Some Great News and a Few Random Catch-ups

Hey, You Darling Siestas!

I only have just a few minutes because...
a) I don't have much battery left on my laptop
b) American Idol just came on. For all you American-Idol-haters, I'm not saying I'm watching it. I'm just saying it's on. And it's top 12 night.

BUT, I had to hop on the blog because I have the greatest news. You're going to need to sit down for this. Last night we got a whopping $10,000 donation from a Siesta for the Siesta Scholarship Fund!!!! I first wrote "Fun" instead of "Fund." GIRLFRIEND, LET SOME BIG GIVING BEGIN! THAT'S WHAT I CALL FUN! The way I see it, based on what we now have in our fund (roughly 13,000 after subtracting our giving for ministers' wives' event), even if we don't get another dime, LPM can give away a thousand dollars of materials/tickets a month for the next year. I am so pumped I can hardly sit to type. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm going to get to give away some tickets to our New Orleans LPL to some folks who have been financially devastated ever since Katrina. I am beside myself. I am humbled beyond expression to be part of this giving campaign with you. May God bring forth a 100-fold harvest in the life of each recipient and bless each of you beyond belief.

We also celebrated Mister Jackson Curtis Jones's THIRD BIRTHDAY this week! His actual birthday was yesterday but we had a small family party with four generations of Moore blood Monday evening. We missed Curtis's family so much. Keith and I love his parents. We'd be such good friends if we lived in the same city. Same weird sense of humor. For Jackson's birthday dinner, AJ requested her daddy's famous deep-fried fish, the best home-made tartar sauce in the Lone Star State, corn on the cob, steak fries and home-made macaroni and cheese. (It's a bird! It's a plane! It's SUPPER-MAN!) It was fantastic. We then put the boy out of his misery and let him open a den-floor full of presents. After we'd made big over his gifts, we pulled out the Thomas the Train ice-cream cake, put on our Thomas the Train birthday hats, lit the big-three candle, and sang like there was no tomorrow. Jackson loved being the center of attention. It was like he'd had some practice.

Honestly, Sisters, that child has been the biggest, most enthusiastic blast we've just about ever had grace this family. We are all hopelessly smitten with him. And as for his darling baby sister, she nearly slept through the whole thing - looking like the cutest pink doll you've ever seen - so she could keep her Daddy up till 3:00 AM. They do late nights together. But not usually that late. Annabeth is a really sweet baby. She doesn't cry much when she's awake. She just wants to keep some folks company. Bibby wishes it were her some nights.

And, shoot-fire before my laptop dies, I love my Tuesday night Bible study group so much! God has blown my mind with the breadth of this inheritance theme. Honestly, it could have been an eight-week study complete with homework. (Not gonna be for now but coulda been) I never would have guessed it in a million years but the subject just got bigger and bigger. God has taught me so much. Pray for me to have ears to hear and eyes to see and the anointing to teach comprehensively what God, in His great mercy, is showing to me. We only have three classes left this Spring. I hate for Bible study to be over!

Well, Keith and I decided to have our own random suppers tonight so he had 2 chicken pot pies and I'm having scallop potatoes and my timer's about to go off. (Yes, that's all I'm having for the whole meal. I am the weirdest eater on earth. I have this really simple recipe I've loved for years from a church cookbook . I can make the dish with skim milk and 2% cheddar cheese and it's great comfort food. I add milk to it afterwards and make it into kind of a potato soup. And eat two big bowls.)

And now Star is dropping the tennis ball at my feet. Let me pitch it down the stairs long enough to finish this post.

Lord have mercy. Why do y'all put up with me? This is so random. Terrible writing. No time to edit. But I love you. And I just wanted to say hi. And that all of you are in my top 12.

I sacrificed my hair for the Thomas hat.

Here's another random comment but just came to me...do you want to just praise God for who he is? Like set up a random time and with no agenda on our parts but to praise Him...maybe we could set a time, set your cell phone alarm ringer when it goes off, it will be a reminder to just spend 5 minutes thanking and praising Him without any agenda...

I just feel as if we've had a long visit and I am the better for it!

Praise God for the generous Siesta giver - that is AMAZING and I know God put that plan in your heart as HE is working out everything!

I was blessed to baby-sit my grandboy the past 2 days as my sweet daughter-in-love was in the hospital very ill with pneumonia. She is much better and came home this afternoon, praise the Lord.

I was warned not to "over stimulate" him...(she knows me well)! :) He is only 6 months old for crying out loud, but boy did we have a BLAST - Gran Jan is going to be the FUN GRAN - I have purposed in my heart to bring that to fruition!!!

I love y'all so much.

And I love me some steak fries...

Dearest Mama Beth,

Just wanted to bless you for blessing me through Esther. We watched week 4 today at Bible study. You had us fill in our blanks about our fears in the "what if, then..." statement. You asked for God to speak a word over us. He did. He did. Praise You, Jesus, He did. You have taught me so much. You have made His Word come to life and taught me to ask Him to give me so much more than is on the page. He has been faithful. I have done all but two of your studies and each time I have known beyond a shadow of a doubt that He has led me to them. But there is just something about this study. Every DVD session He has talked directly to me. To me and my circumstances. It's as though He has whispered in your ear what I am going through and has addressed something SPECIFICALLY that I desperately need to hear. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making Jesus so attractive to so many of us who have found Him to be the biggest blast that you have said He is. I bless you for your faithfulness, your vulnerability, and for addressing topics that so need to be talked about. I love you!

I am loving the Esther study. God timed it for me in the season of trial I'm in. AND I watched Wednesday with Beth on Life Today, and God used you to speak into the situation I'm in now and to TRUST HIM!!! Thank you! In Jesus' Love Kathy Knoblock

Beth,

Thank you for your randomness. I am most certain that God speaks through random thoughts and ideas that float into our heads! Praise the Lord for the donations that have come in ... and if you are reading this post and are one of the people that have given .. THANK YOU! Beth, your teachings are so clearly Spirit inspired! God has worked through you to help me through many a personal struggle, including cancer. God even used the Patriarchs to bring me back to Himself. I had gone through the whole study with out feeling any connection at all. Many a time I thought I would simply quit. I has just feeling so distant from God. We had been so close during the walk ... I felt Him - and then it was over, I was well, He was, well not carrying me. I wondered where He had gone, and I felt like I had failed him. In the last minutes of the last session, you said something that seemed so RANDOM. You talked to those that had been to the mountain top with God. You said that after wards the empty feeling was them just missing God. My spirit simply broke. The guilt and sadness were replaced with a simple understanding ... I simply missed Him. And with this, I went home to Him.

So my dear siesta ... be random. You never know who God might be trying to reach, or what He wants to say to them.

May God's words be always rooted in your heart, and His love ever present in the very air you breathe!

Blessings,
Lisa

a) YOU are darling.

b) PRAISE YOU LORD for that sweet and generous siesta...what a blessing...thank you God for the hearts of all those who are able and have given.

c) OK. HOW DO you stay so TEENY. if i ate comfort food like that for dinner i believe my BEHIND would be enough comfort for multiple members of siestaville. i will gladly share the love for anyone who feels they are in need of some "extra comfort" back THERE. ;) and WHY is it that when we do make it on the treadmill, the areas we are NOT so blessed in are the first thing to go? bless, everything is backwards. uh, i am so hormonal. going to get chocolate. :)

d) this blog is such a blessing. i went to a wedding this weekend for one of my closest friends-a siesta that I MET ON THE BLOG. i then texted 3 siestas afterwards to tell them about the wedding. i MET THEM ALL ON THE BLOG as well. then on sunday i had dinner with a slightly older/mentor siesta who blesses me so, that i MET ON THE BLOG. and all of this was done with my roommate. WHO I MET ON THE BLOG. seriously? just two years, and 80% of the most important people in my life are from siestaville. a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

e) love you friends

I can never be remotely like you, but I am thrilled to have been inspired by you to follow hard after the Lord and feast on the riches of his Word. Talk about your Happy Meal! My favorite meal -- the meat of God's Word and a good cup of coffee (usually Starbucks) with Jesus before sunrise! I praise God that you followed the vision He laid on your heart to establish the Siesta Fund and rejoice with you in all that He is accomplishing because of your obedience. God bless you!

Beth - I just want to thank you for the blog and all that you do. Thank you in particular for your honesty in your Valentine's blog. It is so helpful to know that others struggle too - sometimes I struggle a lot! Also, the scripture memorization has really saved me (ha - pun noted!) recently- it gives me focus and keeps my mind from spinning off in a million different (unhealthy) directions when things (marriage specifically) has gotten tough. I've even slept with my bible next to me the last couple of nights!!

This is just such a PTL! How wonderful and glorious for one of our Siestas to be able to seed into the Siesta Scholarship fund this awesome amount which will enable more "hilarious giving". My prayers for each giver to be radiantly victorious for the ground is fertile and the soil is ready to take on new seeds of faith.

Loved the account of your Grandson's 3rd birthday. Thomas the train is the best! Tonight my "man" and I went to a restaurant right next to Knott's Berry Farm, known for their outrageous portions, and what do you know, we bought one dinner and split it and it was more than enough! We both felt pretty proud when we left "Claim Jumper" for under $20.00! Now that's a way to save some money to put in SSF!

I love your "random" thoughts! Always!
I have done 3 days of Esther lessons this evening. It is the most captivating thing I have done in forever. Then while I was washing dishes I listened to the last cassette tape of your "To Live is Christ" Bible study. I can't tell you how much that last session touched me. It ministered to me way down deep. I know this is going to sound shallow....but sometimes I get to thinking how you have just got it made! I mean, a nice home, great family, great talents of speaking and writing, traveling, great looks, etc. And to tell the truth, I get just a little envious! But then I get to thinking about how much time and energy and sweat and tears goes into your ministry. How much time you have to spend away from that great family and lovely home. How busy, busy you are. How many times you minister to us when you may be hurting so bad yourself. I just want to say that I don't know how you do it! And at the same time say I KNOW how you do it....the Lord does it through you! I'm not even sure you will remember what you talked about during that Session # 10 of the study on Paul but it truly opened my eyes to how you can have many personal issues going on and at the same time continue to minister to so many! God has truly blessed thousands of women through you. You probably don't even like to hear personal praise but tonight my heart was full and I just had to tell you how much I appreciate all you do and all you are!

Marilyn

Loving and thanking you for your servants heart and contagious enthusiasm for Jesus....as well as your all American "anything goes" for dinner! My kinda gal for sure.

Thank you Beth for serving and loving the way you do. We had session 4 of Esther today and Bible study was from 9 til 1 because we just had so much to say!
We love you so much. We love Jesus so very much.

Y'all have a great day with Jesus!

I have been waiting for just the right post to tell you how very awesome the Esther study is. I have done most of your studies but this one is touching me so much. Every week is something more amazing than the week before. During session 4 when you spoke of your greatest fear and everything you said I wrote down to share with my husband because that is his greatest fear as well. Then during session 5 I came in to the study with a very heavy heart and during the study sitting on the table behind you was a white hand statue that was doing a peace sign. Boy did that speak to me that day about having peace about some situations that only God can change. You are an amazing teacher and I thank you so much for being obedient to God.I thank your whole family for the willness to share their lives with us. Love Marcy

Praise the LORD! What great news about the giving to SSF. God is so faithful and just proves that over and over and over AGAIN! Praise Him! Love your random notes, you are so sweet to share with us all! I'm sitting here so excited (I can hardly type!), I will be going to the Minister's Wives Conference, and again, I can hardly contain myself!! My husband was assistant pastor for 10 years and has been senior pastor almost 11 years now and this is the very first time I've been to anything that is for a minister's wife. I'm thrilled! Can you tell? (lol) I appreciate your teaching ministry, God has certainly used you to communicate the truth in His Word. God bless you for that!

Ps totally relate with you on the grandbabies!! We have 2 (one of each) and another little princess due in June. Our hearts are just burstin' with love.

Thanks Beth for helping us make this connection that would otherwise be impossible.

What fun and joy! Amazing graces continue to bless your ministry. On another note, the anointing was so strong in that room last night. You had His words to speak healing and reclaim some long lost property for this daughter of the King. As you told of you and Melissa, I was sitting right there with you going through those scary times. It occurred to me the last time I was there (on the diagnostic side, not the routine side) what a ministry opportunity it was. Everyone there needed an encouraging word, so He reclaimed that property right then and there for me--and I spoke encouragement over the women who came and left, during those long hours. The last two weeks' lessons have pierced this heart with even more love for Him. I am so grateful to you to be His instrument of bestowing such love. You're in my prayers. Love, Annette

Hey Beth,
I absolutely agree about Inheritance. I lead an Esther group on Wednesdays up in Tomball and I am always sharing something from Tuesdays during our group time. I am encouraging them all to do it when it comes out on video. (I invited them to come on Tuesdays but their schedules don't work for that. I personally haven't missed a Tuesday since Believing God!) Isn't He just amazing! The Epiphany of the parable of the talents is just life changing for me! Praise Him for revealing that to us!

Bring on the randomness!! To me Randomness is the Realness...okay that sounds really crazy but sometimes I think the things we share in our random times show a bit of who we really and truly are. Its the random things that set us apart from others...the things that are going on in our lives that aren't that huge of a deal but make up a large part of our days. What we have for dinner may be a random thing to post about to the rest of the world but to you its vitally important!! Its every day realness...So every post of randomness from you or any of the Moore/Jones/Fitzpatrick clan is like an episode of the Moore/Jones/Fitzpatrick Reality Show...a personal favorite of mine.

I am so jazzed to hear about that great donation!! Yay for all those women who will be blessed from it!! God bless those who gave and those who will benefit from the giving!!

I have to agree with Miss AbbyLane...this blog has become so crutial to my life and in ways that I would never have imagined. I am the roommate that she was talking about meeting on the blog. I have met soo many dear women who have become such a part of my life that it just constantly overwhelms me!! And Ive only met most of the 1 time!!! A few I have met twice. Yet we chat on facebook and text all the time, sharing funnies or prayer requests and encouraging one another. I just love it. I can not begin to thank you for being willing to take time out of your life to share with us what all is going on in your world. Both in your work for the Lord and in your family life. I am constantly blessed by the posts on here. So many times what you blog about is exactly what I need to hear!! You never forget all the single ladies and that means so much.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I can't wait to see what happens next in the wonderful world of Siestaville...may God continue to bless you and this blog.

Love you and love to all my dear Siestas!!!

How exciting and praise God for the scholarship. I am so happy that so many will benefit. That's just awesome!

Thanks for sharing about Jackson's party (and making me starved right before bed). Now, I am going to have to go and find something to stuff my face with.

Jackson does look older now that he is a big brother and little Miss Annabeth has eyes as big as saucers! She is one alert baby. That's how my Adra always was (she kicked her covers off in the warmer) and man, she is still a force to be reckoned with.

I love names and I love knowing how they come about. Now I know where Beth came from, but I am curious about Anna and Ellen. I can't help it, I love stuff like that. We are so big on passing names down in our family. Our biggest girl name is Laura, followed by Grace, Mary, Alabama (Bam), Sarah and some other very unique southern names that I can't get into.

Did AJ just love the names or is Annabeth named after someone else in the family too? Or is Anna or Ellen your middle name? I am such a geek, but I love stuff like this. I get on line just to look up names. I love girl names, because there are so many beautiful ones. I love boy names too, but girl names are just easy.

Thomas the train brought back memories. My Michael is nine years-old now and I miss those days. However, with every year comes something else precious and he still swings those swords around and loves me to pieces. I miss the baby/toddler days, but we have a new connection now.

Beth, I am just so happy for all of you, that you get to spend so much time with your grandbabies. That is the way it should be and it is so good for everyone. It seems no one gets to live close to family anymore. I guess I am going to have the best of both worlds. My roots and beloved family are in West Virginia and our wings are in Texas. I plan to take my children back home often because I want them to always be familiar with my unique home state. I watched something about hillbillies hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus, "Romeo" double HA, expecting to see something duragatory and very untrue and it made me so homesick. Okay, now I am rambling and have no business typing right now. Thanks again for sharing!!!!! Got a little sad seeing those babies b/c mine are growing-up too fast, but it was a nice warm sad. On that note, God bless you and goodnight moon!

Beth, I have to post a few comments from one of my favorite funny books, "The Grits Guide to Life" by Deborah Ford and Edie Hand. Now, I am not promoting this book, by any stretch of the imagination. There are too many things in it that I seriously disagree with, like women are different, becasue deep down we are the same, no matter which side of the Mason-Dixon line we were reared on. But, after your pot pie story, I just had to put a couple of quotes about fixing dinner.

These are quotes from Sara Voorhies:

"This is my busy-day supper for Jack: I take everything from the left side of the refrigerator, combine it with everything from the right side of the refrigerator, sprinkle Fritos over the top and bake."

"I've been known to serve a seven-course meal when company comes...a six-pack of Dr Pepper and a Moon Pie."

"A lot of my friends like my recipe for Pullet Mazzerati. It's a chicken that's been run over by an Italian sports car." Page 144

Now, there's you some good ideas for cooking!!!

I am unapologetic for having a sense of humor. Once in a blue moon, I just have to pull this book off the shelf and read my favorite sections. I laugh until I cry, because some of it is so true.
However, I can't laugh about the Baptist jokes, etc. I just can't. I'm totally in love with Billy Graham and I loved his wife more. Plus, I go to a Baptist church. My brother likes to send me questionable B'Day cards and he always writes "I hope those Baptists didn't take away your sense of humor." He's under conviction for sure. I just tell him "No, actually, I've had more fun and laughed a true laugh more than I ever have being a Christian, the grass is definitely greener on this side of the fence."

There are a few good recipes though and sometimes I just need a really good, meaningless laugh. Maybe one day I'll chunk it, if I ever feel convicted about it.

I'll regret this post tomorrow b/c I am too tired to be posting. I am crazy enough to do it anyway. I might not post for a few days b/c I'll be embarrassed.

BTW, the Siesta Scripture Memory verse is so helping me. I find myself saying the versus in my head, not only for practice, but for help fighting off demons. I would have never done this if you had not ignited it. So, thank you again and again. My BFF Rachel and I are both loving it and we are holding each other accountable. We are on this like white on rice.

Love you Beth!!!! Keep the random posts coming!

Beth, your post is just full of good news tonight! Life can just be plain fun sometimes.

We are back in San Diego after our three month long winter "break" in Minnesota. It is so good to be back in the sunshine and warm weather! However, God taught me so much during my time in MN, I'm not complaining- I promise! Just enjoying the change.

I can't tell you how much better my hair looks already. It was so dry it didn't know what to do. I had a haircut appt. just about as soon as we got off the plane and it is so happy and bouncy again.

Only 40+ days until my hubby is back from Kuwait- I can't wait!

I also can't wait to hear all about how God is going to use the Siesta fund. Thanks for all your updates! Love, Rebekah

And I own the CDs to all the series I've done/am currently doing, so it's not like I can't go back and listen to them. I've done two so far, and gone through the listening to "Woman's Heart" twice, and I still cried during session 10. Speaking of random...

OK, I really, really need that tarter sauce recipe! The kind from Long John Silver's (you know, the restaurant) is the ONLY kind we like, but you can't buy it. And let me tell you, they give you really nasty looks when you ask for extra to take home. Plus those little packets aren't exactly convenient!

I know you are like me and so thankful of your man. Mine doesn't cook much, but he will work a full day, come home and wash dishes by hand and fold laundry! We are a homeschool family, so some days I fall a little behind on the housework. All I can say is, it's wonderful being married to your best friend!

Now about that tarter sauce recipe...

Praise God for the generosity of so many. His Word will flourish from it. To my siestas, I have a word of praise, sense we are being random. Last night my one year old, who moves very quickly, was under my feet without me knowing he was so close. I was cooking and hot oil spilled out. A drop hit two spots on his head. I was mortified and scared to death. Do you know, he didn't even cry. I wiped it off and there was not even a red spot. It was one of my worst fears and God protected him. That oil was hot, it burnt me, but did him no harm. Don't tell me that wasn't God. I just fell to my knees and cried and thanked Him. He protected that baby from burns. How I praise Him and Praise Him. He is so real!!

Praise Him for the unselfish and HOLY COW donation! So many people will be blessed by that.

Also, I agree with AbbyLane. I am one of the people she was texting! All because of the blog. I had dinner with 4 Siestas a couple of nights ago - all met on the blog - and laughed like we had known each other all our lives. Then we promptly went to The Melting Pot for some chocolate fondue dessert. It's Biblical. Doesn't it say somewhere that where two or three are gathered, there must be chocolate present? Says so in my Bible.

Thank you, Beth, for your hilariousness, your heart for Him, and the fact that you are REAL. Thanks also, Amanda, for this blog. It has caused a community to develop that is a mighty powerful force, if you ask me!

Thank you God for our mentor; Siesta Mama; Bibby; the one and only Beth Moore, she is so awesome and is so faithful to your direction in her life and how that direction has now been given to all of us. Thanks you so much Heavenly Father for all this LPM, Beth Moore, her daughters, and her whole family, and the LPM Blog. All this has brought all your heavenly daughters together to hear and do your will in each of our lives and now we have a very generous sister so that more good news can be spread!!! Thank you again Father. We love you Beth and anything you want to share will inspire us all --- including that good comfort food - potatoes!!!! Keep up what you are doing - I too am taking the Esther study and have been greatly inspired to find my purpose and plan given to me by God's awesomeness - Thank you God.

First off, Praise the Lord for the humongo donation!! That is incredible! You really have to know that His hand is on the Siesta Fund. Second, Jackson is SOOO cute!! What zest for life. My two little brothers (who are 18 and almost 20 now) loved Thomas the Tank Engine (I guess he has now found a new identity in Thomas the Train), it just about brings me to tears to remember them that young. And also, thank you for another amazing lesson on our Inheiritance Tuesday. It really made alot of things clearer and make more sense to me. I love Tuesday night Bible study! I am learning so much and I can see the effects of it in my everyday walk with the Lord. Oh and by the way, I definately thank Him for sending you to teach me these things. Love you!!

Beth-
I just wanted to say thank you for the great idea of the scripture memory verse posts. I am not participating in the memory verse activity, but have been experiencing some very tough times with my 3rd pregnancy. I have found many pieces of scripture in your posts that have been reassuring to me and given me a sense of peace and strength. It is amazing how the Lord draws us closer during our toughest times. May God Bless you all.

Happy Belated Birthday, Jackson!!!!

Dear boy, it seems only yesterday I was sitting in a huge arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Your Bibby had the most exciting news. She was so happy and excited I thought she was going to burst at the seams with joy. Finally, she was able to share the wonderful news of your birth. Bibby was walking on air that day and I don't think her feet have touched the ground since that special day of your arrival.

Beth, thanks for the random update and for the birthday photos. I love hearing from you. What exciting news about the SSF. So many dear women will benefit and be blessed. It is exciting to see God work.

If you get a chance, I would appreciate your prayers. I am at home this week recovering from surgery.

Love,
Mary

Hey Beth--We love Thomas at our house too... in fact the 4 year old boy, and the two year old girl fight over the trains...

Also wanted to say thanks for all your great material. I've done Breaking Free minus the videos, Believing God, Jesus the One and Only, and Daniel. I wanted to let you know that I teach 9-10 H.S. students on Wednesday nights. I "stole" (giving proper credit of course... I'm a former English teacher) some of your content on what happens when we treat the holy in an unholy manner (a talk on purity)--we even watched a snippet of the video and the girls this week wondered if your thighs were any firmer--and also some stuff from Believing God (in love, I am blessed, chosen, adopted...etc) in our study about worth. Good stuff... I did adapt some of the questions from the Daniel study to fit our young ladies too. It was a blessing to go back and study it again and then to share it.

We are so blessed to be able to sit under great teachers via technology: you, Dr. Swindoll, Dr. Jeremiah... etc. Thank God for Christian radio and television. You and your team bless so many--and educate us too!

Precious Beth and all we Siestas living in "Siestaville" (I cracked up at the insight of one of our precious Siesta's at that one on this Post!)...anyway, back to my random thought: "All we Siestas living in Siestaville are doing the Mexican Hat Dance in Praise and Worship for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in fun and funds for our SSF! Jumping for joy, we see the reign of His Spirit coming down to bless so many." I finally figured out a way to legitimately give to SSF. We share dinners out and save the money and send it in. My man has been a "good Baptist boy" and tither since he was 12 years old. He's in control of the monies spent, and I enjoy the wisdom of it all...we do come into agreement on giving, but He has the final say. We are now retired and have been since 55 years old because of his wisdom and biblical finance we are enjoying financial freedom in our "golden years" and we can still do the Mexican Hat Dance! Yes, it's true! Welcome to Siestaville my good ol' Baptist boy! LOL! "Love finds a way..."
Hugs in Christ to all my Siestas,

Oh my! Our theme was "Comfort Foods." It was stupidly good! We had Tunda Casserole, Mac and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, artichoke salad, lemon cake, chocolate cake, cheesecake, chili, green beans. I'm a big fan of random comments myself, so I loved your post. In fact, I was telling my friend last night that when I had the same thought brought to the forefront of my mind every day for a week, I knew it had to be God because I can't hold on to my own thoughts that long!! Praise God, He hasn't given up on this scatter-brained child yet.

I'm so excited for the SSF. I wish I had something to contribute but we're just barely making it at my house right now. Still, I am with you in prayer and that counts too, right?!

Hope Jackson had a really great birthday. 3 is such a fun age, and as a mom of a 6 year old boy, I can tell you that Thomas is one of those toys that are actually worth spending money on because they don't wear out easily and they can play with them for years. My little man still loves his trains, and he got his first Thomas set the Christmas after he turned 2.

Just out of curiousity, will there be some kind of Siesta get-together at the LPL in New Orleans? I'd love to meet some siestas face-to-face!!

Thanks for being such a blessing in my life and the lives of others.

I cannot tell you how complicated this last year has been. My husband is a pastor. He resigned from his church in March and sat unemployed for four months. Not only was leaving a difficult and painful thing...being broke and broken was another kind of devastation..
How would we ever bounce back is what I asked myself over and over.
But I trust Him and know that He has my best interest at heart.
Ministry is amazing! We love serving....but it is also difficult at times.
I would so love to be a part of the wives conference giveaways. I'm so excited for a chance. I would flip out.....if I won.

What amazing blessings we have to be thankful for! Generosity, love, enthusiasm, girlfriends, birthday cake, family, comfort food, and Jesus...the list goes on and on. Thank you for sharing so much with us. You are a blessing in this little life of mine! Jackson and Annabeth are so beautiful. When I was pregnant a very special friend gave me a card with an excerpt from Psalm 139 - "You knit me together in my mother's womb...My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place..." and she gave me a little pair of pink knitting needles. It was the greatest gift! When my baby was born, I would just stare at him, in amazement and wonder at how fresh he was from "the secret place" with God. I know His handprints are on all of us, but they are just so fresh on our babies, and it is beautiful just to gaze in wonder on His handiwork, isn't it?

And now...please... how do you have fried fish one night and 2 bowls of potatoes another and stay so teeny tiny? That part..well, you're not just like me. But I do think the slanket is quite flattering on me!! LOL!

Dearest Beth,
We do not put up with you, we love you. I love the random stuff, it is so much friendlier (I'm not sure that is really a word!) I hopped on after my husband who is out of a job and just got turned down from job # I don't even know anymore, and feel like I am among friends. I don't even know why. It is so different here, it has to be God reaching out though our screens. Thank you for you.

Praise the Lord for the giver and the donation to the SSF! That is totally awesome! Why do we expect less from our great God?

Bethmoore, I loved the birthday party details. Birthdays are big in our family and so fun to celebrate with all the aunts, uncles, grandparents & cousins. Can I share with you the second verse to Happy Birthday that we learned in church?

Birthday greetings today
May God bless you we pray
Live for Jesus, dear Jackson,
May He guide you always.

We just watched session 5 of Esther yesterday. Let me tell you, the Lord is working through you and hitting me right between the eyes. He is so awesome, why do we expect less?

I want to echo others by thanking you for the SSMV idea. Loving it and the Lord is using this too.

You are so awesome Bethmoore! Love you too!

WOW, WOW AND WOW! God is blessing the Siesta Fund! I am certain that the siesta who gave $10,000 was following God's lead on that and Praise be to God for obedient givers! I am sooooo thrilled that so many will be blessed. Giving away money is the greatest when you're able to give away Jesus' love with it!! WOOHOO!!!

And, Beth, how is it that you can look so cute even in a Thomas the Train hat? LOL!

Random stuff is so often the best! I posted random on my blog this weeke because there wasn't enough "real" material to make up a post! And just how bad can a huge donation, 3-year-old birthday and cheesy potato goodness be! Great post in my book! Blessings!

We call that kind of dinner night..."find it and fix it" night. When anyone asks what's for dinner..."find it an fix it" is the reply. My parents called it Dab night. Dab of this and a dab of that!

I love it when you are real and communicate on a level of real-life.

Because I am real-life.

Praise!! Thank You to the dear siesta for her generosity to expand the love and grace of God!

Random, so real and so life. Often it is the best way to catch up with others.

I think it is easier to be fun as a Nana.
Had lunch with two of my 3 munchkins, and realize Jaelle will need to have all kinds of sparkly's as she growns if it shines it is in her tiny hands.
My boys are just so sweet and so different, one is a chatter and dancer and loves to play with you, the other is quiet but all boy and is happy to know you are close by if he needs you to play with him, I love how he says baooots and gets them on before he heads out side.
K that is my random thoughts as a Nana ooo and I nearly forgot I got to watch munchkin #4 at my daughter's ultra sound and it was way to short, I could have watched for ever and see the precious little life figure out how to move arms and legs.
Fearfuly, Fearful and Wonderfuly, just wonderfuly made; yes, yes Yes we are indeed.

Praise God for this blog and the Siesta family! I am fairly new here, but I find myself wondering about the siestas throughout my week. Today was an especially difficult day at work. (I am a sp. ed. teacher.) So I came home, and instead of working out, I got on the blog and I have been blessed by the post and all the comments! Sometimes I feel alone in my excitement over how great our God is and I love that I can come here and feel the excitement from other siestas!
Praise God for the huge donation! It made my heart smile to know that even in this hard economic time for so many, He spoke to one and she was obedient!
Beth, I am heading out to Week 4 of the Daniel study! I can't wait to hear what the Lord says through you tonight! I loved and have marveled over the fact that "They didn't even smell like smoke!" God is SO BIG!!!!!
Love you girls!
