The Inheritance

What an exciting day! We start our new Bible study - The Inheritance - tonight at Houston's First Baptist Church. We would love for any of our Houston Siestas to join us. And needless to say, we covet your prayers as we kick off a new semester of Bible study. Please pray for God's presence to be with us, for Beth to be anointed to teach, for the praise team to lead us before the throne, for our LPM staff and volunteers to serve in excellence and love, for our prayer team to be filled with the Spirit, for our attendees to arrive safely and park easily, and for God to be glorified all semester long. Our Bible study coordinator's name is Jennifer Hamm in case you'd like to lift her up by name.

Those of you who attended the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio might be interested to know that that weekend was the springboard for this semester's study. Beth really wanted to expound on the theme of inheritance in Scripture. I know I'm going to be asked what kind of product might come out of this study and right now my only answer is that I have no idea! I'm confident that God will have His way though.

Here's some info for anyone who would like to join us tonight.

Reminders about Bible Study...

-Homework is not available for this study.
-Please try to carpool in order to free up more parking spots for our sisters arriving late.
-Avoid traffic by coming early to eat dinner at the Garden Café on-site. The café opens at 4:45pm and serves everything from a boxed dinner, soup, or salad to a hot plate.
-Doors to the Worship Center open at 6 p.m. You may save two seats!
-The resource table is available in the main foyer before and after Bible study. Specialty coffee drinks are also available in the main foyer.
-Need to miss a week of Bible study? The previous week’s lesson is available to view in the chapel at 5 p.m. each Tuesday.
-Click here for directions to Houston’s First Baptist Church and additional approved parking locations near the church. The on-site lots typically fill by 6:15pm. Plan to park at one of these garages if you are arriving after this time.

See you soon!

PS: Jennifer Hamm, I planned a simulcast for Beth last year and I will just say you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you bring this to so many women.

And as for Beth and crew, ya'll are always in my prayers - even more so now.

Many blessings on all the siestas beginning study together tonight! How I wish I could join y'all sometime and experience the fragrance of Jesus being poured out among you.

Yet, I am thrilled to have just finished the introductory session of Esther, and I AM PUMPED!!! It was fabulous.

So, until my husband sees the need to uproot us from where we live right now and establish us as residents of Houston, I will try to content myself with interaction via DVD. What a joy it is to hear the Lord's voice speaking through Beth. My heart is full today!!

Thanks for all y'all do!

If "homework is not available for this study", does that mean there's not a book to go along with the class? I've tried to call the Living Proof office and cant get an answer. Looking forward to this study. Thanks so much for all you do.

I just wanted to encourage and say thank you to everyone who made the Esther study possible. (you too siestas for the survey responses!) We had our first gathering last night and 91 women were there, the largest group our church has had. And the best part- several women there have never done a Bible study before!! Praise God! He's going to do something amazing. Thank you Living Proof team for working so hard and for following Him in obedience!!!

I just gotta say... after seeing all the posts, I feel guilty that I've never attended a live bible study. I've lived in Houston for over 3 years now and I've always wanted to attend a live study at HFBC, but never have. I live over by Lake Houston in the Atascocita/Kingwood area and I don't know my way around that side of Houston very well. I think its about an hour in traffic from where I live, so I've never felt I could commit to facing the traffic on Tues nights. About the only time I head over to that side of town is when I can talk my husband into driving me to IKEA! Maybe someday... when the time is right, I'll just jump in and do it! I take great heart that I get to do her study's at my church and that this blog is here. I've never attended a live event, but I'm still sooo blessed by LPM!! Love ya guys!

I wish that I could come and I live in Houston. We had spoken through e-mail and with just moving here a few short months ago, my husband is a tad nervous to let me out on the freeways alone! With not knowing where I am going and the surroundings and with still nursing a baby and all. Oh how I wish there was a way, I am totally bummed. Was really looking forward to this. Maybe I could get him to drive me. Praying for the Bible study tonight even if I can't be there.

Beth - Amanda & Melissa: When I saw the title for this study I was immediately taken back to the Siesta Fiesta and our journey as heiresses. I have re-read my notes over and over.

I had an Heiress experience that revealed itself last week. My sweet man took me to Savannah back before Christmas for a few days and while waiting to eat at Paula Deen's Restaurant (oh y'all...so good), we walked across the street to a little jewelry store. (I love jewelry - IT ALWAYS FITS!!!)

I picked out a pretty sterling silver ring and he bought it for me. Remember the rings made from heirloom silverware, "spoon rings." Well - that's what it was - very simple and so elegant.

Last Sunday at church I was twisting the ring and took it off. I just happened to look inside and it said "HEIRESS." I squealed out loud - oh yes I did - and then whispered when I realized I was in church - and said "yes, I am an heiress, and my boundaries fall in pleasant places. - thank you Jesus. It was a God STOP for me.

Love y'all,
Georgia Jan

Okay, I just checked American...the only way out of Wichita Falls... $171 round trip. Every week for 10 weeks. I'll have to take half a day off to get there and won't get back until mid-morning on Wednesday. That uses all my vacation time. Maybe my guy won't mind if I miss taking the youth to camp with him just one year.
Hmmm...meals, rental car, hotel...A second mortgage maybe...I hear interest rates are really low right now.

Okay, I'm guessing that Disney World might be cheaper - which is by the way my preferred 'happy place', but no Mouse could compare to MY INHERITANCE!!!! If this is going to be anything like what we heard in San Antonio last summer...I'm blue now. VERY blue.

Sidenote: Not believing this...the word verification - "torphit" as in torpedo hit. VERY blue.

When I drove our boys to school this morning the thermometer read -13. And tonight the fire of the Holy Spirit will be blazing bright in TX, warming the depths of women's souls through our sweet Beth - live. That's it; we're moving to Houston.

Okay, maybe not. My naturally curly hair, usually ironed flat, would be in a complete tizzy once summer hit.

But I will be praying for all of you! And I will NOT complain; I am so blessed to learn from and fellowship with Beth and all the Siestas BECAUSE OF DVDs, simulcasts, and blogs. :)

"The Inheritance" brings the parable of the prodigal son to mind. Just thinking about the attitude, acceptance, ring, and celebration the Father waits to give us when we return to Him......even when we have squandered so much. What a loving Father! What an amazing God.

I am sorry that I cannot be there.......I know that it will be awesome!

I, too, would love to be present at one of the live Bible studies. But the videos are pretty close! Speaking of the videos, I can't get in with any of the groups near me doing Esther right now...any chance you're going to put them online for a fee like I hear you did with Believing God? That would rock!!! I'm thinking I might just do the book minus the videos for now... Thanks!

All - I started the tears when I read all the posts and prayers ---- love you Siestas! Believe me, I do not take it for granted that I can attend on Tuesday nights and I for one, so appreciate each of you. For so many years I could not go and once I started (because I lost my job mind you!!!!) I knew that it had to be a priority.

Peace and blessings Siestas - thank you for the prayers.

I SO wish we lived in Houston... It would almost be worth the bad hair days to be able to go to events like these!

I guess I'll just be content with my Stepping Up and frigid sub-zero weather here in Indy! :)

My grandma, mom, and I have attended a few of your Bible studies in Houston over the last few years. Yesterday, we found out about the new study that started tonight. I am 17 and have suffered from cluster "suicide" headaches for the last 12 weeks -- the last 6 weeks they have occurred every night without a break. We planned to call today to find out if it was possible to bring a portable oxygen tank to FBC, so even if I got sick, I could still be in attendance. Last night, for the first night in 6 weeks, I had no clusters whatsoever. I did not have any tonight either and was crazy excited and so overjoyed to be able to worship our God who heals surrounded by so many others who love Him.
Thanks to your ministry team especially, who said they would pray specifically for my family after they heard our request today. PRAISE BE TO GOD :)

I have asked my husband on more than one occasion if I could stay in a hotel in Houston for the duration of a study!! He said no!

I am so jealous. I would love to be there.

You are all in my prayers. I love you.

So funny, I was going to comment and whine about not living in Houston - but as I scanned the 50 before me - been there done that. I guess, in my pursuit of contentedness, I'll be signing up for Esther at my own church up here in the North winter wonderland.

You'll be in my prayers.
Blessings,

Ok Beth so we didn't think the "wild ride" would take quite the turn with Jesus takin the wheel quite like it did. As my sister (in Christ) and I drove home to Waco from the study, we were almost (and I mean feet) in a head on collision doing 75 mph with another car that swerved over halfway into our lane and caused us to veer way off into the shouldler. It was all in slow motion, and only God could have steered our car to safety with highway speeds and that car being so far in our lane. My sister then told me she'd been given a vision that we would get into a head on at that very same spot earlier in the night and had been praying over it. Good thing Jesus really did take the wheel and steer us to safety! It was a stomach turning evening, but we know it was Satan trying to stop us from going home and changing our worlds for Christ. Great things are OBVIOUSLY coming! Thanks for your honesty...NO it's NOT BORING when you decide to be in the will of God!!! We are blessed to be home safely!

Oh, my husband and I bought our first house in First Colony 24 years ago but first lived as newlyweds in an apartment off Westheimer and Post Oak. How I wish I could be there to attend!! Maybe I'll fly there one week from Atlanta just to attend. One of my best friends ironically named Beth still lives in Sugar Land; I'll visit her too. She is also an amazing teacher of God's word in First Colony. God bless your Bible study Beth!

My husband's company may move us to Houston in a couple of years and of couse my hair is mad because of the humidity but I am crazy excited because that might mean I can come to a live bible study.

I am believing LPM will be going strong in 3-4 years!

Well, it is Wed. morning as I read this post, so I've obviously missed being in prayer for the Houston study last night. However, I will pray for the remainder of the study and I will mention it tonight (if we don't get snowed out)at our women's Bible study here in Cincinnati.

By the way, I would ask for prayer from anyone who would be willing to give it that God would knock our socks off, blow our minds wide open, and reach in a grab ahold of our hearts as we kick off our Esther study tonight at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cincinnati. Additionally, we are doing the video one week, and the discussion the following week(our ladies REALLY like to talk and get engaged, so there isn't enough time otherwise), so this one is going to be going through the duration of our semester and there is no room for one missed Wed. night---and we have incliment weather in the forecast tonight of all nights!. Oh well, it is in HIS glorious, capable hands.

God Bless,
Mindy Banks

Beth, you rocked my world last night! I am so excited about being a part of this bible study.

I just know this will be my year!

Psalm 16:6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a BEAUTIFUL inheritance.

And here I was thinking that the best gift He gave me was His grace!

God Bless you Beth!

How exciting! A new study! Is this one Beth will be publishing through Lifeway?

I have a question - in light of the post after this one on the economy, I thought maybe us Siestas could help with some Bible study needs. Our ladies group at church really enjoys being able to do Beth's studies, but we've exhausted the dvd sets we own and don't have it in our budget to purchase any for a year!(We are a very small church) is there any way we could set up a system here where we could borrow sets from each other? Sort of an exclusive Beth Moore library..lol. I don't know if there are any legal problems with that or if it is possible at all. If anyone has any ideas if something like this would work, I'm fine with my email being posted!

Thanks!

Hey Amanda!

I was away all last week in the moutains with family and nearly went through blog withdrawals!! It feels good to be back in the "modern" world again, although there is definately something to be said for getting away from all our "modern" convieniences and simply enjoying the beauty of God's creation! There's something special about the mountains!!

I was one of the siesta's in SA and my mouth is just waterin' for the continuing taste of more on "The Inheritance"!! That was some mighty tasty stuff!!!

Love to you all,

I was at the San Antonio event, although I had just found the blog so I didn't consider myself a Siesta yet. I was so moved and intriged by Beth's teaching that I so hoped it would become a larger bible study. I wish it wasn't such a long commute down I-10 or I'd join y'all.
