There Comes A Time
There just flat comes a time when you have to go to the danged doctor. And be glad you have him. I wouldn't have to bother if my mama were still alive. She didn't much know what to do with a stronghold but she knew what to do with the croup. I'd have to sit on a stool by the stove with a towel over my head and breathe in some wild vaporous concoction that made me heave until I came to my senses and decided I'd better get well or else. My family was too big for you to get a whole heapin' helping of attention. You got your moment then you got on with it. A week later you'd be snorting your head off and coughing your back out and someone would say, "Child, what on earth is wrong with you? What are you doing still sick? I thought I told you to get well!" I had a really quirky family and sometimes if you'd been sick a long time they'd say, "I'd a thought you'd a died by now!"
Sometimes my sister and I got to stay home when we were sick and watch soap operas with Mom and Nanny (my granny who lived with us). If we'd act nearly dead, even three in a row. We were so far in the birth order that we got away with more than the older kids. Especially when it came to playing hooky. If we'd lay really quiet on the couch, Mom and Nanny would act like they didn't know we were there. It never occurred to them that soap operas might not be the best steady diet for adolescents. How we didn't grow up to be like Erica Cane on "All My Children" who's never met a man she didn't marry is beyond me. Goodness knows we did our part.
I was supposed to get to take the day off to finish my Christmas shopping but no!!! I have to go to the danged doctor. I've had something for three or four days but I tried to treat it with internet advice. I bet you know what I'm talking about. I thought it was working till I could hardly get out of the bed this morning. I had to drop my legs over the side of the bed, slide down, and hope the rest of me followed. When I finally got to my feet, I coughed really loud so Keith would wake up and feel sorry for me. Then I was sorry he'd seen me because I got a glance of myself in the bathroom mirror and nearly went into cardiac arrest. The only words that would come to me were "Woman, thou art loathed!" I didn't have to take my take my temperature. My hair clearly had a fever. And it looked especially dark. I'm one of those weird people who enjoys making fun of herself so I had half a mind to have Keith take a picture of me to post for you...but then I was afraid I'd give you a spirit of fear. I kind of looked like Norman Bates' mom in Psycho.
Keith's car was packed for the deer lease but then he felt bad (I love that when you blog you don't have to use good English like "badly." It would be so lame here.) about leaving me this morning. I made him go though. I didn't feel good enough for him to stay home. I think you understand. Well, you helped me pass the time to my appointment. Gotta get in there. I'm sorry this is so random. I'm sorry for everything. Even things I don't know I did. I'm so sorry.
I'll let you know in the next day or two how my appointment went. I hate that they're going to ask me if I've had my dad-blasted mammogram this year. And how my delicate digestive system is doing. Good grief. How personal can you get? Did I tell you about having that colonoscopy last year and, as it turned out, several of the nurses in the wing had done the Bible studies and we got to visit through it? No, I didn't tell you because I didn't want to talk about it. Still don't.
If my croup kicks pretty fast, I'm gonna wish I could retape my rousing chorus of Happy Blog-aversary To You. I know it's not the flu because I had my flu shot. And it's against the law to get the flu after you get your flu shot.
I love you. So sorry I put you through this post.
PS. Back from the doctor. Bronchitis. May need iron lung. Not really. Just a mammogram and colonoscopy.

I can't even imagine the conversations in your household...you and Amanda are something else. I don't think I've ever "met" two more hilarious women in my life--let alone related to one another.
Though...no apologies accepted. :)
If I was there you would have some chicken soup from me.Your pillow fluffed, & a cozey blanket. But I am not there.I am so sorry your sick espcalley this time fo the year. I pray it over soon.God bless my sick sietas, may you get better soon. God bless & be with you love sietas in Christ Victroia
(((((BETH)))))
Don't you know you never have to say your sorry to a Siesta!
I am so glad I am not the only one who gets so dag blasted random when she isn't feeling well. It gives me much empathy for those who suffer with ADD all the time!
I will be praying your appointment goes well and you get better soon. Please don't ever appologize for sharing with your siestas how delightfully real you are.
Don't be sorry to include us in the "normal and mundane" of your life. It helps to know that the Queen Siesta is just like us. I know this sounds bizarre but I find it theraputic to read about your everyday life. It is helpful to know we all go through the same things (colonoscopies - and I am only 35 but had to do it last year!)
Sending healing prayers straight at ya!
Oh, you poor thang! I'm fluffy a pillow for you and you can just know I'd bring you a hot drink of your choice. Everyone needs some clucking and fussing over from time to time.
Sorry? Yeah, I'm sorry I can't be there to help.
Also, I'm a nurse, but I seemed to think taking care of others was a great job but it never occurred to me that it applied to me. (Did I just think if you weren't in the hospital you weren't really sick? Beats me) Imagine my shock one day when I went to the doctor and he gave me some medicine. It worked! I felt so good, so fast.
Better life through chemistry!
Snuggy comforts to you. And multiplied energy and time for when you get better.
Oh Beth! I just have to say "Bless your heart!" And I really mean it...not like the usual Texas meaning "Bless your heart you cant help it." I mean it for real.
~~"I made him go though. I didn't feel good enough for him to stay home. I think you understand."~~
Yep.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
(And I just have to say that after a year of the blog...I can tell by the first sentence if it's you or Amanda. I dont even have to scroll to the bottom to get it all right in my head before reading the post!)
Poor Bethie! I'm just glad that you couldn't hear me giggling. When you hit that part about being sorry for everything, I think that I finally understood how lousy you feel. What a lousy time to feel lousy. Not that any time is a good time but if you're like the rest of us every moment is critical this week. Well, take care of yourself and now you've got us siestas praying for ya!
Beth Get well soon. My mom put us under the towel with the steam stuff too. We have to admit we have "wonderful" skin at 50!!! I am suffering from a cold and feeling the exact same feelings... you make me feel normal!!
I love this post! The part about your colonoscopy reminds me of an event in my own life I've been trying to repress.
I went to see my doctor for a very "personal reason" and she told me that I needed to eliminate caffeine from my diet in order to help this pass. Now, keep in mind that she had to do a very "personal examination" in order to determine what was going on.
So, the next morning, bright and early... who got in line behind me at my neighborhood Starbucks? None other than my kind doctor. This was not only embarrassing due to our interaction the day before, but primarily because I certainly had not ordered decaf. :)
You're the best, Beth! Feel better.
I'm with ya, Beth. The thing I hate most is when you to a specialist about something in your foot, let's say, and they want the history of everything you only discuss with the gyno. We don't want to tell you-- do you really want to know? That's my philosophy. Home remedies are good for at LEAST a week. But it's almost Christmas, so I understand your need to get in before the office closes. Blessings, Friend.
Praying you feel better!... that the doc doesn't make you have the squishy test and that he gives you a shot to make you feel better by tomorrow. I love those steroid shots that make you feel tons better and then you secretly become your evil twin a few days later... medicinal effects.
AND... I bet you were as cute as a button with your hair all out of whack and with major sick breath.
I would not have let my man stay home either...
Love you sweet Siesta!
Oh Beth, it's too much. I am going to be laughing all day at the thought of those nurses talking to you while you were having a colonoscopy!
I think there is something in Revelation about a special crown, just for those who endure such trials.
OK, maybe I made that up, but there should be!
Hope you feel better soon.
I as so sorry that you are sick. And I hate that it is interfering with your shopping. Get well soon!
I love you, too... and I don't love the doctor either. My babies had the croup last week, so I'm right there with ya. Too bad you're too big for the magic pink medicine (liquid amoxicillin) because that more than compensated for the dreaded doctor visit in my two year old's mind. :)
Next time, take a picture. There are twisted grieving people like me who could use a laugh about right now... I mean, we'd be laughing WITH you of course.... ;)
Thanks for being you. We adore ya!
Dearest Beth,
I pray that the Lord would heal you quickly. Get some rest and I'm sure everyone of us would be there to take care of you if we could. Since we can't, here is a big cyberhug!
It is a sure sign of friendship when you feel comfortable enough to ramble feverishly in front of us!
Praying you are well for CHRISTmas!
"I'd a thought you'd a died by now!"
My grandmother used to say that! LOL! I thought she was the only one.
Hope you feel better quickly!

Beth,
I love your sense of humor, and the fact that you are so open to share. I pray that you get the right meds and are quickly on the mend. You truly are precious to share your heart even when you are feeling as if you are putting your siesta's out. That could never be the case because siesta's truly understand and love each other through it all. You are a blessing in my life and I can't wait to see you in San Diego in 2008. I get to treat my sister to her first LPM event. God bless and keep you tightly in his grip.
Your siesta Celeste
You're still hillarious even when you're sick! :) Are you delarious (sp)? Hope you feel better! Glad you can rest! :)
Prayers for a speedy recovery!
My son had his tonsils out 2 days ago so we are stuck at home. I pray you feel better soon. Hang in there.
Dear sweet Beth,
I pray you'll be feeling spunky and sparky again soon.... I can't ever imagine you looking like Norman Bates' mom... EEEEKKKKKK!
I remember once I was so desperate to stay home from school and avoid a test, that I faked throwing up by opening a can of catfood and dumping it on the floor. Mom was too wise though, and off to school I went - smellin' like fishy cat food...
Sigh.
Love and hugs,
Adrienne
Dearest Beth,Yesterday after reading the post,I thought you were a nut and now I am sure of it! You are a funny bird and I love you dearly!I hope you are feeling better! Looking forward to a healthy,Happy New Year and Ester!p.s. maybe you have been studying too hard!
I love you, too, Beth...psycho hair and all. A few weeks ago, a wicked, nasty stomach bug took up residence in our house. While retching over the commode, I told my husband I'd pay him $100 to put me out of my misery, so I know how you're feeling, poor baby. Now, make sure you get over it by Christmas! Take your meds and go to bed!
Michele
Beth-
I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I think that croup thing is going around and hitting everyone hard who has had the flu shot. Since it is against the law to get the flu after the flu shot, the croup is the next best/worst thing! Lots of rest and lots of ice cream I think are the best cures! It worked with my five year old, anyway!
Pray you feel better soon...especially in time for Christmas!
Beth,
The problem is that you did not have garlic with you at all times (try riding a crowded trolley bus as the American foreigner and wondering why in the world the place reeks like garlic in the dead of a Ukrainian winter). Or perhaps you sat on cold cement- not only can you get sick, you can do irreparable damage to your female organs and thus render future childbearing abilities null and void (an old man got OFF HIS PARK BENCH to chew my husband out when our 2 year old was sitting on the cement ledge- that may even have been in the summer)- hmm, I guess you're past the latter, but you do have daughters and future grandkids to think about. Or maybe you had two portions of ice cream- that'll do it EVERY time. They have an inhaling concoction, too- it made things worse for my husband, but when he feels a sore throat coming on, he still sleeps with a neck warmer like our teacher told him to while we were in language school. I hope that helps prevent any future bouts- all that is FREE info because it was certainly given to me VERY freely (I'd hate to be the only one to profit from the wisdom! By the way, despite its quirks, I do love the country and the people dearly!).
Hope you feel better! t.g.
I sure hope you got something to help you get better, Beth! Take care of yourself! It's amazing how you made me laugh even when you felt so bad (badly?)
Love and prayers
Poor baby! If I lived any closer, I'd hop in my car and bring you some store-bought chicken noodle soup. :) We could watch Dr. Phil and Oprah and have a grand ol' day.
Oh, and I got you beat on the uncomfortable Colonoscopy visit. How about your annual visit to the OB/Gyn? Turns out the nurse recognized my name on the chart and had read my "Your Girl" book, so we had ourselves a little chatfest. She had some questions related to some issues she was facing with her middle school daughter, but I was a tad distracted, to say the least. I'm still trying to recover from the whole ordeal...
Praying for you and that you will recover in time to enjoy Christmas!
You are so funny, even when you are sick...I am sorry you are sick. That is no fun for anybody! I am praying that the doctor and nurses will know exactly how to treat it so you can get better and fast! And I'm sure you know, unfortunately you CAN still get the flu after getting the flu shot and it should be against the law!! I pray God's healing over you....Love you, Sacha
Beth,
I can not begin to tell you how much joy it brings to see a new post from you on your blog. It is though I am opening my inbox and finding an email from a personal friend. I love it even more when you get sooooo real. I'm praying for your recovery.
fevers really do that to YOU too? wow, I am impressed with how God makes us feel 'normal'. after seeing yall dolled up, I thought ya didn't have 'those' type of days ;)
thanks for making me smile
ange
Girl - if you ain't the funniest woman alive - I don't know one. I have laughed so hard over this post - I feel so good. I have laughed out some meanness I know - because "laughter doeth good like a medicine." And I didn't even have to go to the doctor! Dr. Beth took care of me with her wild wit!
Your post brought back memories of being home sick from school and my mama ironing while "As the World Turns" came on. Like sands through the hourglass...listen...can you hear the music too??? I can still picture that little couch and how mama would hang the clothes up over the door after she ironed them. I have not thought of that in YEARS and it came out after reading your post.
And I get it! Keith being the manly man he is, could not have felt "badly," that just sounds sissy. He just felt real real bad - HILARIOUS!!!
Watch out for that internet advice. My two walking partners have made me promise I will stay off the internet medical sites because they say I start having symptoms of what I'm reading about.
Norman Bates's mothers' hair with a fever!!!!! HA! You are too much.
I turned 50 last month and the doctor said I had to go have a colonoscopy too. I dread it so much, but I pray that at least I will be comforted by strangers.
Please feel better, Bethie, we NEED you. Get the mammogram, take your medicine and REST.
You are PRECIOUS!
Love, Jan
Your Georgia Siesta
Dearest Beth...
How I just love it when you blog randomly! ;)
I pray you are feeling better soon!!! Take care of yourself!
You are even funny when you are sick!! Praying for a complete healing over you, dear Beth!! Tis the season for sicknesses, huh?!
Oh, an HAPPY ANNIVERSARY this month to you and Keith...is it 30 years yet?
Loving you in NC!!
Oh Bethie, so sorry you are sick. I'm praying the good Lord will heal you soon. Do you have anyone to come and love on you? or are you alone? Take care of yourself.
P.S. Were you awake for your colonoscopy!!?? Horrors! I was asleep so I didn't feel a thing. That's a first: having bible study fellowship while going through a colonoscopy.
Beth -
I am not sure if you read all of these...I know there are many. BUT if you happen to read this one, I just want you to know that I think you are a wonderful, beautiful, Godly woman! My mom first took me to a conference of yours about 5 or 6 years ago. Since then, we have tried to go to one every year and plan to come to Atlanta in June 2008. I also LOVE reading your blogs as well as your daughters blogs. I try to read it everyday when I have a break at work...always puts a smile on my face! Thank you for the wonderful example you are!
I hope you get to feeling better! I hate to go to the doctor as well...but what I hate worse is having to take my 9 month old to his check up today...hoping there won't be any shots this time!
GET WELL SOON! :o)
I SO love this LPM blog!! Only our wonderful God could orchestrate such a love for women we have never met, and make us feel like they are among our best friends!! Your adventures remind me of stories my Bible study lunch bunch girls get into. I won't begin to tell you about the topic of conversation when we had our Christmas lunch/gift exchange!! Since the seven of us range in age from 75 to 46 you never know what "personal business" might be shared!! Feel better very soon, sweet Beth. Merry Christmas to all my siestas. May you be "blessed beyond belief" in 2008!
I sorta know how you feel. I've been fighting it myself for about 2weeks. We have 6 kids, so I keep getting reinfected taking care of everyone. I don't have the heart to ask my husband to stay home. He works @ Second Baptist (West Campus) in the audio department. Basically for us December is "See Daddy on Saturday" for our family. I hope you get better. I pray you get well in time to enjoy Christmas.
Dear Beth, I'll be praying that you feel better...I'm in upstate New York, and I've got the same cough...that I have not gone to the doctor about. I'll see what advice your doctor has and maybe I'll go too. And I've been putting off my colonoscopy.....Love in Christ! LuAnn
Just stoppin by this morning and I'm so sorry to find you so sick. The crazy thing is you still make me roll with laughter even when you don't feel well. You are too sweet, Beth. Praying God's healing touch on you this day! With much love ~ Kristin
Land sakes siesta you bring a tear to my eye. I wish it was a tear of compassion, however, I have to be honest and tell you that it's not!! You crack me up and I'm so glad to know I'm not the only person who takes great pleasure in making fun of myself!! =)
Prayin' for a swift healin' girl!
That's why we're all here, beautiful, sickly Beth --- we rejoice with you and we hurt with you. It's obvious you feel terrible. I hurt with you right now!
I pray for God to rain His miraculous healing power on your weakened with sickness body (but of course it's NOT the flu!).
I love you!
denise
Poor Beth, God Bless Your Heart! If you lived under my roof you'd be putting Vicks on the bottoms of your feet, put socks on and go back to bed! Hope you are all better soon, I'll be praying for you!!
Oh, Beth, you poor dear! We love you and praying that you get better really soon! Let us know what the doctor says.

Sister Beth I love you and I hope you are feeling better. I do that to myself I am my worst crictic even though I have Friends and a Pastor tell me God doesn't think the same things we think about ourselves.
Its kinda funny I'm always thinking people are mad at me and it's usually a pretty logical reason that either they are busy or for instance their phone has been out for atleast two weeks. Yes and my Husband always tells me, the world doesn't revolve around you.
But I always think everything that happens is my fault. LOL! So Get Well my Sister. I stumbled upon your book 90 days with Jesus at Walmart and Made up my mind for the New Year I'm getting it.
I got something funny to tell ya I was so frustrated with my nine year old not doing what he's suppose to do at school I was praying and doing the Prayers out of Get out of this pit in my room well my Husband who is not saved yet comes home and says who were you yelling at I'm like God .
My Girlfriend who is saved too says it would have been funny to see the look on His face had I been rebuking the Devil Hey I did that first before I got into the Deliverance prayers.
Love ya
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
My Husband doesn't hunt but we are taking some deer corn up to my Parents because Praise God they finally moved from the Hurricane by some woods and they come out at night so we are going to leave some deer corn out for Santa's Reindeers. Don't ya love it He's Six ! The older ones know the truth He does too but plays along with us!
Sue=La
Gosh if I need a good laugh I just come to your blog, Sorry and been praying about you been so sick, that's crummy anytime of the year, but especially if it interferes with Christmas shopping. Well it doesn't pay to be popular and have lots of lovely women tests done at the doctor. Yup that's very embrassing. Do you realize they'll never look at you the same anymore.
Hey I have a funny story to tell you, maybe it will perk you up a bit ---- It's very snowy here in Washington State and my husband and I built a very cute snowman yesterday and we have a crazy golden retriever ( but not as crazy as AJ's it seems) and she's scared of the snowman well she was yesterday. this morning I look out to see her launching her whole body into the snowman and pulling off his buttons and his eyes and now she come up to the door with one of his little red mittens. Who ever heard of a dog attacking a snowman. It's pretty funny although my husband doesn't think so.
Get better soon.
Blessings - Prayer warrior

Beth:
I love a good laugh, and Siesta, how in the world did you tickle my funny bone like that, being so ILL?
Love you and may you feel refreshed as we come ever closer to Jesus the One and Only!
Yolanda
Don't beleive everything you have heard about the Flu shot.
If it's any concelation about 5 days and you should be OK.
That's about how long it lasted in NC. But things are bigger (does that mean last longer) in Texas.
Praying for you a speedy recovery.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Beth,
These are my favorite kind of posts from you... I bet even in your state today your beauty would shine through :)
The nurses talking with you about you Bible study while you were having the _____ (I won't mention it either) is to die for.
I love you so!!! If you don't get around to blogging again before Christmas... I wish you and your family the bestest (I'm blogging, I don't have to worry about grammar :) Christmas ever!!!
Thank you for pouring out your life for us so that we may know JESUS better!!!
Please get the last 2 things ok.?God bless
praying for you! LOL about the nurses doing the studies. I always lead your studies at my church and I had to have a catheter done and guess what the Dr was in my bible study. I said well...I will see you at bible study. SO HORRIFYING. Then, when I was on bed rest a nurse came in that had been in the singles class that I taught. I won't even go there. I was like great you have seen me in all my glory and now I will see you at church. ahhhhhh!!
I'm so sorry you're sick! At least you went to the dr. now so you'll be well by Christmas. I will pray for a speedy recovry. At least your sense of humor isn't infected!
You poor thing! It is awful to be sick during the holidays. Praying for a speedy recovery and for your loved ones to be wonderfully solicitous in your time of need. :)
Oh, Beth, I'm so sorry. I had Bronchitis once and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Talk about a quirky family. I had it for 2 months before my dad finally took me to the doctor!
Beth, you're a hoot! I am so sorry you aren't feeling well. Now I know why God has been laying you on my heart so much the last couple of days.
Behave yourself, take your medicine and snuggle up with Sunny today. You can finish up the shopping tomorrow.
I love you. Have a very Blessed Christmas and a Wonderful New Year.
Get well soon so you can shop! The best time to shop is the 24th at 5 pm (all the post Christmas sales are posted, and they have to honor the prices). I know this because I had the flu and pneumonia several years ago the week before Christmas. I wish I'd know it was against the law then, because I'd had my flu shot! Wonder who enforces that law!
God bless you with a speedy recovery!
I am in the boat with you today, Feeling terrible. My two year old was up half the night with fever and every last one of us has the croup!!!! Praise be to God, I read your blog and laughed myself silly. I needed that so bad (not, badly!!) today. Thank you for being real and loving Jesus with me!!!
I had a bout with bronchitis too this year. nasty but it does end.
Hope you are back in the pink of health soon!
love to you!
Sr. Lynn
Miss Beth,
You are too cute!!! By the way, Kirk Franklin's new CD came out yesterday and it is the BOMB!!!! I hope that makes you feel better. Oh yeah, this Ohio Siesta wants to know, 'What's a deer lease?'
love you so much,
Melissa
PS I just finished my last day of homework for A Woman's Heart @ 5AM(I have little ones)......
WOW!!!!!
Dear Beth:
I am sorry that you feel so crummy. That may be putting it lightly I realize. Being that while I was sick Mon. I felt beyond horrible. Anyway if it is any encouragement to you, your sense of humor has not left you, which is more than I could say. What I think really stinks is the timing of the thing. I mean didn't the silly viruses get the memo that this is a busy time of year and we just don't have time for this. Or maybe they did!:) Chezzy, huh. Oh well, I hope the Doc gave you something to really help you get well and by Fri. you'll be out shopping again.
I will be praying for you to get well. I would be grateful if you all prayed for me this day. I am suppose to lead Daniel week 5 tonight. ( my favorite so far) and I am still recovering, my 9 year old is complaining about not feeling well. My husband is leading his study tonight and I don't think it would be fair to make my older children stay with her. Anyway hope no one else gets sick. Kim B. in AZ
Dear Beth,
Praying God will heal your bronchitis quickly. And if not that he would just sit down beside your bed and tell you what song he sings over you and how he smiles down on you when you cause us to look toward heaven and adore him because of something you helped us see. Your passion for Jesus is contagious. I cannot tell you how many times while listening to a teaching tape my attention goes to him in just sheer adoration and love for him. You make me love Jesus more. I think you give me permission to love him without limits , shamelessly is the word I think I mean. I find myself at his feet and I don't care what people think. He is worthy and he is wonderful. I thank God for you being you. For letting us see him from your bended knee somedays. You pray before the teaching sessions sometimes and I have to shut off the tape and just get on my knees and finish where you left off cause you take me to his throne room of grace and all I want to do is stop and thank him and adore him.I pray God blesses you and your family this Christmas season with his joy, his peace, his hope, and his love.(And health) Take care. Love you. May the joy of Jesus surround you today and the Immanuel "God with us" cause your heart to worship.Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas.
Only you can make being sick sound so funny. You cheered me up. I am praying that you will be over your bronchitis really soon. I am sure your man will see to it that you have the other two test done asap after the holidays. Merry Christmas - our family loves yours.
You are too funny! I pray that you will soon feel much better - especialy for Christmas. Illnesses seem to know just when to hit us - at the most inopportune times! God's blessings to you for a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
Beth...
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well!
And, yes....that colonoscopy is very important. A few years ago my dad had a small cancerous spot removed from his colon and the dr. said all of his daughters over 40 needed to have one. It was not pleasant, (drinking the stuff before!!) but thankfully nothing was found on mine.
On a different note, but along the same line of inconvenient things in our lives, our electricity just came back on yesterday after a bad ice storm hit Oklahoma. Ours was out for 7 days!!!!!!!
Monday there were still over 4,000 in my town w/out it.
This was funny - later, but not at the time. We only have portable phones in our house and when the electric goes they don't work. My husband found this really old phone from the 70's and we plugged it in and it worked. It is a dial phone not push button. Friday night (day 5 w/out electric) in our dark house this little phone rang and it was the electric co. with a recorded voice saying if your power has not been restored please press "2".....of course I couldn't push "2" then it said "I'm sorry blah, blah...." Say "2" and I said "2" and I said "2" again.....then the recorded voice said "I'm sorry...." & started giving me a number to call. I was in the room via flashlight and had no pen. It was a frustrating moment.
I praise God that things weren't worse for us though. We had some heat and have a gas cooking stove. Many others had nothing and no place to go, but to a shelter. I didn't start getting a little bit cranky until day 6 and day 7....ta da! it came back on. They had crews from different states helping and the crew at my house were from Louisiana. Very sweet, polite young men.
I'm sorry this was so long.
I hope you get to feeling better real soon and pray you have a very blessed Christmas.
Love,
Valerie
P.S. Loved the singing (first time I've ever heard you sing) and the anniversary message. I also loved the pictures of your Christmas party. Looked like lots of fun.
Lord Jesus, heal our siesta Beth. Pour out Your healing mercy on her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. Drive the croup from her lungs like You drove the moneychangers from the temple. I pray this in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

Here's praying you get better soon because Christmas is just to close to be sick. I have some good home remedies for coughs, lungs, and colds (even flus) but I will spare you the details. Do like my mama always said - eat soup, sleep lots, get well soon and try to NOT spread the love! (Sympathy oozes from my mother - haha)
Take care of yourself and get well soon. After all, you want to keep on task for that mammogram and colonoscopy ;)!
Blessings to you!
Oh Beth, it's way to close to Christmas to feel this bad!!! I'm so sorry too, for everything!!!! I am PRAYING for you siesta!!!!!!
Much love to you, you CRAZY thang!!
Beth, get well soon. I hope you are wrapped up in a fluffy robe and bunny slippers. Well, at least I know that you are wrapped up in God's love!
P.S. I loved your Blog-aversary (or however you spell it)song!
beth-you know when your sick and you you just keep going and going soon slower and slower...& you don't realize how sick you really were until you are finally well?! i too want to be well...i think i forgot what it feels like to take a good deep breath without the horrendous cough to follow!
prayin for your health & strength!!!
lovin life in Him-lisa
the sea is roaring today.
Beth- I know, girl. I know. I'm doing the same hacking as you. Bronchitis and asthma. When I was at the doctor needing not one but two breathing treatments, steroids, expectorants blah, blah, blah, they had the nerve to ask me when my last, you know, was (I'm trying to be sensitive to any men that might read this). Do you think I had enough oxygen going to my brain to remember the exact date??? I wanted to say, "just give me my breathing treatments and worry not! I am NOT with child."
Praying that your meds kick in and that your recovery is a quick one.
Love and Merry Christmas.
Annette in Ohio.
Hot tea and the vapo-rizer!
Oh Beth you make me laugh so hard!
Not feeling well myself today but
now I feel much better after reading your blog...even when you are sick you make me laugh. Thank you for being such a blessing to me
and to the world.
I love you, Beth, and am praying for a quick healing. And, hope you enjoy the "down" time during this crazy time of year.
Oh, and thanks for the reminder. I need to schedule my danged blasted mammo, too.
I sure hope you will feel better soon. You are hysterical even when you feel awful. Thanks for the great laugh!
Beth,
I just finished the last video of the Tabernacle study last night! I am so sad!! Our group is starting Believing God in February and I can hardly wait. I hope you’re feeling better soon. May God bless you and your family!
Love ya,
Jenna
Beth- is this what people mean when they throw around the scripture "God works all things together for the good!" ???
'Cause, it sure seems to me that were you well right now you wouldn't be able to post this HILARIOUSLY FUNNY blog and well- I wouldn't be reminded of how much I need to get practicing those Kegel exercises to prevent heavy laughter from causing... well, ACCIDENTS!
LOVE YOU!!! Thanks for the giggles today.
Now I'm going to call my mother and tell her SHE'S not as crazy as I thought she was.
Feel better, Miss Beth.
Bronchitis?! You poor thing!! Feel better soon!! Compared to bronchitis, a mammogram might not be so bad!! Love from NC
I've read your blog for awhile now but have never commented. I just wanted to say I really enjoy your posts; your sense of humor just cracks me up - i love it! (: I'm a 24 yr old SAHM (my daughter is the same age as Amanda's son) & I just love coming here and reading the posts where you can always find encouragement, love and laughter (: Thanks for writing!!
Blessings!
PS I'm sure you hear this ALL the time, but my church did one of your studies last year and I LOOOOVED it. Totally blessed me! So thank you (:
Beth,
You would think that after a year I should know better than to eat or drink anything while reading one of your posts. I nearly had my husband's fabulous chocolate chip cookies flying out of my mouth as I giggled at your Psycho comparison! So sorry that you had to see the doctor but praise the Lord that you're on the road to recovery now. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Beth,
Oh darn that Brochitits stuff. I hope you get well soon.
I laughed at your coloscopy story, because I HAVE BEEN THERE DONE THEN MYSELF.
I had to have a colonoscopy last year (because of ongoing abdominal pain) and first of all, THAT HORRIBLE DRINK stuff (the prep you have to have before the colonoscopy even takes place) OH MY!!!!!!! That stuff was HORRIBLE...BUT THEN...as if that isn't enough, I get into my colonoscopy and the tech./helper guy is a good friend from CHURCH...is there no peace in this world? Now,I have to hide/duck/cover at church because I'm so freaked out he saw parts of me that no one should ever see.....
I feel your pain.
Get well soon,
Kelly in Michigan
You poor thing!!!
I can kinda understand what you're going through 'cause I had to go the the(uncomfortable, but necessary) "woman's doctor" today. Joy of joys right? Christ has soo much that He is working through with me and this is just one of them. But Praise God!-He will complete me one day and make me whole spiritually, physically, and mentally!:)
Mama B I am holding out from a doctor visit myself...I have enough trouble keeping up with rent/bills to add a prescription bill to the list! (Isn't that sad?!) And of course my asthmatic lungs would decide to rear their ugly wheezing at me because they know it's Christmas and I'm trying to be joyful. Fa la la la la.
I'm so sorry you are sick. I'm sorry about the colon-nurses. I'm sorry you have to put off your shopping. I'm sorry about the heaving childhood. And I'm sorry for whatever else siestas are supposed to be sorry for, when one of their own is down...
When you wrote about looking like Norman Bates mother... and giving us a spirit of fear...I cackled aloud. Man you are funny.
Bless your sweet heart, Beth! Hoping you get well very quickly...it's almost Christmas, siesta, and you need to be well so you can see Jackson with his Santa Claus presents and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus! Get your staff to pray over you, and get Vicks Vaporub to boil in the kitchen. Then take the towel and lean over it....you will get well....promise! Merry Christmas!
I just love you Beth! You can even make me laugh when you're sick; what a trooper (or should I say, "croup-er")...
I'm already praying for that mammogram and colonoscopy. Hope you feel better soon!!
O man! I'd have to say visiting through a colonoscopy sounds about as bad as your story about the guy at the drug store while holding the feminine unmentionables!
My Grandpa also had a sure-fire way of getting rid of the "gunk," as we refer to it in my family. His method usually involved a trip to the liquor store. I think my dad still has something hidden in his sock drawer for when mom's trips to the doctor just don't get the job done. But don't tell any of his SBC church members.
I hope you get to feeling better! Especially before Christmas. I've been sick on Christmas before and it's the pits! I am praying for you. And I am NOT looking forward to a colonoscopy and mammogram. A Pap Smear is bad enough! Don't we all LOVE doctors?!
I am soo sorry that you are not feeling well!! I hate being sick at the holidays! One of the girls at work has been sneezing for days and now her nose is all red. She said that one of her friends told her "she was taking the whole "get in to the holiday spirit" thing a little too far, she didn't need to look like Rudolph to show us her Christmas Spirit" Needless to say, that didn't go over very well.
I hope you feel better soon! Glad that its not the flu!
Love ya, Beth!
PS Dont record the song!! It was great just the way it was!
Beth,
I hope you are feeling better. The sweetest thing just happened. My girls are home from school and we all got on the computer today. I was showing them the blog-aversary clip, (and the Sound of High School Music from TC). My 6 year old, Emily, had just spent the last 30 minutes perfecting a snowman she had decorated and was deciding where to hang it. When your clip came on she kept holding up her snowman to the computer, in front of me. I asked her what in the world she was doing, and she said, "I just wanted Beth to see my snowman". She obviously thought if she could see you, than you could see her. It was precious. Thank you so much for your ministry!
Merry Christmas!
Awww, Beth. You poor thing! I had bronchitis last year and it was sheer misery. I hope they gave you a shot in your tiny butt. You'll be better in no time if they did.
Praying for you...
Lisa

Dear Beth,
A girl sure needs her mama when she's as sick as you are. God bless a man-somehow they just don't quite have the same soothing hand on your head let me take care of you thing going on like a mama. You get in bed, have some chicken soup, and take a good nap. Maybe later, if you feel like it, you can move to the sofa and catch up on the soaps. (I think Erica Kane is STILL on All My Children!) I'm sending a prayer for quick healing. Love you,
Kathy
Bless your little heart! I am praying you get better soon, but you need someone to take care of you for awhile anyway.
I'm sick too with a viral thingy and my Mom and Dad are both gone and oh yes, by the way, I am 48 years old, but still....
My husband is working and he is so sweet, but there just isn't one to take care of you just like "Mama" did back then, is there?
No, it's not "godly" but I remember curling up on the couch and watching Erica Cane scheme to get one of those "Martin" people..Phillip I think away from Tara...LOL.
I can't believe I remembered that and I can't believe we watched it and thought "how exciting?"
Do you think we were all marked by it all?
I think I'm feverish running on like this..LOL
I'm glad you don't have to have an iron lung, Beth. It wouldn't look great, even on you. No way to accessorize an iron lung even if you are really creative :-)
Love and Blessings to someone that can make me laugh even when she's sick and I'm sick too!
Teri
Aww Beth! I'm praying for you to get better. Sounds like you need a good snuggle on the couch in sweats, hot cider in your hands, and a good movie to vege in front of. A hot bath and a snooze might feel good too! I want to give you a hug!
Thanks for your word about the colonoscopy! :D Hilarious.... yet makes me cringe for you! God bless your sense of humor!
Love you!
Beth...
I so feel your pain. I had to give in and go to the dr today too. Sinus infection. The fever last night after 12 days of blowing and coughing did it for me.
Thankfully the Lord has given us these marvelous folks who can tell us what it is and give us medicine...and thankfully we eventually submit and swallow our pill!
Hope you feel better soon...we'll pray for your health.
Blessings...
Corrie
Beth, you are loved!!! Here's praying that your healed quickly to want Keith to stay home with you and to feel the joy of being with all your loved ones this Christmas. We're so glad you went to the doctor and hadn't died already!
Oh, you poor dear. This definitely does NOT sound like a "blessing" to me. But, hey, you are still human you know, and, you wanna know somethin'? That makes the "rest of us" sojourners "out here" feel better just to know that fact. I don't know about anyone else out "here", but it blesses me so much that you are "so authentic" with us, my sweet Beth. It just makes me love you even more, my dear sister.
But, I've gotta admit that I laughed my head off about half way through your note. I don't know how a person who feels so lousy can still write such hilarious stuff, but you managed to do it, and I am so glad, because I really needed to have a good giggle ... =)
If you do end up having bronchitis, and still have a bad cough, try warming up a bunch of honey with a bunch of lemon juice in it, then when it cools down, drink it a little bit at a time. And, it actually is pretty tasty, too. But, if your doctor prescribes medication for you, be sure to take it, too, as we would "prefer if you were to hang around" on Earth for a while longer, as God so permits us to be so blessed ...
I will be praying for you to get better quickly, though, so you are able to feel better before Christmas comes. Then again, I pray for you almost every day anyhow, so I will just know more specifically what to pray for now.
I am doing "The Patriarch's study" between God, me and you, right now, and it is So exciting and is truly fascinating information to learn. And, to realize that these were real people who loved God the same way that we do is simply incredible to me. Unfortunately, though, Abraham "just died", and I guess I am a bit like you; as I tend to get all teary eyed when one of these people in the Bible die "during one of your studies". So, I guess I get to learn more about Isaac and his new wife now. =)

And THIS is why I tell people that I LOVE Beth Moore ... you can whine like the rest of us about all of the dang-blasted trips to the doctor and feeling croupy, then you will put on your makeup and big hair and just like any good martyr, do what you have to do to get through the day. God is so good to us women!
Oh poor Beth...I thought my PMS was a major issue this week, but girl, I am sorry to hear that you don't feel well...ya better get yourself some gingerale, tea and honey and drink tons of OJ...and also drown yourself in Robitussin, Night Quil, and the medicine your dr gives you and you'll be good as new :) My momma always says its better to take it all then a little:)
Anyways, I do hope you feel better:)
Be Blessed:)
Angie
I think the iron lung sounds like a more pleasant alternative.
Plus, it would make for some really funny blog posts. And we all have to make sacrifices for the cause, you know.
Sorry. I'm so sorry.
(Also, what you went through when you got out of bed today? That's me every morning right now, only with less coughing and more waddling.)
Oh Beth, bless your heart. I so love your blogs and your humor. I definitely feel like your siesta when you are able to share the dreaded "C" word with us. Those colonoscopies are not fun -- it's even difficult to spell the thing. I do pray for you, even as I write this entry, that your bronchitis will clear up speedily and that you will take a much needed rest AND that your colonoscopy is not until AFTER Christmas :).
You work those vocals chords HARD! -- I pray for peace, rest, joy and a unique experience this Christmas. You can share that unique experience with us after the holidays :). Blessings to you and your family. Much love to you all, JH
So sorry Beth - hope you feel better soon - much love
Oh girl friend, yesterday I woke up all croupy. I feel your pain. In response to my feeble attempt to speak, my whole family said, "Go to the doctor! You know Christmas is just a week away. You need to be well by then." So I went.. got some shots and high powered antbiotics. I feel almost brand new. Ever since I moved to Arkansas I have had lots of sinus issues.
I hope you start to feel better soon. Your Siestas will be praying for you.
Let us hear how you are doing in a couple of days.
Love you too!
Oh dear Beth. You have the crud. It's going around in my little world too and thus far, my family has avoided walking through the sneezes and gaks of others. You take care of yourself and get well soon. Still holding out that you will befriend that camera of yours when you're feeling better. I know you can do it! Love You Siesta.
Oh, Beth! I'm so sorry to hear you have Bronchitis! UUGgghh.. I'll pray for God to heal you so that you can enjoy Christmas with your precious family!
I've never blogged (EVER) before, just reluctant for some odd reason. Noticed no responses yet, so had to just make sure you knew someone was thinking about you and praying you feel better. I've been a huge follower of all these blog entries in "Siesta-ville". Love to hear how you're doing in "everyday" life and think you are just "a riot" as my mama would say.
You, dear, have blessed me in so many ways and I'm embarrassed to say I've never written to tell you so. On March 12, 1998, I ASSUREDLY accepted Jesus Christ (after growing up in the faith, but never really having "a story") during your bible study, Jesus the One and Only. LOVED IT and my life has not been the same since. During that study I got pregnant (after a year of trying) and today I'm blessed to stay home with 2 little people and love them to death. (By the way, I'm taking my Daniel quizzes after the study I did last summer.) Went to see you in cold Detroit last year with my Mom, my sister and my sister-in-law(Jackson was just turning 1 and I cried thinking you couldn't be with him the WHOLE weekend. Oh, Beth, the sacrifices you make do not go unnoticed). God heap blessing on you!
Sorry for the lengthy blog, but had to since this is my first! Rest and feel better(and keep that hair cute -- I'm sure even this morning!!) I'm a huge fan and you inspire me to want more of HIM, know HIM more, and love more because of HIM.
Pray for you often and your ministry. THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Carla in Ohio
O beth! I so hope you get to felling better! I love you sieasta!
Oh Beth - you crack me up. Thank you so much for this light hearted, funny post. It's just what the "Doctor ordered" for me (and my church)greiving the loss of my pastor's wife and friend who valiantly battled cancer the past year. Now she is dancing with the angels and Jesus.
Have a very Merry Christmas! I pray your bronchitis goes away quickly and you enjoy your holiday.
I'm praying for you Ms. Beth. Bronchitis is nothing to mess with. I'm glad you bit the bullet and headed to the doctor.
Crazy for Christ,
~Cheryl
I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to get mammograms when you have a croupy cough/ bronchitis. Could be very dangerous... Colonoscopies too for that matter. You have to be able to hold very still, and deep-chested coughs that rattle your body make that pretty much impossible. Tell that to your doctor.
Praying for you to feel better!! I too was not feeling well and found out that I don't have bronchitis nor do I need a colonsopy, mamogram, yet ... I found out we were going to have a third! So sad that I will not be able to make SA next year! So sad and excited about the baby at the same time!
Hope your feeling much better now.Take care of yourself, rest & do what the Dr said.I am praying for you.God bless love sister in Christ Victoria
Hi Beth, so sorry to hear that you are so sick. But you have made me realize that I need to get a mammogram done soon. It has been 3 1/2 years since I have had one ( I am 46) Also I will probably need to have a colonoscopy. Things haven't been to pleasant in that area lately. I need to take care of myself I will be a granny anyday. Thank you so much for you Godly wisdom, your encouragement, and you are the funniest thang. I love this blog and your wed. on James and Betty R. Get well soon. Kelly from Michigan.
Oh, even in sickness you make me laugh. I hope you and your new iron lung have a speedy recovery.
Hey Beth,
Did you ask your Dr. what a mammogram and colonoscopy have to do with Broncittus??? Boy I would have!!!
Hope you can get over it faster than I do, it takes me almost 2 months to get back to normal.
You guys have a most blessed CHRISTmas!!!
Love ya good,
Miss
Still better than going to the dentist. Feel better!
Get well soon Beth,
Tabitha
Beth,
I hope you get well soon. Sometimes our bodies just have to let us know when it is time to stop and take a rest. It would just be nice if it could give us a heads up so we could put in our schedule. :)
I hope you and your family have a very Merry and restful Christmas!
K
Sorry that you have to get your coo-coo line checked and your girls all smashed up.
This is what I would say if you weren't so respectable! I know you'll have to delete it!
You poor sweet thing, Beth. I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. It's a good thing I didn't know till now otherwise I woulda cried because "my friend isn't doing very well right now." I seem to like taking everyones issues and making them my own. Somebody help me! Anyways, it's good you got it now instead of next week, right! I love you and hope you feel better soon. Now...go get your other things done that need doing. Your little siesta said so.
love you,
Kristi
Oh, yuck. Christmas sick - hate it! I hope you feel better soon. We, too, have some crud at our house. Isn't it mandatory this time of year?
UM Beth,
I just watched the Happy Blog aversary video. You poor baby. You sounded sick then. You must feel HORRIBLE now. I'm so very sorry you're not up to par. Get better soon. I love you.
oh my...did you take too many antihistamines? :-) God love ya...colds, croup and the flu are just about the worst aren't they.
And by the way, you are forgiven for everything you've ever done, whatever it is, per your many
"sorry's"!
OK, get some sleep, and DON'T GO NEAR YOUR CAMERA til you are well!
Sweet Beth...Prayers for a quick recovery and do what the Dr tells you to do...God bless you
Beth,
So sorry to hear you are under the weather. Sure hope you feel better real soon. Praying that this icky Bronchitis goes away!
Sittin here in the sound booth of my church and instead of listening to the sermon, I read your post. I could barely keep from laughing out loud. The pastor keeps looking up and wondering what on earth am I smiling about--he is talking about being quiet and humble!!
I love you bunches Beth Moore. I pray you feel better soon.
Shelly, Florida
Awww, sweet Beth, I'm sorry you are sick! Praying that during this time, you feel the breath of God upon your sweet (albeit scary and loathsome??...hee hee!) face. Praying that He speaks over you and gives you a NEW song to sing!
'Wish I could bring you some Chicken Noodle soup...maybe those dogs of yours will stay near on your lap and take care of you--did Keith take them along?
Much love and prayers for you, dear one!
Holly
Poor Beth - sounds like you got what I had two weeks ago - and what 3 of my dear siestas have now ---- strong antibiotics are in order (and that shot sure did not hurt anything!) - liquid gold it was . . .
Rest girl ---- lifting up a prayer for you.
I do hope you feel better soon! But I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a smile and a laugh out of your post. You are so stinkin funny. And real! Heck, you're just real funny!
i forgive you. for whatever it was that you were so sorry for. and, my goodness, i hope you feel better. and, yes, i am really glad that when we blog we don't have to use adverbs appropriately.
Sorry you are sick, but that was still a funny post. Get well soon. Enjoy some down time...catch up on your soaps ya know. :)
Bethie~ You know that the doctors just look at you and say (to themselves)~ She is blonde, just say anything! She will never know the difference! You might need a second opinion!
If you need a lung transplant just call me....
I'll help you find a donor!
Love you! jan
PS Remember.. A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down~
I love the random post~
I pray for your complete healing~AMEN!!
Sorry you are sick, sweet Beth. Prayers being said for a quick recovery. Bronchitis is no fun. You get lots of rest, take your meds, and drink liquids til you float. ;o)
I am SO sorry to hear that you don't feel well!
You know, what is the phenonemon that goes along with not feeling well and having your hair look "especially dark"? Everytime I am sick, my hair seems to turn really brown (I too am blonder than I pay to be!)
I have noticed that my hair sorta takes on my moods...Today it is tired!
I hope you feel better real soon!
Oh Beth, I do hope you are feeling much better or that you will very soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers. And I loved your post by the way! Your so like me! lol
Beth, even in your sickness you make us laugh! You are a blessing! Now if we could just make you laugh, I'm sure you need that medicine!
And I don't believe in the flu shot...gets me sick every time!
I am praying for you to feel better real soon. Just be glad you don't have a house full of youngins to take care of too!
Oh, sweet Beth, I am so sorry you're sick. AND to add injury to illness, a mammogram and colonoscopy--yuck, yuck! What we women have to do...times like this you miss your mama. Those were fun days for me getting attention all to myself when I was sick--being a twin it didn't happen too often. Hope you're better really quick, and try not to think about the m. or the c. Yuck. Feel better. Love, Annette
You're in my poor prayers.
Oh I feel awful about laughing but your description was just too funny! I can't imagine you with a bad hair day! I hope you feel better soon.
Right there with you, I have asthma induced bronchitis and it hit me like a ton of bricks. My doctor said I was a mess after he checked me out. I'm also 14 weeks prego so he is concerned for my well being. I really hate this mucinex stuff, but if it 'gets the mucus out' then I can't complain too loudly or promise I will be lady like when it does (come out). I hope you get better soon especially for Christmas. I'm sure Jackson will be a lot of fun and you won't want to miss it! Take care of yourself.
Bless your heart. I can't think that there's a lot more embarrassing than trying to have some really personal procedure done that requires you to abandon all dignity and have someone say, "aren't you so and so and I just loved your whatever?" Anyway, I'll be praying for you. Be careful with bronchitis. It has a way of turning ugly sometimes. Blessings to you girlfriend!
You poor dear thing! Oh, I don't even want to think about colonoscopies and mammograms. (not that I have enough mam to even get a mammogram after 3 babies)
You get better!
Alright, sweet siesta, I hope you feel better soon. Please slow down a little - sounds like God wants you to be still and let The Great Physician heal you. I always pray for you and am especially praying that you feel better soon. Also, I am a southern woman (and dang proud of it!) and just have to ask if your mom or nanny ever greased your holler when you were sick like this as a child. I can only imagine what 'un'southerners are thinking about this right now but when I got sick like that growing up, my mom would take Vicks Vapor Rub and rub on my chest and cover it with a warm towel and I'd feel so much better - I could breathe and sleep! It was called 'greasin' yer holler'.
Feel better and think how many of us women are praying for you and love you and your sweet family!
~Dana
Praying you (and your hair) are feeling better soon!
You know what. I'm actually sick, too. Not as sick as you. I'm pretty sure I just have a bad cold, but my ears are plugged and it's driving me crazy. Plus I can't stop having that sneezy feeling. Oh, not fun. So you and I could just have a sick party. I haven't even taken off my pajamas today. So we could sleep and sleep and cough and sneeze and drive each other crazy. You could even get mad at me and I wouldn't mind too much.
Beth,
Thanks a lot. I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants. That is a FUNNY post. And a reminder of how hilarious God made us all. Sick and well. Thanks for sharing your delusio...uh, I mean your day with us. And honey, you might want to lay down and take something to help you rest a little bit. Don't forget a good book,
( Number 1. Ladies Detective Agency), some chicken broth and a box of Kleenex! Hope you feel well! Julie B. Tucson
The only thing that ever helped me was that Vicks stuff you rub on your chest. But ewhhh it smelled badly!
Seeing as how this IS a 911 emergency...here's some very good medicine to make you feel better:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/2375500/0~2375500
Get well soon!
Dear Beth,
Hope our letters are like the handmade get well cards from classmates we used to get if we missed more than a couple of days of school.
I can understand randomness due to feeling sick as a dog. When my husband gets sick he refuses to go to the bedroom but doesn't feel sociable so he lays on the couch with a blanket over his head.
I, on the other hand, want lots of attention and get really sappy when I'm sick. Everything little thing sems poignant and I can't watch anything touching on TV or I start crying.
We're all praying for you and I'm know you'll feel much better when your medicine kicks in.
Love,
Becky
I'm fairly certain I'm your sister from another mother. Gar-rone-tee it.
((((((Bethy)))))
"Da-dorable" that is what my 17 yr old manly-man son would say. Yes, he speaks with his heart~ so sweet and refreshing. I love this entry! Do you know what all 4 of the "men" in this house said.Well yes you do, of course you do. They said..."gasp", that you may actually not be the one who is writing your own blog. "GASP" yes, I know, blasphame almost right?!. I threw my head back and laughed that hearty "I know better" laugh. Who else can go to these places with so many hormonal women online? Who can share the laughter and snooring video from August, or the "Bug eyed glasses singing from the other day ? Who would go to the depths?
Thank you for Moore reality take on life. Refreshing and "da-dorable". We adore you all! I"m quite sure Jacob does as well.(Mr. 17)
Giget
I just read your diagnosis and am wondering why you need a colonoscopy and a mammogram if you have broncitis!! They really aren't related. I assume that you threw that in there to see if we were paying attention. Or is it that your doctor spent too much time looking at your history?
Hope you got some powerful antibotics.
Hey Siestas,
I am so glad that the nester's post didn't get deleleted!! You are as funny as the Moores.
Speaking of wanting your Momma when you're sick... I do NOT get along with my Momma and never have, but when I am throwing up sick- I WANT MY MOMMA!!!! The last time I went home for Christmas, I got throwing up sick and all she did was sit on the couch and hollar in there, "Are you ok?" Boy that cured that!
Praying for all you croupy girls out there!
Oh Beth, you're so funny and I love reading your blog. You write out so many things that I only think in my head and never record. Don't ever be sorry for telling us about the not-so-sunshiny times. Sunshiny, that's one of those bloggy words.
If I could, I would send you the song "Sunshine Day" by the Brady Bunch because THAT song will brighten any day!
If it makes you feel better, I will tell you about what happened to me on Monday. I got to buy a pair of size 8 jeans this weekend and I haven't worn size 8 since high school. Well, I was SO proud of the fact that I was wearing those jeans that I was kinda strutin' my stuff through the kitchen and into the laundry room. As I stepped down into the laundry room I caught the heel of my boot on the edge of the step and fell flat on my face! Man, the Lord sure knows how to take you down a step or two! (yeah, I know that was bad) It was one of those look and see who saw that moments, but since I was the only one home, I pretty sure I was safe.
Pride- it's an ugly, ugly thing!
Hope you're felling better soon.
Love,
Darlene
PS Speaking of Kirk Franklin from the post about LPM his new cd came out yesterday!
"The Fight of My Life" SO GOOD!!!
Praying for you to feel better soon!
Dearest Beth,
I am so sorry that you are sick--I will pray for a quick recovery..I am praising God for your journal "Praying God's Word" everday.I have been taking it with me to the hospital. We are in the midst of a battle-we just got "news" today that our son may only have 6 months to live...He is married & has 2 children. He had his 2nd brain surgery on Monday (the first in July). He has gone through radiation & chemo but the chemo wasn't doing "the work". We Know THE ONE who can do THE WORK..Please hold all of us up in your prayers for complete healing. My husband & I held hands with our son, Mick & prayed that God would show HIMSELF in a mighty miracle. I only ask ALL of you to help us pray. Please hold your loved ones extra tight this Christmas. If they ask why "tell them it's from someone who cares". Merry Christmas to all &God Bless The Moore Family..Keep Up the Good Fight..We will overcome!!!!
Nancy
Oh Sweet Beth....How we would all come over and tend to you if we could....you just tend to us soooo much that we would be tending to you that we'd probably end up driving you crazy!!
I am so sorry that you have got "the croup." Thats was us southerners call illnesses...ya know..."the cold" or "the bronchitis."
Praying God's mighty and healing hand over you. Get some rest...you CANNOT be sick Christmas day. :)
Lots of love~
I'm sitting here laughing because you can make any situation funny, even being sick! And my husband asks from the other room what is so funny. I told him and his response was, "A mamogram and colonoscopy for bronchitis? I sure don't want to go to her doctor!" Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Beth,
You are just as precious as you are hilarious!! I pray you are feeling better quicker than a duck on a June bug!
All my lovin' to you,
Kristen
Beth, Just wanted to say that i will be praying for you to get over this fast, you are so special and mean so much to me..don't you just hate those inconviences of the the things drs. make us do!
take care of yourself and remember that you son't ever have to apologize,it is really neat to be able to be on level with you, because you are dear to so many!
I love you, one of your Siestas,
Delilah

Please don't apologize, Beth! A woman needs a place where she can get some understanding and sympathy. And isn't that what Siestas are for? You need a nice warm bath, comfy pj's, some soup, a soft bed and don't forget to drink lots of juice and water.
Btw, I had my experience with the gallon of Golitely last year, been there, got that t-shirt. But, if you'd like your Siestas to fast with you in support you just let us know. Your Siestas are here for you.
Now, you take care of yourself...get some rest...and feel better real soon. We Love You!
Veronica
Oops messed up my comment so I am sorry if this sends twice!
I just wanted to say how I hope you feel so much better and soon sweet Beth! I also wanted to say Happy Blog-versary! Merry Christmas. Sunshine
Praying you'll feel better real soon (like by the time you read this). Thanks for being real with us and sharing yourself. Merry Christmas!!
You are too, too, funny! I hope the fever left your hair before you saw the doctor.
Get well soon!
Just love you to pieces, Beth. I am right there with you girl!!! I can so relate.
Praying that you are better soon.
Love ya,
Siesta Lyn
You crack me up when you said you're "sorry for everything . . ."!! That was funny! :)
I'm sorry you are so yucky feelin', and I hope you get well super soon, I am praying for you!
kari
Oh Beth I am so sorry you are sick. You sound just like me when I am sick....I want to be ALONE!
Last year I had the croup from Thanksgiving until March, it took two steriod shots, two rounds of penicillian, two Levaquin and about three or was it four bottles of Codene Cough Syrup. Anyway I survived and you will too.
I watched James Robinson laste night, where can we get "When Life has You Paralyzed"? I can't afford to order the whole series he was showing. I really need that because after loosing both parents this year and facing over $30,000 in medical bills I do feel paralyzed.
Feel better!
Merry Christmas
Beth,
Sorry you feel bad with that bronchitus. I know you will get better and better and better. Look at all the people on this blog and your family, LPM, friends that love you!! You are blessed woman! WOW now I think I would trade a little of your sickness with all your support for a little of my stuff. But you would not trade!
Love you, allison
It is SO REFRESHING to see that you are not as perfect as all those other boring ( not so truthful) Bible leaders whose kids clothes all match, their house never has any dust bunnies and they NEVER get sick- no never. Yeah right! You are real and that's why we love you- except right now I'm praying that God takes hold of you in a special way and ministers. Sometimes He MAKES ME LIE DOWN in green pastures.. know what I mean? I too have been sick... I think bronchitis is somehwere between the allowable will of God and an attack from hell! Love and blessings! :) Thanks for WHO YOU ARE and HOW you love Him!
Sandi Krakowski
I hate that you are feeling so misreable; I hope you get better soon!
Being siesta means "NEVER HAVING TO SAY YOU'RE SORRY!!!"
We enjoy you just being you!!
I'm with Elaine (your very first comment)...oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Moore homestead! But, as Siestas, we're pretty close...we have a mighty fine view of the goings-on therein if we know you're due for a colonoscopy! :o)
It's good to be a Siesta! Feel better soon!
I continue to love you to pieces, Beth! Your Dr. "stuff" and mine sound similar! (I can say "stuff", cuz this is in response to a blog. :o) Cuz, too.) It is my sister...she shall remain un-named as she is also a Siesta...who shames me into going to the Dr., colonoscopy and all.
Blessings and healing on your day, Dear One.
OK, here is something to cheer you up while you are sick. It will surely make you smile and I'm dying to tell you. I have a 6 year old son who prays every day for his best friend to be saved. Last night that friend spent the night with us and went to the Christmas party at church. When it was bedtime, the boys were laying in the bed with only the nightlight on and I heard talking. As I passed by the door, I saw two little hineys up in the air and both of them on their knees peering into my son's bible. My son frantically flipped pages in the dark until he finally stopped and exclaimed, "OK, I can't find it. But here's what it says: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!" OH MY WORD! CAN I GET A WHOPPIN' AMEN BROTHA? The poor child was confused over my son's outburst and so I went in and gave a child's gospel presentation and, praise that Almighty God of ours, the child truly understood! He even said, "but I believe in Rudolph too, what's the difference?" Oh my heavens, has the child taken an EE course and I didn't know it? Perfect...so I clarified the difference between head knowledge and true faith and trust and I just know the Lord is working on this child. Amen and Amen. God is good at Christmas. And every day until it's Christmas again! Hope you feel better Beth.
Love, Lisa
Hi Beth,
I am praying for your speedy recovery! You are even funny when you are sick. I'm still laughing my head off at our siesta with the cat food....good one!
Get some rest....we love you!
Sarah in Wyoming
Oh Beth! I feel for you! We've all felt as you do! I am now getting over a cold and starting my "coughing" phase. I hope it doesn't turn into bronchitus just in time for Christmas!
It always seems like something comes up on our free days - doesn't it? Well, maybe you can still shop online and get it there in time!
I would pamper you if I could - but I'm still trying to muddle through my days myself.
Get well soon, my friend.
If anyone can wear an iron lung and make it look sassy, it would SO be you.
The only thing you need to apologize for is NOT posting the feverish hair photo.
Hope you get a long winter's nap and feel like a new woman in no time. You are loved!!
You Moores can even make being sick funny! Although I'm sure you feel more like if I don't laugh I'll just cry! Hope you get free from the bronchitis soon!! I've been due for my mammogram but it got postponed since I was nursing then got pregnant again, now nursing... but the doctor says at least that helps protect you from breast CA (it should, there won't be anything left of them! but I digress...). I know you don't want to talk about it but talking w/ nurses who'd done your Bible studies while undergoing a colonoscopy... did that make it any better? Sorry this is so long when you'll get a bunch! (140 already)
Get well soon!
love ya Siesta!
Beth, I concur with Deb on "you never have to say your sorry to a sietas." Oh and how funny was the one about her doctor showing up behind her in the Starbucks line after being told to not drink coffee. That would totally happen to me. My prayers are with you Beth for the tests. Getting older is just scary sometimes. I thought it was just me but in reading Amy Grants new book "Mosaic" I find its pretty universal.
Well, I have never laughed so hard yet at a post, and that probably isn't the nicest thing to say considering how dag-one pathetic you sounded by the end, Miss Beth. But that bit about giving us a spirit of fear with your picture and looking like norman bate's mother, well... I just lost it. I'm praying for your lungs (and your feverish hair) today.
I agree with coffee and bible girl! I'm glad you share your mundaneness (hee hee) with us. I sure hope you're feeling better. (Oh, yeah, no apologies needed!!)
Merry CHRISTmas!!
Ok I am confused?? What really is a mammogram? Isn't it when you get a real quick letter from someone?? :)
Just kidding, haven't had one yet...can't read very well!
No seriously, next year is the big year.....I can't wait....first times are always that greatest! Aren't they??
Merry Christmas
From your friend Stacy, writing from your upper state MinnesOtA!
Did I say it's cold here? And you got croup? Somethin's wrong with that picture! Get better soon!
Dear Beth...
No apologies needed. Girlfriend this is just one of those "be still moments" You know what I am talking about, life has you busier than a beaver buliding a dam and God just wants to hold you. He wants you all to Himself...just you and Him. During these moments in my life, I often find God wants to communicate something to me. These moments hopefully are short because the rest of the verse of Psalm 46:10 means we have work to do!!! So just "be still for now" because you can bet there will be a blast off later. My prayers for a speedy recovery are with you. Be still girl and be blessed.
I pray your feeling better today.Rest take care of your self.God bless angel love sister in Christ Victoria
You are a wise woman to send your man on. They don't really know what to do with a sick woman anyway! There is a fine line between being helpful and getting on your sick nerves. ha
Thank you for sharing so freely with us. We love you. Get better real soon!
dear sweet siesta beth,
if was close I would fix you a cup of tea and wrap you in a quilt and we would watch movies all day. I love how real you are with us...I had to giggle as I pictured your hair....I am glad to know I am not the only one who has those days.
hope you feel better soon.
love you siesta
Oh, sorry your sick! Praying for a quick recovery! Hope you get lots of rest... just don't watch any soap operas while doing it;D
Love,
Suzi
I think you should of posted the picture!!! :) I hope you are feeling better. I love coming to this site. It makes me laugh....even when someone is sick...wait...should I really laugh at your sickness....probably not, but you make it so stinkin' funny!
Get better soon!
Mrs. Beth,
I am sure you will be well soon. The only thing worse than being sick or children being physically sick, is disobedient children especially this time of year, when time is short they tear into presents early..., I expect their real father isn't happy (although the one they have now encourages it as he spoiled them in a very bad way), I am afraid that in the long run it may not be prudent for their real father to give them an inheritence, if they keep acting like someone else's children even as adults, I mean they revel in it!

What's a colonoscopy and iron lung between friends. It may get to the point you have to leave the state for your "delicate" issues. Nah, upon further reflection, that probably wouldn't help either.
I pray you're better before your Christmas celebration. At least you were well enough for your mall extravaganza Christmas party!!!
Beth, I hope that you are feeling much better today.
Your words about your mama "She didn't know what to do with a stronghold but she knew what to do with the croup" hit me today. I was thinking about all of the things my mom DOESN'T do. The things she CAN'T let go. Then I remembered your words, and I began to think of what she DOES do for the benefit of me and my family. It was a humbling moment for me.
See? You speak profoundly even from the depths of bronchitis!
Praying for a speedy recovery for you.
I am so sorry you are sick!! You are the funniest thing ever, even in sickness! I had that for two weeks. At one point I thought I just needed to go on and be with Jesus! Don't even talk about the "m" word. I am done until next year when I get the lovely reminder in the mail that it's time to be squished.(for lack of a better word). Good grief, is it not bad enough to have a colonoscopy but to have to lay there and talk with the nurses about your studies. Bless your heart and love us anyway.LOL I remember when I was little and I guess my mom wasn't thinking back then, but she would be cleaning the house and sit us in front of the t.v. to watch soap operas(Doctors or Days of our Lives). Have mercy! I hope you are at home in your jammies and may God touch your sweet self and heal you quickly so that you are not sick on Christmas!
Much Love,
Patty
Awww...I hate that you're sick right before Christmas (I almost said "feeling poorly"...LOL!). :(
I'm so laughing at the colonoscopy nurses talking about your Bible study while you were...ahem...getting things taken care of. Bwwwaaaahhhhaaaahhaaa!!!
Feel better soon, Siesta, and Merry Christmas!
I love random blogs. So sorry you are sick, praying for a quick recovery so you may fully enjoy Christmas day!!
Beth,
I hope your better soon. I feel bad for laughing so hard while reading, but I was just at the doctor yesterday and had a THOROUGH physical, with a recommended, and now scheduled, mammogram. While you take your meds, know that you have brought laughter (medicine) to the hearts of so many by just being you and being honest with your feelings and thoughts. Forget "Chicken Soup for the Soul," Beth Moore works just as good! Love, Joy
LOL!
i love you!
When I was pregnant with my first all the home test kits were negative. I tried to diagnose my horrible tiredness and lack of energy, morning sickness, huge mood swings, etc on the internet. I decided I had leukemia. I went on for a month thinking I had leukemia and scheduled the doctor's appt. to get the ball rolling. The only thing that rolled were his eyes when I told him my diagnosis. I was one happy camper when he told me I was pg! Hope your feeling better and Merry Jesus' Birthday!
I am praying that you are better today! Merry Christmas, Beth, to you, your family and all the LPM family.
