New Staff Member

Living Proof joyfully welcomes Curtis Jones to our staff!

My Dear Siestas, please join us as we welcome my dear son-in-law, Curtis, to our ministry staff. We are beside ourselves with joy! I know I’ve set myself up to be teased for announcing his arrival this soon after Melissa moved to Atlanta, but you’ll have to trust me when I tell you that you can’t talk Curtis Jones into a danged thing that he’s not convinced is God’s will. And I say that to his credit. Last fall we began to sense God opening a door for him here in Houston at LPM and have since worked on developing the position as he finished his responsibilities at the church he, Amanda, and Jackson loved so dearly. Curtis will be a wonderful addition to our team and you’ll be hearing from him through various avenues on the website. Please click onto his LPM page to learn lots more about it. We’re crazy about you guys around here and hope so much that this will be another way God will empower us to serve His Son to you. Blessings!

Congratulations Curtis! I hope you realize that by being surrounded by this many women you are really opening yourself up to a chance of catching "cooties". :-)

Beth, may God continue to bless you and your sweet family. I thank God for the anointing he has placed on you and your ministry team. I have been deeply touched by His work through you.

Oh Beth,

You must know this: This answers a very specific prayer that some of me and my pilgrimaging sisters have prayed through our journey in Stepping Up.

All of our men we just KNEW would benefit from indepth Bible study and outside of a few very good options there just isn't much -- we definitely felt it was an untapped area of ministry to men. We knew that they were needing and wanting what we were experiencing with you, but sadly, only a handful could put see themselves putting down their hunting rifles, fishing poles and golf clubs and sit in a class called "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place!"

We have LONGED and PRAYED desperately for someone to step up to the challenge to inspire and encourage our men through indepth Bible study and Living Proof Ministries specifically. I don't know what you have in mind for Curtis, but I know this: I see God's hand ALL OVER THIS, sweet friend!!!

I CANNOT WAIT to see where this road leads!

Congratulations, Curtis, Amanda, Jackson and everyone at LPL.

Just one question: Is Curtis going to join in the front lobby praise dancing sessions?? Can someone video??? :)

Love you so much for your servant's heart and for just being plain fun, girl!!

Blessings,
Dori

Beth: Thank you for sharing this awesome news with your Blog family. I pray God's blessings on Curtis as he establishes himself at LPM.

I love this scripture from Psalm 90:17 and I pray it for this new endeavor with your ministry:

"May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us: establish the work of our hands for us - yes, establish the work of our hands."

Love & Blessings,

Hey Living Proof family,

I am so excited for this new day!! I've been eagerly awaiting to hear the "announcement" Amanda warned us about a few months ago, and this is even more exciting than I expected.

Plus, I needed some good news today. It's been one of those wake up on the wrong side of the bed days. But, as someone very dear once said (Beth cough cough) - God can not only change our days, he can change our MOOD! Amen! This announcement is a step in the right direction.

Love to my LPM family,
Missy

How awesome of God! Welcome, Curtis!

Beth, sorry for being off-topic, but I have to tell you that I finished A Heart Like His yesterday and I am forever changed by the life of David and His God and mine!!! When I got to the end of his life, I cried.. and I also thought, "That was BEAUTIFUL!!" God directed me to this study because I also married the person I commited adultery with many years ago.. you can imagine the guilt, shame, and condemnation that followed. The past two years, God has brought me and my husband such indescriable GRACE and FREEDOM. We are in the life-long process and commitment of getting our "family in order". I pray that when I get to the end of my life, I will hear Jesus say, "That was beautiful!" It's all for HIM - He is so worthy.

Welcome Curtis!

Beth - bug in the ear thing - I can imagine that many of we siestas, even those who have been students of the Word for many years, would so love and appreciate and yes, need, what you (and possibly Curtis) are going to do in the Fall - how about a SIMPLE video being posted to your web site so we can all learn the whats and hows and whys . . . I myself was excited to read about LIT until I saw that it was only for the young'ins . . . and when you asked about Curtis doing the same thing . . . and knowing that it would also be space limited . . . well . . . I mean a SIMPLE video - no editing, just shoot it and post each week . . . (and I know it is not quite that easy as I edit web pages myself!)

Have a good week LPM gals and guy . . . you have a miestas in your midst - better behave! NOT!

Praise the Lord your anointed ministry will now be reaching men! The need for in depth study for our men is so important and we know that this ministry will bless them the way it has blessed us girls! Thank you for following God's leading in taking this step of faith! Now families will be united, lives impacted and moved toward a closer relationship with our Lord! Oh, praise Him!

I just showed a video from one of your Bible studies to our women's prayer group last night. It was from "Living Beyond Yourself Exploring the Fruit of The Spirit". There were quite a few tears. It was session 3 and dealt with love and rejection. (many people in the group are new to Beth Moore Studies) I have done many studies at another church and wanted to bring some to ours. One women asked if I knew of any men's Bible studies that were similar....... maybe someday in the future there will be.

How WONDERFUL! Curtis, know that you are more than welcome among this crazy group of women who love God. I can't tell you how meaningful this is to me personally. I listened to your sermon about worship and you have a gift. Your addition is a blessing to the ladies at LPM, and to those they minister to.

Beth, thank you for taking this step. I believe in my heart that this decision will yield much fruit for your ministry and those of us who receive it. Relevance is where it's at for new believers and I think this decision is a great one!

Loving you all the more,

Amen and Amen to what Dori wrote. My heart has been crying out to God for resources for in-depth Bible study for my men. My men (husband and three sons) gladly listen to Beth on DVD when I have one at home, so perhaps just simple revisions to some of the written material to "bring it" to the young men and husbands will be all that is needed for a start. Start with Believing God ?!

How excititng! God is up to something HUGE within the body of Christ. This past fall semester saw the beginning of Men's Fraternity at our church and I was so moved yesterday by the testimonies of the two men who stirred the baptistery waters at the start of our early service. Sisters, join me in praying for the spiritual health of our men in the body of Christ. I'm reminded just now of a line in a favorite hymn - "mercy drops round us are falling, but for revival we plead."
Blessings to all of you as we continue to pray for a downpour,
Patti
PS: I did check my dictionary and baptistery can be spelled either way. The other spelling is as the word sounds, baptistry.

This is fabulous news!! What a fabulous legacy you are leaving, Beth! I hold onto the Scripture (who address escapes me at the moment) that says that God will visit the sins of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations, but the faithfulness of those who love Him to a thousand generations! How awesome to see this Scripture at work... you were the one who worked to be free of the generational sin and now God is blessing your descendents incredibly!! What a joy it must be to have your daughter and son-in-law serving side by side with you.

Congratulations to Curtis and I cannot wait to see what God does from here on out. I know the men in our church are "jealous" of us when we do our Beth Moore studies and have often said they wish there was something like it for them. Maybe there will be?!

I have prayed and longed for more men's ministry opportunites for my man.

Your arrival at LPM could not have come at a better time.

You are in my prayers, dear brother.

This is such a great answer to prayer. Have been burdened by the need for men (in general but let's face it -my own specifically!)to get into a Bible study that is not just about acquiring knowledge but will be applicable to their everyday life. Please pray with me starting now that those who desparately need it - saved and unsaved -will be willing to come.
Hanging on in a tough marriage,

I already commented, but that was BEFORE I went and listened to Curtis speak on the website. Sietas, I urge you, if you have time, or even if you don't have time, make time to listen to Curtis's message on Isaiah 58. Oh my word, it's very powerful and convicting! I called my husband who is out of town, and told him to get on Beth's website and listen. He has said so many times, "where are the Men's bible studies that take God for Who HE IS and do not spend all the time pumping up men to try to be who they aren't?" "Where are the men who will just OBEY and then walk humbly before their God?" Siesta's, I think God found His man! I am so excited about this! You can click a button and after hearing Curtis speak, request him to speak to your church group. What a calling! Thanks for allowing that word to be heard Beth! Amanda- what did you pray specifically that God would answer your prayer in such a big way? I have three girls- this is the kind of man I want for them. God bless you both!

Yahoo!!!! Congratulations and I'm so excited to see what God is up to!! He always has so much better things conjured up than I can even imagine! May God bless richly this new aspect of the LPM ministry. What a beautiful tapestry He is weaving!

And as an aside, I'll be praying specifically for you, Curtis. See I am the "boss" (yea, right!) of 16 great women and one, poor, lone, brave male. When we built a new office building, as I met with the contractor, I requested a testosterone mist in the ventilation system...thought it would help everyone. They couldn't do it. So, I went back to my old reliable method - PRAYER! God love ya, darlin', for being such a brave soul in this world of women (siestas to be exact!)

Without even realizing it, so many of us who benefit from the ministry of Living Proof have been in prayer along with you, for a long time not even knowing this was brewing! I, and many other women I minister to, have prayed that there would somehow be an avenue for men to be reached with the same impact that women have through this ministry. I am so excited to hear that God is answering our prayers by bringing Curtis in to the ministry!! The potential is huge, and I'm sure that God has BIG plans! This is VERY exciting news!!

Curtis,
This is welcome news!! And timely too!! I look forward to your ministry and a mans point of view on things. We are a family business so to speak and it is wonderful. Don't let anyone make you think you are taking the easy way by working with and for family, nothing could be further from the truth. The joys are incredible the challenges unique. Loved you since I heard about you washing Amanda's feet. I prayed for a son in law with that kind of love and He gave us one. When he asked for our daughter's hand in marriaige he told us he was going to wash her feet during the proposal, he knew nothing of my prayer. ALL my best. Shalom.

Just listened to the sermon on the "Curtis" web page...what a blessing! Yep, he can "bring it!"

In regards to the "ministry to the poor" comments in the sermon, here's a link to another website for a ministry
that is very much ministering to the poor in America, with a deep and focused local impact: www.lifeinquip.wordpress.com

My brother Matt is ministering up there with them, and it's amazing (coming from a very sheltered Baptist community in the Bible Belt) to see what God is doing just outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

Bless you all at LPM as you minister together and transition into this new phase!

Dear Beth,
I have debated writing this for some time but feel I have to. I am perplexed as to why in your blogs you sometimes use the words, "danged", "darn", "heck"?
If I was to hear my pastor use these from the pulpit I know I would feel uncomfortable.
This is meant in the kindest of ways. I just wanted to pass it along.

Now there is. Yay!

Congratulations Curtis, Amanda, Ms. Beth, and the rest of y'all that I'm probably forgetting to mention!!

Btw, I loved the fact that Curtis took the Woman's Heart study. One of my friends wanted to do it with her children b/c she wanted both of them to learn what Ms. Beth was teaching us. :) And that was my first study of hers too. LOL!

Anyway, congrats y'all!!

I think you have made a wonderful decision to move into a position to minister not only to women, but to men also. Your message is relevant to the body as a whole. Our entire Wednesday night congregation, men and women, young and old, have gone through several of your bible studies. There is no prejudice at Gadsden Christian Fellowship about it being a "women's bible study!" :) Praise God for staying current and with the times. Blessings to you and your entire family.

But, of course he is his unique self, gifted by GOD for the ministry of teaching/preaching to bless us all in the body!

I know he's great...after Beth talked about him washing Amanda's feet before he ever kissed her in The Beloved Disciple Bible study - He had my vote too!

Hey Beth and Amanda,

I just want to congratulate you on having Curtis join the staff. I was touched when I read about his faithfulness to God on your home page.I LOVE to hear this kind of thing!!! After I get done with writing a bunch of papers for my English classes, I am looking forward to listening to the message posted. P.S. I will have to post as anonymous because I do not know how to blog and I rarely post because of that. Oh and I know what a blessing it will be to have them close. I am in a predicament myself because I am moving down your way from West Virginia and leaving my beautiful, precious baby niece and it is devastating. Also, I am a country girl from WV and I don't know what I am going to do in a big city like Houston. I have to trust God, please pray for me. Beth, I am as crazy about my niece as you are over Jackson and it took me by surprise. It is like a new form of mental illness (you said that one time). Thanks!! You and the late Ruth Bell Graham are the only Christian authors I really read, respect and just love because y'all know how to keep it real and that is what truly helps people.

I'm so excited to hear this news! Our ladies are always saying, "I wish the men in our church could do a Bible Study like this!" There ARE great studies out there for the guys, just not quite the same format-and yours is a GREAT format. I cannot wait to see what God does through Curtis at Living Proof!

And she was right on. I was blown away by Curtis's Isaiah 58 sermon, hit hard right between the eyes, and I will need to listen to it again. God bless the family and the ministry! Love you guys! Welcome, Curtis! What an amazing sermon!! I think many of us will be reminded each time we sing "I love you, Lord" of our need to be honest and what a sweet, sweet sound that will be to God. You are right on target and I was deeply convicted.

I look forward to your new role at LPM and I know that many of the siestas' men will as well. I have facilitated almost every study Beth has written and my husband has previewed many of the video sessions with me and completed Daniel with me last year.

Congratulations to all the Moores and Joneses!

WHoo! Alleluia! Did I get that right? I just read over Curtis' bio and job description. Are you developing some materials/studies for men too now-- Oh Praise Jesus!!! My husband is so on the cusp of diving in-- and I have been looking for just the right stuff for him, but nothing really stands out like Beth does for the WOMAN, you know what I am saying?

Welcome Curtis!! We are so excited. God has got a plan!!

Great to hear the news Beth, you are so blessed to have your daughter and son-in-law part of your ministry. Wow, to Curtis, I just listened to his sermon on Isaiah. Amazing! This really spoke to my heart. I'm a working mother of three, and I just sat down for a moment to catch up on LPM blog, and I thought "hmm, I'd like to hear him". I must say it was a God thing that I clicked on it. Thank you Curtis for delivering a wonderful message, and for following God's calling on your life!

Welcome Curtis!

I believe our men are so hungry for solid, passionate Biblical teaching. I can't wait to see what Curtis and the Lord will do together for our men! (not to mention us gals)

I also have a sneaking feeling Bibby is a tad bit excited to have Jackson so close, not to mention AJ.

I am and will continue to pray for everyone at LPM, plus one!

Much love!

I just have to say one thing about men and Beth Moore studies. My husband and I went and heard you speak about getting out of the pit last year. It was awesome. We saw you on a screen, although it felt like it was in person. Anyway, we were both so excited about you coming and then the day before, I started thinking..."I wonder if this is only for women". I called the church just to make sure men would be there, too. They said, "oh, of course, men are more than welcome!" so I just assumed a lot of men would be there. The next day as we were parking, I noticed all women and started to panic a little bit. I didn't want my husband to be the only man and I am ashamed to say, I was embarrased. I didn't want people to think I dragged my husband to hear you. Well, when we get inside, I saw lots of women (some that I knew)and NO men. The sanctuary was big and filled with women...ALL women. I wanted to leave but I knew that was Satan talking to me and my husband refused. After about 30 minutes, I saw one other man. So, out of thousands of women, there were 2 men there! :) It was one of the best experiences my husband and I have ever had. We took page upon page of notes and were truly truly blessed. I am so so glad that we didn't leave. My husband loves you, Beth...just like the women do!

I am so excited LPM is going to include more manly stuff! It has been on my heart for a couple years that we are too segregated! We are running the same race but still tend to stay in separate lanes (men and women). I so long for unity for the genders, however God wants it! Fighting shoulder to shoulder for God's kingdom, of course~different, but the same passion for Him.

Curtis and LPM,

CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank You Lord, perhaps our "Men" will now have a grasp of how wide and how deep we can all come together....studying The Word. I'm sure that I don't have the only man, doing studies with me. It will be a true delight!

Thank you...what a team, with God at the center.

Lovingly,

Yeah! When God allowed my husband and I to move back to my hometown, my mom and I were and-continue to be- so very thrilled! Jackson will be blessed to have Bibby so close. Amanda- I remember the sadness I felt leaving our church, but the homecoming to my family was so so worth it. In addition, congratulations on following God's will. I will pray for you during this new time of "happiness-yet sadness."(I think you know what I mean??)
Curtis sounds like a wonderful man of God and will certainly be a blessing to LPM. Congratulations all!

I think this is all really neat and good and it's really exciting to anticipate what God will do in this....but what I REALLY have to say is this - I thought it would be interesting to click on that little player and kinda listen to that sermon in the background of other things I was reading and working on the computer.
WRONG! OH so wrong!
So here I am however long later with all these unread and unwritten windows open on my computer and I'm just really blown away.
I'm asking myself if worship is truly a response to what God has already done and not what I want to try to manipulate Him to do (paraphrasing Curtis) then how is it that I ever get out of the bed in the morning without immediately going face to the floor?
Really, the whole sermon was very timely for me - I rarely listen to sermons online but really needed to hear that one!
Back to the point - I think it's great and look forward to the many ways God will use Curtis in this ministry!!

Beth,

I'm wondering...

What does Curtis call you within your family?

What will he call you at work? (If he smushes "Boss" with "Bibby" it could get pretty funny!)

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!! I am so excited for all of you! My husband is reading "90 Days with the One and Only" and loving every minute of it like I did. He adores Beth, but I think will like the idea of a "dude" back in Houston.

I'm excited for LPM, the Jones and the Moores!

yeah!!! so happy to hear!
Also, I wanted to update on my situation. I wrote 2 weeks ago and mentioned that I was 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and spotting....I so appreciated hearing how Beth had cried and fallen in prayer for all of us. I have needed it...wow...it's been 2 weeks of learning about God's peace and trusting in Him.
On Sunday, I passed a blood clot and started cramping. So, my ob had me come in yesterday for an ultrasound. Praise God that the baby seemed great, and the heartbeat....wow...how amazing that my baby is only 1 cm, but has that heartbeat. Fearfully and wonderfully made!!

The main reason I wanted to update was because, even though things are promising with a good ultrasound, I'm still needing tons of prayer and time with God right now. I've actually been put on bedrest for the moment...so God is giving it to me! :) I sat down to do the last week on Breaking Free yesterday...but before I did, my Bible fell open to Zephaniah 3:17. It so comforted me! First of all, God is mighty to save!! I have a 1 cm baby, and I feel helpless to help him (or her!)...but God is mighty and He can!! AND, He will quiet me with His love. That's exactly what I need. Fears to be quieted, to just enjoy my pregnancy and not worry so much. I spent a long time meditating on these scriptures...then I decided to start my day on Breaking Free. Would you believe that Beth had us turn to Zephaniah 3:17??? God never ceases to amaze me...and then, the last part of the verse...He rejoices over me (and my baby!) with singing. He is excited about this little one!! In Breaking Free, Beth suggested to get out our dancing shoes to this thought....and, I can't exactly do that right now, being on bedrest...but the thought at least gave me a smile!! I danced in my imagination! :)
Just wanted you to get (yet another!) example of how Great God is!! And, also, to remind you how He uses you. THANKS!! And, any prayers would still be appreciated!! :)

Beth, I've got to tell you a funny story about my man. My husband would come with me to the Daniel study to get the video and sound started for us ladies, but would then 'hide out' in the balcony and watch the sessions! I was the only one who knew until he got so excited one evening that he say "AMEN" really loud!!!
When I did Stepping Up recently, I would borrow the dvd's and watch them a second time, just so he could see them (there is no balcony to hide in at our new church!), and he even wanted to look over the homework.
You may have been called to women's ministry, but make no mistake, Beth, your gifts are a blessing to the boys as well!
As soon as I read the blog about Curtis, I found his page and my husband and I listened to his message on Worship from Isaiah 58...AMAZING. We can't wait to see what God has in store for him there at LPM. And we are happy for your family, too!

Love in Christ,
Amber in TN

Thanks for your obedience you live out at LPM. We're blessed because of it.
Welcome to the family Curtis! Hopefully when you accepted the position, you were well informed that you now have a whole lotta crazy siesta-in-laws to put up with! :)
