You Get an A!
Hi siestas! My mom is getting ready for Bible study tonight, so I have the honor of announcing the winner of our Pop Quiz. I used an online random integer generator to pick the winner. I'd have a picture of the number on my computer screen for you like I've seen BooMama do, but my camera battery died! Oh well. Get to the point, right?
The winner of the ESV Study Bible is Lauri Wasmuth!
*Applause and cheers for Lauri*
Bethie was so proud of all your comments that she wanted to give out five more prizes. The winners will receive the devotional book John: 90 Days With the Beloved Disciple.
Our next five winners are:
1) Christine at "Christine's Corner"
2) Trish Wagner
3) Sue in Las Vegas
4) Gene54
5) Twinkle
*Applause and cheers for these five siestas*
Thanks for playing ladies! Have a wonderful Tuesday!

The Journey Continues ~
Congratulations to the "6" Siesta's who won the challenge!
I have been out of town and computerless for over 12 days! I have missed reading and hearing about LivingProof! It has been a treat catching up!
Well, I need to go take the guts out of the pumpkin and bake some punkin seeds in the oven!
Happy Harvest Blessings to all!

What a wonderful idea !! I loved reading each and every one of the comments. I agree with the blogger who said this would make a great devotional !!!! Are you going to post the winning comments ? That would be cool.. thanks for your encouragement at LPM... jill
Congrats to the winners! This was AWESOME and, just like Beth said, it was like eating off each others' plates...I was plum full up on Jesus by the time I was done. :o)
Hugs all around the Siesta kingdom this day, with the love of the King,
Melinda
I agree the posting would make a great devotional. I read and cried and laughed and shook my head yes and no. What fun. I was at work and didn't get to post but that was great reading.
Congratulations ladies.!
Looking forward to the next fun episode.
Pam in Southern Indiana
I loved that Pop Quiz. I so would have done it even without the prizes. Give us more of those. Pleeeeeeease...
Yippee for those who won!
I so enjoyed doing this post, but also gained so much as I read the other scriptures and insights today! I feel like I got to 'know' others of you from this fun activity.
Be blessed!
Congrats ladies!!!
I too loved reading all the scriptures God blessed my siestas with in their private devotions. For a fleeting moment the sinful flesh in me (ashamed to admit it) wanted to fake it and give a scripture. so glad I didn't!! What did happen was I woke up this morning and had my private time with the Lord. HE IS MY PRIZE!!!!
Congratulations Lauri! Curtis had one in class last week and we learned something about it. Too cool.
Congrats to the other ladies as well.
Amanda and Beth this was the best.
Can't wait to see what the next thing will be for the Siestas in Siestaville.
Much love and many blessings. See ya at class tonight. :o)

I think, gifts aside, that sharing our morning time verse once a week or once a month is a great way to learn verses. Just reading over some of them was so encouraging to me and I absolutely loved it.
Congrats, Siestas!
YAY!!! Congratulations, ladies! And thanks, Beth and Amanda! What a great encouragement this was!!!
Congrats to all the winning Siestas! I hope you delight in your gifts!
I was very tempted to enter yesterday by quickly getting in the Word and making up something. But, thankfully, God kept me in truth and kept me from commenting (which is a task since I have way too many words!). I would've felt guilty every time I opened any Bible if I had!! It was soooooo refreshing to read all the comments. I think I needed 99% of them personally!
And, thank ya'll for saying no condemnation to those who hadn't gotten to the Word yesterday morning. WOW, I really would love one of those new Bibles. It seems to be everywhere I turn!!
I missed the fun, but need to share from yesterday's Quiet Time--
Psalm 21:1 O Lord, in Thy strength the king will be glad, And in Thy salvation how greatly he will rejoice. NASB
Then I looked up the word "glad" in Zodiahates and have written in the margin of my Bible--
glad-samah-to rejoice, to be joyful, to be glad, to gloat.
Isn't that awesome?! I get to gloat in the strenth of the Lord. Oh, He is good!
Congratulations, Siestas! Like anonymous at 11:29 said, I loved reading the comments and hearing what other people are learning. It encourages me to press on in my own study...
With my competitive nature, I wanted to win the new Bible and then I realized, wait I got mine through Amazon on the 15th and don't need two! I am so excited to have it and I think I have been in the word almost everyday, something I enjoy anyway! It is so great. With the purchase you also get free online access to the ESV Bible too. I expect this to be one of the last Bibles I "need." The notes are awesome!
Congrats to all!!!!
Congrats to the winner!
Happy Tuesday!
Congrats, Siestas! I sooo enjoyed reading the comments. The Lord had us all over His word! LOVE IT!!
Blessings!
Teresa
Way to go Siesta's!
Congrats!! How fun! I missed the entry, b/c I didn't check the blog yesterday. I will go catch up!
P.S. Jenny, I love that you are going to stalk Lifeway. Haha!
Applauding and Cheering!!!
I didn't see the pop quiz till 15 minutes after it closed. That's ok. One (and there are many!) of the things that Beth has encouraged me to do is....have a MORNING QT!! It has been wonderful...and such a blessing to me.
How did she get me to do it? She said "His mercies are new every morning...Who couldn't use some new mercy every morning?!"
Congrats again, ladies!
Melana in Wyoming
I LOVED the pop quiz!! That was the highlight of my day yesterday! I kept coming back to the computer to read the rest of the responses!
Thank you for thinking of it, and congrats to the lucky winners!!
Congrats, girls! I LOVED the comments on that post..Just bummed I missed the five hour window..:)
Can't wait to get my hands on that Bible. I had it picked up at LifeWay the other day but as usual, I was on sensory overload. Am I the only one who will fill her basket, get overwhelmed at how much it's all going to cost, not know which to choose, and end up putting it all back?
Freakish, I know.
Woo Hoo!! Congrats y'all!!
I just wanted to leave a comment and say that I just started Stepping Up last night with some women from my church and I am just SO excited about this study. I just want to thank Beth and her Living Proof Ministry for being obedient to the Lord and writing and teaching us God's word. I literally got FACE DOWN on the floor today and I cannot tell you how sweet of a time I had with my Savior during my quiet time. Praise God.... yeeee haaaaw!
Yay for the winners! Yay--'cause everyone received something--some manna from the Lord.
Praying for Beth tonight.
Love,
Holly
I also loved reading all of the comments yesterday, and also participating. I think this would be a great thing to do once per week. Hey, I may just start doing it on my own blog (without the giveaway). I wouldn't have 300+ comments like Mrs. Beth had, but it would be a lot of fun to read the comments that the 4-5 people that DO read my blog had :)
Can anyone tell me about the ESV version? Is it a translation or a paraphrase? I tend to not like the paraphrases, and I know that some of the translations have been scewed in recent years to be more "feminist friendly". Just wondering if anyone can tell me about this one...... you can leave comments at my blog or leave them here. Thanks!!!!

Congratulations to all the winning siestas! Contests make life so exciting! Of course, it helps if you remember the directions before you post! I resubmitted mine because I hadn't kept it to one sentence, then recalled I wasn't supposed to submit but once. Dang! Can I blame that on menopause??? LOL!
I'm sad that I missed the quiz. I did really enjoy reading all of the posts that everyone shared. They were very inspirational to me. I thought I would share a scripture that God gave me a couple of months ago.
A few years ago I went through a period of betrayal, rejection, hurt, and deception by someone very close to me. It was THE MOST difficult thing I've ever had to deal with but I clung to the LORD and he was there with me the entire time(a few years) I was crying my eyes out over my broken heart.
I am happy to say that within the past 6 months things have been better and there has been much healing in this relationship. God has been so good to me.
Anyway, sometimes I find myself remembering one of those painful days or have a bad memory pop up in my mind and I would have to struggle to not get angry and let the hurt crush me again.
So this is what God gave me. I treasure it and I read it everytime that old hurt comes around again. It speaks so much to the exact thougts I was having.
"Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wastland." Isaiah 43:18-19
I must praise Him that he would love and care for each of us in such a deep and personal way.
I am thankful that I read the blog today. :)
Susan
I agree with everyone else, this was a really great pop quiz though I didn't get into it in time to do it... the comments were awesome. I would love to have it again... a pop quiz like this... and yes, there doesn't have to be a prize at all... the prize was being able to read how God has been moving in everyone's lives!
Love to you all,
Heather
I'm with jennyhope, I am going to go get my own ESV study Bible! I read every one of the comments because it was like reading "Daily Light" with a twist. Thank you everyone that participated, because it made me feel hopeful that the LORD is still working in individual lives and in His Church as a whole. Love you all-
Lisa in Kirkland, WA
An extra thought, I agree with siesta oc who said, prizes aside, it was very encouraging even once a month to just hear how and what God is saying. Very cool!
Lisa in Kirkland, WA
THANK YOU!
I am a WINNER!
You know that picture of you, Beth, jumping up in the air in New York...that's how I feel right now! I have testimony after testimony about John, The Beloved Disciple Bible study. It was an awesome study! And I will love receiving the devotional!
Thanks for the "A" and I'm pretending I got a "star," too...
Congrats to all the winners! I haven't had the chance to read all of the posts yet, but will very soon I hope!
Congratulations Siestas!!!
You all are so creative and fun! Ya'll get an A+
congratulations to all the winners
there are some deep thinkers out there - loved the personal commentary on the verses
Congratulations sisters! "The Beloved Disciple" was one of my favorite studies. Beth, thanks again for the opportunity to share. I hope we can do this again soon. No prizes necessary. I also hope I'm not the only one who doesn't know what the acronym ESV stands for? When I was out shopping, obviously not at Lifeway, I looked for a copy, but was unable to get my hands on one so I couldn't look at the title page and find out. I have a new nephew due to arrive this weekend and was looking for a first Bible to give to him. Any suggestions?
Thanks again and blessings to you,

PS: loved Mitzi's comment - thanks for your honesty and courage.
What an awesome idea for a post, and I loved gleaning from everyone's devotional time! I was off-line most of the day, so I didn't get to post, but I sure don't feel like I missed out - instead I was given a blessing!!!
Congratulations to all the winners and one of my special friends, Deborah (Twinkle) was a winner too!!!
We attended the Siesta Fiesta together and had a marvelous time!
May God bless ALL you siestas!
I love y'all,

Hey Ladies,
Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for the six of you that won! Isn't winning something, just once in a while, such a blast of fun! I pray that the gifts find their way to you and are just want you need!
Blessings to you,

Congrats to all the winners! Reading all of the posts on the pop quiz post was like a devotional in itself.

Blessings to all the winners !
It was fun to read all of Y'all's answers to Miss Beth's questions. Unfortunately, I was upstairs in bed with a fever and bad cold, and it still lingers on... But, I do know who my Great Physician is, as He is my Comforter, too...

To Sue in Las Vegas, Congratulations!! My sister lives in Vegas too! She needs a "Siesta" in Christ & I'd LOVE for you to meet! She's a Siesta too!
She'll kill me if she finds out I'm setting up "Siesta dates" for her! (I love her very much & she's just awesome!)

YEAH! How Exciting. How Exciting. Congrats Blessed Ones and know that we are praising God for this opportunity to share His Word.
GLORY! GLORY! GLORY!
Be Blessed.
So sad that I missed this post but had bible study Monday night in a town that is 50 miles away (what a girl will do to be in fellowship and the Word!) and was not home yesterday to see it!
Congratulations ladies who won!!!! How awesome for you!
I am in need of a new Bible so will check this one out!
Thanks for the info.... :)
And, let's do this more often...sharing the Word with each other will help us learn it better and continue to spiritually build up our little family of sisters here.
So I guess being an imposter and lying in order to win a Bible would be in bad taste?? Just kidding....
Congrats girls!! Can't wait to check out the new ESV Bible myself.
Oh man, what a fun contest! I wish I would have checked the blog yesterday! What a neat, fun idea. There were some really great posts...gave me food for thought!
Congrats to the Siesta Winners! :)
Love,
Kristen
Congrats to the winners!!!
Can I just confess? I was tempted to enter more than once during the quiz to try to increase my odds of winning. I'll be that Bible would be a great Christmas gift from my beloved hubby.
Loved reading the entries. Felt like I was having a QT all over again with sisters I've never met.
Peace,
Kim in Apex, NC
Congrats Siestas!:) What at fun pop quiz!:) I missed it, I'll have to go look at all the scripture references:):) It's always a blessing to see what God is doing in other believer's lives:)
katiegfromtennessee
I've looked at some of these verses, and they are VERY encouraging! The Lord is soo BIG! He is alive and active through His WORD in all of His Own!:) A mighty army of the Lord:) Praise His Name!:)

Congratulations to the 6 Siestas who won!
The comments were a wonderful read. So inspiring.
I agree with Tammy. I wonder if a post could sometime be dedicated to a short paragragh on how we siestas do our quiet time?
~Blessings
I was also excited about the blog idea - posting verses from our devotions - and it had nothing to do with the prize. I was just thrilled to be caught doing something RIGHT for a change.
In answer to Tammy, I have just started getting up earlier to read Scripture in the morning, and it hasn't been pretty for me either. I know Beth says that His mercies are new every morning, but I'm so sleepy I wonder if they're bouncing off the top of my head! When Beth asked us for a verse the other day, I realized that I couldn't remember anything I had read. I had to go back and look it up. Way to meditate on the Word!
I think the idea is train the body into the habit of getting up and doing the same routine every morning. As for you and me, Tammy, we'll just pray that getting up and waking up will start happening at the same time.
THANK YOU! I am thrilled to get the ESV Study Bible. And congrats to all the other winning ladies.
Here's is the real deal though...I turned on the computer this a.m. (just after my QT), and before coming to check out more posts from the Pop Quiz (such wonderful posts from awesome women), I've got 2 emails from "acquaintances" congratulating me on winning.
Ladies~these are women that I occasionally work with but did not know their hearts and now we are connected. What a wonderful gift. Jesus is good and he is all about relationships and connection. I am thrilled.
Joyfully,
Lauri
What a great idea for a post! I missed it but loved reading them! : )
"May the God of HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in HIM, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit!" Romans 15:13
I have been leaning on this... I love it... have so many dear friends (that are young) battling serious stage IV cancers right now! Such a reminder to TRUST Him and that He is our HOPE! Overflow us Lord!

So excited about Esther and the new ESV study. Can'twait!
My blog: www.thehomewardpath.blogspot.com
One of the things that I took away from the Simulcast in August was what Beth said about morning devotions. I am NOT a morning person and work full time but when Beth said it was like "God tapping my shoulder saying, wake up I want to talk with you", I saw it in a completely different light and since then I have been up in the morning and meet with the Lord an hour before I go to work. God has been faithful, as always! I have the ESV study Bible and it is amazing. Enjoy yours Lauri! The more I am in the Word the more I realize I have yet to learn. I love how the same verse speaks to me in different ways at different times! Have a great day full of God's rich blessing!
Lynn
Congrats to the winners! I have to add to the popquiz though... In my quiet time yesterday I was listening to session one of Stepping up. Beth talked about Psalm 13... after the death of our precious Rachael on April 28 I felt like this:
1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
After months of trudging through the valley of death's shadow with Him always at my side, I feel like this... Alway honor, glory and praise belongs to HIM.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
Isn't HE awesome!!!
God bless,
Georgia

Kathy Pink Bicycle Arkansas,
I thought your comment was a great idea for a separate post. So if you'll bear with me a couple days I'd love to address that topic. Thanks, sister! Blessings to you!
I would love to see this done into a Siesta Devotional! Please, Mama Beth?!?!
Hi Beth & Girls!
Consider this your invite!! Hope you'll join in with us!
I am looking for as many people as we can find that would like to participate in a bloggy "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving." I dreamed this idea up as a way to give thanks to the Lord for His work in each of our lives by sharing our testimonies with the world wide web on Monday, November 24, 2008. That's the Monday before Thanksgiving guys! Many of you may choose to leave that post up for the entire week and I encourage that. My prayer is that this sharing of our testimonies will not only encourage each other and give Glory to our Lord but also to those who happen upon our blogs.
Here's how it'll work:
Set to post to publish on: Monday, November 24, 2008.
In your post title put: "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving: (Then insert a name for your testimony)" Example: "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving: Renovations of the Heart"
At the end of your post insert the short paragraph (copy and paste if you want) below with a link to the dedicated blog located at: www.themouthbehindthemoose.blogspot.com (It reads THE MOUTH BEHIND THE MOOSE). I have set up this special blog just for the event as a way of directing people to where prayerfully 1000's of testimonies can be at their fingertips. Here's the blurb for the end of your post on that day: "Today, many of us bloggers have devoted a special post in which we are "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving" by sharing our personal testimonies of the Lord's work in our lives and/or that of our families. Our collective prayer is that this sharing of our testimonies will not only encourage each other and give Glory to our Lord, but also to those who happen upon our blogs. To enjoy many more testimonies like the one you've just read please visit the "Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving" blog located HERE. "
Lastly, be sure you go to the dedicated site and add your blog to the Mr. Linky list so those visiting the site can find your testimony there. When you add yourself to the link be sure to do it like this so if they want to refer people to your testimony they can find it easier. Example: Heather (Renovations of the Heart) or Susan (Breast Cancer) or John (Loss of Parent)
Hope your testimony will be there too!!
Grace & Peace,
Heather Twitchell
Swallowing A Moose
I must confess that it has taken much longer for me to get this truth than it should have, but it is finally starting to penetrate. God, through His Word and His Spirit, is teaching me that it is about 'being' not 'doing.' It's about who I am in Jesus, not what I do to try to get to Him. Call out to Him and He will answer. If you ask Him to teach you how to have a quiet time, He will, by His Spirit, do just that. Start with five minutes and an open Bible at the same time every day and in the same place and He will take it from there. Because God has so many different individual children, I don't think there are two quiet times that are exactly alike.
Blessings to all of you,
Patti

I've been through a BM study before but never knew there was a blog. Thank you Beth Moore for your sharing your gift of teaching and being such an encouragement to the body. This looked neat but I found the blog a day late, even so I hadn't had my quiet time so wouldn't have been able to participate, but all the ladies who did it was wonderful encouragement SO THANK YOU "siestas"!!! It is neat to be able to connect as the body even thru each others blogs. Love in Christ, Mrs. Tiffany Renee Phillips
I'm with "annonymous"... more please! and I don't need the prize either, just the encouragement! Thanks! Congrats to the winners, though :)
I just recently discovered t he blog. Of course the day I do not check into it. LOL
I need to check every day to be up on what is going on. LOL
also convicted by Beth's Cry out from Tuesday in Get out of the Pit. Wake up before the Dawn and have my time with HIM. He was waking me up. I had quit listening for his call lately due to other things and being under weather. Pray for me, He will not give up and I can hear HIM call in the morning again and be willing to arise for HIS WORD. I am doing Beth's Psalms of Ascent and still getting the hang of the face down. Wonder at times if I stay that way long enough to hear it?
I offer suggestions on that too.
in HIS care
Shelly
I am so jealous Siestas!!! I did not make the posting in time but I was so blessed to read several of yours.
I must run out and get the ESV Study Bible. I read from several translations and this will just add to my collection. I am like "jennyhope" and will stalk Lifeway for it. I have ordered "Esther" for the church and should receive it soon. We will begin this study January 8th at 7:00 pm and we can hardly wait to get started. There should be somewhere between 50 and 75 of us (I pray).
We are finishing "Anointed, Transformed, and Redeemed, A Study of David" from the Deeper Still conference, tomorrow night and I have to tell you Siestas....you MUST do this one!!! What a great study. Kudos to you Miss Beth.
Royana
OK - I missed the pop quiz because I checked the blog on Sunday, then again Monday evening! Agh!! I'm setting LPM blog as my homepage right now!!! :)
Congrats and Blessings to all 6 winners. I think we should do this again soon!
oh I was hopeful!! Well, I just bought mine yesterday and hope to have it early next week. What a blessing I pray these resources our to our dear siestas who won!! Thank you Jesus for the tools to know you more!
FOR MELISSA (if you have time, please)
What is your scholarly opinion on ESV? I really appreciate your expert opinion.
I am assuming it is at least favorable since you guys did this big give away..:-)
I had mine pre-ordered and it was worth the wait! I really love it!
Having Wayne Grudem, J.I. Packer, David Powlison and my total favorite - John Piper...all contributing in some way, whether articles or study notes!!!
(By the way, Bethlehem Baptist in MN is going to have one of their women's group studying THE BELOVED DISCIPLE, by our very own Siesta Mama.
The ESV's biblical scholars/contributors (that I have heard or read) on this team are sound, godly, teachers, professors, pastors. They have multiple degrees from places like Oxford and Cambridge...BUT..that is not the most important thing.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that in listening to them lecture at various times or preach - these men live what they teach and preach! They don't just have a head theology...they have a heart theology and they are sound!!
TO MY FELLOW SIESTAS'...Believe me, you will love this Bible. I do hate to put away my Bible from 2 years ago that Beth recommended when I first started listening to her...so I keep both!
Give this one a try...it's beautiful in language like the KJV; it has tons and tons of background information on the most minute details of the scripture that will help you...plus everything else you could need...in one place!!
Sorry to gush :-) Congratulations winners!!!
Thanks if you respond Melissa and if you're busy...then I'll take that as a thumbs up.:-)
Blessings,
Teri
I missed this, but what a cool idea. Thanks for doing this!
Yeah, Twinkle !!!
