A Great Time in the Big ATL

Hey, Siestas! I'm so glad to talk to you today! I've wanted to get on here since the moment I sat down on the plane to head home from Atlanta but I had a lesson to get ready and had to wait. However, I am so glad that my delay gave AJ the opportunity to blog because she used the word "inhairitance" and it is quite possible I have never loved her more.

OK, I had the best time. The only thing that would have made it better is getting to see every last one of you at the Siesta luncheon. The Southern Siestas (what they called themselves) were so cute! All sorts of different ages and types! I just love that. And how about Melana sending Miesta Moose with his little suit case since she couldn't join us? That right there, Girlfriends, is why your Mama loves you so. You make me laugh and you make me love Jesus more. That is the highest praise I can give a soul on this earth.

That forty-eight hours in Atlanta were so packed that I can't give you a play by play in the limited time I have. Instead, I am going to give you 10 highlights (I love that word. It reminds me of my inhairitance) in no particular order of priority. There were so many other things I'd mention if I had time. It was delightful from beginning to end.

1. Seeing Melissa and Colin in baggage claim after I arrived. It was a Saturday morning so she was just in jeans and a t-shirt. She had her bangs straight back in a barrette and looked about 15 years old. And, Lord have mercy, I love that man of hers. He is the sweetest thing ever. We had a quick lunch together then headed to the blessed madness. Melissa worked her tail off all weekend assisting her mom. I am so grateful to her. She never knew it was a weekend.

2. Walking into the sanctuary at the beautiful FBC Woodstock for dress rehearsal late Saturday afternoon. The 300-voice choir was already in the loft and the stage was all set and the lighting perfected and I just kinda had a moment. I knew we were about to be part of something BIG. And I was overwhelmed by God's gracious goodness to my buddy Travis. We make so much fun of each other and are rarely serious about one another but it hit me between the eyes that moment how really special the dude is. I mean, I've known it for 10 years but sometimes you just have a surreal moment where you're stricken by the extraordinary. I also thought to myself, it's too bad the boy doesn't have any friends. When I tell you that his friends rallied, I am not kidding. He honestly has more BFFs than any person in the universe besides Jesus...and sometimes, like when he gets to tape in a place like Abbey Road studios in London, I think he may be Jesus's BFF.

3. Seeing my whole praise team and many of my other LPL team members who I love so dearly like Paige (she runs women's events at LifeWay), Rich and Gretchen (she had the cutest new hair cut!), Stephen (the world's greatest graphics guy) and Nate and Shelly (she's one of our young and very gifted Siestas. I love her and her man like crazy. They get married in two and a half weeks. Not a moment too soon based on the way they look at each other. That's all I'm saying). Seeing my beloved Angela Cottrell and also Boomama (Sophie) AND HER MAN and Bigmama (Melanie, whose man is always hunting like mine). I LOVE THEM!

4. Working with Max Lucado. He is such a great guy. Delightful to be around. Very approachable. You'd like him just as much as you think you would. He and I did these little vignettes at various times in the worship experience. You're going to love what he shared. (For those of you who were there and are totally confused at this point, Max could only be there on Saturday night so his vignettes were taped at dress rehearsal. Two of my segments at the actual event were fill-ins for his. He will be a big part of the DVD.)

5. OK, brace yourself because this one is a huge one: Heading over to the Governor's Mansion after dress rehearsal where Melissa and I had been invited to have dinner and...are you still with me here?...SPEND THE NIGHT. Yes. A slumber party at the Governor's Mansion. (Not one word of this has a danged thing to do with politics. I want you to know something about a brother and sister in Christ who happen to hold political office.) Our time in that home was something I will never forget as long as I live. I knew Governor Perdue and Georgia's First Lady, Mary, really loved Jesus because...

a) I'd heard that, particularly in reference to the prayers over Georgia for the drought a year or so ago, and
b) Mrs. Perdue had come to our Deeper Still event in Atlanta and I could clearly see she was a real, live follower of Jesus and not a nominal Christian looking to make political points with constituents.

You'll find this little bit of Siesta trivia interesting: Mrs. Perdue and our very own Georgia Jan are very, very good friends. Family friends for decades. Georgia Jan is simply one of the most delightful people you will ever meet in your entire life. She is laugh-your-head-off hilarious. So witty. Digs Jesus like crazy. She was our big connection there and, of course, was at dinner and also spent the night (and the next) there at the mansion. By the way, Georgia Jan's husband can't remember the name "Siesta" for us for anything. He calls us the "Salsas." It made me so happy. We're a pretty salsy group of God-loving Siestas if you ask me.

We had the most marvelous dinner. Mrs. Perdue (I did call her by her first name face-to-face but I can't bring myself to do it in print) asked her two beautiful daughters, Lee and Laura, to join us and Lee's twin 9-year-old daughters, Mary Kate and Sunni, were our extra delights at the table. If you know me well, you know I love little girls! Especially pre-adolescents! They were the cutest things ever. They later took us on a tour of the mansion and, oh, if you could have seen the historical place through their eyes, you would have loved it! The Governor was so gracious to us that he won me forever. He helped clear plates and all sorts of things but where he had me was in his attentiveness to his bride of 36 years. The whole time we sat and chatted after dinner, he had his left arm propped on the back of her chair and he played with the back of her hair. They are flat out in love. It did a heart good.

Would you believe I got to sleep in the president's suite??? That morning I woke up and said out loud with my head still on the pillow, "Good morning, Lord. It's me. I'm here in the Governor's Mansion in Atlanta and I'm in the president's suite in case you're having trouble finding me. I know I seem a bit out of place..." And the Lord and I laughed.

PS. Georgia Jan, I've nearly hurt myself on that Gevalia Coffee. Ordered 4 pounds when I got home.

6. Church with Melissa and Colin. We went to Buckhead Church where they attend and the whole experience left me bug-eyed. Melissa is friends with their worship leader, Carlos, and his darling wife, Heather, and I loved meeting them so much. They have been so gracious to make her and her man feel welcome so far from home. Carlos is a fabulous worship leader. The congregation was fabulous, too, but, all in all, they stayed remarkably calm while I, on the other hand, was just about ready to run a lap. I had Melissa on my right (blocking the aisle. Actually I don't really take laps but sometimes I wish I could) and one of my other favorite people on earth, Janet Reeves, on my left. (She's one of the best things that God has ever done in Jesse Reeves' life. He's a big part of the Chris Tomlin Band - bass player, vocals, co-writer - and I love him like crazy, too.) I do not have words big enough for my reaction to Andy Stanley. He is simply one of the most extraordinarily gifted communicators I have ever seen in my life. I was nearly slack-jawed. And, yes, I've heard him before but it hits me every time. His message on giving is still rolling around in my head and making me itch to get the checkbook and give some money away. Haven't had a chance to talk to my man about it but I will.

Dang, I'm running out of time! Meeting at 12:00! Speeding up!

7. Surprising the Southern Siestas at the end of their lunch on Sunday afternoon. They were so much fun! I know I already mentioned it but it was too good not to make part of my ten!

8. Meeting Shaun Groves. Good grief. He's just so cool and so passionate about the work of Jesus that it's stupid. (I mean stupid in that really wonderful way.) Meeting Cindy Morgan. She is the tiniest thing you've ever seen with one of the biggest gifts God has entrusted to a song writer/vocalist in our generation. Trav had been on the Christmas tour with both of them this year and loves them so much. I certainly could see why.

9. The worship experience itself. It is TREMENDOUS. I can't wait for it to come out on CD and DVD. You will love the music and it will most definitely do it's job. Girlfriends, you will be led to worship.

10. Angela Cruz leading out on the Mercy Seat song (can't remember but I think it may officially be called "Running". I don't know. I'm so dumb). The whole sanctuary was nearly overwrought with the Spirit. I'm not kidding. It was so powerful, it was nearly painful. Travis transitioned the song into "Lord Have Mercy" and I nearly had to hit the floor. I felt like God was literally pouring out mercy upon us like a torrent. It was a moment in corporate worship that I may never forget.

Well, that's my run down and I left so much out! I also don't have time to edit. I'm just gonna have to pitch it out there as it is! I love you guys so much and wished every one of you were with us. This is my way of hoping you'll feel just a tad like you were.

Wow! I sounds like you all had the time of your life! It is nice to know that we have some governors out there who love the Lord and are willing to stand up and say it. God bless the Perdue's and the lovely state of Georgia (even though it isn't my lovely wish I was in state of Alabama!!)

Loved hearing the top 10. One of these days I will make it to a Beth Moore live event.

Have a blessed day ladies!

Have I lost my mind? When was Max Lucado there?

So much to say here but I have to Amen the Mercy Seat/Running (whatever) song... POWERFUL!!

And I have to add one of my top ten was having you worship somewhat close to our group for a time. But Beth, will you please just tell all the girls it was me you were waving at and not that cute little 10 yr old behind me? :)))))

I love this! What an awesome weekend. The President's suite?? What a treat! The thought of Melissa and Colin waiting for you to land at the airport touched my heart. It's so hard when family must live apart.... and such a blessing when they get together. What a tender moment. If anything good comes from times apart, it seems to me that it makes the times together extraordinary. Thanks for sharing your awesome time in Georgia!!!

Thank you for the kind words, Mrs.Moore. I've never been called "stupid" and it been such an enjoyable thing. Thank you.

It was an incredible night of music, inspiration AND compassion. Almost 200 children will now eat, learn, be healed and hear how much God loves them every day. Well worth the trip.

Okay, all this talk about WORSHIP is making my heart pound! I LOVE good worship!
While I love to crank up my worship tunes when nobody is home and sing my heart out, there is just something about worshiping with other believers...oh so good!!
Sunday morning seems way too far away right now!!

This reminds me of my favorite "Bethism" of all time...

"Ain't no high like the Most High!!"

Oh, Beth, thank you for taking the time to share your special weekend with us. It made me feel like I was there! And, actually, I really was only 2 hours away. I wish I had known about the Southern Siesta gathering, too. That would have been so much fun!

Being from Georgia, I am especially proud to have "Sonny" and Mary in our "White House." How thrilling it must have been to wake up in the presidential suite. You rate, woman! The twins are precious, too. I know they loved you as much as you loved them. I often see them running around at breakfast on Saturday mornings or Sunday lunch (giving out hugs) with their dad and grandparents at a little mom and pop restuarant we frequent -- and Sonny's favorite barbecue place at that!

What a treat hearing you speak of familiar places and faces -- including Georgia Jan. She's as real as they come, I do believe, and loved by many.

Thanks again for being one of us!!!

Oh, and by the way, I've said for years that the beauty of the Lord is on you. :-)

LOVED this run down, Beth! I saw Travis, Cindy & Shawn on that Christmas tour & LOVED it too--that Shawn was hilarious!

I have a question about a future post--I've been thinking that it might be cool to read what different women do in their quiet time each day. Maybe you, Melissa & Amanda could give us some insight into what you do from the time you get there to the time you get up.... and then others could post what they do. It might help generate some fresh ideas for some Siestas that need a boost in their time with the Lord each day. I think we all need suggestions from time to time to help us encounter Jesus in a new way. Just something I have been thinking about lately.

Beth, This is what I love so much about you -- how you just treat us like family. I LOVE how you come and tell us about your day and your funny little stories! Although I do not comment often, I read your blog faithfully. I have laughed with you and cried with you; I have prayed for you and for other siestas. This blog is so much more than a blog - you along with Amanda, Melissa, (and even Curtis on occasion) have made it so much more. And today I just wanted to stop and say Thanks - for just being You!
Love Sandra :)

Ok - Here are my top ten for how dang CUTE Bethmoore is:

1. You are passionate about study and scripture, all while you love to talk girly stuff, like love and hair.

2. You are the kind of mama who knows her daughter might just be keeping her hemmed in from running laps in worship.

3. Your the kind of woman who would run laps. I LOVE YOU!

4. Talking to God, just being blown away about being in the Governers Mansion.

5. Knowing that you were talking to Him while putting on your mascara in such a fancy place.

6. The details you share with women you have never met.

7. That we mean so much to you

8. That you are so obedient to the LORD; in all you do, I love the realtionship the LORD and you have, makes we want it and knowing I can and will have it.

9. How sweet you are to other ministries - what a blessing to witness.

10. And finally, what a strong, daring daughter of the KING you are. All that must have been to get you where you are is no mistake. I want to cry at how touched I am to be part of this community. I feel like you are my siesta mama and that AJ and Lis are my sisters. I hope it is not to bold.

Blessings to you and yours in Him, the name above all names.

Siesta OC

PS: I cry when I think of you telling us in Patriarch's that Kieth says a prayer for the woman who has no man to pray over her. You tell him, that means SO MUCH TO ME, so much healing in that one concept.
Bless you!

That, my friend, was a day I will not soon forget unless, God forbid, some sort of early dementia sets in! THANK YOU for dropping by and making our day!

And, Lord have mercy on that Mercy Seat song! It truly WAS a torrent of mercy running through that place - absolutely amazing!!

Hugs all around,

Dear Beth,
Hello from wintry Ohio! We have lots of snow and ice right now and it has warmed my heart to read your blog. It is so good to be friends with a siesta I don't actually know in person. I love the part in your story, where you said how much you loved pre-adolescent girls. Me too!! My favorite girl is my daughter who's 12. She is the most darling thing that you have EVER seen and I do mean EVER! Her name is Andriana.
(pronounced: Ann Dree On uh)
She was adopted from Russia at thee years old. God totally wrapped our hearts around one another from the very first day. She is a perfect fit for our family which consists of my husband (of 25 years this Aug),our 3 sons..plus 2 standard poodles named Audrey and Sabrina). The first thing I ever sang to her was Jesus Loves Me and even though I know her ears didn't understand my language, God gave her the heart to really hear. Her english came quickly and we were together constantly. I told her countless bible stories and shared the love of Jesus with her every day. One morning when she was almost 5, she came up into my bed and snuggled into the covers and asked if she could have Jesus in her heart too. You just have to hear her prayer because it is so, so precious! "Dear Jesus, thank you for the food, come into my heart because I want you to please. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins and thank you for the food, amen." Oh how the angels rejoiced that day and my heart has never stopped singing! You can probably tell that we always pray before our meals and that is how she learned.. so it was only natural that she thanked God for the food at her saving moment,...in our bed!! Needless to say she loves the Lord dearly. She has been graced with beauty both inside and out and is the best female gift I have ever received. There aren't enough words to describe such a beautiful gift. Her adoption has totally opened our eyes to God's adoption of us into His family. It is worth more than anything and it is such a special miracle. Praise Him for making a way for us into eternity and thank Him for gifts too incredible for words.
Thank you Beth, for your love of the Savior and for helping so many women fall in love with Jesus day by day! It has been fabulous to share a little of Him with you now.
Love and prayers,
Dawn

What a start to your "Jesus-Year"! You had a wonderfully packed 48 hours that sounds like it must've flown by. Thanks for sharing with us.

Your highlights reminded me that I have an appt. today to get my roots enhanced! It's so hard to change "miracle workers" when you move! I've tried to convince my man I need to fly back to Seattle to get the perfect color and cut! It's not working, so far! I have found a wonderful lady, but we're having trouble finding the right "not red" for me. BTW, I love your haircut--very cute. Is it easy to style?

Glad you're in your own Bethmoore suite at home! I know Amanda is happy you're home and will be there when she needs you! Cant wait to see her little princess!

"How deep the Father's love for us,

That He should give His only Son

He has been good to us, hasn't He? I am so blessed by you, my Sister. You are His very favorite treasure, I know.

Love you much!

That was a great recap!!
It was such fun to get to see you, Travis and worship with some of my dear Southern Siestas. When you walked into the room, I had my back to the door, talking to a siesta and all of the sudden I hear a collective squeal and "Its Beth" rang out across the room. I looked up and there you were!! So cute and darling in your lovely jacket!! Thanks so much for surprising us!! I will never forget it!

And man oh man, you hit the nail on the head with your comment about Angela singing "Mercy Seat"...I was soo moved that I was just in tears by the end of that song and could not possibly think about singing along. I'm getting goosebumps right now, just thinking about that moment! And the whole night! Wow! God was movin' majorly that night!!
I can not wait for the cd and dvd to come out...Im already planning a party to get my peeps that couldnt come with me together to watch the dvd!
I am so glad to hear about a bit of your time with Melissa and Colin. I know she was jazzed to have you there and to go to her church!

Have a wonderful rest of the week dear Mama Beth! And keep us posted on any future cloggin' get togethers! Lol!

Love you!
Nikki

PS I also agree with Lisa (Preacher's Wife) that it was awesome to look up and see you there worshipping right along side of us...you were practically apart of our group and I loved it! But don't try and ease Lisa's mind...we all know you were waving at the little girl behind her...she's just wishin' and hopin'! J/K! Love you Lisa!!

Oh, yes, Beth you do know how to share the fun details and make us all feel like we were there! We all thank you for that!

One of my favorite people in the whole world is from, and has now returned to live in Woodstock, GA.
I finally got down there myself a year and a half ago when her sweet daughter was married there. A great town and growing in leaps and bounds! Would have been so excited to be there rather than suffering cabin fever here in Michigan! Whatever happened to "global warming"?!?

Can't wait to hear some music from the weekend! Hope there are plans to post some to sample!

Oh my, did your sweet daughter open up a can worms about the possiblility of her water breaking in public. Girls sure do love to tell their "war stories"!

Please assure your precious girl that all she needs to dwell on is that God designed these female bodies just special for this purpose. (A good thing to remember when I am angrily pulling my jeans over the hips God gave me.)

I am an OB nurse and will tell you when sprayed with amniotic fluid all I can think of is this is "living water"! Our bambinos could not survive without it and neither can we without our living water! Just another of the awesome threads of practical lessons God has given us to point us to Him. A messy one perhaps, but a great object lesson nonetheless!

Nothing like the birth of our children, unless of course, it's the birth of our grandchildren!!! My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family as you anticipate this very special blessing!

Love,
Kathy

Dearest Beth,
I get to see Travis Cottrell and Max Lucado twitters...along with Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant...Patsy Clairmont...other followers of Jesus Christ blessing others with so many gifts...now where are you? Your twitters would be so incredibly lifting and amusing....it is so much fun and such a Christ loving and praising way to basically chat like little birds...(we would just be priviledged to read them, nothing more).....would you consider twittering if you do not already.....what a blessing you would be in so many lives in addition to your regular siestas following your blog...your quick humor and praises would be so 'you' I feel in my heart and for others too.....I always love your wit and praises........glad you had a great time...Max Lucado mentioned his inclusion with you and Cottrell on his twitter.....I was envious.....what a threesome! love & hugs always, Annette

Thank you Beth for your top 10's and your weekend. It sounds like it was so awesome!! It really makes me feel like a part of this mass group of women who love Jesus. Makes me wish I lived on the east side of the country instead of the west side.......=)
I agree with what you said about Andy Stanley. I have never personally seen him but I listen to his podcasts and he speaks so that anyone and everyone understands. Always says something that God wants me to hear.
I thank God for you and your lovely daughters who also post on here. I am always excited when there are new posts to read. Thank you for making each and everyone of us feel so loved by you all (ya'll as you say it) and by God.
God bless,

Beth,

I was there too.......nearly fell out in the floor when BIG & BOO mama walked right by me......I wish I had known about the bloggers thing too, would've been fun.

Anyway, I am so with you about Mercy Seat....my breath was nearly taken away when they broke into "Lord Have Mercy" in the middle of that song. Since then, I've downloaded another version of the song, but I can't wait for the recording to be released.

It was a fabulous night of worship for sure!!! I'm so glad I went. It was so worth the trip from Dalton.

Oh Beth! I was there with you all in Atlanta, as the taping was in my home church.

You may not remember this because it all happened so fast, but I wanted to send you a note thanking you for the smidgen of time you took to acknowledge me and hug my neck before everything got started.

You and Melissa and I don't know who else were getting off the elevator to go back stage, and I was walking out of the worship center to take my 4 year old to childcare.

I mumbled something in disbelief when I saw you, forgetting for a moment that you are an actual person. I was starstruck to say the least. I'm sorry, Beth, because I "know" you better than to think you would want me to react that way.

But I didn't dream I would walk out and see you there, and you, instead of acting like the celebrity you are, acted like the child of God that you are, and the sister to all believers that you are, and in your busyness and rush, you asked me how I was ("I'm kind of freaking out" was my reply!) and you passed through the crowd of people to hug my neck.

You touched my heart in that small moment more than you'll ever know. Yes, I "feel" like I know you because of all the studies I've been through with you, but now I know that the perception of a "real" person that I have of you is more accurate than even I thought. Thank you for loving on me. You had every excuse not to, but you did it anyway.

Oh Beth, Thanks so much for sharing! I nearly was in tears reading about the special times in worship. God is good! Isn't it just amazing how the Lord can draw a group together.. and then just show up to the extent that trying to describe it leaves you speechless to try.. Awesome! I am so glad you had great time. That the Lord was with you in ways you could not even imagine.

P.S. I'm STILL thinking about last week's The Inheritance lesson, it impacted me in such a big way, like life-changing. Still trying to wrap my head all the way around it...

You had too much HOT SALSA - didn't you, Beth? LOL!
I felt like I was there but the best part was when I read about waking up in the President's suite and telling the LORD where you were. Your mother was probably smiling down from heaven saying, "Wanda Beth, don't you know that you don't need to tell God where you live? I found that out after I got here!" I'm sure Jesus and your Mama were both laughing!

I praise God for your enthusiasm and your JOY in JESUS!

Beth - Thanks for sharing! Take a look at this word from Merriam-Webster's daily email. I would love to hear you spin it with our theology in Tuesday night Bible study - surely this is tied to our inheritance!

primogeniture
\prye-moh-JENN-uh-chur\

noun

Meaning

*1 : the state of being the firstborn of the children of the same parents
2 : an exclusive right of inheritance belonging to the eldest son

In many civilizations, past and present, the state of being the oldest among siblings is a key component of inheritance law. “Primogeniture,” which first appeared in English in the early 17th century, derives from the Late Latin “primogenitura,” a combination of the Latin “primus” (“first”) and “genitura” (“birth”), from the past participle of “gignere” (“to beget”). For those who are youngest in birth order, a similar word applies — “ultimogeniture” — but this word is newer (first appearing in English in 1882) and much less common.

You know, just when I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, I might not want to be a "sold out" type lunatic for the Lord, cuz it's just not always conventient (or someother lame self-serving reason), I read ya'lls blog (or try to, ur long-winded woman) and I'm hit in the face with the blessings and random joys that He can fill our lives with just by loving Him with all we've got. That was an impressively long sentence, wasn't it? Anyway, thanks for you consistent devotion. It speaks to me louder than any seminar, and longer than any post. Kidding! Kinda...

My favorite moment ("other" than all of the really great worship experience that we came for!!!!) was when my 6 year old daughter turned around (we had balcony seats)and saw that there was a projector shining the same image onto the rear balcony wall, as the image that was up on the front screen. This happened during one of Beth's vignettes (and by the way, "vignette" doesn't seem like an adequate word--Siesta Mama was doing what she does best: proclaiming the Word of the Lord...this time, it was concerning our worship of Him), anyhow--back on track...as Beth was speaking, my Mary Beth saw the image on the rear balcony wall, then she looked at me and sincerely asked, "Whoa, Mama...if you're really pretty like that, do they even let you look at yourself when you're talking on the stage at church?"

A few minutes later, I caught her with my cell phone...she was "texting" my mother, who is away on a romantic vacation with my dad at the moment. The text: "Grame (Grammy), I am hafing (having) a fun tim (time)" Mom replied, "That's great baby, but where are you?" A few minutes later, during the 2nd recording of "Jesus Saves," she had my phone, waving it around, trying to "help" the technicians record...with my cell phone! I'm sure there will be copyrights on the evening's stuff, so I snapped it shut...but I realized she'd caught about the last 2 lines and the applause after the song...it sounded really crackly, but you could tell there were people joined together in worship--so I couldn't resist...I "texted" that clip to my mom...

Mary Beth LOVES her grammy....they share a really special bond, and most of the time, if Mary Beth is really enjoying herself, the first thing she wants to do is pull out my phone and text her Grammy to let her know about it. I was so tickled to catch her attempting to text on Sunday night in the balcony! I'm glad my six year old knows there's no high like the Most High!

And, we all wanted to google that jacket you had on that afternoon. Way too cute!!!

I was able to stay witha fellow Siesta (Ocean Mommy) and Patty and Georgia. I think it was almost as good as the Governor's mansion!

And, I truly think my heart was going to explode during Angela's "Mercy Seat!" My word I have never in my life been a part of such an experience. God was THICK in there. THICK!!!

Mama Beth,
First, I haven't been able to come up with words about Mercy Seat yet. It was that powerful. I will never EVER forget it. I have vowed to make it my mission to get as many people as possible to buy Trav's CD when it comes out. It will change lives.

Second, thank you so much for surprising us at the lunch! It was such a blessing! And I have to ask, on behalf of the Siestas and several other people who have seen the pictures, WHERE ON THIS PLANET DID YOU GET THAT COAT!? Because I'm pretty sure I'm heading there THIS AFTERNOON to get one. Mercy it was cute.

Third, You spent the night in the Governor's Mansion. I just thought you needed to hear it again. Because I'm pretty sure I'd be repeating it to myself for weeks to come if it had been me.

I LOVE YOU! Thanks for adding to such a wonderful weekend!

I just have to laugh at your "highlights"... As I recall, you live life as an exclamation point. (Didn't you say that in Billings, MT?) I'm telling you, if I was able to write in my blog that I'd had quality time with Travis Cottrell and Max Lucado, it would be like the Hispanic punctuation....exclamation points before the statement, so you can tell just how excited I am, and exclamation points at the end. You'd have to dig to find the words in the middle. And even then, they'd be sorta breathless.

I'm glad you had a blessed time, and everything went well! We were just hanging on with the cute little pregnant Siesta, waiting for the good word!

Beth,

I have never commented on one of your posts before, but I couldn't let this one go by.

My daughter and I drove down from NC to the worship experience at FBC Woodstock and it was incredible! We met a blogging friend from GA there in person for the first time and I even got to meet Big Mama and Boomama! The entire night was awesome, but I agree, when Angela Cruz sang Come Running to the Mercy Seat...I have never experienced anything like that! Can't wait for the CD and DVD! To be led in worship was awesome enough, but then to be able to hear YOU speak was just icing on my spiritual cake!

I am in my 4th week of my Esther study and can I just tell you how much I LOVE you! God has truly anointed you to speak to the hearts of women!

It sounds like you had a very busy and wonderful weekend in Atlanta. Loved hearing your top 10 highlights from the weekend!

My daughter and I already have our tickets to Deeper Still in Greensboro in July and I am already praying about the message that God will be having you share with us that weekend! I can hardly wait!

I love you, my salsy Siesta!

Off to grade some Calculus papers since I don't have an excuse not to.

P.S. I was just reading the anonymous comment about what we do in our quiet times. My new book (AHHH!!!) just came out this week on that very thing.

And I just have to say that it is my quiet time with the Father each and every morning that has done more to grow my faith than anything else. As I prayed to have the kind of passion I see in you, it is through my quiet time that God has answered that prayer and grown such a love for him in my heart that I can't hardly stand it! I feel about the burst most of the time, teary-eyed and completely overwhelmed with love for him.

All that to say, I think she had a great idea!

Thank you Miss Beth and to Travis (our resident Miesta) for once again allowing God to use you to minister to thousands.

Can I just say I was so moved by Shaun Groves that we signed up for our first Compassion child, Moses is his name. How precious is that. He is the same age as three of my girls. . . one of my girls already told me she wants to write him to tell him about Jesus. . yes, Lord that's what we have been saved for. . AMEN.

Also, from one Georgia Peach, I am already asking for forgiveness for my jealousy that you got to sleep in the Governor's mansion. . how cool is that?

Thanks for the great weekend recap. It was a blessing to my weary, pregnant soul.

P. S. It was a joy to see the siestas faces when they saw mom of eleven is expecting #12!

Wow! I was not able to come to Travis' worship recording. But it sounds absolutely incredible. I am so looking forward to popping that one in my DVD player just as soon as it comes out & worshiping right along with everyone else!

Beth, you make me smile so much! In the past 3 weeks, through various studies and posts I've heard & read of yours, I've heard you say you just love, love women, you especially love single, just out of and in college girls, you especially love junior high girls, you love young girls, especially pre-adolescents, & you love babies... Each time, it's like that's your favorite! Well... you love to love us, & we love you!

Oh also, Lisa and Cheryl, and Miss Beth,
I know you waving at me and my peeps (emmy and Joni) on the other front row, when you said, " I am so happy to see y'all". I am sure it is from so many of our attempts to run and get the front row at the events we have been to.

I LOVE IT! That wave thrilled my soul.

Thanks for keeping it real. You make me love Jesus more each day!

I think some of my very favorite things about you, Sister/Mama Bethmoore, are
#1) how you make me believe that you really do love us out here!
#2) I love reading your blogs when you sound like you are totally amped on coffee. (takes one to know one)
#3)how you feel "out of place" in the President's suite...that just touched me
#4)how you have all these funny references to hair. You're such a girl! hee hee
#5)how you make me love Jesus more and more, simply by loving Him so much yourself

Oh, and Max Lucado? He totally rocks.

From this SalsySiestaSista in Oklahoma to you, thank you for everything you do. Blessings......

Oh, Beth, your way with words is AMAZING!!! I am sitting here in tears picturing the worship experience (or maybe it is the lack of oxygen to the brain due to this stinkin' cold I cannot get rid of!!!). I love bring ya to your knees, flat out, face on the floor, set your spirit flying and make ya dance worship! Absolutely NOTHING better than that!

I am so bummed that I could not be there this weekend, but I will see ya tomorrow - when we FINALLY start the Esther study at church! And, maybe, just maybe, I will get to meet your sweet self this side of Heaven ... I pray it is so!

Love you too stinkin' much!

1) girlfriend, i'm still praying about coveting your yellow jacket, so in answer to your question, yes, i'll take it. ;) haha cept i'm pretty sure it's not gonna fit over the childbearing hips our sweet Lord so graciously bestowed upon me. (i have no children at the moment, but the only explanation i can see for them-the hips-is that he's planning on giving me a lot of them.) :D

2) i'm so jealous and happy that you got to see both shelly AND that kathy younce in the same weekend. ok, probably mostly jealous.

3) thanks for holding stick-Abby in the picture. her face-sake thanks you :)

4) we are doing this thing at church where we're supposed to keep up with our expenses (to ultimately help us evaluate where our money is going.) then i find out today they have new tazo tea lattes at *bucks. YA.HOO.JAH. :) (and OOPS.)

Beth, we (me and my best friend) were there and it was amazing. i actually blogged about it today. I would have LOVE to have met you! I feel like such a part of your family! I saw Melissa and almost went and said hello, but it was at the end and by the time I almost made my way over to her she had left.

I did meet Travis and I told him that if heaven was even a fraction of what that night was then I can't wait to get there - TRUE AUTHENTIC WORSHIP is what was there. I also asked him to text you to come down where we were . . . seriously. . . he said you were probably on your way home:)

WOW at spending the night in the gov's mansion. We met him too. So sweet and very genuine.. . he is a former homeschooling parent and I am currently homeschooling. He expressed such appreciation and respect for homeschoolers. He invited us to bring our kids to the capital. Very, very sweet. I'm so glad a God-fearing man is governor of our state.

Thanks for your update. So glad you had a great weekend!

Loved hearing your top 10! Adore Andy Stanley too- my husband and I just listened to his series Big Faith! So cool about the Governors Mansion! Did you all get to skate in your socks?

So sad we missed the "Southern Siesta" luncheon!" One day I am going to get to hug and thank you in person for the gift you have been in my life! But we were thrilled to have you wave to us too during worship! Just made our day! (I was with Wendy-Mom of Eleven(12) and Joni and JMom from Lots of Scotts) We had a ball! And I slept in the Abraham Lincoln bedroom, and it wasn't his bed or anything like that, it was just because his PICTURE is on the wall! (Last year I stayed in the Presidential suite, but this weekend there was NO ONE ELSE who could have stayed in that room but BETH MOORE!) She ruled that room - I wish y'all could have seen her "prancing" around in there...she owned it! She had to be hoisted up on the bed with her little petite self...

As someone who has loved and respected Beth for over 10 years, it was a "highlight" of my heart to spend time with her and precious Melissa - whom I adore. That young woman is gifted AND beautiful! She and Colin are so precious together.

God's grace is all over you, Beth. You had so much to do ALL weekend, and yet you are so gracious to everyone, taking time to give a hug, talk to someone - and truly listen. You really listen and you don't miss a thing!!! And you are beautiful!

Thank you for speaking so well of Gov. & Mrs. Perdue - REAL attracts REAL - and that's what all of you are - Real sojourners - living lives for Jesus! Sonny brought in Beth & Melissa's luggage - and he is the epitome of a Southern gentleman! And Mary puts the lady in First Lady!

Beth - If us Siestas make YOU laugh, then multiply that a kazillion times for all the joy and laughter YOU have brought to us!

I love all the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Siestas. I am so honored I got to hug on y'all Sunday night. You are joyful and joy-filled. You bless me.

The WORSHIP was a foretaste of glory divine. Travis Cottrell knows how to bring you into worship - the songs, the new, the old hymns...and Angela Cruz singing "Running" was anointed.

Shaun Groves blessed my soul. My husband and I are going to sponsor a little 6 year old boy who lives in Colombia. I can't wait.

I have to run - I have nursery duty at church tonight, and then choir rehearsal too -

Much Love Always,
Georgia Jan "GJ"

So very glad you liked the Gevalia coffee. I am gleeful when it arrives in the mail! I will buy other off-brand items to keep myself in Gevalia coffee. It is a D-E-L-I-G-H-T!

(That may be the longest sentence I ever wrote.) Thank you for being REAL enough to reach out and touch the many "Siestas in Cristo" who read your blog. God has used you and your Bible studies so powerfully in my life -- my greatest ambition in life is to have one-millionth the impact on others that you have had on so many, including me. On a serious note, I just had to make a comment about the Mercy Seat song.....I heard it for the first time at Deeper Still in Atlanta...I must say, it is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard! I came home and bought it off ITunes, but I must say no one sounds quite like Angela.....so, record it! :)

At breakfast with Lysa TerKeurst the next morning we got to talking about weird hotel experiences and I remembered you telling the story somewhere about checking into the room with the dead person in the bed. Lysa was a bit creeped out by that one!!

Oh, and if the Governor's Mansion was that cool, imagine the mansion being prepared for you in heaven!!

Beth - Im so glad that your time in ATL was wonderful. But the point of my comment is this - I just went to my Esther study today and saw the video on mean girls. Can I just tell you how that resonated wildly completely with the women in the group (of Im sure at least a couple hundred) - especially when you mentioned women who dress provocativly in front of their husbands. It was insane! (In a good way).

Can I also just tell you that I dont personally have any friends that walk around flaunting themselves in front of my husband, but (living in CA where the weather is mostly good and many people exercise outside) often especially in the spring/summer my husband will ask me to be more accommodating to him in the bedroom bc there are so many women walking around half naked. Well, I could go on, but Im sure you see my point.

Blessings to you - you are such a gifted and wonderful person and example. Thank you for being so obedient to our Lord.

Oh Beth! Let me tell you! I have been filled with the spirit of God this past weekend that I can't even type! This has been so amazing to experiance because this has been a very teenage dramatic time in my life with friends and first boyfriends, and bible study with all these older women I don't know how to relate to!! It's crazy but I'm loving it! In fact, I'm thinking about calling you Wanda from now on. ;D But let me tell you. It's so funny to me but ever since that FBC Woodstock luncheon that you popped into to.. (I was the younger one who randomly asked for a hug after we moved the table. lol) I doubt you remember me, but ever since then.. when I see you on video I squeel to myself and think.. "I HUGGED HER!" then I just have to giggle to myself, because no one but my mom knows!

I love you Beth and I'm so thankful for your Ester study. It has come into my life when I seriously needed it. & even though I may find it hard for me and 18 year old to connect to older women, it is a humbling experience.

LOVE YOU!

Beth,
Through a sweet gift from God this MN girl was in Atlanta Sunday night. The 75 degree temperature change was reason enough to start singing praises as we got off the plane. :)

Thank you for graciously accepting a MN hug and for sweetly extending a TX one. To have the opportunity to tell you thank you for ALL that you do was truly an answer to prayer. The words thank you seem so small, but they are HUGE in my heart.

And Travis, and the choir, and Cindy, and the praise team and, and, and...it was anointed...truly. I'm not sure worship will ever be the same.

Bless you,

Since there are so many ATL girls on here, can I ask for advice? I am new to the Woodstock/ Roswell/ East Cobb triangle. I loved the worship at Woodstock Baptist Sunday night and would love to go to a church with that strong of a music ministry, because that is what I grew up with. I have attended a few services there and like it, but it is too big for my dear husband. He is used to smaller churches. We are thinking we could find a church to fit us both in the 500-1000 size. The church has to have good music and be a solid church with some good family ministries. We tend to go toward Baptist or non-denominational. I know this isn't really the time or place, but thought you could help a siesta out. Thanks for any help. Katie

But I'm looking at the joyous side. If I'm jobhunting in a few weeks, it could just be that my "inhairitance" is getting a divine makeover. :- )

Wow, I had no idea you had a weekend like that!
I would have loved to be at the luncheon too. While I was waiting for everything to get started I was looking around me and wondering if there were any other Siestas close by! I should have ask I guess.

My husband went with me and he totally understands now why my daughter, daughter-in-law and I love to hear you and Travis! It was a very moving experience for us both to share with each other.
We also sponsored one of the children that Shaun spoke about. I guess God really spoke to me because my hand went up without even thinking about it and we now are going to be getting to know the cutest little girl! I can't wait to get letters from her and to send her some back reminding her that God does indeed love and cherish her!
Beth, please talk to Travis and y'all come back to GA and let's do it again!

I had such a wonderful day Sunday with those of you I met and got to spend time with!

I didn't get to hug you, Beth, or THANK YOU for helping me forgive my ex-husband and my sister, so please let me tell you here: I thank you so much for your ministry and what you've done to help so many like myself. Thank you for letting Him use you.

I'm the one who is too shy to ever go up and ask for a hug or try to talk to you... you'd probably have to seek me out if we're ever meant to have a conversation. So, for this side of Heaven, here's a giant ((hug)) from me.

Beth, your surprise was so sweet -- thank you for popping in on us! My daughter Emily (she's 8) has been begging me for a year to take her with me to a LPM conference and I've always told her no. She reads the blog with me, and watches you on Wednesdays with me, and has seen several of your videos with me here at home. She even quotes scripture to her classmates when they misbehave! Since we live here and go to FBCW, I let her come to lunch with me that day as a special treat.
I know you probably wouldn't remember in the craziness of that 20 minutes, but you hugged her to you and gave her a kiss -- that meant more to me than if you'd have hugged me! Thank you for being so sweet to her.

Much love from Georgia,
lavonda

I debated whether or not to leave this comment, and I did send one to the LPM website. Not sure which is better to do. Anyway, Beth Moore has been my Bible study leader for many years as I have followed my husband all over the country (5 moves in 5 years of marriage!) and didn't have a local group to meet with always. Anyway, I finally figured that I would want to tell my local Bible study leader, and I wanted to tell her too and ask for prayer.

I am pregnant with conjoined twins who are not expected to live if they even make it to delivery. God is completely faithful, and I have been so blessed by Him during this time, but I just wanted to share it with y'all and ask for your prayers. I have a site that gives more information if anyone is interested. It is: http://www.carepages.com/carepages/AnnaandEmma

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you.

In Christ,

I don't know that you will have time to read all the comments or read mine, because I know there are so many. Thank you for the recap of the Atlanta weekend. You and your girls make us feel like family. I think what I love so much about you is that you are SO real, SO authentic and just dang Fun! :-) You make us desire Jesus more with every breath. For that alone, but for many more reasons, YOU are loved so deep down, words can't adequately express it.

Beth, enjoyed you top 10. I know exactly how you feel about walking into FBC Woodstock it is awesome. I will be there on the 11th - 13th of Feb for the Real Evangelism conference this is my 4th trip over. Two days and three glorious nights with some of the most awesome men of God bring his word and some of the greatest choirs you could ever wish to hear. When they lead in worship and everyone is sing in one accord you would think you could hear the angels in heaven stepping back to listen. So looking forward to the trip. I will have to give a run down about it on my blog when we get back. Keep us in your prayers as we travel from Gadsden AL to Woodstock.

I'm not kidding around here, you all look terrific and when I went to good ole San Antone, it was...shall I say a hair-raising experience? In fact, we were almost late because I was in such desperate need of hair ministry! Please let us know when the worship CD comes out! Will it be on I-tunes? We have a few songs at church that now that I think about it, make me want to run laps, too. I think the next time we sing one I'm going to tell my husband I need to take a lap for the Lord. I am so excited to say this to him I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait until one of those songs is sung.

Thank you for the joy you spread. You're so much fun! Oh, and if you ever find out the name of the Mercy Seat/Running song, could you tell us?? Thank you!

What I enjoyed most was watching everyone worship in their comfort zone...it was funny when Shawn said to clap like the "Baptist", then said let's make believe we're "Pentecostal" and make a louder noise! Cracked me up cause I'm one of the loud ones!! Isn't is wonderful that we can all worship and praise HIM and there's really no difference among us when it comes to loving HIM! I believe that's the way it will be when we all get to heaven, a beautiful BLEND of all of us!! May the Lord Bless you Always as you continually BLESS others!! Love you mucho! Carmen :o)

Beth,
This post has nothing to do with yours but I just had to get it on here. I went to the first night of the Esther study last night and I was absolutely amazed at the way God was speaking to me through you. I have been going through my own "dark night of the soul". I lost my precious Daddy unexpectedly on December 13. God undoubteldy carried me through those first few days but I have felt like he left at the same time all of the rest of the people cleared out of my house. I am hanging in there KNOWING that God is with me but simply not feeling His presence with me. Then a friend of mine lost a baby yesterday. She was about 16 weeks into a surprise preganancy. I admit I was (more than) a little angry with God yesterday. I just don't see the "Why's" lately. I know that I am not always supposed to know why but just to trust. Anyway the precious lady who normally leads the studies had asked me to pass out the books, have everyone introduce themselves and then play the video because she had a family emergency. I told God on the way that I didn't even feel worthy to pass out the books at this study but that I would trust in Him. Needless to say I was blown away that I felt as if you were talking straight to me during most of the video. Thanks Mama Beth for allowing God to use you to touch so many women. You are a major blessing in my life! My family always gets tickled when I talk about "Beth" as if you are someone I talk with all the time. Love ya siesta!

As a member of FBC Woodstock since 1990, let me just say that this past weekend was definitely in my top 10 of all the best experiences we've had there in the nearly 20 years I've had the privilege of worshipping with folks I dearly love. I am biased, I know, but there is just no other leader like Johnny Hunt. He's been my pastor since I was 16 years old and there is no one on earth who has instilled a passion for God and His Word like my own pastor. I'm still tickled pink that you got to experience a little of what God is doing there, and I'm ecstatic that I got to be there Sunday for a very unique time of worship. WOW. And, don't get me started on our governor. We admire him and Ms. Mary more than words can express. They are the real deal. They invest in people like you wouldn't believe. The only disappointment was to find out that there was a Siesta Luncheon and I never knew! :-( One of these days we'll get together...if not here, I'll meet you by the Crystal Sea and we'll talk about our Savior and our love for coffee and our hair issues and the Word, I'm sure. ;-)

Beth, Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog!! I nearly fainted when I clicked over to link to someone's blog from my comments and saw your sweet picture! My husband thought I was stretching the truth (I'm sure by my post you can't imagine why he'd think that!) so I had to pull out one of your Bible Studies to show him a picture of you. (Beloved Disciple happened to be the first one I came to)

I had been praying for some direction on some things and was hoping through the events of Sunday, God would help me in those areas. It did. He did!

Thank you for being so real, so "let your hair down", and for being such a great mom and Godly example to your girls. We don't all have that in our "real life", but I know that I can click here and feel that I'm part of your siesta family and that I do have a line of communication to a godly "Siesta Mama" .

It was truly my pleasure to meet you and to be a part of Sunday's events and of this blog family!

You are so real and yet over the years of doing your Bible Studies, (nine years this year) you have shown me and inspired me to love our LORD, worship our LORD and love our LORD in a way I find hard to express. HE is so awesome!!!!
I live in MI so I envy you Georgia girls having a Governor and First Lady that love the Lord!!! I must admit there are times I feel like I live in the darkest state in the nation. Yet, when the sun shines and the blue skies and green grass appear (for the few months they do)I feel like I am in heaven. The air is so clear and the colors so vivid I can't imagine Heaven being any brighter.....Didn't mean to ramble.....One more thing, we are having a heat wave today - going to be in the 20's and maybe make the 30's by the weekend......YAY!
Travis is without a doubt "gifted" and he uses it to glorify our Lord.
Thanks Travis!!!!
Blessings to all you Siesta's.....
