I mean, seriously? Is there anything more annoying than your favorite song being performed live and it sounds NOTHING like what you've sung along with in your car?) and the trips we took through Lakeview, Mid-City, Uptown, etc. to take in the devestation and the rebirth of such an amazing city. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible! It was phenomenal!

God is taking back the city of New Orleans, y'all! Christ followers are flooding into the area to rebuild, to minister and to love on His children. He is making His name known in a mighty and powerful way! What a privilege to take it all in - to see His Hands in action. Keep praying for the Gulf Coast. Even though it's not a headline in the news anymore, that doesn't mean the work is finished!

Does anyone know where I can get a CD or buy an mp3 of Travis and the praise team singing that version of "Victory in Jesus"?? One of the workers told me you could get it on the LPM ministries website, but I don't see it. I loved the way they rocked it out! I haven't been able to find anything similar. I know my 3 year old would love it. Maybe it will be on Travis' new cd??
Thanks! :)

Beth,
Was this the same brother that was with you in Lexington, KY in 2004? I remember you having a brother and sister-in-law with you and they had a little girl with them. She was just a baby then.

Hope you had a marvelous and blessed time! After doing hurricane Katrina relief we LOVE New Orleans as well!!

This to Karen

Read Dr. Dobson's "Love Must Be Tough"

I have been happily married 12 years, unfortunately I have been married for 32!

However, God has been more than faithful. He answers prayer. In His time. My husband reached a crisis point and turned his life back to the Lord.

He now attends church and we pray each morning before he goes to work. He even participates in a driving ministry at our church.

I continue to be stunned at the favor and mercy God has shown us.

He is deserving of all honor and praise.

"God can make a way when there seems to be no way." that song never fails to bring tears of gratitude to my eyes.

My friend and I drove in from Gulf Breeze Florida to attend the New Orleans event and it was amazing! God sure does wonders through you girl! My ladies small group is on the middle of the Esther study at home and although I did not get touched on the head as others in the Esther videos had, I DID get to meet your sweet brother. On our way of of N.O. we went to the 10:30 service at Franklin Baptist Church. Of course we had nothing to wear but jeans and our Beth Moore conference t-shirts, but that did not matter to the magnificent folks at Franklin. We got there just before service was starting and it was jam packed. We were seated on the stage, IN the choir box! Can you just imagine!!?? Right across from us was your brother and his family so we were not completely out of place. It was phenomenal! We met him after services as well as the sweet, sweet pastor. What a wonderful way to start our journey home. Thank you for letting us know about such a spiritual place to worship!

Beth,
I just wanted to let you know that you are on my mind and in my prayers. I just read Psalms 61, 63 and 65 and just felt they were so for you tonight!

Especially these verses from The Message:

Psalm 65:1-2

"Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God,

And also obedience.

You hear the prayer in it all."

Thank you, Beth, for your obedience to our Lord. Well done, good and faithful servant.

I just felt like you needed to hear that tonight.
And here's a cyberhug, really tight. Praying for you, siesta...
