To my beloved Sisters who I esteem so highly and consistently find to be part of the solution to our problems in the Church rather than the cause,
Please join me in praying for our President-elect Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, and his precious daughters, Sasha and Malia. Go with me before the Throne of our sovereign God and ask Him to grant wisdom from above to President-elect Obama and the indwelling presence and power of Jesus Christ. In the words of the Apostle Paul, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior..."
Please also join me in the active and deliberate pursuit of unity and purity in the Body of Christ at this historical time in our country. I implore you in Jesus' Name to have zero tolerance for prejudice whether it is regarding party-affiliation, color (whether you are Black, White, or Brown), economics or the like. Disagreement is not sin. Prejudice is. Satan has plotted events and planted attitudes that, should he be successful, will result in havoc. We must not stand for his schemes or cooperate in a single way. We would severely displease God and invite untold chastisement upon Christ's Church in our nation. Speak clearly to your children and graciously but emphatically draw a line in your work places and social circles regarding your stand against prejudice of any kind.
"Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, 'Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.'" (Matthew 12:25) A united house stands. A divided house falls. The devil has much to gain. But he also has much to lose.
We are the Body of Jesus Christ and we have an opportunity to show His character. This is our watch. We stand for what is right not from our feet but from our knees.
I humble myself before you and make these pleas under such bold direction of God that I could not resist it nor disobey it. He made it a fire in my bones.
I love and esteem you so much. Shoulder to shoulder, Dear Siestas. Let's leave not one inch for the enemy to come between us.
"Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve Him shoulder to shoulder." Zephaniah 3:9

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 222 Newer› Newest»Amen!
WOW. Very well said, Mrs. Moore. (of course)
Thank you, Beth, for this word! I choose today to worship God, rather than worry about things I cannot control. Now's the time to put feet to the things we say with our lips.
May God continue to bless you for shepherding women in the direction of TRUTH!
Lisa (Reimer) Whittle
Thank you for your words of wisdom! It was a long campaign, and maybe not the results we wanted, but we do know that we have a great God, and He is the One who appoints the kings and leaders of countries.
I will join in with you, and other Christians, for our president elect, and his family.
Thank you for your work.
Blessings.
I am with you wholeheartedly, Siesta. I read the news and immediately prayed for our God to be with Obama, influence his decision making, and show Himself mightily to our leader. I thanked our God for his sovreignty. I love your boldness for the Lord. United we stand shoulder to shoulder!
Thank you, Beth. These words were very much needed this morning. I'm kneeling with you.
I'm praying for this great country... Thanks Beth
I've been up all night thinking of the right words to say.
You just said em.
My 7 year old daughter and I prayed for President-elect Obama this morning before she left for school.
May we be more unified than ever.
Amen to that, Beth! I'm so thankful for you and how God's Spirit speaks through you. We should be praying for our new leaders and standing united as the body of Christ. God is our only REAL and lasting security, so our trust must be in Him alone!
"The Lord has said to me in the strongest terms, 'Do not think like everyone else does. Do not be afraid that some plan conceived behind closed doors will be the end of you. Do not fear anything except the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy One. If you fear Him, you need fear nothing else.'" -Isaiah 8:11-13
Praise the Lord for his sovereignity! We have bathed the election in prayer and now must keep it up and not be complacent. Thank you for the challenge!
Beth,
This is so beautifully stated. As brothers and sisters in Christ, there has never been a more important time for the true and active Word of God to be lived out!
The cry of our hearts must be unified towards being
Strengthened in Truth, Grounded in Faith and Empowered to Minister!
I am looking forward to visiting your home church next week and hearing you speak more of this as I am certain that it will continue to flow out of your heart.
Blessings and deep love,
Pat Layton
Thank you, sweet Beth. Your previous post yesterday prior to election prepared me for today and the outcome. I agree with you wholeheartedly. This is NOT the time to fear, to hate and to be without hope, but a time to love, pray, and be a light in the darkness.
Denise
Thank you for your words of encouragement yesterday and today.....your wisdom is needed....thank you. I know you are right.....Our leaders need us more than ever to be united, to be heard.....thank you!
And all God's people should say....AMEN! Thank you dear Beth...for your example and your admonition. Let it be Lord, let it be!
Let it be so sweet sister in Christ!!

Thank you, Beth for your heartfelt and godly wisdom. My church in Bandera, Texas is doing the Breaking Free study right now (33 of us) and I wanted to say something tonight to the group, but wasn't sure how to word it. I just printed out this blog page and am going to read it to the group tonight. We pray for you and your ministry weekly (and I sometimes, daily) and appreciate all the time you put in to your ministry to us. Praise God for His Word and for Living Proof.
Jackie
Yes and amen!
Oh, that we would rise to this challenge! That we would surrender our hearts fully to the Lord and obey His voice! I will be joining you in prayer for our new president and his family! And I will be joining you in praise to our Father who is worthy to be trusted! May our lives bring glory to His name!
Wow...I loved your closing lines. "Shoulder to shoulder" it will be.
Amen and amen.
Dear Beth,
You are so right. This morning in my time in the Word, God brought this Scripture to me - James 3:13-18. "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, from the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace, raise a harvest of righteousness. I pray that God will grant heavenly wisdom to me and all those I influence.
In Jesus Name,
Janis
Amen.
Honor and glory to Him through us who will reflect His character.
Lauri
I have already been on my knees this morning in prayer for our President-Elect and his family. Your words potrayed what God has placed in my heart as well. I have asked Him to put a prayer in my mouth each day for our new President and our country. I want to be more diligent in this than I have been in the past. Last, but not least, let us pray for the Church, that we may glorify Him. My life has been changed by the principle that you taught in Stepping Up, Beth. In God's kingdom, the way up is down. Let us bow down before our Lord in worship with the words of Psalm 24-The earth is the Lord's. Praise God.
Thank you for your sound, biblical guidance. God knows. He sees and is soveriegn. What a privilege to serve a God so completely present in our lives.
I just wanted to share an election victory for the Word. In the state of Florida, amendment 2 was passed which defines marraige as 1 man and 1 woman.
As soon as I drop my children off at school I will repent for just being plan scared for our children and country. I will do what the Lord asks of Me!
Dear sweet Beth, Oh how I needed to hear your words this morning. Thank you so much for your wisdom. My heart was laying very heavy with disappointment, but you have uplifted me with your words and your scripture reference. You are such a blessed inspiration.
Love in Christ,
Nancy
This is such great perspective, Beth and is much needed for this heavy heart in a state that "changed color" last night. Thanks for being obedient to what He wanted you to share with us. May the LORD do a mighty work in the heart of our new president, and in each of us.
I have such peace even though I fervently prayed for a different direction. I know that had it gone the other way, I would not have committed to pray EVERYDAY for our president and our country. God is using this, in my life, to draw me so much closer to Him and I praise Him for that. God is so good and SO in control!
Thank you, Beth. When my daughters (ages 13 and 10) got up this morning, I explained to them that, regardless of what we would hear from the people around us, we were called to focus our attention on using our words to lift the new President-elect up to heaven throne rather than tear him down. I wonder sometimes how much of the failure of our leaders can be rightfully attributed to the failure of the Body of Christ to consistently pray for them. I know that I fail too often to pray for government authorities. I am praying that God will increase my faithfulness in this area.
Amen, SHOULDER TO SHOULDER.
God placed this very thing on my heart this morning....

Love to you, Miss Beth, you are such an awesome servant and role model. Causing me to reach higher!
Yolanda
Standing with you in the watch. Praying with you on my face for President-elect Obama and his family and all the leaders of our country.
And you know what? It has just come to mind that my long time prayer for LPM has always been just exactly what you have just written. God is doing a mighty wonderful set-up for us all to reach across the boundaries we have placed and just flat-out love one another. So I praise Him for this opportunity to love in His Name.
AMEN!
Yes, sister, Amen! Praying for God to press His plan on our hearts so that we will see His ways are holy. Thank you for these words today. And this: "Speak clearly to your children" already took place this morning as we were getting ready for our day. Yes, we must teach them now to have no part in prejudice attitudes towards anyone. Thank you for your unyielding words of wisdom! Much love, Amy in OK
Thank you dearest Beth for these words of TRUTH. Bless you dear sister...Cindy
A big Amen
Pam Southern Indiana
Amen.
thank you for posting this.
"We are the body of Christ and we have the opportunity to show his character.."You are so right Miss Beth. I pray our hearts are pure and right before God in the way we react and respond to our new president elect. I have already started praying and you can guarantee I will continue to pray for our new president. I believe God sets up and brings down all those in leadership and this is His choice. I can do nothing else but trust God and pray. And you know what? I woke up today greatly encouraged by God. As one of my best friends said last night over the phone as we watched the news together, "God is in control". He always has been. He always will be. Praise Him!
Amen. Thank you for putting into words what I was trying to explain to my daughters this morning.
Living in Alabama, I can only imagine the type of remarks that will be said. I pray my words (and now yours) will make the right impression on my kids and they will not succumb to the sin of prejudice.
I've been spreading this post around. Thank you dear Lord for giving Mama Beth the words to speak to us.
Amen to that.
Regardless of who is in office, there is One Who is on His Throne. We answer to Him, seek to please Him and our desire is to glorify and emulate His Son. We have been blessed each and every day with the opportunity to live for Him and to show the enemy just what kind of people he's messing with!
We will not give in to his puny tactics of division. We will LOVE. We will PRAY. We will SERVE. And we will watch with amazed anticipation for our Lord to do something AWESOME in the coming years!
I pray that God will bless our nation, our officials and our public servants with a greater awareness of His Presence.
"O Lord our God,
other lords besides you have ruled over us,
but your name alone we bring to remembrance." Isaiah 26:13 ESV
Again, being used by and obedient to our Father. Thank you for your wisdom. I agree wholeheartedly. You are such a sweet sister in Christ and I am so thankful that God lead me to your ministry.
Forever His,
Lawan Rivera
Phil 4:8
How wonderfully put. I believe this needs to be posted everywhere so we as Christians can remember what we need to do now, no matter who we voted for. Thank you once again Beth for putting it into words for us. God has given you a special gift.
I stand in agreement with you...
Proverbs 21:1
"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases."
...so it is so.
I join with you in this prayer and plea Beth. Thank you so much for your obedience. The enemy is certainly on the prowl.
I'm with ya!
Thank you for this post.
Amen, Beth! THANK YOU for this message, and being willing to convey it!
I have been struck with amazement by how much fear I have seen in some of my loved ones & friends in response to this outcome. Regardless of who any individual voted for, I was reminded this morning of Isaiah 41:10 ("Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (NKJV))& John 16:33 (I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]" John 16:33 (AMP))
We have nothing to fear in this world, but we do have an enemy who will steal (our peace), kill (our hope) and destroy (our effectiveness) at any opportunity! I will be praying for the Obamas, but also for the body!
Thank you again!
Ever God's daughter and servant, and ever Jesus' devoted disciple, I join you, Beth, in prayers for unity and glorification of Christ through the tenure of our president-elect, Barack Obama. I join you in praying for his family, for all families so full of hope throughout this nation currently wandering in the desert of dissention and uncertainty, and for the body of Christ's discipleship to be strengthened through this new administration.
Isaiah 40:3 is on my heart and tongue: "A voice of one calling: 'In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.'"
Always faithful and forever thankful,
Lisa
Dear Beth,
Thank you for putting into words what God has been whispering in my ear all morning. I just wrote on my blog that I woke up surprisingly at peace this morning and yet the One who is my Lord is the Prince of Peace, so why be so surprised?
I honestly feel pumped and ready to go -- to serve shoulder to shoulder as you said. I can't wait to see what the years hold.
A friend said she woke up sad. I told her that I woke up like I had been given the battle cry to "get on with it" - the purpose, plan and call God has on my life.
I really feel like this is our moment -- time for the beautiful Bride of Christ to come together, work together and MAKE HIM FAMOUS! Let's pray for the Obama's. Let's pray that this man that God has allowed to hold this high office. Let's pray for wisdom, peace and humility.
I'm so glad that the journey with Jesus is not like a canoe ride on a lazy river!! No ma'am...it is like a white river rafting trip. It is full of currents, bumps, sometimes rocks, sometimes peaceful breaks, but NEVER EVER a dull moment!! It is definitely NOT mediocrity...it is a WILD RIDE!!
I'm ready!!! Let's do it!!!
Blessings, friend!

Our hope is in God not government. We must be steadfast to lift our country and leaders up in prayer to God whether we agree or disagree with them. I am praying that God will turn hearts toward Him during this time.
"We are the Body of Jesus Christ and we have an opportunity to show His character. This is our watch. We stand for what is right not from our feet but from our knees."
Amen and Amen!!
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! I will copy this off, pray for our president often and read this to my children.
Melana in Wyoming
As I woke and prayed this morning, checked computer for news, and returned to prayer, I committed to pray for this new president and our country. I re-read Beth's earlier post and scriptures. Then saw the new one. I SO agree with it and it confirmed what God had been saying to my heart. That love conquers a multitude of sins. That prayer changes things and people. That prayer can unite us in a country again torn in half. It is the only way I can find peace and hope. He is my Rock. He knows the big picture.
You have such amazing wisdom Beth. Thank you for sharing this. Now we pray.
You know, this entry so reminded me of Breaking Free. I was pleasantly surprised when you had an entire lesson on prejudice. I found it interesting as well as inspiring.
Folks, if you haven't seen this lesson on prejudice in Breaking Free, find the individual file on LifeWay and download it - it is for this time!!
Of course, admittedly, I am anxiously awaiting the newest filming of BF....and possibly new info in this lesson as well!!
Janet
Thank you for the good reminder! God is still in control, and will give us favor if we stay on our knees. May he change the hearts of our leaders!
AMEN AMEN AND AMEN!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your obedience to the Lord. I know, we all have strong feelings regarding our political opinions, but those feelings should never come between PEOPLE. I pray that we as a church will stand strong in love, regardless of political views. It is only as we do so that we can shine as a beacon in a lost world that desires hope at their innermost core. We must show the world the LOVE OF GOD and the best way to do that is to show HIS love through us for one another.
Beautifully spoken. God IS in control.
Prov. 3:5-6
Thank you for the comments the past couple of days Beth. Last night after hearing the results of the election I immediately got on my knees and began to pray for the President-elect and for our country. I want to honor God with my actions, as his daughter.
Thank you, you've spoken my heart.
Beth,
Thank you for posting this. This has convicted me this morning and has turned my heart towards repentance. I have been upset all night and all this morning. (To the point of needing Rolaids!) I want to see the Body of Christ united no matter who's in authority in this country...as a daughter of Christ I know that ultimately it's Christ that is in authority. He placed our new president in office.
Shannon in Arkansas
Amen!! We are on our knees before the Father for our Country. We pray that the true Savior- Our Lord Jesus Christ- would be our hope of glory.
We are praying with y'all. Wonderful post, Beth. Amen to it all.
AMEN! This is our chance to let our light shine to the glory of God.
He was God yesterday, He is today and will forever be the great I AM.
Praise You Lord!
Love to all, my dear siestas!

Amen! I posted on my blog this morning the words ringing through my very being this morning is that old hymn, "Onward, Christian Soldiers"
Keeping my eyes on my banner, Jehovah Nissi!
Cynthia
Please forgive me but what is the scripture reference you are referring to when you said "shoulder to shoulder"? It has slipped my memory.
Amen and amen....
Beth,
AMEN! I couldn't agree more!

Beautiful post. It is not enough to vote for a change, we must purposefully be a part of that change every minute of every day in every situation.
Blessings,
Vickie
Thank you for this message.
Thank you for your words of wisdom.
Beth,
Thank you for the post. Because my husband and I attend a very large church we have very little access to our pastor. It is such a blessing to be able to go to the blog and receive a Word about timely issues such as this one. I have done so many of your studies, I feel like you are my Sunday school teacher. Thanks so much for ministering to me.
Susan
Thank you Beth, for speaking a strong word to the body of Christ this morning. I join you in prayer.
I join you in unceasing prayer for our president and our country. This is the time for us to live as the body of Christ.

Beth, I am complete and fully agreement with you. When I got up this morning I was sad, but God said "Fear Not!!" I will never leave you or foresake you or your descendants!!!" I praised Him and thanked him that his eye is always on his children. I am not afraid anymore. He also told me to start praying for President Obama as well. I love you Jesus so much!!!
Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to come up with the words to express this same thing to my friends and family who are surprising me with such bitterness this morning. Do we trust God or do we trust man?
Much needed words to heed. I have appreciated your thoughts yesterday and today, they have been comfort to me!
I agree with you, Mrs. Bethie. I will stand behind my new President, even though he wasn't my first choice.
Great Scripture that I had not thought about it. If we do not stand together, we will surely fall. Thank you for this Word this morning.
Amen! Thank you, Beth, for being a great leader... our Siesta-in-Chief!
Amen!
I'm taking a copy of your prayer to our Women's Bible Study this morning and request it be added to our group's prayer list for this week.
Thank you, sweet Beth. Our job is the same today as it was yesterday... we are to point others to Christ. Joining you on my knees...
AMEN!
AMEN!
We had our 'shoulder-to-shoulder' moment last week in Stepping Up...it could not have been more timely. I join you in praying and urging the church to BE the church. No room for hate. Make His name great. Love God. Love people.
This is exactly what my girls and I talked about at breakfast this morning. That God is never taken by surprise, that he works all things for good, and that we should ALWAYS pray for our nation and its leaders.
Love you, Beth!
Joanne
"We stand for what is right not from our feet but from our knees."
Amen, Sister Beth!!!! I am praying along side you.
Thanks so much for this much needed reminder.
Have a wonderful Wednesday :)
Hugs,
Kate :)
Amen! Thank you! I am truly having trouble with bad thoughts. As a Christian I need to get on my Knees and ask for forgiveness. Your post really touched my heart.
Thanks again. God Bless.
Beth,
I will stand with you and my sisters for what is right from my knees...I will join you in praying and not tolerating any prejudice of any kind.
God gave me many of the same thoughts throughout the night and in my prayer time...I pray we seize the "opportunity to show the character of Christ" like we never have before!
We must love as he loves us!
Thank you for your obedience and the truth you have put before us.
Standing "shoulder to shoulder...knee to knee,
Laura Beth
Well said Beth. Praying, praying, praying!!!

Beth,
I pray in agreement with you, and all of the Siesta's for Barack Obama's safety and welfare. May God give him strenghth and wisdom. May God heal our hearts of any hatred or division. May we be ambassadors for Christ, and may our actions show his love and grace. Amen.
AMEN BETH! Well said! Lord Jesus, we ask that you would grant wisdom and understanding to our new president elect. Lord, we don't know his spiritual state, but we know that you can work. Bring people across his path that will share with him the gospel and show him what the kingdom of God is all about. Lord we know you are sovereign and that no matter who is president, you are working. You have set Obama in the office for a reason Lord so help us to submit to authority and to ultimately submit to you, our EVERLASTING HOLY KING! You are the true King Lord! We praise you Lord for your goodness and for the times of trials you bring in order to develop perseverance in us! Thank you for being you!
Amen!
Amen! Weeping may last for the night but JOY comes in the morning. As long as we move forward in the Love of Christ Jesus and do nothing from selfish ambition and consider others better than ourselves we can see some change at least in His House.
I know that Pres. Bush will not stop kneeling his knees and neither will I.
I have respect for that office and I pray that God's will be done.
Thank you so much for putting into words, in only the way you can, my thoughts and feelings this morning. I pray for unity in our nation and for the strong presence of God to surround our president-elect. God is sovereign. Praise and glorify His Holy Name.
Linda in Oregon
Me again...I found the shoulder to shoulder reference. Zeph. 3:9 knew it would come to me as soon as I sent my question.
Amen Siesta!
Thank you for all your positive words and focus. It has been very hard with all the negativity. Thank you. I love knowing I can read your blog and you strive to uplift the church body and focus on how we can impact those around us and be obedient to the body of Christ.
You are right on target, sweet Beth. We need to show Him in our respnse to the outcome of this election. I prayed about for whom to vote and for God to put His man in place. The one who would be used in our lives for God's purpose and His glory. May we all became saltier and a stronger light for our Lord. Thank you for your oh, so wise words. Blessings on your day and your ministry.
Thank you Beth...this is my sentiment exactly. I pray for unity, not division as we need to move forward and glorify God's name in all we do. In Jesus' Name!
Thank you, Beth, for your words so needed today. I plan to read this post, as well as the previous one, to my Bible study girls tonight. We're doing the No Other Gods study you did last summer and are loving it.
God's blessings on all of you at Living Proof this day!
I just copied and pasted your post on my blog stating that it was of course your words, not mine. I thought your words were convicting and encouraging. Thank you!!!!
Standing with you Mama Siesta! Satan will have no place or any hold as long as we are on our face for our nation, leaders and citizens! Thank you for loving us and being so obedient to Him. This Siesta loves you and yours!
Beth,
I stand with you shoulder to shoulder, I also join you, face down as we pray for unity in our country and for our leaders.
Let the Churh RISE!

"This is our watch. We stand for what is right not from our feet but from our knees." I love how you said this, Beth. I've already been in prayer for our new President-elect and will keep on praying.
Amen and amen
This is absolutely true and must happen.
Thank you Beth
We know that God remains in control. Our devotional reading this morning was from Luke about worry. We must have faith in God and not worry.
Amen. And let us, today, as believers in Christ renew our devotion to Him to "Live this thing out" (as you would say, Beth). It's so much easier to judge others than to DO. Love does :)
I am so with you Miss Beth. I was praying yesterday before I left home ( I actually was campaigning for a local canidate). I was praying for the way I wanted the presidential election to turn out. And that's when I heard, WHOA!!! You are not in charge. God knows the plans for this nation and He is in control, no matter who is President. And I was at peace with that.
Amen!
Whether the party you voted for won or lost... please respect & pray for the office of our President. The enemy desires us to be divided. The earthly enemies desire us to be divided. They know that United we stand and divided we fall.
These are troubled times, but God is in control. Jesus wins! Jesus won!
Joining you, on my knees, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm. United in Christ!
Dear Beth,
I totally agree our best stand is from our knees and I join you in agreement along with many others to be in prayer for our new President-elect, his wife and his children.
Thanks for all you do.

Amen and Amen! For such a time as this...:)
Obediently and powerfully said, Sister Beth, and I join you in impassioned prayer against any foothold the enemy may attempt to gain.
Thank you, Beth. This is a right response.
I join you in your position of prayer. May the Lord be praised!

God be with you Victoria,Reidsville NC
Very well said. Thank you for the reminder. Standing on my knees with my sisters.
This morning I got up and grabbed my laptop to check the latest results, but I stopped. "Lord, I really need to hear from you and not the media."
I am doing "Living Beyond Yourself." I felt impressed to start the lesson for today. I thought: "Lord, Beth will have a Word from You through her message?" And did He have a word:
The lesson took me to Titus 3:1-8
What a powerful message.
Verse 2 cut me to the quick.
To slander or abuse or speak evil of no one, to avoid being contentious, to be forbearing (yielding, gentle and conciliatory) and to show unqualified courtesy toward everybody.
Amplified version.
I am grateful for the faithfulness of God
Thank you!
AMEN. God is good, and He has us in His hands, doesn't He? I have joined you in praying for O'Bama family. That is our calling, after all. I love you, Mama Beth.
I am with you - God is on His throne and His title and position and authority have not changed.
This I KNOW is true. This I BELIEVE is true.
But I've gotta tell ya my flesh and my mind are still screaming "WHAAAT?!?!?"
Yes and amen!
Your post really touched me! Thank you for being me back to focus. On my knees for our nation and country. Beth, thank you for allowing God to truly speak through you.
Amen!!!
Joining with you and all my sisters in prayer...
Amen.
Thank you for your words.
The radiant sunshine this morning comforted me, as I remembered Who is truly in charge.
Thanks you Beth! Once again you speak clearly and loudly to us in regards to praying for those in authority over us...We covered this in Steppin Up last night. PTL!
We will be joining you on our knees...and shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee...as the posts have said, as we pray for relationships between our two countries, and for your new president-elect.
Praise be to God...Amen and Amen

Straight from the heart of God by a faithful and loving servant! We are united in Christ, and should stand and represent exactly that! Thank you for the message that we needed to reminded of this morning. May He continue to bless you!
Beth, I really needed to hear that. I struggled last night with results and struggle with words this morning. Thank you for your words of encouragement. It is no wonder is was a 'fire in your bones' we siesta's were looking to our Titus 2 woman for guidance.
p.s. any news on when Esther is to be released for stores?
Amen Amen and Amen
My Sweet Sister Beth, thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom. I am joining with you and my sisters across this nation in a posture of humility and surrender before our God who is in total and complete control. May He be glorified!!!
May I have your permission to pass on your words to a few friends who are experiencing dissapointment?
AMEN Siesta!
You are a wise women who truly helps us understand the word of God and the true meaning of being a Christian! Although many of us may not agree with the outcome of the election, we as Christians must continue to pray for faithful leadership of our country. Thank you for your words in inspiration! I only wish I had your gift to help people understand. I have shared your LPM Blog with friends to say what I can not. God Bless
Amen, Beth. Thank you for posting, and I hope you don't mind, I will be linking to this one also. It is important that these words be read.
Agreed and praying. I woke up with fear in my heart this morning but was reminded that Fear does not come from God but from not believing Him. But God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I choose to believe God at His Word, If God be for us, who can be against us, and I will pray for our new president.
Me again...had to pass on good news to my sisters out there...in the state of California (pretty liberal state!), proposition 8 has passed as defining marriage as an institution between one man and one woman! Praise the Lord!
Thank you, Beth. This is such a good word! I have seen so many of my Christian friends post disparaging comments already about our new president and it makes me sad.
No matter what side of the fence we stand on, it's time to come together. :)
Thank you for your words of wisdom that can only come from our Heavenly Father above! I am sad and I have been fearful but I know truth...and fear does not come from God...I will choose this day to trust in God...to believe that He is still on His throne...to know that He is not wringing His hands in disbelief but is the great I AM! All praise to Him and may we be His witnesses...His faithful servants...following His truths. I also have prayed for our president elect, for wisdom beyond this world!!!
Thank you, dear Beth. God has certainly raised you up for just a time as this. (((Hugs)))
Thank you so much for that, Beth! You totally changed my attitude this morning! Thank you for those wise and true words!
Blessings
Michelle
Beautiful post, Mama Siesta!! I join you and the rest of my "siestas" in prayer for our president, our country, and our world!
thank you , Beth, for clearly stating what in my heart I am feeling this morning. I wonder if we had all prayed more for President Bush, his presidency would not have been so attacked! My husband and I talked this morning about how we must move on, knowing we are "anchored" to the One who controls all things! Thank you for your encouragement to us all!
As a girl raised in the deep South in the 50-60's, I was brought up surrounded by prejudice. I thank my Savior for taking those feelings from me years ago. As I said in my blog, I know who is in control and it is not a mere man but a holy, sovereign, perfect God. He is in control and I put my trust and faith in him alone.
I awoke this morning with the verse "...Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's and unto God the things which be God's." Luke 20:25 on my heart. The title belongs to the president-elect, but the Kingdom belongs to God. Thank you for your encouragement to me. I ask for prayer as I moment by moment roll my burden of fear onto the Sovereign Lord. Deidra
Yes!
Amen and Amen!!! Thank you Beth.
With love & prayers,
Kim
Amen, Beth. You echoed the cry of my heart this morning.
My daughter is 4, and I was explaining the process to her as simply as I could yesterday. She was very excited about going with Mama to "float" for the president! But while explaining to her who the president was, I told her that he was the man in charge of all the states. Her immediate response was "But God is really in charge, right?"
Amen, baby. Yes, He is.
In the words of the Apostle Paul, "Jesus Christ came to save sinners" -- and I'm the worst of them. I have been the guiltiest of offenders in this arena in the past: sharing "cute" or "funny" emails or jokes, justifying it to myself and feeling like it's okay since it was private and my audience wasn't personally offended. The Lord really called me on the carpet for that a few months ago. Even though I wasn't directly affronting anyone, it's still SIN. It isn't funny, ever. It isn't okay, ever. Keeping that kind of thing going only perpetuates the problem. So my challenge to us all is this: Let's not just keep prejudice from our lips. Let's remove it from our hearts!!! I want to come up higher. Join me in my personal repentence and let's all "Step UP"! Thank you, Beth, for all you've taught me and all you've done. Camille Warren, Texarkana, Texas
Amen, my dear Sister. I have already been in prayer for our new President-elect.
Well said Beth!
I am so glad that you did this. It is so very important. Every night, we have prayed for this election, for mercy on this country for our sins and my personal sins.
After I realized that Obama had won last night, we did our nightly Bible study. We are on John right now, reading a chapter a night and having discussion. Last night we read chapter three and then we all prayed for Obama and McCain.
We all need to remember that God is in control. I am praying for revival in this country. So many Christians have been so negative and I know things are really bad. However, I do not think it is healthy to feel hopeless over this country. Let's pray for our new President elect and his family. Let's pray for John McCain and his family, for peace.
People's souls are more important than anything. Let's pray for revival and people to come to Christ.
Beth, I am getting so excited...Converge is almost here! I am excited to bring my family for a Christmas celebration. I'll be praying for your message that night. This will help soften my heartache for my first year away from my extended family.
Thank you for helping us see things from the right perspective. "They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love, they will know we are Christians by our love."
Amen. I know that God is in control of this whole situation. He sets up kings and diposes them as well. We would all do good to just Be Stil and Know that He is God.
Already on board.
Yesterday, after I came home from voting, I found this verse,
"A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary." (Jer. 17:12)
I've encountered several people today who are dejected by the results of the election and I've passed this verse on. Regardless of party affiliation, as believers, we are never powerless. Our place of refuge is the seat of eternal power.
Thank you, Beth. I will try to pass on your message as well.
Amen and Amen!!!!! Thank you for that great word.
An e-mail went around just before the election that was very appropriate.....I pray this isn't to long to share.....

amen. All i could think of is how David honored the anointed king Saul...even after the evail that Saul had brought on to David personally. We are to honor the man God has appointed for this time.
I JUST GOT ESTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO EXCITED!! NOTHING CAN RAIN ON MY PARADE!!!!
The whole world is right with me today!!! Hallelujah!!!!
Exactly my thoughts as I gathered my older sons in prayer last night after midnight. We surrendered our tears to God and asked him to seed our hearts with the truth of who He Is...King Jesus...on the throne--no matter what.
There is coming a day. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
peace~elaine
THANK YOU, I began my day with praise to our Awesome Amazing God, because I know He's is in control of all things. You said it perfectly and I have shared your message w/ several friends.
Thank You for the encouraging words today! Thanks be to God for our Hope is in Him!
Thank you again, sister Beth, for your wise words. I believe it is a new day in the North American church, and i praise God that more and more hearts are moving away from partisan, racial, and class divisions and being united in the real, indisputable truth, the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God bless you for these strong words and I praise God for this historical time in our nation's history and am praying for wisdom for our leadership and unity in Christ for the body.
Love you to P-I-E-C-E-S. :)

Shoulder to shoulder! Exactly were we should be!
There may be a change in who occupies the White House..but there will NEVER be a change in who occupies GOD's throne!!
Blessings!
Teresa
Thank you again for your ever-encouraging words! I will be in prayer for President-elect Obama, his wife, and his children. I will also be in prayer for unity in the body of Christ. I am standing shoulder to shoulder with you and my other brothers and sisters in Christ.
And again ... "Amen!"
God is sovereignly, mightily, and emphatically in control! All praises to Him everlastingly!
As 2 Peter 3:9 states, “the Lord is not slow about His promise as some count slowness, but is patient…not wishing any to parish…”
And also Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
(Note: scripture is taken from the New American Standard from bible.com)
My dear kindred (in MANY ways)sister Beth, amen and amen in Christ Jesus. My heart was stirred to intense intercession this morning for our President elect Obama...and his wife!! I am thankful for what God showed me in the Spirit and how He released my fears and brought perfect peace as I intentionally made my mind stedfast on Him. This is what He showed/spoke to me. "Indeed I am no respector of persons and as My child and representative on earth...I dare you not be either." I admit my immaturity and sin, that I stood prejudice not of his race but of what I think his relationship is with Christ. Lord have mercy on me and forgive me!!! Thank you Beth for what you wrote becuase it confirmed what Daddy had been showing me about myself...something I did not even know existed. I stand amazed by His grace, in such need of His mercy, and humbled by His call...specifically His call to pray for our new President. I see one of the major places we have missed the mark in America - our besetting sin if you will - is that we degrade God's creation in other human beings. O how that must break the Father's heart! Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit Paul tells us that God has chosen the world's insignificant and despised things - the things viewed as nothing - so HE might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something, so that no one can boast in His presence. I am in no way suggesting President-elect Obama as insignificant but rather saying he represents a people who America has said in times past were insignificant by way of slavery. Not to be disrespectful, but when I think of slavery I cannot help to think of myself as well. So...I've come to see President elect Obama represents me too. Once I was held captive to satan but in Christ Jesus I have been given freedom. I am praying for a revelation of Christ so that He be lifted up and draw ALL men to Himself. One last thing, I've noticed so much humility today on every show covering the election ... hmmmmm...God IS in control!
Beth, I thank God for who you are in Christ!
Thank you so much for being obedient to God and writing this today. I am so thankful for the verses you shared because I needed to be reminded of that. I will join you in praying for President-elect Barack Obama and his family.
Love,
Patty
Thank you for saying what I believe is the truth about these things. When things turn into slander, malicious talk, prejudice, anger, etc. I do not see how this is glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe this should make Christians of all races, etc, pray more. We have not been "prayed up" as a body for years, it's time. Jesus is calling on us to love, and love well. Terrific post!
AMEN! Thank you for this---and for EVERY single Bible Study that you have written! God is using it to work in the hearts of many!
One thing we know for sure. The outcome of the election did not take God by surprise. Nor, does it limit His power.
Pray for them is EXACTLY what we should do :)
Beth, thank you so much for your encouraging words. I just finished your "psalms of ascent" study yesterday with about 30 other women. I truly felt like we were standing shoulder to shoulder as we left.
Amy Santa Rosa,Ca
Thank you for that word, Sista Beth! Well-timed and well-said!
As soon as I remove my sackcloth and put on my jeans I KNOW I'll be agreeing with you Beth!
AMEN! Shoulder to shoulder with all of you!
Yes and Amen!
Beth, thank you as always for your perspective! This morning I was tempted to be upset about the outcome and worry about our Nation's next 4 years, but your words are just what I needed to hear. Thank you for your obedience.
With much love,
Linda
Oh, how we love you, Mama Beth! Thank you for hearing and obeying what God said- What a powerful word for us today! You are right: This is our time to shine the light of Christ like never before! And we should never underestimate the power of prayer nor the power of our God! He is in control!
Much love and gratitude for you!
Tara
Amen! These are very trying and disturbing times. Satan is clearly plotting against us and we must stay on the knees.
WE must pray that this president hear and obey God. It is our responsibility to help lead this nation through prayer.
Wow - goosebumps! AMEN! Standing with you.
I agree completely, Beth. I've been in prayer for the Obama family already today.. God is faithful and He is on His throne FOREVER!!!
Linda
God has given me this morning a reminder...this is a Fiery Furnace in history! God is with us in the heat...standing by our side. The heat is hot, times are tough! Let us be as faithful as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Let us continue to speak the name of the Lord and follow in obedience! He will protect us from the heat...we will not be burned! And may our leaders come to the same conclusion as King Nebuchadnezzar...God is the MOST HIGH GOD!!
Thank you Beth for your faithfulness! God uses you to teach me many things...daily!!
You are loved!
thank you for posting this. it is truly a time of change in this great nation. I'm confident that our Heavenly Father is in total control.
Thank you for this word in due season!
I agree and join with you in having 'zero tolerance for prejudice whether it is regarding party-affiliation, color (whether you are Black, White, or Brown), economics or the like.'
And now one of my favorite verses..."The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills." (Proverbs 21:1 - amplified)
If our leader's heart is in the hand of the Lord, well then, we are in good hands! :o)
AMEN!!!!
Well said....I will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with my sisters in prayer!
Amen and amen. We have talking all morning about respecting the people in authority..ALL people in authority.
Thank you for this..
Hugs!
stephanie
Thank you, Beth. I woke up this morning angry and full of animosity. Then, during my Bible study at church(Beloved Disciple), I could feel God speaking to my heart urging me to confess my anger and be filled with His love instead. I decided to support and pray for our new president even though I don't agree with him on the issues. I feel so much better. God is in control. He is sovereign and He is good.
Yes! Romans 13:1-7 gave me great direction today and I appreciate your post!
Your post on Nov. 4 was an excellent reminder for us all! Thank you! I began work part time this week at our local Lifeway store. It was very interesting I thought that we were receiving shipments of your new study on Esther--how timely--for such a time as this! Can't wait to do the study! Thanks again!
I have been thinking on what I would like to say today in my blog regarding this time. Your words have given language to what is stirred in my spirit. At this time, my studies in the Bible are focused on Israel and God as their Father, God as my Father. Though His ways are not mine (thankfully) I sense Him working here and now is not a time to ignore His call to us. I pray no Christ follower sees this as a time to grow lazy but to be spurred on in urgency that the fire of the Holy Spirit burn with out quenching bringing us to unity, and all that resembles Christ.
Amen. I must admit that I am not pleased with the outcome of the election, but I beleive that God is on the only throne that will stand, and he has placed this man in this position at this time for a reason, and for that Mr. Obama deserves our respect. Thank you for such wonderful encouragement!
Beth:
Thank you for this post. I totally agree with you.

Dear Beth,
Thank you for recognizing the fire in your bones and speaking to us regarding what God has compelled you to speak to us. United we stand shoulder to shoulder! I join you in praying for our President-elect, Barack Obama, and his family.
Love you,
Dianne
WOW, you never cease to amaze me with your powerful words and prayers. I am printing today's blog for my hubby and teenage sons to read and pray. It has to go further than just the siesta's for it to work. bless you always sister.
Thank you, precious Beth! God is leading me the very same way and He has given me a peace that passes all understanding during this whole process. I praise Him for that! And I thank Him for you, my precious Sister (Siesta). As a side note, last night I had a dream that about 8 or 10 siestas were sitting around a table with you...and then God had us lay our hands on you and pray over you. Oh how I would love to do that in person, but just know that I will be praying for you and this important ministry (and so are and will many others). Much love, Jax
Thank you Beth. I actually was praying before I got out of bed this morning about my own initial instincts to feel some sort of prejudiceness (is that a word??). I live in SC where racism is alive and well and I hate it. But I also realized how it has seeped in and worked negatively on my thoughts and attitudes, too. :( I believe every word you wrote and I'm praying with you on that!
Much love,
Missy
"He sets up kings and deposes them"
Amen Beth!
When my ten-year old daughter read the headlines of the paper, she began to weep. She wept for her nation and for God's principles. God spoke to my heart...That's it, she understands. I was so encouraged in that moment and I eagerly anticipate the revival that is going to sweep across this nation. I can't wait to see lives changed and transformed by God's Word. I walk today in victory because God is on the throne and I am blessed to watch what is about to happen!
I thank God that He put those words on your heart today to share. I needed to hear them. I woke up bitter this morning with a pounding headache and a worried heart. But the Lord has placed several people in my path today, already, who have reminded me that God IS in control - no matter what.
Thank you!
Amen dear sister! Shoulder to shoulder standing with you in prayer. God was in control yesterday, He's in control today (and EVERYDAY). We need to love, and step up like never before and pray for President-elect Obama and our nation as a whole. I'm humbled by your obedience to God's impassioned promting.
Humbly,
Tracy
I am standing, or laying on my face, in agreement with you, Mrs. Beth.
I have been praying just as you have admonished us and I have given admonition to my entire family to offer up prayers of support and truth for our President Elect and the nation as we embark on this new history-making journey.
A few weeks ago I heard God ask me (in my spirit) if I would be willing to respect Mr. Obama if he were to become President. I could not say I had always done so - and that is when I realized this nation has an entire generation, led by the "FREE PRESS", that does not know that we respect positions of authority not because of the people who hold the office, but because of the office that they hold. God commands us to do so much in Colossians 3, and our of reverence for Christ I stand for this nation and this government as it works together. That unity would be the mark of a new destiny, and truth would prevail in every way.
Thank you so much for exhortation and truth.
Thank you... isn't it wonderful to be able to rise above the ways of the world and proclaim Glory to Christ!?!?!
I choose joy in the situation....
I so agree with you, Beth, on the prejudice part, but am really struggling on the other parts of this. I'm actually pretty surprised at how deeply sad and disappointed I am and how hurt I feel. Please pray for those of us who are experiencing this.
Beth, your post brings me to my feet praising my God. I am filled with emotion as I ponder his goodness, his wisdom and the power of his living Word. Oh, I love Him today!!!
Amen! Thanks for the challenge.
Beth, I just finished teaching the last session of "Daniel" to my Wednesday morning group (I'll teach it again tonight)and I thank God for His perfect timing. What a week of Bible study to wrap up just as we end this election. God had impressed the same thoughts on my heart as He did yours as this election drew to a close. I told my group this morning that they are to hold me accountable to two commitments I believe God has led me to make: 1) I will pray for our President and his family and administration {wisdom, godliness, discernment, leadership & even blessings}, and 2) I will treat him respectfully, especially in how I speak of him. I must admit that I failed to do the latter for a past president. But this time I feel it is very important that we show respect and honor, to the office and the man who fills it.
I keep thinking about what you said yesterday that the best of circumstances don't necessarily bring out the best in the Bride of Christ. And one of the siesta's posted that if things had gone the other way she perhaps would not have been as fervent in her prayers for the president.
I also think about what you said today, that we must not tolerate hate or prejudice of any kind and that now more than ever we need unity in the Body of Christ.
And I can't help but think that this is a time when we as Christians will give our greatest witness to those who feel the victory is theirs when the ultimate victory will always belong to our Risen Christ. May our lives and actions shout volumes of glory and praise to The One who ultimately reigns supreme.
Shoulder to shoulder! The Word of the Lord is received -- let us not be divided. Amen!
We love you, too, Dear Beth! One day, I pray, you'll know how much!
Amen! We stand united!
Thank you Beth for your words. All day today I have been thinking about the many prayers that have been lifted up for the election in the last couple of weeks. Many have fasted and prayed and there have been many non-denominational prayer meetings. I wonder, when was the last time God heard from His children like that. What a sweet sound that must have been to Him. I will pray for my leaders, but I will also pray that the events of the past few weeks will become standard. That we will throw off denominational titles and unite as God's Church. I pray that we will continually seek His face and in doing this, place our trust in only Him.
Isaiah 2:22 Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?
Election Anxiety
As Election Day winds down,
I anxiously await results in my pajamas.
In the morning we’ll have news of the outcome,
Will this huge victory be McCain’s or Obama’s?
The campaigning has been monotonous,
Negativity has prevailed on both sides.
Words spoken have been destructive,
Political talk oft times stirs up and divides.
Both candidates possess good, bad, and ugly,
We must be wise and discerning for sure.
I rest knowing God’s in control of it all,
His Word tells me there’s hope in my future.
Regardless whether an elephant or a donkey,
Serves the U.S.A. the next four years.
We must continually pray for God to unite us,
To deliver us from insecurity and fears.
Soon the winner’s name will be broadcast,
God’s sovereignty will prevail.
The first black man or a woman leader will emerge,
His plan for this country will not fail.
Praise God for America’s freedom,
For complete freedom in Him, our Solid Rock.
May His will be done here is the states,
Under the leadership of John or Barack.
WOW! Powerful post!!
I posted something similiar on my blog today and was referred here by a new bloggy friend.
Keep up the great work!!!!!
