Ladies. Three words.
Cookie brownie bars.
Oh my word.
If you should come across this Betty Crocker Hershey's Cookie Brownie Bar mix on your next visit to the grocery store, do yourself a favor and grab a box. You might even want to hide it under the other groceries in your cart. Another shopper might be too lazy to go find their own and take yours instead. That is called covetousness. And also stealing.
Mom and I (Mom, really) made these last night when we were at her house. Then she had the gall to send them home with me. Doesn't she know I just had a baby? I still have 7 pounds to lose!
While we were having our treat, Jackson kept interrupting Bibby with pleas to watch Larry Boy (of Veggie Tales fame). I said, "Sorry, Mom. But isn't this what you always wanted?"
When grandkids were only a twinkle in her eye, she began dreaming of the day when she would enjoy Veggie Tales with them. Only in her dream she is wearing a Larry Boy costume.
"Larry Bibby," she said, "I'll call myself Larry Bibby."
If, by the grace of God, we ever find an adult-size Larry Boy costume, I promise you will be the first to know. Right after Jackson.

Somehow I think bibby would be all over having a costume like that. My mom and I call her the "stand-up" comedian, that just happens to teache Bible studies.
I love how your family runs on desserts - moonpies and cookie brownie bars. It figures the "veggie" part would be film.
I'm sorry, but 7 pounds??? Our youngest is 17 and I'm still trying to lose "baby" weight (and a lot more than 7 lbs!). Honey, eat that cookie and relax!

Are you kidding? I think Bibby should have her very own Veggie Tales character named for her. "Bible Bibby" or something like that would be a huge hit (at least I think so.) She could have a really cute costume complete with great hair and all. She would be known as the "sharp shooter of the Word!"

Madame Blueberry, I love her. That's the one Veggie Tales Show we have. My kids were getting too old when Veggie Tales started coming out. But how I love Madame Blueberry. Love Betty Crocker also. Just send some through the computer. :)

Come on you two, give me a break!!!!! ..... I'd just sat down to check my email whilst having my "Activia Yogurt with sliced banana" snack. I had thought I'd done a pretty good job of convincing myself that it surely was absolutely delicious. Then what to my wondering eyes should appear but your blasted brownies, which to my eye brought a tear. To the top of the sub-division, I flew like a flash, tore up the highway, I made a fast dash. And into Food City went my merry ole self and my eyes with a twinkle did scan all the shelves. I found it, I did. I shouted with glee. I'm trashing the yogurt -- it's brownies for me!!!!

What is it about brownies? I used to make chocolate chip cookies religiously but since having baby 4months ago they just dont quite do it like brownies. It sounds very narcotic to say, but with cookies you have to put up with all chocolate-less dough. Brownies cut right to the chase and give you a burst of chocolate head-on! I swear to you one of my to-do's today..all day...has been 'make brownies'. ha ha ha! If I could only make headway with this stinky laundry...

Oh you guys are too funny!! We're huge "veggie" fans in our house.. except for our four year old. For some reason he will only watch Larry-Boy stuff, including the 4 animated cartoons. He's even named the floor lamp "Lampy".
My mom made a Larry-Boy costume for my oldest son... maybe she could make a bigger one?! Evil doers beware!!

Wait a minute, its BETH that wants the costume, so she can enjoy the delicious brownies, a VeggieTales movie, and her grandkids, and kids. Now, anyone have an adult sized costume?
The brownies, they look delicious. Thankfully for now they aren't a temptation. We're packing for a move, and not planning to bake for a while. NOW...in a couple of weeks, I may search them out in the grocery store. (GIGGLE). Meanwhile, enjoy them for the rest of us! By the way, Amanda, if you don't have some in limited quantities...your body will crave them, and then you'll splurge. So go ahead and enjoy them in moderation.
I will be leaving for the store as soon I hit publish. I must have those NOW. ;)
And the thought of our mama siesta in a Larry Boy costume made me spit my afternoon coffee all over my keyboard! TOO funny. :)

Hilarious! This post reminded me of the time my husband made himself a LarryBoy costume for VBS. He used an old hockey helmet - spray painted it purple, attached a couple plungers, glued on some foam stuff to make the pointy part of the helmet on top, wore a LarryBoy t-shirt and hopped down the center aisle of the sanctuary with his arms pinned to his sides!! Bibby could always make her own Larry outfit!

I think momuv2 is right - Bible Bibby would be a great character, I mean, is a great character. I saw an adult in the asparagus costume from Veggie Tales one time. They had made it by hand.

Had the opportunity to do a Veggie Tales promotion at a local Christian bookstore with my son. He was Larry and I was Bob the tomato. Go for it Beth. It's fun! (Warning: The costumes get very hot.)
I've looked for that costume- it's not an easy one, but it may show up just for us siestas- who knows??
I'm going to try those brownies- being that i love brownies--my favorite and then bluebell vanilla-yum..., oh and i needed the mascara tip too!

Wow I will have to make those for either Sunday night or wed. night bible study. Then I will have to stay far away. I am afraid I weigh more than my scale says, because it is not working. It weighs only a pound or two different regardless of where you set the thing, you know at the 25 pound mark or the zero. Ok enough about my troubles.
Bibby in a Larry boy costume is just hysterical. I agree with Momuv2, she should have her own character. Something like Bibby the head of (bib)lettuce who happens to teach the bible. :0) Beth please know I am just kidding and love you and your family dearly. I just could not resist. We tried them once and ever since then I refuse to walk down that aisle at the grocery store for fear a box will hop in my cart!
I like my sweets far too much which is why I'm struggling with my weight loss. ;) However I found a fruit that I feel is equally as sweet as my beloved brownies. Ever had a Pink Lady apple? Oh honey if you haven't get yourself one to try! I promise you'll be begging your produce manager to keep them in stock. They are so sweet and have a nice crunch too. So it really satisfies when I have a sweet tooth. And with a little natural peanut butter...MMM!

I was so surprised to see the title...I had to read this post. My husband says that dessert IS veggies...
flour comes from a grain,
sugar comes from sugar cane plants,
chocolate comes from the cocoa plant,
oil comes from a plant.
He says that if half the ingredients originate from veggies you can count it as a veggie.
So that's not quite where you were going with this post, but I always laugh when he says this stuff.

My oldest grandsons (now 8) LOVED Veggie Tales since he could just sit up. I remember buying him a video for Christmas and when he unwrapped it he was just shaking!
I swear we watched it dozens of times a day. My husband (who is a crusty gruff sort of guy) would find himself singing the Cheesburger Song.
For this little guys 2nd birthday, we borrowed the church BoB and Larry costumes and his dad and I dressed up in them and when we made our appearance, he could't stand it. It kept hugging us and touching us. I really don't think he saw us...just Bob and Larry.

We loved ourselves some Larry Boy around here (I miss him on the TV because now it's goofy iCarly and Drake and Josh).....the rumor weed, the alchemist, they are all good. The sound tracks and CDs are also really good if you haven't tried those for Jackson yet.

I haven't tried the Cookie Brownie Bars, but the Peanut Butter Brownies are scrumptuous! (and you have to eat them warm!) They are brownies with peanut butter chips in them...delightful!! :) I envy you, Beth, for being able to have so much time and fun with your grandkids. My three grandkids live in CO and I would give anything to have them come over to Grammy's house. What a joy that must be!
Just made that very box...an hour ago...took them to the next-door neighbors who are moving in tonight. Yes, I did leave 2 squares on my counter. Couldn't resist. :)

You all are too funny! My daughter Sophie (2 1/2) has been obsessed with "veggies" since she was just shy of a year old. My dad dressed up as Larry for a church event (for some odd reason everybody wanted to see the pastor dressed up as Larry) It was kind of a make shift costume. Sophie was thrilled to see "Larry." Not sure if she realized it was her Papa though.
Definitely need to try some of those brownies. I just had my second daughter (Molly) 7 months ago so I'm totally with you Amanda and my mom does the same thing!! I swear it's a ploy for more grandchildren (what's the point in losing weight when you'll just have more babies) ;) Too funny! You all crack me up!!

ugh. i am having a hard time with food--i just gave up dairy (for allergy reasons) and it is about to drive me NUTS! and of course my mental state couldn't handle the fact that i had given up so many foods that i love, so my inner woman has lovingly (my thighs would say otherwise) replaced my dairy intake with more sugar to cover the deficit. gross. all it does is make me tired and reverse any thought of exercise i have into a craving for something sweeter.
so ya'll eat my share...i'm off to find vegan cupcake recipes. that sounds so depressing.
the 2 yr old twins i keep are obsessed with bob and larry. i listened through the monitor for an hour the other night as twin #1 listed to twin #2 (who was already asleep) everything she loved about bob. and then larry. i think a life-sized "larry bibby" would put her over the top!

This is too funny...I was just looking at the veggie site and trying to figure out if I dare order the veggie tales dance pad, as my grand-kids will be living with us this summer. I could dress as Larry Boy and dance like Bob the Tomato, (who has no legs so need we say more about my abilities). If I happen to see the Larry Boy in a size large I'll get it on the way to Texas pronto..

I recently tried no pudge brownies (pig on the front)...no fat or artificial flavors. yum! coarse, I ate them with full-of-fat and artificial flavors ice cream, so I guess that kinda defeats the point.

So, have you been working really hard on baby weight, or just not gain much to start with?
I had a baby girl the end of February, and until I read your post, I was thinking I was doing great by having 20 left to go (in my weaker moments I tend to think of it as 15. as shocking as that is at times, it's not NEARLY as shocking as the {gulp}65 lbs that somehow attached themselves to my person).
If you have any particular secrets, please share! If not, I am just going to confidently assume that I am "special" and that it is HEALTHY to lose weight slowly. ;)
I wanted to share that we're in the "Patriarch" bible study and just this past week in our video lesson Beth said how much she wanted to dress up as "Larry" the vegetable for her grandchildren and at that time of the bible study she hadn't any.
I just love how God moves, Beth's dream of a grand baby is now reality...and I'm sure her dream will come true even someone has to make a "Larry" suit for her. I can't wait to see that picture and the expression on your little ones faces..

Just wanted to let you know about something that gets my kids singing the Word. It's "God Rocks" (www.godrocks.ca) It's wonderful! My 4 and 7 year old sons goes around the house singing "Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." They have music, dvds, and books and you can get it monthly. I Highly recommend it!!!!
Those brownies are awesome! One of my friends brought them to one of our scrapbooking nights. 4 of us devoured the whole pan! So be warned, they can be dangerous!

Mixing chunks of refrigerated cookie dough in brownie batter & baking is similar if you can't find this mix. It also works to place the cookie dough on top of the brownie batter. Sugar cookie....peanut butter.....choc. chip.......
My kids saw Larry Boy and Bob at our local Christian bookstore awhile back. They were so freaked out because, as one asked in a slow, nervous voice, "Mom...why aren't they talking?" It was such a hoot!
Oh those dang 7 pounds. Been trying to lose those for 6 months. I'm so mad I think I'm gonna go eat a cookie:)

Just wondered if she has seen the comericals about the "big hair" thingy you put up under your hair to make it bigger?? You know she watched tv late one night and bought that robe/blanket thing. Her hair is big already! I saw this comercial the other day and laughed outloud thinking of Beth Moore and the fact that she might like to have it!! Made me laugh. Oh, you remember how you photo shopped her with that basket ball player - you should do that with Larry Boy!! My kids are home from the Middle East - I am over joyed and they look so good and I got a bunch of sugar yesterday!

Eat only one and continue working on the 7 pounds. It has been so long since I've watched a Veggie Tale, I only have them on VHS...must get dvd's for neighbor's child who's going to get the second brownie cookie cut (oops, #3...husband will want either #1 or #2.) mmmm...those brownies sound good! I made a Larry Boy costume for my son about 4 yrs. ago when he was infatuated with the cucumber super-hero. Boy do I remember those days vividly! Some very talented gal had created a pattern, and when I found out and called her up (the things we do for our children!), she willingly let me borrow it. The helmet even had removable super-suction ears and all! Still have the costume, in fact--now in storage awaiting my 1 yr. old to grow a little more and fall in love with..."that HERO." (Oh boy...now the theme song is beginning to run through my brain. I thought I had completely traded that one in for the Star Wars theme song. Guess you never forget something you listen to that many times!)

I already have a collection of the video, you see, on the chance that I would have kiddles of my own. That, or my niece and nephews-I had to have a good excuse:) No, really, my fav silly song is the hairbrush song, a close second is the no belly button song. My husband thoroughly enjoys that one too, occas. he will break out in chorus.

So I bought the brownie mix for dessert with some dinner guests last night. They're amazing! After our guests left, I was sneaking little bites when my husband wasn't looking. Later, while he was washing dishes I came in the kitchen to sneak more. He looked at me and smiled... and had chocolate in both corners of his mouth :)
Here is a recipe I got from a neighbor over 20 years ago. I still like this cake.
Mock Italian Creme Cake
1 box butter recipe cake mix-mix according to package directions
Add:1 cup pecan and 1 cup coconut
Bake about 10 minutes longer than package suggests
Icing:1 stick margarine-softened
12 oz creme cheese-softened
1 box confectioner's sugar
Mix all ingredients until creamy
Refrigerate

OMG! These brownies are so dangerous. I made them for my husband's bible study the other day and actually hid some of them for me later.
