You guys are stunning. I loved watching these come in and marveled over how God had said something so wonderfully different and distinct to all of us. Way to go! I'm closing this to comments now since Monday has run its course and we'll announce the random drawing later Tuesday. Thank you so much for participating!
Good morning, Siestas! It's pop quiz day! Did you spend time with God this morning in His Word? If so, please respond to this post by identifying yourself (first name, city) and writing out one of the verses from your prayer time (yes, all the way out so we can be built up in our souls by the sight of copious Scripture). Preferably the one that resonated most with you.

I actually worked on my lesson 10 Day 3 of Breaking Free; Glorifying God.I read of God's remembering His covenant with Abraham so He heard His people's cry for deliverance and sent Moses to bring them out. Only God could do this as only HE can bring about our true deliverance from captivity. I then reviewed my 2010 key memory verse: John 1:12 "But whoever did want Him, who believed He was who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true selves, their child of God selves." This is my daily prayer as God continues His daily work of deliverance in my life. My prayers are with you today Beth, and all LPM for wholeness, wisdom, and beauty out-poured in your ministry.

As I read & prayed my way through the 22nd chapter of Proverbs this morning, these two verses caught my eye. For my 4 physical children and a multitude of spiritual children, I am praying 2 Timothy 2:22 NIV (Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.) this year. My heart was especially burdened for the lost and/or insecure souls I see in teenage and preteen girls. Being the mother of 3 teen boys (ages 16 to 18), I see girls do some crazy, demeaning, demoralizing things to try to get the attention of my boys. They don't realize how much their behavior has the opposite effect of what they intend. Sorry to ramble. Thanks for the gut check this morning. So thrilled to be able to have been in the Word before getting on-line. Love & Blessings!

In this passage, we learn how the great prophet, Jeremiah, had endured times of isolation and loneliness because of his devotion to the Lord. Those of us who have shunned invitations to participate in “questionable” social activities because of our commitment to God can really relate to Jeremiah's situation. Some of the things that many people consider harmless “fun” or “entertainment” can carry too high a price tag for the believer. Jesus said, "Let me tell you why you are here. You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.” (Matthew 5:13 MSG) God has called us to be salt and light to the world. That means that He expects us to stand out, not blend in. The more we blend in with the rest of the world, the less of an impact we will have on it.
In Jeremiah 15:19 (NLT), God gave His devoted prophet this stern warning, “You must influence them; do not let them influence you!” If God had to give someone like Jeremiah this admonition, how much more does it apply to us? In First Timothy 4:16 (TLB), Paul writes, “Keep a close watch on all you do and think. Stay true to what is right and God will bless you and use you to help others.” How badly do you want to be an effective witness to those around you? Do you have a burning desire to see others receive God's gift of salvation? Then you're going to have to make some serious personal sacrifices, even where your social life is concerned. You're going to have to be more discerning about your social activities, as well as the company you keep.
Our first obligation is to God, not to our friends or family. It's not uncommon for Satan to try to use even our closest loved ones to tempt us to go places and do things that we know are not God's best for us. And since offering us invitations that don't interest us aren't much of a temptation, the enemy is going to present us with opportunities that seem too good to turn down. “Ungodly” invitations can come in many forms. Movies, concerts, and parties are just a few examples. God wants us to be so sensitive to the leading of His Spirit that we will seek His wisdom and guidance when we make our social plans.
Whenever you're confronted with an invitation that you don't have peace about, don't give your consent. Then let the Lord handle the consequences of your refusal. God promised Jeremiah that as a result of his devotion, He would make the prophet His spokesman. (Jeremiah 15:19) Jeremiah was faithful, and God kept His promise. If you have a desire to be an instrument of God's power and grace, start saying “no” to some of the invitations that come your way. And know that when you do, you are opening the door for our great God to use you in awesome ways for His glory!
Lord, whenever I receive invitations of any kind, I ask that You remind me to seek Your approval before I accept. Don't let me forget that my first obligation is to You. Help me to be salt and light to this world so that I can influence others for good, instead of allowing others to influence me in negative ways. Thank You that as I am faithful, You will use me to be a world-changer for Your glory!

I have been in Acts chapter 19 this morning. The part that struck me was the beginning where the men were diciples of John the Baptist, not believers of Jesus yet. Even though it is not quite the same, it made me think that today there are many people following something and thinking they are following Christ. It is my prayer and fervent desire that we will all know the truth. Act 19:1-7 And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. After two years of guided studies, most by you, dear Beth, I decided this year it was time to dig into scriptures on my own. I have learned valuable lessons and have many scriptures circled that you have led me to and I read with tears in my eyes. This was one of those scriptures. I believe it was from Breaking Free and I was struggling with fear of the future. Fear of raising two boys in the world. That was why I circled it then. Today when I read it, it struck me that if I keep LOVING others because God first loved me, in that love, I might gain boldness when I go before His throne of judgment. I am not bold. Well, what a great surprise to find this post after such a wonderful time with Jesus this morning. My time was spent focusing on God's will today. Understanding that Jesus' ultimate goal was to do the Father's will. This is refreshing to me b/c I needed a fresh dose of inspiration to do the same.
Part of my time was in Isaiah 30. The verse that stuck out?

I read a story from it to her this morning. So in a sense I was in the Word with her today. We read about "the sneaky serpent." I was reminded of the importance of obeying god and I was able to tell my daughter about that too. Thanks Beth for your impact on my life and my daughter's life.

I did spend time in the word of God this morning. And though I was NOT looking for this verse it found me (I personally do not like suffering or perseverance I like coffee and cupcakes!)
