Our DVD Giveaways and SSF Update!

Hey, Siestas! If you are on our Scripture memory team and haven't signed in with your 4th verse, please see yesterday's post and follow through! I don't want to crowd that very important post but I also can't wait any longer to tell you that AJ and I have done our random drawing for our 5 DVD leader kits from the churches and ministries you nominated and here are the winners:

Nominated by "Lisa" - Reach Out Christian Chapel in Eatonton, Georgia!

Nominated by "Laurie O'Connor" - Hopewell Baptist Church in Milton, Georgia!

Nominated by "Kat Murray" - Sligo Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland!

Nominated by another "Lisa" - Harmony Bible Church in South Thomaston, Maine!

Nominated by "Beth" (not me) - Pinnacle Church in Canton, North Carolina!

We are thrilled to send each of these churches a leader kit (all the DVD's) of Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman. We've chosen the most recent series in hopes that they don't already have a set.

Several of you were so gracious to offer to send back DVD sets that your church has already completed to LPM so we can recycle them but rather than double the shipping, Linda, our accountant, suggests that if you have material to share, go back and look at all the nominated churches and ministries in the comment list to the "Siesta Scholarship Fund" post and find one in your area or State. Get in touch with them and see if they'd like to receive it and, if so, send it on its way with the joy and blessing of the Lord! We are beside ourselves to see your enthusiasm to share and to donate materials. May God invest back in your life and church 100-fold!

Now, for an update on our SIESTA SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Through on-line donations only (we haven't had time to receive the ones through the mail yet), we already have a total of $4000.00 in our fund to launch our giveaways. We are ecstatic! After talking with my staff, we are going to begin our SSF donations by giving the following:

TEN SCHOLARSHIPS to the upcoming "Living Proof Live For Ministers' Wives" in Nashville, Tennessee at Two Rivers Baptist Church on March 13-14, 2009.

We can't think of a more important ministry that we get to take part in. Who on earth could use more encouragement, love and high esteem than our ministers' wives? We learned from our LifeWay event team that the financial crisis in our nation has caused so many churches not to be able to pay their ministers' wives way as they did several years ago when we had well over three thousand in attendance. (The event itself is $60 then there is the expense of going and staying. It's simply too much for many - even most! - to afford.) Because of our brand new Siesta Scholarship Fund, at least ten will be able to attend that could not otherwise afford it.

If you wish you could further participate in some way, if you learn that your minister's wife would like to attend but can't afford it, your Bible study group might consider taking up an offering to help. This might be especially helpful for those that can drive to Nashville and save the expense of a flight.

You guys are the best. Incredibly thoughtful. I will keep you updated on our giving but will, again, not let it take over for fear you'd feel pressured. We'll keep the thing the thing. I am so honored to serve Christ with you, my dear sisters. I am humbled by your servant-hearts and by your giving spirits. I pray that God is so pleased with what He finds in this community.

Onward in His great Name!

The scholarships for minister's wives to attend the LPL is simply wonderful! I'm not a pastor/minister's wife so I won't be going, but I know it will bless these ladies immensely. I just love it!

How do we nominate someone for the pastor's wives conference scholarship? I'm confused. Sorry! :)

I didn't catch the nomination thing...drats! How do you choose the pastor's wives to go on scholarship to the LP Live? I know of a young pastor's wife, from a very tiny rural church, that is working as a 911 dispatcher to make ends meet, and is never able to go to conferences or even Bible Studies, because of time and money constraints. She's doing the LBY study with me, online.

I know so many women will be blessed by this Siesta Scholarship! It's thrilling, just thrilling, to hear of all the good things happening.

Beth,
This is not about the giveaways and if you feel it is not important to post than that is ok. When I think of the many churches out there that believe the basics of Jesus coming, dieing, raised from the dead and coming back and believes that the word of God is the word of God, than regardless of the denomination...R E G A R D L E S S! all THOSE churches need to pull together and be one BIG OLD BODY! Like Ike when it came, all churches were helping.

I know of one particular person that was laid off at a church...What!? for me that does not make sense at all! I think our denominational hats have gotten in our way when as the BODY all should come together to help those that need a job! And not just a hand out either. but...resources...NEEDING A JOB to pay bills. The hand helps the foot, the foot helps to walk, the teeth chew the food, the blood gives oxygen... all in concert. The BODY needs TO COME TOGETHER and maybe the BODY will snap to this coming TOGETHER IN A GREATER AND MORE PROFOUND WAY. Maybe God needs to breath on the dead bones that were lying there and THEN IT became a mighty army. Together as ONE BODY to be a light on a hill, humbling ourselves and somehow we all CRY OUT TO THE LIVING LORD FOR HIS POWER AND BY THAT, MAYBE A way to connect and flow and TO BE ONE BODY.

Thank you for being willing to minister to Minister's Wives. My father is a Pastor and my mom will be attending in Nashville and visiting my family at the same time. I know she so badly needs a good spiritual refill. I will be working as a volunteer that weekend because I am a member of Two Rivers Baptist Church.

May God continue to bless this fund and it grow just like Jesus did with the loaves and fishes in the Sermon on the Mount.

The "Siesta Scholorship Fund" was such an awesome idea. Thanks be to God and thanks be to you for your obedience to launch such a needy and worthwhile cause. I feel blessed to be part of this Siesta journey! And some journey it will be!

I couldn't let this post end without telling you what a huge blessing the study of Esther has been in my life. These churches will be totally blessed. I'm on week five and being so challenged by God. This week's life lesson for me: becoming brave! The cost of fear is just not worth it anymore!

Thanks again Beth.

WOW!! This is simply amazing...

What comes to mind is the scripture in Luke 6:38

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

I can just see how all of this will pour forth and enrich and touch lives by the overflow of God's blessings and love as this reaches out and helps so many.

Far reaching effects...God word will not come back void.

May God's Love continue to reach to the ends of the earth.

Lord Bless you All in abundance!

I have one huge question. Nothing to do with this in a sense. I am retired. I facilitate Beth's Bible studies at my home on Mondays and at the church I attend on Tuesday evenings, same study different locations. My husband and I also go to a Bible study in our community that is a cell group from our church led by a pastor of our church. Every other month from Sept. thru the end of April myself and another lady put on a women's community breakfast featuring one of Beth's teaching via DVD. I go to the gym 3 days a week in the morning for an hour, not counting travel time which is about an hour and a half. How in the world does Beth do all that she does. I know it is the LORD, however time is time and schedule is schedule. When I look at this blog, and try to memorize Scripture, do the homework and research in the study, study for the church Bible study, etc, etc. I am out straight. My children (7) are grown and gone, and so I do not have the balancing of family also, (though I wish I did). I just wish I knew what she does to find the time (she has the same 24hours that God gives me)and accomplishes what she does. Please be blunt. Am I wasting time somewhere? I would love to get done the things that she can. Is it something she eats, the air she breaths, help me here.
We all here just love her and the team and family. I look so forward to reading your blog. I am trying the Scripture memorization but it is veerrry sloooow.
Blessin's to all.

In Iowa, our State Baptist Office receives a DVD set of Beth's (and others) studies from Lifeway. Every Baptist church in the state has access to these studies, and our church has been able to participate in almost every Beth Moore study. For women wanting to give away their already used studies, contacting a state office might be a good solution. That way every church int he state would have access to them.

Beth,

I am so glad to hear the update and even more thrilled to hear about where it's going. I could not agree more that pastors wives' do need so much love and encouragement. They certainly do not get it like they should and are often times put under unfair burdens. One of my best friends is a pastor's wife and she is absolutely one of the most precious people I know. These women ask nothing for themselves, they stay strong in the Lord, all the while staying strong for their husband and church. They truly amaze me with their humility and service. May God continue to bless this ministry.

I would just like to add a plea of my heart, here.... I am amazed to see this scholarship thing unfolding! What a brilliant picture of the Kingdom of God. When you are considering people for scholarships for future events, please do keep wives of seminary students (MDiv, PhD, etc.) in mind. I cannot count the number of brochures and websites for events and conferences I gazed at longingly and knew I could never, ever go to during that very, very stretched and taxing (financially, emotionally, spiritually) time.... Same thing could be said for Bible School/College/Seminary teachers' wives, which is the sticky position I'm in right now, because I technically don't qualify as a "minister's wife," but if what my husband is doing isn't a ministry, I don't know what it is.... BTW, I'm overseas, so I'm not trying to say this to my own advantage (I'm totally resigned to the fact that I am unable to go to any conferences now!), but if the load of even a few seminary students' and/or teachers' wives could be lightened by my bringing them to someone's attention, that would be a blessing enough for me.

How would you recommed doing the Esther study as an individual. I know it's formatted for groups studies, but my girlfriend and I are wanting to do it on our own. We have the member books, but would rather not purchase the leader kits for the sessions. We are so excitied to delve into Esther, but both are pastors wives and moms of little ones and just don't have it in us to lead the group ourselves. So, what do you recommend - just do the book alone?

Siesta Mama, I love you very much! God is doing a mighty thing through you; and by way of doing it through you, He is doing a mighty thing in the lives of all Siestas, participating or not. Isn't that just beyond cool?

We have to be obedient to His calling though; you first by way of just doing what He has called you to do (and you are off to a fantastic start!). And then us by giving and praying. I understand that not all of us can give. As a matter of fact, my gift will be very small, but it will be what I can give and God will honor that in a big way! The widow's mite comes to mind... I say all this to say, that for those who feel that they can't give, maybe they are thinking that they have to give big, but they don't. God will use the smaller gifts just the same as He does the bigger gifts. Prayer is not too shabby of a gift either! When someone earnestly intercedes and petitions the throne of the Lord for me, well it is one of the greatest gifts I can receive! Likewise, the scholarship fund (and LPM as you prayerfully make decisions) will need mighty prayer warriors!

We are in this together; we are the body....what a thrill to see God not only work through you, but to work through us through you. It's simply amazing how God works. Oh, how I love Him so!

Again, I love you Siesta Mama! Love you, love you, love you! You are such a sweet treat in my life and I thank God right now for working through you to get to me and many others. You are a godly woman. Now don't be thinking that you are unworthy of a little praise. God wants to bless His little Siesta Mama and show her that she is much loved!

Prayers and blessings,
Rebecca

Oh, how God answers prayer! My church was one of the churches chosen to receive the Esther Bible Study. There are several ladies in our church of 40 that wanted to participate in this study, but we had no funds available to purchase the DVDs. Our church budget was cut by 1/3 this year, down to $20,000.00 (which includes our pastor's salary), and several of our programs lost funding. This is such a miraculous blessing! I've called three ladies in the church already, and I am just bursting at the seams with excitement!!! Thank you, Jesus, for such a wonderful ministry as LPM, for such a wonderful mentor in Beth Moore, and for such a wonderful online family in my siestas. Ok. I'm crying now. Thank you!

i am still blown away by this whole idea...and that it has already taken off the way it has!
this reminds me of something i heard a pastor speak on one time-about how we're supposed to live with an "open hand policy" so that whatever gifts or blessings are placed in our hands by God are also always available for the Lord to take and give to other people for His kingdom's work. when our hands are closed, we are hoarding things that are meant to bless others as well!

I sooooooo badly wanted to be at this year's event for minister's wives. My Bff went to the last one and said it was the best conference EVER!!!!
This past year was a doozy (ministry-wise) for my family. My husband resigned from a very unhealthy churh. We know it was the right decision....but then he sat for 4 months unemployed. Devastating to our family of 5 (3 of which are teenagers).
It has been very difficult bouncing back financially and emotionally.
I would be honored to win a trip to the year's most fabulous event!

I heart you LPM and Beth Moore!!!!

Thank you for both the conference for minister's wives as well as for giving scholarships for it. I'm hoping to be there!

I asked our leadership if the registration fee might be able to be covered from my husband's conference budget or from some other area in the budgets, and the answer was no. Even though they knew this year had been an incredibly hard one for me at the church, and even though our church is relatively wealthy and $60 would not be missed one bit, there "wasn't an area it could come from, but I could take it out of [my] tithe." :)

The $60 isn't impossible for me to come up with, either, but the feeling it gave me..."Yes, we know it can be hard to be a minister's wife, and yes we know this has been a hard year for you, but we're not really in the business of supporting you" was what stung.

They did say they'd think about creating a fund for things like this in the future, but the fact is, there AREN'T many opportunities for minister's wives. So THANK YOU for investing in us!!!

Can we nominate someone and how? My pastor's wife, is also my dearest friend. She is a mentor to me and so many more, shouldering her own burdens as well as ours. She and my pastor have been hit with illness, surgeries and family issues for the past three years, and yet have continued to serve so faithfully. She leads our women's ministry and Bible studies and has led so many of us to a closer relationship with Christ. She actually introduced us to Beth Moore studies at the beginning of their ministry with us.

She truly is a godly woman who loves Jesus with all her heart and desires so desperately for others to come to know Him as their Savior.

Sounds like a great plan.
Here's what we do with the studies we've done. I have one niece whose husband is in seminary and one whose husband is a youth pastor. I pass the DVD studies on to them and they use with the women they are connected with- then they pass them back and we share with other ladies that might not be able to afford them. I have three nieces who are doing studies right now that would not have been able to get then on their own. Is GOD good or what?
Thought I'd share this with others in case they have extended family or friends that they could do the same with.

I've listened to stories of the girls, Jackson, Keith... and now your precious NEW granddaughter Annabeth! I am honored to be involved in this ministry.... I thank you for all you do and continue to do.

I am facilating the Esther study at our church. It is a small group... I feel so inadequate.. but I love your studies. Sometimes I have to read it twice.

We live in Ga... I am the mom of 6 children. My husband and I have been married for 28 yrs. I am not a grandma yet but looking foward to it in the next few years. Our oldest is married... I am an older mom (47) so maybe a grandma by the time I am 50!

Beth, I struggle with my marriage. I know I can't say much here. My heart hurts and I keep going to the Father asking Him to help me... my husband dances with the bottle more than us. I know God has placed me here for such a time as this.... and daily I ask Him to give me HIS strength...

I love you, Beth. I feel connected to all of you.

Beth,
I feel so blessed to have learned about LPM and the Bible studies. I feel like my life has been rejuvinated. I worked for 23 years in positions from childrens director to Christian Education to families Minisries Leader. Never was there money for these positions to go for a day much less a weekend to be filled up. You know you can only pour out so long before you must refill. Bless you for you do that on a daily basis. I have completed 2 studies and am beginning the 7th week of the Patriarchs. My faith feels like it did when I first accepted Jesus with the exception I have been taught a lot more than I knew then. I long for the day that I can look at you face to face and tell you how much you mean to me.
Keep on keeping on. You are in my prayers each day along with the LPM staff and families for protection from attacks for I know the message you share is not one he wants out.
We love you guys.

Beth, I am a minister's wife and am so looking forward to our time together in Nashville. My church's ladies group offered to send all the "staff" wives and we were so grateful and humbled.
I want to tell you thank you so much for the Esther study -- GIRL! I am LOVING it! We just watched session six today. I about came unglued when you said, "GP, are you with me?" Being somewhat of a Kirk Franklin fan, I was immediately "with you". Well, since we offer "Esther" on either Monday, Wed or Thursday night AND Tuesday morning, most of the ladies that come on Tues morning are older. After the video was over, I was telling them about Kirk Franklin and I'm not sure anyone believed I knew what I was talking about or even "got" it. It was so funny! They kept trying to come up with things you meant by GP (group of people, even). I am definitely taking my CD in to Bible Study next week!! What a hoot! I had to call my college age children to get some understanding!

Don't you just love Bible study!?

Would this conference for pastor's wives be something that is applicable to women in ministry also? I think that women who are actually the ones on church or denominational staff often are overlooked when it comes to events for women. And they have GREAT need for spiritual encouragement and teaching.

Praise the Lord for what He is doing through LPM! He is amazing! (and so are you and everyone at LPM, as well as all the hilarious giving siestas!)

Much love!

I can't wait for the minister's wives conference! I am blessed to be able to afford to attend.

Beth, I just wanted to tell you quickly how much your teachings on 'Life Today' have helped me so much. I NEEDED those words. It seemed like just when I needed them, they were there thanks to you.

God bless you!

Thanks Beth, we have already started distributing our materials within our Austin community-Our Ester series is being utilized by a group of young women. We finished the last session today and I wish there was some way to adequately express our appreciation and how each of us has been touched deeply and uniquely by our Lord through your extraordinary teaching/research gifts. I have been a part of this wonderful ecumenical bible study for many years and we are doing an "inventory" of our materials and passing them on thanks to your enouragement- Kathy Armstrong, Austin

I am sorry this is a bit off topic, but I didn't want to take up the memory scripture space, but I really felt like I couldn't hold this back any longer. I am just so Blown AWAY by all the beautiful scripture each and every person on here is committing to memory. This is a HUGE testimony to me...God's Word really does not come back void. It really encourages me to stay the course, just from what I see demonstrated through all these amazing people...it's soooo WORTH IT.

Thank You!

Forever humbled,
Doris

Ok, I have a question in regards to the scholarships. What exactly will it cover? Will it include flights and hotel rooms? If not is there a way that we who have air miles or room points can donate them to the scholarship fund to pay for this? Or maybe set up a way that we can help with this portion. I think that it is wonderful that God has used Beth and LPM to start this scholarship program. I can not wait to see how our Heavenly Father takes this small offering and ministers to women all over the world.

A friend sent me this comment and I wanted to share. This may not be the right way to get it to you, but wasn't sure.

Our internet service has been down since I entered our little church into the drawing. Just this afternoon the technician came to fix things. When he had done what he needed to do, he called me to the computer to try things out before he left. He stood behind me as I sat down to check out the Living Proof blog for the drawing results!

How excited I was to point to my entry as a drawing winner for our church! I didn't know witness of the results would be an internet technician, but hey, God first announced His Son to shepherds, didn't He?

Thank you for your generosity Living Proof Ministries. God will use the Esther study to make more room for Himself in and through the state of Georgia!

In anticipation...

Laurie

I really like to hear your heart-responses to people and events so i'd love to hear whom of those you read and studied in school were among your most memorable ...of course always keeping in mind John 5:39,40!....thanks !

I agree with the poster who suggested that seminary wives need help, as well. Having been in seminary, and have a son and precious daughter-in-law there now, I know how much they cannot do because of a lack of money. These precious women also have the added stress of a husband who is working and studying and has little time to spend with his family. Consider these women...I am!
Thank you for all you do...I also am being blessed by Esther...

I'm so glad you're doing another minister's wives event! You have no idea how you touched me when you made a fuss over the baby in the crowd (it wasn't mine)@ the Chatt. minister's wives event - you probably don't even remember. But, when my children were little I had to miss several "church" functions because of the lack of childcare and I'm sure you know nursing babies aren't always welcome... That's not the only thing that spoke to me that wkend. That was an extremely difficult time in our ministry and through that event I was able to refocus on what we're to be about and "hang on" through that STORM. I'm curious about the Lifeway comment on churches not paying for their minister's wives to attend this time. I don't know of any area churches that paid for their wives last time or this time. There is such a need for this kind of encouragement and support among minister's wives that the group of ladies I'm going w/ this time feel the same as the group of ladies from before - guilty for using money from our family's "budget" but know we NEED this time away to refresh and renew. Thanks for you willingness to serve us by using the gifts God has blessed you with.

It's always been my prayer that the Lord will continue to richly bless you Beth, your Living Proof Live staff, your families and your ministry; to bless you with His continued annointing on your ministry, your studying, your preparing and to bless you with what you need to accomplish it. It thrills my heart to see your ability and your heart to give, knowing that you are giving from the abundance of the Lord and His blessings on you and your ministry.

I am a minister's wife and a ladies bible study facilitator. I absolutely love doing and being both. It thrills me to see a new lady show up at our Monday night bible study who has never in her life ever studied the bible much less been a part of a group study. We had a young lady this past Fall for her first ever study and she was one of our ladies with perfect attendance! I want to thank you, Beth, and your staff, but mostly the Lord for bringing the annointing that is so clearly upon your life. These studies have blessed my life and the lives of many of my ladies at my church and in the community surrounding my church. But, obviously from reading these blogs, your impact is very, very large and I praise God for using you to bring us to a greater knowledge of Him and a deep, deep desire to want to study His word. That's what you've given me and I thank you for it. You make it amazing, life-changing and FUN to study God's word.

I also want to say that we are one of those churches who can't always afford the materials but we have a community of churches here in this area who are gracious to share with us; we've shared our materials with others as well. Thanks again for caring so deeply about getting God's word to all of us and sacrificing from your abundance in order to make that happen.

May the Lord continue to richly bless you and keep you in His care,

Tina Lyn, Odessa, TX

Just have to share!! I hope if it's not Beth moderating that you would pass this little message on to her...
I was sharing about the new scholarship fund with a friend of mine yesterday. Her name is Carol and she comes to our Women's Ministry Bible study. Anyway, she also ministers to the women in our women's prison by going each week. She got approval recently to do one of your studies recently and they are halfway through the Esther study!! I told her about the scholarship fund and she was weeping before I finished talking about it as she's hopeful that she'll be able to do more studies with the women. (She can often borrow the DVDs but the workbooks prove to be a challenge to purchase.) And for the best part... 14... FOURTEEN women in PRISON gave their lives to Christ last Wednesday night during Bible Study!! Isn't God amazing? :)

I was wondering if you would consider giving any scholarships to the Deeper Still conference in Greensboro, NC. We have several from our church going, but I know of at least two who would like to go but cannot afford it. One of the ladies husband has been out of work for months due to a severe car wreck. She has been forced to return to work at minimal pay to support their family. If so, please contact me at cwood04@gmail.com. If not, I completely understand there must be limits and procedures for this type of fund. I am sure if God wants them there He will make a way. Thank you!
