For Lives Like Ours
I’ve been sitting here with tears stinging in my eyes. Have really felt like bawling for the last hour or so. Finally went ahead and got on my face and took God up on it. Now I’m back in my chair at my backporch table but still can’t shake the feeling. Nope, it’s not hormones although how would a woman in my season of life know, for crying out loud? I think at least that what moves me this moment is the power of the Cross and all this Resurrection weekend represents to those of us who believe. Who keep believing. And I’ll tell you why. When I asked you how you were doing, I had absolutely no thought of tying these two entries together. I had no agenda at all except to simply know how you are but by the time I’d read the first several hundred, I was so moved by the connection that I could not hold back the tears. I’m not even sure I can explain what I felt but I’m going to try. After all, blogs like mine are not meant to showcase beautifully prepared, deeply deliberated, excellently proofed, and perfectly edited theological treatments. Blogs like mine are more for simply throwing it out there to a bunch of friends. For writing like you’d chat. A place – when it’s appropriate – to say it while it’s raw.
I looked at all 700+ comments and shook my head with love and wonder over what a slice of life was represented there. Many doing great, feeling loved, and sensing God. Others dry, confused, and, as one of our beloved Siestas said, “hanging on by a thread…but at least I’m hanging on!” And either set could trade places in a split second. Many probably have even by this time. One sister’s dad died suddenly of a heart attack and she’s planning his funeral this Resurrection weekend. How perfectly appropriate. Another was taking her teenage daughter for her driving test. God bless her. Another had six kids home for Spring Break. God help her. Another had a three year old with head lice but let’s not nit pick. Another’s nephew was killed in a car accident last night. Dear Sweet Jesus. Another found out two days ago that she’s pregnant. It’s her third pregnancy but she has no children. Lost the first two. Please, Lord. Another is heading with a group of 40+ people to Belize to minister to those with severe needs in the name of Christ. Another will spend Easter weekend on the other side of the world from her deployed husband. Another is hearing the voice of God through His Word like never before in her life. Another is a school counselor trying to help elementary children deal with the death of a 3rd grade girl killed by a van while checking the mailbox. Another is at her wit’s end trying to know what to do with an unrepentant, unapologetic teenage son with a pornography addiction. Another and another and another is in financial distress. Another is five weeks pregnant with her first child and spotting some. Another is “cleaning toilets and changing diapers to pay rent.” I loved that. Another is a 49 year-old bridesmaid. We’ve gotta all love that. Another is sitting in Southern Indiana surrounded by flood waters. Another is celebrating at a Pizza Inn with a group of 75-90 year olds who have just finished studying “Jesus the One and Only.” And another is “tired and deflated and ready for this dry season to end” for her.
And Christ is watchful and active and overflowing with unabashed, unbridled affection over every single one of them. As Present in one as any other. As purposeful in the life feeling the least purpose. The most exhaustion. He still raises the dead. Saves the lost. Heals the weak. Sets prisoners free. He never misses a tear. Never let’s us go. He was lifted up so we could be drawn to Him. Killed so we could live. Beaten so we could win. No matter what stone seems to have you entombed, He can roll it away. Nothing can stay in the grave when God has resurrection on His mind. And, Sweet Thing, God has resurrection on His mind right now.
He had it on His mind with every beat of that hammer on the nails penetrating Christ’s flesh. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” Death never gets the last word. Not even the death of relationship. Respect. Well-being. Health. God cannot – will not – leave well enough alone. His business is life and life at its liveliest. Loveliest. May He roll away every last thing that is stifling His effervescence in us. He never promised that life here would always be fun but He mighty well promised that life here could always be full. Every single ounce of power expended on the Cross is yours in Jesus’ Name. Ask Him what that means. How you draw from it. That’s what I’m doing today. Like you, I’ve had innumerable blessings and unforgettable moments of late. Like you, I’ve also had my own heartbreaks, disappointments, and worries. Felt weary to the bone. Frustrated to the core. I’ve cried, too. Thought I was fed-up with some things, too. Wondered if I’d ever change, too. Then comes Good Friday. The violence that says something’s about to be different. That causes our earths to quake. Then comes the Saturday wait that seems an eternity long. Then, finally, FINALLY comes Sunday morning…long before dawn. By that time the Father has waited long enough. And stones begin to roll.
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us ALL our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 3:13-15
Some of us are burdened and weary because we never have allowed ourselves to feel the full and free forgiveness of the Cross. What if today you believed it? What if today you believed Him? What if you finally let it go? What if today the deadness in us could no longer resist the sound of Christ calling us forth from the tomb? What if we decided to get up and really live?
I love you so dearly. Blessed Friday of all Fridays and Happy Easter Sunday.

Sweet Beth, how each word in your post spoke of Jesus to me. You painted such a wonderful picture of the various places fellow believers are and how He ministers to each one wherever they are. What a great God who can be in so many places at the same time and be exactly what each one of us needs at any given moment. Two phrases that keep shouting in my heart and head....HE is risen! HE is risen indeed. May we all truly celebrate the resurrection this Sunday morning.
Beth and Siesta Friends...
As I contemplate the meaning of this week, this day, this weekend and the glory of Sunday Morning... I am filled with quiet awe and serious gratitude. As I read through the comments, I felt much as you did, Mrs. Beth... I fell face down and then wrote a prayer out to post on your previous post... but my technology revolted and there was a "restore" activity performed and my prayer never made the internet waves... yet, I prayed just the same and cannot wait to hear the praises that come from a small internet city (Siestaville - you do realize we are a small city, right?) Glorying in the Lord even in our difficulties, struggles and pains. For those who are celebrating this week, keep praising Him and lets carry our sisters who are walking in difficult time to the feet of our LORD. May God be glorified in teh testimony of your lives... and May Jesus be glorified as we remember His sacrifice and His victory that this weekend each year represents. GLORY! GLORY! GLORY! May God's glory outweigh everything that life is throwing at us and may He be glorified in our lives each day! BLESSINGS SWEET GIRLS!
Beth-I am so grateful for the significance of the cross. My husband and I work with youth and we are presenting the physical side of the crucifixion to them and it crushes me every time, it brings us to tears presenting it. He went through that for you, for us, for me! I am so unworthy and so humbled.
My step-daughter passed her driving test!! It was her second attempt (taking test are not always easy for her). We prayed before we went in. God is good! She needed this boost in her life. Pray for her as she is going through some emotional family issues and she is such a jewell!! I love her as my own!
You are such a blessing to me. Continue to allow God to use you because it has influenced and changed so many lives such as my own! God's blessings!
In His Graces~Pamela
Tho the Lord has me in Hebron right now in a settled place, most of my life I've been a cave/pit dweller. I'm so encouraged by the reminder that Christ rolls away _all_ our stones, and gives us fresh new life, filled with fresh new possibilities. The memory from the video clip in Shreveport of the girl throwing rocks at that house remains. May the Lord reveal to each of us even hidden stones, that He wants to remove. We are living stones, and He is our Rock. Happy Easter each and every siesta.
Oh sweet Beth. God bless you, sister.
Today I am letting go, really letting go....and I honestly believe HIM! It's as though I am seeing this world with a new set of eyes. What beautiful gifts He has given me in two precious children and a forgiving husband who loves me, really loves me. Raised to newness of life...
O Beth! Youve done it agean! You gave me excatly what i needed to hear today! Thasnk you and i love you and your famaily so much!
Right there with you, Beth! A blessed Easter to the Moore's and all the Siestas!
No greater Love was fulfilled than on this day. Darkest hours our Savior endured for each one of those sweet ladies you mentioned and each one you didn't, and for you, dear Beth. How well you know, how beautifully you say it--Blessed Ressurection to you all in Christ Jesus. But for His Love, Annette
"What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you'll have it all—life healed and whole.
I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it's your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.
You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don't see him, yet you trust him—with laughter and singing. Because you kept on believing, you'll get what you're looking forward to: total salvation."
1 Peter 1:3-9 (The Message)
Love you, Beth.
Happy Easter Siestas!
Mary
I think I am deciding today :) I love you and your family my sweet Friend !
Well Beth, you sure are precious ya know that. Thank you for such comforting words and such a transformed heart.
I wanted to share that I am very thankful today because I didn't throw up :) !!! - It is indeed a GREAT day when you don't barf. I think that's one thing I will add to my thank you journal, and while I'm not feeling perfect yet physically, I am thankful I haven't barfed today like I did yesterday. Such a small thing, and yet so big.
Anyway, aside from that, I have been meditating upon the grace of the cross and the comfort that the cross brings. The cross is beautiful to me because it represents everything evil man has done and everything beautiful Jesus has done.
I can't wrap my mind around substitutionary atonement or Jesus being made sin, but I do believe it. I believe it to the marrow of my bones and will declare it for all of my life.
I'm thankful for the cross and I am thankful that it is an equal place to meet my family in Christ.
Thank you for all you do, and know you are in my prayers, as well as my siestas. :)
I find my heart is overflowing for my siestas, especially for this dear one who has experienced two miscarriages. I had my second miscarriage about three weeks ago. In this desert place God has been my well spring and I have yet to understand why though I am broken He continues to sit with me and carry me when it is time to move. I'm just thankful He does it. I find myself wanting the blessed one who is having spotting during her pregnancy to be okay as much as I have ever wished it for myself. I pray that not one of these daughters of the King of kings ever believes Satan's lies of loneliness and rejection. No diamond, no money amount, no other is more important than you. You are uniquely precious.
Dear Beth,
Thank you for honest and moving comments. The Holy Spirit is surely with you. Our Lord was with me this morning. He led me to give my neighbor a chance before I had one of his friend's car towed.
See I live in a townhome community and cars were double-parked in guest parking nearly blocking me in. I called the property management company, etc. God told me go over and ask them to move. I woke up a young man, obviously had partied too much the night before. About 45 minutes later they moved the car.
A true GODSTOP to me because I was obidient and didn't ruin someone's weekend.
Happy Easter,
Mary Ann, MN
Oh sweet Beth...how we could all understand and relate to so many of our fellow sisters out there.
Our hearts are full of so many emotions right now.
May He be alive, full, and living within each of us. Whatever the fullness or life is...keep at it.
He will save. He will redeem. He will restore. He just will...if we keep at it with Him.
Praying for us all this weekend. And, may we all go face down before Him with these overflowing hearts and let Him be alive in us.
Love you and Happy Easter!
Fran
I love the fact that God uses the internet, through you, to remind us that we are not alone, this is all temporary, and He lives!

My first time to comment, but I've been reading the blog for a long time. I love hearing how other women are doing- it makes you feel like you're not so alone! I've got a sick baby and a sick husband- you know which one is harder to care for!(ha ha). I'm leading the women at my church in Stepping Up- great Bible study and great discussion. Beth,
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you are back and I was really looking forward to your thoughts on what God has impressed upon you during this "Good Friday".
It always amazes me that we call today Good Friday. I told my students today that we need to really understand and ponder today before we get to Sunday.
Again, thanks so much for having this blog where we can just share and encourage one another!!
To which I can only say,
Amen...
Beautiful, Beth.
Beth..thank you for this precious blog post. God speaks through the words that He give you, and I almost always find myself with tears rolling down my cheeks!
Blessings to you and yours this Resurrection Sunday!
Jes
the free gift... -AMEN... IT'S FREE and we can all live forever...
if I might share a beautiful story with you...
People assume this is a common thing for me... but it's a first...
I am a Hospice Nurse.. and I had a dying patient ask me this week to explain how he would die... one thing led to another...and the spiritual aspect came up...he finally said that he wasn't saved...so we talked about that for a while.
Long story short... God provided every word I needed and soon, we prayed the prayer of Salvation...
the man received Christ...
He cried
I cried..
His mom cried...
Heaven rejoiced...
as I was sharing this story with my family later that night (keeping his name confidential of course), my 12 year-old son asked if we were going to baptize him... well, duh why didn't I think of that!!
I called him the next day and he was elated.. our on-staff Chaplain is going to make arrangements next week. The patient wants to make sure I will be there with him..
what a huge honor and privilege...
The Lord is so good...
The patient's entire demeanor has changed. He is now at peace. He is no longer going to die but have eternal life.
This is the best Easter ever.
Happy Easter to all my dear sistas...
Love you all
Living the Supernatural,

Thank you for the reminder of NEW LIFE. We have new baby kittens (a day old) and two baby chicks my hubby decided to purchase for the kids for Easter. What a lesson for my children to watch NEW LIFE. I have meditated on this, this week and come to realize that is the true message of the Gospel. It can be ALL NEW, he makes all things new, behold the old has gone, the new has come, no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in ME. Praise the Lord, that HE LIVES!!! Thank you for loving all of us and praying for us Ms. Beth, God is using you in HIS precious kingdom for eternal influence. Happy EASTER SIESTAS!!
Oh I want to really live! Show me afresh what it all means Jesus! Come on Sunday!
Thank you Beth that was beautiful...
Open the eyes of all of our hearts Lord so that we can see you in ways like we never have before!
Have a Blessed Easter!
Emmy : )
know ye not, that so many of us as were baptiized into Jesus Christ were baptized unto his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so WE ALSO should Walk in the Newness of Life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his reesurrection.(Rom 6:3-5) .....What if? Really, What if? So often i just don't know how you do it...but you are the "living proof" that you do and i can too....God, Help us all to rest more in you every day..Shine Your Light so abundantly in our shut-up and darkened hearts that we can do nothing else but seek You. May God give you his peace this Easter Weekend.....
Thank You, Beth. I so appreciate your authenticity. Your relationship with Jesus is so inspiring, you are an encouragement to me. Thank you for being so open, and so humble. I have grown so much in my walk, through your diligence and teaching. Happy Easter!
Beth, Thank you for loving us, listening to us , bringing us together on this wonderful BLOG, and most of all for helping us see Jesus more clearly. You truly are His Hands and Feet. I am privileged to be a part of this sacred group. Happy Easter everyone. Love, LINDA
Weeping . . .
Can feel the pain of all the siestas - thus as it should be - sisters in Christ - more connected here than we are with some of our own blood kin . . . and connected eternally by the Blood of Jesus.
I stand in awe of Him . . . and I honor each of you - I am so grateful that we are not taking this journey alone, even though at times, we may feel like we are.
He is Risen and We Are Free!
Wow! What a great reminder. This weekend always gets to me because I think I would have been right there waving my palm branch as He rode into the city....and then, if I am honest enough, I am pretty sure I would have been in the crowd yelling "Crucify Him". It breaks my heart to think that about myself, knowing all the pain he suffered on my behalf. But I am pretty sure that is where I would have been. So this weekend is good time for me to sit with my Lord and thank Him for the salvation He gave to me and for saving me from myself. Praise God... He is Risen!
oh I read each one too, and it so moved me. I prayed for some by name with tears in my eyes. God can use this computer to defeat satan all day long! Praise Him!
thank you, Beth.
How I praise the Lord for gifting you to speak His word, type His word and proclaim His Christ.
Easter is my favorite holiday all year. It is so full of hope, promise and eternal blessing to all who believe.
I love what you said that nothing can stay dead when God has resurrection on His mind. Love that! The Siestas are ready for stone rolling for sure!
Love and blessings to you, Beth, and all my Siestas. May we wake up Sunday with unspeakable joy all day long. Jill

"...that was against us, that opposed us...He took it away..."
What a verse to share today !!! He absorbed it all and took the poison of it all for us! Thank You for sharing this verse Beth ! HE TOOK IT AWAY ! Our Champion-Savior TOOK IT ALL AWAY ! And the planet trembled as He did on that Friday ! Loving you Beth , and in awe of HIM, with you !
I had to sit here and read this out loud to my husband, stopping here and there to get a grip, sob, blow the nose and march forward. You see, we are on Maui for some rest, and we do this "thang" together. Jesus, Bill and I.
God just spoke through you Miss Beth.
THANK YOU SIESTA!
Hope, Jesus Christ, our blessed HOPE!
LOVE YOU ALL!
Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Sunday-Saturday, week in and week out.
Thank you, Beth for the beautiful word picture.
Connie, I can't tell you how your comment moved me. Thanks for sharing.
I don't recall who said this first, but I heard it in a sermon once. "It's Friday, but Sunday's coming!" Hallelujah!
May all of you have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!
Patti
"For Lives Like Ours"... you got that right!
Thanks for your sweet words!
Thank you Beth! What a beautiful reminder of why we celebrate this weekend-and every day! I sat here reading you post and crying-for two reasons. Thankful for a Savior that died and rose for us and that what a blessing to know Him! But also crying for a friend of mine, that God has laid on my heart, that doesn't know Him. But He still saves the lost! Thanks for the reminder. May you have a blessed weekend!
Beth,
Your words are so true! God's love and grace will cover our deepest wounds and bring the only true healing we can ever know this side of heaven.
We were hiking in the Ouachita National Forest earlier in the week and I was using my Psalms of Ascent knowledge. Psalms 121 was repeated many times before we made it back to the truck. We had to cross the same river 4 times with our 12 and 6 yr. olds. Boy did I pray bcs. it had rained alot up there and the river was running faster than I liked. God is so good. He guided our steps through each crossing and gave us great camp sites along the way. Surprisingly we saw 2 snakes and all but me have removed ticks!!!! I love to see the dog woods in bloom; and always use this to talk to the kids about the cross. Thank you Father for the Son. And thank you Beth for this site where we can share the Father's blessings.
All I can say is Amen! Sweet, Beth. Amen!
May all of our hearts grasp the LOVE that HE has lavished on us this weekend. And then forever...
Hope you and your precious family have a very happy Easter!
He Is Risen!
Sisters, I too said a quick prayer for all of you as I read through those comments. You are in so many of our hearts and prayers and it IS amazing how our Father can be here for each one of us and bring us exactly what we need (Mary Lou, you said it!)!
And Beth, after reading everyone's comments here, it sounds like you really touched a lot of our hearts, including mine! It really is a blessed Friday of all Fridays! I can't wait until Sunday when we can all celebrate! Jesus is Risen! Love, Lindsey
Ms Beth,
I printed out this entry. It's so wonderful!!! Thank you!!!
I have to tell you this. I was watching you on tv the other day it was the conclusion of your current series (I was spoiled last week by getting to watch you every day, and each broadcast was from a diff series), but anyway you had gotten to your closing and there was this one girl in the audience who got a little emotional and you stepped off the stage and went to her and lifted her face up and told her that weeeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. And I just sat there and thought "It doesn't get any more real than that, and THAT is what Jesus is all about" b/c I know that if it had been me or any other one of us sitting in that audience you'd have done the same thing. Thank you for being so real.
The other thing I realized last night and just had to tell you was that for as long as I can remember I was absolutely terrified of the book of Romans. I don't know why but I was. Now, after listening to your teachings on it I can't wait to go back through it. And in your teachings that I've heard so far you address the very things that I've questioned over the last 2 years. You have no idea how much you are helping me!!
I loved the Scripture you posted. and your post was awesome!! Thank you so much for taking the time to keep up this blog.
Happy Easter to you and all of the siestas!
♥~Andreea
ah, the awesome timing of God! I can't tell you what His work through your ministry means to me! He has opened my eyes and my heart in so many different ways that I don't even know how to respond. I feel like I have to say, "Hold on God, let me put my eyeballs back in before You start up again!"
Praise Him for all that this weekend stands for!
Jenn--Monroe, LA
I have been weeping all day today, I start this every Thurs night of Holy Week and continue through Easter. The magnitude of what God has done for us cannot be described in words. I try to express a little bit of it on my blog. I am not a writer I am a blabber.
Thank You Heavenly Father for the gift of the empty tomb! Jesus is Risen, He is risen indeed.
Happy Easter...may we all be mindful of Easter every day.
Beth, I have been studying the Patriarchs Bible Study...great study by the way! In your last video, you are almost to the point of literally sobbing because you have come to the end of the study. I wonder if this season of Easter and coming to the end of Breaking Free at the Houston location has not got your "high" somewhat "low" in anticipation. You also have referenced studying Esther. That is a somewhat dry book in the Bible, so that could be feeding on a dry season for you.
Amanda, how are you and your family? With all the flooding in Dallas, I was concerned about you and your family. I hope you are on higher ground (if that's even possible in Texas)!
Melissa, how is married life treating you? How is Atlanta treating you? Are you and Colin getting acquainted with each other and your new surroundings? We would love to hear from you!!!! I hope all is well with you and your marriage is more blessed than your engagement was!!
Janet
Breath-taking, Unbelievable, Heartbreaking, Victorious, Gut-wrenching, loaded with Grace! Oh what our Saviour Jesus did for us on the cross!!! I'm in awe...
My dear Miss Beth,
I am going to be spending the night up in the hospital's ICU tonight, as we do not think that my dear Daddy [the one who had brain surgery earlier this week] is going to "make it" through the weekend... These past 2 days he has been struggling for air... But, he will go see Jesus if he does pass away, but we are really hurting right now, as a family...
Please pray for us...
In Christ's Love,

Was cooking supper and wanted to clobber the beloved husband with the spatula. Took a timeout. Read the blog. So thankful. Consider one husband un-clobbered, and one wife and mother renewed. Glory to God.
This is just a hard day isn't it...the reality of it, and the fact that I was reponsible for Jesus death on the cross. I never understood it when I was a child, but boy do I feel it now! I am sobered by Jesus' act on the cross today, I hate it that HE was seperated from His Father on Saturday, and boy, I cannot WAIT til Sunday!
HE IS RISEN INDEED!
Beth, I want you to know you have played a pivotal role in the life of a fellow coworker. She initially took on the "Daniel" study and then stepped up to the "Stepping Up" study. I shared the "Wising Up" study with her. She comes from a "dysfunctional" home and experienced some of the same things you experienced (she has shared stories). She is taken by you only because she senses that you have lived what you are teaching about and she can identify with you.
The point of this blog is to let you know your pivotal role in her life. And to share with you that she is living freer now!!! She has had some recent struggles, but God, Jesus, the Word and prayer have brought her through them. (We have had some moments of PRAISE!!!) She recognizes that life is not supposed to be easy, but it is supposed to be joyful, peaceful and full in Christ - "the peace that passes all understanding"...she has experienced this!!
Thanks for teaching the Word AND for teaching what the Word really says instead of what you want it to say! There is freedom in what the Word REALLY says!
Thanks again for you just being you!!
Happy Easter Beth,Amanda and the whole crew!!
Your thoughts are an exclamation mark on a most meaningful evening. We just returned from our church's Good Friday communion service and I've never experienced such closeness with my Lord and with my family. I think that even my 3 year old experienced it...he was looking through the pew Bible during the service and upon returning it to it's place, announced "I just love this book!" I have chills just thinking about the "awesomeness" of my Savior. I'm rambling, but just want to thank you once again, Ms Beth, for being God's vessel.
Blessings to all,
Kelli
I ask our Heavenly Father to bless you and yours and your ministry. Thank you for loving Him and having the passion and the desire to share His word with so many of us that need to understand it. Because of our Lord God working through you, Beth, I have the passion, the desire and the need to know His word better than I do.
Thank you so much for loving Him and us. You are truly His servant teacher.
Thank you so much. I needed that. This weekend is so very special for me, because He suffered FOR ME! How could He do that? Who am I? Why would HE do that? I am a no body, but in HIM He made me somebody. He's why I wake up every morning and why I can sleep so soundly at night. How can I ever repay Him? Will my love for Him ever be enough? I'll always praise You, always! I serve Him as a North American Missionary yet I feel I can't serve Him enough. Thank you for your words of encouragement and for your willingness to be used so WE can grow!
Beth,
What a powerful and sweet post! Talking about our Risen Lord brings tears to my eyes. Joyful tears. He had joy in His heart as He went to the Cross because He was thinking of us!! I love Jesus! I was just writing to my friend who has been waiting and waiting for God to move in their situation and I told her the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in her and He will bring them a resurrection! I have been thinking of the song, Then Came the Morning! Praise God that no grave could hold Him down, He lives and because He lives, we live and we serve a God of breakthroughs and miracles and sometimes He gives us an immediately. I pray that God would bless each Siesta with all they need and are believing Him for. I am believing and needing God to move a few stones for me and when He does I promise I will come back and share and give Him the glory.
Have a blessed Easter.
Love,
Patty
Oh, Beth....
What an awesome response you get when you ask the siestas a specific question!
Like you, I'm humbled to realize the life-experiences that so many are tackling at this very moment. But, praise God!, through you, He's delivered a precious message of hope for each and every one of us.
The resounding and repeated word in my world lately has been "power" ...God's power... the power He used in raising Jesus from the dead is the same power with which He controls all of creation. There's NOTHING that can not be overcome through God's awesome and perfect power!
Thank you, Beth, for mentioning it yet again in your moving message today.
Bountiful blessings to all of you as we celebrate the miracle of God's most precious gift to us all.
Happy Easter, with love....
Terry
Let me tell you what makes this Friday ever so GOOD for me. My 5 1/2 year old daughter asked me today about the cross. After my feeble attempts at explanation, she then asked me if Jesus could come and live in her heart. What can a mother say?
Of course He can. We knelt...we prayed...and her little face spoke volumes beyond words. I've had the opportunity to pray the same prayer with my other children, but somehow today, it seemed so appropriate.
While at Sam's Club this evening, she told the greeter at the door that she asked Jesus to come into her heart. The kind lady rejoiced alongside us.
Does it ever get any better than this? Today is the day of salvation. Praise his holy name!

After a season of illness and stress, I have just discovered you and finished my first study of yours, "Psalms of the Ascent," and your book, "Believing God," and I'm now reading your book, "To Live is Christ." All I can say is God has used you to resurrect my weary spirit!
Thank you, Beth Moore, for your obedience. I am honored to "know" you and thankful there are more studies and books of yours I have yet to discover!
I soo needed that-I have been up and down lately like a yo-yo. I'm like this little mess that God scoops up and puts back together every day. I desperately need Him. That is awesome! He is soo BIG that He knows us all and cares about us all that much! It blows my mind:)! HE IS THE LORD

Dear Sweet Beth,
As you wept, my tears flowed, too, for the overwhelming love of the Lord for me. And once again I know that if I had been the only person on earth, He still would have died that despicable death on a wretched cross so that I might spend eternity with Him through my faith in Him. Our Lord is so awesome, and He will meet every one of these sisters right where she is and give her His comfort in her hours of grief and rejoice with her in her celebrations! As I lay down all the burdens I have picked up that I shouldn't have at the foot of the cross, I feel the fresh wind of renewal in my heart as the Lord sweeps clean the cobwebs of my life. Amazing Grace....always is there for each of us! Thank You, Jesus! May this Sunday be a true resurrection in every siesta's life as she re-dedicates her life in service to Jesus. Amen and Amen!
Hey Siestas! I'm praying we all hear the sweet, ALIVE voice of Jesus speaking words of life and love to us on Easter morning just like our First Century Siesta Mary of Magdala (a woman who knew a thing or two - or seven! - about being set free from captivity). Oh my gracious! I just had a thought and it makes me so crazy with joy: every soul populating heaven right now has their own tale to tell of being set free from captivity. That's what each of us here has in common with all of those who've gone before us - we've all been set free.
I love you so much, Jesus. Thank You for doing everything you did for me and all of us in Siestaville on that dark, dark, dark Friday, so many centuries ago.
Warm in Alaska.
This post is very dear to me. My precious redeemed sister committed suicide about a month ago. My emotions range from anger at a Sovereign God who is supposed to be good to praising His Name because I know He certainly is good. Resurrection Sunday has new power and meaning for me this year. I now wear a ring on my finger that simply says "hope." Satan may torment me with grief and all of the "what could have beens", but I cling to hope that is grounded in truth. I will see her again and God really is good. My sister loved you, Beth. She shared some of your same wounds. Your bible studies gave her such a love for God's Word. You have touched so many lives. May God bless you for it!
Thank you LORD for your work. Thank you for your suffering, thank you for your willingness to do the will of the Father. Thank you for going to prepare a place. Thank you for the Counselor, thank you for the victory over death, thank you for intimacy, redemption and eternity in Heaven. Thank you for sisters and brothers who point us to you!
I am ever so grateful for what the Lord is doing in my life. It has been the most difficult year of my life. From last April to now. My marriage has been on the rocks and everything I depended on fell out from under me. But God... In His sovereignty became more to me then I knew He could be.My husband is still here, it is still in the process of healing but PTL it is in the process of healing. I am at HIS mercy. I just Love Him.
Happy Resurrection Day, Beth.
Thank you for your love for Him and for us.

Before church today, I went for a walk in the hills with my dog. I had quite a time with Jesus, me mostly crying. In my prayers, I thanked Him for the richness of my life. I tried to imagine what my life would be without Him. The only words I could think of were shallow and empty. My life isn't perfect and I have my struggles, but He makes my life rich and rewarding. My life has depth.
"I'll never know how much it cost see my sin upon that cross"!!!!
Thank you, Jesus, for Mrs. Beth's devotion to you. Thank you for using her to speak to Siestaville, and that Siestaville has the heart to hear you. Who, but you, knew that we'd turn into such a community?
Happy Resurrection Sunday everyone!
I am only 25 and all too familiar with the lingering ache that death brings. As I go through a rough week with a good friend, I can only hope that he will not die, and that this mourning is instead the reflection of what my Lord's death has done for me, and I needed a reminder of that sacrifice.
Thank you for your thoughts, Beth, and the challenge that followed. I pray for true celebration in our hearts for the empty grave!
Woo hoo for what God did through Connie for her patient! PRAISE HIM!!
Beth, that was a good entry!
Happy Easter
Why don't we? Why don't I just give up and really live --out loud, without a mask, what you see is what you get. Just Mary -- faults and all! People will love me as I am or they won't. I only want to dance for my King. I'm committing to Him that I will believe Him!
Thank you Beth -- I needed that little nudge.
amen and amen! have a lovely, blessed Easter, mama Beth!
Thank you so much for this post and this blog, Beth. This is my first comment but I have been reading for some time now and I was blessed to be in the audience this year in RI. : ) I count myself a Siesta - and though I was feeling very low and lonely today, your post made me remember that I am not. Thank you! And a blessed Easter to you and all the Siestas!
I hardly know what to say, Beth. Words are inadequate and yet I feel as though I'll explode if I say nothing. Thank You, Jesus, for the cross. Thank You, Father, for Beth. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
I once cried and could not stop after listening to a missionaries testimony and she told me I surely had the Spirit in me. God Bless you Beth. Happy Easter. Cindy in HP, NC
I am studying John, when Jesus returns to the disciples after his resurrection, the part where Jesus asks Simon Peter if he loves him... Oh, I do love my Saviour, how I love him! Today, after a week of what felt like nothing but trials, I am so relieved that the truth is that the word made flesh died so that I can live an abundant life. I am chosing to love and to live today. I will struggle again tomorrow, but TODAY I chose Joy (seems like I heard that advice somewhere). And my son keeps asking "What do eggs and bunnies have to do with Jesus and the cross?".
May God bless you and your ministry! Thank you for sharing and encouraging.
Beth,
I LOVE this post. It's my favorite yet. I especially related to the siesta who is on her 3rd pregnancy and has no children. I have been pregnant 6 times and have 3 children. My miscarriages came between my 1st and 2nd children. There is NOTHING easy about it. However, I have a dear, dear friend who called me after my second miscarriage and prayed with me and let me cry without saying a word. Then she said, "just think. When you get to heaven, you will be greeted by those babies and get to start raising them then." I cannot imagine a more wonderful Heaven than a place where i get to raise my 3 babies while rejoicing and praising Jesus with my other 3 children. Can you imagine? I cannot wait!
Praise Him! HE is risen! He is loving my babies right now! Talk about having the best babysitter!
Tonight I'll take communion with my family... We'll partake...I must glory in the precious blood that cleanses me and my family! Amen.
I came home from our Good Friday service, sat down at the computer, and found your new post. I am so knocked sideways by the whole suffering/crucifixion/death story. It just overwhelms me, it is so way too big for me; kept holding onto the six words I brought in with me: "God spared not His own Son" -- it is all too much, too much...
And then I read what you said: "Death never gets the last word. Not even the death of relationship. Respect. Well-being. Health.... Nothing can stay in the grave when He has resurrection on the mind...The violence that says something’s about to be different...."
Having lost big-time in the relationship/respect/well-being/health areas recently, been through the violence in my life, it is so good to know that His violation/violence is for a purpose, for our benefit; knowing He's doing something new for me, I am finding hope here, being reminded of His affection, that He'll never let me go.
This is Friday; I am so thanking Him that Sunday will come.
The power of the Cross...how marvelous that we don't have to understand it or be able to explain it or be able to put it into words at all. Just to be in His presence; to allow ourselves to be drawn to Him; to let His pain bring our healing...
Sweet siesta Beth, this post is a real gift -- I wish I could make more sense here! Brings hope.
Thank you!
Yes we are all in different seasons yet we are all knit together as one - one family in Christ. I find it fascinating how I can not know these sweet siestas but my heart just loves them so!
I feel their pain and pray for them fervently.
It is Friday but SUNDAY IS COMING!
PRAISE YOU JESUS for your unconditional love and sacrifice!
Blessings,
Kim
what a timely word for me. Just last Sunday, as I was sitting in church, I came to the frightening realization that I have been a follower of Jesus for 12 years, but have never fully understood His love for me. I have come to realize that I am very quick to accept and understand how He can love other people lavishly, but have a hard time accepting the same for myself. So, this entire week I have asked myself: What if it's true? What if I take God at His word on this and believe that what He says of me is true? What if the cross really is enough? What if I live as one who is fully known, deeply loved? What if Good Friday really is followed by Resurrection Sunday?
Thank you, Beth for your timely word. Confirmation central!
Well, I am gonna confess that I am struggling through your Daniel Bible Study! I am doing it alone which I am sure makes it even harder, but I think I might pass it by tonight because after this post I just had study. Wow, great words thank you for sharing your gifts with all of us. H
Thank you and bless you
I love you too, you sweet thing!!
kari
Thank you so much for the reminder in the middle of a busy week. I truly needed it.
Have a blessed Easter.
I just played Carman's song "Sundays on the Way" for my husband and kids...man I needed that song more than they did!
Wow I needed that
Happy Easter Beth and family!
He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams,
He's everything that my soul ever longed for, everything He promised and so much more...
more than amazing
more than marvelous
more than miraclous could ever be
He's more wonderful to me.
AMEN!!!
Precious Beth, as I hang another picture on the wall of my "pit", you have just reminded me to look up and declare, "It's Friday, but Sunday's coming!!!" Thank you for throwing me a proverbial rope:)
For some reason this Easter I am feeling the Grace more than ever. I read the story of the resurrection this morning and it kept me focused all day. I wanted to shout everywhere I went that Jesus is Alive!! He is alive and I am saved! Praise God!!!
Thank you for this post. Isn't it amazing that no matter what we are all going through in this life, we know that God is with each and every one of us, and one day we'll all be together, problem-free! What great hope!
Oh Mama B! That was beautiful!! And as I read it, thinking about all Ive going on and whats going on in my dear siesta's lives,I was reminded of what a great God we serve!! My favorite song right now and has been for a while is Lord, You're Holy. I love the chorus of it:
Wonderful, Glorious, Holy, and Righteous,
Victorious, Conquerer, Triumphant and Mighty,
Healer, Deliever, Sheild and Defense,
Strong Tower, and My Best Friend, Omnipotent, Omnipresent,
Soon Coming King,
Alpha Omega, Lord of Everything.
Holy, Lord you are Holy!!
I love the fact that Our God is all that and soo much more. While He is sharing new things with me and countless others, He is comforting those who need comfort. Protecting those who need protecting. Healing those who need His healing touch. I have been in church all of my life, attending bible study, and working in Christian retail. I know that I am saved but have always felt a little lacking in the relational side of things. Ive had a hard time...feeling the desire to spend time with him, one on one time, feeling like he Could be my best friend if I let Him. My Groom. As a single girl who's highest desire in life is to be a wife and mother, its hard to let God step in and fill that lonely hole in my life. But He has been wooing me for months now and Ive got such a strong desire dig deeper and start to let go of things. I have never looked forward to a Easter as much as I have been this year. Celebrating that HE IS RISEN!!!
Thank you for you words!! I needed them and once again you have been used by God to share something else I needed to hear.
I hope that you and your sweet family have a wonderful weekend!!
Love to you and all my siestas!!
Nikki
Thank you Beth for your words. We had my Dad's visitation at the funeral home this afternoon. I'm am weary to the bone but so refreshed by the kindness shown to our family. My Daddy was well loved! As I shared with my 10 year old daughter, Papaw is celebrating Easter with the Risen Lord (face to face). We praise Him even in these difficult days. We will bury him tomorrow and celebrate Easter Sunday morning with a fresh perspective.

BTW, I have the most incredible church family that has just showered me with love and blessings today! Praise Jesus!
I just finished posting on my blog before catching up on everyone else's. I, too, have been in tears thinking about the death of our precious Savior and the incredible resurrection. I posted my thoughts and my prayer for this Easter weekend. God's grace and mercy flow down on me every moment of the day, and I thank you for this beautiful post that reminds us all of the glory of Easter!
Have a joyous weekend!
In Christ,

Happy Easter to ALL of you Siesta's..you all are so incredibly precious to me and I am so thankful to you Beth for sharing your faith, life, family, and the wisdom God blesses you with daily.
Reading all whats going on with everyone, knocked me over too. What a privilege to be apart of praying for this amazing group of people. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. HE IS risen!

Oh my goodness, our dear Jesus has certainly spoken through your words-we've taken the journey that has led us to places we never dreamed we would have to face, Pollyanna doesn't like most of this journey!- we know and knew many of these experiences were not in our Lord's plan- but the deceiver has tried to defeat us and those we love-God Bless our children and future generations, as we attempt in our weakness but God's strength to fight the good fight and continue the hope in our Lord-Bless you dear sister in Christ-you encourage me, which means you touch each of your students uniquely, despite the number in your audiences- Jesus seems to have that ability and you are his wonderful representative and servant- thank you!
Beth... Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. It's time for me to let Him roll some stones away for good!
Blessings to you and your family this Easter! --Terry
hey mama beth
last easter i experienced my first ever Good Friday service..and it rocked my world. when it ended in a dramatic scene that left us in a dark room, eyes fixed to the cross, i was struck silent. i stood silent. drove home silent. went to bed silent. WHAT IF that had been it. end of story. close the book. for the first time my soul ached and my heart sensed the urgency to which we are called. saturday night i lied awake until the clock assured me it was sunday, and then all at once, PEACE.
HE. IS. ALIVE.
this easter i am thinking of two girls who's stories have changed my life.
1--eve carson, the student body pres. at unc-chapel hill whose car was hijacked, and she, murdered.
2--a young girl in her 20s at belmont university (tn) who not two weeks ago found out that the house she grew up in had burned to the ground...all her belongings inside...and her parents hadn't made it out.
both of these stories disturbed me to the core, but the Lord has used the timing of these events to remind me to cling to the TRUTH that HE, my hope, IS coming back for us. the story isn't over. it has just begun.
It's Friday but Sunday is comin! Praise the lamb, he is holy.
My church has done scenes from our passion play this week and tonight was our crucifixion. I could only sit there and think that I did that to my sweet Lord, those nails were for me, he carried my cross and he shed his precious blood for me and I am so not worthy of one drop of it but he did it freely. We are also at the end of our Breaking Free bible study and last night was the one about agapeo and phileo love, so I am so overwhelmed today with God's love for us. Bless your holy name Jesus!
Beth - thank you for that - it was beautiful. Brings it all back to where we're supposed to be. Love you!
Connie - what an amazing story! Thanks for sharing that.
I'll echo what several siestas said - that I love that we have this blog to remind us that we're not the only ones trying to "live the thing out"!
Love you ladies!

The Journey Continues~
A friend of mine died this week on her way to her father's funeral in Arkansas.
Dave and I just returned from her funeral today. Afterwards, we visited friends in financial difficulty, And now our Easter plans will change after calling my sweet mother and finding out that she is running a fever and has the flu. I sit and wait for my two boys to arrive from college after their finals. I too, want to cry!
I keep telling myself
"BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD" and continue to repeat and repeat.
I am thankful that we have HOPE IN OUR BELOVED WHO HAS RISEN!
I NEED JESUS EVERY MORNING, EVERY AFTERNOON, EVERY EVENING .. EVERY MOMENT OF EVERYDAY!
I look forward to celebrating the resurrection of our Precious JESUS this Sunday morning!
With "Heaven Bound" blessings,
Kim
I just came back from an awesome Good Friday service and so enjoyed reading this post. It reminds me of a song I used to sing in Sunday School-"Jesus is my rock, and He rolls my blues away..." To which I say, "Keeping on rolling away!"
Happy Easter Siestas and Ms. Beth
Dear Beth, thank you for your transparency and your heart full of love for Him and us. May you and yours be blessed to overflowing this Resurrection Sunday.
Yes, yes, yes to all of it Beth. A year ago I would never have thought there could be joy again - but, just as He promised, there is.
One of the things that just astounds me is that with all of those various comments, and really they are just a "few" in the vast scheme of things - He hears us all just as if we were His only daughter. How it makes me love Him.
Happy Easter Beth! He lives!!
That was absolutely beautiful! I, too, read every comment wondering how all my Cyberspace friends were doing and felt a sense of frustration that I couldn't hug the ones that are sad, jump up and down with glee with the ones that are happy, or share a Starbucks treat with the ones that just need someone to talk to. After all, that is what friends do, right? But if there is one thing God has been teaching me lately, it is to find my satisfaction more in Him than I do in my girlfriends. Let Him be all the jumping, clapping, hugging, crying, listening that I need.
I still wish I could drink Starbucks with all of you!
After crying all day, (over the anniversary of the death of my Jesus and the 2 year anniversary of the sudden death of my earthly daddy...)I listened to your A Heart like His Part 4 Audio. What a wonderful gift. As I drove around today, I did the "ugly cry" all over town. I know that people thought I was CRAZY!(which I normally, consider a complement)The poem about Michael and the story of Blair running hurdles made me bawl...they were so healing. I'm trying to encourage myself in the Lord today. Thank you for helping me do that. You are such a LIASON for the Word of God. It's like the Word is looking for a seat and your teaching ushers it right to my heart, and says, "Look, reserved just for you." Bless you Beth!
Sweet Siesta Beth, Happy Easter and Praise Jesus for the sacrifice He made!!! Also, please remember the Lathrop MO. school district in your prayers (I work in the MS office.) Our youth are is a spiritual battle (even tho most don't know a battle is taking place.) We have had 2 youth commit suicide and a 3rd youth made the attempt (Praise the Lord the act wasn't completed.) Our town needs to be lifted up in prayer by all Siestas PLEASE!!! We, that work within the District, are just shook to the "core". Please remember us!! Much love from your Siesta in Lathrop, Missouri!!
Beth,
You are a blessed gift from God!!! Thank you for sharing your life and love for God with us!
The link below is a video - "It's Friday but Sunday's coming." It's a very moving, special reminder of the sacrifice that has been made for us.

Im usually a girl of way too many words, but right now I only have two...
Thank you.
WHAT IF!!! What if Jesus came to get us tonight? Praise God!! Even so come, Lord Jesus! Are you ready?

I love the Lord showing off with the moon on this good Friday, btw. I sat in my church pew this afternoon for our Good Friday service. I have been going to my church for ten years now. Of course we are not a perfect church...like you say if it were then me being there would mess it up! LOL. Anyway, I sat there and watched one person after another, after another, after another that I had a relationship with in the last ten years. My heart was so full of affection for them. As I scanned my church and saw so many faces, even some at times that I have disagreed with, I felt nothing but love for each one of them. I was so overwhelmed by the power of the Cross. Not only that I thought I was doing okay and all of the sudden the Holy Spirit moved in my heart and I started bawling. I don't usually break down in the pew...but you know what...I really didn't care. I was so overwhelmed that someone like me can stand forgiven in the Cross. So taken aback that Christ already paid for my sins before I even committed them and that I am washed in the blood of the spotless Lamb who was slain BEFORE the foundations of the earth. I told my man that I about lost it (on the front row...I sit on the front row so I won't people watch and get distracted)and was almost going to have to walk out from sobbing and not take the Lords supper. Anyway, He gave me some self-control and I was able to stay. All of this is to say...I am so amazed at the connection we have in Christ...the philadelphia love born out of common interest for one another. There is nothing like it! Love to all my siestas!
Beth,
I just got back this evening from a wonderful trip to NYC with my 76 yr. old mom and my sister. We had such a special time together.
Yesterday on Holy Thursday we visited St. Patricks Cathedral.
It was beautiful and so special.
Before I left on this trip I had felt a lot like you felt...
there have been so many sad things happening to so many people and I was thinking about it constantly.
I loved this post today. Thank you, Beth for the Truth you remind us of.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Love,
Valerie
Praise the Lord! I pray for you and all the sweet siestas! That is exactly what we are called to do~ to lift each other up in prayer!
God has taken me to a lonely valley where He is showing me that He is my provider, protector, and healer. Not the mountain top but the low valley is where the green vegetation is. Oddly the lowest part of our life is where we grow and where we get our nourishment.
Today my good friend gave me the same Bible verse Colossians 3:13-15! She read it to me in the amplified Bible~ great!!
For all my Siestas~ Be healed in the name of Jesus! Claim victory and say it loud enough so that the devil hears you! We are all more than conquerors through Him!
~Romans 8:37~
Jesus has risen~ Hallelujah!
Beth- I recently had someone confront me on my blog regarding how this God of mine could allow such tragedy and mayhem in her life.
I shared a lot of what you shared here and also said, "When you believe that God loved us so much that He purposed His son to this earth to be sacrificed for our sins enabling our forgiveness and unity with Him once again... you know you can also TRUST that what He allows in the lives of His children is with their best in mind."
I don't just believe that He was crucified and buried and resurrected this weekend. I believe HIM!!! and I TRUST HIM. Even when my health, marriage, circumstances say otherwise...
I choose Him, I trust HIm. HE'S EVERYTHING TO ME!
Happy Easter Beth!
This was absolutely beautiful! I could feel the love of God surrounding me as I read the words. He definitely was speaking in your blog today. Thank you sweet Beth for this beautiful Easter moment. Life will be hard here on Earth for us but Praise be to Him for the wonderful things he has stored for us with him one day!
Those words were exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for your obedience to serving God! I absolutely love this fellowship that we share and consider it PURE JOY that we can share our lives and prayer requests with others!!!
I receive it, Sister. And I love you so! God bless you this Easter--may He come and continue to show you more of Him.
holly
Dear Beth, Thanks so much for awakening my heart to the reality of this Easter weekend. Blessings to you and yours!
He is risen indeed! Thanks and bless you Miss Beth and my siestas!
My husband said to me the other day, " I can't wait to see what it's like when you finally realize how much God loves you". I want to know. I realize, in reading this post, how much death permeates my thoughts and mind....and it has NO PLACE there. I want to live and live lively. I hear Jesus calling my name to come forth.
Thank you Beth for speaking truth, once again. I love you.
Dearest Beth,
This morning, I've been sitting at my very favorite spot where God has met me many a time: a gazebo overlooking the river that flows just a hundred yards or so from my home in Kenya. I'm trying to finish BELIEVING GOD before leaving on home assignment for 3 months. Did Week 8, Day 4 today.
Thank you for allowing God to speak loudly through you to me as a missionary. I needed your reminder today that Satan wants nothing more than to steal my faith...
Earlier this morning, I had sat in the very same place, feeling like the work we do here is coming to nothing, especially with tension still high around the country following the elections.
I'm taking heart. God truly is still at work. I simply need to watch. To follow. To keep believing. To obey when he asks me to speak up. To obey when he tells me to be quiet.
So, on this Easter Saturday, my heart is full of anticipation to see what God is still doing, in me and around me.
Very blessed Easter greetings from the Kenyan bush to you and all the siestas,
Adele
Beth,
You're words were God's divine timing. Praise you Jesus! I'm in my Saturday - the long wait for the stone to be rolled away. Can't wait until tomorrow!
I love you dearly for serving Him so obediently and speaking into my life this day.
To My Siestas dealing with death today:
My heart is so tender for all of you right now. Letting go is so hard no matter if it's the miscarriages of precious babies, fathers, mothers or friends.
I feel led to share something the Lord has taught me in recent years.....yes, Sunday is coming, but until then our Lord's mercies are new EVERY morning. I am a living testimony to this.....HE has made it so.
You see the Lord has called home 5 of my precious loved ones in the last few years. My daughter, my grandmother, my mom (all in 1 yr.), then my grandfather & just this past November, my dad. But despite all the grief, I have a joy that I can only express in one word....JESUS!
I accepted Christ as my Savior nearly nearly 20 yrs. earlier, but the rubber really met the road when I had to decide if I would trust Him no matter what as I watched my little daughter lay dying. I know the Truth is true and I know God is good. I said to myself, I know what I know about my God and I know I can't trust my feelings. I've got to trust the facts - I know that my Father is God Almighty & He never would do anything but what is best for me, His child. And though I can't get my head all the way around it, I know He loves my daughter more than I do. She is His child too. I decided that even though it broke my heart, I would trust Him even if He took her home. He did take her & through agonizing tears I asked Him how I would be able to go on & He said, "I'll show you."
And man has He ever! Hey, now I do have rough patches now & then & He has to carry me, but He always brings me through & I always come back to the same place....the empty tomb.
What Jesus did for us on the cross is astounding and THEN He defeated death! Siestas, we can live knowing our loved ones are living too & eagerly awaiting our arrival home. (even those little babies - & I have one of those too) :)
And that stuff about living free & being "real"- living without a veil or mask........it's the only way! Do it! I didn't for so long & I could kick myself for all the time I wasted. After what God has done for me & what He has brought me through, oh I can't do anything else!! Most people will rejoice with you but there's always going to be the ones that don't "get it". Some may even accuse you of acting like a "super Christian" (happened to me from another sister).:( But I say to them......"I'm not super but my Jesus sure is!" :D
And remember the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on? - our loved ones may even be in that cheering crowd! We've got to serve Him while it's still day - night is coming when no one can work! Oh I sure don't want to waste any more time - I want to serve the One that loves me so, don't you?!!! I know you do!
Let's "show Him" our love through obedience of witness & service.
I hope something I've said here encourages you. I wish I could see you face to face & give you a big hug. But know that I am hugging you in prayer & I understand. You are not alone.
The valley of the shadow of death is real & it hurts, but God hasn't let go of your hand....He'll bring you out to a brighter morning than ever before if you'll let Him.
Just go with the facts of the Truth you KNOW and He'll "show you" too!!
I love you & I am praying for each of you.
Blessings & Love.
Dear Beth,
I wrote a bit about the power of the Cross on my blog too.
http://www.clydemonastery.org/serendipity/index.php?/archives/14-The-Power-of-the-Cross.html
Today is the preparation day for our Easter celebration. You will be in our thoughts and prayers as we celebrate the One who makes us one.
Rich blessings dear friend
Sister Lynn
Thank you Beth!
HE IS RISEN!!!!!
Love you!
What a resurrection celebrating glory-filled day! Praise you Jesus! I am sitting at my kitchen table with my laptop typing as tears stream down my face - what a GLORIOUS post. Hallelujah, HE IS ALIVE and still saving and working miracles.
We found out yesterday that our yet unborn grandbaby due August 10 is a BOY!!! After 3 years of infertility and a diagnosis of MS last year for my sweet daughter-in-love, we are on our faces with praise and count it a blessing to celebrate in during Easter weekend. It has been a long 3 years. My son said he wept openly yesterday (Good Friday) during the sonogram, to the point of making a spectacle, but he could not help it. All the hurt, frustration, anger and despair of 3 years came out. He wanted a son so much -
I read most of your post out loud to my husband who is standing at the sink (unloading the dishwasher God love him), and he said, "that will preach, yes that will preach!" And he knows, cause he's a preacher! Bless the Lord, I know too - because I know Him! I wore my blue Believing God bracelet during this dry season and quoted my 5 statements of belief over and over and over and over.
IT's A BOY!
Thank you sweet Beth.

Thanks Beth for sharing what's raw. Just the connection I needed to remember. "He never promised that life here would always be fun but He mighty well promised that life here could always be full." Amen siesta! I feel the tides shifting in my heart...
wow. Glory to that post. Thank you so much. I am having a glorious easter in nepal. It's so easy to see the glory of the gospel in contrast to the millions who worship idols around me here in this hindu nation. They are looking at the "dead" and trying to live.. we as believers can look at the resurrected one and LIVE. I saw the glory of the gospel as we baptized 17 new believers at church today. This means rejection from their hindu family members.. but they were radiating with the glory of Easter as they came out of the baptismal waters. This EASTER I see the glory of the ONE the only as I am surronded by those trying to please the idols of a million gods.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow!!!!
Thank you Beth, for words that give hope to others and lift up our Savior. This morning as I contemplated what all this week-end means, as I thought about Christ's last sayings on the cross, I was taken back by His statement "I am thirsty", to think of The Living Water being thirsty is a new thought to me. God I pray to receive with new understanding the meaning of this.
Blessings to all this Resurrection Sunday!
Beth,
I am so touched by the statement, " May He roll away the very last thing that is stifling His effervescence in us." How I want to shine and be a fragrant offering to Him!! Unfortunately I often get bogged down with the challenges of life and I choose not to live to the full in God's power. I really want to live like I believe. I am in a season of unknown right now and have tough decisions to make. My prayer is that He would roll away any temptation/desire that would deter me from being completely in His will. Thank you, Jesus, for the power of the resurrection given to me as Your child. To God be the glory!
Beth,
I loved the line - what if today the deadness in us could no longer resist the sound of Christ calling us forth from the tomb? What a word picture!! Thank you. Makes me want to say Yes.
Thank you for the wonderful post! As I read many of the comments I found the variety of circumstances just amazing! You are so right, the situations could change quickly. As I wrote the comment about our tutor coming to Christ I was waiting news from my daughter. Her husband may file for divorce. We need a miracle! Please join us in praying for the salvation of our son in law. Also, pray for the 25-30 who will gather in our apartment to hear the Easter message. Yes, I think I'll just go have a good cry with the Lord. He is faithful!
after reading your blog I cant help but share this Easter Miracle- My niece was diagnosed with leukemia(spelled wrong) less than 2 months ago. The moment I was informed I immediantly starting calling my friends and carried it to my church for prayer. I prayed beliving my niece would be healed. (I know GOd can do ANYTHING) Last week my sister took my niece for more bloodwork and this week was to go back for a meeting with the doctor to plan a game plan so he said. When she went back the doctor walked in and asked her if she was a christian she said yes I am and he said good so am I so I can share this this way to you. He pulled out two pieces of paper and asked her if she could tell the difference she said yes this one looks so much better. He said yes mam your right. Than he said I am thrilled to tell you that your child has been healed. The leukemia is gone infact she is the healthiest two year old I have seen in a long time. My niece was healed and will always know that God has a special plan for her. He touched her at a very young age of two. A EAster Miracle indeed!
I thought you would appreciate that.
Love,
F. Howell

Dear Sweet Precious Beth and Siestas'
I have bee reading the blogs all weekend what a sweet smelling aroma to the LORD. My heart bleeds for the wife that is spending her Easter with her husband delpoyed in Iraq. My son was recently deployed in Iraq and by the grace of God and answered prayers he returned safely. Praise you Jesus. The Lord has places Soldiers and Military families heavy on my heart. I pray that we all remember them in our prayers and thank them for their service to our country. We must never forget the sacrifice that they give of themselves. Just as we must never forget the sacrifice that Jesus gave of himself. For he so loved the world.
This is a weekend that we rejoice and be glad for his is Risen.
Lord I lift up all the Military families to you and I ask in the name of Jesus to fill them with your Love and strength and bring them comfort and peace while their loved one is away. Encamp your angels around their loved ones serving far away and protect them from the enemey. Fear not to what man can do to me. For the Lord is with us where ever we are.
I pray this in the Risen ones name JESUS for he is alive.

When I was a kid my ten years younger and ten times bigger little brother used to put me in a head lock and rub his knuckels on my head and would not let go until I said "Cooper is the greatest! Cooper is the greatest!" Reminds me of what Jesus is doing in my life right now. He's put me in the wilderness... again. A spiritual head lock to get my attention. The difference is that this time I'm paying attention, I've got some big ol' Dumbo ears perked up and listening and I refuse to leave this "I love you so much I'm putting you in a head lock" wilderness until I "get it" clear as a clanging bell. I'm pitching a tent, planting flowers and having smores in my wilderness. He hasn't changed even one circumstance but, thank you Jesus, he has changed... is changing me!
Beth, you're so right you've got to mean it, gut level, the scarey dark basement level, that under all the shiney stuff, tunnel system where we think we can hide things. He is standing there, with me in a head lock just waiting for me to say: "Jesus is the greatest! Jesus is the greatest!"

After pouting all week, I think I'm finally ready to bring it all to Him. Again. To let that girl die and wither away (please, Lord!) and allow This Girl to soar, to live life to the Fullest...whatever that means...with Him.
Oh how I miss you, Beth, when you don't post and no one else steps in to get my bottom back in gear.
Hugs and blessings, Susan

It's Friday (was yesterday) but Sunday Is a COMIN' praise God!!!!!
Oh how I miss Him. I physically ache to see Him. This is so not my home and never will be. I remember when I was 5 years old and went to stay with a friend of my dad's who had two daughters a little bit older than me. It sounded fun but they live an hour away and I remember leaving in their car looking out the window at my parents as we drove off and having a knotting pit in my stomach. I got so homesick that my mom had to come pick me up the next day. Well, I miss Him more than that...day in and day out. The desire to be with Him consumes me these days. Oh how I desperately want to be in my Abba Father's arms. Yet, I have 2 children and a husband and a "life" here. But I'm never really fully engaged...I always feel the tug of homesickness in my heart. Precious Jesus, I am so unworthy and I am down on my face before you. I need you more than words can say. I love you more than words can say. You are everything to me!
I love your post Beth. You have the gift of words that describe what we are in need of hearing and what at times we are indeed feeling. I am blessed beyond measure (not to say my life is easy) but blessed none the same.
If it offers any encouragement at all I would just like to say to those struggling with empty arms, waiting for a baby to hold, those who don't know how you are going to pay your mortgage, those who have had an unfaithful spouse and whose marriages hold on by a thread.....hold on!!! Cry out to Jesus with every fiber of your being, do your part and then watch the One who raised Jesus from the dead raise you also. I have walked through all of the above mentioned trials and have watched God move in dramatic ways ladies. If He did it for me He WILL do it for you. Perhaps not in the way we would like but He will do it. I now have a son through adoption and he is the joy of our lives, my husband has repented and is now the most wonderful husband a girl could ask for and our financial trials seem to have come to an end (at least for now). So, Hold on...help is on the way!!!
I will say it until the day I die (and then for all eternity)....He is worthy!!!!!!
Happy Resurrection Day Siestas!!!
Beth, Our church has a Good Friday 12:00 noon service, it is one of my favorites of year; the solemnace and reverence of that service reverberates with me. A man sang "The Power of the Cross" yesterday in that service and I was struck anew with the Power of the Cross that has changed my life forever. I praise Him for the power to raise dead lives to new life. As my friend and I was sitting in chruch I was so thankful that my Jesus would do that for the likes of me. Power of the Cross indeed, to change lives, to lift us our of the mire, and to transform us into new creatures in Him. I love Him so. My heart is so full!! And tomorrow is Hallelujah!! EASTER!!! When Christ arose!!! I can't wait to celebrate tomorrow - Resurrection Sunday!! Amen and Amen
In Christ Alone
Beth, As I read this post three songs went through my mind:
1) "He still rolls the stone away.
He still changes hearts that will pray.
If you are bound by sins prison, you don't have to stay,
Jesus, still rolls the stone away." (Billy Fields)
2) "Keep me near the cross,
Near the cross, May I never stray so far, That I cannot see, what flows down for me, At the foot of the cross." (not sure who originally recorded it. We have a wonderful family in our area who sings it)
3) "When He says live, I have to breath, when He says dance I hear heaven's melody. When He says sing, I hear redemption's song, and He gives me the faith to carry on. When He says live." (T.K & McCray)
Up from the grave He arose!!! GLORY!!!! Have a glorious Resurrection Sunday. Blessings, Patti

Tears are falling, heart is softening. Thank you! I've read the first 500+ posts and was praying in intercession for so many sisters I've never met. Thank you for your servant's heart and this blog!

Thank you so much. Knowing that he will restore me and bring me freedom from my woes and that he is in the midst of them is very comforting. I am still sniffling as I type. Your words cut deep, as they should. What a blessing you have been to me on this Saturday morning, waiting for the Easter Sunday when he is risen. I pray our freedom is around the corner, and God can't wait to roll away the stone.
Thank you Beth! Our God surely does reign! I am amazed that you take time to read each entry!!!! May your Resurrection Sunday be blessed as you reflect on the love of our Father and to all who are believers, seekers and lovers of our Lord Jesus...Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with al joy and peace as you trust in Him. So that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." He is able and always GOOD!
Blessings
I am so thankful that the God of this universe who sent his only Son to save me from my sinful self also gives us a most Godly woman ---this Beth Moore to minister to the needs of women at such a time as this.
Thank you Beth for your obedience and faithfullness. I love you.

Thank you for the wisdom and the deep appreciation for what the law could not do, God did! I hope we never forget it. It just seems that when you are trying to take a picture with the easter bunny for goodness sakes and offering every bribe to get the stinkin child in her new dress on the lap that she says, "no mama I don wanna sit wit him." But finally she will sit on his lap as long as it's on my lap. I've got to think, have I even made a big deal to her little 2 1/2 self that tomorrow is the celebration of the most crowning day in all glory. I think when she wakes up from her nap in a few we will have a chat.
But I think she is learning to pray for everything cause the other night when we were praying before bed she prayed for her hair. I couldn't resist a chuckle. She is a girl indeed and already knows her Father promises her a hope and a future (since a small bit of hair is something she just recently was aquainted with.) ;) Love you so dearly
Happy Easter Beth. What a wonderful post. Thanks. I didn't check in until today so I didn't post on the last post, but I needed to read what you posted in this post. (Lots of "post"s, huh?) Anyway, I'm in a stressful time myself and needed the reminder that Christ is there, no matter the situation. I'm beginning a new business and finances and my husband's health are not great right now. But, I am redeemed and this is Easter weekend and Christ is RISEN! Thanks for the reminder. God bless you!
He has risen! Hallelujah!
With tears in my eyes I thank you for sharing and bringing a word of hope and encouragement. God bless you.
Happy Easter!!
Jean
Beth and Friends,
I want to wish each of you a blessed Easter! You're all such a blessing, sharing our lives and realizing that we all go down the same road, with similar bumps.
This Easter my precious son and his new wife will be a miles apart as he is still deployed. My prayers are flowing for his safety, that God will cover him with His feathers of protection and guide him in all his ways, but also for the growth of their love for each other as they do a Bible study "together" on their "date nights" via the internet!
Thank you Siestas, for sharing the stories of your lives. You are all special and my prayers are with you. I praise God for every one of you.
May God's love be with each of you Siestas, Beth, Amanda, Melissa and your "men" this beautiful Easter weekend.
Happy Easter~
Thank you Beth for the beautiful words. As for me, I am celebrating this Easter with such a grateful heart that my husband of 18 years has such a hunger for the word of God right now- and he shares it with me. This season in our marriage is absolutely amazing-
I too feel the pain and trials that the siestas are going through. We watched session 3 on rejection last night from Living Beyond Yourself. It was such an appropriate time to watch it. And I just had to pray for the women in the room who couldn't sit still-who couldn't even bear to listen to the entire message because something was being stirred up inside.
I feel so blessed by your messages and the way you deliver the Word to all of us.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Amy
Dear Beth and Siestas,
I had to share this with you. Friday night while driving to the nearest Wal-mart. My fmaily was hit by a drunk driver. I was driving because my husband hurt his back(we are the ones that are on Sping Break putting down hardward floors). Our 9 year old daughter was in the back seat. I knew that we were going to wreck. My life flashed before me. I thought, "I'm not ready to leave this life. There are things left to do." Then there was a loud bang and the air bags deployed. Then I realized that I was still driving the car and that I wasn't dead. My daughter was screaming and my husband was telling her that it was okay. So I was immediately thankful that we were all okay. I wanted to take the time to give all the praise to my Creator for saving our lives. Not only were we okay, but my SUV was still driveable. The person who hit us kept going. Drove through a field and just keep on going. He was caught 16 miles down the road(driving 74 MPH in a 45 MPH zone). Hand cuffed and taken away. I want for all you siestas to pray for this person. It was a guy. His last name is Hart. I don't know what age person he is. Thank you ladies for allowing me to share this with you. For whatever reason God spared my family. We are all sinners saved by Grace. Praise the Name of Jesus for He IS!! My daughter said after the wreck...Mom, Jesus is our Very Present Help in time of Need...And boy do we need Him.
God Bless You All and Happy Easter!
He is risen!

Hi Beth ...
So good to hear from you again! I'm teaching fifth grade this year after 12 years of being a stay-at-home mom. Loving it alot, but overwhelmed trying to juggle it all, and missing the fellowship of other sisters like crazy. Just this morning in my mailbox, I found a notice that a local church is doing your "Stepping Up" study on Monday evenings. My heart leaped with joy! Most of these groups meet in the mornings, which is no longer an option for me. So in a few weeks I'll be "stepping up," which is so desperately what I need to be doing. Head up, chin up ... better days are ahead. Blessings to you and yours this Easter season ... Thanks for your consistent testimony. On days when I feel like breakthrough and victory and wholeness are only for other people and not for me, your testimony encourages me that God desires such as these for all His people. So I walk on with HOPE this Easter season.
Beth :o
I had the same experience last night...an overwhelming, deep sorrow. Genuine and to the core. Life is good. And this sorrow came when I sought a time to remember His sacrifice on this "Good Friday." My husband snuck into my privacy and found me weeping. He just held me...thinking it was something he had done...and I whispered to him that I hated this day..."Good Friday." I read Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 to him. He read John 17. There was no way that I could even LOOK at the gospel and try to read about the passion of the Christ. No way. I was undone. Heavy hearted. Broken. It was as if I were there watching. Bawling, too, on this "Good Friday" and longing for His Sweet Face.
I bawled when I read this. It touched me deeply. Thank you.
I cry as I read this post...as you tell of other siestas that are happy, hurting, confused, unsure, needing love....
My heart hurts for each one...yet there is Hope...to see us through the good times, the rough times, because you see, Jesus is real and He loves us so!
Because on a Sunday morning, He arose!! Praise God! He is alive! He is our Hope!
Your words are precious. You have me in tears. I love the whole Easter weekend, and you put so much more into it! I appreciate your blog more than words can understand. Thanks. God Bless You!
WHOA... Did I just get goosebumps after reading what you wrote---yup--they are still there. Wow. I have had such a time Beth-infidelity by my spouse, a baby boy in ICU---financial problems etc. I missed the blog the day you asked how we were and I'm glad because I was praying that day about divorce. No was the response on that question so I'm still pressing on in that area. I've never been so moved and so connected to my siestas and to you in the name of Jesus. Thank you for showing us the fact that we all have scars. Thank you for encouraging and refocusing me this Easter weekend, Love to all, SHELL
Thank you, Beth, for your words today. They were the dam-breaker for some tears I needed to shed but couldn't. Tears are such healers, aren't they? Glory to my Redeemer, the Resurrection and the LIFE! Blessings onya', dear Siesta ~E
Thanks for sharing your heart.
Shalom, sweet Beth!
Sweetest Beth and all my darlin' Siesta's I thank each of you for layin' it out there and for being so real!
I too have been at the edge of tears all weekend but mostly it's just out of pure gratitude. I still am amazed - even after serving Him for 20+ years - that He died for ME! For YOU! For all of us!! Praise His name!!
He is risen - Hallelujah!!!
Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus!!!!!
Love to all this Holy Weekend!

Pouring my heart out like I have never done before, in all honesty...sorry. I know I am horrible. I believe in Jesus, I believe in his death & ressurection but I am so angry at God!!!
I decided to do what I have never done and that is read the Bible from front to back this year. It has been enlighening but also so confusing. I hear it said all the time, "it is God's will" or "it is God's plan". Why would a loving, forgiving God plan for the people he created to sin & slaughter one another? Free will? It is all so conflicting in me & I know my focus right now should be on the Cross & it is but WHY, WHY did God feel it necessary to go that far? Why did he tempt Adam & Eve when he KNEW they would fail? That all the generations after them but a few here & there worship man-made gods & idols?
I want to understand, I want the kind of compassion & love you know but the harder I search, the further into the pit I fall.
Beth,
Thank you for HIS truth through you. Sweet siesta's I am so blessed to be a part of your lives. To celebrate your victories; to cry with you over your hurts; to pray over you and ask HIM to bless and expand your borders. My heart is full of love and my spirit is joyful. May each of HIS daughter's feel the presence of the one who has proclaimed "every spiritual blessing, over you." I love you all, have a blessed Easter Sunday.
In HIS Powerful Love,
Celeste
Amen! Amen! and Amen! The Lord loves each of us where we are. He is concerned with what I see as piddly problems in my life when compared to the death, destruction, and desolate places that pepper this earth. He still loves me and is concerned with my distress in my life, and He delights with my accomplishments, no matter how small they seem to me and those around me. He probably sees the little things much better than I see them. What a comfort! What joy to know that my God loves me so much that He'd dirty His perfect self to make sure that I would never be soiled by death and sin again. Let me not take that for granted, and let me take every advantage of His offer of life, love and freedom in Him!
How forgetful I get about how much my Father loves me! I remember when I see my little 3-1/2 year old hollers, "Mommy! Watch me!", and she proceeds to do something new, like zip a zipper, or get all 5 fingers in her glove at the same time the first try, or when she can finally peddle that tricycle by herself, or when she says, "Mommy, I sure love Jesus. He's so good to me" just out of the blue...I feel the pride swell in my heart, and I know you all must see the light from my face wherever you are in this world. How much more the pride in our Father's heart and the light from his face when we learn something new about His world!
You, Beth, have caught me at a contemplative time, too. I am in a rough season right now, but I know Sunday's coming soon! :) Thank you for chatting with us today and each day. What a blessing to come together as sisters in Christ and just talk, whether it be about the weather, shoes, or our Lord and the life He brought with His death, burial, AND resurrection.
As I journaled today, "God I just want to rest up on Your shoulder, to be near to You, to feel the rise and fall of Your breath."
I love Easter! Friday's bad, but Sunday's coming! :) Glory!
All,
A wise christian woman once told me to surround myself with christian girl-friends to keep myself on the right path...but I only have a few. However, when reading this blog and the many responses, I feel as if I am chatting with the christian girl-friends that I so desperately need in my life; Keeping it real and straight from the heart. Today was one of those days when I needed to hear from my girlfriends...
Thanks Beth and blessings to you all~~~Nicole
Just had to share this... Last Sunday (Palm Sunday) our beloved Rector, Pastor Linn, preached on Jesus's triumphant entry to Jerusalem on a donkey, just as was prophesied. I learned 2 things that I did not know that I just loved:
1) Palm leaves were a symbol of the House of David (Israel) and a not to subtle message to Rome that the Messiah King had come.
2) It was lamb selection day for the Jewish people for their Passover feast -- a lamb that must be without blemish.
Isn't God just AMAZING!? I've been in church all my life and I'm still learning of the majesty of this Holy Week and His perfect sacrifice for all of us. Hallelujah (a little early yet, for my denomination -- we lose the "Hallelujahs" during Lent, but bring them back with gusto on Easter morning). I can't wait to hear Pastor Linn shout to begin our Sunday celebration, "Hallelujah, Christ is Risen!" To which the congregation will respond, "The Lord is Risen INDEED! Hallelujah!" Blessings to all!
Thank you Beth. I didn't comment on the previous post, but I was encouraged yesterday by your devotion from "90 Days with the One and Only". It was day 30 "Falling Forward". At times I feel like I'm close to stumbling for "perceiving the inactivity of Christ". My husband and I have been praying for a change in location for the last year and nothing has happened. Anyway, your words in that and in this post have blessed me.
Kelly
Happy Easter Sweet siestas
Blessed Be The Name of The Lord!
Love you, Beth.
Thanks!
I was thinking earlier today about the sorrow that Mary, the disciples and other followers must have been going through after Christ's death and entombment. They had believed, yet here they were with seemingly nothing. Not knowing what was coming very soon! I've been there this past year...having believed...yet faced with having nothing. At least so I thought. I am still struggling, but am finally back to believing! I am looking forward to a celebration tomorrow! So grateful for what He has brought me through. Have a blessed Easter!
I'm getting it! Let the power of God through Christ Jesus resurrect my dead life! Hallelujah!
May you be blessed this weekend in Christ Jesus our Savior!
I am crying and it feels so good to just let go!
Praise You Lord for your work on the cross so that prisoners can be unshackled and set free!
Thank you Beth for your beautiful words!
Our Redeemer lives!
Much love!
P.S. Wanted to let you know that I was part of our Easter drama at church where I was literally chained and set free by Jesus. I was portraying a women filled with bitterness and anger toward her father that abandoned her. (which is my testimony) I couldn't help but reflect back to your study of Breaking Free where I first let go of so much bondage. Thank you so much for letting the Lord use you so powerfully through that study!
I am free!
I just looked out my window before getting on here and my 70 year old neighbor and his 80 ish friend were praying by the curb, by the busy street. They were holding hands in a circle with my neighbor's new grandson in law who has got a mouth on him. But, to me, it looks like a miracle happened. Then I read your words. Praise God!
I just want to thank you for your words. I have had trouble this weekend connecting to Jesus. I am visiting family in Denmark - not much "church" or holy weekend here. We are going to a service tomorrow, in Danish, but I know I will fell His presence. But in this short moment that I can actually connect to the internet, I went to your site - what a joy to read your words about this weekend. Thank you for the surge of feeling you have started for me! HAPPY EASTER
Sometimes life overwhelms me. Then, when I least expect Him too, Christ overwhelms me. It's not like all the problems left me or a bag of money appeared on my doorstep...I just feel so WITH Him. I can't explain it, but I just feel His love. After I went to bed the other night, before my husband came to bed, I started singing "Father, I Adore You"...in the dark. Today I have had the song "Oh How He Loves You and Me" in my head and my heart.
I sat teary eyed reading many of the comments from the last entry. I stopped to pray over many of them.
Thank-you for your words today, Beth, and your faithful ministry to me and the Siestas.
God's immeasureable love to all of you this Easter!!
Melana in snowy Wyoming!
Oh, Beth...
I am speechless. I am humbled. I am awed by Him - and the way that He uses you to bring the Word alive for me. Thank you
I tried to put things into words, but surprisingly - or, ya know - NOT so much! - you have done it so much better.
I love ya Beth.
Have a Blessed Easter

Honestly I did think you were MIA, and then I missed the last post! but after seeing the number on it..all I could say was My My!
to your questions-"what if" -we will experience the love of our souls, dancing, laughing, and romancing us! And like you once said.."HE will look to HIS right hand and tell the son...look at her thats my girl, she believes me today!" Hallelujah!! HE IS ALIVE, FOREVER AMEN!!!
just an observation...Bible Study on Col 3:13...."When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature..." If we unpack this one and refer to the original greek I think the easiest way to comprehend the intent here would be to render this passage as follows: "I'm so sick of myself I could throw up"(Senior Siesta's Previous Post).Praise Him for delivering us from ourselves into His World!
I'm at my parents' place with my family for Spring Break. I am sick so I can't join them in their Easter weekend church retreat. Feeling lowsy & achy. But after reading this post I am encouraged to look beyond my aches and swollen glands and remember the significance of this weekend. Even if I can't join my parents' church retreat I can still meditate and celebrate this Easter weekend.
Thanks for the encouragement!
~ Leanne
Thanks so much for your encouraging words and for being real and honest!
That was beautiful.
When I survey the wondrous cross. . . .
Blessings to you!
I'm Believing God!
You continue to inspire all of us and give us what we so long to hear! You always point us to Him and I am forever grateful! Love you, Angie xoxo
I didn't get to read all the comments on the "How Are You?" post, but in this post I read about the Siesta who is pregnant with her third baby, but still has no living children. I just wanted to say to you, dear Siesta, that I will be praying for you. I was in that same position five years ago. By God's grace I carried my third baby to term and she is a happy, healthy four-year-old. She is truly our miracle child.
I know that God doesn't work in the same way in every situation, and His ways are higher than our ways, but I am praying for a miracle for you this time. May the Lord bless you, help you and comfort you one day at a time.
Love,
Melanie
hi beth,
i have been reading your blog for almost a year now and it has been inspiring to a christian of 25 years. thank you for your continued ministry.
i have such a troubling question for you and would so appreciate any advice you may give.
last evening in our good friday service, the pastor was talking about how jesus bore all of our sins. he said the worst sin is "unbelief". i struggle with unbelief. i just don't have a passion and love for jesus like you do BUT i pray for it every day. i pray just like they did in the new testament "i believe lord, help me overcome my unbelief."
why is this unbelief so strong? why can't i "pray it away?" does this mean i am not saved?
ahhhhhhh! i want the passion and i want to believe, i just have a hard time believing that God cares so deeply about me and every detail. please help me make sense of this. i am so frightened for my salvation and for lacking complete joy in the lord.
thank you.
Tears are stinging my eyes from reading your lovely easter excerpt - thank you also for your awesome insight and way of describing the last days of Christ in Jesus the One and Only , the 90 day version. Becuz of you my 51 yr walk with the Lord is filled with a new passion and love for His Word and Him and His awesome resurrection power. I now know why even as a little girl
I loved and felt so moved at hearing the Easter hymns sung at church - like "Up from the grave He arose". With renewed Love for Him i t now sends goosebumps all over me but a huge smile and a heart literally jumping for joy - hands almost raised and wanting to be (we are quite reserved in our church ). !! Praying the Lords richest blessing to all on this Easter Weekend.
He is Risen Indeed! Praise god He still moves stones! Love ya, Beth and covering you in prayer!
Thanks Beth.I have been so preoccupied with another close call with my stepdaughter, to even think at all. Twice in 6 months she has been hospitalized. First with malnourishment from anorexia and a couple of weeks ago from a suicide attempt. On the respirator and in critical condition for a few days. She has recovered but don't know what will happen next. She is 24 but still hasn't figured out that Christ can set her free. He is her only hope. There is a major stone to be rolled away if only she would allow Him to do it. But she chooses to hang on to the lies Satan throws at her. I am numb to a degree because if I allow myself to feel, it will still hurt so badly to watch. Thanks for the prayers in advance and for the wonderful Easter message. Love you dearly, Beth
"Then, finally, FINALLY comes Sunday morning…long before dawn. By that time the Father has waited long enough. And stones begin to roll."
YEEEESSSSS! Oh, come quickly Lord Jesus! Titus 2:13
Dear Beth,
Thank you for being available to us...to remind us of GOD. It hasn't felt much like Easter this year...long story, but you helped bring it alive.
God bless you Beth, thank you for being His vessel.
Love,
Angela
Oh Beth I have been on the verge of tears all week.
I have talked to my kids to remind them that tomorrow is not about the Easter Bunny or candy or eggs. Its about what God did for us.
My youngest son got up this morning asked me to answer some questions about God for him. Oh how excitied I was. I did the best I could and hope I did our Father justice.
Yesterday he took his Bible to school for silent reading time. I am loving it:)
I would like to ask that all of our Siesta's pray for my son(he is 9 years old) and that God will continue to touch his heart and keep him asking questions. I would also like to ask you all to pray for my oldest son. He believes in Christ but does not show as much interest as my younger son. I want this so badly for him. I just want him to know Christ better. Also for my husband that God would touch and soften his heart to Gods word.
I thank you all and sorry this is so long
Happy Easter!!!
Dearest Beth,my first comments to your blog, although I read them faithfully. You crack me up one minute and an endless stream of tears the next. HOLY! HOLY! HOLY! is the Lord God Almighty. May you, your precious family, and each Siesta be saturated in the peace & love of our Risen Saviour this Easter Sunday.
Keep Looking Up!

Thankyou Beth for your wonderful words of hope, understanding and encouragement. You are a wonderful friend! I am so excited about Easter Sunday and reading your words today added to the anticipation, thankyou!
I do love you gals so... and the LPM family.. I cried at Maundy Thursday service, breaking bread and sharing wine with my church family. I was humbled and silenced at our Good Friday service.. and have cried like a baby and tendered like no other year. Humbly, I am so grateful for His love and unbelievable gift for my poor soul. I hope to please my Pappa wildly this year.. by my love and obedience to Him.
Love you Ms. Beth.. thank you for loving me and bringing it home once again. Won't we just have a blast together in Heaven?
Praise God! Happy Easter! He is risen indeed! :-) WOOO HOOO! (That's Texan speak for Hallelujah!)

Happy Easter to you. You are so precious. May your day be great!
Because of Him all things can be resurrected. Bless you for those words.
Much love,
Angela
Mama Beth, thank you for blessing us with your caring and your posts and for helping us learn to love Him more and more. I am praying that your Easter will be especially wonderful. You must listen so well, to bring posts that hit home with so many siestas at the same time!
Bless you!
Amen, dear Beth, Amen!
Have a glorious Resurrection Day!
I stayed up last night reading all of the comments from the last post until my eyes wouldn't stay open anymore. What an awesome community we have here! To the sister who asked how to "join the siestas," all you have to do is come as you are. You are a siesta already. I hope that you all have a blessed Easter.
Our church had a night of worship and drama last night. They reenacted the last supper then showed a video of the last days of Christ on earth. It always brings me to tears. We are so unworthy, but I am so thankful because there is no greater love!
