Siesta Group Picture

If she didn't have a Bible study class to teach tonight, I know Bethie would be on here right now talking about how much fun she had meeting so many Siestas in Atlanta. (You almost got a post from her last night but she decided to cook dinner for us instead. Sorry, but it was really good!) She told me she had a blast and that all of you were hilarious. Thanks to Lisa/The Preacher's Wife and my co-worker KMac for supplying pictures.

Miesta Moose made an appearance!

I'm now 17 days away from my due date, but who's counting? It's not like I'm getting impatient or anything! I had an ultrasound yesterday and Baby Girl looks great. Today I got my highlights done, so we are one step closer to being ready. Y'all, I went into the salon as prepared as possible. I didn't take a pickle jar or a bottle of Sprite, but on this very spring-like day I did take a big jacket to tie around my waist if necessary. Thank you for that tip! The princess got a little excited while my hair was getting foiled and I was just praying she wouldn't knock anything loose! I cannot think of worse timing than to have chemicals and aluminum in one's hair when labor begins. I don't want to scare my daughter when she sees me for the first time. I'd rather her first thought be that, indeed, she has a beautiful inhairitance. (Ps. 16:6, ESV) (That was for my mom, whose love language is speaking in puns.)

I need to get ready to pick up my boy from mother's day out, but I have to share this real quick. Last night Curt was getting Jackson ready for bed and I overheard him ask if he'd ever seen an angel. Jackson said, "Yes." Then Curt said, "Well, what did the angel look like?" Jackson said, "Mommy." Is that not so precious? Don't think VVPG didn't almost start crying! Y'all have a great Tuesday!

I can't begin to tell you how much fun it was this weekend! Thanks, Beth, for popping in and giving us all such a surprise! We were all a big ol' bunch of happy cloggers, er, BLOGGERS! :o)

Love to you all and we missed you VVPG!

Almost start crying!!? Were there enough tissues in the house. What a precious family you have. I get a healthy dose of wishing-I-was-there for all the events ya'll do. But I am stuck on the West Coast. Darn!
I am really excited for you guys, and can't wait till you post pics (but don't feel obligated, we are lucky when you share your lives, you don't have to.)
Tell Beth I am starting slow on my memorizing, but feeling lead to dive deeper into memorizing scripture and reading the bible; I also started Believing God the other night; really good.
I do have a question Beth; Which comes first, the Breaking Free or the Believing God?
Just wondering?

Blessings in Him of health, joy, peace and comfort (AJ)

Oh girl, the angel comment by Jackson is one you need to type up beautifully and frame because, me being one not to mince words or anything, one day you will need to remember these precious times when he is a moody, hormonal 13 year old boy who thinks he is smarter than his parents and that everything that you ask him to do is punishment! :) I'm just sayin'!

In all fairness, my 13 year old is an absolute gentleman and I love him with every ounce of my being. But if I told you that raising boys gets easier, I would be lyin'!

Loved the "inhairitance" remark. Very Living Proofish! :)

Have a great day and are you really carrying around a pickle jar???? :)

Blessings,

How in the WORLD did anyone get to meet and take a picture with Bethmoore???? I searched for her. And I mean SEARCHED!!! Felt like a part of the paparazzi taking pictures of her from the audience. I SO wanted a picture. I was even hoping that maybe we'd run in to her at Dairy Queen or something after the concert!!!! So sad :(

VVPG...we are so glad that you made it through your highlights without going into labor! Now, if you can just make it to your pedicure appointment and not have a splash down you will indeed be THE most gorgeous Mom on the delivery floor! ;)

Also! While we have your attention! Do not forget to take your cell phone, charger, camera, batteries, laptop and laptop cord! We MUST have pictures of Baby Girl ASAP! Got it!? Make sure Darling Hubby get the memo too!

LOL! ;)

Hey VVPG, I'll be praying for you and for Jackson too. The hardest part for me was always wondering how the "big kids" at home were doing without their momma, but so far, they've survived each time.

****SIESTAS!!****

I have a favor to ask!

One of my dear friends recently had to move 10 hours away from her home for her husband's new job. It was a sudden and unexpected move--and she had been living happily in her house for 20+ years. She has 6 beautiful children, 4 that she is still homeschooling.

The favor is this:

She was hoping to start doing the new Esther study at her home church but the move obviously makes that a little difficult (read: impossible). But like the lovely trusting woman that she is, she bought herself an Esther book and has been praying to find a group of ladies to study with. So far, nothing.

She now lives in SAVAGE, MINNESOTA --yes, capitalized to catch your attention! (where, I might add, they know no one). So if you know of anyone in that area who is doing the Esther study, please contact me or leave another comment so I can let her know. Her sweet heart is just aching and I would so appreciate anyone who could help her feel more at home.

Thank you so much ladies!

What a lovely Story - pre-schoolers really are the best! My little girl (just 3) is just beginning to ask questions about God and the bible, and it is such a privaledge to explain stuff to her! Also she likes to play a game where she is the mommy and I am the baby and it is moving beyond description to see how tender and loving she is to me, and to realise that is what she thinks of me!!!

Praying for you and your family as you wait for the birth of your little princess. Praying especially for Little Man Jackson,as it can sometimes be hard to have to start sharing your angel momma and Daddy.

They can't help it, to be perfectly honest I don't even think they can smell it. Their little faces are still sweet and you learn to deal with it. Lol! It does go away, eventually!

Lots of love and prayer!

That is so sweet that you were able to overhear that conversation and that your son said you look like an angel. I think I might have cried had I heard that from one of mine and I'm not even pregnant! That's good that you made it out of the chemicals and foil without going into labor, that would've been something trying to get you unwrapped and rinsed before running to the hospital!

What did he say the angel looked like?
Someone once told me that the believed that the reason their baby stared off at what seemed like nothing so much was that she was still seeing her angel from heaven. I know there is no real proof of this but it IS a sweet thought!

What a little man you have!! With a heart the size of Texas, no less...and the eyes to get what ever his big ol heart desires! He's going to be a great big brother.

Now that your highlights are fresh, that's one fear that's been taken care of before the princess' arrival! I think the jacket is a perfect solution, but make sure that if it's a warm day in Houston that it's just a windbreaker! I'll never forget when I was 4 months pregnant with my daughter we were living in No. Dakota (an Air Force assignment). In January I had to travel to Houston to be with my Dad when he had surgery. I left ND in 15 degrees BELOW zero temperature. By the time I got to Houston it was 35, which I realize is very cold for Texas! I went to the hospital to see my Dad with no jacket on and the nurses had a hissy fit! They told me I was harming my baby because it was too cold to be without warm clothes. I reminded them that it was 50 degrees warmer than where I was earlier that morning and I was HOT!!! Guess it's all relavant!

Beth, I'm glad you had a good time in GA and gave those Siestas a surprise visit. What a double blessing they got. Enjoy tonights study, I'll be praying for you and the ladies in attendance. I sure wish I had signed up for this one. It's a little over an hour drive to your church and I wasn't sure I could make all the classes so I didn't want to take a seat that someone else could fill every week. I'm sure it's worth the drive!

Gig'em & God Bless, Bobbie

Blessings to you all

What a precious boy that Jackson is! Out of the mouths of babes...

I could just have a right good pout because I haven't been to an event with the Siestas! Oh well, maybe 2009 will bring a chance to meet some of you!

Hugs to all of you!

What a fun gathering and surprise for the Atlanta Siestas on Sunday!!!

And Amanda, I'm so glad that you recorded Jackson's comment about you as an angel. That is a keeper for sure.

PS. Though theologically impossible, I think he's right- You are an angel to all of us:)

I almost started crying myself. Do enjoy these precious moments. They are little for such a short time.

Moose, I'm looking forward to you coming home, buddy. I see you are in good hands. I know you have always had a "thing" for Beth. You'll have to settle for seeing her once or twice a year. Sadly, me too.

Your sweet little Jackson! That is just one of the most precious things I've ever heard. I would have been sobbing if I were 9 months pregnant and my baby said that. Way to hold it together, girl!

Atlanta was 675 different kinds of awesome and I'm SO happy your sweet Mama had a few extra minutes to pop in on us.

LOTS OF LOVE!

Wish I had benn thee, too. Looks like fun.
I totally understand the "momma" impatience. I gave birth last year on Feb. 1. It could not have come fast enough. Not just feeling soooooo huge, but just couldn't wait to see the little guy. He was a month early, but weighed 7 lbs. Can't believe the year is almost gone. He and his brother are our joy second only to Christ. Can't wait to hear that your little bundle has arrived.
Almost forgot, my friend downloaded one of Beth's lessons on her husband's MP3 player. She had not gotten her's yet. He has been fussing at her asking why is "Betty Moore" talkig on his Ipod. We have laughed and laughed and now Beth is loving our "Betty Moore."

Great pics!

Your telling about having your hair foiled and then fearing going into labor at that moment reminded me of the old Disney movie "Fifth Avenue Irregulars". It made me think of the part where Cloris Leachman's character was getting her hair highlighted with a cap. She gets a call to help capture some crooks and jumps in her car with her hair still pulled through the cap and a cape still around her neck. Her fingernails are very long and well manicured. She wrecks her car, breaks several nails and that causes her to go into a rage. Woe be to the crooks! Hilarious!

Well, this is one worry behind you :)

Blessings.

OK- Amanda - are you playing with me? Did you add that close-up photo of Miesta Moose? Because that was not on the original post that I viewed. First of all, Amanda, you just have to love on that boy, don't you?!?! That blessed my heart and I know it did yours.

As far as Sunday, I don't even know that I can put it in to words.... I am sad that I missed the siestas and didn't get to meet Bethmoore, but after a few minutes, I forgot all that and had one of the most worshipful nights of my life. It was me and God and I praised him from where I was in my life, with my whole being. I'm just glad that the rest of you got to enjoy it too. LOL :)

If the worship on that one night was that good, CAN Y'ALL EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE WHAT WORSHIP WILL BE LIKE IN HEAVEN!!!!!

Travis brought the Lord some praise Sunday night!! One of my favorite moments came at the end of one particularly moving song as Beth was being so sensitive to God's moving before she spoke. In that stillness, a little boy no older than your Jackson spoke right behind me in a rather loud voice, "Mom, she looks like a giraffe!" Of course he must have been speaking of her DARLIN' jacket, but it was hysterical! I'm convinced God cracked up too!

This is completely off the subject but I started Esther last week and Beth talks about the XX chromosomes. I couldn't help but notice that the two XX's side by side make a diamond shape in the middle. No wonder diamonds are a Girls best friend, well Jesus really is in my world but I do love alittle bling now and then. No wonder we love diamonds so, It is in our genes.Love the the study so far. And Amanda,I had a friend who carried a towel with her everywhere her last tri-semester. I have to admit I got tickled every time she brought that thing out. It was a VVPG's security blanket.

What a joy it was to meet you this Sunday and so many of my other Siesta's. It was a time that will forever be etched in my memory. I think my personal favorite was the worship we had with you right there by us. You were a little higher but you purposefully made eye contact with us and we knew you were worshipping with your siestas the closest you could!!
Continuing to lift you up as you follow Him into all that He has for you and as you become Bibby to a little mini siesta!

I loved the "inhairitance"!! Still makes me laugh. It also reminded me of something my 6 y.o. son said the other day. He and his father were reading in the book of John and they began discussing the disciples. When my son was asked if he could remember any of the disciples he replied, "Judas the Scariest". We've chuckled about it ever since.

You know I distinctly remember studying the Five Love Languages and I don't remember puns being one of them, but I always did think that Gary Chapman forgot a few when he wrote that book. When my sunday school class got the book I flipped through frantically and then frowned sullenly. I said, "My love languages aren't in here! I see nothing about chocolate and shopping!" Actually it sort of is. It's called receiving gifts and that is one of my love languages. The other one is words of affirmation. I told my husband I'm easy to please. All you have to do is buy me stuff and tell me how wonderful I am. My daughter has a shirt that says, "Buy me something...And I'll be nice." I think I should try to find a shirt like that for me. My
husband has 2 also. His are physical touch and acts of service. You know what that means! All the laundry and dishes done and the house spotless and then I still have to have enough energy left for you know what. I'm telling you. I think I'm way easier to please. My need for physical touch was almost non-existent on the test and his need for gifts was almost non-existent. Doesn't that just figure. We're nothing alike I tell you.

It lifted me up to hear a son call his mommy his angel...I almost cried. I have 2 sons that are not saved and would appreciate anyone praying for them.

I'm new to your ministry Beth and love what you teach...the stories that really hit home and lift me up in my relationship with Jesus Christ.

I wish you could be on TV daily but know that is very expensive.

I heard you on TV this week telling the story of you going down stairs to a bathroom and the power going out. You were scared and your husband came and you held out your hands and he came to you.

You then said that God is waiting for us to hold out our hands and he'll come to us. I just keep thinking of that and that's the desire of my heart.

I've had some issues about not trusting men and sometimes it's hard to believe that God could love me unconditionally...that's my prayer that somehow God will show me in some small way that He is always with me and will not leave me...

Thanks again for your ministry.

If you have any kind of regular emails sent to us, I would like to be on that mailing list.

In Christ, Darlene
